As you know from the briefing by our public works director at city council meeting on May 11, 2021 , we have a backlog in picking up yard waste as a result of personnel shortages (city employees and inmates) and equipment issues. To assist with the personnel and equipment shortage, at the request of the public works director, on May 25, 2021 City Council approved a 3rd Party Contractor to assist the Public Works Department in picking up yard waste debris at a cost of $150,000 monthly or $1.7M annually. This contractor will provide 5 trucks with a 3-man crew on each truck. The contractor will be responsible for 5 routes throughout the city working 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). This service will begin on June 21st at which time we will see substantial improvement.

 

Please know that we are working aggressively to clean up all yard waste as soon as possible. We continue to ask for your patience and understanding. We will have an additional update at City Council on Tuesday.

 

As of yesterday:

19 trucks down, 5 drivers just resigned and 3 supervisors have contracted COVID
Forestry and Right a Way Manager resigned yesterday for better opportunity.

There is still a contingent of the Party that want to blame Governor Kemp for Trump's, Perdue's, and Loeffler's losses in the General and Runoff Elections..Nothing is further from the truth. Only one state official, soon-to-be-EX-Secretary of State Raffensperger, had a real hand in setting up their losses by blanketing the state with absentee ballots, but the real "villains" were the Libertarians in the General Election" (they wasted over 62,000 votes for a never-had-a-chance Jorgensen) causing Trump to fall 12,000 votes shy of a victory, and in the main Senate race, Libertarians wasted over 115,000 votes on their "never had a chance Shane Hazel.. I don't know if you were watching golf Saturday, but it was surreal when a PGA official stepped up to John Rahm as he left the 18th green after shooting an 8-under par score to take a 6-shot lead.. and be told he had tested positive for Covid-19 and would have to resign.. The rest of the players SHOULD have ALL withdraw on he spot. I did not watch the tournament on Sunday. I had already quit my Internet PGA subscription when the PGA pulled a 2022 planned tournament scheduled at a Trump Course in NJ... and am about to eliminate all TV of PGA run events (Fortunately, the Masters, the US and British Opens, and Ryder Cup/Walker Cup competitions are not run by the PGA).
