Online headline/story: "Former Colo. Kidnapper, Is Suing His Former Hostages For Breach Of Contract * In his lawsuit, 25-year-old Jessie Dimmick of Aurora, contends that after breaking into Jared and Lindsay Rowley's Topeka-area (Kansas) home while fleeing police, he and the couple reached a legally binding, oral contract that they would hide him for an unspecified amount of money." -- Only in the mind of a liberal could this actually be allowed in our court system.....
---
L-E headline: "Columbus Council taps Florida woman for community reinvestment director" -- I didn't know we had one before and now need another one. Can you believe Columbus has a person on payroll who's job it is to write applications to get other government agencies to get more tax dollars and that those other agencies have to get more tax dollars from us to send back to us to fund projects we don't necessarily need, but there are funds to get them?
---
L-E headline: "Columbus Copper Theft Task Force says microdot technology could curb thefts * $12,000 grant would equip officers with ultraviolet flashlights" -- $12,000.00 for ultraviolet flashlights that will end up in desk drawers unused. Even in the best economic situations, this is fluff and waste... sort like spitting (or other bodily fluiding) into the wind.
---
Oh, and Council believes having someone on the payroll to write grants for ultraviolet flashlights is a good thing?
---
The folly of a performing arts school is magnified when you think of the building requirements (and costs) for students with disabilities and physical handicaps. Can you imagine a wheelchair accessible ballet barre? Ah ah ah.. you know that would have to be included.
---
L-E headline/story: "Proposal to hike youth team fees gets spiked * "I think $100.00 is way too high, " councilor Gary Allen said. "I intend to vote against it and to encourage my fellow councilors to vote against it." -- Why does anyone on Council think that $100.00 per team per season is unreasonable? Little Leagues pay tremendous amounts to umpires/referees per season when they should, by organizational guidelines, have parent volunteers engaged in such situations. Even 20 years ago, umpiring costs were the highest expense related to a Little League season in most leagues in Columbus, and I'm sure they still are.
---
L-E liberal "soundoff": "The 1964 Civil Rights Act, hated by many Republicans, protected Jewish people as well as blacks and women. Isn't that ironic?" -- You can put the truth in front of a DIM&DUMBERat and it still won't change its prejudices. The actual vote of the 88th Congress is below, and if the great majority of Republicans hadn't supported it, it would not have passed:

House of Representatives:
Democrats for: 152
Democrats against: 96
Republicans for: 138
Republicans against: 34

Senate:
Democrats for: 46
Democrats against: 21
Republicans for: 27
Republicans against: 6

You would think the current situations in Libya and Egypt would embarrass potUS O'Blather for supporting the insurgent rebels in the beginning, but they don't.

Online story: "Murder suspect Joran van der Sloot has filed a lawsuit against the Chilean government, claiming his human rights were violated when he was extradited from Chile to Peru. The 24-year-old Dutchman is seeking $10 million in damages. * In addition to Perez, the lawsuit implicates former Peruvian Minister of Interior Octavio Salazar, former police generals Miguel Hidalgo and Cesar Guardia, and Ricardo Flores, the father of murder victim Stephany Flores." -- Well, all the defendants need to file massive lawsuits against Aruba which might sink the island completely out of existence!
---
Online headline: "Beverly Hall (former Atlanta School Chief) In First TV Interview After Atlanta Cheating Scandal: 'I Can't Make You Cheat'' -- Absolutely correct, but she could overlook it, encourage it, and tolerate it.
---
Online headline: "Lady Gaga Wants A Man With A Harvard Degree" -- Unless he was an unemployed lawyer or CPA, what would "a Harvard man" do with Lady Gaga?
---
In a nutshell, every City employee, especially any Council members, should immediately reimburse the citizens of Columbus for the price of any 'free tickets' they accepted, and everyone else Hester swapped out services for should be charged with receiving stolen merchandise. The practice of accepting event tickets against the rental costs or as part of the rental contract, should be stopped immediately. Council should not wait for the 'results' before scraping Hester over the rocks. Just the common information is enough to process criminal charges and revocation of any retirement benefits he was/is in line to receive.
---
L-E headline: "Military medical clinic to open in Brookstone Centre in '12" -- Just an observation, but why would locating in one of the highest cost areas help any better than a more central location?
---
L-E headline: "Dems hammer Romney on flips" -- Aren't these the same guys/gals that have been hammering potUS O'Blather on his campaign promise flops? Guess they are bi-POLL-ers
---
Watching Fox yesterday morning, there was a report of an interviewer descibing Donald Trump as her "sexiest interview ever" because of his 'rakish' good looks. "Rakish"? Actually, a 'good look' at 'the Donald' shows his hair is more of a "rake over".
--
Fox also interviewed another Victoria's Secret "Angel". Can you imagine any mother instilling a career path for her toddler daughter to become runway underwear models?
---

WRBL3 headline: "Police presence at 2011 Iron Bowl" -- Oooops, my bad. Thought some local promoter had gone out on a limb and had erroneously booked an oldies group for a post game AU victory party.
---
Online story: "Federal prosecutors in Florida say at least three people working for a septic tank company duped customers into buying about $1 million in unnecessary products – in some cases enough toilet paper to last more than 70 years. * More than a dozen customers were told they needed special toilet paper to avoid ruining their septic tanks because the federal government changed regulations on toilet paper. " -- Rumor has it that those three have been bailed out by the National DIM&DUMBERat Party and hired as "election consultants" specializing in 'selling' potUS O'Blather's campaign promises.
---
These 'born-again Christian Democrats', where do they get their instructions? Surely not the Bible. The Bible tells us charity/love is our personal responsibility, not one to delegate to a government program.
---
L-E story: "Cleveland - An Ohio third-grader who weighs more than 200 pounds has been taken from his family and placed into foster care after county social workers said his mother wasn't doing enough to control his weight." -- Oh, and putting his into a federal supplied food program is going to help? This sounds more like Nazism than just normal government socialism.
---
After listening to Congressman Durbin. Fox News needs to change its corporate motto. It's truly not fair or balanced for any liberal to have to debate live with any thinking person.
---
That said, do you think, honestly think, that DIM&DUMBERats believe the economic rhetoric they spew? How do these people get re-elected?

How can any Jos A Bank employee look any customer in the eye and claim any of the merchandise has a "regular price"?
---
It's time for Micelle Bachmann to bow out of the Republican nomination race. I'd like to say "bow out gracefully", but that oppportunity has passed a long time ago. Her campaign has dropped from 'legitimacy' to "yoo hoo, I'm over here. Look at me, I need to feel relevant".
---
You know, Michelle Bachmann has become the Nancy Pelosi of the Republican Party. She, too, has a bully pulpit, and she, too, has lost her relevance.
---
Why would a bank spend thousands of dollars on an ad to promote interest rates of 0.8- to 1.00% on your money? Wouldn't the bank get better response if it used the money it spent on the ads to bolster the interest rates to its customers?
---
Labor costs for the USPS are at 80%...no wonder it cannot make money to provide ongoing services... Wait a minute! That's less a percent of revenues than the MCSD budget! The MCSD budget spends almost 85% of its revenues on salaries/benefits, leaving totally inadequate resources for maintaining the infrastructure needed to apply the educational services we expect. The elected MCSD board does not do the due diligence that the appointed board used to do to represent the community needs versus the school system wants.
---
Some NBA staffer says, "We're baaccckkkk!". Hmmm, Has anyone really missed the NBA? Uhhh, has anyone relevant really missed the NBA?

Online headline: "Key House Democrat Won't Seek Re-Election" -- Ooops! Thought the keeper of the DIM&DUMBERat skeleton closet had been outed.
---
Online headline: "Ex-MLBer Lenny Dykstra: 'I'm Not A Criminal' -- What's he up to....trying to land the lead part of the stage adatation of "Nixon"?
---
How does a president of the United States give praise and ask for something in prayer without mentioning God?
---
L-E headline today: "Endangered baby gorilla born at Chicago Zoo dies" -- Tomorrow's headline: "Dead endangered baby gorilla votes in Chicago"
---
L-E's "Quotable": "There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life." - Frank Zappa, American musician (1940-1993)" -- He must have said this in addressing the DIM&DUMBERat National Convention in 1992 introducing Bill Clinton to the Election Strategy Committee.
---
L-E story: "The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights says it plans to examine the effect on people's civil rights of strict new laws targeting illegal immigration in several states." -- Well, I hope it looks closely at the civil rights violations the illegal aliens impose on American citizens!
---
On paper, the SEC Championship could have teams squaring off with 10 and 12 game winning streaks, but is this a smoke 'n mirrors statistic? After the Iron Bowl is over, the SEC schedule of UGA will have had but one SEC opponent finishing the season with a winning SEC record, USC, which beat the Dawgs. Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling for the Dawgs... UGA's and MSU's today!
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON - A safety investigation of the lithium-ion batteries in General Motors Co.'s Chevrolet Volt is under way to assess the risk of fire in the electric car after a serious crash.. * GM, which was informed of the investigation on Friday, said in a statement that the Volt "is safe and does not present undue risk as part of normal operation or immediately after a severe crash." -- Hmmm, guess this is Government Motors stock answer, and should be compared with the more familiar and oxymoronic, "I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help you." response of all other government offices.

Friday, November 25, 2011

L-E story: "In an era when corporate giants face relentless pressure to cut expenses to the bone, it’s nice to know Columbus companies have the philanthropic spirit. * Start with TSYS this week pledging a record $1.119 million to the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley campaign, with about $900,000 coming from the credit-card processor’s employees. * Then there’s Aflac, which has raised $3 million for the treatment and research of cancer in children over the past decade by selling a plush holiday duck in Macy’s department stores. * And staffers of Synovus Financial Corp. this week are working on the home of Columbus resident Josephine Cunningham, whose late husband, Joseph, was a military veteran. It’s part of the House of Heroes program, with which Synovus has assisted countless residents." -- How much did the "Occupy Ft Benning, SOA Watch, and the NAACP" contribute to the community's needs?
---
barackobama.com is having another 'dinner with barack' contest, only this time a donation is required to enter. McDonald's and Burger King have options for their contests that you do not have to purchase anything to get a chance to win. Obviously, potUS O'Blather is rooting out "Occupy" participants from winning a free meal.
---
What does potUS O'Blather mean when he says he's anti-lobbyist? If you pay $35,800.00 to meet/dine with him, wouldn't you expect something in return other than a wine stain on your neck tie?
---
Why would Mayor Obamalinson want a high speed train to connect Columbus & Atlanta? Does she want to eliminate taxpaying enterprises such as the airport shuttle companies, and airport connector flights in order to spend more tax dollars supplementing a government run venture that will not make money? Maybe it's just because she's trying to bury Expedia even deeper.
---
L-E headline: ":GOP hopefuls dragged into N.H. gay marriage battle" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought for a second was that the candidates would have to be dressed 'in drag' to participate.
---
L-E story: "The judges and lawyers have been taking a few hits in the newspaper's pages - and not necessarily undeserved." (Judge) A____ said." -- Simply another situation/example/confirmation of 99% of the legal filed giving the other 1% of lawyers a bad reputation.
---
From same L-E story: "According to the newspaper's analysis, (Congressman) Bishop is among the 10 poorest members of Congress with a networth of -$159,496.00." -- How can Congress budget tax dollars when any Congressman cannot budget his household? One thing this evaluation surely does not include is the sum in his campaign chest.

Happy Thanksgiving! Be thankful for all of God's blessings and challenges.

When the MSNBC/NBC/CNN media was invited to the White House to witness Presidential Pardons for a pair of turkeys, most were surprised that one of the turkeys wasn't Eric Holder.
---
J.Lo has done a Fiat commercial in her home town neighborhood in "the Bronx". Bet Fiat wasn't worried that the car would end up on cement blocks before the commercial could be finished; Fiat probably was more worried some gang might put the car on their shoulders and just carry it off.
---
Online headline:"Russia Issues Stern Warning to US" -- Can you imagine this headline if a Conservative (for that matter, any US president that the Russians respected) was in the Oval Office?
---
I'll bet MasterCard wanted to run an ad featuring potUS O'Blather in the "priceless" position, but figured people would dump their MasterCards because everyone knows potUS O'Blather has a price... a $35,800.00 donation for dinner with him.
---
Thanks to a knowledgeable fellow BCer, got new data concerning tank maintenance. As training base, the tanks at Ft Benning will be in constant use with little down time to basic maintenance so such a facility as is being built is quitre necessary for quick turn around to get the tanks back into excellent condition for our blessed soldiers. Keep'em in your prayers, today and every day.
---
L-E story: "Army (Corps of Engineers) officials plan to cut the flow of water from Lake Lanier from 750 cubic feet per second to 650 cubic feet per second, Army Corps spokesman Pat Robbins said." -- You know, if you make a 15% reduction in water flow, the impact is that the water we get downstream is 15% more impacted with Atlanta sewage.
---
Have you seen the list of participants invited to the potUS O'Blather basketball fund raiser? It doesn't appear to reflect America nor any diversity guidelines.
---
The "Occupy" movement is getting down to a battle between the 'working class' and the 'lurking (for government handouts) class'.
---
Since some retail stores are open 24/7, how do they open up 'early' on Black Friday?
---

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

One question: Why would the MCSD have the audacity to commission people to work up a districting plan at all when the Council was actually charged with doing such?
---
From a L-E story: "Hensel Phelps Construction Co. of Austin, Texas, will build the (tank maintenance) structure, which has a price tag of $31.3 million and is scheduled for completion in July 2013. The repair facility will be able to handle 14 to 20 tanks at a time." -- If there is a need to repair 14 - to - 20 tanks at a time here under 'ideal' and 'controlled' conditions, are these tanks battle worthy in third world countries?
---
There should be an immediate criminal review and investigation, with a 'hold' placed on any checks and benefits, of the retirement eligibility of Dale Hester, and if Council hasn't done so, the 'accepted practice' of event tickets being accepted as part of rental negotiations stopped. In effect, if even Councilors accepted 'free tickets' for events, then they were pretty much accepting 'stolen city-owned property'.
---
Solyndra.....it's just is not going away. Now we find the Federal Department of Labor has awarded each of the 1,100 dismissed employees, $13,000.00 "severance pay". That's an additional $14,300,000.00 to the $537,000,000.00 we tax payers are on the hook for loan guarantees to potUS O'Blather's campaign donors!
---
L-E "headlie": "Economy would suffer if tax cut, jobless aid end" -- Oh, like the economy hasn't suffered because of tax rates and extended jobless benefits? Giving lazy or unmotivated people an opportunity to procrastinate will always guarantee more procrastination.
---
There's a difference.... a measurable difference, between DIM&DUMBERats and normal people. Normal people want to help the needy, the truly needy, with a hand-up in their time of need. DIM&DUMERats want this, too, BUT DIM&DUMBERats consider "I'd rather just get you to give me stuff rather than me have to earn it" as 'needy'.
---
Latest e-mail from barackabama.com: " A few Thursdays ago, I had dinner with four Americans named Ken, Casey, Juanita, and Wendi -- the winners of the campaign's first Dinner with Barack contest. * I loved getting to know each of them. * They're people like Juanita, who helped put her three sons through college on a teacher's salary while saving what she could for retirement." -- Whatta sob story...no, whatta a story from a SOB. Every teacher has a state funded retirement plan (maybe some with mandatory participation) but it's a golden egg compared to non-teachers who don't have the option to retire in their early 50's versus 62/65 for those who were forced to contribute to the Social Security plan.

Once the thought was implanted, I cannot ride by the Nissan dealership without thinking, "Taliban Headquarters".
---
A while back, the MCSD 'asked' Council to forego the fee for collecting the property taxes the MCSD receives. Fortunately, the Council said, "No way!". Now, Council should demand that the MCSD pony up a decent fee to pay for the services of the CPD & CFD for being on demand. One way the MCSD could afford this would be to eliminate its own 'security force' which hasn't demonstrated much efficiency in heading off vandalism or copper thefts.
---
To show his support for the protesters, potUS O'Blather should spend more time "Occupying the White House" than "Occupying a Vacation Home".
---
L-E headline: "More students surrender in NY SAT-cheating scandal" -- Well, at least it shows the students were learning how to do something, even if not well, from their teachers.
---
L-E 'head-joke': "Congress faces tough issues after panel's failure" -- Liberal media are so predictably disoriented. The tough issues guaranteed the panel's failure!
---
Just thinking about schools wanting to sell ads in the school buildings just rankles me! Wrongly competing against private sector businesses for ad revenues just typifies the lack of what a school's position in the community is about.
---
A local car dealer should rethink, well, at least reword, his ads...."Drive a 'car', get a turkey"
---
How does a school take so long to 'retire' a jersey of a past sports star, and at the same time 'retire' a second players jersey for the second time? Most of us think of a jersey retirement as a one-time ceremony. Thank goodness she wasn't given a gold watch the first time.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA - A federal judge has denied bond for the four elderly Georgia men accused of plotting terror attacks against government officials. -- Thank goodness it was a federal case! If it had gone to the GA Supreme Court, they'd be out based on 'ineffective counsel'.
---
L-E headline: "Was police use of pepper spray on protesters justified?" -- Hmmmm, the question should have been "Was pepper spray as good a choice versus soap and water?".

Online headline: "Obama Campaign Blasts Romney's First TV Ad As 'Deceitful' -- Looks like another "please don't throw me in the briar patch" moment for potUS O'Blather. Wonder which campaign worker will get fired for not thinking of it first?
---
DIM&DUMBERats all the way to the White House say taxing the rich is the way to prosperity, yet are back pedaling on their desire to cut Medicare payments to doctors/hospitals. Did someone in the DIM&DUMBERat Party finally realize that their campaign supporters in the medical/hospital/insurance fields are among the ones that they consider needing to be soaked with 'too rich' taxes?
---
Online headline: "Super Committee Deal Not Reached, Leaders Say " -- For one thing, there were no "leaders' present...sacrificial (because they have no re-election fears) maybe, but no 'leaders; secondly, this headline was written before the committee members were announced.

One of the Occupy Wall Street leaders is 'occupying' a $700.00 a day sy=uite at the "W Hotel". Guess we know who has the access to the $500,000.00 donations.

It's strange, maybe even ominous, that in the President Cup Matches, the American members were photographed with an American flag as a backdrop, but the International members forfeited their individual countries' flags for a New World Order type flag.
---
Guess we'll see a record number of turkeys having their criminal records expunged and sentences commuted in Washington, DC this week. potUS O'Blather will pardon the 6 DIM&DUMBERat members of the Super Committee.
---
Letter sent in yesterday - In all sincerity, I cannot support any MCSD expenditures for property for an unfunded future SPLOST project.
With the current SPLOST revenues being highly short of projected figures, and without confidence that the community will support a new SPLOST to complete unfinished projects, spending $3.6 million on a burned out building site seems to be less than responsible. Just a recent example of the value of a burned out building is the Baker High School property which came nowhere close to the figure the MCSD wants to spend on the Bibb Mill property, and if the property is attained, but funding for it in another SPLOST is rejected, too much capital will be lost in a bad investment.
Update today: Of course, the MCSD board split on the decision not to buy it based on the Macon Road line.
---
Do you still vividly remember where you were 48 years ago today?
---
With seemingly all the retail world unanimously promoting "Black Friday", I have to wonder if some mall Santa Clauses will be dressed in black suits....
---
It's almost eerie that Mayor Obamalinson and I have a similar disdain for the proposed 1% T(ransportation)-SPLOST the state wants to get passed. Of course there is a main difference: She's only against it because she won't get her hands on enough of the revenue, I am opposed to it because it's economy zapping new tax. Columbusites would be facing an 8% level of taxing before they can even think about budgeting in their state and federal income taxes.
---
I really do not get the NASCAR affiliation importance, but I guess an advertising agent could truthfully say that by the time a car has driven 300 times around a track for a 50,000 person audience, each car logo has had 15,000,000 'exposures'.
---
Oh, has any one heard if Council is looking into the policy of the Civic Center to receive and personally redistribute 'free' tickets for events?
---
I was "shocked" to hear yesterday, from a well informed person, that golfers at Bull Creek and Oxbow Meadows are not monitored about bring outside beer for on course consumption. Besides being a detriment to in house sales and consumption control at those courses, is it not against the law for any individual to 'brown bag' beer under state and local laws?
---
L-E headline: " Attorney arrested for allegedly striking wife with plate * S_____ T_____ charged with one count of aggravated assault" -- Rumor has it his attorney will plead him "Not Guilty" because ST and his wife were actually engaged in a friendly game of Ultimate Frisbee.
---
Why is the MCSD allowing its high schools to be split up into 4 different classifications? Why does not the MCSD board and school administration get a closer range of students per high school? I was 'shocked' to learn that the MCSD is spending between $40M & $50M on the new Carver High School and Carver has only 740 students. That's better than $65,000.00 per student slot.
---
potUS O'Blather is so too faced! He blasts the super-rich, especially if they are Republican in thought, yet he promotes 'green loopholes' for liberal entities. Billions in loan guarantees have been recently defaulted by green energy companies, and he has authorized "tax credits" for consumers who can afford and actually bought into the hype and have installed the high priced geo-thermal water heating systems and solar energy panels.

Online liberal commentary headline: "Pizza is a Vegetable? Congress Defies Logic, " -- Well, a conservative writer would have written this headline, "Congress is a vegetable! Logic defines Pizza"
---
Online headline: "'Super Committee' Likely to Fail" -- Was there anyone who actually felt different about this the day Pelosi and Reid named their participants? Why is this news?
---
Online headline/story: "Dale Kildee, Democratic Congressman, Denies Molestation Allegations * Rep. Dale Kildee (D-Mich.) is denying allegations that he molested a family member more than 50 years ago. * This is a concerted effort by distant relatives, two of whom have a long history of mental illness and multiple run-ins with the law, along with political adversaries to destroy my reputation by lying about something that never took place more than 50 years ago." -- How novel... a DIM&DUMBERat politician calling a family member a liar.

Online headline: "N.Y.C. Thwarts Terrorist Attack" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was a rehash of an old Occupy Wall Street story.

Online headline: "Rahm Emanuel: Mitt Romney 'Turns A Blind Eye' To The Middle Class" -- Hmmm, as opposed to Rahm Emanuel who never lets his eye leave a chaotic opportunity to remove the Middle Class's wallet whenever an opportunity presents itself?

L-E headline: "Police in Cairo burn tents" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was about Occupy Cairo, NY.

I hear potUS O'Blather is dusting off his 2008 "Hope & Change" signs. I guess in 2012, he's Hoping that the media isn't Changing horses in midstream.

Got a response from a MCSD board member who said buying the burned out Bibb Mill for the site of a performing arts school was in the SPLOST prospectuses of 2003 and 2009. Must have been hidden behind the broccoli on the proposed school meal menu.
---
BCS rankings have LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas as 1, 2, and 3. Guess Texas A7M and Missouri are wondering if the SEC invited them in to have fodder for homecoming weekends.

L-E headline: "Muscogee Co. school board wants to buy old Bibb Mill for $3.6M * Superintendent Andrews pushing to turn site into performing arts academy" -- Madness! When our school system can point out that it has 100% of its students graduating as functioning and independent adults, maybe an idea like this could be considered. Isn't one Taj Mahal building enough or does Andrews think not having a river view from her office on Macon Road is beneath her station in life?
---
L-E story: "A possible purchase of the site would include 14.3 acres, including the 58,000-square-foot existing mill fronting First Avenue. The board would use $1.1 million from the 2003 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds and $2.5 million from the 2009 SPLOST to purchase the site owned by River Mill LLC." -- Wait a minute! How can funds that were earmarked as SPLOST projects be rerouted to something the voters did not specifically approve!
---
Why are the "Occupy Whatever" folks here in the US? If they want total government control of their welfare and healthcare and jobs, then just go and "Occupy Havana or Teheran", where that's what the people already have.
---
Name me one other country where an illegal alien can openly lease a rental facility as a residence....I didn't think I'd ever say this, but "Go, Alabama!
---
L-E headline: "Georgia school district looks at ads to make money" -- Well, if that Georgia school district would put out quality educated graduates, it could generate plenty of money from students being pulled out of private schools and going to public schools where the state legislators provide more money per student than most private schools charge for tuition.
---
Instant repeat - L-E headline/story: "Georgia school district looks at ads to make money * The proposal before the Douglas Count school board would mean the district's 37 schools could sell ad space pretty much anywhere in the building that's not a classroom." -- Can't you see it? The first advertiser would be "Trojan Condoms" in the school's guidance counselors offices and the girls locker rooms!
---
L-E headline: " Egyptian police clash with protesters ahead of first vote" -- Oooops, my bad, just thought someone had found out where all the 2008 ACORN voter precinct monitors has resurfaced with new jobs.
---
I hate when charitable events run ads highlighting the sponsors. It takes a considerable amount of money to pay for one of those, and would that money be better used going towards doing the special works the money was raised for?
---
Jimmy Wetzel is obviously a legend in his own mind, thin skinned, and not a man of few words. Did the L-E pay him by the number of words?
---
From L-E editorial: "...says Tomlinson, who is appointing a commission to study the potential and costs of rail passenger service. “Columbus is committed to being on the passenger rail line.” -- A better perspective would recognize that anyone for another failed attempt at a publicly run transportation system should be committed to some non-state run facility.

A school in Toronto has banned "hard balls" (soccer, tennis, basketball, football, etc) from its playgrounds because one woman's daughter was hit in the head by an errant soccer ball and suffered a mild concussion. Gimme a break! What's next? Are they going to make children in the band play "air guitar"?

No one is surprised at the DIM&DUMBERats position on the Congressional Super Committee. No one really thought a compromise of value could be attained when the option on the table was for there to be major cuts in defense triggered if the Super Committee couldn't agree on other entitlement cuts. It reminded me of an old Uncle Remus tale, when Br'er Rabbit pleaded with Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear vehemently not to throw him into the briar patch. DIM&DUMBERats never have chosen to cut entitlement over defense.
---
Online headline: "Joe Paterno's Son Reveals Former Coach Has Lung Cancer" -- Sorry, the cancer card isn't going to work; obviously Joe PA has some 'brain cancer', too.
---
Online headline: "'Colored Only,' Racist Signs Found On SUNY New Paltz Campus" -- One of the signs was one above a water fountain that read, "Colored Only". That's racist for sure; it discriminates against 'whites". Let it not go unnoticed that this is happening in that liberal DIM&DUMBERat world of New York.
---
From the 'only in California' departmenbt - Online story: "STOCKTON, Calif. -- A high school teacher is under investigation after school officials said she was maintaining a pornographic website from her school-issued laptop computer." -- What'll bet that she will be exonerated by the California Teachers Association because she was only tweaking next semester's sex ed curriculum?
---
WRBL3 headline: "One percent sales tax increase for transportation projects up for vote" -- Have politicians have no shame? For the state, that would raise the consumer use taxes by 20%!. Now, I might be interested if the State House would offer that 1% Transportation SPLOST in exchange for offsetting expenditures in state entitlement programs, state property taxes, and state income taxes. Please don't let the state to dangle that 1% TSPLOST under Mayor Obamalinson's nose as she hasn't mentioned a tax increase that she doesn't like!

On a WTVM9 video of SOA Demonstrators in Lumpkin, GA, one protester is holding a sign that reads, "Immigrants are not for sale - Shut down Stewart Detention Center". My first question is whether or not she can actuallt read what the sign says that she is holding, but my main question is, "Huh?".
---
Looking at a L-E overhead picture of the SOA Watch demonstrators in Lumpkin, it'd be safe to say that there were as many police vehicles following as there were demonstrators marching. Is that a necessary expense?
---
My daily e-mail from 'barackobama.com' was an opportunity to sign a birthday card, and send a message to VPOTUS Biden-Biden, so I did: Happy Birthday, Joe! "We Can't Wait" for November 2012. How about a birthday gift to the nation of early retirement.

Online commentary: "Rep. Maxine Waters: California Deserves a Better Deal" -- And the other 49 states deserve for California to give us a better Representative.
---
L-E headline/story: "METRA to receive 4 new hybrid buses * Funding largely from $1.67M federal grant * The Orion VII buses, which cost about $505,000 each, are 35 percent more fuel efficient than buses currently operated by METRA. * “This is a huge thing,” she (Mayor Obamalinson) said. “It will save fuel and it will save money.” -- Without spending a nickel on new buses, Metra could save more fuel and money, and be 'greener' at the same time by reducing the schedule so we don't have buses riding around empty or with 1 or 2 riders. As it is, Metra doesn't have enough riders to attract public transportation robberies like other cities have.
---
Online headline/story: "Forced To Join A Union: SEIU Collects Union Dues From Disabled Kids’ Medicaid Checks * What would you say if you found out someone was taking money - without permission - from medicaid checks meant for disabled children? Well, it's happening to thousands of families all over Michigan right now. This money is being deducted automatically by a state agency and given directly to a union, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). * Whether they like it or not, these people are classified as state employees because they provide care for their children, who would have otherwise ended up in a nursing home. Each month, they see a portion of their Medicaid checks siphoned off to a union that provides them with no benefits." -- That's yours and my tax dollars being paid directly to unions!
---
Protesters protesting the high cost of living fail to comprehend that they are one of the reasons that living has a high cost. Way to go education system!
---
The only "zero-tolerance" plan the MCSD needs is one of holding teachers to a 'zero-tolerance' of excuses why students aren't learning. No coach wins with a team that he excuses because of the players economic background.
---
L-E headline/story: "Portugal court refuses to send U.S. fugitive home * LISBON, Portugal - A Portuguese court has denied a U.S. request for the extradition of a captured U.S. fugitive who has spent 41 years on the run..." -- If the U.S. simply dropped a single bunker-blaster on Aruba, or Switzerland, or Portugal when they refuse to extradite a U.S. felon, we wouldn't have 'mice that roar'.
---
How unfortunate that Willie Horton, honoree of the National Infantry Museum, shares the same name with the 1988 Presidential campaign bogeyman of DIM&DUMBERat Michael Dukakis, "Where's Willie"...
---
Though glad no more damage occurred to "St Elmo" than it did, it's awfully funny to see repairs are going to cost $400,000.00 on a property that is valued on the MC tax digest at only $285,286.00. You'd think the insurance company would just "total" the house, and give'm a check for the assessed value.
---
Online headline: "Roy Egan, Former O'Hare TSA Agent, Fired Over Repeated Anti-Muslim, Racist Facebook Remarks" -- Wonder if anyone in government would have cared if he's been Anti-Christian?
---
Online headline: "Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, White House Shooting Suspect, Charged With Attempting To Assassinate Obama " -- Oh, this is the guy the Occupy Oakland group held a 'moment of silence' for yesterday morning. Can't you see the gun being linked to "Fast 'n Furious"?
---

Where will it end? Now it's been revealed that one of the green energy loans in default had the president of the SEIU on its board.
---
Do you think potUS O'Blather plans to go back to the Occupy DC crowd for some glad-handing since the Occupy leaders have been praising the guy that took pot shots at O'Blather's White House living quarters.
---
DIM&DUMBERats, which compose 50% of the Super Committee to cut spending, want the Republican members to propose new tax revenue. Excuse me, but we don't have a tax revenue problem, we have a D&D spending problem.

Somethings never change:

Following the announcement of corporations in Columbus giving record amounts to the community, it's interesting, no...revealing, that the organizations protesting WHINSEC (Occupy Ft Benning, SOA Watch/Bourgeois, and the NAACP) seem not to be involved in supporting the community's charitable needs.
---
Online headline: "National Curriculum Standards A Struggle For Some Chicago Schools " -- And what was Arne Duncan's, current Secretary of Education, previous job? CEO of Chicago Public Schools.
---
Online headline: "Obama Vows to 'Project Power' in Asia-Pacific" -- I guess following the hula contest, APEC had an open-mike stand up comedy segment.
---
Online Quote source: "Big jobs usually go to the men who prove their ability to outgrow small ones." - Theodore Roosevelt" -- Like every tidbit of wisdom, there is always an exception...little did Teddy Roosevelt ever dream that the biggest job in the world would go to a man who never even held a small job outside of government.
---
Steve Toms....
---
Just listening to the constant barrage of Jos. A. Bank ads, you have to wonder if they have ever sold anything for "regular price"....or can.
---
Our government is allowing that our children, and the values we teach/preach, be overwhelmed by Hollywood. There's an ad out for the movie, "Immortals" spelled out as well as blared out that iy was full of "kick ass 3-D". Call/write your Congresspeople and demand they act on controlling what is allowed into our homes, our children's lives through the TV.
---
Ever thoiught about how potUS O'Blather can hear, can see, can support the "Occupy Wall Street & beyond" crowd, but has ignored the crowd that went to the ballot boxes in 2010?
---
Did hear this on the radio, but wouldn't it be ironic if the assault rifle found in the car of the gut arrested for shooting at the White House was a gun sent to Mexico by potUS OBlather's and Eric Holder's "Fast & Furious" fiasco?
---
Liberal L-E "soundoff": "George W. Bush gave us the economy we have today. Obama could have fixed it by now except for the obstuctionist Republicans in Congress." -- "They" do exist, and unfortunately have the right to vote. Obviously a product of public education graduated without the ability to read or he'd know that the DIM&DUMBERats had super-majorities in both Houses of Congress and potUS O'Blather couldn't fix anything , but did manage to add 50% more national debt to what we had when he took office.
---
"The Landings" is showing a free movie Friday night. Unfortunately, the Landings has chosen one that features Lindsay Lohan when she was obnoxiously cute. Couldn't the Landings have picked a better children's role model to project to children when they are trying to be good right before the Holidays?
---
Hmmm, only Illinois and the District of Columbia do not have Concealed Carry Permit provisions. Guess that's because politicians in those areas do not want law abiding citizens to be armed in the two most corrupt political arenas in the country.

Comparing Cypert to Sandusky has some merit, but comparing Susan Bryant to Joe Paterno is more than a stretch. I remember when this event went on at CHS as I had a daughter there at the time. The young woman was already 18 when the situation was revealed. When MS Bryant approached her directly, the 18 year old denied the allegation (as did Cypert). If you're not familiar with privacy laws, you'll be amazed at how quickly you can be denied any access to the world of a child who has turned 18. If you've tried to talk with a college about your child's performance or situation, unless you have written on-hand permission from your child, the college will literally hang-up on you. Of course, the college will take your check for the services it provides for the person the college will not talk to you about.
---
From the "only in California" department - Online story: "A federal judge has ruled that officials at Live Oak in Morgan Hill had a legal right to send home students wearing shirts with the American flag on Cinco de Mayo because of a "reasonable fear" the images could spark violence," -- God help us! How can a judge penalize an American for standing up for his patriotism for his country? I see no problem with acknowledging another country's independence day, but not at the expense of our country's history.
---
Jerry Sandusky said he was not "a pedofile", and that he is not sexually attracted to young boys. Oh, next he'll be claiming that it's a curse that he is attractive to young boys!
---
From the recent demands from certain Councilors, one doesn't have to do much speculation that Mike Gaymon was driven out of the Chairmanship of the Crime Prevention board. Whether or not we agreed with the creation of the department by Mayor Wetherington, there was solace, a certain comfort, in the selection of Seth Brown as ED and Mike Gaymon as the Chairman. To have the issue of those two taking proper care of the money the department issued berated by Councilors undermines all public confidence...in Council.

L-E headline: "Chamber head Mike Gaymon resigns as chairman of Columbus Crime Prevention board * Resignation effective immediately, he says" -- Say it ain't so, Mike!
---
Online headline: "Jerry Sandusky Says He's Innocent, Admits To Showering With Kids" -- Next he'll be using the Clinton defense... he has a 'sex addiction'.
---
Online headline: "Penn State Board of Trustees says it's "Outraged"" -- Sorry, but 'outraged' is not enough.
---
Chelsea Clinton has just been hired by NBC. Guess NBC has to decided to end any doubt of its political biases.
---
potUS O'Blather says "America has been lazy for the past couple of decades". "Lazy"? Try "exhausted" from having to do then "Teaberry Shuffle" to get through all the imposed government regulations in order to do any business at all.
---
I'm also sick and tired of potUS O'Blather's "We Can't Wait" projects. The only "We Can't Wait" projects that gives us HOPE is the CHANGE 'we can't wait' to im[pose on the 2012 election.
---
From L-E story: "School superintendent Susan Andrews said current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax collections are approximately $400,000 per month less than projected, though collections are up." -- Since the SPLOST projected expectations of $44,600,000.00 annually, does she mean that during the recession that the SPLOST has collected $39,800,000.00 annually? That would be truly amazing. Before the recession erupted, the most any SPLOST/LOST had ever collected in one year was about $36,000,000.00, and the norm has been between $31 - $32 Million. Let's hear what Council says it has received on its higher indexed LOST over the last 3 years.
---
I do not want to hear new math formulas that hide the actual dollars received from the MCSD SPLOST; I want to see the actual number of dollars that have been put in the bank!
---
L-E story: "The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Georgia Power, both of which control dams north of downtown Columbus, have been working with the whitewater project group to limit downstream flow so large river rocks that will create one of the rapids can be moved into place, said Richard Bishop, president of Uptown Columbus Inc" -- I thought the whole impetus was to restore the natural river bed to its original status... how come channels have to be put in place, and large rocks have to be moved/planted to create the rapids?
---
Another UnderRiverWalk question: "Who is going to be responsible for future damages/lawsuits if the repair of the collapsed section collapse again with people watching whitewater events?
---
If there is any laziness in trying to recruit new businesses to America, it's because lousy leadership from the White House. Success, or lack of it, reflects leadership.
---
It's really inexcusable for a President who thinks businesses don't pay enough taxes to call businesses lazy for not attracting more foreign competitive industries to America.
---
potUS O'Blather is now scolding businesses for being lazy at attracting new foreign businesses to locate here. Excuse me? I do believe that O'Blather's executive orders, HELL-thScare, and the unions have more to do with foreign businesses wanting to locate here.
---
If potUS O'Blather wants to create jobs, forget Canada, and open up the oil reserves of the northern midwest states and Alaska, and build our own pipelines.
---
The Canadian Prime Minister said the Keystone Pipeline was a "win-win no brainer". Unfortunately, he wasn't aware he was dealing with a the DIM&DUMBERat No-Brainer Administration.
---
If Monica Lewinski had lived in the apartment complex of Karl Rove or Newt Gingrich, the media would have raised cain about politics. The fact that Bialek lived in the same apartment complex as David Axelrod just draws a mainstream media yawn.
I think Nancy Pelosi was confused when she bought Visa. She'd have a pretty good argument that she was only preparing for a quick exit from the US following the 2012 elections.
---
As hard as it is, you have to have some sympathy for Princess Pelosi. At the 2008 First Lady's Luncheon sponsored by the Congressional Club, as Congressional wives were escorted down a runway on the arms of strapping young Marines, Pelosi's spouse became the only male and was escorted by a female Marine. Have pictures I took to prove it.
---
When you think about it, potUS O'Blather cannot force AG Eric Holder to resign without losing his control on Holder.
---
It's nice the CWW says it won't ask us to pay more for our water next year, but it would be nicer if the CWW says it will give us cleaner water, too. The iron residue in the toilets is worse than ever, and I wonder if I have some sort of lawsuit to the damage that iron is causing to my water heater, dishwasher, ice maker, washing machine, and steam dryer.
---
When Council starts examining lost tax revenues from downtown properties, Council will stop fawning over the growth of the River Campus. Every purchase removes taxable property from the City's revenue stream.
---
Hey, Chuck - Sounds like one cold beer on a Sunday afternoon won't satisfy you like 6 will. I would rather you drive after consuming a single cold beer than after you went through a 6-pack. BTW, you could make a Gomer-styled "citizen's arrest' when people distribute Alabama beer from the trunk of their cars.

The L-E's leading economic indicator, the Foreclosure Section, is still at its annual high of 12 pages.

Online headline: "Obama Vows To Put Pressure On Iran To Halt Nuclear Program" -- Yeah...what's he gonna do, put TSA agents in Teheran to pat down suicide bombers?
---
Online headline: "Obama Calls Penn State Scandal 'Heartbreaking' -- "Heartbreaking"? Losing a basketball game on a 3/4 court shot that "gets nothing but net" as the buzzer sounds is 'heartbreaking'; the Penn State scandal is perverted in many way. Ooops, better not say that again or the LGBT or ACLU will be out in force saying it's a civil rights intrusion!
---
L-E headline/story: "Local leaders vow to get city in rail plan * It’s been over 40 years since Columbus residents could hop aboard the old Central of Georgia Man O’ War for a three-hour trip to Atlanta." -- " a three-hour trip to Atlanta"... sounds more like a verse from Gilligan's Island than something anyone would ever want to do again. Besides, with Atlanta only a 90-100 minute car ride with the convenience of having transportation once you get there (like all the shopping areas are in Downtown on Peachtree), the railroad companies lost passenger service to progress, much like stage coaches losing out to railroads 125+ years ago, and railroads losing out to modern cars and airlines in the last 50 years. This is nothing but a bunch of politicians getting together to draw a horse and getting a camel.
---
Online headline: "Obama Warns Debt Super Committee Not to Cheat on Deficit-Cutting Mandate " -- Hmmm..... this only leads to thinking about what potUS O'Blather wants them to cheat on.
---
Online headline/story: "Questions Arise Over $433M Smallpox Drug Contract to Company Tied to Dem Donor * The Los Angeles Times reported over the weekend that U.S. officials took unusual steps to award the contract to Siga Technologies. Democratic donor Ronald Perelman has the controlling share of the company. * Earlier, in December, the government also reportedly blocked other companies from bidding on the contract in a second round. * The government already has a smallpox vaccine on reserve. Siga's pill is meant to help people diagnosed too late for the vaccine to be effective, according to the Times. * But the drug has not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, * One epidemiologist described the plan as a "waste of time and a waste of money." -- Oh, a half billion here, and a billion there; it's just money...yeah, but it's OUR money!
---
Online headline/story: "Ex-Obama Operative Urged White House to Oust Energy Secretary Chu, Emails Show * A White House spokesman said Friday the plan to oust Chu was not taken very seriously. " -- Yeah, and his pink slip will carry a "we're behind you 1,000%" (keyword is 'behind', and don't let us see you again)
---
Repeat: L-E headline/story: "Local leaders vow to get city in rail plan" -- Guess they figure it's the only way to eventually get a Fall Line Trace extension to Atlanta and Macon when the railroads abandon the tracks in a few years.
---
L-E headline/story: "Alabama collects lowest tax of any state * The state has more than 25,000 inmates but only employees about 4,000 correctional workers." -- No wonder government can't figure out how to operate anything at reasonable costs. a 1 - to - 6 employee/inmate ration is even worse on the taxpayers as the teacher/student ratios in the other mandatory incarceration institution....education.
---
L-E headline/story: "Bowers: Dougherty cheating probe nearly complete, could effect 60 educators * ALBANY -- State investigators say as many as 10 principals and 50 teachers could be caught up in a cheating investigation in Dougherty County" -- Sadly, probably just the tip of the iceberg... Even sadder is that if this many are readily identifiable, how many other teachers knew and didn't report this to their principals? Ooops, they probably did. Sorta reminds us of the chain of events at Penn State.
---
Match.COM should really watch what and how it advertises. It's currently advertising "More Dates, More Relationships, More marriages". After this summer's event, some competitor may start adding on to that add with "More clients killed in Aruba on a long weekend".
---
L-E story: " The Mobile County school board said it is restarting its search for a new superintendent. * The board interviewed three finalists last week but couldn't agree on who to hire. * Board President Ken Megginson said the most important thing is to get the "correct person" in the superintendent's office. * The finalists are.. Dee Fowler...Ed Smith...and Marc Smith". -- I'd venture to say that all three of the 'finalists" have a pretty good lawsuit against the Mobile County School Board for libelous damage to their reputations and careers; or at least a claim of 'public humiliation'.
---
Speaking of government lawsuits, if the City of Columbus had simply had the State Attorney General file criminal charges against Expedia for not turning the proper tax amounts over to the state and city, then a civil suit following probably would be eith not necessary or a much easier route to follow... But did they do that? Nooooooooooo, because some lawyers wouldn't be able to get some judge to give'em the big bucks! The City of Columbus is worse off for letting this happen as it has happened.

Online headfline: "Obama Welcomes New Italian, Greek Governments" -- Whatta coincidence.. the new Italian and Greek governments will welcome a new US government soon!
---
Former US Senator and former Governor of New Jersey, John Corzine, a DIM&DUMBErat liberal icon, just bankrupted a private global financial company. This just confirms the inability, the ineptness of DIM&DUMBERat to be able to work with industry to create jobs other than spinmeisters
---
I guess potUS O'Blather's solution for "Occupy Wall Street" is to "Occupy Hawaii". Guess he can't handle the cold, but we also have seen that he can't handle the heat in the White House kitchen, either.
---
Why should any old school building be placed on an endangered or periled list? They get that way by neglect while in use because basic maintenance and repair are not important enough to be built into the budget.
---
After reading part of the unacted upon Grand Jury presentation of 1998 against Jerry Sandusky (After reading halfway through "Victim 2", I was too sick to read on), how could PENN State continue affiliation with Sandusky, and how could "Second Mile Foundation" be allowed to stay in existence?
---
If a convicted murderer hasn't ever filed an appeal, why hasn't the sentence been carried out swiftly?
---
Ever since that story about the local car dealer winning his case in Mobile because of another car dealership referring to his dealership as "Taliban Toyota", every time I drive by his dealership in Columbus, I think "Taliban Headquarter". Guess releasing the story locally has had unintended consequences.
---
Virginia Waddell passed. What a terrific lady. Unfortunately, it's a pattern that the L-E doesn't recognize the importance of celebrating the accomplishments made by pioneer family members, and the legacy they have left to the future of Columbus.

Online headline: "Shots Reportedly Fired Near The White House" -- Oooops, my bad. Thought potUS O'Blather had 'discharged' another Mid-East advisor.
---
Online headline: "Colin Powell: Occupy Movement 'As American As Apple Pie'' -- Yeah, one of those tasteless 'no sugar added' versions.
---
L-E headline: "Jordan Mill arsonist seeks lower sentence" -- Talk about p-poor timing.
---
L-E story: "Miami - By day, Wade B____ teaches American history at an A-rated Florida middle school. By night, he is a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness. -- In spite of his claim that he and his teacher wife have taken a combined $20,000.00 salary hit from wage freezes/cutbacks, any one who takes a second job as a 'personal trainer' to make up the difference puts too much emphasis on his vanity and the opportunity to parade around in spandex. Besides, how do middle school teachers have salaries that can be cut $10,000.00 a year on a cutback?
---
There's another 5-course/5 glasses of wine dinner being advertised next week. Hope every diner/winer has Police officer as a designated driver.
---
Eagle and Phenix Loft Condominiums are being advertised at $250.00 a square foot for units of only about a 1,000 square feet. You'd think they were located on the Gulf rather than the banks of 'one of Georgia's dirtiest rivers".

Online headline: "Top Obama Mid-East Adviser Departs White House" -- potUS O'Blather has had help in achieving Mid-East chaos?
---
The spell checker for AOL doesn't think "Obama" is spelled correctly and offers 16 possible replacement words: Baa, Bam, Badman, Bagman, Barman, Batman, Bema, Bamako, Brahma, Banal, Bwana, Banta, Baas, Balm, Barmaid, and Beam. Hmmm, AOL must have just copied the definition of "Obama" from a Muslim-to-English dictionary.
---
Online story: "Federal officials postponed a crucial permitting decision for the proposed Keystone XL pipeline Thursday afternoon, issuing plans to consider a new route for the project. The pipeline was proposed by Calgary-based TransCanada to link a vast oil patch in Alberta to refineries in Texas." -- You know, for an entirely different reason, I'm agreeing with the idea that why should we let Canada run a pipeline to Texas.. Either 'let' Canada build its own refinery, or allow US companies to drill American oil AND an American pipeline to Texas.
---
The students at Penn State just cut the legs out from under all the "Occupy Whatevers". Losing control over firing Joe Paterno's firing regarding his mishandling a tragic injustice just magnifies the misguided loss of values of the current generation.
---
L-E headline: "Attorney says man accused of child molestation has health issues" -- You can also assume that the attorney does, too.......mental! Who wants this 'man' back out in public?
---
L-E headline: "Occupy Fort Benning: Occupy movement, NAACP to join SOA Watch for annual protest" -- This will be a totally different aspect of "Occupy Anything". There is a new subdivision breakdown - 1%, 98%, 1%. Bourgeois and DuBose are in the separate 1% whackos category.
---
L-E "headlie": "After court reverses former Judge Doug Pullen's conviction, George Anderson gets choice of plea deal or trial" -- WRONG! Anderson was not convicted by Pullen; Anderson was convicted by a jury of his peers!
---
Online quote source: "Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out." - Stephen Covey -- Now we see why "effective" is not a descriptive word used with potUS O'Blather or the DIM&DUMBERat Party.
---
Somehow, and it will be a possibility, an SEC Championship Game between Texas A&M and Missouri would probably be 'TV blocked' from SEC states because no one in the original states would have any interest in buying a ticket or even watching it on TV.
---
Why should government jobs and programs be under a union umbrella? The private sector taxpayers who are funding the government jobs do not have guaranteed wage increases, do not have guaranteed annual revenue increases, nor have total/appealable job security despite ineptness in efficiency. Government job holder voters have been bought and paid for by the DIM&DUMBERats out of taxpayer pockets.

Thursday, November 10, 2011

L-E headline: "Columbus leaders insist city be on passenger rail line in first segment" -- What is actually going on here? With the advances in airlines and personal cars, railways lost their importance in people transportation. It was like what happened with stage coaches when the railways became the preferred form of distance travel. Hey, that's an idea..lets get the politicians fired up about stage coaches, another obsolete program that won't be profitable no matter who is running it. Better idea yet...lets fire the politicians who can't find a better way to spend/waste tax dollars....OUR tax dollars!
---
Point to ponder: If high speed railways were "the answer", why aren't the private companies best equipped to add such service (the railways, DOH!) already doing so?
---
Kudos, lots of kudos, for BCer, Gil McBride!
---
potUS O'Blather canceled a tax the Christmas Tree Growers wanted to assess all live Christmas tree consumers for ads promoting live Christmas trees versus fake ones. Don't get excited that potUS O'Blather actually found a tax he doesn't like, but he just doesn't want to look like he supports Christmas anything.
---
While I do not know this as first hand info, a fellow BCer mentioned that the Swift Mill had a fire suppressant system...until the current owners removed it. Anybody know anything about this?
---
L-E's "Thought for Today" : "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them. With Major Major it had been all 3." - From "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller (1923 - 1999) -- Something about this leapt off the page and said, "This is the perfect epitaph for VPOTUS Joe Biden!
---
L-E story: "A Russian spacecraft on its way to Mars with 12 tons of toxic fuel is stuck circling the wrong planet: ours. And it could come crashing back to Earth in a couple of weeks if engineers can't coax it back on track. * But most U.S. space debris experts think the fuel on board would explode harmlessly in the upper atmosphere and never reach the ground." -- Aside from the obvious bad grammar of starting two sentences in this story with conjunctions, I must conclude that "space debris experts" are "shovel ready jobs" created by potUS O'Blather, and it sure is getting deep. Wonder what Algore thinks about this...ooops, wrong premise, Algore doesn't think at all.
---
L-E "headlie": "Dems present offer to cut deficit by $2 trillion" -- WRONG! DIM&DUMBERats on the Super Committee don't want to admit they can work with Republican counterparts to cut federal spending, so they've proposed another $1 trillion in tax hikes on the 50% of Americans who already pay the bbulk of the current tax load.
---
BTW, I did get an answer, though it's somewhat cloudy as a reasonable explanation, from Councilor Thomas concerning the 8,000 variable between the figure used for redistricting and the Census 2010 figure.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

L-E story: "Dontrell D. S____ stepped into Mike’s Market Too with powder on his face and a wig on his head as he robbed the Veterans Parkway store with a butcher knife in August 2010. * Diagnosed with gender identity issues and elements of multiple personality disorder, Scott was charged with armed robbery and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. * He pleaded guilty Tuesday to the lesser charge of robbery and the weapons charge, and was sentenced by Superior Court C___ Judge John A____ to three years in prison, " -- Oh, great... Now he/she-it will get free medical assistance from the taxpayers to pay for his gender identity issues.
---
The new liquor law still doesn't allow ladies to have private brunches/luncheons with wine, nor afternoon bridal showers, or lunch time bridge parties UNLESS they are a member of a private country club or have a huge house. Pretty discriminating for most folks.
---
How much more does the American Jewish population plan to take the abuse of the DIM&DUMBERat leadership? How can the our president disrespect the leader of our only true Mid-East ally?
---
Well, as we get closer to election time, the DIM&DUMBERats are turning up the rhetoric about easing up or eliminating the Voter ID laws. Since the age of computers, I guess it's getting harder and harder to get driver's licenses renew for dead people.
---
Two 1500 year old Sequoias have fallen down on their own accord, and the Forest Rangers are at a loss on what to do. Guess it would be considered 'old growth foresting' to haul'em out or harvest the wood, so they are content, for now, to just let them lie where they lie, and block off access to the main trails through the park. California...it's time to just fall off into the Pacific and let new states enjoy the coastal features.
---
WTVM9 headline: "Chattahoochee River named one of the dirtiest in the state" -- So now we're broke and dirty... add in the UnderRiverWalk collapse and it hasn't been a very good week for Mayor Obamalinson.
---
Let's look at Herman Cain's attack from a simplistic angle. I'm sure he
and his advisors 'vetted' Herman Cain before his declaration to seek the Republican nomination. In these days and times, such a personal purge is necessary. Now considering the "deer in the headlights" response from Herman Cain, it's evident that these accusations/attacks/cheap shots were from his blindside. I really do think if he was 'guilty as claimed', he would have been armed and prepared with some pretty pat answers/responses.

Gloria Allred's 'clients' have made such a mockery of sexual harassment claims, that the public considers this one just another "crying wolf" situation, and has set real victim's situations back 100 years!

The real joke about potUS O'Blather's plaintive attempt at getting people to 'shovel ready' jobs is that those jobs were replaced by labor saving devices years ago. Just another example of how never having held a real job hinders his ability to recognize job opportunities.
---
It's really ridiculous if the Council and MCSD cannot or will not use a uniform set of district boundaries. Council should lead, and the MCSD should adopt those boundaries or pay (of course that would be using our tax dollars) the extra costs of all elections. BTW, no Council member or MCSD board member has answered the question of why the population figure used for redistricting is 8,000 less than the official Census number.

L-E story: "A title insurance company auditing the Columbus real estate law firm of Michael A. Eddings found “inappropriate transfers of funds” from an escrow account and “manipulation of records” in an initial investigation, according to new court documents. * Eddings, a well-known attorney and business owner who serves on a number of local boards, said Tuesday he cannot discuss the audit while it’s ongoing. He did, however, say he knows of no criminal investigation involving his finances." -- No wonder he's in trouble, his truthfulness appears to be in the same shambles as his accounting. This is the original 1% versus 99% protest. The 1% have to live with the other 99% giving them a bad reputation.
---
L-E "soundoff": "I live in downtown Columbus. We have excellent sidewalks. Yet = daily I see people walking down the road instead of using our good sidewalks. Are they blind or just arrogant?" -- It's probably because they don't want to get run over by bicyclists illegally riding on the sidewalks.

While looking up a detail, I was directed to Dick Michael's blog page. My main observation is that it is most appropriately named blog site, and the content from contributors confirms that it is a gathering place for them.

L-E headline: "Riverwalk collapse won't cause long delay for whitewater project * Collapse said to have ‘a couple of day’s impact’; whitewater project may absorb cost of repairs" -- "whitewater project MAY absorb cost"? Does that matter..."we" will be paying for it as it's primarily tax dollars and grants (more tax dollars) that are paying for it.
---
The collapsed section of the UnderRiverWalk may be the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Up on Bay Avenue, just outside the River Club, the CWW meter box has sunk completely below the sidewalk level, and the wall there has settled, both because of apparent deterioration of the ground beneath.
---
Of the list of Charter Review Commission proposals, this has got to be the dumbest: "
Allow city government employees who live elsewhere to run for office in their home counties. Currently they are barred from such political activity as long as they work for the city" -- If there needs to be any proposal regarding residents of out of county/state locations, how about one that bars any employee of the city, or school district for that matter, from living outside the confines of Muscogee County. Why should any public employee be impervious to the effects they have on local property taxes?
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court on Monday morning declined to hear a controversial death penalty case out of Texas * The death penalty case, Buck v. Thaler, attracted considerable attention in September when the justices stayed the execution of Duane Buck to consider whether they should hear his case. * Buck, who is black, argued that his right to a fair trial was violated when an expert witness testified that African Americans pose a greater risk of "future dangerousness." * But the expert "was a defense witness, and it was [Buck's] attorney, not the prosecutor, who first elicited Dr. Quijano's view regarding the correlation between race and future dangerousness." Accordingly, Buck's death sentence could not be thrown out based on evidence that his own lawyer put forward." -- Why was this even considered since it was Buck's attorney's witness? Thank God that this wasn't in Georgia! The Georgia Supreme Court would have ruled that this was "ineffective defense" and ordered another trial!

L-E's "Thought for Today" - "Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling." - Margaret Lee Runbeck, American author (1905 - 1956)" -- Will someone please carve this in the forehead of every DIM&DUMBERat politician so the truth will be apparent regardless of what their lips promise to voters.

It's just easier to use "circumstance" as an excuse than it is to use "circumstance" as an opportunity. It starts at the top and must penetrate the classroom. The MCSD board must demand this from the Superintendent, and the Superintendent must convey this to the teachers. Not accepting excuses is the best (if not only) way to make the changes that the students and community need.

The Daily Beast has hit on one nerve that politicians dread...Pride goeth befor the fall.

L-E headline: "Court reviews assisted suicide law" -- With some of the recent rulings that the GA Supreme Court gas made (like "ineffective counsel" as an excuse for retrials), perhaps some of the judges might consider this an opportunity to re-exam themselves.

By accident, I turned on the Kentucky-Morehouse basketball fiasco for a few minutes last night. It was 57-6 Kentucky with time left in the first half, and 3 3-point shots later, it was 66-6. While I'm sure Morehouse was devastated, it is Kentucky that was embarrassing to SEC basketball. With such a lead, Kentucky's coach should have called off the 'first person across the half court line shoot' offense, and taken this time to work on set plays/passing skills. I am not saying he should have stopped trying to score (that would have been even more embarrassing to Morehouse), but slowing the feeding frenzy would have been a way to develop character in his team.

Online headline/story: "Student Loans: The Next Bubble? * To be sure, there are some classic bubble warning signs: Everybody wants in. The idea that higher education is the only way to get ahead has become widely held. College enrollment has surged one-third in a decade. With rising demand, college tuition and fees have more than doubled over that time, outstripping inflation in every other major sector of the economy – energy, health care and housing, even when housing was bubbling itself. * Those bills are paid with borrowed money. The volume of outstanding student loans is rising rapidly and now exceeds credit card debt * The hard part, of course, is that a bubble is never apparent until it bursts. But the short answer is this: There are worrisome trends. A degree is an asset whose value can change over time. Borrowing to pay for it is risky, and borrowing is way up. The stakes are high. You can usually walk away from a house. Not so a student loan, which can't even be discharged in bankruptcy." -- No wonder those college students, especially the law/pre-law ones knowing they can't use their acquired skills to get rid of the debt.
---
One thing becoming all too apparent is the emphasis of universities to herd students into majors that lend themselves to be preparatory to more government supported jobs...teachers, artists, musicians, lawyers, and even police work. What the universities are failing at is teaching skills and dynamics of creating a new business.

Not sure why the L-E thinks the Wells-Fargo 13 was an "Occupy Something" event. There was a real one up the road, "Occupy Steeplechase Infield'.

Expect more of the UnderRiverWalk to collapse. There has already been structural damages cause by the flood waters pounding the steps that go down to the lower sections, and never, NEVER forget the giant "tarball" created by injecting more chemicals into the existing chemicals deep in the soil from years of improper handling of industrial waste.

From L-E story: "Mark Erb, 50, is a teacher at Columbus High School and a self-described liberal. * (Erb said) "There has to be some kind of across-the-board tax reform that encourages people to work and encourages people to invest to keep people working." * "I'm not sure if it's a capital gains tax change or an across-the-board income tax reform. There are too many people at the top who have too many loopholes. Although they are technically paying a higher rate, by the time they get done (sic) with all the loopholes, they're paying less than the average Joe in a lot of cases." -- Loopholes? Does he mean like Mortgage interest, or property tax deductions like he takes? Does he even know that "the average Joe" doesn't pay any income tax? And this guy is teaching our children... hope it's not a finance course.
---
L-E headline: "Northeast marks 8th day without power" -- Wonder if the power company consumers are agreeing with the power company spokesperson who said it would be too expensive to bury power cables versus repairing/replacing them after every snow storm? Bet that guy was in the Spokesperson Union who would be out of a job if there weren't downed lines for him to be a spokesperson about.
---
L-E headline: "U.S. wealth gap between young and old at its widest" -- Maybe that's because older people recognize the responisibility of being prepared for the future, versus living for the day, and spending more than they have coming in.

From the 'what are they thinking (or not doing so) department - L-E headlineMissouri to leave Big 12, join SEC" -- Like we don't have enough "Tigers" as it is? Can't you see student roadtrips to watch Florida or South Carolina play in Missouri...NOT! Can't you see Missouri fans scratching their heads (and other places) trying to figure out what a Dawg, Gamecock, Rebel Bear, Commodore, or Maroon is? And wait until some long term rivalries become home-n-home affairs off-n-on every 2 years.

Online headline: "2012 Presidential Race Expected To Be Close And Brutal" -- And lethal, too, when you consider how many dead people are registered to vote.

From another BCer, this is a synopsis of a longer version of Christmas gift options. Instead of buying a gift made in China or other parts of the world, buy and give gift certificates to small business service companies such as local restaurants, Spa/Hair Salons, car washes, golf courses, oil changes, even cleaning services for your mom, daughter, wife. Be creative and promote local businesses. It's an idea that's timely.

I did get a response from a MCSD board member about when the board would publicly address the urgency of paring down the SPLOST projects to fit the decrease in expected revenues from the SPLOST tax.... February 2012. I don't think that's good enough or soon enough to keep projects from being partly finished when the money stops coming in. Call or e-mail your representatives and get them to act on the revenue shortfall now!

L-E story: "Sonora, Calif. - A 65-foot white fir tree selected as the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree was cut down and removed from a picturesque setting in the Sierra Nevada Mountains..." -- Bet Boehner will catch every liberal loony's rath about this. The story is written in a manner to catch the attention of every fringe liberal group from tree-huggers, anti-old-growth forest preservers, PETA, Robert Redford's Sierra Club, as well as Sharpton & Jackson, and Pelosi & Reid.

L-E story: "Atlanta - Georgia's secretary of state (Brian Kemp) says the state's new law targeting illegal immigration could delay professional licenses. * A provision of the law that takes effect Jan. 1 requires people applying for public benefits, which include professional licenses, to prevent (sic) a "secure and verifiable" form of identification" -- I'm sure the law says to 'present' rather than 'prevent' a "secure and verifiable" form of identification, BUT why hasn't that been the case from the git-go? I would think that the secretary of state would have always demanded a 'secure and verifiable' form of identification before issuing any professional license to anyone!
---
L-E headline: "Will Biden be replaced on the Obama ticket in 2012?" -- I don't think that that is really the issue, as neither will be back, but the real issue is whether Hillary will replace potUS O'Blather on the top of the ticket.

L-E's "Thought for Today": "The illiterate of the future will not be the person who cannot read. It will be the person who does not know how to learn." - Alvin Toffler, American writer-futurist (1928 - )." -- What a nightmare it must be for Toffler to live to see the product of the education system and the DIM&DUMBERat Party.

Will someone please address the fact that the figure used in redistricting is about 8,000 less than the recently completed 2010 Census. For the 8 districts that aren't 'at-large' in either the Council or MCSD elections, that means 1,000 people per district are missing or otherwise unaccounted for.

With the quantity of Republican candidates clamoring for attention in the debate venues, wouldn't it be good if the candidates voted to have 1 issue be the focus of each debate so questions could be answered in sentences instead of sound bites?

Online headline: "Young Voters' Enthusiasm For Obama Drops" -- Naturally, of course. Online headline: "Solyndra Subpoena Rejected By Obama Administration " -- potUS O'Blather's chief counsel says sending all documents/e-mails that mention Solyndra in any way is to broad to comply with, and that the subpoena should be narrower in demand. Huh? How can the Committee request be more direct than to only ask for messages containing the word Solyndra?
---
L-E headline: Dimon Kendrick-Holmes: Muscogee Countys Title I schools far behind rest of the state in AYP" -- The answer is quite simple. It's much easier to blame the students' economic plight as being the excuse for mediocre results than it is for the school system to take a positive role in showing those students that getting the most out of their education is the ticket to success.

Second Avenue has another major pothole exposing the old brick roadbed underneath. X-POTUS Clinton's new book says potUS O'[Blather's inept handling of the debt ceiling made him look "weak and confused" to overseas leaders. Hmmm, that's about as good as it will get for potUS O'Blather compared as to how American voters perceive him now.

L-E headline: "UPDATE: The Daily Beast stands by 'Brokest' story; Tomlinson says story is misleading" -- Well, so is the civil case against Expedia...misleading, that is. Why wasn't the situation just turned over to the State Attorney General on the basis that either Expedia wasn't collecting the proper taxes it is charged with doing so, or that Expedia was collecting taxes from end users, and not turning the tax revenue over to the GA Department of Revenue? The answer: Private lawyers couldn't make money on the deal. Besides, threat of jail time is pretty persuading.

Bicycling is wonderful, but why should a leisure time hobby be more important than a motorist going to-and-from work? I used to be an avid bicyclist, even have a trip to Panama City Beach under my belt, but I learned the rules of the road, accepted that cars/trucks are bigger than me and would hurt me more than I would hurt them if we collided, and rode accordingly. Most people get on their bikes without ever reading the rules/laws and responsibilities that are in place.

L-E headline/story: "Large asteroid coming close to earth * We're extremely confident, 100 percent confident. that this is not a threat, said the manager of NASA's Near Earth Object Program, Don Yeomans." -- Excuse me, but when have you ever been assured, even reassured, when a government spokesperson says the government has anything 100% under control?

Online headline: "Average Student Debt Hits Record High in 2010: $25,250" -- Just goes to show how ill prepared the average high school graduate is in understanding finances, and how susceptible these grads are to being swayed into loans for degrees that are easy to get but no guarantee of getting a job that can give them a salary that will pay off the loans in a reasonable time.
---
Occupy Atlanta needs to focus on what it is it's protesting about. Because of the changes in HOPE scholarships, the GA legislature ponied up a $10,000,000.00 'loan pool' for students. Students have asked for $26,000,000.00 worth. What the legislature needs to do is cut college/university expenses. Look locally; Dr Mescon is paid $300,000.00 to rule over 8,000 +/- students who actually want to be in school. On the other hand, Dr Andrews of the MCSD rules over 32,000 student who may or may not have any interest at being at school except for social interests, and she's paid less than $200,000.00.
---
Have you ever thought about how appropriate Dr Mescon's name is for him. From what we've seen and heard, he's made quite a 'Mess' and pretty much a 'conman'.
---
There's actually a story in the L-E about the U of Alabama being in the "Top 10" schools reguarding male physical fitness; no mention at all about their mental fitness. I thought students went to college to get an academic education, not a lifestyle. Guess this explains the spa on the CSU campus better than logic does. Writers note: From being in the center of the CSU River Campus daily, it's obvious that the male students in the Music School do not use the main campus spa facility.

The karaoke night features cash prizes, a cash bar and entertainment from Foxie 105's DJ Chip. Free. -- How is this permitable under local and Georgia law? This constitutes a pop-up nightclub, and no private venue can do this. If it's legal to do it at the Trade Center, then it should be legal to do anywhere.

Online headline: Biblical Blunder At White House After Obama Said God Wants Jobs Bill" -- Maybe he was thinking about either the Book of Allah from the Quran, or A Marx quote from the Communist Manifesto?

From above story: "I believe the phrase from the Bible is, `The Lord helps those who help themselves,'" (Jay) Carney said * A White House transcript of (Jay) Carney's briefing issued later in the day included the disclaimer: "This common phrase does not appear in the Bible." -- I'll bet potUS O'Blather reports that his jobs bill created the job Carney has.... you guessed it.. the only "shovel ready" job that was actually shovel ready...watch where you step.

Like I said yesterday, the Daily Beast probably wanted to come to Columbus to check facts, but couldn't book a hotel through Expedia, so the "Beast" assumed Columbus was poor or hotel-less. Wonder how many other prospective companies looking to build here have been turned off by not being able to book a hotel through Expedia?

Getting jurors who don't read the newspaper seems implausible. Do we want jurors that are simply uninformed of the issues at all, or jurors that may have read the L-E and may have been misinformed?
---
It's probably not so much the fault of the school system in itself, but when administration primes students for failure by generating excuses rather than raising expectations, the kids and teachers lose. If you keep telling a child that he/she can't do something for themselves because they are poor/disadvantaged, then it doesn't take long for the child to believe that. If the administration and teachers were focused on showing how a child could elevate him/herself by attaining a good education, the cycle would stop.
---
From a like story in the L-E about Spencer High, there is a picture. Below is the actual caption. I pity the school with which the L-E is a "PIE" sponsor or schools that use the L-E for reading/news. Read the caption...the L-E cannot even get the noun/verb matched.

---
A L-E article says NY doesn't bury its power cables because it's so expensive. Well, how expensive is it compared to rewiring/repairing the above ground cables every time it snows? How expensive is it for the customers to recover from several outage days? This is a union concession to keep more men working.

L-E headline: "Columbus dealer big winner in "Taliban Toyota" lawsuit" -- Well up until today, anyway. Now, no one who drives by, or pulls in, will not be able to not think about "Taliban Toyota". What's worse is that someone is going to come up with a worse nickname for his Nissan operation.. maybe "N*z* Nissan". Oh, there may be 12 or so who did not read about it in the L-E; they're serving on a jury downtown.

Another one bites the dust.... another energy company, Beacon Power Corporation in Massachusetts, which received a $39 Million dollar loan from the same program that furnished over 1/2 a BILLION dollars to Solyndra, has gone belly-up. What's sad is not that these companies have gone bankrupt, but the moral bankruptcy of the DIM&DUMBERat Washington, D.C. element that gave them our money.

After reading Chuck Williams' column today, I do have to agree with 'mccombsgrad's' assessment of Mescon, as I have had dealings with the man that more than confirm the angst he has created with the CSU faculty, and now I learn that his wife is leading an effort to give deadbeat and walk-away fathers more legal rights here in Georgia. I will buy the one-way bus tickets out of Columbus for both of them.

WTVM9 headline: "After 3 World Series titles, La Russa retires" -- Talk about rubbing salt into the Rasmus' wounds. I usually don't comment on Alabama news because so much of it is to incredible to waste my time analyzing it, BUT a L-E story caught my eye - "Montgomery, Ala. - Some of the more than 1,000 teachers expected to retire Ddec 1 to avaoid higher health insurance costs could end up back in the classroom through the end of the school year. * Under the state's retirement rules, teachers can go ahead with plans to retire Dec 1 and stay out of their classrooms for the month of December, which is a short month due to the Christmas and New Year's holiday break. Then they can suspend their retirement and return to their classrooms Jan 1 on temporary teaching contracts through the end of the school year." -- Let'em retire and hire new teachers that aren't milking the system for all they can! I just pray we don't have this same idiocy/lunacy in the GA teachers' retirement rules.

A few of months ago, I suggested to the MCSD that now would be a good time to publicly review the SPLOST projects list, and start culling, or at least re-prioritizing the projects to reflect the reality that the SLOST revenues would be greatly short of the pie-in-the-sky estimate of receiving nearly $225 Million over the 5 year life-span of the SPLOST. Haven't seen one course correction, and it's approaching the end of the 3rd year. Columbus will suffer if planning for the worst-case-scenario is left until the last minute.
