WRBL3 story: "“I don't want people to come out and march because of black and white, I want you to come out and march because of injustice.” * "We are all Trayvon Martin" * "It could have been me. It could have been any of these guys." -- In a word, Wrong!

L-E headline/story: "Eurozone agrees to $1 trillion bailout * LONDON — The 17 nations of the eurozone agreed Friday to increase their bailout resources in an attempt to keep a lid on the debt crisis that has hobbled the region’s economy and raised doubt about the future of the euro. " -- Excuse me, but when 'debt' is the problem, how does increasing that 'debt' by a TRILLION Dollars improve things?

With his record of escapes form his jail, Sheriff Heath Taylor should reconsider whether he keeps his name plastered on the sides of all the RC Sheriff's Department vehicles. Come election time, his name recognition may not be a positive.

Don't let today's hoopla about the whitewater rapids get you too excited... With less than half the dam being removed, that 8,000 CFS is actually more like 16,000+ CFS since all the water is being channeled into a smaller space. Sorta like when you twist a hose nozzle to increase pressure to wash off your car.

Online headline: "Controversial Apple Factories Reportedly Violated Labor Laws" -- Ah-so...according to fractured 'fortune cookie' saying, 'The fruit doesn't fall fat from the "Charlie Tree". (For those under 40 or suffering from 'senior moments', Charlie Tree was the Chinese 'agent' who raised illegal millions in Chinese donations to the Clinton election campaign)

Online headline: "Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton Will Run In 2016 " -- Isn't that what I predicted last month when she was talking about 'not running' if potUS O'Blather won re-election, 'because' she wouldn't want to interfere with VPoTUS Biden-Biden's running in 2016? I personally felt (and still do) she was telling her backers to abandon O'Blather this fall which would set her up to run in 2016..

Charles Barkley is seeming mimicking Dennis Rodman's career downfall. Barkley is donning a dress for a Weight Watchers ad. As bad as Rodman looked, Barkley doesn't look any better.
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON -- Legislation introduced by Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) on Thursday included a litany of measures aimed at boosting income for low-wage workers, most notably raising the minimum wage significantly and pegging it to inflation. * The bill would also require employers to offer their workers paid sick days, make more white-collar workers eligible for overtime pay that they're currently exempted from, and give more workers the right to join a union." -- Just proves how little the DIM*DUMBERats know about job creation, and whether or not any teens ever get a part time job.
---
Talk about manipulating facts.... Have you seen the mainstream media account of a security video of George Zimmerman as he was taken in to the jail (in cuffs ala normal police procedure) ? Various reporters/anchors stated that the video was from 'shortly' afterwards to 'just minutes' following the incident. Truth was (and is still) that Zimmerman was transported to the jail facility only after the field investigation was made, AND after the EMTs had seen to, treated and cleaned up Zimmerman's injuries. What are we talking about in time for that ...a hour or more at a minimum?
---
As to the above: It's hard to believe that no crime scene investigator didn't take photos of Zimmerman at the time.
---
Online quote source: "True satisfaction comes from getting the job done. ---
L-E headline: "Animal rights activists attack city over pit bull Elijah" -- Just demonstrates PETA is as bare in its factualness as PETA protesters are bare in demonstrations. Just proves the old adage about not getting between a 'bare cub' and a 'mama bare'.
---
L-E story: "A CSU student who lives downtown was robbed over the weekend just blocks away from his home. * The 23-year-old student was near Eighth Street and Second Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he was approached by two suspects. The student was threatened with a knife and robbed of a $600 Louis Vuitton wallet, a $700 iPad and a $400 Tiffany necklace, reports state." -- Any one, especially a 23 year old man/student, being in that area at that time with those items probably needs a remedial class in reality.
---
Tomorrow at 10:00, there's a protest/march/demonstration planned outside the Bradley Theater building on Broadway. Why that location? If such a mob wants to bring attention to itself, why not just meet at the Courthouse or a TV station parking lot. A nice downpour about 10:00 AM tomorrow would be most appropriate.
---
Remember the principal at Rigdon Road School who was showered with attention because all her student passed the tests? Remember her sudden mid-semester departure/dismissal as irregularities surfaced? Lets not forget (or rewrite the history of the past)!
---
It's almost sick, that the states involved in the Mega Millions lottery are praying (is that legal?) that the winner will be from their state so they will get a big tax payday from the lump sum distribution.

VPoTUS Biden is at it again...this time referring to Dr Teresa Paper, president of Scott Community College in Davenport Iowa as "Dr. Pepper". Wonder if he looked to see if she was sitting in a wheel chair before asking her to stand up? Wish the media would ask him how to spell "potato/potatoe". He'd probably spell out "put-a-toe-in-my-mouth"..again.
---
Why didn't the L-E report the above Biden gaffe? Have Biden's gaffes become so commonplace the L-E no longer thinks they are 'news'?

While 400K per month 'first time unemployment seekers' is a bad number, what makes '359K first time unemployment seekers' a good number?

If potUS O'Blather wants more people to have insurance, then get rid of making doctors and hospitals having to give non-life-threatening medical treatments to those without medical insurance or money to pay for such. Also, mandate that hospital charge only for services rendered, versus placing a blanket procedure number on all similar situations and computing costs based on what every service could possibly be billed for.

L-E headline: "NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. * 100 NEW JOBS COMING WITH NCR EXPANSION * Company to open second Columbus plant in former Cessna building" -- It's an absolute shame that CB&T/Synovus can't share the success. NCR's obvious success makes CB&T/Synovus's buying ATMs from a foreign manufacturer seem even more suspect.
---
Protesting injustice is the right thing to do. It's what American patriots have always done. Doing so based on personal emotion versus facts is not protesting injustice; it's mob mentality, and should be treated as such.

Online story: "WASHINGTON -- Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) was thrown off the House floor Wednesday after wearing a hoodie and sunglasses in protest of the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida. * "Racial profiling has to stop," Rush said as he peeled off his suit jacket to reveal a hoodie underneath, at which point he pulled the hood over his head and replaced his glasses with sunglasses. "Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum." -- Probably not, but being an Illinois Democrat sorta removes all doubt.
---
The 'new' Black Panthers have posted a $10,000.00 "Dead or Alive" bounty on George Zimmerman. Not only should the US District Attorney issue an immediate arrest for all 'new' Black Panthers involved, potUS O'Blather needs to offer a new "Big F****** Deal t-shirt denouncing the 'new' Black Panthers.

A few weeks ago I criticized, even sympathized, with Michael Eddings blaming all the financial irregularities of his legal escrow accounts squarely on his wife. Thinking about it more, I have come to the conclusion that Eddings actually may be pretty smart. His claim shifts the investigation away from him, and neither he or his wife can be made to testify against each other. Of course, if his wife gets convicted, all bets on Eddings future are off.

An 81 year old Chicago tavern owner was arrested after he shot a burglar in his home in the back of his tavern. He was arrested, not because he shot the burglar, but because he was a convicted felon and not allowed to own/possess a gun. I'm wondering how a convicted felon qualified for the licenses required to own a tavern..

More has been revealed about Trayvon Martin's expulsions from school that was not immediately released. We were told the expulsion was based on Martin having a baggie with marijuana residue in his bookbag. What we weren't told is he had a dozen pieces of unexplained women's jewelry, and a large screw driver/pry bar, too, plus he'd vandalized a door. Previous suspensions had been given for excessive absences/tardiness. He was on a current 10 day suspension when shot. This is not the innocent child the media wants us to believe.
---
Here is very important quest for immediate discussion. Why...why are the media and national black leaders so driven to make the Florida teen's death such a racial issue?
---
One of the online Christian newsletters really nailed its description of the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton. Their rush to blame, condemn, and convict people long before all the evidence is revealed truly makes them "race hustlers". potUS O'Blather fits this description as well, but not under the banner of a reverend.
---
What an appropriate and timely quote cite: "If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair." - C. S. Lewis " -- Of course, neither Jackson or Sharpton are looking for the truth or comfort.

Is it just me, or do you think it's dignified, appropriate, for our president to enter a conference of World leaders with a mouth full of gum and mimicking a cow chewing cud? It's certainly not a pretty thought to even think about, but even uglier to actually see.

29 judges have signed the recall petition to remove Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. The ones that will talk about it don't consider it "political"! This is a major 'what's wrong' with our legal system... judges that make judgements based on personal politics versus the law. What's even sadder is that this info was made public by some of the 2 dozen or so Gannett reporters who ALSO signed the petition. How can Gannett be trusted to present the news in a fair manner?

Sam Olens says Mayor Obamalinson's assessment of the tax freeze laws are right. Whether she's right or wrong is not as big an issue as the tax situation at the Eagle & Phenix Condominiums. Million dollar properties are paying less than $400.00 (below the new minimum service fee being discussed, about $20,000 or more less in taxes that a similar property not covered by special legislation). Owners who live there can buy a parking space in the new parking garage adjacent to the E & P, and actually pay more in property tax on the parking spots than on their qualifying condo purchase next door.

Online headline: "Latest Turn in John Edwards Trial" -- Do you really care?

Looks like there is a new aspect to the Zimmerman story, that, if true, makes potUS O'Blather, Al Sharpton, and Columbus' own '100 Black men in hoodies' guilty of racism and profiling.
---
The killing of a 19 year old in the wee hours of Sunday AM after a night of nightclubbing just emphasizes the need of alcohol serving establishments to have to use the already available driver's license checking devices.

Online story: "SEOUL, March 26 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama was caught on camera on Monday assuring outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev he will have "more flexibility" to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election. * Obama, during talks in Seoul, urged Moscow to give him "space" until after the November ballot, and Medvedev said he would relay the message to incoming Russian president Vladimir Putin." -- potUS O'Blather....how about a new t-shirt about this...This is a REAL Big F---ing Deal!
---
From L-E story: "(Dale) Hester was found to have been using free or complimentary tickets practically as currency around town, taking many more tickets than the standard city contracts call for. " -- Then the investigation is not over! Hester should be charged and arrested for theft, fraud, property conversion, and the results turned over to IRS, and in addition, recipients of such 'barter' should be charged with receiving stolen property. In addition, Hester's pension should be revoked.

If alternative energy can ever be a real answer, then potUS O'Blather should first find an alternative fuel for Air Force 1 before flying again.

L-E story: "It’s a question making the rounds in Selma since earlier this month, when a bronze bust of Confederate Gen. Na-than Bedford Forrest vanished from atop a 7-foot-tall granite monument at Live Oak Cemetery. * Attorney Faya Rose Toure, the most vocal Forrest critic in Selma, said she didn’t have anything to do with the disappearance, but she is happy it happened and even volunteered to defend the guilty party or parties — if caught — “free of charge.” * “Jews would not tolerate a statue of Hitler in their neighborhood and what they put up in our neighborhood back then was pretty much the same thing,” Toure said. “Descendants of those who enslaved us insist on honoring someone with Klan connections.” -- While I agree in a sense, the hypocrisy of DIM&DUMBERats still amazes me. These are the same people who honored, even revered, former Klansman Senator Robert Byrd of WV.

Online story: "FRANKSVILLE, Wis. — An agitated Rick Santorum on Sunday called Mitt Romney "the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama" even as it appears the former Massachusetts governor is on pace to clinch the party's nomination in June. * Santorum later lashed out at reporters, using a profane word as he accused them of "distorting" his speech." -- I made a comment last week that Santorum was sounding like the DIM&DUMBERat Howard Dean; this makes me wonder if Santorum took my comment to heart.
---
Online story on Trayvon Martin: "Gingrich took exception with Obama's comments during a radio interview later on Friday, saying they were "disgraceful." * "It's not a question of who that young man looked like," he said. "Any young American of any ethnic background should be safe, period. We should all be horrified, no matter what the ethnic background. Is the president suggesting that, if it had been a white who'd been shot, that would be OK, because it wouldn't look like him? That's just nonsense." * President Barack Obama's Senior Adviser David Plouffe called former House Speaker Newt Gingrich's comments on the shooting of Trayvon Martin "reprehensible" on Sunday, saying they came from a man who was "clearly in the last throes of his political career." * Santorum said on Friday that the president should "not use these types of horrible and tragic individual cases to try to drive a wedge in America." * Plouffe called both Gingrich and Santorum's remarks "irresponsible," adding, "I think those comments were really hard to stomach, really, and I guess trying to appeal to people's worst instincts." -- It was potUS O'Blather's main point to make this a racial incident, which, like the "beer summit" involving the white Cambridge policeman and the black Harvard professor was irresponsible & disgraceful. No president should be involved in editorializing his biases/opinion before all the evidence has been calmly evaluated and presented in a responsible manner. potUS O'Blather has just fanned the flames to make sure the hatred embers do not die out in his voter base.
---
Passed on by a fellow BCer: The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food-stamps ever. * Meanwhile, the Park Service, asks us "please do not feed the animals" because the animals will grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

WRBL-3 story: "An off-duty officer working security downtown discovered the 19-year-old victim just after one o’clock Sunday morning, lying on the sidewalk at 12th street and Broadway suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. * Friends of the victim say Coleman, who has a one-year-old son, worked part-time at a KFC in Phenix City where he lived, but liked to go out and may have been at a nightclub with a group of people before he was shot." -- When will the GA Legislature mandate that bars and nightclubs use a driver's license testing machine to ferret out fake ID's? You know that our licenses are checked for validity at the voting precincts, why not at any place that serves/sells alcohol?
---
Why are the media and the omnipresent 'black leaders' trying so hard to make the Trayvon Martin shooting entirely a racial issue? Every mention of George Zimmerman describes that his father was white and his mother was Latina, as though Zimmerman's crime was caused by one of races his parents are. Does a potUS O'Blather description ever include his father was black and his mother was white, or is Tiger Woods defined as being the son of a black man and an Asian mother?
---
If the blasting crew at the Eagle & Phenix dam site are so interested in 'safety', why don't they wear flotation vests when walking out on the dam to inspect it or plant explosives into it?
---
L-E headline: "Public, private factions cooperate to compete for federal grant for neighborhood revitalization * Columbus is one of 30 cities up for grant, which would provide up to $150K for revitalization " -- Why is it that 'government' thinks sinking money it extrapolates from taxpayer pockets into decaying neighborhoods is a good use of tax dollars? We see these attempts time after time (even MidTown Mayor Obamalinson forced us to pay for a referendum to reject her attempt to use tax dollars for personal resident renovations (TADs)), yet the only successful projects are made when the private sector recognizes when an area has reached 'the bottom' and it has a chance to be a profitable rehab project. Pouring money, especially tax dollars, into a decaying area does nothing but temporarily slow down the inevitable.

Online headline: "Cheney Receives Heart Transplant" -- Don't you know that DIM&DUMBERats are disappointed, both to learn Cheney had a heart, but now has a new one? Latest from barackobama.com: "Obamacare means never having to worry about getting sick and running up against a lifetime cap on insurance coverage. It gives parents the comfort of knowing their kids can stay on their insurance until they're 26, and that a "pre-existing condition" like an ear infection will never compromise their child's coverage. * It's about ending the practice of letting insurance companies charge women 50 percent more -- just because they're women. * And Obamacare can save seniors hundreds of dollars a year on prescription drugs -- and gives them access to preventive care that is saving their lives. * President Obama never lost sight of the fact that this reform is about people. People like his own mother, who spent the last years of her life fighting cancer -- and fighting with insurance companies, too." -- Of course, potUS O'Blather isn't telling them that HELL-thScare is not free, and that costs have doubled already, and it's not in force...yet...hopefully, it won't be...ever!
---
From L-E story: "Again, if the crew conducting the demolition sees anyone at a window -- in an office, a parking garage or a residence overlooking the blast site -- the explosion will be postponed until the observer moves away, because of the risk of flying debris, Hawk said. Spectators at windows and atop a parking garage nearly delayed Wednesday's blast." -- "Spectators at windows and atop a parking garage nearly delayed Wednesday's blast". Huh? Wednesday's 'poof' went off nearly 30 minutes before the announced time, and before a lot more people got there. How much earlier were "they" going to set the charges off?
---
From above story: "Today's Eagle & Phenix dam blast is to be bigger and earlier than Wednesday's, with the 13th Street bridge and surrounding streets closing by 9:30 a.m. or earlier, authorities said." -- Guess some preacher's sermon may get his point across with a "bang".

Susan Andrews is being credited with getting the last SPLOST passed, and she doesn't attempt to dissuade any one about it, yet she's bailing out before the truth of the matter comes to light that the SPLOST projections will be well under funding 'her projects', and that neither she nor the next Superintendent will be able to get a new SPLOST passed to finish 'her projects'. Maybe her pension should be escrowed and applied to the SPLOSTR shortages.

The report on State Corruption lost it's credibility when it gave Illinois a "C". Illinois is a state with 2 former governors now sitting in jail, not because they were doing anything different than other governors, but they lost favor of their party's committee, and the media was turned loose on them.

It was bad enough for a US Vice President to utter "this is a Big F***ing Deal" over a live microphone during an official White House announcement of the DIM&DUMBERat Congress passing the unread "HELL-thScare Bull", but now potUS O'Blather is selling campaign t-shirts with "Healthcare - Still a BFD" printed on them. Now, I want to see him and his wife, and both daughters wearing those shirts every day until he's booted out of office!

Why is it that Life Insurance has gone down as much as 60% in recent years, yet potUS O'Blather's HELL-thScare Bull has caused health care insurance premiums to double in the last two years?

Yesterday's thoughts of moving the Confederate Cannon down to Woodruff Park may be too out there for most, but how about wheeling down the cannon from Cannon Brew Pub this Sunday? The noise will be more in line with the dam "poof", and Cannon Brew Pub could wheel down a few kegs of beer also to make the event more palatable. Ooops, my bad...probably can't sell beer on CSU property.

Online story: "NEW YORK -- Undercover NYPD officers attended meetings of liberal political organizations and kept intelligence files on activists who planned protests around the country, according to interviews and documents that show how police have used counterterrorism tactics to monitor even lawful activities." -- After watching the Occupy Wherever brigades operate, what's the difference between lawful in a liberal's eye, and a terrorist movement in a liberal's eye?
---
Has anyone taken a measurement of the fifty foot breaching of the dam? Going over to the Phenix City side for a better look, and it looks like no more than 25' or 30' max was actually cleared. Either that, or the river is about twice as wide as reported.

Government and School boards try mighty hard to push God and Jesus out, but bringing God and Jesus into our prisons is working out for the good of the community and the tortured souls in prison. Support our Chattahoochee Jail Ministry. Cash, clothing, and your prayers do so much. Of course, introducing God and Jesus to criminals wouldn't be necessary if our schools kept him in the forefront of learning.

From a L-E 'commentary': "According to the 2010 U.S. Census, a person with a master’s degree will earn, on average, $1.3 million more than a person with a bachelor’s degree. And those with a doctorate earn $2.2 million more than a person with a bachelor’s degree. * Over the last year, Columbus State has added five new graduate degrees: Master of Education in theatre education, Master of Music in performance, Master of Arts in history, Master of Science in Nursing (an online degree in collaboration with Clayton State University) and Specialist in Education with a major in special education." -- What's missing from this formula is that none of the new degrees actually 'creates' jobs.... they basically raise the costs to taxpayers for mostly government paid job levels.
---
I'm real puzzled why the L-E is making so much out of Zuppan donating a painting to the Public Safety Building. The painting was framed from Phenix City of the Eagle & Phenix condominium development which the residents pay almost nothing in property taxes to support our CPD and CFD. Why not a nice painting depicting the Public Safety Building itself?

Took notice of the Eisenhower Art Exhibit coming to Columbus in a few days. I have a signed piece from General Eisenhower my Dad got for me. Dad was playing golf at Augusta the same day as President Eisenhower in 1957, and he brought me an Augusta National scorecard signed by President Eisenhower.
---
I'm confused...Tiger Woods has mixed race parents, but he's considered black; potUS O'Blather had mixed race parents, but he's considered black; George Zimmerman has mixed race parents but he's considered 1/2 white & 1/2 Latino. Political correctness at its worst.

L-E story: "The Commerce Department says new-home sales fell 1.6 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 313,000 homes. Hmm, thinking about it, may be it could happen...an actor doing rehab actually regaining reality might really crimp 'Jersey Shore'.

A fellow BCer mentioned this as a way the Whitewater group 'shoulda' thought of to add some drama/credibility to the dud dam breaching. For the next phase, the Whitewater group should get the Naval Museum cannon moved down to Woodruff Park, aim it at the dam, fire a normal 'charge', then a second later, set off the "poof" at the dam we've become accustomed to at such Whitewater fiascos.
---
The City's solution to closing the old landfill by the Chattahoochee is to lace together cement 'mattresses' to cover the bank of the river, and it looks awful. The Whitewater group is using those same type of 'mattresses' to alter water flow in the Chattahoochee... they'll look awful as well. Sorta reminds me of when the City built a retaining wall of used tires down at Lakebottom Park to try to prevent erosion. So much for government solutions.

You sure can depend on the GA DOT... Report the damages of convoys of loaded dump trucks tearing up 2nd Avenue, or a J R Allen exit/entry ramp that has far too many wrecks and a fatal crash, and the DOT will investigate, call for some sort of study, and then disappear, BUT report a sign or billboard being obstructed by a tree, and the DOT will be there the next day.

As December 2009 ended, I was paying $63.00 for my monthly supply of blood pressure medicine. In January, it went up to $66.00 a bottle. Why should a drug company be allowed to get away with this?

L-E headline: "Unhappy public not sure who to blame for high gas" -- Hmmm.... obviously, this is the base of voters that voted for potUS O'Blather in 2008, and he's counting on them to vote for him again this year.

L-E headline: "SENATE PASSES SMALL BUSINESS BILL " -- Hmmm, Dulcolax, a lot of it, must have been used on Harry Reid.

HuffPost headline/story: "Slavery Homework Problem: Another Georgia Elementary School Under Fire For Math Problem Referencing Slaves * Parents are outraged after 139 fourth grade students in Georgia were given a math problem referencing slavery, WAGA-TV reports. * The incident is reminiscent of a similar controversy at another Georgia school that erupted in January. Parents at Beaver Ridge Elementary School in Norcross, Ga., were outraged after students were sent home with math word problems using explicit examples of slavery." -- Two questions come immediately to mind: Do the teachers not review the preprinted problem sheets they assign their students, and doesn't the local school system have an approved resources list for vendors? Regardless of the answers, the teacher(s) who hand out such, and the school systems's curriculum department should be immediately fired (versus reassignment).

Online story: "President Obama's campaign has responded to comments Rick Santorum made about Malia's school trip to Mexico. Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager, told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell that she is "surprised" Santorum would drag the president's children into the political crossfire. * "I think that children, for candidate purposes, have always been off-limits in presidential campaigns, and really any campaign," Cutter said, according to The Hill. "I'm surprised that Rick Santorum wouldn't agree with that." --
HUH? Given that Santorum's statement was not about potUS O'Blather's daughter to begin with, but about the abuse of potUS O'Blather's position in using the Secret Service in such a personal use not afforded every citizen, why isn't the media asking the same questions. Then when you look back at how the DIM&DUMBERats attacked the children of Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, and even Bush 41 & 43, there seems to be a heavy dose of hypocrisy coming to the forefront. DIM&DUMBERats sure have conveniently short memories!

Once again, the whitewater hoopla was just that. This is the second time the whitewater crowd has built an event up that has failed to be as promised. Pretty soon, it will be a situation of them 'crying WOLF' and no one will care.
---
About the only way potUS O'Blather will take the seriousness of the cost of gas will be for him to have to watch the gas pump as he personally fills up the tanks of Air Force 1.
---
Online quote service: "There's a beauty to wisdom and experience that cannot be faked. It's impossible to be mature without having lived." - Amy Grant" -- The same applies to leadership...isn't that right potUS O'Blather?

The Spring Harbor question is at best murky, but there is a real travesty of the laws governing special tax breaks at the Eagle and Phenix condominium development. Apparently, there is a special tax break for developing that (and similar) properties, but apparently the law allows the developers to pass along that tax break to individuals who buy units there. A former Columbus banker has a unit assessed at $324,378.00 and paid a total of $27.08 in property tax last year. One unit is assessed at $1,332,812.00 and paid only $388.81 last year. Others, including some of the developers, have purchased units while maintaining another home using the homestead exemption break reserved for primary residences. This law needs to be revised, as only the affluent can get such tax breaks.

Unsaid about the change from 'emergency care' to 'urgent care' is that Columbus Regional already has a separate "Urgent Care Center" across the street from Columbus Regional itself.

Online story: "WASHINGTON -- The progressive movement lost one of its biggest primary battles in the 2012 cycle Tuesday. Ilya Sheyman, a 25-year-old community activist, was defeated by businessman Brad Schneider, who will now face Rep. Robert Dold (R-Ill.) in the November election for Illinois' new 10th Congressional District. * The progressive movement threw all its muscle behind Sheyman, who had a team of 600 volunteers participating in a get-out-the-vote effort. He told The Huffington Post Tuesday, before the polls closed, that in the past couple days his campaign had knocked on more than 12,000 doors and made more than 15,000 phone calls. * "We have 15,000 MoveOn members on the ground in the 10th Congressional District," (Sheyman) said. "We have thousands in the American Federation of Teachers, AFSCME, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America," Sheyman said. "So these are literally the people who are the boots on the ground, who have worked in campaigns in the past, who are fired up to elect a progressive. They're the ones who have built the backbone in the district with their volunteer army." -- Hmm, Guess all those "15,000 MoveOn members", "thousands in the American Federation of Teachers, AFSCME, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America" either forgot to vote more than once or were from out of District and weren't able to vote in Sheyman's District.
---
There seems to be a story circulating about corruption in the 50 state governments. Seems none got an "A" and Georgia got a "F". To put things in perspective, Illinois, with two of its past governors now in jail, got a "C". How bad is the polling data or how bad is it in Georgia? Haven't looked in today's L-E yet, but the story hasn't been in there so far.
---
Online story: "Two top executives at Susan G. Komen for the Cure have announced their resignation, amid reports that the breast cancer charity is struggling to raise money and repair its reputation after its decision to defund Planned Parenthood and subsequent reversal." -- What liberal media bias! Most donators probably stopped after learning that Komen was diverting their donations from breast cancer research to Planned Parenthood!
---
Oprah Winfrey... billionaire...hypocrite extraordinaire... She's canning Rosie O'Donnell ( for which we can thank her), but she's also firing about 20% of her network employees. After all her sanctimony about and support for potUS O'Blather, you would think, no, 'feel' she would just absorb her losses form her personal wealth just to keep those people from being unemployed.
---
Today's birthdays: "Comedian-talk show host Rosie O’Donnell is 50." -- Make that EX-Talk Show host(ess)....heh heh heh. Happy Birthday, Rosie!
---
WTVM 9 story: "Georgia is banning three-a-day football practices and will fine schools that violate new guidelines aimed at keeping student-athletes from succumbing to heat." -- Too much government interference....AGAIN! The number one threat high school coaches had to get their players to work hard twice a day was telling them that if they didn't work hard twice a day, then they'd have to do a third workout!
---
WTVM 9 story: "The Public Service Commission voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve the company's request to decertify two coal-fired units at Plant Branch in Putnam County and an oil-fired unit at Plant Mitchell in Mitchell County. The company filed the request because of pending U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations. * The decision allows the company to replace the electricity generation with power purchased from three Southern Power Company generation plants. * The commission also allowed Georgia Power to recover an additional $2.30 per kilowatt hour per year from customers to recover the cost of purchasing the additional generation." -- Well, there they go again. GA Power can close 3 plants, and still has the resources to supply adequate electricity by buying it from other parent company plants, and we're not only prepaying for construction of another nuclear plant, the PSC is going to allow GA Power to charge us more for the power GA Power id buying from itself! Recall the PSC!

Mark your calendars......NOT! There's a bicycle event on April 28th dubbed the "Prison to Peanuts" park-to-park bicycle adventure starting at Andersonville Prison site to the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site. Talk about a true DIM&DUMBERat event; it begins at a prison, has no benefiting value, and then heads downhill to the finish site.

L-E headline: "COLUMBUS COUNCIL * Inequities in pension plan proposals raise concerns " -- Why not just give retirees from the city free concert tickets instead, and let them sell them on the open market. On the other hand, equalize the pension plans at the 30 year mark, but don't start paying our retirement benefits until the retirees reach age 65.
---
L-E headline: "General: U.S. war effort in Afghanistan is on track " -- Would someone actually define what is "on track"?

L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Actor Robert De Niro opened a fundraiser starring Michelle Obama by listing her Republican rivals and jokingly suggesting that America isn’t “ready for a white first lady.” -- Well, I just realized that I am no longer 'ready' for another De Niro movie.
---
L-E story: "Two Muscogee County School District schools, Rothschild Middle School and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, are on a list of 156 “focus” schools released Tuesday by the Georgia Department of Education. * The Columbus schools are on the list because they are among those in the state with the largest gap between the school’s highest achieving subgroup and the lowest achieving subgroup. * School Superintendent Susan Andrews said the gap at the schools is likely between typical students and special needs students. * “Both of the these schools have a high number of special needs children,” she said." -- Yoo hoo! Why not separate the 'typical' and 'special needs' students into two schools? Both sets of students would benefit from an appropriate focused curriculum and a better learning environment.
---
L-E story: "A man accused of picking flowers from the yards of homes in the downtown historic district faces charges of loitering and theft by receiving stolen property, Columbus police said." Why is this in the newspaper? The man has had substance abuse problems, but he has children, 2 in college, and one in high school who get zero benefit from reporting this story. Shame on the L-E!

Online headline: "Obama Denounces Bullying On Cartoon Network" Oooops, my bad. Thought potUS O'Blather was appearing on CNN.
---
Online headline:"Who Obama Blames for Muslim Rumor * False whispers that Barack Obama is secretly a Muslim have followed the president for years -- and he blames one source for it." -- Fox Newsm, of course, but potUS O'Blather doesn't think his bowing to Arab kings, or avoiding participation in National Prayer Day, or disrespecting US flag rituals are points that the average American can figure out for his/herself.
---
I am Pro-Life....but with the exception of any partial birth type procedures, I'm not anti-abortions. A woman, or couple, who decide on such a course will have to deal with God about it, but I never want to see abortion procedures relegated to back alley site as in the past. Why don't Republican candidates express this aspect, and move forward?
---
Online story: "Subscribers to an Atlanta Tea Party email list received an alert Monday morning urging them to take a stand against SB 469, a controversial Georgia bill that would criminalize certain forms of mass picketing. * The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Don Balfour (R), a Waffle House executive and Georgia Chamber of Commerce board member, would impose $1,000 fines on people who picketed outside the homes of corporate executives or outside some businesses, a tactic commonly used by Occupy groups, environmental protestors and unions in the midst of labor disputes." -- I agree with the Atlanta Tea Party leaders...this is about the 1st Amendment and free speech. We should all support such freedom, or suffer the unintended consequences ourselves.
---
L-E headline: "Traffic accidents at the intersection of Hilton Avenue and Camille Drive have dropped 83 percent since the city installed a barricade preventing all left turns last year, according to city records.
-- Hmmm...something is wrong here...my thinking is that since there is a barricade preventing not only left turns, but for traffic on Camille to actually cross over Hilton, that the accident prevention figures should be 100% to be considered effective.
---
From the 'suspicions confirmed' department" - WTVM 9 story: "COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Some of the Muscogee County teachers are heading to Harvard over the summer, thanks to the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation. * Nine local teachers will soon be heading to the nation's most prestigious university to learn how to inspire creative thinking and problem solving in students. * Normally only five are selected, but due to this year's outstanding applications they added more." -- 9 of our teachers "heading to the most prestigious university"? "Prestigious" at what... creating more liberals and socialists? Guess with the NCLB rules being eliminated in Georgia by another Harvard educated president, the MCSD won't have to worry about meeting student needs to be able to function without government aid.
---
Online headline/story: "Toulouse Shooting: France 'Awash' With Illegal Firearms Claims Expert * While gun laws are strict, it is not difficult for unauthorized members of the public to get their hands on weapons, according to the president of the Union Francaise des Amateurs d'Armes, a French gun society. * Jean-Jacques Buigne suggested the killer responsible for the attacks outside a school in Toulouse most likely did not have a licence for the heavy calibre .45 automatic pistol he was carrying. * "It's very complicated to get a weapon like that legitimately. But in France lots of criminals use illegal arms and no law could change that." -- France 'gets it'! Guess how many new laws would be being hatched if this happened in the US?
---
L-E headline: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD * COLLINS APPROVED AS CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER * Britt David principal won’t take over until June 1" -- Well, so much for the 5 month tutorage she'd gotten from outgoing Superintendent Andrews if she took control at once. Wasn't that the urgency to do this now?
---
Lame liberal L-E "soundoff" : "No one hates the 1, 2 or 5 percenters. Nobody wants their wealth redistributed. However, everyone who is not part of the “social elite” does want them to pay their fair share of taxes." -- If the top 5% of taxpayers did pay "their fair share", they would get a pretty good reduction, and the nearly 50% who pay no federal income tax would have to start paying some to make up for it.
---
L-E story: "Columbus police say a suspect ran from officers after they found marijuana stuck to his underwear early Sunday, reports state. " -- "stuck to his underwear"? I'd sure be careful about checking of anything brown 'stuck' to underwear.

Rick Santorum is beginning to become the "Howard Dean" of the Republican Party candidates.
---
The latest from barackobama.com: On HELL-thScare - "Two years ago when health care reform was on the line, thousands of Georgians shared their personal stories -- and that helped shape the national debate. * Then, President Obama accomplished what presidents from both parties had tried to do for more than 70 years. He'll be the first to admit he didn't do it alone -- he was bolstered by people like you who stood up to fight for reform." -- potUS O'Blatherwill 'be the first to admit he didn't do it alone -- he was bolstered by people like you who stood up to fight for reform." ? Hmmm, the only thing in common any of us have in common is that potUS O'Blather and the Congressional DIM&DUMBERats didn't read the bill either before it was voted on.
---
Online story: "Toronto library workers are on strike as of 5 p.m. ET Sunday, after failing to reach a deal with the library board. * No branches will be open and workers will hit the pickets lines on Monday. * The strike results in the closure of 98 branches and affects approximately 2,300 workers." -- Something tells me that this strike will probably backfire on the workers. What's rather obvious is there should be an overhaul of the Toronto Library system. With that many sites, the over duplication of titles must real limit the offerings to the public, who will now just further use the internet and electronic readers to obtain the information the public requires.

The US Supreme Court will address whether 14 year olds are too young to get 'life sentences'. Of course they are, but they are also too young to be committing heinous acts that deserve such minimum sentences, so it's a wash, and let'em rot when they deserve it.

Online story: "
DENVER — Angeline Chilton says she can't drive unless she smokes pot. The suburban Denver woman says she'd never get behind the wheel right after smoking, but she does use medical marijuana twice a day to ease tremors caused by multiple sclerosis that previously left her homebound. * "I don't drink and drive, and I don't smoke and drive," she said. "But my body is completely saturated with THC." * Her case underscores a problem that no one's sure how to solve: How do you tell if someone is too stoned to drive?" -- "How do you tell" shouldn't be the issue. States that don't allow medical or casual usage of marijuana should demand that states that do allow such be required to confiscate the driver's license of their citizens that do use it medically or casually.

Will the safety image of Lakebottom Park ever be the same again? A stabbing and a shooting within a weeks time is pretty hard to slough off.

If there was a survey of the best and worst exit/entry ramp on J R Allen Parkway, any one of them could win either category.

Kudos to the L-E! Huh, you think? Look at today's front page... not one mention of St Patrick's Day excesses on Broadway Saturday night! Of course, I haven't gotten past the front page yet..

L-E story: "BANGKOK — Chaleo Yoovidhya, the self-made Thai billionaire who introduced the world to “energy drinks” and co-founded the globally popular Red Bull brand, has died. * Forbes magazine, which ranked Chaleo the 205th richest man in the world this year with a net worth of $5 billion dollars, said he was 80 years old. Several Thai media outlets cited his birth-date as Aug. 17, 1923, however, indicating he was 88. It was not immediately possible to explain the discrepancy." -- Perhaps the 'energy' drink accelerated his health as well. Personally, I think its a bunch of red bull.

---

L-E headline: "UNEMPLOYMENT PROGRAM * Georgia will apply for federal program to help unemployed residents find jobs " -- Looks like another 'bail out' attempt spurred on by a new law no one read before voting on it. Creation of tax dollar funded jobs merely extends the burden of profitable businesses to try to stay profitable. Bad Deal!

---

L-E headline/story: "GEORGIA * State gave out $355 million to subpar day care centers * Some of the money is federal grants for daycare for low-income children, while the other money is from the lottery-funded pre-kindergarten program available to all 4-year-olds in Georgia. Overall, the state handed out $2 billion in state and federal money to day care centers during that time." -- Don't anyone tell you that this is anyone's money but our own. but it also points out how politics got it's hands on the HOPE Scholarship money that is now so inadequate for it's original intent.

---

L-E headline: "Sportswriter Furman Bisher dies at 93" -- Quite the penultimate sportswriter. He was a fraternity brother of my Dad, and I had numerous moments to meet him and listen to the two of them rehash the years of history they shared. Conversations involving The Masters were most enlightening.

Today's L-E is 20 pages.... I've gotten political campaign requests with more pages than this.

L-E headline: "Judge rejects speedy trial claim in Harris County well case" -- Why would any defense lawyer (but especially court appointed ones) try to say he/she is against trial delays. Delays just mean an additional period to book more billing hours.
---
L-E headline: "Richard Hyatt: Nothing strange about Muscogee County School District Superintendent Susan Andrews’ short tenure" -- An unfortunate truth of the last two+ decades. All the superintendents have one thing in common...none have progressed the local education system.
---
From Hyatt commentary: ""Once again the community will hear discussions about the merits of a nationwide search versus hiring from within. It will hear debates over race and gender and over what the pay for the new administrator should be. Hopefully, such subjects will be discussed in meetings the public can attend. * As always, the search is vital. But as Puckett points out, “All you need is one good candidate.” -- Yeah, but that "one good candidate" is probably looking at every job opening and is going to pick the one that best pads his/her retirement package; not at the opportunity to make real change/improvement! * Let's return to an Grand Jury appointed school board, and start electing the school superintendent!
---
L-E headline: "Mayor Teresa Tomlinson to pitch proposals for city's pension plan to Columbus Council Tuesday" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought she was going to 'toss' those proposals.
---
There's nothing about HOPE that wouldn't make it a true benefit IF the deciding factor of eligibility (outside being a GA resident/student AND an American citizen) were based on a student's SAT /ACT scores versus locally determined standards for a 3.0 GPA or higher. It's become even more obvious than before that way too many (a few is too many) remedial classes are needed to get students up to minimum skills once they get to colleges.
---
L-E's "Quotable": "In America, anybody can be president. That's one of the risks you take," Adlai Stevenson, American political leader (1900-1965)" -- Somewhere hidden in the White House, potUS O'Blather MUST have a shrine made to honor Stevenson.
---
L-E commentary headline: "Commentary: Rising gas prices don’t hurt like they used to - Froma Harrop " -- Well, the liberal who's name sounds like (but not as intelligent) the exclamations of a camel, just can't come to grips with having to blame potUS O'Blather instead of Bush43 for the problems leading toward $4-$5 dollar gas.

Today will be the weirdest St Patrick's Day in history... will we find out what's the next 'green' company that has 'pinched' us in the wallet?
---
Online story: "Osama bin Laden wanted Joe Biden to become president of the United States because he believed he was incompetent, new al Qaeda documents show. * "Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make [Vice President Joe] Biden take over the presidency," bin Laden wrote, according to The Washington Post's David Ignatius. "Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the U.S. into a crisis." " -- Didn't think I'd ever have anything I could reference to 'thank' potUS O'Blather for, but since the Seals got bin Laden, I can truly thank potUS O'Blather to sparing us from bin Biden becoming president.
---
The above really confirms my comment about Hillary mentioning she would run in 2016 only if potUS O'Blather doesn't win re-election. You know very well that she doesn't want to 'not run' because of Biden running.
---
Online headline: "Afghan President Blasts US: 'It Is By All Means The End Of The Rope Here" -- Yeah, like Karzai would waste hemp making 'rope'.
---
Online story: "Another one of President Barack Obama's speeches was interrupted Thursday when a woman fainted. * The president then offered some advice to people attending his rallies. * "Remember next time, if you’re going to stand for a long time, you got to eat,” Obama said. “It’s true. You got to get something to eat. You got to get some juice." -- On the other hand, maybe she didn't feint; he put her to sleep with his 'too long' ramblings.
---
Why is everyone at the L-E extolling her championing of the most recent SPLOST? It will produce far less than the projects it was supposed to finance, and Andrews will not be here to explain the 'why nots' or the project cuts. The next Superintendent will blame the past one for being overly unrealistic in her golas, but we need a new SPLOST to pay for that.
---
L-E headline: "Columbus Recorder’s Court * Man charged after being seen fighting with himself" -- Who won?
---
McClatchy online story: "In the California State University system, which accepts the top third of high school graduates, most freshmen have to take basic composition courses or review algebra in classes that don't count toward a degree. * In 2010, 57 percent of CSU (California State University system, not Columbus State, but a whole lot of Columbus State freshmen do require remedial studies) freshmen required remediation in English or mathematics. The rate is higher in the California Community Colleges system, where about 85 percent are unprepared for college-level math and 70 percent are unprepared for college-level English." -- Just a sad confirmation of how ill-prepared high school 'graduates' are when they receive their diplomas ANYWHERE in the US. It's not just local.
---
Watching the latest Bayer Aspirin ad is an eye-opener. You know, aspirin was the main, really only, over-the-counter headache/sore muscle remedy, we grew up on, but the current generation probably only associates 'aspirin' as an aid against heart attacks.

So Columbus Regional says it will save consumers money by converting Drs Hospital's Emergency Room into an Urgent Care Facility. Excuse me, but Columbus Regional already has a pretty new Urgent Care facility on 10th Ave across the street.

The latest from barackobama.com: "Check out this story that broke yesterday: The New York Times just revealed that Mitt Romney stands to profit from partnership interest in a Bain Capital fund that owns a Chinese video surveillance company." -- Oh, in other words, Romney has found a way to profit from his partnerships in China, and potUS O'Blather has only learned how to pay China higher interest payments.
---
Latest projections for HELL-thScare estimates that the cost will be twice as much as first predicted, BUT will reduce the National Debt. Confused? Of course the reason the National Debt will be reduced is that the government will raise OUR personal debt by raising taxes and fines associated with the mandated HELL-thScare laws.

L-E story: " Mental health experts say the soldier suspected of killing Afghan civilians could have post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. * The soldier’s lawyer said his client had seen a fellow soldier’s leg blown off a day before the killings, and had suffered a head injury and lost part of a foot during three earlier deployments to Iraq. " -- Mental health experts think he "could have post-traumatic stress disorder"? Of course he has PTSD!!! Who wouldn't under the circumstances. Maybe someone needs to investigate whether or not these "metal health experts" are really experts at all.
---
L-E story: "Thieves took 22 water heaters from Fourth Street Towers earlier this month, costing the apartments thousands of dollars, Columbus police said. * Reports state the theft happened between March 2-5, though it wasn’t reported to police until Wednesday. A construction crew at the 502 Second Ave. towers told an employee that walls in each apartment were damaged. Police later learned that every water heater was missing" -- Something is missing, alright, like this being a credible story! The apartments are located across the street from its owner, the 4th Street Baptist Church, and it took almost 2 weeks before this was noted.... there's more to this story.
---
On a L-E commentary: I'm a baseball fan... at least of when it was a true game rather than the drug circus it has become. As a 'bucket list' comparison, Cooperstown versus the Masters....the museum is not even close.

Online headline: "Newt Gingrich In Illinois: American Political System 'Is So Methodically And Deliberately Stupid' -- Well, when you're in Illinois, do as the Illinoisan's do. What state has done more to permanently taint voter expectations?
---
Is it just me, or have you noticed that no matter how many Illinois governors and Chicago mayors are serving in jail, politics will remain the same there?

potUS O'Blather is still blasting Republicans for wanting to pursue more oil. Calls them 'stuck in the past'. OK, potUS O'Blather, exactly how do you convert algae or wind energy to propel Air Force 1? Don't even go with converting the smoke and hot air from campaign promises into alternative energy! (Though they might have a better short term chance of success!)
---
Online headline: "Taliban Suspends Afghanistan Talks With United States " -- What else do they want/need to know...potUS O'Blather's already told them our schedules for vacating Iraq and Afghanistan, and that he doesn't support Israel.
---
Hillary Clinton is floating the 2016 balloon, but will run only if O'Blather doesn't win this reelection. That's because if O'Blather wins, she will let bin Biden carry the torch in 2016. That's about as damning of potUS O'Blather's chances as it gets. Knowing Hillary would acquiesce to bin Biden is plenty of inspiration for a lot of DIM&DUMBERats Hillary-backers to vote against the O'Blather/bin Biden ticket .
---
Before any of the Republican candidates 'drop out' after Tuesday's primaries, the RNC should examine the voter declarations used in this years primary compared to the 2008 primaries and see how many DIM&DUMBERats crossed over to vote in the Republican primaries this year.

Update on the next "Dinner with Barack"; description of latest winning guest: "The guy who just won the next seat at dinner with President Obama is a Republican. * Or, rather, he was. * He's from Ohio -- one of all too many states where Tea Party extremism has completely seized the Republican Party. * But when the Tea Party agenda -- the same one that Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum have been fighting to take to the White House -- personally affected Jim, it shook him into action. * He started organizing and volunteering time locally and donating. And just recently, he won a seat at Dinner with Barack." -- There are a lot of explanations for why someone 'changes parties' but no one who was ever a conservative would do so using potUS O'Blather as a reason.
---
While I do realize that if the NCR technology is not keeping up with the industry, no local business should be criticized for not using products from another local business, but as hard as our Chamber worked to get NCR to locate here, Synovus should be a little more
open about its decision to buy its new ATMs from a foreign company.
---
A L-E "soundoff" worth repeating often: "There’s no finite amount of wealth, so that one person having more money means another person therefore has less. Our president would like non-wealthy voters to believe such nonsense. " Great analytic thought process, but, UNFORTUNATELY, not one DIM&DUMBERats can accept because it would mean they would have to tell their voters the truth.
---
When 3 candidates split up 90% of the vote count pretty equally, there is no mandate for any one of the candidates. Even when 1 of the 3 captures 40-to-49%, there is no mandate for that candidate. 1 of the 3 (forget Paul) will have to adopt the message the other 2 are sending in order to win support of the majority. Until then, the media needs to stop declaring 'victors' in any primary with such results and stop campaigning for any of the 3 to drop out. All of their messages/platforms combined will strengthen the Republican of the November ballot.

From L-E story: ""After the first breach (of the first dam), two more will follow later as crews move west to east toward the Georgia side, where the dam’s to remain intact until rapids are sculpted below it" --Once again, the original proposal, the original goal, was to 'restore' the natural river bed/flow. Sculpting rapids hardly fits in to that concept, and has escalated the original estimated cost by 10+ times. Now that is something you can really say has BLOWN UP!
---
L-E story: "Five Muscogee County School District schools are on a list of Georgia’s 78 lowest performing public schools released this week by the Georgia Department of Education. They are listed as “priority” schools. * Included are three high schools -- Spencer, Kendrick and Jordan -- as well as Fox and Cusseta Road elementary schools. * The three high schools listed are receiving School Improvement Grants from the federal government. Those grants go to low performing Title I schools. Title I schools have a high number of low income students." -- With the consistency of said schools leading the pack of non-performing schools in Columbus, and said schools also leading the pack in getting additional federal (read: our money) grants, could it simply be that the low grades are by design to ensure such federal grants? I could be wrong, but this needs to be looked into.

WRBL3 story: This week's Golden Apple Award goes to Kendrick High School teacher Josiah Sumbry. * Sumbry was nominated by student Tiffany Price. * Price told us in her nomination letter that Mr. Sumbry makes sure all of his students are knowledgeable of the subject matter. * Sumbry, who teaches 11th and 12th grade American Literature and Journalism, has been at Kendrick for six years and says he thoroughly enjoys it." -- Normally, this would be something to applaud, but having just posted a story about Kendrick consistently being one of the worst schools locally and state wide, this seems oxymoronic. on the other hand, I was glad to know what had become of Josiah Sumbry since parting ways with the L-E years ago.

It's been hard to not to notice how much credit Dr Andrews is getting for her part in getting the last SPLOST passed. Could it be that the obvious shortfall of SPLOST receipts has had anything to do with her not wanting to be around to explain the results?
---
Speaking of the SPLOST, 2 complete years have passed, and I haven't seen the results of collections published. According to the overzealous projections, anything short of about $90 Million is a problem.
---
Tell you what...watching the exchange between potUS O'Blather, and England's Prime Minister Cameron, I do not feel the two should be addressing each other by first names when talking about world matters in public. Too chummy!
---
The latest from www.barackobama.com: "I know that March doesn't feel as urgent as September or October will. But we're running a grassroots campaign -- that means we're building this organization one donation at a time. " -- A 'grassroots' re-election campaign? Maybe he's smoking a few grass roots.
---
potUS O'Blather finds himself in a very precarious, and embarrassing position... does he fire Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, and offend Asian-Americans, or does he just start by referring to the Secretary as Steven SHOO.
---
Why is potUS O'Blather concerned about maintaining an ally friendship with Afghanistan when Afghanistan hid and protected Osama bin Laden all those years? Carpet bomb Afghanistan with 'bunker blasters' and convert it to the largest soccer complex in the Mid-East.
---
A liberal among us tried to compare a 30 year veteran teacher's salary to a military Captain. A teacher now a days may have 20-25-30 kids under his/her responsibility, and no means of measuring his/her effectiveness. How many people does a Captain have under his/her command, and is measured daily as to his/her effectiveness.
---
Obvious liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If you didn’t complain about gas when it was over $4 a gallon during the Bush era, don’t complain about it now under President Obama. " -- This person must be the ultimate DIM&DUMBest liberal in town, if not the 2-state area! But in a sense, a very sad sense, this person represents the ideal D&D voters the D&D politicians are trying to reach...the ones that can't remember a campaign promise the minute after they cast their votes, so they can be 'bought' with the same campaign promises next time.
---
L-E 'headlie': "DOCTORS HOSPITAL ER TO BECOME URGENT CARE CENTER * Columbus Regional says move will save consumers money, free up Medical Center ER for true emergencies " -- Just where do I begin...there is nothing Columbus Regional has ever done that has been motivated to reduce costs to consumers! Something being initiated may reduce Columbus Regional's 'overhead', but you can bet no consumer will see more money back.

From my observation, no one candidate won the AL-MS primaries. The voters seemed pretty split as to the platform message they want to see the candidate representing the Republican Party start working on. I hope the top 3 hang in all the way until Tampa, if necessary, in order for 1 of the 3 to hone in on what the unified voters want.

Online story: "Four of the biggest U.S. banks failed the latest round of Federal Reserve stress tests, the Fed said Tuesday, meaning they'll have to give up hopes of giving more money to shareholders, and may even have to go hat in hand to those shareholders for more cash. * (One of these is) Ally Financial, which is majority owned by the U.S. government, said it took issue with some of the assumptions in the Fed's tests, including what it called "dramatically" overstated mortgage losses. * "Ally continues to have ongoing constructive discussions with its regulators surrounding these matters, and the company will submit a revised capital plan in the near future," the company wrote. "Further, the Federal Reserve has not objected to the ongoing payments of preferred dividends and interest on the trust preferred securities and subordinated debt." -- Ally Financial used to be "GMAC", the loan department of General Motors, now Government Motors. It's more than ironic, perhaps even 'moronic' for one branch of government to be accused of lying/misrepresentation by another arm of government.
---
L-E headline: "National Teacher of the Year tells educators to be proud of their work" -- This attitude is exactly why students are not learning! Someone telling a group to be proud of itself in spite of results falls into the "false esteem syndrome" category. When you've done good work, no one needs to tell you to be proud of it.. you just know it, and feel proud accordingly!
---
From L-E story: "(MCSD Board) Members did not think that the district should wait until the new superintendent is hired to name a chief academic officer. * The vote on Britt David principal Ronie Collins is scheduled for Monday and if approved, she would begin immediately and would have five months to work with Andrews." -- THUD, THUD, THUD ! That's the sound of thinking people pounding their heads against their desks! Why on earth would the board want to 'initiate' (MCSD board talk for "waste money") a new program that may or may not fall into the plans of a new superintendent? Even worse, is why the MCSD board would want to do this in light of knowing it will be disrupting Britt David School's guidance in mid-year, and the Board may have to backtrack in a few months?

L-E's "Thought for Today": “Any fool can make things bigger, more complex and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction.” — Albert Einstein, German-born American physicist (born this date in 1879, died 1955). -- Guess Einstein' "Theory of Relativity" applies to electing, actually more to re-electing, fools as our politicians. It's all 'relative'..
---
L-E's "Quotable": “Sometimes a scream is better than a thesis.” Ralph Waldo Emerson American philosopher and author (1803-1882)" -- Hmmm, a smart man ahead of TV political analysis on CNN/MSNBC, or either he was an L-E subscriber back then, and had to read the L-E editorials!
---
McClatchy headline: "Chinese make of offshore wind turbines sats up US base in Raleigh". -- Hmmm, guess Chine wants its money back, and figure it can get a $500,000,000.00 plus loan from potUS O'Blather, then go belly-up, and take the money back to China.
---
How can the Department of Justice file a lawsuit against a private party (that's what the D&Ds and Republicans actually are) demanding it not use photo IDs in its private primary election? I've been asked to provided a photo ID just to get my "Senior Discount" ticket at the movies!

When a paid employee, a paid spokesperson of the president, calls another US Citizen a liar, said president has no reason to be upset when another elected official calls the lying president a liar?

Online headline/story: "Police take on rising wave of Tide detergent theft * Theft of Tide detergent has become so rampant that some cities are setting up special task forces to stop it and retailers like CVS are taking special security precautions to lock down the liquid." -- There must be an 'orange & blue' or 'Harvey Updike' joke in here, or perhaps the CAA wants Saban to 'come clean'.
---
Another School Superintendent retiring before any programs can be evaluated for effectiveness, and a new one will be brought in, set up new programs while abandoning the incomplete ones. Is there any wonder why 'what progress has preserved' is taking 2 steps back for every on forward. The MCSD needs to concentrate on bring in someone who's too young to look at retirement in 4 years or less.

Online story: "Lori Anne Madison (aged 6), of Woodbridge, Va., beat out 21 of the best spellers from elementary and middle schools in Prince William County, Va., during the competition Friday at Mills E. Godwin Middle School in Dale City. * Lori, who is home-schooled, will travel with her parents to Washington, D.C., for the May 29 to June 1 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee." -- A 6 year old (kindergarten aged) home schooled child beat the best early teens from the Prince William County public school system. My observation above is quite justified.

That Noon Saturday test blast of the Emergency Warning sirens.. doesn't bother me except that you cannot set/check your watch by. Seldom does it sound when the long & short hands of my watch are pointing at theb '12' on any clock/watch I own.

Rented "Moneyball" Sunday night. It was somewhat slow as Brad Pitts recreated his emotionless role of "Meet Joe Black", but there was unexpected bright spot. During game 20 of the Athletics phenomenal 20 game winning streak of 2002, we get a glimpse of our own Tim Hudson on the mound for Oakland. He wasn't mentioned by name, but he was part of history.

GE's new slogan... "GE Works" Hmmm, now if GE only paid taxes.

Yesterday, driving my daughter's car, I noticed she needed gasoline, pronto. Dropped her off at school, and purposely drove down Macon Rd to get gas. Stopped at a Chevron, inserted my debit card (I love my debit card.. it's better than cash because it doesn't take much wallet space, and I still don't get a bill at the end of the month, either), and got a message to "see the attendant inside". That's exactly why I use my debit card, so I don't have to see the attendant inside!. Pulled out and went to the Shell Station... same story; I left again. Went to another Shell Station down Wynnton Road, Same thing only this time I went in and told the attendant I wasn't going to buy any gas because I use my debit card so I don't have to come in!. Continued east to a Texaco, and they accepted unfettered use of my debit card. I'll probably go out of my way to go back there next time I'm on that side of town and need gasoline.

Online story: "An unlikely hero, the Jet Strip Cabaret strip club in Lennox, Calif., has saved the day (or rather, the season) by donating $1,200 to the struggling Lennox Little League, the Daily Breeze reports. * The league's season was delayed by three weeks because of new regulations and fees imposed by the K-8 Lennox School District, ABC reports. The largest problem is that the district, citing public health concerns, banned the league from selling hamburgers and hot dogs, which accounted for a large part of the league's budget." -- I first thought there was going to be a "Little League" or "only in California" joke in here, but what's important is that the local School District (and who knows by what authority) has further intruded in its control of parents and children. Even if the Little League is using school playgrounds as its venue, forbidding hot dogs at Little League games is as un-American as it gets. School grounds are OWNED by the taxpayers. Wait a minute! I just read that the low income Lennox Little League won its Region championship last year, and maybe the School Board is wanting to punish them for keeping score in a competitive sport!

L-E's "Thought for Today": “If you lose the power to laugh, you lose the power to think.” — Clarence Darrow, American lawyer (born 1857, died this date in 1938). -- This is exactly the reason political correctness makes progress unattainable. The politically correct advoctes cannot laugh at themselves, and no one else can take them seriously.

L-E story: "LOS ANGELES — A federal appeals court on Monday overturned a 22-year prison sentenced for convicted “millennium bomber” Ahmed Ressam, calling it unreasonably lenient. * In a 7-4 split decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the government’s appeal and sent the case back to a federal judge for resentencing. " -- As Redd Foxx might say, "Elizabeth, I think this is the big one", as he clutched his chest imitating a heart attack. The 9th U.S. Court of Appeals, the liberals of California's best friend, just stuck up for the rest of us!!!

"March Madness" is 'over' before it starts. The Finals are being played in April.
---
Online headline: "US Soldier Kills 16 Afghan Civilians * Officials say a staff sergeant went on a killing spree in Afghanistan Sunday, committing the worst atrocity by US forces during the war." -- "worst atrocity committed by US forces"... not by a long shot, This hardly qualifies compared to potUS O'Blather's apologies and foreign aid checks.
---
Online headline: "World Leaders Unite For March Madness" -- Hmmm, maybe an elimination process IS in order. Wonder if potUS O'Blather's team is even ranked?
---
Online headline: "Harry Reid Makes Elections Prediction" -- Just like his 'election promises', he'll expect everyone to forget these by the first Tuesday in November.
---
Online headline: "Egypt Parliament To Consider Cutting Off U.S. Aid " -- Ooops, my bad! Thought Egypt was sending potUS O'Blather campaign money for 2012's re-election, but might be changing its mind.
---
Online story: "Great news, America! Some of the dumbest people in the country are leading your nation, according to Speaker of the House John Boehner. * "We got some of the smartest people in the country who serve here, and some of the dumbest. We got some of the best people you'd ever meet, and some of the raunchiest. We've got 'em all," he said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal." -- And I think that was just the potUS O'Blather list of Tsars he was referring to!
---
I remember when we use to walk (sometimes with our bikes in tow) across a water main pipe between Overlook subdivision to the rear of now gone Wells Dairy. It was a shortcut to the Little League baseball fields of the Sally League. It was a shortcut that parents of today would have panicked over. It was a shortcut little boys dreamed of as it passed through a blackberry patch and a growth of plum trees. Haven't been back there in 50+ years, but there's no reason anymore. The baseball fields have been paved over for a parking lot.

L-E's "Quotable": “It is characteristic of all deep human problems that they are not to be approached without some humor and some bewilderment.” Freeman Dyson American physicist (1923 - ) -- Try that with the politically crowd and you'll be labeled a bigot and racist!

Online "headlie": "Obama Offers Aid To Tornado Victims" -- Oh, he's digging into his own campaign pocket instead of the taxpayers' wallets?

Online story: "Congressman Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) will announce on Saturday that he is resigning from Congress to devote time to his run for governor, a Democratic source tells The Huffington Post. * The move should allow the long-serving Washington Democrat to up his name recognition across the state, which has been one of the difficulties facing his gubernatorial campaign. * The trans-continental commute from D.C. to Washington has severely limited the amount of time Inslee has been able to campaign in the state." -- "one of the difficulties facing his gubernatorial campaign"? That's the lesser of 3 I see in this short summary. The other 2...commuting TO Washington FROM D.C., and being a sitting DIM&DUMBERat.

Remember the comment a few days ago concerning 'pink slime', 7,000,000 pounds of it being purchased for school lunch programs as a beef extended? Here's a more disgusting follow up. Online story: "According to a recent "ABC World News" report from Jim Avila, 70% of ground beef sold in supermarkets contains the ammonia-treated sludge, which is the the product of a method for salvaging meat scraps from otherwise unusable parts of a carcass. * Avila was tipped off to the startling figure by a whistleblower at the USDA -- who says he has quit his job out of disgust with the product. * The level of usage is consistent with a 2009 report on pink slime by the New York Times. The paper wrote that "a majority" of ground beef in America contained the substance, which is manufactured by a company called Beef Products, Inc" -- Publix had better have a sign posted at the door the next time I go in that says it has never done business with 'Beef Products, Inc'!
---
Online story: "Gingrich poked at top rival Mitt Romney, who drew snickers last week when he told a campaign audience he'd eaten cheesy grits for breakfast." -- I love cheese grits.... but the only 'cheesy' grits I've ever eaten have been instant grits served by non-Southern hotel restaurants as a convenience touch for traveling Southerners.
---
Ah, the Bibb Invitational at Comer Auditorium. Hubert Greene remembers scores like 140 to 120 and such. The scores would have been even higher if the three point rule had been in effect. Played on 2 championship teams at the Bibb Invitational. In fact, by today's 3-point line, it would have been fairer to have a 4-point line at Comer Auditorium. I still have memories of Roger Kaiser, Jerry Shipp, Jimmy Jones crossing the half-court line, pulling up and firing away... and that was on a normal fast break play, not some last second attempt of a quarter or game.
---
L-E headline: ": Ledger-Enquirer - Columbus GA1,162 vehicles turn in hazardous waste in Columbus" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Columbus had its own "Clunkers for Cash" program.

Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If you don’t like sex eduction in schools, then thank Richard Nixon because that’s the administration it began under. " -- If liberals applied the same hatred over all aspects of their hatred for Nixon, they wouldn't cherry pick something thay can praise him for. Of course, Congress was a majority of DIM&DUMBERats and the "War on Poverty" started by LBJ was in full swing. Birth control of some nature had to be available for welfare checks went up every time an illegitimate baby was born.

From the City Attorney's Agenda: "Second readings: An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 11-61 to further define the membership of the Civic Center Advisory Board; and for other purposes. (Councilor Berry “Skip” Henderson) (As amended) " -- Hmmm.."further define" ... what the pecking order for the best free tickets at the Civic Center?
---
From the City Manager's Agenda: "ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION GRANT WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM — COMMUNITY ACTION FOR IMPROVEMENT INC.: Authorization is requested to execute an agreement with Community Action for Improvement Inc. for an amount not to exceed $400,000 to administer the Weatherization Program. " -- As earlier noted, this is going to a Lagrange non-profit, but the cap on spending for a Weatherization Program is $260,000.00 leaving $140,000.00 in the pockets of the non-profit corporation. This stinks!!!
---
Council purchases agenda: "ELECTION SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: It is requested that council approve a resolution to expend the appropriated funds to Election Systems and Software Inc. for election supplies, ballots and expendable items in an amount not to exceed $150,000" -- Let's go back to pencil and paper ballots! Paper and pencils should be available cheaply.
---
From the Council purchases agenda: " REAL ESTATE APPRAISAL SERVICES (ANNUAL CONTRACT): It is requested that council approve the contracts for Real Estate Appraisal Services, on an “as needed basis,” with Cliatt Appraisal Company and Crider, Bouye & Elliott LLC." -- From looks of the tax records, we need a full time appraiser on board.
---
Why is Council going out of town to purchase 10 full-size sedans, and 3 pursuit SUV's? Surely the local dealers can match and Council can see the benefit of circulating the dollars locally.

The only successful 'green technology' concept that has gotten off the ground for potUS O'Blather is the amount of 'green' gone up in smoke from Air Force 1 as it whisks him around the campaign and apology tours.

L-E story: "Reverend Al Sharpton said this week's events were not just to be a commemoration of the historical march to Montgomery but a continuation of the purpose of that march. * “But they don't want voter id at their own primaries....nobody asked for photo id in Iowa...Super Tuesday nobody asked for photo id...Why you want our photo, and we didn't see you showing your photo?,” Sharpton said." -- Al Sharpton must live in the state of denial.... Iowa doesn't have a primary; Iowa has caucuses, and name me one voter in Georgia on Tuesday that didn't have to produce a photo ID.

WTVM9 story: "WASHINGTON (AP) - The United States added 227,000 jobs in February, the latest display of the breadth and strength of the economic recovery. * The government uses a survey of mostly large businesses and government agencies to determine how many jobs are added or lost each month. That is the survey that produced the 227,000 number. " -- That's what's wrong with this picture and figures...There should be no additional government jobs being created/filled while the economy us struggling. That's like adding the proverbial 'last straw' to a camel's back.

From a fellow BCer - Bumper sticker of the season:

potUS O'Blather is now claiming that our oil production is the highest it's been in 7 years. aside from the fact it takes 5 or more years to get from drilling to producing so he needs to 'blame Bush' for the growth, he isn't telling you that oil production on federal has dropped during his term, and all the growth is on private fields.

Our government has given a $10 MILIION dollar award to a company making a 12.5 watt or less light bulb that provides reading strength and is affordable. The results is that we can go out and buy this new bulb for $50.00 each. Who does he think we are... the Air Force?

Consumer Report went and bought a new $104,000.00 electric Fiskar Karma car. Consumer Report drives a vehicle about 200 miles to verify the speedometer and other technical data so the results will be accurate when it is tested. The Karma, the $104,000.00 Karma, the propped up by $529,000,000.00 of taxpayer loans Karma conked out and wouldn't restart after 180 miles. I want a potUS O'Blather autographed copy of the Comsumer Reports magazine that reports on the Karma.

Regulations fall in to two categories....those that are needed, and those that destroy initiative. There is a regulation in one state that requires every daycare center to have two sets of 'building blocks' on hand, and another state has a regulation forbidding soup kitchen feeding homeless from accepting donations. Government 0, People -2.

L-E headline/story: " GEORGIA * Immigration panel receives first complaint * ATLANTA — A panel charged with ensuring that public employees and agencies comply with state laws on immigration on Friday discussed its process for handling complaints. * The first complaint with the Immigration Enforcement Review Board was filed last month by anti-illegal immigration activist D.A. King against Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and city council members, saying a city ordinance violates state law by allowing applicants for public benefits to present an unacceptable Mexican government ID card." -- "allowing applicants for public benefits to present an unacceptable Mexican government ID card. Online story: "WASHINGTON -- For years, the IRS has done little or nothing to check the rise of overtly political groups that claim a special tax-exempt status in order to funnel secret money into election-related advertising. * But in a sign that the agency may be waking from its slumber, the IRS has sent detailed questionnaires to several Tea Party organizations -- and possibly other political groups -- to determine if they truly qualify for the 501(c)(4) designation intended for groups whose exclusive purpose is to promote social welfare." -- IRS is 'investigating' Tea Party organizations? Why isn't the IRS stopping "Moveon.org" which has a 501(c)(3) classification which lets donors support political biased advertising and get a tax donation at the same time!!

L-E headline: "Diplomacy stressed over Iran standoff " -- What's 'stressing' to Iran? Iran is happy to continue being 'diplomatic' as it gives them more time to complete its nuclear plans.

L-E story: "RICHMOND, Va. — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says marijuana should be legalized and treated like alcohol because the government’s war on drugs has failed. In a L-E story on the Mayor's Forum: " a Hardaway International Baccalaureate student, voiced a concern often expressed by Columbus teens: There’s nothing to do. She said she and her friends don’t see themselves staying in Columbus for college or after college because of a lack of entertainment options. * “Not that we don’t have enough to do, but not enough that our parents would want us to do,” (the student) said, drawing a laugh from the crowd. “We want something that’s safe, supervised and, of course, low cost, because we’re students.” -- What student doesn't want 'state of the art' entertainment that someone else pays for? What's wrong with getting a teen job and EARNING her entertainment money. No business can provide such without being profitable. When was the last time you saw a teen walking house to house with a lawn mower asking to cut your lawn or setting up a baby-sitting group?

Online headline/story: "How Spending At Black-Owned Businesses Can Help Reduce Black Unemployment * According to James Clingman Jr. in a 2010 article titled "Buying Black - the Ebony Experiment," there is $850 billion moving through Black consumers' hands each year, with 90 percent of that amount going to businesses owned and controlled by non-black businesses. " -- That's about what it should be based on percentages, of course you can throw those percentages to the wind when it comes to blacks serving time for criminal activities, and wouldn't we be much better off if that were the situation. With an attitude like Clingman's, he almost implies that whites should do same, and that would really sink non-white owned businesses.

On the median in the 1000 block of Broadway is an art piece (courtesy of the Thompson-Pound project) labeled "Peace Pylon" and is covered with various peace symbols and words from the diversity of creeds. religions, and races in Columbus. You would think it would have been constructed out of more durable materials, or at least paid attention to more often because it is rapidly deteriorating. Art mimics life. * Close by the art piece is another monument (or at least a 'pile') to life. A huge amount of horse dung, once neatly amassed, has been deteriorating as well.
