Online headline: "Armed men took control of two airports in the Crimea region in what Ukraine's government described as an invasion by Russian forces." -- Looks like Putin has been watching "Rocky IV" too long, but feels this time Drago can beat Rocky because he'll be fighting Obama instead of Rambo.
---
Online headline/story: "Name a Martian crater for just $5 bucks * Putting your stamp on Mars isn't free. Naming the smallest craters will set you back $5, with prices going up as crater size increases. Uwingu will use the money raised by the project — which could be more than $10 million, if people name every available Martian crater — to fund grants in space exploration, research and education, which is the company's stated chief purpose." -- Good grief... besides anyone actually having the right to claim ownership of such right, and even if all the crater rights were "sold", $10,000,000.00 probably wouldn't fuel a space ship out of Earth's gravity, but would fill somebody's pockets nicely. BTW, "Uwingu" is said to be Swahili for "Sky"... it's probably a Nigerian bank term for "scam".
---
Online story: " The cast of NBC's "Parks and Recreation" is getting a new member for a night: Michelle Obama." -- Hmmm, wonder if she'll get asked, "Boxers or briefs"?
---
Online story: "U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was hospitalized Thursday after experiencing faintness and shortness of breath. * Holder is in "good condition" and is "alert" and talking with his doctors," -- Somebody must have wished him a day that 'he couldn't tell a lie' (Liar, Liar 2?) and he went into protective custody overnight.
---
Instant replay: "U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was hospitalized Thursday after experiencing faintness and shortness of breath. 8 Holder is in "good condition" and is "alert" and talking with his doctors," -- Hmmm, Pric Holder goes under anesthesia, can the doctors ask him questions about where Judas 00-Barnum keeps his birth certificate and college records?
---
Instant replay too: U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was hospitalized Thursday after experiencing faintness and shortness of breath. * Holder is in "good condition" and is "alert" and talking with his doctors," -- Hmmm, it looks obvious that Pric Holder is not there on his OObamaCRAP plan. Hmmm, if he's there on his old plan, does that mean it hasn't changed policy conditions since 2010, and that the insurance we taxpayers have paid for all these years has covered "previous conditions" and capless for benefits, and what is his deductible?
---
Online headline: "Martin Walsh, Bill De Blasio To Boycott St. Patrick's Day Parades In Protest Of Anti-Gay Policies" -- Wanna bet the parade organizers will cave in and rename it the "St PATRInizing Day Parade"?
---
Absurd (even for) HuffPost story: " The Republican lobbyist promising to introduce a bill banning gays from the National Football League unveiled the text of that legislation on Thursday.* The bill, titled "The American Decency Act of 2014," would make it illegal for "self-declared homosexual football players" to join an NFL team unless it "provides facilities for homosexual players which are entirely separate and distinct from the facilities used by heterosexual players." A violation of that provision would result in a fine between $3 million and $8 million. * Pushed by lobbyist Jack Burkman, CEO of Burkman Associates LLC, the bill would give the Department of Justice the power to enforce the ban." -- "Republican lobbyist"? Lobbyists represent/push "issues" and solicit support from all Representatives/Senators REGARDLESS of party affiliation. The HuffPost 'article' at least "admits" only a handful of such have signed on, but the HuffPost does not, probably cannot, give actual names of Congresspersons who have done so. Also take in the HuffPost political/cultural bias, and that "lobbyists" aren't members of Congress and neither submit or vote on bills.

Online story: " The mayor of New Jersey's capital city was removed from office by a judge Wednesday, 19 days after a jury found him guilty of corruption as part of a government sting. * Trenton Mayor Tony Mack, 48, had fought to remain in office until his sentencing in May while also seeking to have his conviction thrown out. * But Judge Mary Jacobson rejected his arguments and signed an order removing him from office. Mack is also ineligible to hold public office in the future and has been stripped of his taxpayer-funded pension. He will be allowed to keep the contributions he made to his retirement plan." -- "Stripped of his taxpayer paid pension"? "allowed to keep the contributions he made"? Were not the "contributions he made" supplied by the taxpayers as well? All I can surmise is that this guy really PO'd some Democrats up the line in power.
My guess is that ex-Mayor M(_*_)ck must have exposed how the system of corruption worked so the pwers-that-be above him won't be able to continue to do the same thing.

A heads up .... A movie coming out this March was partially shot here in Columbus/Phenix City...."The Need For Speed". Look for the bridge over the Chattahoochee River between our cities for some spectacular racing & crash scenes.
---
Hillary says OObamaCRAP does need to be more transparent.....HUH? A Clinton talking about transparency..Yeah, like she's been...this is the woman who redacted her cookie recipes.
---
Hillary...Ms "who, me...bake cookies?" Is now telling women it's wonderful they don't need to go to work to afford/get health insurance. I guess what's she trying not to say is there aren't any jobs available.
---
The Republican campaign should be about being "The Party of Know", emphasize the Democrat's as the "Party of No Way"
---
I don't believe it... I actually heard Nancy Pelosi start a statement about not voting on Irani sanctions with. " I think". Yeah, right.. Coming from a woman who encourages her party members to vote without reading, you know she's never had a thought of her own.
---
Great! The Senate is kicking around a bill to ban marketing e-cigarettes to minors because it's a "gateway" to real cigarettes. These are some of the same guys that feel marijuana is safe and self contained.
---
Prosecutors of Pistorius have had his iPhone for over a year but haven't "cracked" his password. They're stupid! I'm pretty sure Pistorius would get another iPhone and download his back-up info, THEN delete it, cancel the account, and open another number. His old number will have been re-issued to somebody else by now.
---
Online headline: "Keith Olbermann Did Not Watch MSNBC For More Than A Year While He Was Working There" -- Hmm, and, obviously, neither did anyone else.
---
Online quote source: "“It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything.” - Anne Frank " -- 2014 & 2016 are on the way.. these are words to inspire conservatives until then.
---
Online story: "A $60 million Texas high school stadium that got national attention for its grandeur and price tag will be shut down indefinitely 18 months after its opening, school district officials said Thursday. * Eagle Stadium in the Dallas suburb of Allen will be closed until at least June for an examination of "extensive cracking" in the concrete of the stadium's concourse, the district said in a statement Thursday. The closure will likely affect home games at the stadium this fall, the district said. * Built in 2012 as part of a $120 million bond issue, Eagle Stadium seats 18,000 people and sports a 38-foot-wide video board." -- Closed indefinitely after 18 months use...hmmm, musta used the same contractors that our school board uses....
---
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio took off the gloves in his battle with education reformers, rescinding an agreement for the city to share space with several public charter schools. * The move undercuts educators, parents and some 700 students at four schools, including Harlem Success 4, one of the public charter school movement’s top success stories, and two set to open in the fall. While agreements at those schools were rescinded, expansion of a fourth school was also blocked. * de Blasio, who is an unabashed critic of charter schools and won election with full-throated support of the United Federation of Teachers" -- Hmmm "support" of the UFT? Hmmm, guess giving Charter Schools access to unused public school facilities cut back on available space for the hundreds of UFT members who have been stripped of classroom duties but get salary and pension benefits when they show up to a school facility every day and read, watch TV, play games etc.

L-E story: " In a powerful and passionate plea for a jury to convict Dequandrea Truitt and Shaquille Porter in the 2013 New Year’s Day killing of Charles Foster Jr. at a Columbus nightclub, Senior Assistant District Attorney LaRae Moore attacked what she called “a code of silence.” * “Dec. 31, 2012; a club full of people; 21 shots fired inside and outside; one dead; six wounded and all we are left with is a handful of witnesses,” she told the Muscogee County Superior Court jury Thursday in her closing argument. “Why? ... What would make people in a crowded nightclub deaf, dumb and blind to gunfire?" -- Why is the ADA asking the jury? She needs to be asking that question to the NAACP, recipients of grants from the Crime Prevention Committee, the local Ministerial Alliance, the Congressional Black Caucus, from the pulpit of every predominantly black church, at every Jr & Sr high school asembly, and with the assistance of the Columbus, L-E editorial staff.
---
Densely uninformed low info voter's L-E "soundoff": "Funny how the Jane Fonda haters never mention their hero William Calley, the pride of Columbus." -- Well, where do we start.. 1 - Calley was tried and convicted, but later pardoned, mainly because no one else was held responsible above his rank, 2 - Calley has paid a dear personal price long after he's paid his pennance, 3 - Calley has been the victim on pretty much personal annual media assaults, and 4 - he no longer lives in Columbus. What's Fonda "paid" in pennance?

Online headline/story: "German study finds cannabis use triggered 2 deaths * The findings are noteworthy because cannabis isn't normally associated with acute physical problems, let alone death. * The researchers, based at Duesseldorf and Frankfurt's university hospitals, said these were isolated cases but suggested people who might have serious heart problems should be made aware of the risk of cannabis use. * Autopsies showed that the younger man had a serious undetected heart problem and the older one had a history of alcohol, amphetamine and cocaine abuse. * These underlying conditions, combined with cannabis's known effect of increasing a user's heart rate or blood pressure when lying down, may have caused the men's hearts to lose their rhythm." -- Hmmm, wonder if the FDA will put this info in its pipe and smoke it.

What's up with the RNC? It's discussing sites for the 2016 Convention but most of the choices are for iffy, at best, solid liberal leaning states. Does the RNC think catering to a more liberal state will matter to liberal voters, or that mainstream media will congratulate the RNC for "getting along"? That ain't gonna happen! The RNC needs to pick a state that's solidly behind it, and spend the big bucks where it's appreciated, and reward the voters who support the issues that we need.

Online story: "A (47 year old) Missouri inmate was executed early Wednesday for abducting, raping and killing a (15 year old) Kansas City teenager as she waited for her school bus." -- If the crime hadn't occurred, the 15 year old teen would now be 40. The (_*_)nimal who raped and killed her was 22 at the time. For 25 years, the girl's and the (_*_)nimal's parents and families have had to live with this daily. 25 years of delays is not justice.
---
Online story: "Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., unveiled his tax reform plan, which he said would spur economic growth by making the tax code simpler and fairer for individuals and corporations. * His plan is to reduce tax rates, is based on eliminating lots of tax breaks that benefit many individuals and industries." -- First, there are no Michigan Republicans. Secondly, it attacks the core of the American dream by reducing mortgage interest deductions, Thirdly, will have no impact on bringing under-the-counter income into play. Fourthly, it doesn't eliminate the IRS. Bad BILL!
---
Online story: "A Florida woman is in a legal fight with the city of Cape Coral for the right to live without municipal water or electricity * “I know how to live off the grid completely and in a sanitary way,” says Robin Speronis, who began living without most city utilities more than a year ago thanks to solar panels and treated rainwater. * A judge gave Speronis 30 days to reconnect to city water, noting that she'd been using the sewer system without paying for it. After the hearing, the city capped her sewer, a move she calls "pure evil." -- Government run amok! I'm sure this lady pays property taxes that pay for the utilities of income subsidized users, so hasn't the City employee who ordered her sewer capped given the lady a real legal case against the city for potentially (and intentionally - with malice) putting her healthy and property in jeopardy?
---
Online headline: "ARIZONA VETO - Gov nixes controversial denial of service bill" -- Brewer finally came to her senses and avoided another "stupid Republican..... trick". The bill itself probably would have had little impact on reality, but the reality was that mainstream media would use it to divert attention to real issues during the mid-term elections. Sadly, mainstream media will still use the bill in Arizona politics,

The L-E is now posting "Columbus' 10 Most Wanted" mug shots online. OK, if the black community is serious about stopping crime, Crime Stoppers phone calls should be ringing of the hook 24/7, and the local chapter of the NAACP would call a truce on its outlandish claims of racial discrimination in incarcerating criminals.
---
I'm curious... if law enforcement has mug shots of "Columbus' 10 Most Wanted", why are they out running free?
---
BS! Some Democrat spinmeister on Fox said health insurance was more important to women because "we" have more health problems. How does she with away with that without being called a feminist chauvinist? That's as stereotypical as saying "it's female thing, you wouldn't/can't understand."
---
"I'm a white boy, but I can jump...".. Hmmm, John Rocker cornered by the media? Nah.. Bleep Veep Biden on a roll, but he forgot to add: "through hoops, from positions, and if necessary, ship, if I think it will get me a vote".
---
The Climate Change boosters have flip flopped big time in California. While it is raining today on a good bit of the drought plagued coastal areas, the advocates used to proclaim Global Warming/Climate Change would bring excessive rains, but now are trying to blame Climate Change for the drought.
---
Bill Gates... Liberal and liberals' icon of liberalism. If he's so sure throwing good money at liberal educational ideas, then why doesn't he just give it all to his home state of Washington in one lump sum instead of trickling his much vaunted billions out a grant-at-a-time,? I'm talking all $60+ Billion of it, and in, say, 5 years, see if Washington State's education system is perfect, or will Washington educators be back looking for more money?
---
L-E story: " An al-Qaida-inspired extremist has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of an off-duty British soldier who was hacked to death in a frenzied attack on a London street in front of horrified passers-by looked on." -- Good grief...Why is this (_*_)nimal still breathing? Well, if there is true justice, the British will put the (_*_) on an exclusive diet of pork products, and hope he dies in a week or two.
---
L-E headline: " KERRY KENNEDY SAYS SHE HAS NO MEMORY OF ACCIDENT" -- Another Hillary influenced budding politician... "I don't recall" has to be the next words out of Kerry Kennedy's mouth."
---
Online story: " Comedian Tim Wilson has died. His manager Chris Dipetta confirms on social media that the 52 year old died on Wednesday of an apparent heart attack. " -- Wow.. Tim Wilson was a high school classmate of my bride. She and I have had more than our share of mortality situations in the past year or two as we've lost too many friends and family way too early. Life is special.. enjoy it, and take care of yourselves.

The "reverend?" Richard A. Jessie has a letter in today's L-E.. Once again he's railing that too many blacks are in jail and making them work is slavery. Recently, two uncles were arrested in the drug related death of their own nephew.. one of the uncle's has been associated/involved in 5 murders in his44 year lifetime (so far) yet still walks the streets. I hope the judge that handles that uncle's (ANTONIO DARCET KING) trial drafts and appoints the "reverend?" Richard A. Jessie as the jury foreman so his "flock" can see whether he deserves to lead their children's spiritual development.
---
You know, the 2016 presidential race could really cause a quandary in the feminist and alternative lifestyle sectors.. There is the possibility of the race being between Jeb Bush and Hillary, and the number one issue could get down to: Am I for Bush or against Bush?
---
Personal pride moment: Girls high school basketball.. Columbus has two teams, Kendrick, undefeated in 29 games, and Columbus, 29-1, going to the Final 4 of their divisions. Sure would be nice to have a game between those two teams.

Judas OO-Barnum's puppet at the Secretary of Defense's office says our superior technology will make up for fewer soldiers on the military payroll. Hmmm, how did "superior technology" work out in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and our Mexican border? If 3rd world countries feared our "superior technology" we wouldn't NEED foot soldiers at all, especially as post-skirmish occupation.
---
Our courts of appeal have opened a door that may lead to the neutering of our deportation policy for criminal illegal aliens. A member of MS 13 gangland was caught, and before his deportation, pledged to renounce his membership into the gang, and is seeking asylum based in his fear of being killed if returned to his home country. A court of appeals reversed a lower court judge's decision to send the criminal home anyway. Talk about a boondoggle that might get al Qaida scum at Gitmo an entry solution to mainland America!

Online story: " Gunmen from Islamist group Boko Haram ( whose name means "Western education is sinful") stormed a boarding school in northeast Nigeria overnight and killed 29 pupils, many of whom died in flames as the school was burned to the ground, police and the military said on Tuesday. * Some of the students bodies were burned to ashes * All those killed were boys * They have also started abducting scores of girls, a new tactic reminiscent of Uganda's cult-like Lord's Resistance Army * The Islamists, whose struggle for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands and made them the biggest threat to security in Africa's top oil producer, increasingly are preying on the civilian population." -- Pray for the Christian missionaries you and your churches are supporting in Africa... it is war!

---
Online story: "Even the scoreboards in high school gyms will have to advertise only healthy foods under new rules announced Tuesday by the Obama administration. * That means a scoreboard at a high school football or basketball game eventually wouldn't be allowed to advertise Coca-Cola, for example, but it could advertise Diet Coke or Dasani water, which is also owned by Coca-Cola Co. Same with the front of a vending machine. Cups, posters and menu boards which promote foods that don't meet the standards would also be phased out" -- Good Grief! Judas 00-Barnum's whole legacy will be about minimum wages and food control.. He'll eventually be referred to as the black Michael Bloomberg.
---
Democrat Gov Malloy of Connecticut tried to undermine Rep Gov Jindal of Louisiana's claim that Judas 00-Barnum's legacy will be known as "the minimum wage presidency" . Malloy said we shouldn't bemoan someone making $404.00 (40 x $10.10) a week. Hmmmm, how about the worker getting cut to 29 hours or less because of OObamaCRAP and grossing only $292.90 instead?
---
You know, when future Black History Months are highlighted, will historians want young students to be reminded of the legacy of Judas 00-Barnu?
---
You know, those scoreboards were probably donated with contracts attached. If schools remove them, they may be subject to law suits, and no more participation with the big concession brands who consider these as advertising budget items. Looks like another "unfunded Judas 00-Barnum mandate" being dumped on local school boards/taxpayers.
---
Online story: "Police on the island nation of Seychelles say that two former U.S. Navy SEALs found dead aboard the ship Maersk Alabama died of respiratory failure and were suspected to have had heart attacks, possibly from drug use. * The police said Monday that a syringe and traces of heroin were found in their cabin. Police said samples are being sent to Mauritius for analysis to establish if the men had consumed "a substance" that could have caused the health failures." -- Hmmm, glad it didn't happen here in Columbus... cause of death would have been determined as "accidental" and no one would ever know for sure.
---
Online story: "Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in medications including Tylenol and Excedrin, is the most commonly used over-the-counter pain and fever reliever during pregnancy. Now, research suggests it might increase the risk of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder-like problems in children. * The findings, published in JAMA Pediatrics on Monday, are preliminary and do not establish cause and effect. However, they do intensify questions about the risks and benefits of taking the medication while pregnant. * Aspirin and ibuprofen -- nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs -- are generally not recommended as pain relievers for pregnant women, particularly during the last three months. Acetaminophen-based medications such as Tylenol, however, have generally been thought to be safe, and estimates suggest that more than 50 percent of women in the United States take acetaminophen at some point while pregnant" -- Wow! Legal ads for Tylenol class action suits are about to make the one about mesothelioma seem isolated. Watch McNeil stock if you have it stashed away.
---
Online story: "A bus driver who was shot in the chest was saved by a Bible in his pocket, leading police to believe that "some kind of intervention" took place. * Investigators found a pair of bullets lodged in a copy of "The Message," a contemporary translation of the New Testament. Wagoner had just started carrying the book in his pocket last week * Ricky Wagoner, from Dayton, Ohio, was trying to repair his broken-down bus on Monday morning when he was approached by three men, according to police. * He heard suspects say that it was time to kill a polar bear to get into a club * The assailants shot Waggoner in the leg and stabbed him in the arm, but he told a 911 operator that he was able to fight back. He stabbed one of them with a pen before all three men ran away * I didn't want to stay there,'' he said in the recording of his 911 call. "I took the gun and knife away from them and shot at them. * The three suspects remain at large." -- You know, what we're going to hear next is the driver loses his job and the police arrest him for discharging a firearm in the city.. We can pray for justice though, and maybe the 3 thugs will face gang retribution for their failure.
---
Online story: "Only a small fraction of Army women say they'd like to move into one of the newly opening combat jobs, but those few who do say they want a job that takes them right into the heart of battle, according to preliminary results from a survey of the service's nearly 170,000 women. * That survey and others across the Army, publicly disclosed for the first time to The Associated Press, also revealed that soldiers of both genders are nervous about women entering combat jobs but say they are determined to do it fairly. Men are worried about losing their jobs to women; women are worried they will be seen as getting jobs because of their gender and not their qualifications. Both are emphatic that the Army must not lower standards to accommodate women." -- This must put the Democrats in a quandry... double standards to insure women can get killed in action while blaming Republicans for their "war on women".
---
Online story update: "In his opening statement, defense lawyer Gerald Lefcourt said Kennedy was not disputing that she drove erratically. But he said it happened because Kennedy accidentally took an Ambien sleeping pill that morning instead of her thyroid medication. * Prosecutor Stefanie DeNise said even if Kennedy took the sleeping pill accidentally, she violated the law by failing to stop when she felt its effects. * Trooper Bradley Molloy said Kennedy passed several drug tests that he administered at the police station. The tests included having Kennedy follow the tip of a pen with her eyes, stand on one leg and touch the tip of her finger to her nose, Molloy said. * Kennedy told the trooper that she had consumed some carrots and a cappuccino that morning and had slept about eight hours the night before. Molloy said Kennedy also told him she was concerned that she might have accidentally taken a sleeping pill instead of her thyroid medication. She said she had Ambien and the thyroid pills next to each other in her medicine cabinet.
"The defendant was not impaired by any drug," Molloy said. "I feel she may have suffered a medical condition while driving." * Molloy said Kennedy was polite and cooperative." -- You have to wonder if NY will drop the ball as fast for this Kennedy as MA did for another Kennedy at Chappaquiddick?
---
HuffPost story: "Approximately 4 million individuals have now signed up for health care plans under the newly created Obamacare insurance exchanges, a senior administration official told The Huffington Post on Tuesday." -- Hmmm, give or take a million or two? If the figure had reached the 7,000,000 level 6 weeks early.. now that would be something to crow about... but the only crow here is the one Judas 00-Barnum will be eating.
---
HuffPost headline/story: "Obama, Boehner Discuss Range Of Issues During Rare Private White House Meeting * President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (BAY'-nur) have met for about an hour at the White House, their first one-on-one meeting in more than a year. * Spokesmen for Obama and Boehner say the meeting was "constructive" and covered a wide range of issues." -- You gotta be kidding me... Judas 00-Barnum invites the House Speaker into the White House for the first time in more than a year, and "covered a wide range of issues"? The dang photo-op session probably took 45 minutes to stage. Looks like Boehner has been set up again as the 'obstructionist'., and 00-Barnum's excuse for the next round of his avoidance of Congress to get his agenda moving.
---
"case in point" online story: " One of the Republicans who Democrats say they're wooing for an unemployment insurance deal said he hasn't heard from Democratic leaders in weeks. * "At no time over the past few weeks has the Democratic leadership reached out to Senator Coats or his staff," a spokesman for Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) said in an email to reporters * Senate Democratic leaders had been eyeing Coats and Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) as potential supporters of legislation to restore the benefits, which expired in December for more than 1 million workers who've been unemployed longer than six months" -- And who will get the mainstream media blame as obstructing action?
---
Hmmm... Libs... for a group that goes into a frenzy when taxpayers try to mix their religion into government issues with the "separation of church and state" defense, well, they sure are for government controlling taxpayers when taxpayers want to separate church/religion issues with the public.
---
Why not let business use their religious beliefs to determine their desired customer bases? If a business feels it better serves its customer base by being exclusive, then another business can focus on/go after the others not included. Smart businesses will try to appeal to all customers that may want to use their product, but then other smart businesses know they can do best by focusing in on the aspects that fill a smaller bases' needs better. Throw the wheat in the air and let the chaff fall where it may.
---
From a fellow BCer: "Online quote: "I feel myself becoming part of everything. I seem to be super sensitive to people's joy and pain. I ache for unwanted children in the world, for polar bears, and elephants, and Monarch butterflies, and dolphins, gorillas and chimpanzees.' - Jane Fonda" -- Yeah, she really ached for the prisoners' of war pains after her betrayal of them in Vietnam..
---
Low... low... low info voter's L-E "soundoff": "Vietnam is once again a beautiful, peaceful country. President Johnson died in disgrace. God bless Jane Fonda and the protesters who stopped that horrible war. May the little children rest in peace." -- If there's anything to "God _____" Jane Fonda for, Judas 00-Barnum's old preacher, The "reverend?" Jeremiah Wright should be the one to do it, and like he rant he had at America.

Food stamp participants can get cash from independent ATMs. Colorado pot shops are putting in independent ATMs so EBT cards can get cash in such stores. Wonder if any industrious Girl Scouts will set up cookie tables in those pot shops?

Queen Pelosi said "there's nothing left to cut" from the federal budget. News out is that government waste for 2012 totaled $100 Billion.. that's more than was cut by the sequester .
---
Mayor Blowfish Obamalinson really is trying to bully the owners of Victory Mobile Home Park by sidestepping the responsibility she has as the City's head of Public Safety. The owners pay property taxes, and are due Mayor Obamalinson's best efforts to keep their renters as safe as possible.
---
Bleep Veep Biden just threw single mothers under the bus. He said they were out working full time to pay for healthcare, and now they wouldn't have to work as long or hard. Excuse me.... I do believe responsible parents, whether single, divorced, or married want independence, security, good self-esteem, a future with a light at the end of the tunnel...not dependence on government, not dependence on a program that restricts where you live or what you eat, not healthcare that limits medical services and access to the needed doctors. How do women support the Democratic Party?
---
Susan King must have written the "talking points" for Kathleen Sebelius's tirade against the Congressional Budget Office figures of the lack of OObamaCRAP sign ups.
---
When you think about it, there's a perfectly good reason most atheists are liberals/Democrats. It's a matter of not wanting to be personally responsible for yourself and your family.
---
Why is Social Security considered in the Federal Budget? If anything, its inclusion dilutes the depth of debt the rest of the government has run up. Social Security for retirees is all user contributed and solvent. Take those revenues received out of the picture, and the imbalance really skews.
---
The FDA is finalizing a Judas 00-Barnum mandate to make larger restaurants to post calorie/diet info by each item on their menus. Hmmm, in what languages (English, Spanish ... both, what about a Japanese restaurant...English, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese? Will the French protest? Pity the Portuguese...and Russians and Arabs/Islamist. Where will government intrusion end. Are there enough trees in the planet to make the needed menus? Liberalism absolutely sucks!
---
Democrat Gov Malloy of Connecticut tried to undermine Rep Gov Jindal of Louisiana's claim that Judas 00-Barnum's legacy will be known as "the minimum wage presidency" . Malloy said we shouldn't bemoan someone making $404.00 (40 x $10.10) a week. Hmmmm, how about the worker getting cut to 28 hours or less because of OObamaCRAP?
---
Remember Judas 00-Barnum's claim that if you work hard you can achieve? You know, if anyone I ever hired for a minimum wage entry level job worked hard from the gitgo, I definitely raised their salary at the end of 3 months, and paid them what I thought would keep them from moving to another job. This principle is what has made America the dream center of the world, not mandatory minimum wage increases.
---
We finally got the answer mainstream media has tried to avoid since the State of the Union diatribe. You know, to whom was Biden aiming his "finger gun"? Tuesday late night he revealed that a Democrat Senator had asked Bleep Veep Joe not to stand up every time Judas 00-Barnum stopped talking. "Joe" said yes, but "Joe" aimed his "finger gun" at that same Senator who stood up 17 times. Who says "Joe" doesn't have responsibilities ? He notes how many times other Democrats applaud Judas00 Barnum.
---
L-E's "Quotable": “Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.” - John Wooden American sports leader (1910-2010) -- Hmmm, maybe this should be posted in the Democrats' Primary election votng booths.
---
L-E story: "(outspoken lawyer, Frank) Myers announced in a news release Tuesday afternoon that he will seek the nine-member board’s District 8 seat, held by Beth Harris." -- Hmmm, well, I guess that makes one decision easier.. whether to support Harris or not. I cannot think of a more disruptive, self-serving person than Myers to actually having a vote on school board issues. This is the same guy who ranted he controlled several board members' votes based on the fact he "helped" them get elected to begin with.
---
L-E headline/story: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT * Superintendent to present initial plan at two public forums * Instead of relying on the media, residents can hear for themselves the Muscogee County School District’s new superintendent present his initial assessment and recommendations." -- Wait a minute...using the Ledger-Enquirer to get the word out that he's not going to rely on the Ledger-Enquirer...isn't that oxymoronic?
---
Looks like Mayor Obamalinson has hoisted herself by her own petard right here at election time. She's blasted the Sheriff's budget, and the only way to get some of it cut is to take mandated,(and much needed) deputies off duty.
---
L-E story: "Macy’s Inc.’s fourth-quarter profit rose 11 percent, but the department store chain suffered a sales shortfall because a string of winter storms chilled business in January." -- Profits up; sales down.....There's only one way this scenario can happen.. lower labor costs ... which means fewer people on the floor. So much for the economy surging.

The last time the U S Army had troop levels as low as Judas 00-Barnum is seeking, even we didn't have nuclear capabilities. Now 3rd world countries do.
---
If our Army has fewer forces since before WWII, and fewer available options to reassure our friends we "have their back", how long will "our friends" be able to resist their enemies.... or their enemies' offers?
Online story: "Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan told a crowd of 18,000 in Detroit on Sunday that African-Americans should set up their own courts after being failed by the U.S.' own justice system." -- You know, if African-Americans are willing to leave America and become African-Africans, they can set up their own system of laws/courts/justice all they want. The African-Americans who want to become American-Americans can stay.
---
Online story: "A convicted child rapist living in a Denver group home has cut off his ankle monitor and escaped, police say. * Eric Eugene Hartwell, 51, was convicted of raping a 6-year-old in 1991 and attempting to sexually assault a teen in 1996, according to 7 News in Denver. * Hartwell was released on parole in December after serving part of a 5-year sentence for failing to register as a sex offender in Texas. * That conviction came after he cut off an ankle monitor and fled to Texas from a group home in Washington state in 2009 just one week after being placed on parole, the Department of Justice stated." -- First question.. why was this (_*_) out of jail in 1996 after raping a 6 year old in 1991? Second question..why wasn't this (_*_) given the death sentence after the 1996 attempt? Child predators do not deserve a second chance, much less a third one.

Online story: "The U.S. Olympic Commission awards cash prizes to Olympians who win a medal -- $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver and $10,000 for bronze. But the money is considered earned income abroad and subject to IRS taxation. * The marginal-income tax bracket in which an Olympian falls would decide how much he or she must pay. According to estimates by Americans for Tax Reform, those in the top bracket could pay as much as $9,900 for gold. Olympians in that bracket also could pay $5,940 for a silver and $3,960 for a bronze medal" -- And it should be considered earned income! Remember when the Olympics were about amateurism? Well, the concept of the Olympics was about amateurism until Russia basically put its hockey team in the army on government payroll and they became "professionals". Earning cash for the medals goes against amateurism in every way possible, because when Olympic winners get so much publicity within their individual sports world, it basically assures them to become a money generating "machine" for their sponsors and agents as well. Let the medal winners's agents work out the taxes with their sponsors.
---
CNN commentary of Carol Costello: "(CNN) -- There is no debate. * Climate change is real. And, yes, we are, in part, to blame. * There is a 97% consensus among scientific experts that humans are causing global warming. Ninety-seven percent!" -- Good grief! Maybe there's a 97% consensus among scientific experts that appear on CNN, but who watches CNN? Somebody out to tell those "CNN scientific experts" that nobody but Algore listens to CNN.
---
CNN headline: "Sequel won't live up to the original" -- Oooops my bad.. thought this was an early comparison of Judas 00-Barnum's second term.
---
Online headline: "Kerry Kennedy drugged-driving trial opens in New York" -- Good grief! Another Kennedy with substance abuse problems. Could it be that the Kennedys just have a problem coping with the world members of their family have created through legislation?
---
Online story: "Ares Armor is a small tactical company that operates a store in National City, California. Recently the town of National City disapproved of a sign displayed at the National City store location and told the store, “Take down the sign or go to jail. We do not approve of guns…or you.” * Prior to the city speaking to him about the sign, Dimitri says that a uniformed officer stopped by and took pictures from outside. Dimitri’s neighbor told him that the city didn’t like what they had on their sign, a picture of an AR-15. Notice that the issue was not the sign itself. It was not its dimensions or it being obstructive, but its message." -- Good grief! Is getting a promotion call to National City, CA the goal of the Columbus "sign police"?
---
HuffPost headline: "A pregnant woman is just a "host" that should not have the right to end her pregnancy, Virginia State Sen. Steve Martin (R) wrote in a Facebook rant defending his anti-abortion views." -- Good grief.. another "stupid Republican.... trick". The RNC needs to simply make a blanket policy/platform statement that while against abortion, it respects individuals and couple to deal with god about it, but we don't think American taxpayers should pay for them.
---
Why does the L-E find it a necessity to still print pictures of the St*cking Str(_*_)ler? I can still remember his smirking face when he was caught.
---
Why is Judas 00-Barnum so proud of penning in the $10.10 minium wage? That just means fewer new jobs that will be created...well, if that was possible.
---
In the mid-90s, I was asked to serve on a Mayor's Committee on Efficiency and Economy within the City government. The City at that time was operating on a 65/66% revenues going for salaries/benefits, which, while not an A+ compared to private sector service businesses, was pretty good. I wonder what that operating percentage is today?
---
Susan Rice still says she has no regrets that she gave not only incorrect info, but out and out lies about Benghazi. She said she was happy to give the best info she had at the time. We even know that is/was a lie.
---
The liberal spinmeisters are out in lock step saying job hours being reduced is exactly what 00BamaCRAP was designed to do.. that's right, 'designed' to do...to give workers more flexibility to work less hours and have more family time. Hmmm, how do families afford more leisure time on less money?
---
From a fellow BCer... thoughts to chew on and ask to a liberal:
The six contradictions of America
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
---
Latest from www.barackobama.com (the "organizingforaction" mask has been dropped): "Last year, the House spent more than 80 governing hours trying to restrict or repeal Obamacare." -- 80 hours? A drop in the bucket for what should be given. Contact your Republican reps and have them step up closer to the plate.
---
L-E headline: "MAYOR TOMLINSON WARNS CUSSETA ROAD TRAILER PARK" -- Hmmm, maybe Mayor Obamalinson needs to be asked why she wasn't saying this earlier than 3 months before her re-election bid... of course, what may happen is the owners just may come in, bulldoze the lot, and let Mayor Obamalinson's Homeless Committee relocate the residents.
---
Innocuous L-E statement: "The Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball team is currently in third place in the SEC. The team is trying to finish the season in the top four" -- Hmmm, shouldn't the Georgia Bulldogs be trying to finish higher than 3rd which they already possess?
---
L-E story: "Samsung sought Monday to frame its new Galaxy S5 smartphone as a lifestyle product, as it emphasized a built-in heart-rate sensor" -- Hmmm a cellphone with a built in lie detector? Parents and spouses will rejoice!

Unbelievable L-E story: " One of the men charged with the capital murder of Sayquawn Lamer Wiggins has been connected to four previous homicides, according to authorities and court records. * Antonio Darcet King, 44, was booked in the Russell County Jail this weekend along with Santago Montrell Davis, 32. Both suspects were Wiggins’ uncles — King by blood and Davis by marriage. Wiggins, 19, died from multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday afternoon in the cemetery of New Hope Baptist Church in Cotton-ton, Ala., off Highway 165. Sheriff Heath Taylor said Monday he believes the death was drug-related and that King and Davis used an assault rifle. * Both suspects have checkered pasts, but it’s King who was out on bond for a 2011 slaying and was wearing a GPS ankle monitor. * In 1994, King was arrested and charged with the 1992 homicide of Al Jacobs, with whom he argued over a $10 debt, according to Ledger-Enquirer archives. The jury in that trial deadlocked the first go-around before King later pleaded guilty to lesser charges of attempted assault in the first degree and possession of cocaine. King was sentenced to 15 years in 1996. It’s unclear how much time he served. * Four years later, King was again charged with murder — this time in Georgia, in connection with the slaying of Norman Long, a drug dealer who was shot to death in front of a Booker T. Washington apartment, according to records. * Before that case went to trial, King was charged in another homicide. Stacey Jackson, an assistant district attorney at the time, said King was not the gunman in the 2001 murder of Shareff Lewis, 23. The charges of murder and possession of a firearm during a crime were dismissed, but King admitted he helped dump the body and clean the car involved in the shooting, according to records. * After two trials for Long’s murder, the first ending in mistrial, King and the state came to a plea bargain in 2004 in connection with both Muscogee County slayings (his plea for Lewis’ death was merged). King pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and concealing the death of another and was sentenced to eight years. * He was released from a Georgia state prison Dec. 13, 2008, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections website. A little more than two years later, police said he killed Timothy Turman in Phenix City. King wasn’t arrested until May 2013 but was released on $1 million bond on June 25. * According to Alabama court documents, King has been charged with over 30 crimes — but has only been convicted or pleaded guilty to four of them.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry, Davis served time for soliciting sodomy from a minor and child molestation from a 1995 crime in Chatham County.
He was in prison from Jan. 15, 1998, to Oct. 8, 1999.
He pleaded guilty in 2001 to the armed robbery of a Family Dollar.
Sentenced to 10 years in prison, he was released Jan. 10, 2012." -- You know... ANY "black leader" who steps up and says black criminals are discriminated against because they are black should be run out of town by the law-abiding, life respecting majority in the black community!

HuffPost headline: "Piers Morgan's CNN Show Is Being Canceled" -- You know, except for HuffPost headlines, I didn't know who Piers Morgan was or that the show being canceled actually was on TV. Hmmmm, I think we can survive this and not worry about a future "reunion" show.
---
From the "it ain't over til it's over" department - Online story: "KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — With an ally claiming presidential powers Sunday and the whereabouts and legitimacy of the nominal president unclear, newly freed opposition icon Yulia Tymoshenko may feel her chance to take Ukraine's leadership has come. But even among protesters who detest President Viktor Yanukovych, Tymoshenko sparks misgivings. * Just a day after she left the hospital where she was imprisoned, demonstrators outside the Cabinet of Ministers expressed dismay that she could be Ukraine's next president. One of them held a placard depicting Tymoshenko taking power from Yanukovych and reading, "People didn't die for this." -- Hmmm, something tells me this will not be solved by a new election.
---
There's a list of the "18 worst things about Hawaii", and Judas 00-Barnum nor Secret Service roadblocks are included.. Looks like we've rounded out the Top 20.
---
Online headline/story: "The UAW, in a statement released Friday, cited “a firestorm of interference from politicians and special interest groups” as playing a central role in causing workers to vote against the union. * In its complaint, the UAW argues that “a coordinated and widely publicized coercive campaign (was) conducted by politicians and outside organizations to deprive Volkswagen workers of their federally protected right to join a union.” -- Good grief! Unions are the most politically protected entities, the most special interest group in the Democratic Party base, and the UAW is claiming "politics" are dirty? Looks like the pendulum has finally swung back.
---
Online story: "Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will reportedly propose a Pentagon budget that will shrink the U.S. Army to its smallest number since 1940 * Under Hagel's plan, the number of troops in the Army will drop to between 440,000 and 450,000, a reduction of at least 120,000 soldiers from its post-Sept.11 peak." -- Hmmm, as I recall, even Japan thought that number was small enough to attack in 1941, and al Qaida thought it was weak enough post-Clinton to do the same.
---
From story above: ""Personnel costs reflect some 50% of the Pentagon budget and cannot be exempted in the context of the significant cuts the department is facing," Defense Department spokesman Adm. John Kirby told the Journal. "Secretary Hagel has been clear that, while we do not want to, we ultimately must slow the growth of military pay and compensation." -- You know, for a "service organization, 50% in salary/benefits (personnel costs) is pretty efficient. Private sector considers 60% the goal. Of course, In our MCSD budget, almost 85% goes for salaries/benefits. Maybe we should hire Chuck Hagel as our next Superintendent and get our school payroll costs under control.
---
You know... Judas 00-Barnum once said, basically, that he wanted an interior army of his own of 250,000 men. With DHS acquiring VRAP armored vehicles, and more than 1.6 BILLION rounds of ammo, and more than 100K Army soldiers to be out of a job, we better keep close tabs on any Judas 00-Barnum "recruiting" said "laid-off" troops under a "job creation bill".
---
Online story: "Meteorologists forecast a pair of storms could dump several inches of rain on parched cities and croplands throughout California in the coming week, bringing welcome news to a state that has just endured its driest year in recorded history." -- Hmmm, looks like a case of Knee-mail being more effective than e-mail to Washington.
---
Update: Yesterday, I flagged a City Manager's Agenda item of spending $64K on radio improvements for the City Service Center and Natatorium. I did get one response as to why the City Manager wants to spend another $64K on radio improvements inte 311Center and Natatorium. Seems there are a couple of "dead spaces" where radios don't work. Huh? How many times does the City Manager actually think there'll be a Sheriff's Deputy in the 311 Center/Natatorium caught in a "dead spot" and have an urgent need for a radio?
Got the "rather be safe than sorry" response, but for the situations she described, I doubt a Sheriff's deputy would even be on the premises, and those situation would/should be handled by anyone with a cellphone.
---
Sorta an "instant replay" for an above observation being rehashed by a low info voter's L-E "soundoff": The United States spends 60 percent of its budget on the military and its operations. We’re becoming like ancient Sparta. You know what “Spartan” means, don’t you? Do without." -- Instant replay from above - From story above: ""Personnel costs reflect some 50% of the Pentagon budget and cannot be exempted in the context of the significant cuts the department is facing," Defense Department spokesman Adm.

Online story: "Two Missouri students who went toe-to-toe for 66 rounds in the annual Jackson County spelling bee aren’t quite finished after event organizers ran out of words for the contest. * The Kansas City Star reports 25 students started the championship round Saturday, but only two remained after 19 rounds.
* From there, fifth-grader Sophia Hoffman of Lee’s Summit and Kush Sharma, a seventh-grader from Kansas City, buzzed through the list of words provided by the national bee, as well as 20 others plucked from the dictionary. * At about 2 p.m. — five hours after the contest started — bee officials decided not to pull more words from the dictionary and instead decided to continue the competition March 8 at an undetermined library location." -- Hmmm, sounds more like the students should be hired to replace the teachers.
---
Online story: "With possibly hundreds of thousands of rape kits untested across the country, a number of states are proposing legislation to address backlogs that in at least one case dates back nearly three decades. * The New York-based Rape Kit Action Project says that there are more than 12,000 untested rape kits going back to the 1980s in Memphis, Tenn. alone." -- And government commands we turn the US healthcare system as well over to it?
---
Why is the Stocking Strangler still breathing! In 1977/78, 8 Columbus women were attacked, 7 of them died, and I knew all of them. They were friends of my family. 36 years have passed but the memories have never left. The memories are stirred up again and again as justice is delayed. End it!
---
General Pat Foote (“The Army sent me there (Vietnam) wearing heels, hose and a cute little suit with no weapons and no training; women assigned there were ill-equipped in the event of an attack,” she said.) is now an expert on how Hillary says to handle Irani nuclear actions? Gimmee a break.
---
L-E story: " A 25-year-old Columbus man told police that a burglar took around $3,000 from his Spencer Lane home between 4 p.m. Saturday and 2:20 a.m. Sunday. * Most of the money was taken from the front pocket of a vest in the victim’s closet and a clothes drawer, according to a police report." -- Hmmm, sounds suspiciously like the "burglar" had inside knowledge if "it" looked in a vest pocket in a closet...
---
L-E headline/story: "Georgia debates leasing of solar panels * (State Rep. Mike Dudgeon), Johns Creek Republican says the increased competition could lead to lower consumer energy bills. His proposal also would allow third-party companies to sell solar electricity directly to customers." -- Good grief! We know that no such action will reduce the rates the PSC will allow GA Power to bill us. If anything, it would be decades before GA Power would even worry about such "competition, and when it did, GA Power would get the PSC to allow it to buy up the competition.

Soapbox moment: I support police on about as many way as I can think of, but an incident in Austin, TX shakes even me. A 24 year old woman jogger was arrested, cuffed. and taken away in a squad car for... get this, jaywalking and resisting arrest. She jogged across a street against the light. She was wearing ear pods , so did not hear the cop behind her yelling, and when he ran up behind her and grabbed her arm, she reacted like any one else would in similar circumstances, and jerked her arm free which resulted in the additional charge of resisting arrest. Why do I object to police action in this case? Because my parents and grandparents taught me how to cross a street safely whether there was a light or no light present. Look both ways, and if clear, proceed cautiously. I'm about to think those millions-of-dollars walk/don't light systems have numbed peoples judgements, and infringed on people's rights to take their lives into their own hands. I guess Councils just want tickets to defer the cost of installing them.

---
Online story: "German police on Thursday raided the homes of nine elderly men suspected of serving as SS guards at the Auschwitz death camp and arrested three of them on allegations of accessory to murder. * Five men made no statements, while the 88-year-old admitted being a guard at Auschwitz but denied committing any crimes" -- "denied any crimes"? How appropriate since the men. women, and children who died at Aushwitz didn't commit any crimes either.
---
Online story: "An 18-year-old Ethiopian woman was attacked by seven men and gang-raped in the capital, Khartoum, Sudan, in August 2013, according to Radio Dabanga. She was three months pregnant at the time. * The victim had been looking for a new home when she was lured to an empty property and gang-raped. She was found by a police officer and taken into a local station. However, no complaint was filed because it was a public holiday. * When the woman later tried to file a complaint of rape, she was prohibited due to her involvement in the criminal investigation. The victim and perpetrators were not arrested until a video of the sexual assault was posted on social media in January. * The teen was initially charged with adultery for her role in the incident, but the court later convicted her of "indecent acts," The Guardian reports. She was fined 5,000 Sudanese pounds (about $870) and received a suspended one-month jail sentence due to her pregnancy * Later, f the seven men implicated in the assault, six received convictions ranging from adultery to distributing indecent material and received sentences of lashes; one man was set free due to insufficient evidence." -- Now this is a "war on women! During 2009-2011, Judas 00-Barnum sent Sudan $145 MILLION (2012 & 2013 results are more layered and the numbers aren't as readily accessible at this time), so it looks like it's the Democrats who are funding the real "war on women".
---
Online story: "Michael S(_*_)m made two things abundantly clear in his first media appearance since coming out as g(_*_)y: He can handle the spotlight and he is ready to focus on football. * I just wish you guys would see me as Michael S(_*_)m the football player, instead of Michael S(_*_)m the g(_*_)y football player.” -- Hmmm....S(_*_)m could have helped himself here by not publicly announcing he is g(_*_).
---
Online headline/story: "Barry Bonds to join Giants as special instructor to team's hitters * Bonds finished with 762 career home runs. He also holds the Major League Baseball record for homers in a season with 73." -- Hmmm.. and those 'records' need to be clearly with an assteroiderisk - (_*_)
---
Online headline/story: "Ukraine Parliament Votes To Oust Yanukovich, Sets May Election * Supporters cheered former prime minister Tymoshenko as she left the hospital where she had been held. When she spoke later in Kiev, her reception was mixed. * Her release marks a radical transformation in the former Soviet republic of 46 million people. Removal of the pro-Russian Yanukovich should pull Ukraine away from Moscow's orbit and closer to Europe. * It is also a reversal for Russian President Vladimir Putin's dream of recreating as much as possible of the Soviet Union in a new Eurasian Union." -- Hmmm.. pro-Europe or pro-Russia.. 25 years ago.. there could have been a unified US response, but are we sure, after recent socio-econo-political happening in Europe that we want to support that. The one thing for sure is we know Judas 00-Barnum is hard pressed to show support for the protest group that wants more freedoms and less government control. Of course, one other thing for sure in America is that should freedom lovers protesting Judas 00-Barnum's dismantling of the Constitutional control over legislative procedures, we will have legally owned weapons to back the Constitution.
---
Online headline: "Venezuela Braces For More Protests From Supporters, Opponents Of Nicolas Maduro" -- Hmmm.. looks like all of Judas 00-Barnum's buddies are beginning to have unrest of their own as well. We can even see it among his supporters here as well.
---
L-E headline/story: "Prison labor sparks debate" -- "some in the community -- and across the nation -- such monetary incentives raise concerns about the motives of a prison system disproportionately populated with black males, a group that has provided cheap labor throughout American history." -- What's to debate?
---
From L-E story above: ""Today, due to recent declines, U.S. crime rates have dipped below international norm," Alexander wrote in her book. "Nevertheless, the United States now boasts an incarceration rate that is six to ten times greater than that of other industrialized nations -- a development directly traceable to the drug war." -- Hmmm, I bet with a little research work, it would be found that other countries keep prison population down by actually exercising it's death sentences in a timely manner. This also acts as a deterrent.
---
From above L-E story: City Manager Isaiah Hugley says, "Do I think there's uneven justice based on the number of African-Americans in prison? I would say yes," he said. "When we've got blacks making up 13.8 percent of the nation's population, but they make up 31.1 percent of the prison population, a red flag goes up for me. … I don't know what's going on with all of that, but there appears to be a disparity." -- Well, the greatest disparity is the number of crimes committed by blacks.. Increased incarceration just reflects that number.
---
Online quote source: "“A wise man is superior to any insults which can be put upon him, and the best reply to unseemly behavior is patience and moderation.” - Moliere " -- Hmmm I guess this would qualify for "the suspicions confirmed" department... Judas 00-Barnum knows he's not a wise man.
---
From L-E's "Council Agenda" feature: "Directing the Planning Department to initiate a text change in the Unified Development Ordinance so as to amend distance restriction from 300 feet to distance restriction equal to height of a wireless communication tower between towers and residential structures. (Councilor C.E. "Red" McDaniel)" -- Hmmm.. while the Planning Department is mulling this, how about considering stopping the cable companies from leaving coils of cable wires suspended between telephone poles, and while it is talking about communication things, how about requiring all existing landlines be buried?
---
From above story: CITY MANAGER'S AGENDA:
FY2014 GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION - SUPPLEMENTAL PLANNING CONTRACT: Authorization is requested to execute a Supplemental Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for $101,692.58 in additional funding for the Columbus-Phenix City Transportation Study (C-PCTS) with a 20 percent local match.
COLUMBUS - PHENIX CITY TRANSPORTATION STUDY - MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING: Authorization is requested to execute an updated Memorandum of Understanding to include Harris County as part of the Columbus-Phenix City Transportation Study and part of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. -- Am I missing something? I don't see any mention of how much Phenix City or Harris County is contributing to these...
---
From the City Manager's Agenda: "GREEN ISLAND FIRE ROAD AND DAM REPAIR PROJECT - It is requested that council authorize the execution of a construction contract with Landmark Grading Co. Inc. (Fort Mitchell, Ala.) in the amount of $130,671.59 for the Green Island Fire Road and Dam Repair Project. The work shall consist of grading complete, to include: clearing and grubbing, installing GAB and asphaltic concrete pavement, and dam repairs for an emergency service road in the Green Island subdivision." -- Wait a minute.. what is happening here, and exactly where?
---
From the City Manager's Agenda: "BI-DIRECTIONAL AMPLIFICATION (BDA) SYSTEMS FOR CITY SERVICES CENTER AND NATATORIUM -It is requested that council approve the purchase of two Bi-Directional Amplification systems from Motorola Solutions Inc. in the amount of $64,700. One BDA system will be utilized at the City Services Center and the other at the Natatorium." -- Again.. wait a minute! Why weren't these included in the original construction just finished? $64K is not a token amount for an "after thought".
---
From the City Manager's Agenda: "DECLARATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT AT THE CIVIC CENTER -It is requested that council declare the following Civic Center equipment as surplus: Polar Deck Flooring, Carpet/ Turf and Dashers, in accordance with Section 7-501 of the Charter of Columbus Consolidated Government, and approve the sale of these items to the highest bidder." -- Wait a minute! If there's resale value, why did we replace such?
---
From the City Manager's Agenda: "AMBULANCE COMPUTERS -It is requested that council approve the purchase of 10 GETAC V200 Fully Rugged laptop computers from PortableOne Inc., (Pleasanton, Calif.), in the amount of $43,765.82, via Federal GSA. The equipment will be utilized by the Fire & EMS Department and installed in city ambulances." -- You know.. there are lot cheaper laptop computers available, and there are after market cases to protect them from liquids and rough handling, and such would cost less than half of what Council is being requested to pay.
---
L-E headline/story: "California farmers won't get federal water * Without a lot more rain and snow, many California farmers caught in the state's drought can expect to receive no irrigation water this year from a vast system of rivers, canals and reservoirs interlacing the state, federal officials announced Friday. * The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation released its first outlook of the year, saying that the agency will continue to monitor rain and snow fall, but the grim levels so far prove that the state is in the throes of one of its driest periods in recorded history. * Farmers who rely on the federally run Central Valley Project received only 20 percent of their normal water allotment last year and were expecting this year's bad news. Some communities and endangered wildlife that rely on the federal water source will also suffer deep cuts." -- And what's the government waiting for.. to see if people can live without water until the government has enough to save people and the smelt fish? This is sort like being tied-up in a baseball game, your pitcher is losing strength, and having the Cy Young winner sitting on the bench, but not putting him in as you're saving him for the next game.. What if there isn't a next game.. Is it comforting to know you'd have that Cy Young winner ready to go even though there's no more games to use him in?
---
Low-info voter's L-E "soundoff": "The code name for “government-controlled insurance” is Medicare, and I’ve never heard of anybody who has refused it." -- WRONG! Medicare is a pre-paid-into program ala Social Security.. Democrats have just bastardized both programs with Medicaid and SSI programs that are entitlement programs without participation.
---
Another low info voter's L-E "soundoff": " Sandy Hook shooter (_*_)dam L(_*_)nza’s mother, an NRA member, bought him his assault rifle and took him to the range to train, while the NRA bought the legislation to make guns available to anyone." -- And the (_*_) pulled the trigger of an inanimate gun to kill his mother, then took inanimate guns to an unarmed/unprotected school and pulled the trigger enough times to kill 26 people. Sounds like amputating the (_*_)'s fingers would have been preventative medicine.
---
L-E story: " The University of Georgia is trying to raise at least $1 billion by 2020. * Officials are trying to ramp up the effort to bring in additional money. The goal is to offset declining state support." -- Hmmm or maybe to meet escalating salaries that aren't covered by ample state support? Wonder if the State Legislators were aware of this?
---
From a Dusty Nix onslaught: "You’re at the pharmacy to pick up your diabetes medication. The pharmacist takes a look at you and at your prescription, and refuses to fill it. Why? Is it expired, or maybe you’re out of refills? * No, the prescription is valid and current. But the pharmacist has decided that your Type II diabetes is something you brought on yourself, and because of his deeply held moral and religious objection to the sin of gluttony, he doesn’t have to serve you. * Alabama wanted to allow druggists to refuse the so-called “morning after” pill on the basis of a moral objection to abortion (a tenuous connection, to put it diplomatically )." -- There is a difference... Type II diabetes is a disease and pregnancy (wanted or unwanted - barring rape/incest) is not. Granted, both could be pretty well be avoided if we paid better attention to what we voluntarily put in our bodies, but allowing patients to medicate themselves when there is a life threatening situation is not desirable. I'm not objecting to such on morals issues, those are between people and God to work out.
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “If you wish to avoid seeing a fool you must first break your mirror.” — Francois Rabelais, French satirist (1494-1553)." -- Hmmm, obviously not an adage to be seen in the White House.
---
I have to wonder what Karl Douglass speaks to so many seniors about..and why.. It bothers me that then L-E refuses to connect him with his job as a campaign staffer for Congressman Bishop who supports too many entitlement programs that are a detriment to young men and women from escaping the pitfalls of relying on government programs to make it in life.
---
L-E commentary of David Rutkowski: "The federal government should play a role in educational policy formation, that is clear; but this role should be commensurate with its financial stake." -- Now here's an argument both side can parse.. The libs will think it to mean the federal government should just throw more money at the problems. The responsibles will think it means that the federal government should stop contriving unfunded/underfunded mandates There's a middle ground that would be better for the students.. let the individual states handle it all!
---
L-E story: " As of Friday, American flags purchased by the U.S. military must be completely made in America. * It’s the sort of thing that seems like it would have been formalized already. There’s a rule that governs what the Pentagon can purchase and where these things must originate, a rule that didn’t use to cover American flags * The new policy says that American flags, “including the materials and components thereof,” have to be made in the United States. * Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., who is running for a ninth term in Congress, said on Friday that he pushed for the change because he thought it was just common sense that American flags be made in the United States." -- "common sense" from a Democrat... will wonders never cease? Now if we could get that to apply to City employees being required to reside in our City, and state employees being required to reside in our state, we could put a dent in revenues lost by employees paying property taxes in other locales.
---
Kudos for our Kendrick High School girls basketball stars. They are undefeated this season after winning their first round in the state tournament. Now, if we could work on Kendrick getting S.T.A.R. academic students.

HuffPost headline: "Ted Nugent Apologizes For Calling Obama A 'Subhuman Mongrel' -- Yeah, about time.. Nugent shouldn't have offended mongrels.
---
Online headline: "Congress Inaction Prompts Obama To Act Alone" -- What's new? Judas 00-Barnum has to act alone in the Senate and the House since people started reading the bills he wants.
---
Online headline: "Obama Meeting With Dalai Lama Rankles China" Hmmm... I didn't know the Dalai Lama played golf...
---
Online headline: "Obama Loses Two Cases Of Beer In Bet" -- Wait a minute... Judas 00-Barnum's not using the beer he brews at the White House on our dime to pay off his gambling debts, is he?
---
Online story: "Conservatives claim Obamacare is a socialist boondoggle that will bloat the federal government. Ironically, state and local governments claim Obamacare is making them tighten their belts. * Under President Obama's signature health-care reform law, employers are required to provide insurance for part-time employees working more than 30 hours per week. Many government employers say they simply can’t afford it, according to the NYT, and plan to limit worker hours to 29 per week instead." -- There's one main difference between the White House and other levels of government... only Judas 00-Barnum can print money to keep his three-ring circus afloat.
---
You know, If California wants to split, how about we split it off back to Mexico. Heaven knows that would be a good start in illegal alien reform.
---
Looking for a future head of marketing so you can retire in 15 years or so? Better line up and start recruiting the 13 year old Girl Scout out in California who set up a table to sell her Girl Scout cookies outside a medicinal pot shop.
---
You know, there was speculation, even trickles of info about Amasssdor Stephen's murder in Benghazi, but I just saw a report with all the atrocities his body was subjected to while alive and after his death. Judas 00-Barnum's LGBT friends should be distancing themselves from supporting his lack if action in retaliating for obvious hate crimes done to one of their own.
---
Bleep Veep Biden has been appointed the sacrificial lamb for OObamaCRAP. He's out shaking his head that they won't get the 7 Million signees Judas 00-Barnum said was the magic number to make it work. You know, for a program with the intent of getting 30+ MILLION people who weren't insured into an insurance program. 7,000,000 was an embarrassing goal to begin with, but with it missing it by so much is pathetic.
---
Juan Williams had an opportunity yesterday to regain a shred of credibility, but he blew it by defending Judas 00-Barnum's waiver of leadership concerning Kiev.
---
Online quote source: "“Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” - Anais Nin" -- Bet this will never grace the walls of Planned Parenthood or abortion clinics.
---
Low..., no, uninformed voter's L-E "soundoff": " Does God make the decision to send people to hell for traits that they were born with? Hell will be teeming with homosexual, ambidextrous, green-eyed, blind, deaf, or musically talented people." -- God creates us, has a plan for us. God gives us talents to work with. God gives us blessings and challenges. God loves us. Making you own plans, doubting His love, doubting His wisdom, doubting His words and promises are choices individuals make when they stray from His lighted path. God even gives you a last second desperation shot in your dying moments. Going to hell is your own course of action.
---
History lesson: "Operation Eagle Claw (or Operation Evening Light or Operation Rice Bowl) was an American military operation ordered by U.S. President Jimmy Carter to attempt to end the Iran hostage crisis by rescuing 52 Americans held captive at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran on 24 April 1980. Its failure, and the humiliating public debacle that ensued, damaged American prestige worldwide." -- You know.. as embarrassing as this failure was to the US in its world-wide presence, Carter did "try"; Carter did cross the line drawn in the sand. Judas 00-Barnum... not so much.
---
L-E story: " Seeking to correct potential acts of bias spanning three wars, President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Honor to 24 Army veterans following a congressionally mandated review to ensure that eligible recipients were not bypassed due to prejudice." -- Hmmm, but will Judas 00-Barnum be so compassionate as to review those more recent actions in the deaths created by "fast&furious" and Benghazi that he has ignored by his own prejudices?
---
You know, it's not really about whether taxes on the "wealthy" should be cut; it's about why the "wealthy" are taxed so much higher to begin with.
---
Soapbox moment - L-E story: "Author R.L. Griffin is hoping people will come to Country’s Barbecue today hungry for a good read. * Griffin will be serving up autographed copies of her books from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the restaurant’s Main Street Village location. * It is the same place where as a teen the author used to serve chicken. * She was Shaw High School student Reagan Griffin then. Now married, she is Reagan Sauls" -- What's wrong with this? Mrs Sauls has been a successful woman, but the L-E, as is common to liberals and mainstream media, has denied her right to be elevated as such. "Author"? When I was younger, women writers were noted as "authoresses", and women performing in movies, or on the stage, were referred to as "actresses". Everyone knew said people had attained a level of success that could spur on the next generation of girls to aim high in their goals. Libs, particularly those in the equal rights movements seeking equality with men, basically have actually covered up the successes ordinary women have achieved.

HuffPost "Headlie": "Boeing Paid No Federal Income Tax Last Year: Analysis" -- Hmmm so Boeing paid "no" income tax last year.. hmmm.. guess that's a sign of good management. On the other hand, 169,000+ employees making between $21.00-to-$143.00 per hour paid income taxes, shareholders of 751,450,000 shares paid income taxes on $2,006,371,500.00 paid in dividends. Only a liberal or liberal group would claim Boeing, or any corporation didn't pay income taxes. Truth is, no corporation should have to pay income taxes.
---
Online headline/story: "Activists Petitioning To Split California Into Six States * The proposed measure would divide California into six states, called Jefferson, North California, Silicon Valley, Central California, West California and South California." -- Not a bad start, but who in the rest of the country wants to have 12 Senators like Feinstein and Boxer. I have a suggestion... how about if California just splits itself off from the US and officially lives in its own little world it has carved out for itself already?
---
Online story: "President Obama will not include cuts to Social Security and other earned-benefit programs in his upcoming budget, the White House confirmed on Thursday. * The cuts had been included in past proposals to lure Republicans into a so-called "grand bargain" that would raise taxes and cut spending with the goal of deficit reduction." -- What hogwash...Judas 00-Barnum is going to have a rough time getting any Democrats re-elected to Congress as it is without upsetting Seniors anymore than they are, but to claim that Republicans liked cutting earned SS pensions and raising taxes is another out-and-out lie.
---
Another HuffPost "headlie": "Turns Out Anti-Union Volkswagen Workers May Have Screwed Themselves And The South" -- Hmm, the head of the German Works Council (union) says co-determination may mean no more expansion of VW in the South. Wanna bet? VW chose the South following the successes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Kia et al , and others will follow suit. The South is not only a "right-to-work" area, it's an area employees actually "like-to-work".
---
Online story: " Two senior officials at JPMorgan Chase & Co and predecessor companies repeatedly confronted Bernard Madoff over irregularities in his business, a new lawsuit said, suggesting that bank leaders had "direct knowledge" of his Ponzi scheme. * The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Steamfitters Local 449 Pension Fund in Pittsburgh and Central Laborers' Pension Fund in Jacksonville, Illinois, both shareholders of JPMorgan." -- Hmmm, seems to me, the real lawsuit to file is by the employees who contributed into their pension funds against their own pension fund committee that swallowed Madoff's pie-in-the-sky profit scheme.
---
The libs are at it again... now they are dumbing down obesity..Michelle's pet project isn't working so nowthey want to rewrite "normal" and add a few pounds so it will look like things are improving.
---
Has any one from the mainstream media actually asked Judas 00-Barnum as to which side he supports in Kiev? The government, which wants the citizens to have fewer rights, or the protestors who want less government and more freedoms? Can anyone from the mainstream media tell us which side 00-Barnum takes on those issues in this country.
---
Bleep Veep Biden has been appointed the sacrificial lamb for OObamaCRAP.
---
Why would the FCC want or need to spy on our newsrooms/newspapers? Doesn't the FCC have control of all airwaves the NSA is scanning?
---
Online headline: "Feds warn of possible shoe-bomb threat" -- Ooops, my bad, thought Judas 00-Barnum was warning us about the latest Jimmy Choo line.
---
Hmmmm...the FCC spying...Kiev....and now Shoe Bombs...hey... what about Benghazi? What about 00bamaCRAP?
---
Kiev has turned from beautiful to Detroitish.
---
Is Judas 00-Barnum is trying to pull the wool over mainstream media's eyes by jabbing the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 10th while what he really wants to circumvent is the 22nd? Guess he figures mainstream media and the Republicans will give him the 22nd if he will leave the others alone.
---
Latest from www.barackobama/organizingforaction.com: "Hal * It's been nearly four years since President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law. * It makes you wonder when the Health Care Repealers in Congress are going to face reality. They voted 46 times in the House to repeal or restrict health care reform -- some have even said repeal is their top priority." -- "when the Health Care Repealers in Congress are going to face reality"? What I want to know is when mainstream and the White House is going to face reality!
---
Is there no shame in the White House? The newest press spokesperson is named Josh Earnest, but he still spins the truth just as bad as that Carney shill.
---
You know, candy packaging has really changed over the last 50 years. Not near as many come in cardboard boxes, but remember when those that did had a message on one end that read either, "Do not open this end" or "open other end". My bride bought some "Sweethearts" to give to her church charges, and I got a box that was left over. There it was, "Open Other End".. I didn't, and the little sugar bombs tasted as sweet as I remembered when I opened the other end all those years in the past. Test those tags off your mattresses and pillows! You will feel better!
---
Online story: " Richard Talley, 57, founder of American Title Services in Centennial, Colorado, was also found dead earlier this month after apparently shooting himself with a nail gun * Talley was found "with eight nail gun wounds to his torso and head" in his own garage." -- At first, I thought this was the punch line to an old joke, but it's reality. Wonder if the coroner ordered an autopsy? Glad it wasn't in Columbus.
---
Online quote source: "“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.” - Abraham Lincoln" -- Hmmm, no doubt he was a Republican.. this is surely lost on those who run as or vote as a Democrat.
---
From the L-E's "Looking back | Fifty years ago today, February 21, 1964 * EDITOR’S NOTE: The Looking Back archive is temporarily unavailable due to technical problems." -- Hmmm. twice in one week.. Guess either they lost the key to the Morgue, or there was good things to say about this date in 1964 that the L-E just didn't want to admit happened.
---
L-E headline: "Cardinals delve into divorce-remarriage debate" -- Hmmm... like they are so in tune with the intricacies of marriages ....
---
While Columbus should be glad to have Owen Ditchfield run for another seat on the MCSD board.. kit's a little disconcerting is that he says he's doing so to support the new Superintendent.. That's not what his job is supposed to do. School board members should be the Columbus taxpayers/voters monitor to watchdog how the school administration handles our young peoples education and public dollars.
---
L-E story: " Sandra Okamoto, a 39-year veteran of the Ledger-Enquirer, was honored by the Springer Opera House at its annual season announcement Thursday night." -- In unison... a well deserved Standing "O" for Sandra. Hear, hear!
---
On a personal note, 2014 is a varied emotional year for me so far. I bask in seeing my oldest daughter planning her marriage and life with her friend and husband-to-be, but have also lost three family members this year. My older brother died on January 1st, and this week two other "members' passed. Louise Morris, a church, and Kirven's Department Store family legend passed at age 95, and "Mr. Richard" (Richard Howard Bickerstaff) died at age 96. Mr Richard and his late wife Margaret were my other set of parents growing up and throughout my life. I last saw and spoke with him about 3 weeks ago when I went to see him and thank him for a donation he'd made to a shared favorite charity in memory of my brother. His memory will be ongoing through my friendships with his children and grandchildren.
---
L-E story: " Fannie May Confections is recalling 12,000 boxes of chocolates because one of the chocolates inside contains peanuts, a fact that isn’t reflected on the packaging. * The company announced the recall Wednesday and it started pulling the red heart-shaped gift boxes off the market the same day. The boxes weigh four ounces each and contain eight chocolates, including the peanut/caramel candy. They had been sold since Jan. 10 in up to 450 stores, including Walgreens, Hallmark Gift Shops and Jewel Grocers, in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin." -- How convenient... that is making a recall of heart-shaped boxes of candy the week after Valentine's Day, and AFTER the next day clearance sales. How many boxes actually got pulled for recall. 5, 6?

Ukraine protesters are rioting because they believe the government is corrupted. Hey we have the same argument here. Is this why Judas 00-Barnum is beefing up the DHS?
---
Wonder if Judas 00-Barnum is going to draw another red line in Kiev... he could even re-use the one from Syria he never crossed.
---
Online headline: "Obama On Kiev Violence: 'There Will Be Consequences' -- Does that mean Judas 00-Barnum will "double dog dare" them to cross his red line?
---
It was sorta comic to watch Judas 00-Barnum looking "interested" in what the Ukrainian mediator/translator was saying. Judas 00-Barnum doesn't have a track record of listening to anyone but himself.
---
Online headline: "Georgia Officials Approve License Plate Featuring Confederate Flag" -- Hmmm, just for the record, here is a little background before people get their shorts in a wad: " Despite never having historically represented the CSA as a country nor officially recognized as one of the national flags, it is commonly referred to as "the Confederate Flag" and has become a widely recognized symbol of the South.[27] It is also known as the rebel flag, Dixie flag, and Southern cross and is often incorrectly referred to as the "Stars and Bars" (the actual "Stars and Bars" is the First National Flag, which used an entirely different design)." In short, neither objections to its use or non-use are valid.
---
L-E story: "Because of an ongoing Muscogee County murder trial in which attorney Michael Eddings represents one of the defendants, the State Bar of Georgia has delayed a disciplinary hearing against Eddings." -- You know, the State Bar has about guaranteed an appeal to the GA Supreme Court for this trial to be re-tried based on "ineffective counsel" due to personal distractions of Eddings. If Eddings was appointed.. why? If he was hired/paid by the defendant, caveat emptor.
---
L-E story: "DETROIT — A TV station's review of public records has found that Detroit is owed $82 million in fines and late fees for unpaid parking tickets. * some of the overdue money is more than 10 years old and can't be collected." -- Well, it sounds like "the Meter Maids" were doing their job, but where were the elected officials? $82 Million, some of that over 10 years old; hmm... that's what our Public Safety LOST (Local Option Sales Tax) takes 4 years to bring in.
---
With the build up of armored vehicles and ammunition by Homeland Security, how soon will it be before Judas 00-Barnum starts calling American patriots terrorists?
---
Soapbox moment: Will there come a time when our soldiers will have to use, (or be ordered to do so, anyway) their skills/training against US citizens? I hate to say it, but why is Homeland Security's forces being built up and provided with armored vehicles, and why is the Homeland Security draining the open market of ammunition? Fortunately, I have faith, and I do believe our soldiers will honor their country before turning on its citizens to please a political leader.
---
WRBL3 story: "ATLANTA (AP) - A judge plans to order that Martin Luther King Jr.'s bible and Nobel Peace Prize be placed in a safe deposit box controlled by the court pending the outcome of a legal dispute over who owns the items." -- I would just like to know if the IRS got its share of the capital gains taxes on all the proceeds the family sold to whoever has the current rights, and will IRS collect on theses items as well.
---
WRBL3 headline: "MCSD may get more money from state, but still underfunded due to rising costs" -- You know, budgets may be inadequate, budgets may be out of touch, but no budget is actually "underfunded". Budgets, especially budgets of political entities, should be zero-based on projected revenues. Politicians, even the courts, should also be forbidden to make "unfunded mandates" based on isolated issues.
---
Online story: "A University of Texas art history lecturer was checking her email last week when an unusual sender came up: The White House. * Enclosed was a scan of a handwritten apology letter from President Barack Obama for comments he made last month about art history degrees, which set off a flurry of objection for apparently devaluing the field." -- "scan of a handwritten apology letter"? How gauche! Judas 00-Barnum actually had an apology letter scanned and electronically delivered when he gets free postage, and owns his own Post Office Business? Good grief... Judas 00-Barnum is the headmaster of a 4-ring circus.
---
Online story: "SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A $687 million plan announced Wednesday is aimed at addressing the state's immediate and pressing drought concerns. * A look at how most of the latest money will be divvied up:
—$549 million for local and regional infrastructure grants including water conservation and recycling from voter-approved bond money
—$30 million for water efficiency and energy savings moved from greenhouse gas reduction fund
—$25.3 million for food assistance in drought-stricken areas from general fund
—$21 million for housing related assistance in drought-stricken areas from general fund
— $15 million to address emergency drinking water shortages from general fund
—$14 million for groundwater management, including for communities fighting contamination
—$13 million for conservation corps activities and wildfire prevention
—$10 million for water-saving irrigation and pumping systems from Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund" -- Hmmm, water. water, everywhere but nary a drop to drink... this is almost true. $687 Million is being spent but only $15 million is designated for emergency drinking water. California has a population of about 38,000,000. Let's see, that's about $0.39 cents of water per person. Even buying that at Sam's at 35 bottles for $4.00 will buy less than four pints per person. If I were a Californian, I might ask, demand the Governor to simply open a few dam gates.
---
Online story: "The Homeland Security Department abruptly reversed course Wednesday and dropped plans to ask a private company to give the government access to a nationwide database of license plate tracking information. * Before the notice was canceled, Gillian Christensen, an ICE spokeswoman, said the database "could only be accessed in conjunction with ongoing criminal investigations or to locate wanted individuals."" -- First - DHS wasn't going to peek at vehicles of ordinary citizens... yeah.. right.. then how could it track criminals who unknowingly would steal subsequent vehicles to hide their escapes? Secondly - "Gillian Christensen, an ICE spokeswoman"? How many spokespeople does DHS & ICE have or need?
---
Is there a conflict brewing in the white House? Michele is out promoting (though not by example) healthier eating choices , but Judas is promoting munchie encouraging legalized marijuana.
---
Passed on by a fellow BCer, the following link to the FDA concerning PPA (Phenylpropanolamine) should be of concern to you and your family:
---
Yesterday, the L-E ran an AP picture of a protester taking aim and shooting at a Kiev cop. Fox News showed a picture of a protester who's clothes and hair were on fire. How do photographers become so callused as to not put down their cameras and help people in trouble?
---
Kansas just passed a bill authorizing corporal punishment/paddling that is hard enough to leave bruising. Liberals are up in arms. One said the schools should simply call the student's parents. Well, parents should be called...after the punishment but what good is it to call parents before paddling since the problem probably wouldn't exist if parents paddled at home.
---
You know, there's more to the issue of liberals who want schools to call student's parents before paddling them. Most public schools have taken over the parental roles of most students, so they'd be calling themselves.
---
The World Clown Association says there's shortage of new people wanting to become clowns.. Huh? Guess the World Clown Association must not watch CNN, MSNBC, the liberal contributors on Fox News, or either of the C-SPAN stations.
---
Online quote source: "“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.” - Eric Thomas" -- Let this be your motivation, your inspitation, to get to the November 2014 elections.
---
Online story: "“No one owns the Chief position. It’s not for sale,” said acting Bloomfield Police Chief James Behre. The 27-year New Jersey police veteran was speaking at a Town Council meeting, discussing the political corruption he was urged to take part in. Less than 48 hours later, he received a letter from Township Administrator Ted Ehrenburg, relieving him of his duties. * People in unelected positions report to other officials – many of whom may have agendas – instead of simply to the people. This creates almost inherently corrupt positions, and Behre’s suspension shows what can happen to a qualified candidate who doesn’t play the game. Behre’s experiences should be at the back of every American’s mind when they see bureaucracies emerging" -- Hmmm, glad Sheriff Darr is elected, and Mayor Obamalinson can't replace him as she has with so many.
---
Obvious low info City employee voter's L-E "soundoff": " Employees are an investment, just like cars. You get what you pay for. The taxpayers of Columbus apparently would rather be served by Yugo city employees than by Cadillacs." -- Well, if we start hiring "Cadillacs", this writer would be the first to be told "you GO!"
---
L-E story: "Two American security officers have been found dead on a ship made famous when it was hijacked by Somali pirates, according to a statement by Seychelles police Wednesday. * The two Americans — Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy, both 44 — were found dead Tuesday in a cabin on the Maersk Alabama, according to the police. * The two men’s bodies were found on Tuesday in their cabin on the ship where it was berthed in Port Victoria in the Indian Ocean island nation of Seychelles. * The police gave no cause of death but said a post mortem has been scheduled." -- Hmmm, both men were former Navy SEALs. Them dying without a fight would be suspect to say the least. Glad our coroner wasn'y making the autopsy call.
---
Reading about the open use of marijuana and the abundance of minors on the scene of the murder at Majestic Sports Bar being spoken of so casually really emphasizes why crime is THE issue in our Mayoral race.
---
L-E editorial commentary: " An inmate named Anders Behring Breivik isn’t happy at his lockup in Stavanger, Norway. In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, Breivik is the malevolent cockroach who shot down a few dozen kids at a Norwegian summer camp in 2011. Now Breivik, calling his prison conditions “torture,” has threatened to go on a hunger strike until he gets access to video games, a sofa and a bigger gym. Perhaps Norwegian authorities should take a few months and think it over." -- Hmmm, Perhaps Norway can convince Judas 00-Barnum to let it send him to Gitmo.. the (_*_) would get his wish, Judas 00-Barnum would be happy, and Norway would be better off.
