The Breakfast Club - July 31, 2010

From a fellow BCer (even some libs will see the humor in this...well, if they actually try):

---
Online headline: "Al Gore Cleared by Portland Area DA of Masseuse's Sexual Misconduct Claims" -- Hmmm, Algore, the man with a 100% 'woody' personality, has been cleared of charges. Hmmm, when you think about it, can anyone even picture Algore being sexual?
---
Online headline: "Sluggish Economy May Be Bad News for Democrats" -- DOH! It has been for all of us who work hard, so why shouldn't it be for DIM/DUMBorats?
---
Online headline/story: "Administration Buys $700,000 TV Ad Touting Health Care Law * The $700,000 ad was paid for by Medicare and is part of an open enrollment campaign that will continue through the end of the year. Medicare says the goal is to educate seniors about new benefits available starting in 2011." -- Excuse me! Didn't I recall that HELL-thSCare plans a $500 BILLION dollar cutback in Medicare? It takes more than "new math" to get this to add up.
---
Online headline/story: "Sen. Ben Nelson Is First Democrat to Oppose Kagan for Supreme Court * "I have heard concerns from Nebraskans regarding Ms. Kagan, and her lack of a judicial record makes it difficult for me to discount the concerns raised by Nebraskans, or to reach a level of comfort that these concerns are unfounded," Nelson said in a statement." -- Now he listens! Guess if HELL_thScare had been done closer to election time, he'd have 'heard' his constituency then, too.
---
L-E headline: "Repairs on Macon Road bridge to take longer than expected" -- DOH! It's the government; is anybody actually surprised?
---
I was listening to a teacher challenge NJ governor Chris Christie about his plea to freeze teacher salaries for a year and require them to pay 1.5% of their salaries towards their health care. One teacher went ballistic saying she wanted compensation for her educational degrees. Unreal! What is the value of an advanced teaching degree if they are not taught the simple facts of how the economy works, and that when less taxes are being collected, there are fewer tax dollars from which to spend on teachers? Why is government the fastest to spend revenues when they are in abundance, and the last to tone down spending when the economy slows?
---
Online story: "KABUL, Afghanistan (July 29) -- A second U.S. Navy sailor who went missing in a dangerous part of eastern Afghanistan was found dead and his body recovered, a senior U.S. military official and Afghan officials said Thursday." -- Wow! Makes our waterboarding and cable-tv at Camp Gitmo seem sort of insignificant, doesn't it? Well, maybe not to liberals who think the Navy men deserved it.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “The art of life is to show your hand. There is no diplomacy like candor. You may lose by it now and then, but it will be a loss well gained if you do. Nothing is so boring as having to keep up a deception.” — E.V. Lucas, English author and critic (1868-1938). " -- Hmmm... one only has to go back a few years to find great examples of this... the Clinton marriage, the Algore marriage and Global Warming, and the potUS Nero-bama transparency.
---
L-E headline: "REALLY ? N.M. considers controversial pardon for infamous outlaw Billy the Kid " -- Hmm.. My great-grandmother's brother, John Lee Hurst, hung out with Billy the Kid. I remember when I found this out and excitedly went to my pubescent nephews to tell them the exciting news. All the response I got was, "Billy the who?" Such were the thoughts of a generation that teethed itself on "Star Wars" versus 'western oaters'.
---
Actor Don Murray is 81 today. All I really know about him was that he was brought into the Southern Open as a 'celebrity' for the Pro-Am, and that he was paired with my Dad's team. After an obviously late night, he showed up at the #1 tee at GICC 2 minutes before his starting time wearing a white oxford clothe, french cuffed shirt, blue seer-sucker suit pants, white bucks, and a grim look of a severe hangover. He asked everyone to 'whisper' if they had to yell "FORE".
---
L-E "soundoff": " If we had re-elected Jimmy Carter, this country would not be in the big mess it’s in today. " -- Probably true. Today's mess would seem inconsequential in comparison to forecasting the state we would be in if he had been re-elected. Besides, he'd probably have given it away to some other country like he did the Panama Canal.
---
From the 'nothing good happens after midnight' department - L-E story: " A Columbus woman was shot at a local club, according to a police report. * The incident occurred at the Carousel Lounge on Victory Drive at around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Columbus police said." -- Is anyone keeping score of the number of shootings and other assaults that occur in the parking lot of the Carousel Lounge?
---
L-E story: "MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Supreme Court overturned a Macon County circuit judge’s order and cleared the way Friday for Gov. Bob Riley’s task force on gambling to raid Victoryland, the state’s largest electronic bingo casino." -- Why didn't the paper just publish when the raid was going to happen, too?
---
L-E's "QUOTABLE": “Ideals are like the stars: we never reach them, but like the mariners of the sea, we chart our course by them.” Carl Schurz German revolutionary (1829-1906) " -- Quite simplistic and enlightening. Unfortunately, we have a generation that has been led to believe the 'stars' they chart their course by are the ones in Hollywood.
---
L-E headline: "Outlook dims for economy as growth slows * GDP grew at 2.4% during first quarter" -- And, if you calculate the tax increases if Congress lets the "Bush Tax Cuts" end, this number will be negative in 12 months.
---
L-E headline/story: "Chrysler to add 900 jobs to midsize-car plant * The automaker made the announcement at another Detroit-area plant just before President Barack Obama spoke there about the success of the government-funded auto industry bailout." -- Isn't it amazing how the only industry growth potUS Nero-bama can brag about is the government owned ones? Probably just another case of cooking the books as usual for this administration. Of course, he doesn't want to talk about the average (this year) of more than 460,000 people a week filing for 'first time' unemployment. What that means is there have been an average of over 460,000 jobs lost per week this year; that's nearly 12,000,000 people who have filed for 'first time' unemployment benefits in 6 months, and Congress has just extended the unemployment benefits from 99 weeks to 126 weeks...that's well over 2 YEARS!

The Breakfast Club - July 30, 2010

Online headline/story: "Will Failed DC Porn Case Dampen Prosecutors' Zeal? * But before the defense could even present its side, U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon dismissed the case, saying the government had failed to prove the most basic of issues: that the defendant and two related companies were linked to porno videos that the government claimed went beyond the acceptable community standards." -- Isn't this basically a condemnation of both Washington, DC and the judicial system?
---
L-E headline/story: "Parks & Rec audit: City manager's office revokes Adams, Porter’s coaching duties * City manager’s office sends suspended workers letters to cease involvement after traveling to Orlando with team * Those comments are paternalistic, racist and as insulting as hell,” (Adams' and Porter's attorney Don) Jackson said. -- How 20th Century! Guess Jackson is showing his hand...if he doesn't have a trump card, throw in the race card!
---
Online headline/story: "Mortgage rates hit low of 4.54 percent * NEW YORK -- Mortgage rates are the most affordable in decades for those who can qualify for a loan." -- Note, "for those who can qualify". Administrative comments about the housing market are fluff reports meant to bolster potUS Nero-bama's poll numbers, but the new low interest rate belies him. The low interest rate is directly connected to the surplus of houses that no one is interested in buying, or not enough buyers cannot qualify to buy at the moment.
---
Online headline: "Iconic Golden Gate Bridge to Get $45M Suicide Net" -- Liberals! They will mess up an icon so 'jumpers' will find another spot to use that doesn't spoil the view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
---
Online headline repeat: "Iconic Golden Gate Bridge to Get $45M Suicide Net" -- Why don't the liberals just hire a 24/7 psychiatrist group to give free counseling at the ends of the bridge. It'd be cheaper and keep from making an eyesore out of the bridge.
---
L-E headline: "Initial jobless claims drop to 457,000" -- Lets see.. projecting out 12 months and that means 5,484,000 could be filing for first time job benefits... not an exactly comforting number when you digest it.
---
Online headline: "Past Decade Is Warmest on Record" -- Clever trap... guess the liberal media is taking drastic measures to lure Algore back into the open.
---
Online story: "(July 28) -- Another year, another Man Booker prize long-list, and another one without Martin Amis. * Bestowed to international novelists from the British Commonwealth and Ireland, the Booker Prize is the second most prestigious literary award outside of the U.S. (the Nobel Prize for Literature being the most coveted, despite honoring many a dud)." -- Is this gonna be like that soap opera woman who finally got her award out of sympathy that she never won it outright on her own? It doesn't matter whether Amis' work in a given year is the best, but he's just been hanging onto the fringe for so long. Now you can sense the libs want to given him a trophy just for participating; sorta like every kid on a baseball team getting a team trophy. You can spot liberals and their 'feel good' intentions a year away!
---
No wonder potUS Nero-bama was so eager to appear on "The View"; it's the only place in the country outside of the White House that he can go and get a majority approval.
---
Despite the court injunctions on parts of the Arizona Law, California protestors showed up in Phoenix carrying signs comparing Governor Brewer to Hitler, and "Yes We Klan".
They are doing what they accuse the T.E.A. Party movement of doing. There is a difference though, pictures of the T.E.A. Party accusations don't exist.
---
From the "who'da thunk it" department: L-E's "Thought for Today, “An efficient bureaucracy is the greatest threat to liberty.” — Sen. Eugene McCarthy (1916-2005)." -- If he was alive today, he'd be up at arms at the potUS Nero-bama bureaucracy.
---
L-E story: "LOS ANGELES — Ellen DeGeneres is leaving “American Idol” after one season as a judge for the hit Fox TV singing contest. " -- Once again walking proof that having bad taste is often worse than having no taste at all.
---
L-E headline: "R E A LLY ? * FAA: Clinton’s wedding a no-fly zone" -- No wonder potUS Nero-bama wasn't invited! With his record with flies, the Clinton's thought he might attack some of the wedding guests.
---
L-E's "Q U O T A B L E": "Don’t blame the marketing department. The buck stops with the chief executive." John D. Rockefeller American business leader (1839-1937) -- The Roosevelt administration must have given him a heart attack, but if he'd have survived, the potUS Nero-bama finger-pointing-of-blame would have surely done Rockefeller in.
---
L-E headline: "House panel hits Rangel with 13 ethics charges" -- Wrong! The House panel has merely pointed out and narrowed it down to 13 incidents.
--------------------------------

The Breakfast Club - July 29, 2010

L-E headline: "Columbus man pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide * Matthews accused of killing Elizabeth Shingles while she was sitting on her porch" -- Once again, if the man is convicted, shouldn't he also be charged with lying to a judge?
---
The (New Financial Regulation) law, signed last week by President Obama, exempts the SEC from disclosing records or information derived from "surveillance, risk assessments, or other regulatory and oversight activities." Given that the SEC is a regulatory body, the provision covers almost every action by the agency, lawyers say. Congress and federal agencies can request information, but the public cannot. -- Yeah, the "big Guy", potUS Nero-bama, is really looking after 'us'.
---
Online headline: "Spain's Catalonia Bans Bullfighting in Vote" -- Ooops, my bad. Type was blurred and I thought it said California and California had banned Congressional debates.
---
While the stretch of Veterans Parkway from 19th Street to River Road is always some sort of an eyesore, I do not know how reshaping the trees into half-trees and slingshots is an improvement. Surely there is a solution better than what's being done as we speak.
---
Online headline/story: "Judge Blocks Parts of Arizona Immigration Law" * The judge also put on hold a part of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, " -- Excuse me! Name any other country that does not demand that all visitors have their passport/papers on them at all times! Even Mexico!
---
With the judge in the Arizona Law trial saying the police cannot ask for ID papers, doesn't this mean if I get pulled over for speeding, I don't have to give the police office my driver's license or my insurance card/registration?
---
What are the designers of "Volt" thinking? Perhaps I should say, 'not thinking'. Why doesn't the gasoline engine recharge the primary electric battery package when the gas engine kicks in?
---
When Jeffrey Immelt was supporting potUS Nero-bama, he was the toast of the liberal media. Now that he's come to his senses, and regrets such support, Immelt is no longer on the liberal A-list and has lost his spotlight. Me, I'm on a permanent GE product boycott. Saw a neat retro-look coffee maker/percolator at Walmart's yesterday, then noted the GE tag, and left it where it was.
---
Online story: "virtually all scientists who have discussed the situation seem puzzled how the worst oil spill in the history of the Gulf of Mexico could seem to simply disappear in a matter of days." -- Scientists and atheists do not, cannot, separate their limited visual powers with the reality of the higher power of our omnipotent God. God does not explain things to those who will not understand; they must learn to have faith in things they cannot see.
---
Online story: "We are at war with al-Qaida," Prime Minister Francois Fillon said Tuesday, a day after President Nicolas Sarkozy announced the death of 78-year-old hostage Michel Germaneau. The humanitarian worker had been abducted April 20 or 22 in Niger by al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, and was later taken to Mali, officials said. * The killers will "not go unpunished," Sarkozy said in unusually strong language, given France's habit of employing quiet cooperation with its regional allies" -- Now this a France potUS Nero-bama can emulate!
---
L-E story: "DAHLONEGA, Ga. — A zedonk, an unusual cross between a donkey and a zebra, is attracting attention at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in north Georgia after being born there about a week ago. " -- ho-hum.... We have too many of these 'zedonks'... they are all over Washington, DC and the 50 state capitals, only we call them a 'rino' instead, Republican In Name Only.
---
How can it be called an "Ethics Committee" if a person charged with violations can make a deal to avoid prosecution?
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — FBI Director Robert Mueller told Congress on Wednesday that he does not know how many of his agents cheated on an important exam on the bureau’s policies, an embarrassing revelation that raises questions about whether the FBI knows its own rules for conducting surveillance on Americans." Hmmm.. wonder if the FBI has a Congressional equivalent of "The Ethics Committee" in which caught agents can work out a deal, too?
---
There is a solution for letter writer Robert John White of Georgetown, Ga.; simply move to Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, China, or Korea. We'll look for your e-mail telling us where you are.....if it gets out of your new country.
---
No matter how you try to interpret the law(s), there is no defense of teachers who prey on students.
---
L-E headline: "Fed says recovery slows in some places " -- How can inert become slower?

The Breakfast Club - July 28, 2010

I'm undecided about John Kerry's plight. Is it worse that Massachusetts has such high taxes on yachts, or Kerry was hypocritically trying to avoid those taxes by hiding his new yacht in a tax free state?
---
You'd think potUS Nero-bama would have better communications with his staff than what he shows the public. Seems to me, when ever there's a need for him to go to the Gulf Coast, he ends up at a Golf Course.
---
Unbelievable! There's a 'new' product out that women can wear that holds a full bottle of wine. It's solicitously named the "Wine Rack" and definitely out pumps the Wonder Bra and Reebok's infamous shoes.
---
Heard a DIM/DUMBorat ad with an abbreviated clip of JFK's famous inaugural quote, "Ask not what your country"...what it didn't do was complete the quote which was to not ask what your country could do for you, but what you could do for your country. Guess DIM/DUMBs do not want their faithful to realize that not voting for them is something they can do for the country that's good. Besides, when was the last time a DIM/DUMB politico asked a DIM/DUMB voter to giveto rather that mooch off the country?
---
An insurance company ad says the average funeral expense is now about $7,300.00, but your Social Security death benefit only pays about $250.00. Hmmm, when do you think potUS Nero-bama's HELL-thScare bill will start giving you a choice of either treatment or paying for your funeral expenses?
---
Does anyone believe John Wells doing his "Sgt Shultz" impersonation (I know nothing) when asked about his tenant arrested for having video slot machines? I signed a lease for my business a year and a half ago, and my landlord required proof of licensing and business suitability/zoning compliance for the location. Surely Wells has some standard screening practices before turning over the keys to a renter.
---
So Government Motors is finally introducing its highly prized and promoted "Volt". Seeing the sticker price, GM might consider changing its name to "Dolt".
---
Online headline: "Angry Daughter Pleads: “Don't Vote For My Dad!" -- Ooops, my bad. First thought figured it was the daughter of Clinton, Carter, or potUS Nero-bama but it wasn't. Oh, but I was pretty close; it's about the daughter of a lawyer running office.
---
What is the delay in the DNA testing of Carlton Gary? I'm tired of picking up his room & board.
-------------------------------------

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

The Breakfast Club - July 27, 2010

Online headline: "Obama Says Malia and Sasha May Be Looking for Babysitting Jobs" -- Who could afford them? I mean, wouldn't they have at least two SS body guards with them every time they changed a diaper (and maybe a toxologist to test the diapers before either girl touches them)?
---
After looking at the Council's agenda on Sunday, how did Edward DuBose get on the Tuesday's agenda to discuss the Bruner/CFD audit issue when the story wasn't published until Sunday? I recall having to ask the Council ahead of time to be included on the agenda.
---
From a fellow BCer: "If the Columbus police are going to crack down on speeding they will need to start with their speeding cars." -- Amen!
---
Don't you have to wonder how much money Rod Blagojevich was paid not to take the stand and testify?
---
A fellow BCer pointed this out: Eva (a.k.a. Ava) Gabor was in Green Acres, not Zsa Zsa, but what the difference. If you knew one Gabor, you knew all 3.
---
Online headline: "Van der Sloot, Holloway Inspire Film" -- All BCers are now being put on notice; any BCer who goes to a movie house or watches a film on Van der Sloot will be dismissed from the Breakfast Club with no appeal.
---
Online story: "July 26) -- Cash-register receipts from many fast-food outlets, groceries, pharmacies, big-box stores and U.S. post offices contain high levels of the endocrine-disrupting chemical bisphenol A. * A study released late today by the Environmental Working Group reported that a laboratory analysis it commissioned found the plastic component BPA on 40 percent of receipts from McDonald's, CVS, KFC, Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, Safeway and other businesses. -- What a 'journolists' eureka! How many times does an opportunity arise that a 'journolist' can take a swipe at McDonald's, KFC, Walmarts and BPa in one sentence?
---
Online headline: "Freak Bronx Tornado Reaches 100 MPH, Wreaks Havoc" -- Wonder if potUS Nero-bama will declare it was part of his "stim-YOU-LIE" program to clean up the streets.
---
Hmmm, Midnight Basketball...could no one see "Midnight Bingo" coming?
---
L-E "soundoff": "I am a firefighter in Columbus and would never trade places with a teacher for twice the money. If not for them, you would not be able to read this." -- My love of reading was nurtured by my parents before I stepped in school classroom.
---
98 days to November election, 98 DIMorats for recall, take a DIM/DUMB down, pass tickets home around, 97 more DIMs need to take a fall.
---
Just the thought of the potential to dispense suicide bombers from a Mosque located in "Ground Zero" of the 911 attack is enough reason to deny its construction.
---
Looks like Sanford Bishop's press secretary will get a raise. The L-E editorial is the 5th time she got the point out to DIM/DUMBorat voters.
---
This is probably not news to BCers, but Shirley Sherrod was already fired by potUS Nero-bama/Vilsack hours before any of the NAACP released tape was ever aired. Not only has the story within her story been dissipated, the potUS Nero-bama administration has diverted the attention away from AG Holder's racist dismissal of the New Black Panther Party intimidation-at-the-poll situation.
---
L-E headline/story: "New home sales up, but slowing down * Sales are down 72 percent from their peak annual rate of 1.39 million in July 2005. More than 600,000 new homes were sold annually from 1983 through 2007. After the housing bubble popped, sales plunged to 375,000 last year. That was the weakest yearly total on records dating back to 1963." -- Gotta watch those headlines; the truth may be skewed if you don't read the story itself.
---
L-E headline: "Airlines posting profits so fare sales drying up" -- Typical mistake of government regulated businesses....when a breath of fresh air appears, they've forgotten what got them to this point; treating their customers right.
-------------------------

The Breakfast Club - July 26, 2010

Regardless of the context, regardless of eventual outcome, whether you worked for the government or in the private sector, but when a person came to you for help, and the color of his/her skin, or the thickness of his/her wallet made you think/decide to do less than your best to help, you were a racist or bigot or class biased at that time. You were wrong! It doesn't matter whether you were Senator Byrd or Shirley Sherrod.
---
L-E headline: "ANALYSIS: PRIMARY VOTING IN MUSCOGEE COUNTY * HOW WE VOTED * HANDEL RUNS STRONG, BUT SO FAR BARNES TRIUMPHS LOCALLY IN GUBERNATORIAL BALLOTING" -- Tim Chitwood is obviously not an accomplished political analyst. I do use the word 'stupid' lightly when describing another's thoughts or ideas, but when a person analyzes the results of dual party primary results, and makes an assessment as to which victor is stronger compared to the other based on votes received, that is stupid.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today, “A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” — George Bernard Shaw (born this date in 1856, died 1950)." -- I used to agree with this 100%, but the 2008 election has changed my mind. If those who voted for DIM/DUMBorats had not gone to the polls, they would have made the future of this country a great deal more honorable by doing nothing.
---
A L-E "soundoff": "June was the hottest month on record. Rush Limbaugh, is the debate back on over global warming? Got something to say?" -- Lets see...winter was the coldest in most parts of the country....what's your point?
---
Another L-E 'soundoff': " School teachers now have to pay for their child to go to Columbus schools. They stay late every day, work during summer breaks, use their own money — doesn’t make any sense! " -- Lets see, they avoid paying property taxes which support their salaries, and they don't pay the SPLOST tax on purchases they make for home services. They should never have been allowed to send their children to Muscogee County schools for free.
---
Mayor Wetherington should not have to be the driving force behind the Parks & Rec audit investigation. Once it was discovered, the City Manager should have cleaned house of employees not complying with City laws and regulations governing departmental procedures.
---
L-E headline: "Tony Hayward said to be leaving as BP CEO * Public relations gaffes push chairman out during Gulf spill " -- Dang! if public relations gaffes worked to get rid of politicians, we'd have something to feel good about! Just in the last couple of weeks, potUS Nero-bama, VPOTUS Biden-Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid would all have been packing for home.
---
When Chris Wallace inform the tirading Howard Dean that Fox News did not even run the Sherrod/NAACP speech until after she had been fired by Nero-bama/Vilsack, Dean paused for a second and took his foot out of his mouth. Then he put it back in and continued gnawing it off. Reminded me of one of out past mayors (the one between Feighner and Martin).
---
L-E headline/story: "Chavez warns of U.S. oil cutoff in Colombia dispute * CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez threatened on Sunday to halt oil sales to the United States if Venezuela faces any military attack by its U.S.-allied neighbor Colombia. * Chavez said that “we wouldn’t send one more drop” of oil to the United States, which is the top buyer of oil from the South American country" -- Shut him off, shut him down, shut him up! Citgo must go! While we're at it, shut Mexico off, too, until Mexico helps shut down the border crossings on its side.
---
From the 'it's not one world' department: L-E story: "MEXICO CITY — Mexican prosecutors say guards at a prison let inmates out and lent them guns to massacre 17 people at a party, then allowed them to return to their cells." -- Gosh, then what's a little border crossing, boys will be boys, huh. Geez!

The Breakfast Club - July 25, 2010

Online story: "In Chicago, officials say more than 7 inches of rain fell early Saturday, inundating the sewer system and overwhelming waterways. " -- Now it will smell like it did before potUS Nero-bama, Rahm Emanuel, and Arne Duncan left and went to Washington - fishy and slimy.
---
Online headline: "White House Expects Unemployment Above 9% Until 2012" -- Guess potUS Nero-bama figures that many on unemployment will vote for him to keep their checks coming. Otherwise, they'd be working again and seeing how much the new tax rates were affecting their paychecks and would vote against him!
---
Online headline: "Six Reasons to Expect Slow Economic Growth Ahead" -- Without reading I'd say, potUS Nero-bama, Nanct Pelosi, Harry Reid, House DIM/DUMBorats, Senate DIM/DUMBorats, and number 6 would be a toss up between unemployment & increased government taxes/regulations.
---
Looking back at how potUS nero-bama has shot from the lip before thinking issues through, why does he have access to our missile launching buttons?
---
A reminder from a fellow BCer: "The Washington Post reported again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush. So once more, a short civics lesson:
Budgets do NOT come from the White House. They come from Congress, and
the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic
Party.
---
Just watched a video a fellow BCer sent concerning Ford's most advanced assembly plant in Brazil. Looking at the number of robotics used in assembly versus humans, the video should be renamed, "Star Cars".
---
Passed on from a family member:
Starting Aug 1, Georgia will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. The rest to help with dwindling budgets. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 7 main intersections and highways. They are the following:
I-20 east and west
I-75 north and south
I-85 north and south
I-675 north and south
GA-985 north and south
GA-316 east and west
GA-400 north and south
5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in the Atlanta area, you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.
WSB and WXIA & CBS confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.
Look for city and county governments to adopt similar polices in the near future. -- Judging from the aggressive hiding stations I've recently observed Columbus Police using on River Rd and Whiteville Rd, I'd say it has/will be started soon here in River City.
---
L-E headline: "Zsa Zsa Gabor remains critical" -- Gimmee a break (no, I'm not being insensitive to her plight), but why is Zsa Zsa Gabor worth a headline in any newspaper? Her claim to fame was being a misfit in "Green Acres", but she's being fawned over more than Sister Teresa ever was.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “Life is not a matter of milestones, but of moments.” — Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy (1890-1995). " -- Sometimes life is a millstone...like when you remember the exact moment potUS Nero-bama was sworn in.
---
L-E "soundoff": "Gov. Christie of New Jersey could get my vote to be my mayor, my governor or my president with the way he is tackling these public service unions and limiting tax increases and budgets by 2 percent a year. " -- While this does seem 'good' compared to what other elected governors/the President, and Congress are doing, what we need is elected official willing to reduce the budgets and size of government so that a fair tax would be enough to pay for such services/intrusions and provide a surplus so tax decreases could be considered in the future.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — Attorneys for Wesley Snipes want to question the jurors who convicted the movie star of tax-related charges to determine whether any had made up their minds about the trial before it started. " -- The real question to be asked by Snipes and his attorney is whether he had any doubt that he was doing something illegal to begin with.
---
L-E headline: "AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY * Christian student files suit against university * School says master’s candidate must change beliefs, suit states " -- Where is the encouragement for diversity and freedoms of thought, voice, and religion? Freedom of thought, voice, and religion are guaranteed in our Constitution, but I cannot find the Amendment for 'diversity'.
---
We have an overload of property tax exempt buildings/property here in Columbus for religious/school interests. While I pretty much support the exemptions, those 'businesses' conducting school or religious interest should have to pay/contribute some towards police and fire protection. Sure would relive the taxpaying property owners.
---
We used to be members of the BBB until we asked them to issue a warning to other businesses about a business that issued us a bad check. Didn't ask the BBB to collect it, but only to warn other members. The BBB refused, so we ended our membership. While we still operate on the principals of the BBB, the BBB offered no service for us to deserve continued support.
---
Go, Larry Mize! You, too, Sam Mitchell!

On another note: It's about time for Tony Adams and Isaiah Hugley to 'go', but in a different way. On further thought, it's passed time.....

The Breakfast Club - July 24, 2010

L-E headline/story: "Mayor: Adams shouldn't be in Orlando with Blazers * “He is under a criminal investigation,” Wetherington said. “That is why we put him on administrative leave.” * Wetherington said it was not his call whether or not Adams could coach the teams. He said that rests with City Manager Isaiah Hugley. “That’s the city manager’s call if he will allow him to continue to participate in the Innovative Sports Program,” Wetherington said." -- The Mayor is right on; now, the Mayor and Council have a call to make about Isaiah Hugley's future.
---
L-E headline: "Contractor finishes $140,000 in repairs on faulty storm sewer * Pipe on 17th Street and 17th Avenue failed because of its age, record rainfall in 2009" -- Excuse me, but didn't the CWW state that the bond issue in the early 90's was to replace all the sewer pipes in Columbus? Why are we still finding 'old' pipes?
---
Looks like some political jockeying for 2012 is going on in the GOP. Newt Gingrich has endorsed Nathan Deal, while Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney have come out for Karen Handel for the run-off election. Don't know what to think about this. Romney vacate the GOP primaries too early, Gingrich dropped off the Congressional list, and Palin quit her governorship. Not good track records.
---
Online story: "Lindsay Lohan Breaks Down After Wardens Rip Out Hair Extensions, Eyelashes: Report" -- Heaven help her if she breaks a nail! What she, and every other Hollywood "Bratz" needs is to be transferred to Arizona and serve under Joe Arpaio when they start thinking the law does not apply to them!
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — An aide to Rep. Sanford Bishop is apologizing for sending campaign-related material through the congressman’s taxpayer-funded email and posting it on his congressional website. * Ashton McRae, Bishop’s press secretary, called the release an error. The news statement, issued Wednesday, criticized Bishop’s Republican opponent, Mike Keown. * Members of Congress are barred from using their public offices, staff or other resources to promote their campaigns" -- Hmmm, let me parse this: She sent out a campaign e-mail in error; she posted it to the Congressman's website; she issued a statement to the fact on Wednesday; she got it printed in the Congressman's district newspaper on Saturday. Hmmm, I'd say she's gotten away with doing something illegal 4 times this week, and the media has been duped to accommodate her. Not bad for doing something illegal. Resignation?
---
From L-E story: "Handel said she would support reducing or even eliminating the state’s personal income tax while raising sales revenue." -- How regressive! The sales taxes our customers pay on sales already exceeds the 'net' we actually realize, and she wants to raise the sales taxes? On paper, it might seem workable to her, but the reality is that even more sales will be driven into the "underground economy", and no taxes will be collected by the state or city, and the existing 'underground economy' of the vice and drug world won't be affected.
---
L-E headline: "Democrats face unsavory choices in Rangel case " -- Actually, not! The choice for DIM/DUMBorats is whether or not they are going to continue to allow such actions in Congress. Unfortunately, the citizens of the other 434 Congressional Districts have had to put up with what the the voters of Rangel's district sent to Washington.
---
L-E headline/story: "California town outraged to learn of officials’ pay * Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo made $787,637 a year, getting a series of raises since being hired in 1993 at $72,000. President Obama makes $400,000. * Assistant City Manager Angela Spaccia made$376,288 a year. Police Chief Randy Adams earned $457,000. Hired just last year to oversee a force of fewer than 50 people, he was making 50 percent more than Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck’s $307,000." -- Hmmm, don't you now wonder what the head of Parks and Recreation made?
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Is President Barack Obama afraid of talking about race? Of being seen as too black? As an anti-white racist?" -- Didn't the way he and the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party members who violated voting protocol in Philly, and the way ACORN was supported in voter fraud, and jumping to conclusion about the Boston Police pretty much define potUS Nero-bama's racial bias?
---
L-E headline: "India unveils $35 tablet computer" -- What's it going to be called, "Orange"?
---
How much more can we take? Senator Harry Reid is trying to take credit for Ford's rebound happening because of the 'bailout' he initiated. Senator Reid, GM and Chrysler participated in your bailout; Ford didn't. Hurry November!

The Breakfast Club - July 23, 2010

Online headline: "House Panel Charges NY Rep. Rangel With Ethics Violations" -- Two questions - 1 - What are the DIM/DUMBs going to do about it, and 2 - Why has it taken 40 years to decide this?
---
Online headline: "Obama: Vilsack 'Jumped on the Gun' on Firing Shirley Sherrod" -- Gimme a break! Vilsack wouldn't blink without direct orders from potUS Nero-bama. Look for Vilsack's resignation in the days to come. Anyone want to start a 'pool'?
---
Online story: "General Motors announced Thursday that it is acquiring AmeriCredit (ACF) in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.5 billion, or $24.50 per share of ACF -- a 24% premium over its closing price of $19.70 Wednesday. As an auto finance company, AmeriCredit will be able to help GM to meet customer demand for leasing and nonprime financing for GM vehicles." -- Aside from the fact that GM is spending taxpayer dollars to do this, why would GM buy another finance company to make loans on cars? Wouldn't you think loaning the $3.5 BILLION dollars directly to customers through existing options would be cheaper and more efficient?
---
Online headline: "Obama on new law: 'No more taxpayer bailouts' " -- Excuse me? Seems to me the taxpayers have been 'piled on' rather than given 'tax bailouts'.
---
How appropriate is it to be able to say two more masseuses have stepped forward to state Algore groped or propositioned them. I guess it's safe to say masseuses are coming out of the 'wood work'.
---
From a fellow BCer: " Where to put Obama's picture?!?!?!?!?!
George Washington, our nation's first president and leader of the
American Revolution!!
Abe Lincoln, honorable leader pulled our nation through its darkest time!!
Alexander Hamilton, founding father, first secretary of the treasure and leader of the constitutional convention!!
Andrew Jackson, "Old Hickory" fought the British in New Orleans!!
Ulysses Grant, Union army general, lead the North through the Civil War!!
Ben Franklin, Genius inventor, political theorist and leading author of the constitution.
FINALLY, WE HAVE SOMEONE TO PUT ON THE FOOD STAMP!!!!!!!
Obama's policies will put more people on welfare than any president before him so this placement is most appropriate. Unlike the Nobel Peace Prize, for which he did nothing, this is an "honor" he richly deserves.
---
L-E headline: "Parks & Rec probe: Nike attorney refuses to give city attorney's office copy of contract" -- OK, then stop the paid part of Adams' and Porter's 'administrative leave' until one of them comes up with their copy.
---
There was a time when Little League Inc would not authorize a game to be played on a Sunday unless every other option had been explored and exhausted; now tournament games are routinely scheduled. Norman Rockwell, where are you!
---
L-E headlines: "Teen pleads not guilty in drive-by shooting case * Man pleads not guilty to child molestation" -- Hmmm, if convicted later, shouldn't charges be added that they lied under oath?
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “To be proud and inaccessible is to be timid and weak.” — Jean Baptiste Massillon , French clergyman (1663-1742)." Does this not perfectly describe Nero-bama, Pelosi, and Reid?
---
L-E story: "DECATUR, Ala. — A former elementary school teacher convicted of sex crimes in February has received $122,876 in salary from Morgan County Schools while on paid administrative leave for the past 34 months, The Decatur Daily reported Thursday. * The newspaper said Jessica Heather DeFoor, 36, has continued to be paid about $3,614 a month since she was put on leave nearly three years ago after being accused of having a sexual encounter with an 18-year-old and his 14-year-old sister and buying alcohol for them. * DeFoor was accused of giving the 14-year-old girl an alcoholic beverage and having sex with the girl’s 18-year old brother with the girl in the room." -- Unbelievable! This is not California, not some third-world country, but in our neighboring state!
---
At this point, why is BP continuing with its plan to bore into the old well pipe? If something goes wrong, there'll be a worse situation than existed before. Why not slip some sort of collection pipe over the current 'cap', then reopen the valves and collect the oil?
---
Why does the L-E bury the story of DIM/DUMBorat Charles Rangel being charged with ethics violations on page A-8, but runs a mundane, at best, story on Republicans Handel & Deal concerning finance issues of a run-off? Maybe the L-E thinks the Rangel problem will go away if the L-E shuts its eyes real tight!
---
L-E headline: "Obama signs unemployment bill " -- Huh! Would we be better off if potUS Nero-bama signed an EMPLOYMENT bill?
---
Have you seen the teaser stories on what Congress has spent over $1.2 Billion dollars on in the last 9 months? And we wonder why Congress can't operate on a balanced budget.. Well, actually we don't; we know.
---
L-E headline: "Fed chief tells Congress economy needs stimulus " -- Would someone tell Bernanke, they've already done that and have the debt to prove it! The best stimulus this country could get right now would be to suspend Congress without pay until after the November elections!

Online headline: "Tales of the Deep: Breaching Whale Belly-Flops on Yacht" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this might have been an Algore sighting.
---
Online headline: "British PM Brings the Funk With Graffiti Gift for Obama" -- Hmmm.. Payback? After potUS Nero-bama's choices to send a gift bust of Churchill back to England, his gifts of wrong format DVDs, giving an iPod of his speeches to the Queen et al, this could be revenge, and the British PM was cryptically sending Nero-bama a slap in the face.
---
From a fellow BCer serving overseas who still has a wonderful sense of humor:
The heat index in Columbus: Weather: Heat index expected to hit 104
It's going to be hot and sunny today, with a high near 98 and heat index values reaching 104.

The heat in Iraq without an index-125.

If I wanted an index I would buy a book.
---
Online headline: "8 Gay Activists Arrested in Reid Protest on Vegas Strip" -- Don't you love it when those in servitude rise up against their oppressors?
---
Online story: "Researchers are reporting a breakthrough against AIDS. A vaginal gel containing an AIDS drug cut in half a woman's chances of getting HIV from an infected partner." -- Wow! This should excite all promiscuous and adventuresome women. A product that's no better than a coin toss in protecting them for a bad choice. "No!" is a much better answer!
---
Online headline/story: "Dixon Recyclable Golf Balls Attract Celebrity Attention * The balls are totally recyclable and made from processable materials." -- There's one flaw with Dixon's claim of being eco-friendly. The ball is not biodegradable.

Before you get wrapped (or rapt) up in the Shirley Sherrod case, check this out... could be the tip of the iceberg. I remember Sanford Bishop crowing about this settlement not to long ago.
American Thinker Blog: Forty Acres & a Mule -- Sherrod Style?

Online headline: "Clinton Ready for New Sanctions" --Ooops, my bad! Thought Bill was going to wean himself off new interns, but it was about the other Clinton.
---
Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) is 76.
---
L-E "soundoff" : " I graduated from Jordan High in 1968, and I’d put my education against any Columbus High graduate from that date forward." -- Let's see, when I was at Columbus High, I was taught that once I had completed the school's requirements, and given my diploma, I would be allowed to declare, "I was graduated from Columbus High School."
---
Senator Chris Dodd and Representative Barney Frank brought down the mortgage/housing market with their legislation, and now potUS Nero-bama has signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act into law. Grab your wallet and buckle up for another economic bungee jump (and hope the bungee cord is not longer than the drop zone).

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Online story: Charlie Crist staged a photo-op demonstration on the Gulf Coast of his concerns against off-shore drilling close to Florida. As demonstrated by the following "photo", it was about symbolism, not substance. The 'photo' is suppose to show "Hands across the Sand", but what it is is a staged, and cropped, photo of about 15 people who, based on their 'beach apparel', look like their total visit to the beach was the time it took to take the 'photo'.
---
L-E story: “Tony Adams and Herman Porter are committed to providing opportunities to youngsters,” Jackson said. “That commitment remains strong.” -- Of course, as Parks&Rec employees of the City of Columbus, they were expected to provide these opportunities for children of Columbus.
---
L-E headline: "City still searching for tenants to fill rest stations for Columbus Fall Line Trace" -- To quote a definitive movie line, "What we have here is a failure to communicate". Cool Hand Luke would have known the concept of retail space on the "CFLT" has been led by 'good intentions', not good business sense, and we know the 'CFLT' is paved with good intentions as is another well known road. First, for a serious cyclist, the 11 miles is, at best, a 30 minute venture each way, BUT flat, contained routing is not the challenge of a serious cyclist. Secondly, what hours does a retail spot choose to be open? Casual cyclists will only use it for weekends, and at best very early in the morning or after work during week days, and the heat of summer and the cold of winter will discourage those riders, especially if they have children. Back to the drawing boards!
---
L-E headline: "Workers file racial discrimination suit against Muscogee County School District" -- After reading the complaint and response, it seems the plaintiffs have better chance suing their lawyers, The Law Firm of Golden and Malachi, LLC, for using the phrase, "Good Ole Boy” network" as a legal phrase.
---
L-E headline: "DEAL, HANDEL TO SQUARE OFF IN RUNOFF IN 3 WEEKS" -- Who'da thunk it! A run-off without Oxendine.
---
From the L-E's "Today in Hostory": "In 1980, draft registration began in the U.S. for 19-and 20-year-old men." -- Another bit of the Carter 'legacy'!
---
We have had 1 month of summer now, but in 3 weeks, our children will be back in school...something is very wrong with this picture.
---
L-E headline: "Lindsay Lohan begins jail sentence " -- This is not newsworthy...now, letting me know when she'll be released and be getting back behind of the wheel of a car is something every one needs to know!
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is standing by its quick decision to oust a black Agriculture Department employee over racially tinged remarks at an NAACP banquet in Georgia, despite evidence that her remarks were misconstrued and growing calls for USDA to reconsider. " -- I guess she's become the official sacrificial lamb for the failure of the DOJ to prosecute the NBPP members who tried intimidation tactics in a Philly polling place?
---
L-E's "Q U O T A B L E": “There’s no sense in being precise when you don’t even know what you’re talking about.” John von Neumann American mathematician (1903-1957) -- Finally, the source of the Liberal trail of campaign rhetoric and promises!
---
L-E story: "PARIS — China has overtaken the United States as the world’s largest energy consumer, the International Energy Agency said Tuesday. " -- As if the alarm clock hasn't been ringing for years, this is the ultimate 'wake-up call' for the US to reinstate oil drilling and coal mining in the areas Congress and Presidential Executive Orders have been responsible for stopping.
---
Interloper Nissan...either get a taller flag pole or use a smaller US flag. There's no way the flag that fly on site can be flown appropriately at 'half mast' when needed.

The Breakfast Club - July 20, 2010

Ben Jealous... after seeing the NAACP speech given by Shirley Sherrod bragging about denying help to a GA farmer specifically because he was white, are you, or are you not, going to admit that this was a racist comment made by a black racist? Same for you Edward DuBose!
---
Online headline: "Steak House offers $50,000 for Puck" -- Good luck! Wish I could return it, but I was able to down it anyway.
---
Online headline: "New Laser Weapon Blasts Spy Drones Out of the Sky * Raytheon today touted its new weapon, which brought down four drones over the Pacific Ocean during tests conducted with the U.S. Navy this spring." -- Rumor has it that it will be sold under the "Nuke Sky Stalker" label, with hopes George Lucas won't sue for trademark infringement.
---
Online headline: "California's Latest Revolt: Against Smart Electric Meters" -- Suspicions confirmed! Previously, Californians have revolted against smart water usage, smart immigration laws, and smart political decisions.
---
WTVM9 headline/story: "Convicted rapist captured in Quitman County * (Samuel) Simmons (a.k.a. Samuel Shabaz) received a life sentence for a rape charge in Florida and was out on supervised parole. According to Florida authorities Simmons violated his parole and went missing in 1990. * Simmons has been living in Quitman County for about ten years; he has a Georgia driver's license and is registered as a voter under the name of Samuel Shabaz." -- GA driver's license; registered voter? How does a person become a registered voter and driver without documentation? Why do you think the DIM/DUMBorats want amnesty for illegal aliens, and easy driver's licenses for illegal aliens?
---
Online headline/story: "New Black Panther Leader: A Black Man Can't Be a Racist * A black man really -- or a black leader -- cannot be a racist. You cannot take the slave who takes the whip from the slave master and begins beating the slave master -- you cannot call the slave a reverse racist. * White people have not experienced racism, Jim Crow, and terrorism the way my people have. I (Malik Shabazz) have the right to use different language." -- Well, Mr Shabazz, how do you make the current black-on-black slave industry in Africa today go away? Since not all slave master are white, your premise is wrong and you are just an angry, hateful racist when you suggest, no, project your disdain for whites in general and white babies specifically.
---
When are the DIM/DUMBorats and liberal media types going to get out their old Bush 41 sound bites/bumper stickers saying, "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" applied to potUS Nero-bama?
---
L-E headline: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD * Board toughens tuition policy

* Parents will now have to sign affidavit stating they are county residents; " -- While I think this is good start, it doesn't go far enough. How about having parents signing a form that they are American citizens, or have at least legal immigration status. One other thing; if parents are required to be residents of Muscogee County, why can't the MCSD require teachers/administrators in Muscogee County schools be residents of Muscogee County!
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “Courage without conscience is a wild beast.” — Robert G. Ingersoll, American lawyer and politician (1833-1899). " -- Conversely, conscience without courage is the liberal's mantra.
---
It would be a lot better for this country if potUS Nero-bama were more concerned about helping the economy create jobs than his concern about extending unemployment benefits for over two years.
---
I haven't checked this out personally, but the source is usually credible. potUS Nero-bama sent the White House dig, BO, to the family vacation home ahead of the First Family. Not so bad in itself, but they sent him in his own private jet!

The Breakfast Club - July 19, 2010

Ben Jealous of the NAACP asks the T.E.A. Party groups to "separate from" and 'denounce' racist in their midst, and the T.E.A. Party groups have. Now, Mr Jealous, it's your turn to do the same for the NAACP and the NBPP.
---
Online headline: "Who the "Angriest Man in the World" wants to punch" -- Ooops, my bad! Thought Algore had come out of hiding and gave an interview about Tipper divorcing him.
---
VPOTU Biden says that he and potUS Nero-bama do not believe the T.E.A. Party groups are bigots and racists. Hmmm, guess that sine he and Nero-bama are the head of the DIM/DUMBorat Party which is the largest coalition of racist, bigoted, and single issue organizations, they know what a racist and bigoted political organization actually looks like.
---
L-E headline: "Fort Benning ends property management contract with Pinnacle; files lawsuit alleging fraud" -- Excuse me, but how does replacing a corrupt Property Management company with another on which has hired 90% of the employees from the preceding company help with the problem?
---
L-E headline: "Strong aftershocks shake Alaska island region" -- Ooops, my bad, again. Thought some reporter had secretly taped the Palins discussing their real feeling about Levi Jihnston following their public statement about him.
---
L-E headlien: "Poll: Georgians upset with their lawmakers' performance" -- The L-E could have put any of the other 49 states into this headline and been correct, but I want to know why the L-E has to actually pay for such a poll when 10 minutes worth of man-on-the-street interviews would have revealed this.
---
Congratulations, Lions; now, does anyone know when the real football season starts?
---
L-E headline: "Flu shots may start arriving in mail" -- Sure hope my shot is shipped by either UPS or FedEx so it will arrive in time to be of any value.
---
L-E headline: "Zsa Zsa Gabor to undergo surgery to replace hip" -- Ooops my bad, again. Read too fast and thought it said "Lips", but learning she is 93, I'll bet she's grateful HELL-thScare hasn't gone into effect and having to wait while government agents decided whether she could have the operation.
---
Online headline: "Obama Bashes GOP on Unemployment extensions" -- What the real headline should be is "GOP bashes potUS Nero-bama on unemployment figures"
---
L-E story: "Gaza’s Hamas rulers have banned women from smoking water pipes in cafes, calling it a practice that destroys marriages and sullies the image of the Palestinian people." -- Of course, men doing such cleans up the image of the Palestinian people....
---
L-E headline: "First family vacation wraps up" -- Hope you note that potUS Nero-bama did not take his family to the Gulf Coast.
---
L-E story: "The Oakland City Council on Tuesday will look at licensing four production plants where pot would be grown, packaged and processed into items ranging from baked goods to body oil. Winning applicants would have to pay $211,000 in annual permit fees, carry $2 million worth of liability insurance and be prepared to devote up to 8 percent of gross sales to taxes." -- DOH! Why not just give their customers a 'free sample" then double the price and charge them 100% in taxes; who's know or even care or remember?
---
L-E "Q U O T A B L E": “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
Carl Sagan American astronomer (1934-1996)" -- Must have been cited during a Larry KIng Live interview about CNN versus Fix News.
---
If you haven't, you should drive by Interloper Nissan and see the US Flag flying there. It's beautiful, it's HUGE, but I think the flag pole is too short for the flag size. I don't think that flag can be flown at half-mast, when appropriate, without desecrating it by letting it touch the ground.

The Breakfast Club - July 18, 2010

Online story: "WASHINGTON (July 17) -- Election watchdogs have directed Joe Biden's 2008 presidential campaign to pay the U.S Treasury more than $219,000 to resolve issues caused by sloppy bookkeeping and accepting excessive contributions, including a discounted flight on a private jet." -- So much for voluntary campaign ethics starting at the top.
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON (July 17) -- The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the U.S. to send two Guantanamo Bay prisoners back to Algeria even though they want to remain at the prison camp because of fear they might be tortured at home." -- Two thoughts come to mind: 1, they are mimicking Br'er Rabbit's ploy of 'please don't throw me into the brier patch, or 2, is Camp Gitmo's life style is far better than they had at home?
---
Online headline: "Obama Claims GOP Is Obstructing 'Our Progress' " -- "Our Progress"? Republicans are just playing 'bump & run' defense to prevent any more "HELL Mary" Congressional "passes" until November.
---
L-E "soundoff": "Dick Cheney had heart surgery where he had a pump and monitor put in. Who would have thunk it that the $6 million man would look like Cheney and not Lee Majors? " -- Have you seen Lee Majors in the hearing aid commercial? Cheney wins!
---
Froma Harrop.. she should be the Poster Child for the Ultimate DIM/DUMBorat. Claims she's an Independent, bashes Bush budget deficits while ignoring potUS Nero-bama's, and would vote to re-elect Nero-bama regardless of who runs against him as a Republican. Why is this person allowed to voice her opinion publicly?
---
In short, every new government job, and every new government program either delays or undermines our economic recovery. One too many of either can collapse it. Don't you feel like the proverbial camel?

The Breakfast Club - July 17, 2010

Online headline: "Another House Investigation: Are Congressional Ethics a Contradiction?" -- Contradiction? Nah, just an ordinary oxymoron.
---
L-E headline: "Three Republicans hope to unseat Rep. Bishop in November" -- Huh? Only 3? I would imagine EVERY Republican, most Independents, and a few DIM/DUMBorats would like to 'retire' Congressman Bishop. Problem is..are there enough in District 2 to do it.
---
L-E headline: "Poll: Most voters want Arizona-style law in Georgia" -- Hmmm, you know, there is already a Federal law on the books, probably many laws, that are more stringent than the new Arizona law, so we really wouldn't need a new law like Arizona's if the Feds would simply do their jobs and enforce the existing laws!
---
We knew John Daley had bad taste in women and vices, but his clothes at the British Open have created a new category of extreme bad taste.
---

Tip from a fellow BCer: Our mayoral candidate, Teresa Obamalinson, has a penchant for political donations only to DIM/DUMBorats (and lawyers). Check it out at:

http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=name&lname=tomlinson&fname=Teresa&search=Search

Copy and paste the entire 2 lines above.

From WTVM9 story: "Attorneys for Orbitz and the city recently reached a settlement in that case. * The city will get $450,000. According to the settlement agreement, the amount covers back hotel-motel taxes, plus other expenses like attorney's fees." -- Wait a minute...I was under the impression that the City was not being billed for legal services. I understood that Pope, Obamalinson et al asked the City to sign on so Pope, Obamalinson et al could expand the suit they filed for others. Any enlightenment out there?
---

Online headline: "Obama Says He Expects to Be 'Held Accountable' for Policies" -- Expects to be held accountable? potUS Nero-bama can count on it!
---
Wasn't Eric Holder the one who said Americans were cowards when it comes to talking about race? How much of a coward is he for not prosecuting the New Black Panthers who ran an intimidation campaign at a Philly polling place?
---
I guess there was rhyme and reason for potUS Nero-bama's International Apology Tour. Looks like potUS Nero-bama will need the practice in order to run a campaign of apology when he tries to get re-elected in 2012.
---
Eric Holder..Ben Jealous... How can you protect the rights of people of color unless you protect the rights of people who are colored white, too? No rights are protected unless those rights are protected for all.
---

I've known Tony Adams forever, and his abilities as a mentor are not in question, but answers need to be open and immediately forthcoming. The longer Tony hides behind his lawyer, the more questions get raised, and more detailed answers will become necessary.

These are questions that need to be addressed by Tony, now:

If the Nike program was intended to recognize and develop young talent in the area, why were the efforts aimed at outside recruiting rather than a community supported effort to recruit the best young talent city, even area, wide?

Why were not local businesses recruited to participate in this program?

Why were ad campaigns not run to inform all areas of Columbus (even the Valley) of these programs, and invite all to attend open tryouts?

Too many things, including the Parks & Rec employee created 'foundations" to seek grant money, just cannot be ignored, or go unaddressed and unresolved.
---
Roy Barnes' campaign promises to teachers make potUS Nero-bama's promises seem truthful. How can any candidate promise guaranteed job security, higher salaries, and smaller classes in any economic situation, but especially in the one we are in, Of course, he could be pulling a Clinton, as when Clinton promised a tax cut, but 'after trying his best' for 6 weeks, determined not only couldn't cut taxes, but was going to have to raise them. DIM/DUMBorats don't care for voters, they just want their votes at any cost.
---
potUS Nero-bama not only says he has a plan, he says he has a plan for everything! Jon Lovitz, "Yeah, that's the ticket" of Saturday Night Live fame, has to be potUS Nero-bama's speech writer, and Robert Gibb's comment advisor
---
From Kaffie Sledge: "Was Damon Evans set up? * Maybe. Maybe not. But it would have been impossible to set up a man who was at home with his wife and family." -- Why didn't she have the same standards of editorializing when she wrote about Kenneth Walker?
---
L-E headline: "Democrats enacted much of Obama’s agenda " -- DOH! When you think about it, though, when was the last time you heard an AP writer not blame Bush?

The Breakfast Club - July 16, 2010

Online headline: "University of Texas Board Rechristens Dorm Named After Klan Organizer" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Senator Byrd had sent a posthumous earmark to some place other than WV.
---
From story of above: "When the dorm was named after(Klan Organizer and Attorney/teacher William) Simkins 55 years ago, UT administrators apparently overlooked that part of his past." -- What a contrast to Senator Byrd. Byrd was given Senate absolution and canonized; bet Simkins wasn't a DIM/DUMBorat. Hmmm, wonder if WV will strip Klan Organizer (is that the same as a Community Organizer?) Byrd's name off all the buildings, bridges, and roads in a few years? Hope so.
---
L-E headline/story: "Ex-Columbus High teacher Cypert files petition to toss guilty plea * Convicted sex offender, former teacher claims attorney didn’t inform him consent of the student was a defense * According to his attorney, W****** M****, that means Cypert’s guilty plea should be set aside. That would put the case back at pre-trail status, and it couldn’t be prosecuted, M**** said." -- This is another example of how 99% of attorneys give the other 1% a bad name.
---
L-E headline/story: "Georgia voters support raising taxes for education funding * Statewide, 39 percent said they opposed paying more for education, and 11 percent were undecided. Women were more likely than men to support paying more for schools, and African-Americans more willing to do so than whites. Democrats were twice as likely as Republicans to support higher taxes or fees for education." -- Hmmm, looks like poll results shows that those who already pay most taxes are against more taxes, and those who don't pay much (if any) in taxes would agree to tax those who do some more. Who'da thunk?
---
From the story above: "Democrats were twice as likely as Republicans to support higher taxes or fees for education." -- Yet DIM/DUMBorat politicians get DIM/DUMBorat voters by promising only to raise taxes on other people. If a politician promises Paul he's going to rob Peter to pay Paul, all the Pauls will vote for that poltician.
---
L-E headline: "‘Gumball Bandit’ pleads guilty" -- The police say he's guilty, the video shows he's guilty, and the accused admitted he was guilty, but some Public Defender will want to pad his pay hours and say obviously his client was temporarily insane for admitting it (versus actually doing the crimes), and this will drag on for years. Another case of the 99%...
---
Passed on from another fellow BCer: "AP Atlanta Braves: Fans give Jason Heyward thumbs-up * ATLANTA — Hank Aaron expected Jason Heyward to make an immediate impact in a sport which needs young black stars" -- I remember Jason Heyward from his Henry County High days, and he's quite a ball player, but I hope he will achieve higher goals than Aaron hopes for. I hope Jason Heyward will become an immediate positive role model on and off the field as well for all races of sport stars.
---
Online story: "Petroleum giant (BP) confirms it lobbied British government about a prisoner transfer with Libya" -- Greasing up our coast line is bad enough, but greasing up politicians is criminal!
---
L-E headline/story: "Columbus crime: Police investigate series of burglaries on Sidney Simons, Armour Road * Classique Petique, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 10, was broken into between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. today. Someone shattered glass on the front door * Taiye Tailoring and Alteration, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 13, also had its front door glass broken * John Nails, 5300 Sidney Simons Suite 3, had its front door broken out * Someone broke inside Signature Salon, 4223 Armour Road, through the front door between" -- Hmmm, maybe someone should check again to see if someone has a sale on replacing glass in front doors....
---
L-E headline: "Shohreh Aghdashloo speaks out against stoning " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought some unkown-to-me rock star was speaking out against marijuana use at concerts.

The Breakfast Club - July 15, 2010

Nancy Pelosi called Robert Gibbs "inept".... think about that after what we, you, think about Nancy Pelosi. This is a lot deeper than just a pot calling a kettle black; it's a new dimension in name calling!
---
George Steinbrenner finally achieved his dream. He died in 2010 and beat IRS's bloodsucking estate taxes. George Steinbrenner beat death on Earth!
---
From L-E story: "Board member Rob Varner said he thought the district should be careful about using strict language in the affidavit, adding there could always be a reason why the district might decide not to prosecute someone trying to skirt the tuition policy." -- It's bad enough that teachers not living in Muscogee County are only going to pay half of the out of county/state tuition for their children attending MCSD schools, but what circumstance can Rob Varner deem legitimate for other non-residents falsifying records to skirt the tuition issue? Write Rob at rvarner@mcsdga.net and ask him?
---
Glad the Mayor clarified his $500,000.00 program for 150 youth for 3 months was never discussed with the Crime Prevention Board, but since the program was going to spend $1,100.00 per month per child using city owned facilities (and I assume city paid employees), I really would like to know exactly what the $500,000.00 was to be spent on.
---
From a L-E story: "In a letter Friday to Georgia Assistant Attorney General Calandra Harps, the attorney (Stacey Jackson) wrote: “There is no contract between Nike and the Georgia Blazers, Nike and the city of Columbus or Nike and the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.” -- Hmmm, I wonder if he would rephrase this statement and say either "There never HAS BEEN or WAS EVER a contract"..
---
A L-E "soundoff": "Teachers in the poorest socioeconomic schools should receive a bonus pay incentive. Why? Because they have to work twice as hard, often under deplorable conditions. Plus, that’s where we need the best teachers the most." -- This is all about liberalism and its "good intentions". The adage "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" comes to mind. The best teachers need to be teaching the best students; students that will excel with innovative and motivated guidance, but that would countermand the "dumbing down of all to level the playing field" attitude of education 'leaders'.
---
L-E headline: "Leading senators voice doubts about Afghan war " -- Corrected headline: "Samo-samo Senators voice doubts about (insert name here) war". The headline we need to see is "Senators vote to take the handcuffs off our soldiers in harms way and let them do what needs to be done to win"!
---
Bill O'Reilly had a guest defending the NAACP's president calling T.E.A. Parties "racist" by saying the NAACP was defending people of color's interests. First, white is a color, though excluded under his standards, but how can the NAACP defend/improve anyone's condition if the NAACP doesn't recognize the great strides that have been made in the last 60 years, nor acknowledge that for anyone to improve, all must be on the same page?
---
Don't you wonder how the NAACP (or the NCAA for that matter) can defend Savannah State's stripping players of any color of scholarships?
---
L-E headline: "Retail sales in June drop 0.5% June" -- Retail sales drop when people have less discretionary income or personal savings to use for wants, yet potUS Nero-bama and his corps of DIM/DUMBorats want to raise taxes and reduce discretionary income/ personal savings even more. Great plan for recovery.....NOT!
---
From a fellow BCer - bumper sticker: It's WE the People, not ME the President.
---

From a fellow BCer:
It seems like a miracle that our beloved leader was able to convince BP to establish a $20 billion slush fund (oops, escrow) to compensate those hurt by the ongoing oil plume in the Gulf of Mexico. After all, he had no constitutional power to force them to do so; so had to resort to Chicago-style negotiating.

But, let us take a closer look at the effect on BP’s finances:

1. BP will establish a $20 billion fund, but will pay only $7 billion into it during 2010.

2. BP is a British corporation, but has a very large operating entity in the US.

3. By Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAP), BP must book the entire $20 billion expense in the year accrued. Therefore, they will book a $20 billion expense in 2010, reducing their US tax liability by $7 billion.

4. Our dear leader also convinced this massive corporation to show their concern for the “small people” by withholding dividends to their shareholders for the last 3 quarters of 2010. This reduces their outward cash flow by about $7.5 billion, including approximately 40% of that amount to US citizens. Assuming that the Bush tax cuts will survive through 2010, the US Treasury will lose another $450 million in taxes on that amount. We won’t even discuss the effect on the US economy.

Let us put the results into a table easily understood by the small people:

· BP Cash Flow:

O Escrow funding ($7 billion)

o Dividend saving $7.5 billion

o Tax savings $7 billion

o Net favorable cash flow : $7.5 billion

· US Treasury Tax Receipts:

o BP Corporate income tax ($7.5 billion)

o BP Shareholders ($0.45 billion)

o Net unfavorable tax receipts ($7.95 billion)

I guess we really should expect this. After all, our dear leader is the most inexperienced man in any room he walks into. Question: Did the US Taxpayers just fund the first 1/3 of the BP Escrow commitment?

The Breakfast Club - July 14, 2010

From a fellow BCer:
In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:
- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
-- Hmmmmm, I guess this only applies to families making over $250,000.00 anually since potUS Nero-bama dramatically promised no one under that figure would see one more penney in new taxes.
---
From online political newsletter: "President Obama's New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New-START) with Russia could be his worst foreign policy mistake yet. " -- Now that's saying something... but it does makes sense in that it balances potUS Nero-bama's worst domestic policy mistakes...when potUS Nero-bama tries to float a balloon to see public sentiment, he's got a penchant for launching lead balloons, instead.
---
Online headline: "George Steinbrenner Dies at 80" -- Guess he died laughing at the Miami Heat's attempt to futilely copy him.
---
Repeat headline: "George Steinbrenner Dies at 80" -- Guess the players will wear "green $ signs" on their jerseys the balance of the season.
---
Online headline: "NAACP Resolution Condemns Racism in Tea Party" -- The NAACP leadership would be better off condemning it's own racism.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today, “A man must be both stupid and uncharitable who believes there is no virtue or truth but on his own side.” — Joseph Addison, English essayist and poet (1672-1719). -- Now here's something that should be inscribed over the door of the headquarters of the NAACP....pronto!
---
Online headline: "French parliament approves veil ban" -- Guess there'll be 335 French National Assembly representatives added to the hit list as soon as that cartoonist is eliminated.
---
L-E headline/story: "Obama names new budget director * WASHINGTON — Dogged by whopping federal deficits, President Barack Obama reached into the Clinton administration Tuesday for a new budget director who helped produce balanced budgets and surpluses a decade ago." -- Of course, that was when the Republicans took control of the House & Senate, and welfare reform led the way. potUS Nero-bama needs to hire David Copperfield if he wants his budget deficits to disappear.
---
L-E headline: "Missing Iranian scientist turns up in D.C." -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was about another illegal alien who slipped in across Arizona's border.
---
L-E headline: "UNWELCOME SURPRISE * Trade gap widens as imports and exports both rise" -- Just another indicator affected by illegal aliens working in our country, but sending their money back to Mexico for spending.
---
At a commencement speech, potUS Nero-bama insisted we need 'collective salvation'..excuse me Obama Wan Kenobi, but my salvation is based on my individual relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus died for me; potUS Nero-bama, would you? Besides, I think potUS is speaking in mixed-metaphors... the only 'collective salvations' I know about are in the teachings of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Castro, Chavez, Chairman Mao, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid who advocate 'collectivism' in providing for them is your only guarantee of survival.

The Breakfast Club - July 13, 2010

Online headline: "Three Republicans Break Ranks, Back Finance Bill" -- They may be Republicans in name, but they are not conservatives.
---
Online headline/story: "McDonald's alum to launch healthy fast-food restaurant * With healthier fare and vegetarian options at prices between $8 and $12 per meal, "Stephanie's" looks to be a little bit more than your typical fast food joint or rest stop fare." -- Guess kids will have to order a "crappy meal"; maybe with a Barbie doll prize?
---
Bill O'Reilly ran a poll last night: Which is the most boring? A - World Cup Soccer, B - LeBron James, C - Lindsay Lohan? -- It was a three way tie in my book, so I didn't bother to vote...I wasn't bored enough.
---
Guess Switzerland's government was so disappointed that it was included in potUS Nero-bama's 'apology tour' that it's playing nanny-nanny-poo-poo by not sending Roman Polanski back to the US.
---
L-E headline: "U.S. agencies outraged by Polanski decision " -- See above..bet the Swiss are shakin' in their boots....NOT!
---
If Jeffrey Immelt of GE had said the things he's saying now, the T.A.R.P bailouts and the HELL-thSCare bills would probably not passed, BUT he didn't and now I'm permanently boycotting everything GE...well, if it's made in Arizona, I'd probably buy it.
---
Fox News had some lawyer claiming to be the defense lawyer for the "barefoot bandit" on yesterday's 'Fox & Friends'. I want to know why Fox thinks the story in newsworthy, and why Fox gives the insolent pup any air time..
---
I'm curious...why does NASA endorse 'Rosetta Stone" language learning software? Is there a version that teaches Martian or Klingon?
---
Listening to Roy Barnes' ads promising teachers that he'll raise their pay, create more teaching jobs, and permanently eliminate 'furloughs' must mean 'Ole Roy' attended the "potUS Nero-bama School of Advanced Campaign Promises" and majored in 'Tax and Spend'.
---
WTVM9 headline: "Bubblegum bandit on the loose in Columbus" -- This could be a subterfuge for some glass repair service based on the number of windows/doors shattered to get the bubblegum machines...hmmmm
---
Online headline: "US Cartoonist Lands on Hit List for Muhammad Event" -- It's not one world.
---
So Bill Clinton is upset only 10% of the Haiti relief pledges have been honored; times must be tough in Hollywood."
---
A fellow BCer sent me an e-mail about an unreported 911 families' protest of the mosque being built at "Ground Zero". I hadn't seen it, even on Fox. It's inspiring to see, but even more despairing that, like racism, the national networks think 'insensitivity' is a one way street. E-mail back and I will forward it to you.
---
East Marietta Basketball doth protest too much! The response as to where they didn't send any money clearly suggests money was "laundered" another way. I'm sure our Police investigators will leave no stone unturned, but the exposure of past and present 'foundations' started & staffed by Parks&Rec personnel looks like an avenue worth scrutinizing closely.
---
L-E headline: "Attorney says no contract exists between sports nonprofit and Columbus city government" -- Like Clinton and his infamous "is" definition, the attorney of record does not say that a contract never existed.
---
Al Sharpton is rearing his ugly head locally; obviously, he won't be able to see the sun.
---
From L-E story: "It’s a race that has taken on a new urgency in recent weeks as the two candidates have campaigned aggressively, and (former Tuskegee Mayor Johnny) Ford has mounted a renewed effort saying the ( 28th Senate) district should be represented by a minority." -- There goes the race card! Martin Luther King, Jr is rolling as we speak when we speak that we should measure a man by his color rather than his character.
---
An L-E "soundoff" of merit: " I wish the paper would write something on the fact that the Justice Department is not suing California for breaking federal drug laws, yet suing Arizona for breaking immigration laws. That would make a good story." -- Just a confirmation of my moniker for our President - potUS/POTus Nero-bama.
---
Another "soundoff" reminding us of perspective: " I can’t wait for football season to start and Auburn will go 14-0. War Eagle! " -- Remember when the seasons were 10 games against familiar opponents, and a bowl game if you had a good season? Wonder if player compensations have increased as well.....
---
L-E headline: "Noise pollution limits whale communication " -- Ooops, my bad! Thought this was about the infighting between the DIMorats and DUMBorats.
---
L-E headline: "Small companies denied credit as big firms thrive" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was about the DIM/DUMBorats campaign funding strategy,

The Breakfast Club - July 12, 2010

Online headline: "Holder Says Feds Will Watch for Racial Profiling if Arizona Law Takes Effect" -- Fair enough....and US citizens everywhere will be watching the Feds to see if they uphold our immigration laws, and prosecute the New Black Panthers who violate voting rights laws....We'll meet in November to discuss the issues.
---
L-E story: "(Roy) Barnes’ campaign is based on two conflicting ideas: one that acknowledges his flaws and failures, another that emphasizes his experience and competence." -- While the above two emphasize the existence of a living oxymoron, neither is indicative of his third campaign strategy...try to bribe the teachers back into the fold.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “The tragedy is not that things are broken. The tragedy is that they are not mended again.” — Alan Paton, South African author (1903-1988)." -- My guess is that the Founding Fathers are all nodding there heads in dismay.
---
It was 5:00 most of yesterday in Gulf Shores, AL, and Jimmy Buffet was on time!
---
The same crossing points for joggers/bicyclists using the former railway lines are the same ones they and their parents cursed at when the railroad cars blocked all automobile traffic during rush hour. How about charging a fee for joggers/bicyclists to use the trail, and use to money to build overpasses on the streets is needs to cxross; heaven knows the trail can use a few cardio challenges to break up the monotony of a super-flat railway bed.
---
L-E headline: "Wooden dinosaur poses modern-day problem * Artist at odds with town, some of his neighbors " -- Hmmm, bet if the artist had called the Library Board, the Board might have commissioned it.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — While they passed along no U.S. secrets, the 10 Russian sleeper agents involved in the spy swap posed a potential threat to the U.S. and received “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from Russia, Attorney General Eric Holder said." -- This is the same Attorney General who thinks voter intimidation at polling places, and illegal aliens crossing the borders in Arizona are no threat to the American way of life...go figure.
---
Why is GA Power Company allowed to run ads on how to save power/money then allowed to petition the PSC for rate increases because people are using less electricity?
---
L-E's "Q U O T A B L E": “A constitution should be short and obscure.” Napoleon Bonaparte French military and political leader (1769-1821) -- Sounds more like a self image description of himself. My personal belief is similar to our Founding Fathers; a Constitution needs to be succinct and sacred.

The Breakfast Club - July 11, 2010

Online headline: "Feds Say Gulf Seafood Safe to Eat" -- Hmmm, if I hadn't just been there and enjoyed my fill of seafood, I'd say the Fed evaluation could be a "kiss of death" for the seafood industry.
---
Online headline: "New Photos of Smiling Fidel Castro Posted on Web" -- Why shouldn't he? He has protege's running Venezuela to his South and the US to his North.
---
When Alvin M. Greene, upset winner of the DIM/DUMBorat SC Senate primary race, was asked, "If you could pick one age to be for the rest of your life, what would it be?" answered '25;. Bet the DIM/DUMBS wish that he was 25 because he would not be eligible to run for Senate. On the other hand, when have DIM/DUMBs been concerned whether their candidates were actually eligible for office?
---
L-E headline: "Players on bench with elite basketball program in limbo" -- Hmmm, in reality, it's the Parks&Rec coaches et al who should be 'on the bench'.
---
It's such a crock for the Parks&Rec persons attorney to try to use the basketball experience as a ticket to college. In Georgia, every basket ball player/dreamer can go to college by simply having a "B" average in high school. Maintaining a "B" in college will keep them in college, but being just a basketball player will not.
---
How much money has been spent on Comer Auditorium to get it looking like it does now? I remember Comer when I was playing in Junior High level basketball and when I played in the 'famous' "Bibb Tournament" later on . Comer Auditorium did not look anything like it does now. Hope there's a "Comer Audit", too!
---
While I seldom agree with, much less give much credit to the L-E political endorsements, I'd rather read what Dusty Nix writes about them than what a writer from Savannah writes. I don't know what the Savannah writer's leaning are, but with Nix, I know how much credibility to give his opinions.
---
L-E story: "Attorney General Thurbert Baker wants to open electronic bingo parlors operated by the state lottery and funnel the cash to classrooms. * (Former DIM/DUMB governor Roy Barnes is) pledging to eliminate a host of special interest tax exemptions but won’t yet say which ones." --Why would anyone believe either of these two? To raise a couple of billion dollars either way would mean taking a lot more than a couple of billion dollars out of Georgia citizens' pockets to pay for netting that much cash. That much taken out of local economies would keep the recession alive that much longer.
---
Ever notice how many robberies and assaults occur after midnight? How many could be eliminated if people followed the advice I learned as a youth, "nothing good happens after midnight", and just be home by then?
---
L-E headline: "Obama announces plans to help troubled veterans " -- How biased can one man be! Why doesn't potUS Nero-bama announce a plan that would help EVERY troubled American by securing our borders then resigning!
---
L-E commentary headline: "Obama vs. Arizona: Two wrongs, and no sign of a right — Chicago Tribune" -- Even the Chicago Trib is tired of potUS Nero-bama's Chicago-style politics. Don't you love it when libs eat their own?

The Breakfast Club - July 10, 2010

From a fellow BCer:

Online headline: "Homeless Man Rescues Flag and Inspires Nation" -- You know what was even more inspiring? CNN actually covered this , and did it in a positive manner. Hmmm Larry King, out; patriotism, in. Amazing!
---
Follow-up from a fellow BCer: "Legalizing marijuana is civil rights issue, California NAACP says" -- First the 'kettle', now the 'pot'; wonder how Edward BuBose supports this?
---
Online headline: "Air Force Aims to Launch 'Spy Pigeon' Drone by 2015" -- Wonder if it will have 'evasive flight training' to avoid being brought down by a falcon, and it must have a 'poop' function so it can watch anonymously while perched on a statue.
---
I'm confused over one aspect of the Gulf oil spill....how do the 'tar balls' figure in this? Isn't 'tar' basically a mixture of different chemicals that are use in making asphalt and as a seal for boats and roofing seams? How does an oil well produce tar/tar balls?
---
Looking at the picture of the Waveland, Mississippi beach scene on the front page of the L-E, I cannot understand why all the beach cleaner-uppers on Santa Rosa, Blue Mountain and Grayton Beaches in FL haven't beem moved to Mississippi where there is actual clean-up work to do...
---
potUS Nero-bama blasts POTUS Bush43 constantly over inheriting the current mess, but who's he going to blame his inheritance on during the next campaign? Can't you just see/hear him claiming he has the answers for problems created by the past administration?
---
Billy Beasley, candidate for an Alabama Senate race: Why don't you go ahead and announce your plan for creating 30,000 new jobs. Wouldn't you get those 30,000 votes if they have a job going into the November election?
---
L-E headline: "Police claim father taught 6-year-old son to build bombs " -- My Dad taught me only how to build Pinewood Derby cars when I was 6.
---
L-E headline: "Obama touts tax credits for clean-energy manufacturing " -- What good are tax credits if the product is not profitable?

With the signing Wade Bosh, and LeBron James, it makes you wonder if George Steinbrenner is a secret owner of the Miami Heat. Sure sounds like something he would do in an attempt to win.

The Breakfast Club - July 9, 2010

From a fellow (though not a 'fellow' in any way) BCer:
Candidate for picture of the year -

Online headline: "Secret Service confiscated twice as much counterfeit money as a year ago" -- Probably printed by the US as part of potUS Nero-bama's "economic surge plan". Now this is a surge that won't work!
---
Before any of potUS Nero-bama's press team makes a spin on what's going on in policy or general White House business, the spokespersons should be required to be hooked up to a polygraph machine that is monitored by a video camera so we know what is the real truth versus what the spin is.
---
potUS Nero-bama want a 1% consumption tax on all transactions made, even taking money out of your savings account to make another purchase. If potUS Nero-bama wants a new source of tax revenue, how about taxing legal fees, union dues, and political contributions, and all political campaign expenditures. In addition, all political campaign revenues not spent during a current election period should be turned in to the General Fund, rather than being held for future elections.
---
Another glorious day at the beach. We walked west on Grayton/Blue Mountain beach yesterday morning for about a mile & a half, During this walk we saw 74 people supposedly working on the oil cleanup, but since there was no oil to clean up, we counted 54 of those people sitting around in tents doing nothing, or driving port-a-lets between the tents, and the balance walking around doing nothing...nothing except collecting a paycheck for doing nothing. If there was any oil cleaned up, it was from the gas driven carts and tractors pulling port-a-lets around to the clean-up crew. If there was any oil cleaned up, it probably was dripped from those vehicles' engines as they idled doing nothing. The crews that have been hired look like none have ever been to the beach in their lives before this job. There is no uniform for them, and the only things they wear in common are non-beach clothing, blue antiseptic gloves, and some sorta yellow bootie over their shoes (except for two who wore red booties - guess they were either management or rookies).
---
If potUS Nero-bama truly wants to be a President of all the people, how come he only listens to 'his people", and he gives them jobs and powers by circumventing the input/confirmation of "our people"?
---
Why is it, no matter at what level, that government has only one solution to economic woe, and that's to raise or add new taxes, despite the fact that no tax revenue increase seems to solve the problem of the constant decline of quality of government services?
---
Online headline/story: "Breakdown: Queen Elizabeth's Budget Crunch * You know times are tough when even Queen Elizabeth II has to cut back. * While she's not exactly scraping by, reports have suggested she might be out of rainy day money by 2012 if her current spending habits continue." -- As Red Allen might have viewed it, there might be a taxpayer revolt in England and the US in 2012; 'how about that'!
---
L-E headline/story: "Fountain City Midnight Basketball League tips off tonight * The league provides a comprehensive crime prevention program for males 17-25 years of age and females 15 and over." -- Doh? Doesn't throwing in 15 year old girls into an environment of 25 year old men create a crime scenario?
---
I really feel sorry for the family of Kenneth Walker, primarily because they cannot, will not 'let go'. My next door neighbors 17 year old son died a couple of months ago in a tragic car wreck. He got into the back seat of a friends car for a ride home, and within the 2 mile ride, became victimized by the drivers decision to engage in a road race with another vehicle. Half way home, the driver lost control of the car, and hit a truck that crushed my neighbors' son. He was no more deserving to die than Kenneth Walker, but they suffered death because they made bad choices. I pray the Kenneth Walker family and their bitter 'friends' let go and seek peace with God. It's the same prayer I make for my neighbors.

The Breakfast Club - july 8, 2010

Online headline/story: "Tipper Gore Doesn't Believe Accusations Against Al, Friend Says * "Both Al and Tipper are baffled by the allegations across the board, frustrated to see his name dragged through the mud," the unnamed friend of the former second lady told People magazine." -- Besides, Algore has done a pretty good job at dragging himself through the mud with his I-net and Global Wafting claims.
---
Liberal spinmeisters are now saying potUS Nero-bama's amnesty plan is not just for legalizing illegal aliens so they can vote, but because they would become taxpayers. Huh? potUS Nero-bama is saying all those 11/12 million illegal aliens in this country are going to make and report over $250.000.00? That is the cap he campaigned on, isn't it?
---
Online headline: "McDonald's Defends Chemical Used in Chicken McNuggets" -- McDonald's is defending "chemicals" it intentionally adds to children's McNuggets? Nutrients, even 'additives' would be easier to "swallow" than McDonald's admitting it adds 'chemicals'. This will become the trial lawyers' feeding frenzy!
---
Why put the law on no texting while driving on the books if you aren't going to enforce it until another months passes? Do the state patrol/police believe everyone will voluntarily comply if they have a 31 day 'grace' period they can use to break the 'habit' rather than have to do so 'cold turkey'?
---
After exclaiming he felt a tingle run up his leg when potUS Nero-bama was elected, bet Chris Matthews is now wondering whether that tingle might have been a mind numbing taser shot fired by the mind police.
---
We're down at the Gulf. The beaches at Santa Rosa are beautiful and oil free..unless you count the oily looking staff walking around in droves wearing blue gloves and pony tails
trying to find tar balls. The only thing they are picking up is the trash from food & drink they brought with them.
---
With the number of people hired to walk around doing nothing on the beaches but ask each other whether they have seen any oil/tar balls, the jobs figures for employment should have shown a huge increase for June. The figures would really have been dismal without all the unnecessary ones walking/driving gas powered carts around the beaches here.
---
Run Lindsay, run; run Lindsay run; run Lindsay, run! Ooops, wrong Lindsay; sorry, UGA fans, my bad. A proper sentence for Lindsay Lohan would be to prohibit paparazzi and filmmakers alike from taking her picture, and prohibit TV, cable channels, and movie houses from showing her movies for the next 10 years!
---
I hope the judge gets pictures of the middle finger messages Lindsay Lohan flashed in court. and hope the judge 'fingers' her back with the sentence.
---
One thing about voting in a DIM/DUMBorat primary is that you get wonderful e-mails/news letters from elected DIM/DUMBorats who tell you things that the L-E doesn't report. Hank Johnson's PR e-mails/letters make me wonder whether his replacing Cynthia McKinney was an improvement.
---
Example from above: "I know times are still tough. That’s why I’m holding my third job fair in 14 months – because my staff and I will not rest until everyone who needs a job has one. I’ve voted consistently to protect workers and their families during my time in Congress, not the insurance companies, Big Oil or the fat cats on Wall Street." -- Please note Congressman Johnson does not say he will not rest until everyone who WANTS a job has one, nor does he say he's interested in making sure businesses can operate successfully so the jobs will be there next year.
---
Even more revealing: I'm on Johnson's e-mailing list because I sent him a donation to help unseat Cynthia McKinney 2 years ago; this year, I'm sending a donation to Vernon Jones to help unseat Hank Johnson.

It's vital that the information concerning the Parks & Recreation audit be exposed, digested, and addressed, but what could be even more vital could be the personal foundations P&R personnel founded to write 'grants' for money to pour into the P&R programs. How much money was raised/received, and who got it, and why/how did Council not know about it?
---
From a 'letter to the editor' : "Parks and Recreation Director Tony Adams committed no policy violations and broke no criminal laws." -- Oh, Brother Love, Tony Adams is speaking to you but not Council? Oh, Brother Love, you know the gospel, and 'we' can't get the Book to learn for ourselves?
---
From same letter above: "The taxpayers have the right to know what both are doing, and that whatever has been decided or agreed upon is being done in accordance with the law." -- Yes, Brother Love, Council and the taxpayers deserve to know what has gone on in the P&R Dept, AND the City Manager's office. What did Isaiah know, when did he know, and what did he do to correct it when he knew it was going on?
