From a L-E story: "Why should politicians 'be entitled' to ANY ticket preferences, much less "free" ones? In fact, politicians should pay full face value, and go through the same buying process as the general public to get choice seats. Politicians are constantly trying to figure out as many ways as they can to take money out of our pockets so why should they be able to take away the publics' opportunity to get a good seat at a concert?

Online headline: "Obama: 'Noose Is Tightening' Around Libya's Gaddafi" -- We have to wonder when Edward DuBose and Mimi Woodson will be out on the Court House steps declaring Emperor O'Bozo 'a racist'!
---
Online headline: "Food Stamps For Fast Food? Yum, Say Restaurants" -- Hmmm... obviously the fast food restaurants haven't comprehended what this will mean.. it will mean their menu will be replaced with the "My Plate", and offer the same fare the children eat at school (or worse.

California has banned youth under 14 from tanning booths, and while those under 18 have to have their parents permission to do so, yet the US Supreme Court says children can buy violent and sexually exploitive computer games.
---
L-E headline: "POLICE INVOLVED IN CIVIC CENTER INVESTIGATION
Mayor says it’s not a ‘criminal investigation’ after audit raises questions about ex-director’s actions" -- Excuse me.... Is Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson saying she's pulled police off the streets, off other investigations, to investigate something that's not a criminal activity? Talk about a 'wag the dog' situation.
---
L-E story: "NAGOYA, Japan — Tiger Woods has signed a three-year deal to promote a Japanese pain reliever ( “Vantelin Kowa,” a heat rub used to relieve muscle and joint pain.), his first endorsement since he was caught in a sex scandal toward the end of 2009. " -- Guess he's trying to compensate for 'rubbing' fans the wrong way, and his follow up endorsement will be for KY Yours & Mine.
---
L-E headline story: "Learn to skate, play hockey at new rink * If you go: The rink is closed today through July 4" -- The timing of the story is bad enough, but why would 'the rink' close on one of the biggest family holiday weekends we have? The thought of a 65 degree environment on a hot weekend would be a great attraction.
---
A few days ago, one of Fox News blondes was reporting on the Casey Anthony trial. .She was talking about one of the trunk stains being mentioned as "H2O". She stammered at describing "H2O" then suddenly blurted out that "H2O" is ....'air'. Doh...I say "airhead".

Emperor O'Bozo says the Republicans 'need to do their job'. Huh? When the Emperor had a super majority of DUMB&DUMBERats in Congress, he wouldn't even speak to Republicans who were (and are) doing their job of representing their districts, and O'Bozo couldn't get the D&D's to do his bidding.
---
How can Emperor O'Bozo criticize private/corporate jet owners, when he has the most desired 'private' jet to do whatever he pleases at taxpayer expense?

Online headline/story: "23 Countries Identified As 'Not Doing Enough' To Combat Slavery * According to a report by ABC News' Kirit Radia, the State Department's newly-released annual Trafficking in Persons report faults 23 countries for "not doing enough" to fight modern slavery. This is almost double last year's total of 13 countries, and could lead to sanctions from the U.S. * “One of the innovations when I became Secretary was we were going to also analyze and rank ourselves," (Hilary) Clinton said. "I don’t think it’s fair for us to rank others if we don’t look hard at who we are and what we’re doing.”" -- Yeah, but it looks like Hilary has only looked at the 'physical acts' of slavery; the DUMD&DUMBERats have enslaved more people 'mentally' in this country by nannyism programs that leave too many people impoverished and hopeless to do something about it for themselves.
---
From a diatribe of Jesse Jackson: "There is nothing about an economic crisis that should allow a states' rights ideology to suspend democracy by stripping an elected mayor and city council of authority and then empowering an unaccountable and unelected czar to nullify worker contracts and sell off assets. * In Michigan, a state devastated by misguided corporate trade policies that undermined U.S. manufacturing, Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has made himself the tribune of a corporate shuttering of the democracy. Snyder passed a law -- Emergency Financial Manager Law Public Act 4 -- that added extensive powers for state-appointed emergency financial managers to rule over communities or school districts in financial distress. * . And it is not surprising that these emergency financial managers are being foisted disproportionately on cities and school districts with the poorest people and the highest numbers of minorities." -- Wow! Jesse Jackson finally admitting the state of incompetent leadership in D&D majority inner city areas. One only has to look at Atlanta and Birmingham and Washington, DC to know how deep the problem is.
---
Follow up thought: How can the IRS issue and support a 501 (c) 3 designation to an entity that's as openly political as MediaMatters.com? IRS threatens churches that they will lose their exemption if they are politically active from the pulpit (unless Jesse Jackson or Jeremiah Wright happen to occupy the pulpity).

While he's not really worth attention, Blagojevich acts stunned by the jury verdicts, it is onlybecause the price of rigging a jury in Illinois has gone up wher he couldn't afford the price.

Saw local celebrity lawyers who happen to be involved in the local tabloid case of prominent local siblings having lunch together (cha-ching on both sibs billing statements). Could only wonder if they were discussing which of them would get the use of the UGA football tickets for which games this season.
---
Online headline: "John Allen, General Named To Head U.S. Afghanistan Force, Endorses Obama's Drawdown Plan " -- Doh! Did anyone think the Emperor O'Bozo would appoint a general who didn't agree with him?
---
From L-E story: "Among the first steps will be adopting an ordinance requiring prior approval for any city worker’s opening a bank account using Columbus’ tax-exempt ID number, she (Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson) said. Councilors have a draft of the law and now are discussing whether such accounts can be established with the permission of the city manager and finance director, or whether council should be the final authority." -- Huh? How can such authority even be considered to be given to the City Manager? Hugley has been involved as eithe a Deputy City Mamager or City Manager for the whole 8 year crime spree, and still says (ala Sgt Schultz), "I don't know nuthing".
---
Oh, BTW, I happen to agree with Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson on the issue that Hugley has one foot in the fire and the other in the frying pan (wonder if he bought the frying pan in China). He should be fired if he knew anything about what was going on, or he should resign (or be fired) if he can stand there and convince Council he was so incomptent that he didn't know what was going on
---
L-E headline: "Civic Center audit reveals former director exceeded use of complimentary tickets, approved his own pay" -- I can see tomorrow's headline..."City Manager says (I don't know nuthing".
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — A federal appeals panel handed Georgia a victory Tuesday by finding metro Atlanta can legally tap a reservoir that provides water to roughly 3 million of its residents and tossed aside a lower court order that would have severely restricted access to that water starting next summer." -- Now we just need a federal appeals panel to make Atlanta to fix its sewer system/waste dispersion before it take any more water out of the Chattahoochee.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — Six young illegal immigrants were arrested Tuesday after they sat down and blocked traffic near the Georgia state Capitol to publicly declare their status and to protest state policies targeting illegal immigrants, the latest in a string of such “coming out” events in Georgia and other parts of the country. * “It’s time to stand up and let the world know that we need to fight for what we believe in,” said Nataly Ibarra , a 16-year-old high school student. " -- As opposed to American citizens standing up for what we believe in... like our Constitution?
---
L-E headline: "Birmingham condemns new immigration law" -- Wow! Now a city that has shown itself to be fiscally bankrupt now declares it's morally bankrupt as well.

What are we going to do with our US Supreme Court? While it had the common sense to dismiss a suit filed on behalf of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq who wanted to sue defense contractors over claims of abuse, it also ruled that minor children have rights to purchase violent and sexually exploitive computer games. I do not disagree that 'computer games" are protected as free speech, but I do question the Court giving children 'rights' that aren't generally attained until children reach the age of majority.

This past weekend, Emperor O'Bozo spoke of the disappointment that the 'shovel ready' projects he invisioned were not really 'shovel ready' What he didn't think about was that the last time a union member picked up a shovel was to bury Jimmy Hoffa.

If the DUMB&DUMBERats are allowed to raise taxes 'to create jobs', we have to remember that the jobs would be more government jobs which will take more future tax raises to fund them in the future. Republicans, well the only Republicans worth electing/re-electing, want to cut spending which will not only cut government jobs, and reduce the tax burden, but will grow jobs in the private sector. What is the question?
---
Of all TV channels, why is Fox News so concerned about the Casey Anthony trial. I wish Fox would just report the results ' fair and balanced ".
---
With the depth of such open deceit, and the length of time this prevailed before "the audit", two things are quite evident...Mimi Woodson owes the rest of Council, and all the citizens of Columbus a huge apology (and a resignation) for her claim that the investigation was 'a public lynching', and Isaiah Hugley needs to resign or be fired. How could Hugley be not know what was going on, and if he maintains that posture, then he should be fired simply for not being in touch with his surroundings to know it.
---
If running the hatchet job on the Lumpkin family wasn't 'proof enough' that the L-E has become a tabloid, then the L-E running a full page ad for 'citraBURN' (The Magic Diet Pill You've Been Waiting For Is Finally Here) is the nail in the coffin.

L-E headline: "Pope wants youth to learn to swim" -- Oops, my bad... thought the Pope was finally recognizing the Baptists have it right.

Online headline: "TSA Pats Down Cancer-Stricken 95-Year-Old Woman, Removes Adult Diaper" -- When will "enough be enough"? I, too, want 'safety' if flying, but I want "decency' as well. Not questioning the sneakiness of terrorist or the lengths terrorist will go in the name of "Allah", surely there is a way to avoid such travesties as this and horror stories that children have been subjected. Oh, and guess what... TDSA wants to unionize through the SEIU. Write all your Congresspersons!

Was in an elevator this weekend, and noticed a message attached to the wall. "In case of an emergency, call Mr B_________ at 706-XXX_XXXX or his beeper 706-XXX_XXXX". I still marvel at the convenience of cell phones, but I'm not sure I;ve ever been on an elevator and my cell phone would work.
---
Online story: "The amount the U.S. military spends annually on air conditioning in Iraq and Afghanistan: $20.2 billion. -- And DUMB&DUMBERats are complaining. How about scheduling the next DNC convention to select a candidate in 2012 in Afghanistan and see whether the D&Ds still complain about air-conditioning our soldiers in 125 degree heat...or complain about there being too many 'boots on the ground'.
---
A berm protecting a nuclear plant in Nebraska collapsed over the weekend and the plant grounds have been flooded. Official say that there is no danger since the plant has been shut down since April for re-fueling. Doesn't it reassure you when a government official says 'everything is fine'?

Online headline: "Joe Biden Warns Republicans On Debt Ceiling Talks " -- "Warns Republicans"? The Republicans are already on top of this....warnings should go out to D&D's who have an election in 2012.

A L-E reader suggested that GA Power Co use a plastic/lucite replacement bulb to replace glass ones vandalized on the River Walk to save money. Why would GA Power Co be interested any cost saving practices? GA Power advertises ways to save energy, then uses the fact people are using less energy as justification of asking for a rate increase.
---
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde must write at the L-E. How can one paper print a series of fine investigative followup as being done on the Parks&Rec situation yet run tabloid competing stories like the L-E did on the Lumpkin family?

From the Council/City Manager's Agenda: "Purchases * Full-size sedans: It is requested that council approve the purchase of five 2012 Chevrolet Impalas, via Georgia State Contract from Hardy Chevrolet (Dallas, Ga.) in the amount of $87,005. * The 2012 Chevrolet Impalas will be used by the Columbus Police Department as administrative vehicles. -- Two questions: 1 - Why are 'full size sedans' necessary as vehicles for mainly intown driving? and 2 - Why is the purchase going to a non-Columbus dealer? Should not Columbus dealers (maybe they are but it's not disclosed) be given a shot at meeting any out of town bid?

If Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson wants to cut costs of garbage pick up, let her look into having the recycling trucks pick up such once a month. This 'trash' is generally clean and does not present an odor problem as does rotting food.

---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “The formula for success is simple: practice and concentration then more practice and more concentration.” — Babe Didrikson Zaharias (Born this date 1911-1956). " -- No wonder the principles of the DUMB&DUMBERats are so confusing; the secret of success is hard work and perseverance of the individual!
---
L-E "special" headline/story: "Restoring HOPE * Former Georgia Lottery chairman says video gaming technology could fully fund the scholarship program * By DAVID C. GARRETT III * Only once in its history has the lottery failed to increase its annual revenues over the previous year. Even in that year, “net revenue” — the money made available to fund the programs — was increased year over year. * Currently, however, the lottery, despite its best efforts, could no longer raise the necessary revenues to fully fund the programs. After 17 years of great success, the longest winning streak in the history of American lotteries, the GLC could no longer match the rate of growth in cost of the programs using its traditional mix of lottery games. "-- Once again, politicians prove that revenue is not the problem; irresponsible spending is the problem. The universities and colleges in GA have had runaway growth in salaries and job creation, and the growth of both have exceeded the percentages of increased revenue. Just a look at the expected enrolment increases stated by CSU show the unreal expectations of the academia; do you see a "plan B" for what happens when the new requirements of HOPE diminish the number of students "entitled" for college funding by HOPE? No, CSU, and I'm pretty certain all other GA colleges and universities are doing the same, will gear up for double digit growth in enrolments when the likelihood is that enrolment will drop. To qualify for "full" HOPE in the future, high school students will have to average 3 "A's" and 1 "B" in their core subjects for the 4 years to get the 3.7 GPA (and 1 "C" instead of a "B" can undermind the whole endeavor) . And that's assuming the politicians can get their spending under control.
---
L-E's "Quotable": Tom Brokaw American journalist (1940- ) It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.” -- Revelation! Now I see where the DUMB&DUMBERats get confused. Some liberal erred in transposing Brokaw's citing, and wrote, "It's easy to spend a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference unless we keep spending bucks."

Online story: "Last week the Bank of China published a report entitled “How corrupt officials transfer assets overseas, and a study of monitoring.” The report quoted statistics based on research by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Since 1990, the number of Communist Party and government officials, public security members, judicial cadres, agents of State institutions, and senior management figures of state-owned enterprises fleeing China has reached nearly 18,000. Also missing is about 800 billion yuan (more than $120 billion)." -- Talk about a backhand across the face... China officials seem to have a penchant for 'out sourcing' assets but obviously chose other countries than the US to do so. Maybe because most of the assets they 'out sourced' were US Treasuries?

After look at the "My Plate" suggested by her husbandm I think I want Michelle Obama's "plate". She wants 'french fries' on hers.

Anyone not familiar with the web site, "MediaMatters"? it's a web site largely funded by George Soros and David Brock that primarily exists to harass and bring down conservative radio shows and the Fox News Channel. It's got a 501 (c) 3 status which means its donors can deduct 'gifts' from their taxes. That means that the web site is being funded off the sweat and toil of working people who listen to the networks Soros wants to eleminate. In other words, the federal government is in a sense funding a ist Amendment 'terrorist' organization.
---
In the current budget negotiations in Congress, DUMB&DUMBERats want to include a tax hike along with long term spending cuts. Their reasoniong is that more jobs will be created by raising taxes. Create jobs by raising taxes...maybe more government jobs which will lead to having to raise even more taxes in the future to keep those new government jobs funded. Talk about adding 'injury to insult'!
---
How does Emperor O'Bozo forget the details of presenting a Congressional Medal of Honor? Oh, ask him about his golf game last week, and I'll bet he can recite every stroke and mulligan.
---
I like Lynn Westmoreland, and will vote for him again in 2012, but we received a GIANT mult-color 'post card' from him yesterday boasting of his votes to "cutting spending and shrinking government". Printed in the upper left hand corner are the words: "Public Document - Official Business - This mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense". Congressman..practice what you're preaching. Next time you do this send it on a regular sized post card that does not demand premium postage, and how about paying for it from either your personal or campaign accounts. I was not impressed with your message about cutting government spending when I'm paying for your message.
---
L-E headline/story: "St. Luke students raise funds for cancer research * 22 students, along with teachers Lea Kilpatrick and Sally Hart, set up the stand in front of the main church sanctuary at the corner of 11th Street and Second Avenue in Columbus. Kilpatrick said they raised more than $200 during the sale." -- Sorry I missed it, but what's even more wonderful is the City Licensing Office must have missed it, too. Otherwise, the lemonade stand would probably have been shut down for operating without a license.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “A straight line is the shortest in morals as in mathematics.” — Maria Edgeworth, Anglo-Irish novelist (1767-1849). " -- Hmmm, if the LGBT organization had existed then, it would have demanded Edgeworth fired and sent to sensitivity school.

L-E headline: "President to meet Reid, McConnell on debt limit next week " -- Guess the Emperor and Reid (with an assist from Biden) will try to explain to McConnell that digging an even deeper hole might get them through to China's reserve of US debt.

From the "they have to be tenured" department - Online story: "ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Two aging professors accused of running a sophisticated prostitution website appeared to have one goal: Police say they wanted to create a place where respected men like themselves could go for sex without having to worry about getting caught up in street stings. *

Garcia’s attorney, David Serna, called his client “one of the most respected citizens the state has ever known." -- Only an attorney could consider a 'pimp' one of the state of New Mexico's 'most respected citizens'. Guess it's about the view from the bottom of the barrel.
---
L-E story: "BOSTON — James “Whitey” Bulger’s capture could cause a world of trouble inside the FBI. * The ruthless Boston crime boss who spent 16 years on the lam is said to have boasted that he corrupted six FBI agents and more than 20 police officers. If he decides to talk, some of them could rue the day he was caught." -- So a guy who boasts of corrupting FBI and police officers is now being held under police protection...guess he'll die of 'natural causes' before he gets to testify.
---
From L-E story: "WASHINGTON — As Osama bin Laden watched his terrorist organization get picked apart, he lamented in his final writings that al-Qaida was suffering from a marketing problem." -- Oh, being known as a terrorist is simply the result of bad marketing. Even DUMB&DUMBERats couldn't write a resume to fix Osama's image.

L-E headline: "GEORGIA EXECUTIONS * Medical experts split over state’s first execution with new drug * Roy Blankenship jerked his head during procedure" -- Make that
"The late Roy Blankenship jerked his head during procedure"! I wouldn't be upset if his whole body had experienced a gut[wrenching seizure as long as justice was dispensed. In fact, if a death row criminal's attorney objects to the use of the drug, let the attorney test it first before complaining.

Online headline: "Undocumented Immigrants Protest Immigration Crackdowns" -- Right here in Atlanta, GA. Does this not dot the "i" and cross the "t" in Emperor O'Bozo's dereliction of protecting our borders and enforcing our Constitution?
---
Online story: "SAN FRANCISCO -- A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Jewish and Muslim families in an effort to block a San Francisco ballot measure that would ban the circumcision of male children." -- Wow! Who'da thunk Muslims and Jews had anything in common?

From the "piling on" department: "Online headline: "Colorado To End Medicaid Coverage Of Circumcision" -- Whoa! That would definitely be religious persecution for a Jewish family below the poverty line!
---
Follow up: Thanks for all your prayers for my l'il brother. Went to the Dr on Tuesday, and learned there was no sign of cancer cells in his lymph nodes. He called me early Wednesday AM to tell me he had his first BM since the surgery. I'm not sure which event made him happiest.

Online headline/story: Timberwolves' Rambis to be fired after draft * Rambis’ future has been unknown for months, with Kahn repeatedly saying he wanted to take his time in deciding whether or not to retain Rambis, who has gone 32-132 in two seasons. " -- You have to be kidding! Why he wasn't gone after last year..unless, of course, his record was 32-0 last year and 0-132 this year.
---
From the "another way government wastes our money" department - Online story: "The researchers found that since the late 19th century – as the world became industrialized – sea level has risen more than 2 millimeters per year, on average. That's a bit less than one-tenth of an inch, but it adds up over time." -- Looks like getting conned into buying Arizona and Nevada or Southwest Georgia border acreage may not have been such a bad deal after all. In a century or two, it could coast line property.
---
The only salaries that seem to be on the rise are corporate CEOs and government workers...what's the correlation? Like wise, the only gain in non-part-time jobs has been in government. Government is sure fast on the trigger complaining about tax revenue drops, but rather slow in adapting to the realities of such.

Yesterday, I received two different robo calls on my business cell phone from the same person using two different names (once he was "Dave" then he was "John" but the voice was unmistakably the same) trying to offer "guaranteed" life insurance. The next time he calls, I will stay on the line until a person comes on, and then I will give him a few new names of my own! Do the same, and try to get his phone number and turn it into the BBB and the DoNotCall.gov website.

Algore is at it again....believing he is Dog ( hey, it's obvious that Algore has a monumental case of dyslexia) again, that is. Now he's increasing his concept that the world is overpopulated, and that women must take control of when, where, and how many children they should have ("fertility management"). Excuse me.... God has the power to bring conception to women through immaculate conception, and gift babies to the previously infertile in spite of us trying to manipulate our lives to suit our, versus God's, plan for us. I know God, and you. Algore, are not God.
---
Online story: "BOSTON, MA (WCVB/CNN) - Boston's mayor wants Nike to remove controversial T-shirts from the city's store fronts because he believes the slogans on the shirts promote drug use. * For decades, Nike's Just Do It slogan has inspired athletes, but a new campaign featuring different phrases, out on display at Nike Town on Newbury, is riling some shoppers and the mayor. * "The fine line between edgy and stupid. They put their sneakers on and ran right over that," Mayor Thomas Menino said. * One shirt says "dope" with what appears to be a red pill bottle. Another says "get high." -- Wow, a D&D politico doing the right thing for the right reasons! Incredible! Hope we all take a measure and let our local Nike retailers hear our objections in words and at the cash register.

Online headline:Al Gore Blasts Obama On Climate Change For Failing To Take 'Bold Action' " -- Heh heh heh! Algore has finally re-emerged! What he hasn't noticed is since he's been out of the public light licking his marital wounds instead of flapping his lips, global warming has stopped, so in effect, Emperor O'Bozo has done something about climate change. Go away, again, Algore! You're winning!

One aspect of the MCSD's summer feeding program not being addressed, or does it desire to discuss, is the long term damage this program is doing to the future of the children and their future families.
Damage, you say?
Yes. The MCSD's feeding program is exposing children to go to school instead of the kitchen to get their food. They are learning that their parents are not forced (or encouraged) to be responsible for providing food items; therefore the parents can/will spend the money on other than food items lessening the chance that there will be food in the kitchen when schools are not open to feed them. This is a formula guaranteed to keep and grow the vicious cycle of government intervention into families private lives.
Of course, the defense the MCSD (et al) will turn to is, "It's for the children." Peering into the crystal ball of the future growth of government nannyism, all I can say is, "Is it?". What value is any educational program that does not teach children to be independent?
---
I guess the fact that reading scores of the MCSD CRCT testing is the best category means that once the students learn how to read, they find out their other subject books are not worth reading.
---
Overall, the freeze has been good for Columbus, as it keeps Council at bay from running even further amok with unneeded spending. I do agree that there should be a 'minimum' fee for city services, but at the same time, there should be a maximum property tax for residences. Many homeowners (not me, BTW) have a property tax liability exceeding $10,000.00 and most of theses houses are not in areas that can get good fire and police response/coverage.
---
Oh! Ran into a woman at the grocery store who stopped me to tell me she appreciated and supported my view in the Letters to the Editor concerning the L-E story on the Lumpkins.... then she added that she worked at the L-E. There is "HOPE" for "CHANGE"!

L-E headline: "Investigators probe cover-up claim in Atlanta schools cheating scandal" -- Speaking of CRCT cover-ups, what ever happened to the former (and celebrated) principal at Rigdon Road School?

The children terrorists who just got arrested for producing child pornography should be neutered before their trial. A couple of methods I like to see used would be either for them to be slowly lowered into a vat of acid or a wood chipper.

When I saw the headline that a "jackass" star had been killed in a car wreck, I figured it could be almost any of the Hollywood crowd..Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin, and Lindsay Lohan came to mind first.

From an online story reporting the Texas execution of a criminal: " A last-ditch petition by Mathis's attorneys requesting a stay of execution and a review of his case was rejected without comment by the Supreme Court late Tuesday afternoon. * Mathis was pronounced dead at 6:53 p.m. * "The system has failed me," he said in a final statement, according to prison officials." -- "The system failed me"? What system is he talking about? The system criminals and their attorneys 'work' to keep criminals in jail for life, and attorneys on public welfare, or the system that listens to the facts of a crime and determines the future of a criminal?
---
Online headline: "McCain Chides House Republicans For Threats To Libya Funding " -- No wonder there's now a T.E.A. Party! McCain would have been tsunami victim if it weren't for Sarah Palin on the ticket, and now demonstrates again why we are better off with Emperor O'Bozo rather than McCain as the president during this time frame. If McCain had been elected, nothing would be any better, and there would not be a grassroots movement to retake America.
---
The newspapers angle on the Lumpkin family squabble is beginning to take on the tactics the L-E used to discredit Judge Haywood Turner. Who does the L-E want to beat Judge Lumpkin in the next election?
---
Looks like Richard Hyatt has finally found his proverbial "acorn". I'm not always privy to the inner workings of what goes on in City government until the newspaper digs something up (unfortunately, we have to depend on the L-E), but how has the practice of freebie tickets going to the Civic Center manager and Council members passed scrutiny for this long? I understand when a promoter offers such to a privately owned radio station in barter for exposure, but for people paid by the city to receive free tickets in exchange for favorable treatment has to be considered bribery.
---
From L-E story: "“All of the fee structures concern me greatly, but specifically the athletic team fees,” (Councilor) Allen said, pointing to a new $100-per-team fee on youth baseball, basketball and soccer teams. “I think this is over-reaching and would be more punitive to the leagues than it was intended.” -- How can basically $10.00 (or less) per player for using taxpayer provided facilities for a season of 3-to-4 months (or longer) be deemed as "over reaching". Leagues should look at other expense centers such as costs for paying refs/umps instead of parents volunteering to learn about such and participate as volunteers as a comparison. As for rentals of other facilities, specific users should pay for the cost of using and maintaining such so those facilities will pay for their own rather than being a drain on every taxpayer. If the city doesn't address this properly, the city will find itself in the same situation as the MCSD..paying 85% of revenues in salaries and benefits so there is not enough revenue coming in to maintain the properties and buildings the city provides for citizen use. Just look at the Bull Creek/Oxford Meadows situation... why should non-users be saddled with paying for others to use those facilities?
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — A Fulton County judge on Tuesday temporarily halted an inmate’s execution to consider a challenge to Georgia’s recent switch to a different legal injection drug, which defense attorneys argue is unreliable, untested and unsafe. " So what if the criminal's attorney thinks this! How about testing it on the attorney first! Of course, I'd as soon we go back to using bullets; after all, we already know that they work.

Online headline: "Obama to Announce Major Decision" -- Of course, there are more questions that instantly pop to mind - Like why didn't he just make the announcement versus announcing he's gonna make one, and is what he's announcing actually going to be good for this country.
---
Online headline: "Progressive Democrat Expected To Announce Retirement Next Week" -- Well, we do have to admit that Rep Lynn Woolsey, D&D CA, is doing something we think is progress for America for a change.
---
L-E headline: "Airport police chief accused of breaking into car at Carmike 15" -- Hmmm bet this explain some things that happen in the long term parking area at the airport.
---
From L-E story: "The county is also losing many young professionals and middle-income families to outlying areas where new homebuyers aren’t expected to carry a disproportionate tax burden, Tomlinson said. * “Those are your folks who are in their prime spending years, and you want them to be part of your community,” Tomlinson said. “If you’re pushing them into the surrounding counties, you’ve got yourself a problem.”-- Whatta a mixed message of garbage...maybe we should limit Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson to having her garbage picked up by the L-E to once a week. It's not the 'freeze' that encourages people to move to outlying counties/states, it's the existing high taxes on what people are buying that causes the migration. Besides, the LOSTs and SPLOSTS are suppose to let 'these people' contribute to the community.
---
My own opinion about removing the 'freeze': Council should call a moratorium on overall tax revenues until they reassess all properties properly then base a millage rate that would generate the same revenue level from the new assessments. That would reduce the tax costs for newer/recently bought homes, and increase taxes on homes bought long ago to a higher but not excessive level. It would eliminate the major 'windfall' gain Mayor Obamalinson salivates over.
---
L-E story: "An 11- and 13-year-old face charges of robbery and battery in a Saturday night beating that left a preteen injured, Columbus police said. * According to reports, the suspects were inside Carmike Cinemas on Manchester Expressway around 11:30 p.m. when they approached a 12-year-old and hit him in his face." -- Children, it's 11:30 PM, do you know where your parents are?
---
You know, the big basic difference between an appointed versus elected School Board is that one was the "Community Watchdog", and the other is looking at getting re-elected.
---
Van Jones.... appointed by Emperor O'Bozo, but resigned under the light of truth, now says the Emperor is part of the Right. Huh? If Emperor O'Bozo is considered to the Right of Van Jones, then Van Jones has established a new extreme for being Leftist.
---
Speaking of Van Jones, he's 'considering' filing a law suit against Fox News; for what..telling the truth?
---
From the "just my feelings" department - It's really a shame that the MCSD (and most others, I'm pretty sure) award salary increases for advanced degrees of the teachers rather than on whether the students are advancing at an accelerated pace. Seems there's no justification that advanced degrees for teachers translates into better education for the students.

Online headline: 'NBC Apologizes For Omitting 'Under God' From Pledge Of Allegiance" -- An apology is not enough. You know this was as intentional as it gets by the fact that NBC was standing on ready to issue its apology. I saw it as obviously a tsunami of of others who must have clogged the NBC phone and internet complaints.
---
L-E's " Thought for Today": “The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change amid order.” — Alfred North Whitehead, English philosopher and mathematician (1861-1947). -- Would love to hear Emperor O'Bozo explain how he interprets this.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — As President Barack Obama nears a decision on an Afghanistan troop withdrawal, his retiring defense secretary says he doesn’t believe the Taliban will engage in serious talks about ending their fight until they are under extreme military pressure. " -- Oh, and telling the Taliban when we are leaving is 'pressure' to make it want to seriously talk about ending the fight? O'Bozo's military expertise is no better than his economic plan...unless he's intentionally trying to lose on both fronts.
---
The more you think about it, the more you have to wonder, not only why, but what was the motive for the hatchet job on the Lumpkin family in Sunday's edition. No doubt the story was sad, even tragic (or even possibly stupid), but it was still a private issue, and not worthy of such character assassination as was the L-E's only plausible reasoning to run such. Have home subscriptions diminished to the point that the L-E is trying to get a position on the racks at the check out counters of local grocery stores?
---
L-E headline: "3 arrested in prostitution deal, robbery gone bad" -- What's Mr Hernandez-Silva's gripe? He asked for a "sexual act" and he got screwed.
---
L-E headline: "Georgia cracks down on teacher certification " -- About time! In fact, Georgia legislators should examine the blanket approach to 'rewarding' all advanced degree 'bumps' in salaries, because not all positions are necessarily better off with someone with an advanced degree. For an analogy, how would an MBA benefit clients at a routine tax preparation service any more than a preparer with a degree in bookkeeping or a CPA degree? In a few cases, there could be a user gain, but the vast majority of users would not benefit.

Rory, Rory, Rory! What a thrilling way to shake up the US Open record books!

From another BCer..I tried to laugh, but tears came instead:

Passed on by a fellow BCer:

Entitlement my foot!... I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money , doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout !! Congressional benefits , aka. free healthcare , outrageous retirement packages , 67 paid holidays , three weeks paid vacation , unlimited paid sick days , now that's welfare , and they have the nerve to call my retirement "entitlements" !!!!!!.....
---
I really don't understand Carmike's approach to marketing. Showing the same movies at both main complexes that serve the same primary market, plus showing the same movie 5 different ways ( Big D at one as well as duplicating 2D & 3D in both complexes) makes the cost of reaching it's interested market 5 times the cost of showing the movie 1 way at i complex.

From the "didja ever notice' department - Smoke alarm batteries seemingly only signal that they are 'weak' in the middle of the night? BTW, Walgreen's has 9V Duracell alkaline batteries on sale, even at 2:30 AM.
---
Online headline: "NATO Hits Rebel Forces In Libya" -- Who could tell?
---
You have to wonder where illegal aliens from Mexico are crossing the birder since most of Arizona is lit up with fire.
---
The "Golf Summit" - Emperor O'Bozo teamed with Congressman Boehner to win $2.00 from VEEP Biden-Biden and Gov. Kasich. Funny how Emperor O'Bozo can teaam up with Boehner for $2.00, but can't the goal is to save taxpayers $2 TRILLION.
---
I guess the Emperor O'Bozo brought VEEP Biden-Biden along to cuss for him when he missed a putt to far to the left.
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON — U.S. officials say Pakistan has apparently tipped off militants at two more bomb-building factories in its tribal areas, giving the terror suspects time to flee, after U.S. intelligence shared the locations with the Pakistani government." -- Maybe it's time to let it slip that Karzai is on the list so he will flee the country.
---
The L-E Sunday Edition looked more like something we usually see while checking out at the grocery store..The lead story being run was bad enough, but especially cruel on Father's Day.
---
What a travesty that siblings are fighting over UGA football tickets in settling their parents' wills. Funny thing is, we all know who will get "the tickets"...their lawyers!
---
Have you ever thought about the irony of the last LOST that went into effect. It excluded the extra penny sales tax on hotel/motel rooms and automobiles. It's funny because of Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson's direct contact with suing the online travel companies over getting more tax dollars, and if you've bought a new car, you were probably quoted a price which include 7% in sales taxes, and if you agreed to that bottom line price, the contract would shift the extra 1% to the cost of the car and show only 6% in sales taxes making the bottom line the same as the original quote on the worksheet.
---
A "special to the Ledger-Enquirer tries to sell us that black students are disproportionately disciplined. It's not about the number of discipline cases, it's about the disproportionate infractions of school rules by a disproportionate ratio of students. Know what, it's going to get worse since the US Supreme Court ruled that even elementary students need to be read their "Miranda Rights" before a teacher/Principal can question them.

Looks like Roy McIlroy learned his lesson at the Masters...get an even bigger lead going into the final round...

Online headline: "Osama Bin Laden Criminal Charges Dismissed By Federal Judge " -- Bet it wasn't one from the District 9 (California) Court of Appeals!
---
So the Weiners are expecting the 'twitter of little feet'....wonder what they'll call it..."Oscar" or perhaps "Whatta" or maybe "L'il Twit"
---
L-E headline: "Muscogee County School District: Allen Elementary principal pushing for after-school program" -- Why aren't the taxpayers consulted on issues like this. The additional costs don't stop at personnel. Wear and tear on the facilities and increased utility costs will be great, and it will be unfairly competing against private after school childcare businesses.
---
From the 'wrong perspective' department - L-E headline: Some liberals frustrated by pace of Obama’s change" -- The correct headline would be: All Conservatives frustrated by pace of Obama’s change.
---
The Southeastern Amateur needs to regroup. Even with a small field, there's no reason golfers who shoot 160 or higher for the first two rounds to be playing the last two rounds.
---
L-E headline: "32 Texans accused of defrauding Aflac " -- About 21,600 +/- claims were filed over 10 years. That's 2,160 per year, and an average of 67.5 claims per annum per each of the 32. Hard to believe this could go on for 10 years before getting caught. Hope AFLAC nails them!

Here's a nominee (and odd's on favorite) for the truth-in-advertising award for 2011: On a pizza delivery box from Papa John's - "Caution: Contents "may be" hot".

The new jobless claims were 414,000 yesterday, and that was 'better than expected' than the estimated 420,000. How much longer can America sustain Emperor O'Bozo's experts thinking 414,000 new jobless claims is OK whether it is less or more than 'expected'? The White House will probably proclaim this number as an indicator of an improving economy, but 414,000 a week is over 21 MILLION new jobless claims per year!
---
Emperor O'Bozo really keeps redefining, no reinforcing, his naivety and inabilities to lead a nation. Now he's blaming the lack of new job opportunities on ATMs and airport check-in kiosks for eliminating people needed to perform such jobs. I do believe industries such as banks and airways have added such automation to be of service during peak times or off-hours so customers won't have to wait as long for simple transactions that don't need problem solving people to answer specific questions. Besides, weren't and aren't jobs created to create/build/maintain these automated service centers? And what's the Emperor going to blame next..the answering machine on your telephone? Where do DUMB&DUMBERats find these people for government jobs?
---
Casey Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, is single-handedly raising the distrust of lawyers from 99% to 99.9% His unfounded claims are below the lowest expectations one can have for even the sleaziest of lawyers.
---
Online headline: "Obama: Anthony Weiner Will 'Bounce Back" -- Yeah, as in the 'dead cat bounce'.
---
How can ex-Congressman Weiner think jokes about him will ever go away? Every time you hear the Oscar Mayer jingle or see the Oscar Mayer Wiener-mobile, guess whom we're gonna think about first?
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s top general in Afghanistan has given him a range of options for withdrawing American forces as a July deadline for starting the drawdown approaches" -- Looks like one of those options may be a 12 month R & R on the beaches of Libya."
---
L-E ad claim: ""Announcing Free Cell Phone Service for Georgia and Alabama Residents * You may qualify for Assurance Wireless (Virgin Mobile) based on your household income, if you're on Medicaid or participate in other government programs. To verify your eligibility, visit www.assurancewireless.com or call for more information -- How can any program paid for by taxpayers be considered "free" for anyone?
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Thursday against the state of North Carolina in the case of a juvenile who was questioned in a school conference room without being read his Miranda rights. * The Miranda rights exist to prevent police from coercing confessions" -- How can 5 members of the US Supreme Court equate a school official with being a police officer? This precedence will require every school to hire a lawyer present when a principal has to get to the bottom of which second grader threw an eraser at a teacher.
---
L-E headline/story: "Pentagon dreams of Star Trek-style interstellar travel * This isn’t about going to a nearby planet, like Mars. And it’s not about using robotic probes, which doesn’t interest the Defense Department, Neyland said. * But even the nearest star beyond our sun is 25 trillion miles away. The fastest rocket man has built would take more than 4,000 years to get there. " -- 4,000 years to get there? Other than assuming the Pentagon may 'feel' another sun 25 TRILLION miles away (even the Pentagon looks like it has devalued the immensity of what a 'trillion' any thing is) must be cooler than our sun (ONLY 93 million miles away), has the Pentagon even thought about what 4,000 years would mean for the pilot? Shoot, he'd probably have to be 'retired' before he got there. "They" walk among us.......

Why does the census count of our Council Districts add up to only 181,987 people when the 'official' Census says Columbus has 189,000+?
---
Two L-E Police report stories: "Two teens robbed a 19-yearold outside of South Columbus Elementary on Wednesday afternoon, Columbus police said. * A Columbus man is in good condition after police say he was robbed and shot three times inside a Wynnton Road apartment Wednesday afternoon. " -- Why are not victim names published?
---
We don't 'need' to know how GOP hopefuls "feel" about Emperor O'Bozo, we know how we 'feel' about him. What we need and want to know is what the GOP hopefuls think they can offer as an alternative.

Online story: "A Kentucky man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot a 12-year-old boy in the back for ringing his doorbell during a game of Ding Dong Ditch. * (Jason) Eberle's uncle, Bart McMahon, told Kentucky's WLKY "It's outrageous, it's intolerable and that's why we have prisons for people who can't confine their behavior within the bounds of law." -- No excuses for the shooter, BUT the 12 year old 'kid' wasn't 'innocent'; plus why was the uncle and not the parent quoted, and who was responsible for the 12 year old not being home at night? In this age of home invasions etc, "pranks" are just not 'innocent' anymore.
---
Online headline: "Pakistani Forces Arrest CIA Informants Who Led U.S. to Usama Bin Laden" -- Well, now you know why the Pakistani ISI wasn't informed ahead of time.

An Indiana mom is going to sell a letter from Emperor O'Bozo. She HOPEs to get $11,000.00 for it. My bet is she might get pocket CHANGE for it.
---
The City pools will close July 31st because the City schools are scheduled to start August 8th. Both of these actions are "just wrong"! Kids should be swimming, and families should be vacationing during the hottest month of the summer.
---
L-E story: "The cost of the range was split between the sheriff’s and marshal’s offices. The sheriff’s funds came from the 1 cent Local Option Sales Tax passed by Columbus voters in 2008 and the marshal’s contribution came from federal stimulus dollars, Darr said." -- Wait a minute....the Marshal's office 'share' came from stim-YOU-LIE funds? That means it's non-recurring yet the expenses reoccur annually from local dollars.
---
Some questions just naturally need follow up. A couple of interest are: "Has anyone seen Tony Adams doing 'community service' anywhere? Oh, and how much money has the new Parks&Rec Ph.D saved us so far?
---
I'm sure that there was good intent (as in roads are paved with IT when OSHA was first conceptualized, but the tools OSHA wields can be more damaging than infractions OSHA identifies. Fining a business out of business is not winning the war on safety. Perhaps a tactic of making a business shut down while reasonable 'fixes' are made, but making the company fully responsible for the payroll during that time may get better results.
---
"The Most Reverend"... That's a very self righteous claim. "Most" is a superlative that indicates that no one can be 'more', and in this case no one can be more reverend which makes it self aggrandizing in accepting such a titular reference.
---
L-E headline: "Fort Benning Capt. Aaron Griffin supports Army's decision to ditch berets for soft caps" -- You'd have thought this would have happened BEFORE "dadt" was over ruled.

From the L-E's "Today in History" feature: "On this date: In 1858, accepting the Illinois Republican Party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate, Abraham Lincoln said the slavery issue had to be resolved, declaring, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” -- Now, 153 years later, can our "House" be more divided between those who are , and those who aren't on 'government dole"? Slavery is slavery when people are burdened with other people's care as well as when people are not able to provide for themselves.
---
L-E headline: "White House defends legality of Libya mission" -- Yeah, and if pressed hard enough by Donald Trump, Emperor O'Bozo will produce a Hawaiian Certificate of Authorization.

If you have teen daughters, you have seen "The Voice". One of the 'stars' Christina Aguilara. I commented how much she looked like Cyndi Lauper. Lauper is 58, and Aguilera is 30 as I found out reading a magazine cover while checking out of a grocery store. Aguilera should be the picture in Webster's Dictionary of Phrases for "she's been rode hard and put up wet".

How can Emperor O'Bozo and his Tsars deny runaway inflation? I've been taking a BP medicine for about 6 years. For the first 4 years, the medicine went from $57.00 to $63.00, but in the last 2 years, a months supply has escalated to $106.00.
---
What for does Congressman Weiner need with a leave of absence? He's already demonstrated an absence of mind, an absence of good choices, and an absence of common sense. We just need his absence; his complete absence.
---
From a fellow BCer: "Eric Holder is gonna be Weiner's running mate for president, And the bumper sticker's will read "Weiner-Holder".
---
Online headline: "CNN GOP Debate Delivers Big TV Ratings" -- Can't you imagine Larry King slapping himself on his forehead and saying, "I could have had a De-Bate"?
---
L-E headline: "Garbage top topic at first public hearing" -- And what's new? GIGO is a well-known acronym used in computer development...Garbage In Garbage Out. Seems quite fitting for describing the City budget talks. When you think about it, GIGO describes a lot of personnel issues with the City, too.
---
The Mayor's choice for a new Civic Center director may be a pretty good one. After all, anyone who has to get people to come to North Dakota before he can get them to come to a Civic Center ought to find the Columbus Civic Center a piece of cake in comparison.
---
L-E headline: "Obama makes historic visit to Puerto Rico " -- Historic visit? Is that how he describes taxpayer funded vacations?
---
From L-E story: "“I intend to announce my candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America a week from today,” (Former Utah Gov. Jon) Huntsman said Tuesday during a discussion about China policy in New York with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. " -- Huh? Doesn't this statement count as his announcement?
---
L-E story: "ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska officials are investigating an apparent gap in last week’s release of former Gov. Sarah Palin’s emails. * However, there are very few emails from her first month in office, as first reported by the Anchorage Daily News" -- Could it be as simple as SHE WAS BUSY her first month in office?
---
While CSU crows about its economic impact to the community, CSU doesn't talk about its economic drain caused by removing properties it buys/owns from the local tax digest. Why should institutional properties be exempt from paying at least a reasonable fee for having police and fire services on call? From a dollars and cents standpoint, how much more would CSU's building insurance be if CSU was not eligible for fire protection from Columbus' Fire Department? The same goes for other tax exempt facilities of non-profit organizations.
---
L-E headline: "Richt favors eliminating kickoffs " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Richt was against being kicked-out.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

From the 'who'da thunk it' department - N.O.W. has expressed sympathy for Weiner, and is standing up for Weiner in the House.
---
Online headline: "Obama: If I Were Weiner I'd Resign" -- OK, you are a weiner, so resign!
---
Wonder if the DUMB&DUMBERat Nationalizer Committee is going to hire Milton McGregor as their spokesperson for 2012 candidate recruiting drive. I can hear him now, "yes, you, too, can be a Weiner."
---
Can you imagine the conflict at a Gay Pride event as to whether to kick Weiner-types out of Congress?
---
Weiner has shown the world his manhood; now, can Weiner show the world he can man-up?
---
I don't know why we're holding our breath about a DUMD&DUMBERat resigning from Congress because of a morals issue...we've waited for Frank, Dodd, Kerry, Kennedy, Murtha, Studds, Jenrette, Hastings, Rangel, Edwards, President Clinton, any of Emperor O'Bozo's Tsars, and many others in the past, and all we've accomplished is to find an even deeper shade of blue to turn.

Online story: "Joe and Jill Biden Toast 'Race for the Cure' with Backyard Barbecue" -- Huh? Doesn't grilling/barbecuing meat on the barbie create a carcinogen as well contribute to global warming?
---
Online story: "MOSCOW — As the world awaits Moammar Gadhafi's next move, the Libyan leader has been playing chess with the visiting Russian head of the World Chess Federation." -- Guess he was Czech-mated.
---
L-E headline: "Georgia Supreme Court reverses Muscogee County life without parole sentence of Jesse James Johnson for ineffective counsel" -- Here's that "ineffective advice of counsel" raising its ugly head again! How come its limited to public defender cases that are paid for by the same tax fund that will pay another public defender to defend him again. It's a revolving payroll source for attorneys , and this is not right. Besides, in this case as presented by the L-E, it looks like more of a case of bad choices by the defendant; first in doing the crimes, and secondly, for not accepting the first offer by the DA's office. Why are we being punished for the greed of a criminal!
---
Tell you what, while Tim Pawlenty may look like milk-toast, and I hadn't been overly impressed prior to Sunday; he handled a tough barrage of questions (with video back ups) thrown at him by Chris Wallace with a calmness that puts Pawlenty in the ball game.
---
Don't feel grateful that the MCSD didn't raise the millage rate this year. The MCSDactually gets more millage than any other school district in the state because years ago, the GA Legislature passed a law to enable the MCSD to use up to 5 more mils than other systems BECAUSE the Columbus Museum was under the MCSD's responsibility. Of course the Columbus Museum is more than able to keep itself self-sustaining, so the extra mils go into the school budget.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “Hope is a pleasant acquaintance, but an unsafe friend.” — Thomas Chandler Haliburton, Canadian jurist and humorist (1796-1865). -- What a visionary! Haliburton summed up Emperor O'Bozo nearly a 100 years before O'Bozo was born.
---
Watched a little of the GOP debate last night (that alone should be a ratings boost for CNN), but just enough to wonder why any of the candidates would want to answer questions posed by anyone affiliated with CNN. Bachmann was out of her league.
---
About the best thing Council can do is to issue guidelines spelling out the limits of the Marshal's office duties, and stick to it. No pursuit vehicles, no traffic duties, no investigative duties.
---
As to curtailing budget expenses in the Public Safety arena, Council should revisit the 'take home vehicle' policy. The first place to start would be employees who do not live in Muscogee County. Before the LOST bonuses, letting Public Safety officers drive vehicles home was sort of a salary boost, but now that annual bonuses are given, it's more of a perk that eats away at the budget dollars.

For your information:
Old Navy is now selling "gay pride" T-shirts in support of President Obama's proclamation designating June as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month."

Old Navy's rainbow T-shirts are part of its "Love Proudly: Pride 2011" campaign. The shirts reportedly went on sale June 1 and will be available at select stores throughout the country. Old Navy is donating 10 percent of the proceeds to the "It Gets Better Project," a pro-LGBT campaign.

Have you noticed that every day is a 'sales day' at Jos. A Bank? Perhaps Bank could get people in to buy something if it offered an ad saying our everyday prices are good values. I stopped shopping there because I keep waiting for the prices to be even lower and I never will know when that will be.

Palm Desert High School in California had a 'paver' fund raiser. Two women bought 'pavers' and chose to have them inscribed with Bible verses. The school objected and would not include those 'pavers' in the planned walkway because they were religious messages. The two women sued and won. The school then scrapped the fund raiser and refunded everyone's money. So, you say? What was revealed was that the school was going to use pavers with a Hindu quote from Gandhi, and a Bible quote in Spanish.

From a fellow BCer's 'pass on' : "Did you know that the ACLU has filed a suit to have all military cross-shaped headstones removed? And another suit to end prayer from the military completely. They're making great progress. The Navy Chaplains can no longer mention Jesus' name in prayer, thanks to the ACLU. -- I have the New Testament issued my Dad in WWII. It is the liberal's nightmare! It has a message from Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the frontispiece "commending the reading of the Bible to all who serve in the armed forces of the United States".

There are two of the trees brought in for the Veterans Parkway streetscapes in a vacant area between 11th & 12th Streets that are still in their root balls that have completely withered and died. The medians are being 'hand watered' by a man following a water truck. Do you know how little water actually gets to the median areas when the waterer is moving constantly? He may as well be watering the median with a kid's old fashioned water gun! He could at least use a "super soaker", but that would take to many 'load, unload, reload' actions.

Government Motors's CEO said he wants the gasoline tax to be raised by a $1.00 per gallon. He thinks it will promote GM's "green" vehicles nobody wants to buy. What kind of company would ask for a tax increase that would hit its customers directly in the wallet? Oh, a government run union shop.

Where's Rahm Emanuel when Emperor O'Bozo needs him? Chaos runs amok from the Mid-East to Wall Street to China, and there's no Rahm Emanuel to take advantage of any of it.

Online headline/story: "Hillary Clinton Warns Africa Of 'New Colonialism' * Clinton said that African leaders must ensure that foreign projects are sustainable and benefit all their citizens, not only elites. A day earlier, she cautioned that China's massive investments and business interests in Africa need to be closely watched so that the African people are not taken advantage of. * "It is easy, and we saw that during colonial times, it is easy to come in, take out natural resources, pay off leaders and leave," Clinton said. "And when you leave, you don't leave much behind for the people who are there. We don't want to see a new colonialism in Africa." -- Wait a minute.. the plan of action she's warning about sounds suspiciously identical to the DUMB&DUMBERat campaign strategy for re-elections! They pay off racial and union leaders and leave the frontliners struggling.

Online headline: "Weiner Seeks Treatment As Top Democrats Call For Resignation" -- Yeah, Weiner needs treatment all right...the silent treatment, the snub treatment, and treated to a predator sexual offender listing.

Here's an idea to make the Chattahoochee safer! Council can install those ubiquitous signal lights like the ones for crossing streets in trafficked parts of the river. Depending on the circumstance, the idiot lights can flash between "Swim/Don't Swim, Wade/Don't Wade, and Fish/Don't Fish". That way, river users don't have to remember what their mothers taught them about river safety.

Take a bow, T Sam! Congrats from all the BCers!

MLB needs to take a stand! I wasn't sure what station I was watching while my bride and I ate at Fudruckers last night, but there was a baseball game on between Milwaukee and St Louis. I recognized the Cardinals by there uniforms, but had to weight for the score to flash on screen to see who they were playing. Since when did the "Brewers" become the "Cerveceros"? I could sorta understand if Milwaukee was on the Mexican versus Canadien border, but if Milwaukee tries to wear those jersies when playing in Arizona, I hope the D-backs bar them from the field.
---
Speaking of Fudpuckers, last night will be the last time I eat there. I was hungry and ordered the 1/2 pound version. When it was served, it looked the size of a Krystal (according to the counterperson it was because it was cooked 'well', but I know it was because of fat content of the meat) except there was about an inch of bun showing completely around the patty. I thought the first rule of burtger production was to make sure the patty hangs out of the bun. I finished the 'hamburger' and I had lots of bread left.

From L-E story on Council redistricting: " Here’s how Columbus does it: A Muscogee grand jury goes through voter rolls and picks four names from each district to submit to council. From those names each district councilor gets to pick one person to serve on a redistricting committee, and so does the mayor. The probate judge serves automatically, so the full committee’s 17 people." -- Hmmm, now if a district borders are changed, and a committee member's residence moves from one district to another, does that invalidate that committee members position on the committee?

Trying to give all parents access to better education opportunities for their children via tax credits or other such accounting gimmickry was destined for the results that have occurred. On the other hand, giving parents 'vouchers' that they can present to any school would work for every level of income.

What's wrong with this picture...only 35 ML Baseball players are batting better than .299. 35 people have batting averages that match or exceed a 3-out-of-10 average for being considered a successful batsman. Something is wrong with paying the kind of salaries the players get.

Online story: "WILMINGTON, Del. – U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, who has been under fire after admitting to sending graphic photos to women online, has acknowledged he had online contact with a 17-year-old girl * A Weiner spokeswoman issued a one-sentence statement Friday night that said, "According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent." * -- Who is this 'man'; no WHAT is this 'man'? One thing for sure is he is not a DECENT 'man'; not even a 'man' at all!
---
Online headline: "More Details Emerge About Upcoming Obama-Boehner Golf Game" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought we were going to hear about how long the "gimme" distance Boehner would have to give Emperor O'Bozo.

Ever wondered how Conservatives could sit back and let Liberals call themselves "Progressives" without a challenge? There is nothing progressive about the liberal agenda.
---
From the 'shoulda known..it's from NY' department - Online story: World Naked Bike Ride
WHAT: A nudie zip around the city to raise awareness for green transportation and the environment.
WHY: The heat already has you wishing you were naked, so you might as well get naked for a cause. (P.S. It’s legal to be topless in NYC in case you're wondering.)" -- Wow! Sounds like a "V-8" ad idea and Anthony Weiner's defense. If women can go topless than Weiner must feel he can go bottomless.
---
Online headline: "Washington Dog Pack Kills 100 Animals, Terrorizes Town " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought nore DUMB&DUMBERats were turning on their own.

Online headline: "A New Way To Curb Global Warming" - Is this a trick? Has Algore reemerged?

Online headline: "Mississippi Flooding May Have Spread Invasive Fish" -- Finally, proof about FEMA!

Online commentary headline: Alec Baldwin: Anthony Weiner Is a Modern Human Being" -- Yeah, like Alec Baldwin, "Mr. My Daughter's a Pig", would know what a modern human being is.
---
L-E headline: " City’s bond rating will slip if reserves fall below 60 days" -- This raises another question since the MCSD is interested in issuing bonds to start work projects (which will not get fully funded from the SPLOST collections) in anticipation of SPLOST funding: Does the MCSD have a "fund balance"? What's the MCSD going to offer as collateral...that the citizens will vote for another SPLOST?
---
Amidst the 'crowing' from CSU about its economic impact, CSU also causes a major economic problem. When they buy new properties, those properties are taken off the tax digest, yet their buildings still require our fire and police department actions, and increased student wear and tear on our roads.
---
It sounds weird that all of a sudden, no one is talking positively about the property and sales taxes being boosted by the completion of BRAC.
---
From L-E story: "Despite what the Georgia Department of Education considers a more rigorous curriculum than that of a few years ago, student scores on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests were up this year. " -- Well, imagine that! Who'da thunk giving a better education in the classroom would make students smarter? We actually pay these people!!! You know what, next "these people" will be exclaiming that the students have more self-esteem!

Online story: "COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The owners of an Ohio restaurant touted last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government's Chrysler bailout said Thursday that tough times are putting them out of business." -- Compared to the rest of the industries struggling under his e-CON-omy disaster, the fact the non-union restaurant has stayed in business until now IS a success in Emperor O'Bozo's mind. Of course, any closing of a non-union business is ALSO a success of Emperor O'Bozo.
---
What is Emperor O'Bozo's voter base gonna do when O'Bozo tells them they will have to get a job because the rest of the taxpayers are out of money?
---
Online headline: "Gennette Cordova: Anthony Weiner Twitter Photo Seemed 'Fake' " -- Heh heh heh... and who first mentioned "Photo Shop"!
---
With the suggestion that one of the most explicit photos Congressman Weiner sent out appeared to be a 'fake' by one of the college girls, maybe this incident needs to be renamed... perhaps "weiner-gate" is more appropriate.
---
Online headline: "Anthony Weiner Wife Pregnant" -- Hmmm, maybe she was 'twittering around, too. Has anyone checked her Twitter contact list?
---
Polls say that Emperor O'Bozo's 'job approval' ratings have dropped to 48%. Don't you wish we new all the 48% (locally, we already know about Brouillette, Taylor, the Mayor, Congressman Bishop, and "Brother Love") so we could know all of America's enemies?
---
Earlier this week, breaking news rushed on "a tip" to tell us there was a 'ranch' in Texas where there were a possible 30 dismembered bodies of adults and children buried. Helicopters swarmed, public safety officials looked like a colony of ants. Wait... it was all because some 'psychic' provided the tip? Thousands of dollars in money much needed for public safety prevention went down the drain on a wild goose chase. Thousands of viewers waited for the 'other shoe' to drop on this 'must be tragic' story. Would the public safety response been as chaotic if there was no media clamoring for by-the-minute details of a non-event? We have way to much media! What I want to know now, and the media is not interested in following up, is whether the 'psychic' has been locked up, and any & all of the "psychic's" assets been confiscated to pay the public tax dollars wasted back?
---
Online headline: "Hillary Clinton In Discussions About Leaving Job For New Role" -- Yeah, one with a future; either that or Emperor O'Bozo has yelled, "Off with her role!".
---
Online story: At a White House conference of personal finance writers event, Emperor O'Bozo got asked, " What advice might he have for a nation of people whose experiences with personal finance lately have not been so wonderful?". His wistful response, " Don't spend all your money." Of course what Emperor O'Bozo meant was let him spend it for you.
---
From L-E story: "The mayor also assured a skeptical citizen about the financing of her trip. *“The German government is paying for all my expenses -- travel, lodging, meals,” she said. * “They are paying as part of a transatlantic effort between U.S. and Germany to share energy and development ideas,” Tomlinson said. “The U.S. will host a German contingent soon.”" -- What naivety! Either that or typical legalese BS. Governbments have no money, and since the US is reciprocating, we taxpayers ARE paying for her trip.
---
For the last 2 weeks or so, a L-E newspaper has been mysteriously appearing in the paper holder under my mailbox. Mind you, that I subscribe to the L-E Online edition, and haven't bought a L-E print edition in years, so I figured this was some sort of neighborhood blitz by the L-E to try to get new subscribers. Yesterday, I received an invoice billing me for such. The L-E has some 'splaining to do.
---
From the L-E's "News Elsewhere" feature: "Business HOUSING MARKET: The Obama administration is blaming the three largest U.S. mortgage lenders for the failures of its foreclosure prevention program. It says they’ve done little to help people at risk of losing their homes" -- Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
---
Ignorant L-E "soundoff" entry: "Those who want more frequent garbage pickup can hire private companies to haul it away, but let the rest of us happily save money " -- Must be someone on the Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson's staff with a last minute "hail mary pass". If the second day pickup is eliminated, you/we are still paying the $168.00 a year imposed on us FOR the second pickup! The Mayor doesn't want to reduce that accordingly, and by increasing the monthly fee by $6.00 a year, her "savings" of $331,000.00 will be met.
---
L-E headline: "Top women Dems avoid Weiner topic" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought the DUMB&DUMBERats had finally decided to eliminate school Sex Ed classes.
---
From above story: "“You’re right, I don’t like” questions about Weiner, Sen. Dianne Feinstein said with a smile" -- Yeah, about the Congressman's or any other.

Iraq, Afghanistan... Emperor O'Bozo's targets for withdrawals. Libya, Yemen, Palestine.. sites where Emperor O'Bozo looks like he will redeploy the troops he's withdrawing.
---
A letter writer described Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson as "preppy, pretty, and perky"..... sounds like how Emperor O'Bozo descibes himself, too. Guess what, those are the job description traits one would look for in a Community Organizer. DOH!
---
A question answered...maybe. A fellow in-the-know BCer responded to my question of how draft pick number 111 can be considered a 2nd or 3rd round choice when there are "only" 30 teams involved:
"MLB draft: when a team loses one or more free agent MLB players to another MLB team, the team is compensated for the loss by receiving "sandwich picks" which are draft picks at the end of a round but before a new round. The better rated the lost free agent the higher the round the "sandwish" pick is entered. THus a person drafted 111th can be a second or third round pick due to the sandwich effect." -- Still must be a 'new math' thingy.
---
From the "Suspicions confirmed" department - Weiner-gate UP-date! Apparently Mrs Weiner-gate may be pregnant, and Mr Weiner-gate said she knew about his online indiscretions before they got married, and they are not going to split over the Twitter-gate scandal. They're both weiners and "Big Twits".
---
Weiner-gate headlines, though good for a few chuckles, pale in comparison to a Lewis Grizzard headline in the Athen's paper that informed UGA fans that Middle Linebacker, Happy Dicks would not be able to play in the upcoming UGS South Carolina game: ""DOGS TO PLAY COCKS WITH DICKS OUT"
---
Online headline/story: "Rahm Emanuel Asked Rod Blagojevich To Appoint Forrest Claypool To His Congressional Seat * "I am happy to appoint your guy," Blagojevich tells Emanuel on the call, according to the transcript submitted by the Blagojevich attorneys. "If I can do it, I'll do it." * "This is between you and I ...," Emanuel tells Blagojevich. "I will not forget this." * Emanuel is not accused of wrongdoing." -- Doh! Reread this "Emanuel is not accused of wrongdoing." Guess Chicago and Illinois have a separate set of laws than the rest of the country.
---
From L-E story: "James Cypert Jr., the teacher convicted in 2007 of having sex with an 18-year-old Columbus High School student, wants to remove restrictions tied to his probation that prohibit him from being around children. * A hearing on that issue was scheduled for Wednesday, though a lack of a prosecutor forced it to be postponed. * Muscogee County Superior Court Judge Bobby Peters said a prosecutor needed to attend the hearing. * Mason said District Attorney Julia Slater couldn’t have her office involved in the case because of a legal conflict." -- "Legal conflict"? The only 'legal conflict' I can see is that Slater is has a degree in the 'legal business' and is "conflicted' about her duty to keep a predator at bay.
---
If Anthony Weiner does run for re-election, voters in the other 49 states should be able to vote in his race. New York sent Rangel back, and who can forget Washington, DC re-electing Marion Berry for Mayor, and how can Massachusetts for giving Barney Frank new life every two years. When scandal ridden Representatives are sent back because their district voters think 'pork' is a good trade-off for integrity, the rest of the country should be able to veto that!

L-E headline: "First lady targets healthy habits for toddlers " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought the 1st Lady was stumping for more processed food in government nannyism food programs.

You know, if liberals really wanted to do something about childhood obesity, they'ed campaign for schools and feeding programs to only be able to serve/allow fresh vegetables, fruits and non-fried meats.

Once again, "Brother Love" demonstrates his racial bias and intolerance. One thing for sure, "Brother Love" is consistently demonstrating he's a walking/talking example of an oxymoron.
---
L-E headline/story: "Columbus man injures hand while trying to escape blaze *

Some $50,000 in damage was done to the home and $10,000 damage to its contents, the chief said. " -- Yeah, but the real damages will be what taxpayers will pay the hospital for the bandages on the hand injury.

What's wrong with this picture?

This is an OPEC meeting and the place markers are in ENGLISH.

Online story: "PARIS (AP) -- Lawyers for Moammar Gaddafi's daughter have filed lawsuits in Paris and Brussels over the alleged assassination in late April of four of the Libyan leader's relatives in NATO bombing raids over Tripoli. * State prosecutors said Tuesday that officials are assessing whether the case can be admitted." -- What wimps! At least officials are looking at whether they laugh about it. Thank God she didn't file a lawsuit in the District 9 Court of Appeals, those California judges would have already issued a cease & desist order, and ordered triple fines for damages!
---
Online headline/story: "Azusa 13 Bust: Latino Gang Charged With Terrorizing City's Black Residents * "We hope that this federal case will signal the end of this racist behavior and will help vindicate all of the victims who have suffered over the years," U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. said" -- Well, it didn't take long to get to California following the above story. Remember all those jokes about being in "LALA Land"? They are true! I guess the US Attorney will tell the Latino Gang members to apologize, and that will be the end of the story.
---
Remember my earlier comments about extensive Twitter users being referred to as "Big Twits"? Anthony Weiner has just proved my point.
---
From an online story: "Weiner doled out at least $75,000 to fellow Democrats in the last election, according to federal election data." -- This is another subject being revisited. Why should a politician be able to donate from his/her campaign account to another politician's campaign? This allows a for an unchallenged candidate to accept donations from a source that has already maxxed out donating to another candidate. In effect, a politician that accepts a donation from another politician can actually receive an illegal amount from the non-politician donor. We have had this situation locally as well. I can still see an ad one politician ran endorsing a friend of his running in another race. This is inherently wrong!
---
Online headline: "Minimum Wage Increase Would Help Sluggish Economy, Say Experts" -- Don't tell me...these experts are all advisors of Emperor O'Bozo.... All a minimum wage hike would do would make it harder for, no, less likely, an employer to add on an first time or chronically unemployed job seeker. Oops, excuse me...raising the minimum wage would do one other thing... since the minimum wage is tied into the salary negotiations of unions, it would also raise union members' salaries accordingly as well. DUMB&DUMBERats must think no one else sees through this ploy.
---
Online headline: "New Poll Numbers Not Good For President Obama" -- DOH! Emperor O'Bozo's poll numbers will improve when he starts to help America, and not until then.
---
From a L-E story: " (Jennet) Hampton fraudulently billed the Georgia Childcare and Parent Services -- a state agency that subsidizes child care." Ok, pop test time! Within 10%, how many hard working, taxpaying parents knew they were paying taxes to have other parents (and possibly even co-workers) have their children in daycare centers at reduced rates? Here are a couple that have received a minimum of $150,000.00 taxes dollars that were taken out of other parents' budgets that they could have spent on their own families. Doesn't it make your blood boil? Well, it should!
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “Don’t talk about what you have done or what you are going to do.” — Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States (1743-1826). -- If every politician followed this good advice, we could enjoy watching TV and listening to the radio during the last half of every election year.
---
From a letter in the L-E: " (RE: Mayor Obamalinson) Being preppy, peppy, and perky is not a substitute for knowledge and awareness, nor is it an adequate substitute for a thorough understanding of financial matters." -- How true, how succinct. Unfortunately, she mimics the knowledge of her Presidential idol.
---
I know this is not necessarily a mistake of the L-E as Obits are submitted by the families, but some sort of professionalism should guide the L-E to looking at what they print. There's an obituary for a 43 year old man who is survived by 8 great=great grandchildren according to his obituary. Having been raised under the "Ripley's" umbrella of facts, I do believe even Ripley would question this statement that the L-E probably didn't bother to do so.
---
You know, with no negative thoughts implied about the young man's skills/abilities,since there being only 30 Major League Baseball teams, and I assume a round of drafts would constitute each team having a pick (subject to trades, of course), then how can a player picked # 111 overall be considered a 2nd/3rd (varying L-E "facts") round pick? New math?
---
Haven't commented previously on Richard Hyatt's 'expose' of Peach Little League, but that was minor compared to a 1987 incident when a team manager brought champagne to an after tournament championship celebration to serve to his 9-12 year old players so they would experience the full feeling of winning.

Taking an idea out of the Clinton playbook, Former Senator John Edwards has decided to base his defense on how you define "scumbag lawyer".
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON -- The White House says Austan Goolsbee, a longtime adviser to President Barack Obama, will resign his post as the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers this summer to return to teaching at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business." -- Perfect example of "Those who can, do; those who can't; teach". Didn't Illinois just vote for education overhaul? Now Goolsbee is returning; can Arne Duncan be far behind? T\You know these guys can't let someone get inside the Chicago system and show the world what a mess they've created.
---
Online story: "Anchorage, Alaska - Police have issued a warrant charging 32-year-old Byron Edward Syvinski with assault and robbery. The (7 year old) girl is in critical but stable condition Monday. * Witnesses say Syvinski tried to force the girl off the bike Sunday and punched her when she refused. They say he then knocked her to the ground and punched her repeatedly after she lost consciousness. * Police say he will be arrested after he is released from a hospital, where he had been taken for medical clearance." -- This guy ought to be sentenced to 'life' cleaning the polar bear cage at an Alaskan Zoo while the mama bear is nursing her cubs!
---
Online headline: "Weiner Won't Quit" -- Can't you see his new campaign slogan, "Re-Erect Weiner - He Kept His Promise To Give America The Shaft"
---
Guess the DUMB&DUMBERats' campaign strategy for November 2012 will be a robust game of "Hide the Weiner". Hmmm, nothing has changed.
---
From 'the only in California' department - Online story: "After at least 10 documented suicide attempts spanning several years, Francisco Solomon Sanchez finally succeeded in killing himself last Friday, reports the Pasadena Star-News. * The 41-year old man from Duarte jumped from the 210 Freeway overpass and was hit by at least one car. The LA County Coroner ruled that his death was a suicide. *Sanchez had actually jumped from the same overpass in 2003, and used prosthetic legs as a result of that failed attempt." -- Or maybe he was a CATifornian...regardless, can't you see that it was probably the prosthetic legs (more than likely overpaid for by taxpayers) that enabled him to be successful, so can't you see his family suing California for 'wrongful death'?
---
Hey, Chuck...In 1990, an idea emerged from a mayoral forum held at Peachtree Mall.. tear down Golden Park, build a new Civic Center on that spot so it would command a destination spot that would give impact to developing Broadway and the riverfront south of it into a restaurant/hotel super-center, AND build a new outdoor facility (at the present location of Carl Gregory North) that would be a place for baseball and outdoor music concerts, AND campaign to be a satellite venue for the 1996 Olympic baseball competition. At that time, property was available, and the projected cost of building the new baseball/music complex was between $6-$7 million. (The idea was neither candidates Martin's or Wells' idea). Council and the L-E actually entertained such thoughts, but opted out by deciding it was cheaper to spend $1.8 million on a band-aid fix on Golden Park versus spending $6 or $7 million on a new facility. 3 years later, Olympic softball caused such a fever in Council that Council decided to renovate Golden Park (with all it's warts) at a cost that publicly neared an additional $7 million. That decision left a heritage of a still broken down facility, and killed professional baseball by making the Columbus Catfish play the 1996 season at CSU's baseball field. Pro baseball never recovered, and Charlie Morrow's death sealed the blow.
Looking back, Council's decision to renovate Golden Park versus building a new stadium facility was a costly one. That decision cost Columbus the chance to resurrect Downtown Columbus, and to bring new life to baseball and concerts in a more central area site.

Unbelievable interview between CBS's Bob Schieffer and Nancy Pelosi: "CBS reporter Bob Schieffer decided to ask Nancy Pelosi the tough questions and cornered her on her Congress’s record on the economy. How did she react? Let’s just say you could stamp ‘hypocrite’ on her forehead after this.

“We’re talking in kind of a different way, when unemployment went to 5% under George Bush. What you said then, that Americans are struggling with skyrocketing energy prices, gas was only $3 a gas then, and you say this morning this is January 4th, 2008, this morning’s job report confirms what most Americans already knew. President Bush’s economic policies have failed our country’s middle class. I mean, aren’t Republicans entitled to say, you know, if gas was $3 and unemployment was 5% and the President has failed the American people, don’t they have a right to say that this President has failed the American people?” Schieffer asked (emphasis ours).

Her response?

“Well, if you want to go into the past, we can talk about the past all you want,” she said before adding that Americans are looking to the future. -- What can you people or I add to this ?

Maybe Mayor Obamalinson will let citizens who forget to get their trash out on the one day a week it gets picked up to bring it by her house and leave it on the street for the garbage collectors the following week.

L-E headline: "Columbus crime: 16 men, 2 women arrested in weekend sting operation" -- The CPD could raise more revenue and keep the streets of Columbus safer simply by writing tickets to bicyclists illegally riding on the sidewalks of Broadway.
---
How can San Francisco rally behind Muslim religious rites yet attempt to illegalize Jewish religious rites? Is the banning of circumcision not the ultimate oxymoron of religious tolerance? Oh...we're talking about San Francisco, so this may just be the ultimate perversion...maybe the powers that be just want an excuse to be able to perform 'short arm inspections' of every male child.
---
I'm beginning to 'like' listening to the C-Span Sunday AM program. An 'analyst', Shibley Telhami, Anwar Sadat professor of Peace and Development at the University of Maryland proclaimed that the Israeli territorial divide is an argument between Biblical teachings and UN resolutions. Can you believe these people?
---
Professor Telhami also declared that 'most Americans do not want our government to take sides in this conflict. Wouldn't you like to see the poll data on this claim!
---
Gates' resignation Just before the timelines imposed by Emperor O'Bozo for troop removals is an open, maybe blatant, protest of Emperor O'Bozo's knowledge of military actions.
---
Why is it that DUMB&DUMBERats are so quick to cite Dr. Martin Luther King's words, but so rarely try to follow or live up to them? Wasn't Dr. King's dream that all people be judge by the content of their character, and not their color? Try telling that to the DUMB&DUMBERat pundits when it comes to reconfiguring Congressional districts.
---
From the L-E editorial: "A new law passed in the recent session of the General Assembly provides a mechanism not only for local governments, by popular consent, to opt out of the projects, but also for the tax money collected to be used for the benefit of the taxpayers who provided it. * Under the new law, if voters approve a referendum to cancel a SPLOST project the local government would still collect the sales tax, but the money would be used either to pay down debt or to roll back property taxes. * The law does not apply to education SPLOSTs: Lawmakers were concerned about unintended consequences, including political pressure for canceling projects just to lower property taxes that provide most school funding." -- Ironic... the last MCSD SPLOST with the ambitious, no, the out right lack of reasoning, goal of collecting nearly $45,000,000.00 per year for 5 years when no other 1% revenue stream has brought in more than $36,000,000.00+/- per annum could do the same as the Barrow County SPLOST fiasco, but "we" cannot control the MCSD board's decisions to proceed with projects that have no way to be funded. Why would the GA Legislature give such raw power to any School Board?
---
Today is "D-Day". Hmmm, wouldn't be nice if we remembered June 6, 2011 as "de day of Chitwood's last bungling"?
---
Why wasn't there a "correction" (or at least an apology) from the L-E for mixing marriage and anniversary announcements in with the obituaries in the Sunday edition?
---
Hey, Milton McGregor, you, too, can be a whiner!

Sunday, June 5, 2011

Irony has set in... in 1992, DUMB&DUMBERat Clinton won with a simple campaign spiel, "It's the economy, stupid"; 2012 the campaign slogan sequel, "It's the STUPID economy" will bring down DUMB&DUMBERat O'Bozo.
---
At Chrysler, Emperor O'Bozo likened our economic woes to being 'hit by a truck". I have to sorta agree with him....trucks named the DODDge, the FRANK-furter, the PELOSI-mobile, the Silver-REID-o, the WEINER-wagon, and the O'Bummer.
---
Online story: "San Francisco residents will vote on a measure that would ban circumcision in the November elections - " -- Can we assume that there will be a ban on being Jewish on the same ballot?
---
The argument about whether to go to once-a-week garbage pick-up is not just about once-a-week garbage pick-up. Has Mayor Obamalinson even considered the results of someone forgetting to put out the garbage one week, and having to wait yet another week for pick-up? Has she considered such a person's neighbors having to put up with that?
---
If the Mayor's best argument is that the city could save $331,000.00, she's taken a knife to a gunfight. Adding $6.00 annually to the garbage fee (that's .50 cents a month for those in Liberalville) would cover that, but I suspect Mayor Obamalinson could save considerably more than $331,000.00 simply tweaking work hours, salaries, and perks.
---
When many city officials were given vehicles to take home at night, it was because city salaries were deemed to be lagging behind the private sector rates, and it seemed a valid way to compensate city employees without dipping too deep in the cookie jar. Times have changed, and public salaries seem to have caught up with or eclipsed the private sector market. How much money would the city save by limiting the city-issued take home cars to just the Mayor and the heads of Public Safety departments, and have a pool of vehicles when others need to get somewhere on city business. I don't think shopping and children carpooling constitute 'city business'.
---
Was it ironic, prophetic, or simply idiocy of some L-E staffer to mix wedding announcements, graduation announcements, anniversary milestones and other happy events in with the obituaries in today's L-E?

Online headline: "Mitt Romney On Climate Change: 'The World Is Getting Warmer... Humans Have Contributed' -- Talk about shooting oneself in the foot and a lot of other places, what's Romney's campaign slogan going to be, "Algore was right"?

From a fellow BCer: "Judge Rules Gay League Can Limit Number of Heterosexual Players * The ruling was announced after three bisexual men claimed they were kicked out of the Gay Softball World Series for not being gay enough and filed a lawsuit in Washington state against the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association * The men claim they were "summoned to a hearing room to answer questions about their sexual interests or attractions," according to the Courthouse News Service. * The men said they were told that "this is the Gay World Series, not the Bisexual World Series. * U.S. District Court Judge John Coughenour struck down the lawsuit. *"Plaintiffs have failed to argue that there is a compelling state interest in allowing heterosexuals to play gay softball," Coughenour wrote, according to the Courthouse News Service. * "It is not the role of the courts to scrutinize the content of an organization's chosen expression." --
Bet you wonder if the same judge would rule that Boy Scouts of America have the same scrutinization rights?
---
In response to one of my comments in yesterday's blog concerning the option of raising the garbage fee $6.00 A YEAR, here is Mayor Obamalinson's direct response,

"Because properly managed and prioritized, we have enough money coming into the city government to handle what our level of service should be. Two days a week pick up is excessive. I'm surprised you of all people are for raising fees for excessive service."

My response back, "I do not find twice a week service excessive... Besides what's excessive is for you to want to keep the same fees for less service when, by your own accounting, when another .50 cents a month would cover it."

Mayor Obamalinson's response back, "Difference of opinion obviously. I guess the point is, the fees we are collecting don't cover the service offered. We can cut the service to the rate of revenue or increase fees. I don't want to increase fees, as I feel we should live by our means. "

My response back, "Well, I guess we will disagree. I can not see value in eliminating a neighborhood plus that runs into 8 digits for revenue needs when a $6.00 per year fee addition (a gallon and a half worth of gasoline) will cover the difference in not having the neighborhood plus service. I'm sure than are many more opportunities to save $331,000.00 by simply tweaking salaries and wages as private industry has to do to keep within budget restraints."

Br'er Mayor Obamalinson, she don't say nuthin' else.

Online headline: "Barack Obama, John Boehner To Play Golf Together" -- Wish I could say, and believe, that Boehner "was taking one for the team" in that golfing with the Emperor O'Bozo would keep him from signing any executive orders for at least 4 hours, but having learned the Emperor can sign anything, any time via his automated "robo-pen", we are never safe.

L-E headline/story: "Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley to travel to China to teach officials * Hugley is one of several civil service employees who will be making the trip, which is being funded by the Vinson Institute and the Chinese government, according to the University of Georgia." -- Hmmm, now here's a dual opportunity.. Columbus can cut the budget by deducting his salary while he's away from Columbus, but Hugley can make up for it by getting a great deal on a Char-Broil grill at the Chinese outlet store.
