Thinking about it more, I have come to the conclusion that Eddings actually may be pretty smart. His claim shifts the investigation away from him, and neither he or his wife can be made to testify against each other. Of course, if his wife gets convicted, all bets on Eddings future are off.

More has been revealed about Trayvon Martin's expulsions from school that was not immediately released. We were told the expulsion was based on Martin having a baggie with marijuana residue in his bookbag. What we weren't told is he had a dozen pieces of unexplained women's jewelry, and a large screw driver/pry bar, too, plus he'd vandalized a door. Previous suspensions had been given for excessive absences/tardiness. He was on a current 10 day suspension when shot. This is not the innocent child the media wants us to believe.

Yesterday's thoughts of moving the Confederate Cannon down to Woodruff Park may be too out there for most, but how about wheeling down the cannon from Cannon Brew Pub this Sunday? The noise will be more in line with the dam "poof", and Cannon Brew Pub could wheel down a few kegs of beer also to make the event more palatable. Ooops, my bad...probably can't sell beer on CSU property.

The painting was framed from Phenix City of the Eagle & Phenix condominium development which the residents pay almost nothing in property taxes to support our CPD and CFD. The City's solution to closing the old landfill by the Chattahoochee is to lace together cement 'mattresses' to cover the bank of the river, and it looks awful. The Whitewater group is using those same type of 'mattresses' to alter water flow in the Chattahoochee... they'll look awful as well. Sorta reminds me of when the City built a retaining wall of used tires down at Lakebottom Park to try to prevent erosion. So much for government solutions.

The City's solution to closing the old landfill by the Chattahoochee is to lace together cement 'mattresses' to cover the bank of the river, and it looks awful. The Whitewater group is using those same type of 'mattresses' to alter water flow in the Chattahoochee... they'll look awful as well. Sorta reminds me of when the City built a retaining wall of used tires down at Lakebottom Park to try to prevent erosion. So much for government solutions.

Report the damages of convoys of loaded dump trucks tearing up 2nd Avenue, or a J R Allen exit/entry ramp that has far too many wrecks and a fatal crash, and the DOT will investigate, call for some sort of study, and then disappear, BUT report a sign or billboard being obstructed by a tree, and the DOT will be there the next day.

Parents at Beaver Ridge Elementary School in Norcross, Ga., were outraged after students were sent home with math word problems using explicit examples of slavery." -- Two questions come immediately to mind: Do the teachers not review the preprinted problem sheets they assign their students, and doesn't the local school system have an approved resources list for vendors? Regardless of the answers, the teacher(s) who hand out such, and the school systems's curriculum department should be immediately fired (versus reassignment).

A former Columbus banker has a unit assessed at $324,378.00 and paid a total of $27.08 in property tax last year. One unit is assessed at $1,332,812.00 and paid only $388.81 last year. Others, including some of the developers, have purchased units while maintaining another home using the homestead exemption break reserved for primary residences. This law needs to be revised, as only the affluent can get such tax breaks.

Ilya Sheyman, a 25-year-old community activist, was defeated by businessman Brad Schneider, who will now face Rep. There's nothing about HOPE that wouldn't make it a true benefit IF the deciding factor of eligibility (outside being a GA resident/student AND an American citizen) were based on a student's SAT /ACT scores versus locally determined standards for a 3.0 GPA or higher. It's become even more obvious than before that way too many (a few is too many) remedial classes are needed to get students up to minimum skills once they get to colleges.

From my observation, no one candidate won the AL-MS primaries. The voters seemed pretty split as to the platform message they want to see the candidate representing the Republican Party start working on. I hope the top 3 hang in all the way until Tampa, if necessary, in order for 1 of the 3 to hone in on what the unified voters want.

Yesterday, driving my daughter's car, I noticed she needed gasoline, pronto. Dropped her off at school, and purposely drove down Macon Rd to get gas. That's exactly why I use my debit card, so I don't have to see the attendant inside!. Pulled out and went to the Shell Station... same story; I left again. Went to another Shell Station down Wynnton Road, Same thing only this time I went in and told the attendant I wasn't going to buy any gas because I use my debit card so I don't have to come in!. Continued east to a Texaco, and they accepted unfettered use of my debit card. I'll probably go out of my way to go back there next time I'm on that side of town and need gasoline.

Yesterday, driving my daughter's car, I noticed she needed gasoline, pronto. Dropped her off at school, and purposely drove down Macon Rd to get gas. That's exactly why I use my debit card, so I don't have to see the attendant inside!. Pulled out and went to the Shell Station... same story; I left again. Went to another Shell Station down Wynnton Road, Same thing only this time I went in and told the attendant I wasn't going to buy any gas because I use my debit card so I don't have to come in!. Continued east to a Texaco, and they accepted unfettered use of my debit card. I'll probably go out of my way to go back there next time I'm on that side of town and need gasoline.

She said she and her friends don’t see themselves staying in Columbus for college or after college because of a lack of entertainment options. * “Not that we don’t have enough to do, but not enough that our parents would want us to do,” (the student) said, drawing a laugh from the crowd. “We want something that’s safe, supervised and, of course, low cost, because we’re students.” -- What student doesn't want 'state of the art' entertainment that someone else pays for? What's wrong with getting a teen job and EARNING her entertainment money. No business can provide such without being profitable. When was the last time you saw a teen walking house to house with a lawn mower asking to cut your lawn or setting up a baby-sitting group?

" -- What about the rights of other students, and the parents of those students, to keep their innocence a few more years! Another case of the 99% of lawyers ruining the reputations of the other 1%.

" -- That's about what it should be based on percentages, of course you can throw those percentages to the wind when it comes to blacks serving time for criminal activities, and wouldn't we be much better off if that were the situation. With an attitude like Clingman's, he almost implies that whites should do same, and that would really sink non-white owned businesses.

On the median in the 1000 block of Broadway is an art piece (courtesy of the Thompson-Pound project) labeled "Peace Pylon" and is covered with various peace symbols and words from the diversity of creeds. religions, and races in Columbus. You would think it would have been constructed out of more durable materials, or at least paid attention to more often because it is rapidly deteriorating.
