After reading so much about statues and monuments to military men of 160+ years ago being torn down, and military bases named for such men, I got to thinking.. What about more recent politicians ... Senator Robert Byrd of WV to be specific... you know.. Resident Biden's "good buddy".....Here's some facts about Senator Byrd:

"While working as a butcher in the early 1940s, Byrd formed a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in Sophia, West Virginia. * In his 2005 book, Robert C. Byrd: Child of the Appalachian Coalfields, Byrd recalled how his ability to quickly recruit 150 of his friends to the group impressed a top Klan official who told him, “You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation.” * Flattered by the official's observation, Byrd continued his leadership role in the Klan and was eventually elected Exalted Cyclops of the local group. * As late as 1946, Byrd wrote to the Klan’s Grand Wizard: “The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.” * In 1964, Byrd led a filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965, * Byrd was the only member of the Senate to vote against the confirmations of both Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, the only two African-Americans nominated to the United States Supreme Court." -- Hmmm... Currently, there are at least 44 miscellaneous edifices in West Virginia that have been "named" for him...Byrd was the epitome of the Jim KKKrow era. Why haven't the Democrats sought to remove his name from those.. Oh! He was ONE OF THEM!

Like the current major police officer shortage that Columbus GA Council has turned a blind-eye to for the past 14-15 years, Council needs to look into the Tax Office as well... There is a huge construction project being built of about 340 apartments and townhouses on River Road on property "conveniently" zoned "RO" for a church in the area that sold it to a huge national firm, but the sale has not been posted in the Tax database... Recently, a new sign has been posted at the entrance designating it with new River Road address which is not something that can be done without he "number" being officially assigned by a Columbus official. What is Council trying hard to cover up... has some tax favor deal been made to the company?

Oh, Columbus, GA... got a partial answer to my being charged a "Liquor tax" I thought we had been charged on 2 glasses of wine during my bride's and my meal at Trevioli downtown a couple of weeks ago.. A Columbus official went there with a copy of the receipt and was told it was a charge for two Vodka drinks.. that's an issue I'm going back to check on because neither my bride or me drink vodka... we haven't imbibed in any alcoholic beverages except beer or wine in nearly 16 years... but that only addressed one aspect I brought to Council's attention.. I still want to know when restaurants were instructed to collect an additional "Liquor Tax" on top of the 9% sales taxes we pay.. I certainly vote on a new tax such as this, and I don't remember seeing a story about it... Also.. who GETS the additional tax revenue.. the City or State?

Online story: "Legislation to legalize sports betting in Georgia left for dead after Crossover Day in the General Assembly last week was brought back to life Thursday." --
Good grief! Having a "betting vice" legalized to "fund education" has always been .. at best.. an oxymoron, but including sports betting for additional "funding of education" is ridiculous.. if the state wants "more funding", just shut down the organized "bookies" and go after their unreported income.

WTVM-TV9 headline: "Organization to hold event to raise awareness of rise in Columbus GA gun violence" -- Hmmm... You know, RAISING awareness of gun violence is not the issue... LOWERING gun violence IS.

---
Columbus, GA media is still reporting a wrong number for current homicides in 2023 so far.. It's not 14.. it's 17.. Since that massacre weekend following Valentines Day, two bodies have been found, and a woman has been arrested for murder by intentionally running down a man of I-185... Get it right, Columbus GA media... keep Council focused!

Did you see Sec of Treasury Yellen-Hollerin' wiggle out of answering a Senator's question about whether a country bank of hard working people's money would have gotten the same relief as a bank filled with billionaire, Democrat donors' money? She was pathetic!

Read this story.. it's very pertinent all over America:
https://www.newsbreak.com/news/2960101695413-a-police-officer-makes-a-profound-statement-after-pulling-over-a-black-teen?_f=app_share&s=a3&share_destination_id=ODMwMTg0ODItMTY3OTA0NTI2ODIwMw%3D%3D&pd=05cKtmPm&hl=en_US&send_time=1679045268&actBtn=floatShareButton&trans_data=%7B%22platform%22%3A1%2C%22cv%22%3A%2223.11.0%22%2C%22languages%22%3A%22en%22%7D

The solution is self-evident... I've raised my children to always respect the police if pulled over... cooperate completely ... and if there is a challengeable issue, Court hearings are where it can be decided.

Online headline/story: "House Oversight chair questions $1.3 million in payments to Hunter Biden and relatives * They are alleged to have been paid after the associate, Rob Walker, was wired $3 million in March 2017 from a Chinese energy company affiliated with another company that Biden had been doing business with. The recipients of the $1.3 million in payments were Biden, his uncle James Biden and Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter's brother Beau Biden, Comer said" -- Hey... what about the "Big Guy's 10%"?

I didn't catch his name, but I was disgusted often broadcast video of one San Franciscan advocate's "suggestion" (well, more like "INSISTENCE) that the only way to stop youth violence and "smash & Dash" crimes is "REPARATIONS, REPARATIONS, REPARATIONS". I can think of many ways to stop such... like better parenting at home, unhand-cuffing the police officers, better crime prosecution by the DA's office, better jury decisions based on objective reasoning, and stronger sentencing decisions by judges...

Writer's Note: This item was "blocked" by Associated Press/Huffington Post for online discussion ("This comment violated our policy")... sorta proves it's "spot on".
