After reading so much about statues and monuments to military men of 160+ years ago being torn down, and military bases named for such men, I got to thinking.. What about more recent politicians ... Senator Robert Byrd of WV to be specific... you know.. Resident Biden's "good buddy".....Here's some facts about Senator Byrd:

"While working as a butcher in the early 1940s, Byrd formed a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in Sophia, West Virginia. * In his 2005 book, Robert C. Byrd: Child of the Appalachian Coalfields, Byrd recalled how his ability to quickly recruit 150 of his friends to the group impressed a top Klan official who told him, “You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation.” * Flattered by the official's observation, Byrd continued his leadership role in the Klan and was eventually elected Exalted Cyclops of the local group. * As late as 1946, Byrd wrote to the Klan’s Grand Wizard: “The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.” * In 1964, Byrd led a filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965, * Byrd was the only member of the Senate to vote against the confirmations of both Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, the only two African-Americans nominated to the United States Supreme Court." -- Hmmm... Currently, there are at least 44 miscellaneous edifices in West Virginia that have been "named" for him...Byrd was the epitome of the Jim KKKrow era. Why haven't the Democrats sought to remove his name from those.. Oh! He was ONE OF THEM!

Like the current major police officer shortage that Columbus GA Council has turned a blind-eye to for the past 14-15 years, Council needs to look into the Tax Office as well... There is a huge construction project being built of about 340 apartments and townhouses on River Road on property "conveniently" zoned "RO" for a church in the area that sold it to a huge national firm, but the sale has not been posted in the Tax database... Recently, a new sign has been posted at the entrance designating it with new River Road address which is not something that can be done without he "number" being officially assigned by a Columbus official. What is Council trying hard to cover up... has some tax favor deal been made to the company?

---
Oh, Columbus, GA... got a partial answer to my being charged a "Liquor tax" I thought we had been charged on 2 glasses of wine during my bride's and my meal at Trevioli downtown a couple of weeks ago.. A Columbus official went there with a copy of the receipt and was told it was a charge for two Vodka drinks.. that's an issue I'm going back to check on because neither my bride or me drink vodka... we haven't imbibed in any alcoholic beverages except beer or wine in nearly 16 years... but that only addressed one aspect I brought to Council's attention.. I still want to know when restaurants were instructed to collect an additional "Liquor Tax" on top of the 9% sales taxes we pay.. I certainly vote on a new tax such as this, and I don't remember seeing a story about it... Also.. who GETS the additional tax revenue.. the City or State?

Online story: "Legislation to legalize sports betting in Georgia left for dead after Crossover Day in the General Assembly last week was brought back to life Thursday." --
Good grief! Having a "betting vice" legalized to "fund education" has always been .. at best.. an oxymoron, but including sports betting for additional "funding of education" is ridiculous.. if the state wants "more funding", just shut down the organized "bookies" and go after their unreported income.

---
WTVM-TV9 headline: "Organization to hold event to raise awareness of rise in Columbus GA gun violence" -- Hmmm... You know, RAISING awareness of gun violence is not the issue... LOWERING gun violence IS.

---
Columbus, GA media is still reporting a wrong number for current homicides in 2023 so far.. It's not 14.. it's 17.. Since that massacre weekend following Valentines Day, two bodies have been found, and a woman has been arrested for murder by intentionally running down a man of I-185... Get it right, Columbus GA media... keep Council focused!

---
Did you see Sec of Treasury Yellen-Hollerin' wiggle out of answering a Senator's question about whether a country bank of hard working people's money would have gotten the same relief as a bank filled with billionaire, Democrat donors' money? She was pathetic!

---
Read this story.. it's very pertinent all over America:
https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2960101695413-a-police-officer-makes-a-profound-statement-after-pulling-over-a-black-teen?_f=app_share&s=a3&share_destination_id=ODMwMTg0ODItMTY3OTA0NTI2ODIwMw%3D%3D&pd=05cKtmPm&hl=en_US&send_time=1679045268&actBtn=floatShareButton&trans_data=%7B%22platform%22%3A1%2C%22cv%22%3A%2223.11.0%22%2C%22languages%22%3A%22en%22%7D

The solution is self-evident... I've raised my children to always respect the police if pulled over... cooperate completely ... and if there is a challengeable issue, Court hearings are where it can be decided.

Online headline/story: "House Oversight chair questions $1.3 million in payments to Hunter Biden and relatives * They are alleged to have been paid after the associate, Rob Walker, was wired $3 million in March 2017 from a Chinese energy company affiliated with another company that Biden had been doing business with. The recipients of the $1.3 million in payments were Biden, his uncle James Biden and Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter's brother Beau Biden, Comer said" -- Hey... what about the "Big Guy's 10%"?

---
I didn't catch his name, but I was disgusted often broadcast video of one San Franciscan advocate's "suggestion" (well, more like "INSISTENCE) that the only way to stop youth violence and "smash & Dash" crimes is "REPARATIONS, REPARATIONS, REPARATIONS". I can think of many ways to stop such... like better parenting at home, unhand-cuffing the police officers, better crime prosecution by the DA's office, better jury decisions based on objective reasoning, and stronger sentencing decisions by judges...

Writer's Note: This item was "blocked" by Associated Press/Huffington Post for online discussion ("This comment violated our policy")... sorta proves it's "spot on".

Online "headLIE": "VP Harris' husband slammed for linking parents’ anger at school boards to Nazi-era 'hate’ * Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff said that he sees the 'hate' by parents at 'school meetings'" -- Hmmm... so Mr Chuckles "sees the 'hate' by parents at 'school meetings"? WRONG! What Mr Chuckles is seeing is a revolution by parents to stop schools from implanting their children's minds with Socialist indoctrination!

---
Hmmm... now we have Representative Maxine Waters, D-CA, a walking sequel to the "Mad Max" series, pointing her finger at Trump for the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank...Once again, it brings up the question of why the Democrats are still blaming everything on Trump...Well... it's because they still KNOW he is a viable candidate, and he won't be "surprised" at the Democrats' "ballot harvesting" tricks of 2020/2022... nor the fact that Trump won more states than Biden, and no sitting President EVER got as many votes as Trump did.

---
So San Francisco, california is going to consider $5,000,000.00 for each "qualifying" Blacks in the Frisco area.. I know they aren't going to give it each to of he 42,000 but what San Francisco doesn't realize is that tons of genealogists will find a way to connect every Black person to a "qualifier" (for a 'fee', of course). Hmmm... I'm about to bet on Senator Pocahontas Warren finding to show she's also a Black person...

Was looking at "qualifiers" for 2024 Council Post 10 At-Large elections, and found one that posted an error in his resident address.. Patrick Leonard has "qualified" for Columbus GA Council Post 10-at-Large in 2024, and gave the wrong street designation. Too boot, said property is owned by a LLC Corporation in New York City...

---
Another "qualifier" for Columbus, GA Council Post 10-At-Large is Travis Chambers, husband of our School Board Chairwoman...somehow this seems like there may be a conflict of interest... and possible collusion ... especially on property tax votes for exemptions, millage, and SPLOST/LOST issues...

Biden will work with Mexico on paying illegal aliens US wages, but won't demand Mexico to work with the US on the border issues. And if you do the n]math.. that $6.5 Million is about $500.00 per Mexican worker, and the lawyers haven't been paid yet.

Let's face it... the White House just bailed out Silicon Valley Bank.... one look at the list of Directors and major account holders shows the SVB connection with huge liberal political donors. You know.. when you look at the list of Directors, it seems to many are less qualified to be Bank Directors than Hunter Biden was to be a Director of Burisma Energy in Ukraine..

---
Hey, Columbus, GA Council... the sale of 25 + acres on River Road still hasn't been updated in the City's tax database.. ---
And what about GA Power Company.. all of a sudden they haven't been billed for heir 2022 taxes and the tax database shows no payments have been received.

From the "if you think Biden is bad, we coulda had Warren" department - Got an e-mail from Sen Pocahontas yesterday, and she's suddenly become the guru of banking... now it's Trump's fault that the Silicon Valley Bank failed.. She said her "legislation repeals a key piece of Trump's bill, which eased regulations on banks that controlled assets ranging from $50 billion to $250 billion. I don’t know about you, but to me a minimum of $50 billion in assets is not pocket change, and needs to be strongly regulated." -- Hmmm.. so to her, $50 Billion is not "pocket change"... wait a minute... didn't Warren sign 3 different TRILLION DOLLAR giveaway bills without hesitating an iota about how many billions that was?

Again... let's see a list of names.. and the amount of money they had ?\"invested" in Silicon Valley Bank... bet it's a list of "Who's Who" who were going Boo-hoo until Biden bailed then out.

---
Looks like Resident Biden learned how to "draw lines in the sand" from Obama! Remember how Obama drew a line in the sand with Syria's President was Bashar AssWad... and when AssWad crossed one line, Obama would draw ANOTHER line.. well. until Obama was backed up and out of the picture? I think Putin just stepped over the line Biden drew.

However, it has become clear that the best way I can ensure justice is served in this case is to step down so that the prosecution can focus on the evidence and the facts, which clearly show a complete disregard for basic safety protocols led to the death of Halyna Hutchins. So....all the Democrats on the House Committee discussing the current border and immigration issues are going to boycott this week's meeting there because ...because the Republicans 'are playing politics'... That's funny coming from Pastor Warnock...who;s never seen a 10 Commandment he believes in.... but it was the $100 Million dollars of "dark, out-of-state character assassination ads" that put Warnock back in... if Walker had been willing..... and able.. to do that with Warnock's "flaws", then Warnock would have lost.

We wanted the 100 new officer 15 years ago to get us up to near 500, and now we learn active police officer staff in UNDER 300, and the Chief wants to get the staff up OVER 500... There are a lot people happy DeSantis will run because he's "Trump Policies" without the "Trump Personality"... Let me warn you... if DeSantis does become the Republican nominee, MSM will go after him as.... or more... fervently... viciously .. than Trump. Until then you don't know who DeSantis "is".. What will be best bet for America is to have Trump and DeSantis on the same ticket.. with Trump as President..then DeSantis in 2028 and 2032.

Another body was found on 5th Avenue here in Columbus, GA on Sunday afternoon... this is in addition to another body found last week off Woodruff Road. Looks like homicide number 17 for 2023...

---
Columbus L-E headline: "Muscogee Coroner forced to use U-Haul to transport bodies, blames outdated equipment" -- 14 homicides? The L-E must not be adding in the two recent bodies "found" , or the "hit & run, vehicular homicide". The other issues... old equipment, antiquated work conditions, and overload from surrounding areas are money allocation issues not addressed properly by mayors/Councils, past and present... and I don't remember any money from the last $400 Million dollar SPLOST being aimed at any Coroner issues.... needs.

Online headline/story: "Muscogee Co. School District holds ribbon cutting for new family resource center * Now, there is a designated space for parents, students, and staff to connect. Chief Student Services Officer, Dr. Angela Vickers-Ward, explain why a connection like this helps serve the Muscogee County School District family. * A lot of times, parents don’t necessarily want to go to the school and they want to go to a place that’s neutral ground and so with that being said we have a place for them.”" -- "parents don’t necessarily want to go to the school"? Whoa! The disconnect has been because kids are bused out of neighborhoods, so parents aren't involved with getting their children to school, and schools don't encourage parents to be involved! Years ago, I volunteered as a substitute teacher at Columbus JR High (now a Senior Living Facility on 29th St).. and the first class I taught was an 8th Grade General (remedial) Math class. During some class "busy work" assigned by the "regular teacher", I noticed a child "skipping" certain problems (division with a 3-digit divisor) and asked him about "why".. He said the teacher told him he "didn't have to do those because he didn't know how". I looked at the notes the teacher had for the substitute teacher, and there it was,, a note saying "Charles" ((not real name) wasn't expected to do those problems. I stooped beside him, and worked 1-on-1 with him .. he stumbled through the first problem until he got the correct answer.. then he slowly applied what he had just learned and solved the second problem by himself.. You should have seen him "light up" when I congratulated him in front of his peers! He went on to solve the 3 remaining problems he originally skipped. During my "break period", I went and asked the principal for the student's parents number and called. His mother answered, and I explained that the teacher wasn't doing right by her son, and that she needed to come have a conversation with her and the principal.. She seemed overjoyed that the school was taking a personal interest in her son... then she floored me.. she asked where her son's school was located! He'd been going there a year and a half, and she didn't know where it was. Parents NEED to be EXPECTED to participate in.. and support.. the schools their children attend.. At a minimum, more emphasis at getting better parent involvement in the PTAs and teacher meetings AT the schools needs to be encouraged... maybe even demanded!

Online headline: 'GOP senators pushed to keep banking rules loose one week before SVB collapse" -- Good grief! Talk about trying to "pass the buck"! Obviously Harry Truman is not a role model for Resident Biden and his White House "handlers"! Online half-truth story: " Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is proposing changes to entitlement programs for younger generations, C." -- " Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is proposing changes to entitlement programs for younger generations, opening the door to potential cuts to Social Security and Medicare if elected."? What's really endangering the system is that the "lockbox" Algore was secure had had it's lock picked by the Democrats! Some $6 Trillion dollars has been "borrowed" by Democrat Congresses for government program use, but no plan for repaying it is on the books...

From the "of course they are lying" department - Online headline/story: "Newest political party on ballot in three states has Democrats terrified * No Labels on 2024 ballot in three states; Dems warn 'unity ticket' really a 'spoiler' to Biden's reelection * No Labels, a group that claims to want to give voters a non-extreme presidential option next year, has gained enough support to appear on 2024 presidential election ballots in Colorado, Arizona and Oregon. Criticism of the group varies between those calling it a blatant effort to hurt President Joe Biden's reelection chances to those calling it outright grift." -- "a blatant effort to hurt President Joe Biden's reelection chances"? Good grief...Democrats are gonna vote for Democrats regardless of who it is... just look at Fetterman in Pennsylvania last November.. for that matter, look at Biden in to 2020 election..so any 3rd option on the ballots is meant to take votes away from independents who don't want to vote for the Republican choice...

Online "headlie": "Alec Baldwin's attorney, Alex Spiro, told First Judicial District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer at a Thursday hearing in New Mexico that his legal team, as part of its discovery, wanted to see the gun that killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. * Except there's one problem — Spiro said the state destroyed the gun, but the state refuted the assertion. * "The court, I don't think, is aware at this point, but I think I should tell the court that the firearm in this case was destroyed by the state," Spiro said during the virtual hearing. "So, that’s obviously an issue and we’re going to have to see that firearm, or what’s left of it." * "The gun Alec Baldwin used in the shooting that killed Halyna Hutchins has not been destroyed by the state. I'm about to write off Uptown Columbus, GA restaurants! Went Trevioli's Friday a week ago, and when I got my bill, it included a "liquor tax" and pre-charged "tip", both based on the cost of food and beverages plus the 9% taxes ... We... and I'm meaning everybody who eats there are being "charged" a "liquor tax" (being investigated now as to the legality of it) and "tip" computation on prices that include the taxes. And Sunday, a week ago, we went to Vertigo for lunch and we're met with a menu that presumes you will use a CREDIT card so the menu prices have a 4% upcharge over cash. As it was an impromptu after church family meal, I wasn't carrying enough cash for 6, so I used my debit card (versus CREDIT card) and still had to pay Vertigo's CREDIT card prices. If other Uptown restaurants DON'T use either of these policies, let me know, and we'll still use you.

The White House must be in panic mode....they sent out Marie Harf (a.k.a. Marie BARF), their top BSer all last week to control the Democrat rhetoric on Fox's "Outnumbered". What's "affordable housing"? When a person cannot afford the price to buy it nor maintain it themselves, and has to accept handouts from a government program that makes other homeowners have to pay more in taxes than they should have to pay to the government who gives it to others is NOT AFFORDABLE HOUSING! Of course. all housing would be more affordable with less crime costs, less taxes, and less regulations controlling construct costs!

---
Online headline: "Trump made me do it: Liberal media blames its dismissal of lab leak theory on ex-president's 'xenophobia'" -- You know... Benning". I'm real surprised Col. Moore or his family would agree with this.. It's ironically and satirically funny that so much "to do" was made in 2018 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Ft Benning, and now politicians want to "cancel and erase it".

---
Online headline: "These 14 Democratic senators broke with Biden and voted against striking down the DC criminal code" -- What's interesting is that the new "dangerousness" is attributable to "undocumented transients" that came (or were bused courtesy of Texas Governor Abbott) to Washington, DC, and Democrat Congresspersons are having to deal with the reality of the open border they created as they claim that the border is "secure".

WRBL-TV3 headline: "City Councilor speaks out on violence in Columbus, GA" -- An interesting question needs to be asked... and answered: Recent "figuring" indicates that we only have between 8 and 14 officers on street patrol during any one shift here in Columbus, GA, and not too long ago , we had 36...what has happened .. or is happening to all those cars that obviously aren't used/needed?

---
Already I've thought about another question... I remember when Columbus, GA patrol officers were not allowed to take their "take home" vehicles out of Muscogee County if they lived in another county, but now they can...or do. I remember the purpose was two-fold... One was a perk for our officers, but the other was to give visual presence of a police officer in Columbus neighborhoods. Taking those cars to other counties.. or possibly to another state defeats one of the main reasons for the program.

They try to claim that the Civil War was about states’ rights, but that is a dishonest argument because the “states' rights” they’re referring to is the right to own slaves." -- You know.. the Civil War was about the Constitution... the same Constitution that gives Rhein the floor to display his historical ignorance and lack of vision...When the Civil War began, like it or not... slavery was NOT ILLEGAL, and without the South's secession and war, slavery may have continued for decades longer. Think about it... slavery was not stopped because Congress "won a war" or "passed a new law", slavery was outlawed because the American people looked into their hearts and passed a Constitutional Amendment to stop it! America is the greatest, most unique, and longest form of continuous government in history!

Why doesn't "Feeding the Valley" just try to raise the $5.7 Million to attain food to dispense? Hmmm... another more than pertinent question: Aren't we in the middle of food chain shortages.... why does Feeding the Valley want to expand construction costs are high and when food shortages are going to be with us for the next few years?
