When I upgraded (questionable, at best) to Windows 7, most of my old MS software doesn't work with it. Just bought a newr MS Office version which consists on a single DVD disk for an astronomical price (especially since I had already paid for the version that doesn't work with Windows 7), but I noticed something really disturbing about the new software. It was marked "Made in Puerto Rico". Give us a break Mr Gates..how much can you be saving by outsourcing the copying of software to a single DVD disk to Puerto Rico instead of doing so here in the USA?

Franklin Township in Indiana recently sold all its school buses to an private company because of financial reasons, and the private company is going to charge families about $50.00 a month to transport the children to school. Great concept! Parental complaints are mostly based on inconvenience of parents working or children needing to be at different schools at the same time, but parents find ways to pay for day care, so why shouldn't they take responsibility to pay for transportation? The children will benefit if parents actually take their children to school because the kids won't have to endure the excessive amounts of time necessary for a bus to pick up all the children in the AM and to drop them off in the PM, and the tax dollars wasted on busing can now go into the classrooms. While it was a very emotional moment to see Rep. Giffords of Arizona cast her first vote since she was shot, we do have to wonder whether there wass any sort of testing done to check on her mental capacity to make a voting decision. AH! What am I thinking! There is no test for any Congressperson's mental capacity to make a valid decision. Just look at where the decisions of Pelosi, Rangel, Franken, Frank, Dodd the late Ted Kennedy et al DUMB&DUMBERats and DUMB&DUMBERat voters have taken us.

Mike Owen's column today was about our water. I sent the following e-missive to our Council and a couple of CWW Execs on July 25th, but none has responded:
What's going on with our water supply?
Last year, we noticed a red 'stain' build up in the toilets in our downtown business whenever we returned from a long weekend vacation and the toilets were not in use.
I asked our maintenance service about it, and he said it was from hard water. I didn't know our water was considered "hard", and wondered if the downtown area got its water differently than our residence.
This week, we got back from a vacation, and the red 'stain' was in our home toilets. What gives? Is the CWW processing the water differently than in the past? Would like to hear from someone who has any knowledge of any change in our water supply.

With the number of incoming freshman applicants from local schools being twice the available opening at CHS, holding open even a few slots for 'late applicants' is unacceptable. Denying even if 1 local applicant a spot because someone else might come in later who wants to go to CHS is a crime against a local taxpaying family.
What happens to those 'spots' if late applicants don't qualify as high as someone who applied early?

I do believe there should be a minimum liability for city services. I also believe there should be a MAXIMUM amount one should be taxed for the same services. I also believe all the state owned businesses (including and especially CSU) should be paying a fee for fire/police services.
