More importantly… the high costs of construction are closely driven by two things…. INFLATION,, which his DemoKrat Party is the major influencer of rise in it, and state/local/federal regulations. I can give you two local examples of this: 1 - Currently, a new government apartment project is in the works at Veterans Parkway and Victory Drive… 1,000 +/- square foot apartments are costing taxpayers over $300,000.00 PER UNIT, but a privately owned area apartment complex of similarly sized apartments was constructed at a cost of less than HALF of that amount. 2 – A Foundation running a kids program at Godwin Creek Golf facility offered to build a new Golf Shop to replace the Columbus GA owned one.. It was to be a bare bones 1500/1600 square foot building (Counter and display space, office,  2 bathrooms, and snack area.. but NO KITCHEN). After a firm submitted a plan fulfilling Columbus codes/regulations, the contractor submitted a cost of between $320000-to-$350,000 (depending on final details). But it gets worse.. the City already owned the property so there was no land cost built into the construction “bid”, but even worse was that the contractor had to run a “perc” test for water drainage and would have to charge $16,500.00 to do the City version, when digging a hole with a shovel, pouring in a bucket of water, and waiting 30 minutes would have accomplished the same thing! Government is the CAUSE of high construction costs, not the solution.

Either way, that "grant money" is just money taken out of taxpayers' pockets that's spent on buying "goodwill" (and re-election) for Congresspersons with major donors...
