Is it about being a Republican or Democrat, or is it about being a good Christian neighbor? The next time a traveling troupe comes to the River Center or Springer for a couple of performances about :The Grinch", maybe they could get Kennon to be its guest star. Removing the dead tree, would probably make his rental proerty more attractive and rentable.

I thought only TV stations ran reruns. In addition to cheap journalism, Mustian should be tried for he comments about Hubbard's daughter being chewed out by Dodelin. I think no jury would have any difficulty for convicting Mustian for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Should Newt win the presidency, where is the MCSD going to put a marker showing where he went to Baker High?

Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If someone would pay me a million dollars a year, I would happily write a check to the treasury for 30 percent. " -- That's just the beginning of the tax, and the feds want more than the 30%. Then the state wants it's share, and the City is going after your property tax and for paying all the SPLOST & LOST taxes along with the states 4% sales taxes (and 5% if the state can get it's T-SPLOST passed). Liberals don't know jack nor taxes.
---
L-E story about the Oakland, CA "Occupy" arrests: "In a news release Sunday, the Occupy Oakland Media Committee criticized the police conduct, saying that most of the arrests were made illegally because police failed to allow protesters to disperse. " -- Maybe that's true, even OK in handling protesters, but conditions change when the protesters become criminals. You'd think they'd learn that in college...well, not in 'those' colleges. It does help explain why the protesters can't find jobs in the real world, though.

Online headline: "Iraq War Parade: St. Louis Hosts First End-Of-War Celebration " -- Well, well, well, voters of a 'flyover' state just dislodged New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, LA et al as our country's best city.

Whatta hypocrite !!!!! potUS O'Blather, the same potUS O'Blather that stopped the Keystone XL pipeline, the same potUS O'Blather that has strangled development of ANWAR and other US oil reserves, the same potUS O'Blather that has forever indebted our future to the Chinese and is sitting back as the Chinese start drilling less than 60 miles from US borders in the Gulf while prohibiting US companies from doing the same, has now come out yelling campaign-style for the US companies to drill more. potUS O'Blather....where?

Online story: A 16 year old 'atheist', along with the ACLU, filed suit against her Rhode Island high school concerning a prayer that has been displayed at her school for 49 years (actually written by a student at the time), and a federal judge agreed with her and ordered it taken down. In a surprise move, the local school board has decided to fight the suit (imagine that being done here... not!). Here is the prayer:
Our Heavenly Father,
Grant us each day the desire to do our best,
To grow mentally and morally as well as physically,
To be kind and helpful to our classmates and teachers,
To be honest with ourselves as well as with others,
Help us to be good sports and smile when we lose as well as when we win,
Teach us the value of true friendship,
Help us always to conduct ourselves so as to bring credit to Cranston High School West.
Amen

The student (and probably her parents), the ACLU, and the federal judge are sick and have too much time on their hands.

Representative Allen West, R-FL is the liberals worst nightmare... a conservative Black Republican. At a dinner in West Palm Beach, West laid out this worthy suggestion: "We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, (audience boos) and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain't on the table," West said. "Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America." * Former Harry Reid spokesman Jim Manley twittered back in response: "Me to allen west. You first asshole" -- Suspicions confirmed. Reid and his entourage are 'big Twits'.

L-E storystory: "Work on the 14th Street bridge is slightly behind schedule, but the project should still be finished by the fall, Deputy City Manager David Arrington said. * “They’re running a little bit behind schedule because of design changes,” he said recently. * He said the design changes have not impacted the cost of the $5.2 million project." -- "changes have not impacted the cost"? If you believe that, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

L-E headline: "Mayor clarifies mechanism to add sunset to tax freeze" -- You know, trying to get around the will of the people... it's always a DIM&DUMBERat thing, This is what you get for voting for Mayor Obamalinson. Make sure you don't do it again.

---

Jim Mustian..cheap journalist = cheap yellow journalism.

L-E story: "DuBose led the local branch of the NAACP before moving to the state conference. His most recent efforts focused on opposing the execution of Troy Davis and supporting the SOA Watch protesters who gather annually in Columbus to close the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, the former School of the Americas." -- Now tell me again, what has DuBose accomplished that makes him worthy of NAACP leadership?

---

L-E story: "Georgia lawmakers filed a state constitutional amendment this week that would give state authorities the power to both create charter schools and move public funding from schools districts into those charter schools. * Amending Georgia’s constitution requires a two-thirds vote from lawmakers in both the House and Senate. Afterward, it would have to be approved by Georgia voters. " -- How come Mayor Obamalinson thinks the GA Constitutional Amendment used to legalize the Columbus tax freeze is 'different'?

---

L-E editorial comment: "Even before the deep cuts in military spending were announced as part of the federal budget deficit reduction plan, the greater Columbus community was already downsizing its expectations. BRAC growth has been happening, just not as much or as fast as we expected." -- With one major exception... the MCSD. Witness the latest new school ground breaking.

Leonard Pitts is still the pits. How is it that someone who is paid to share his 'wisdom (?)' is so racist that he thinks any comment about people in poverty is a racist remark aimed at, and limited to, blacks? That's racism at its worst.

Online story: "A Republican member of the Indiana General Assembly withdrew his bill to create a pilot program for drug testing welfare applicants Friday after one of his Democratic colleagues amended the measure to require drug testing for lawmakers. * "There was an amendment offered today that required drug testing for legislators as well and it passed, which led me to have to then withdraw the bill," said Rep. Jud McMillin (R-Brookville), sponsor of the original welfare drug testing bill." -- I think this would have been a good addition since so much government spending looks/sounds/feels like it was originated amongst a group of drunken sailors with stolen credit cards.
---
From the 'suspicions confirmed' department - Online story: "The Chicago Crime Commission released an updated book about Chicago gangs this week, which reveals that the Windy City has more gang members than any other U.S. city." -- Yep, and their top Chicago "Community Organizer" now sits in the White House.
---
L-E story: "Obama puts colleges on notice about tuition * Failure to rein in prices would risk federal funds" -- Like all DIM&DUMBERats, potUS O'Blather feels "federal funds" are his, and his to spend as he wishes. He's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Friday, January 27, 2012

Why are DIM&DUMBERats commenting on what the Republican candidates comments now? Shouldn't they just quietly take notes in preparation for the General Election? You'd think so, but the D&Ds just have to try to control everything about everyone else's lives.
---
I've been wondering what will become of the bodies of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi when they die? With as much Botox as both have in them, the EPA will have to step in and keep them from being buried for fear of groundwater toxification or being cremated for fear of air pollution. Ah! They have so much preservatives in them, Madame Tussard could probably just add them to her museum as is without having to make a wax double.
---
From ABC's Diane Sawyer interview: "Obama said he wants a second term "badly" because he thinks "the country needs it." He criticized the Republican candidates vying to be his 2012 opponent, saying that ultimately the GOP nominee would be "a standard bearer for a vision of the country that I don't think reflects who we are." -- "the GOP nominee would be "a standard bearer for a vision of the country that I don't think reflects who we are"? Who does potUS O'Blather consider "we"? Certainly not the actually working, taxpaying, job creating patriots!
---
From same interview headline: "Obama admits mistake". -- Finally, now if we can just get those who voted for him in 2008 to admit that , too.

From July 29, 2011 Mike Owen article:
"Mayor Teresa Tomlinson says there is a simple reason why promoter Mike Blackwell is not entitled to the $26,000 he claims the city owes him for tickets allegedly taken by the former Civic Center director. The promoter knew what was going on and tacitly agreed to former Director Dale Hester’s taking of the tickets in exchange for getting lower rent on the facility and its amenities, according to the mayor." -- This proof positive that the Mayor Obamalinson knows that the free tickets are payment to the City, and that giving them away free to Councilors and other City employees is a crime...and all who received them should be reimbursing the City or face charges of receiving stolen property.!
---
Correction: Slight modification from an expert-on-the-subject BCer: "There is no Armor Division at Ft Benning. What Ft Benning does have is the Armor School which is a big difference." -- I guess the difference is we actually do have more 'noise' than 'boys'.

---
L-E headline: "Columbus pulling together 'battle plan' as Pentagon proposes deep cuts" -- Well, Columbus could win. After the dust settles of potUS O'Blather's 'downsizing', Columbus will probably have more men and more guns and more Generals than what Ft Benning will have left.

Arbor Pointe... per the head of the Columbus Housing Authority, is a 'community' versus a 'housing project'. Why do people in the public sector want to keep people on the public dole for all of their lives? Nice, clean public housing is a community benefit as a place for families to have as the family works to improve its condition that it can achieve the American dream of owning its own home. The goal of Columbus Housing Authority should be to work with its renters to get them out of public maintained public housing rather than keep them in it for life.

HuffPost headline: "John Boehner Cries At Gabby Giffords' Resignation" -- Only libs would criticize such an honest display. What would the HuffPost said had he not shed a tear?

Whatta support plan for our military.... NOT! potUs O'Blather has patted himself for taking our troops off the streets of Iraq, but seems happy to put 80,000 of them out on the street back home. Seeing this, what's the incentive for out troops in Afghanistan to wrap things up?
---
Bringing the Armored Division to Ft Benning while cutting back on Infantry numbers will mean that Columbus has literally "replaced the boys with noise"

From L-E story on Council meetings: "
Thomas said evening meetings are hard on the city government department heads, who have to attend the meetings. That means 12-hour days for some of them. * Tomlinson proposed trying the increasing the work sessions before considering meeting four times.
* Councilor Woodson asked if the department heads get overtime for long days. * City Manager Isaiah Hugley said no, they’re salaried, so they don’t get overtime. * Comp time? Woodson asked. * No. No comp time, either, Hugley said." -- What is it with these people? Salaries were raised years ago to compete with similar private sector responsibilities (which now should have the City reducing pay levels as the private sector has been forced to do), but now the City is complaining about the work ethics of the private sector; you get the job done regardless of the hours needed!
---
L-E headline: "Officials break ground on new middle school in Midland" -- In 1959, the MCSD had 32,000 students; in 1990, the MCSD had 32,000 students, in 2011-12 the MCSD has 32,000 students. With Ft Benning probably losing more soldiers than was gained under BRAC, maybe the MCSD needs to do a little more real time planning before adding more schools. How about just using that $19+ Million to keep our existing facilities in shape so they can work for another 20 years?

L-E headline/story: " Mail-in absentee voting for primary starts in Muscogee County * Columbus will have two polling sites for early voting. --It's a primary...why should the taxpayers have to pay for the costs of early voting for a primary?

Lets look at who's greedy? The Fed is keeping interest rates so low to protect potUS O'Blather's back, and by doing so, interest on savings accounts stays at less than 1%. Say you have $1,000.00 in a savings account, and you get about $10.00 in interest payment from your bank. But wait, even at the unrealistic acknowledged inflation rate of 3%, your $1,000.00 is worth only $970.00 . Doesn't sound like such a good deal does it, but wait, there's more. The Feds now will tax you for 15% of that $10.00 interest you collected.!

L-E headline: "Islamists, liberals square off in Egypt" -- Makes you wonder what liberals consider to be liberal. Next to an Islamist, Ron Paul, and Pat Robertson are liberals.
---
L-E headline/story: "Georgia to debate easing drunk driving convictions * ATLANTA — People convicted of drunk driving who stay out of serious motor vehicle trouble for five years could have their records wiped clean under a bill proposed in Georgia." -- Well, I guess the GA Legislature wants to clean up the profiles of those who will use the drive-thru window when they buy their alcohol on Sundays.
---
L-E headline/story: "Ga. scientists win grant to study glacier carbon * Researchers Aron Stubbins and Marc Frischer of the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography in Savannah were awarded the $224,000 grant by the National Science Foundation. * Some believe the carbon was scraped up by glaciers crossing over ancient forests. The Georgia scientists think otherwise, saying it might have formed from the combustion of fossil fuels and biomass in the atmosphere" -- $224.000.00 because some GA scientists believe something different? Bet they have claimed they got the idea from playing on the glaciers in their childhood backyards that supply the Savannah River.

L-E story: "DEDHAM, Mass. — A lawyer for an Alabama professor (Amy Bishop) who could be executed for allegedly killing three colleagues (at U of A-Huntsville) asked a judge Wednesday to keep a report into the 1986 killing of her brother secret, arguing it could prejudice a jury against her. " -- Huh? Millions, maybe BILLIONS were spent on Alexander Memorial Coliseum in preparation for the 1996 Olympics, and now it has to be closed for to be rebuilt? What taxpayer waste!

Online story: "President Obama delivered a fiery State of the Union speech in which he had tough words for Congress, Wall Street and China." -- Yep, potUS O'Blather pointed his 'finger of fault' at everyone but himself.
---
The only legacy potUS O'Blather will really leave is that "Hail to the Chief" will be replaced by "Man in the Mirror" as the official presidential song.
---
If potUS O'Blather is so determined that everyone pay a fair share of taxes, why did he initiate the blatantly discriminatory 'indoor tanning tax'?
---
Yesterday was a landmark date... 1,000 days....... Almost 3 years. It's been that long since Congress has operated on budget. Even with two full years with super majorities in both Houses, the DIM&DUMBERats could not, no, would not confirm a budget which the public could hold Congress responsible for.

Regardless of which candidate gets the most voted in the FL Republican Primary, 100% will be voting for someone other than potUS O'Blather as their next president.

potUS O'Blather said he wanted to eliminate companies that made exorbitant and crippling consumer loans. He just lost the Trial and Consumer Relief Lawyer Associations' votes.

I saw what appeared to be a government tagged medical transport van (non-ambulance) from Clay County, GA here in Columbus yesterday. I wish I could have followed it to see where it was going as it didn't look like it was headed to any of our hospitals. Ft Gaines is 75/80 miles from Columbus and closer to Albany, GA so why was it in Columbus at all?
---
potUSA O'Blather also asked businesses to think of ways to bring back jobs that have been sent overseas. Hmmmm, how about vote only Republican in November!
---
potUS O'Blather also said it was time to stop rewarding companies that sent jobs overseas. Well, even if he sent such a bill to the Senate, Harry Reid would not let it come to a vote.
---
Speaking of Harry Reid's stranglehold on Senate legislation, potUS O'Blather's messenger boy, VP 'don't mess with Joe' Biden is the president of the Senate. Why doesn't 'don't mess with Joe' do his job?
---
potuS O'Blather claims that since he's put more 'boots on the ground' along the Mexican border, fewer illegal aliens have crossed over to get jobs. Hmmm, excuse me....but the fact that there aren't jobs available has stemmed the flow.
---
About the only way potUS O'Blather can win in November would be for him to be listed as "Barry Soetoro" on the ballots.
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama used Tuesday's State of the Union address to lay out a vision of America in which everybody gets a fair shot at economic success and everybody -- including the wealthy -- plays by the same rules as the average citizen." -- Let's start with applying all the rules Washington passes to all Washington politicians, including potUS O'Blather.
---
Mitch Daniels hit more home runs last night than Barry Bonds did in a career.
---
The only job creation mentioned by potUS O'Blather was a new financial crimes Tsar/Commission. Just more government jobs to spend more government money that the government doesn't have to spend.
---
As for Social Security eligibility, most people who have become millionaires, if given the chance/choice, would gladly drop out of receiving checks when they retire in exchange for being dropped from having to pay anymore taxes into the system.

The next time any state or local entity wants us to invoke another LOST/spLOST/t-LOST on us, vote "GET-LOST".

Why not just make it that the shelter's do neutering prior to the adoption, and the adopting family just pay the $50 extra dollars. Win-win. Like so many 'regulations' imposed by government, the regulations are more about getting fine revenue rather than actual compliance.
---
L-E headline: "President Obama focuses on income inequality in annual address" -- Yeah, he's paid much more than he's worth.
---
L-E headline: "Obama on mission to revive American dream " -- Yeah, but only after repeated attempts at a knock-out punch.
---
Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If you work, pay taxes and insurance premiums and have a small savings account, you have nothing to fear if President Obama is re-elected. However, if you are rich, you’ll have to start paying your fair share. " -- Huh? ""If you work (for a non-government entity), pay taxes and insurance premiums and have a small savings account," you are not about to vote to re-elect potUS O'Blather!
---
Another liberal's L-E "soundoff": "If taxes are too high, as many politicians claim, how can sports stars, entertainers, congressmen and Wall Streeters accumulate multi-million fortunes in just a few years? "
-- Easy, earn hundreds of millions and end up with a few millions.

That was a pretty cheap shot that Chuck Williams took at Newt yesterday. Newt's never been a DIM&DUMBERat. The late Senator Byrd would have been a much better analogy for old Gov. Wallace.

Online story: "TAMPA, FLA. -- The most important moment of Monday night's presidential debate -- the first in the crucial state of Florida -- may have come before any candidate actually took the stage. * Prior to the camera rolling, NBC, the debate's host, told audience members to hold their applause. It was not an agreed-to rule among the candidates themselves." -- If NBC thinks this is a good idea, how about they mute the sound and don't show pictures of the Congressional DIM&DUMBERats at potUS O'Blather's State of the Union speech tonight.
---
Speaking of potUS O'Blather's State of the Union speech tonight, I predict he'll confidently say he has the backing of the Union leadership. You know, maybe the Union states are the extra 7 'states' he was talking about having had campaigned in during the 2008 election.
---
From L-E story: "Garner, 19, faces two misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct and one misdemeanor count of pointing a pistol at another in connection with the shooting inside a Celia Drive home. * The juvenile then identified Garner as the shooter * Garner, interviewed at the Columbus Public Safety Center, then admitted to firing the gun, the detective added. * The gun has not been recovered, Carter said. * Cielinski dismissed the weapons charge against Garner after public defender Charles Lykins argued his client legally couldn’t face the accusation. * Someone must be charged with a felony for them also to be charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Garner, who remained in jail Monday evening, faces no felony charges." -- Huh? Isn't possession of an unregistered gun a felony? Isn't firing at and hitting someone a felony? Isn't tampering with evidence and a crime scene a felony? If a gun has been used in a shooting and the shooter has 'ditched' the gun before the police arrive, why not withhold any bond until the shooter accurately tells the police where he ditched the gun?
---
From Chuck Williams column: "It hit home for me Thursday night when Gingrich took apart CNN anchor John King during a debate in South Carolina. Gingrich was in full control as he slashed King for having the audacity to question him about a marital issue broached by one of Gingrich’s ex-wives."-- John King got what he deserved. He chose exactly what question he asked. IF King had simply opened with a question such as this, "Mr Gingrich, ABC aired an interview with your ex-wife, but did not give you a rebuttal opportunity. Would you like to respond to this before we begin the debate?, then the response Gingrich made would have been addressed to ABC rather than the tabloid-type question King chose to ask.

A report says that attendance at Ivy League schools is in decline. Guess when parents saw their children on the steps of their businesses in Occupy Wall Street because their high price education hasn't qualified them for a job, then those parents started looking at other schools for their other children.......

Reports are that since our troops have been removed from Iraq, that the Iraqi government is going downhill fast. Oh, so now that our troops are back on our soil, maybe their presence will have the reverse effect on our government.

I thought I had read that the RiverWalk wall that collapsed by the old power house had been repaired. Went by there yesterday, and if applying a band-aid is considered repairing, Webster had better redefine the word.
---
L-E headline/story: "Man pleads guilty to pointing pellet gun at officers * Superior Court Judge Gil McBride sentenced Apt to a year in prison, followed by four years’ probation, court officials said" -- Law as it should be, yet another arm of the law gave a small bond for a guy who shot someone, tampered with evidence (ditched his gun), coerced the victim to lie, and lied about the incident to police officers.

Have you noticed all the signs on our right-of-ways? Sales pitches for guitar lessons, junk car buying, fire wood, pine straw, homes by owners, et al. Two questions for the City: 1 - Why aren't they removed and the perps fined for costs of removal, and 2 - Are you taking phone numbers and seeing if these folks have City business licenses?

Letter to Council we sent this morning:
Dear Ticketmasters:
For Christmas, my wife and I bought (as in PAID) for two tickets (plus all the fees and taxes) to the Lady Antebellum Concert on March 3, 2012 as a Christmas gift - one for her, and one for a friend for her to invite. That was easy enough, but recently, we have agreed to house a foreign student at our house while the student attends our daughter's school for a month.

That's right, the Lady Antebellum concert is during that time period. We need another ticket, either next to the 2 we have already bought, or another set of three we can trade our two tickets for.

We were wondering that since y'all have so many free tickets, that perhaps, in the name of good foreign relations, one of you could give up a ticket either next to our two, or 3 even closer?

It is an election year for half of you, so think of it as a good photo op and good public relations..
Looking forward to a prompt answer.
Thanks,

Liberal, probably an unemployed liberal at that (or the parent of an unemployed adult child), L-E "soundoff": "Repair the economy by replacing the minimum wage with a livable wage. Once again, CBS has exposed itself as a source of doubt as a media center. CBS rushed to air the death of Joe Paterno yesterday. It was another case of trying to be the first to report something based on competitive urgency rather than accuracy.
---
Why is it that DIM&DUMBERats think, no, FEEL (thinking is not an option for a D&D politician), that the only way to raise revenue is to tax successful people more? Mayor Obamalinson's misguided effort (as was D&D Mayor Martin's) to eliminate twice a week garbage pickups is peanuts compared to her desire to eliminate the tax freeze on personal residences. This attempt demonstrates her lack of economic forecasting savvy. Her proposed 'solution' would devastate the home construction business and real estate market in Columbus as more and more people would decide to locate, even have retirees/seniors relocating to other counties in the area rather than be at the mercy of a money hungry Council and a less than efficient property evaluation system.
---
How about the Charter Review Committee having one more meeting and suggest that any Mayor who wants to have a referendum on removing/altering the existing tax freeze be personally responsible for the $100,000.00+ cost of such an election, and....AND put his/her job on the line by making a mandatory resignation be in effect if the people vote against such assault!
---
As I'm not in the market to sell, I have no idea what our house is now worth. Having made extensive internal upgrades to the existing home we bought in 2003, I doubt that I would see any improvement in the price I could resell our home should we move. Has a tax assessor lowered our property value...no, nor does the City want to do such. The removal of the tax freeze would be a two edged sword our government is not equipped to wield adeptly.

L-E story: "A Georgia judge has ordered President Barack Obama to appear in court in Atlanta Thursday for a hearing on a complaint that says Obama isn’t a natural-born citizen and can’t be president." -- Hope I don't have many trips to Atlanta this Spring/Summer. Traffic blockades will back up I-85 to Alabama from the airport access ramps as potUS O'Blather arrives and departs.

L-E headline/story: "Columbus teen jailed after accidentally shooting boy * McMichael said Garner took the handgun to the victim’s residence and told police he didn’t know it was loaded. McMichael said Garner had been “dry firing” the weapon, not knowing a live round was inside the weapon." -- Guns don't kill people, idiots with unregistered guns kill people. Unless you have personally verified that a gun is without bullets, all guns are 'loaded'.

Santorum just doesn't have a clue and his results show it. His main campaign point is that he's no Romney nor Gingrich. He doesn't campaign on who he is, and I don't blame him. If he did, we would know that basically he's a supporter of ex-Senator Arlen 'the waffle' Spector, voted against the right-to-work bill because of his fear of Pennsylvania unions, and owns the world's largest personal wardrobe of sleeveless V-neck sweaters.
---
Solyndra is back in the news, and it sure doesn't ease the previous conception of the defunct 'green' company that got a half-a-billion dollar potUS O'Blather loan they defaulted on. Pictures have emerged that shoe Solyndra personnel throwing million dollar solar panel glass into a dumpster, purportedly because it was cheaper than storing it properly. That was OUR money tossed down the tubes. Solyndra could at least have tried to send that inventory back to the manufacturer so the manufacturer would not be left holding a completely unpaid invoice for those panels.

Heard a news anchor pose the following question in the minutes before the SC primary polls opened: "What are the South Carolina voters looking for in a presidential candidate?" -- Well, I think SC voters, as well as voters in most states other than California and the New England areas, are looking for a candidate with a 'real set', who loves this country as we do, and wants to get it back on track so our children and grandchildren will have an opportunity for a rosy future.

Modern times. Mayor Obamalinson has already posted rebuttal to online L-E comments about her proposal to circumvent the tax freeze. Mayor Obamalinson has thin skin and obviously 8 fingers and two thumbs and possibly a few toes in the air searching for which way the wind is blowing.

Karl Douglass brings up a valid point in evaluating the new ice rink, and it should be applied to all such endeavors including the under-construction natatorium, and existing ventures such as Bull Creek. Such 'businesses' should be left to the private sector, and investors who think there is a market to bring such facilities to fruition as a profit making, tax-paying venture.

FSU is making a name for itself in basketball. This month alone FSU has dealt UNC a humiliating defeat, and has humbled Duke in its own facility.

Online story: " (Harvey) Updyke, the Alabama fan who has been accused of poisoning the oak trees at Toomer’s Corner at Auburn University, rejected a plea deal that would have required him to spend 13 years in prison and never attend a Crimson Tide sporting event for the rest of his life, according to the report." -- I think house arrest for the rest of his weekends, with only watching constant reruns of the "Punt, Bama, Punt" game, and post game recaps when Bill Curry was coaching would be a just penalty.

John King of CNN had his ears handed to him by Newt Gingrich, and deservedly so. Had King wanted only to give opportunity for Newt to respond, and get it out of the way, King could have asked a question such as, "Mr. Gingrich, ABC interviewed your ex-wife, and did not give you equal time to respond; is there any rebuttal you would like to get out of the way before this debate begins?

There's 'hulu.com' video of an interview of Ret SCOTUS Justice John Paul Stevens by Stephen Colbert. What a waste of an opportunity by Colbert, and utter disrespect of a US Supreme Court Judge. Justice Stevens analyzed the situation late in the interview, and when asked by Colbert had he made any decision(s) that he now regrets, Stevens promptly responded, "This interview". Hopefully, the next apology will be by Comedy Central for allowing Colbert on the air.

Mitt nailed in Thursday night, too. Government and politicians, including potUS O'Blather, should be promoting capitalism, and celebrating in its success stories, not griping about and penalizing such successes. Especially selectively, such as promoting failed 'green' endeavors or applauding Apple, which keeps BILLIONS in cash over seas and away from the IRS, while chastising oil companies and IBM et al.

L-e story: "(SR129a) spent the hours before his DUI arrest last week with two other state lawmakers being entertained by three lobbyists, including one for brewer Anheuser-Busch, state records show." -- What I would like to see is the lawyers' billing sheets. Tell you what, the first writings of Dimon Kendrick-Holmes were less than mediocre to me, but his writings of late have moved him up to the top tier at the L-E. Today's a good example.

For a 9 month operation, the Russel County drug sting came up with a paltry amount of drugs (street values at $132,945.00) for the number of arrests made. The big boys must be still out there.

How many murderers are still loose, and how many convicted murderers haven't received their death penalty sentences, but Brian Downing is captured and vilified and subjected to his 15 minutes of fame/shame. I'd much rather see on the L-E front page that Carlton Gary has finally left this world.

L-E story: "TEHRAN, Iran — Police have closed down dozens of toy shops for selling Barbie dolls in Iran, part of a decades-long crackdown against “manifestations of Western culture,” the semiofficial Mehr news agency reported Friday. CB&T is still unloading prime real estate at fire sale prices on loans it repossessed, but this piece of property is located at 2979 Northlake Parkway, and is on the tax digest valued at $2,564,983.00, and that is prime real estate. Why is CB&T selling at about .25 cents on the dollar?

Ex-second wives usually are more bitter and vindictive. Take Newt's second wife who was seeing him while he was married to number 1. What moral issue can she have if she wasn't willing to tell Newt to get lost until he was divorced?
---
Why does Marianne Gingrich, Newt's second wife, still use his name since they're divorced and had no children? She was, she is just a gold-digging political groupie.
---
You know, if Marianne Gingrich really had anything dirty on Newt, Newt would never have divorced her. Wives cannot be made to testify against their spouses. Ask Bill Clinton why he isn't divorced.
---
Here's another question about why didn't Marianne Gingrich resume her existing name after the divorce. Her previous name was Marianne Ginther. If she retook her name, even her newer monogrammed items would still work for her.

We ARE going to miss Joe Biden-Biden next year, but not as much as Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon will. He's made their jobs easy. While at a private DIM&DUMBERat function in San Franciso over the weekend, he stated how proud he was that the Giants might make it to the Super Bowl. Hey, 'don't mess with Joe', SF is the 49ers in football, Giants in baseball.

From a Springer e-mail: "HMS Pinafore tickets are now sold out for both shows in Studio Theatre for this upcoming weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see you at other Schwob School of Music performances. " -- Lets do hope that the Springer is not full of politicians using free tickets!

Will Rogers was as much a philosopher as a comedian. His words ring true today as then. Such as: "Never vote for a politician that talks a good game but never played" Let this be a point of contention when a politician who's never owned a business tries to tell you he/she can fix economic situations by himself.
---
L-E headline: "Fort Benning to train 35,000 fewer troops this fiscal year" -- BRAC or BROC (broke)"? -- How's that for potUS O'Blather attempting to balance the budget? Would much rather read that 35,000 less non-military government employees' jobs were being downsized than the folks that defend and assure our freedom.
---
E-mail headline from CivicCenteremail@colum busga.org: "New Seats to be released for Blake Shelton" -- Oh, some of those free ticket users must be getting cold feet about showing up while others cannot get tickets.
---
Council members and identifiable City employees may never attend another event at the Civic Center, even if they buy their own tickets, now that the public will assume that they are using free tickets.
---
Speaking of 'free tickets", it's bad enough when lobbyist provide them, but it's outright internal theft when a City employee hands them out to other politicians and friends.

Newt released his tax forms. Overall income of about $995K, and donations of about $81K. Even though potUS O'Blather doesn't support a church, Newt will get blasted for obviously not tithing to his church.

Liberal L-E "soundoff": "Republicans want to get rid of PBS because it tells the truth. They had rather the public be in a desert of lies and deceit and therefore easier to manipulate. L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The world last year wasn’t quite as warm as it has been for most of the past decade, government scientists said Thursday, but it continues a general trend of rising temperatures. Here's hoping that the MCSD will pursue download text books fpr tablet and notebook computers to replace there heavy, costly, and short life of the current school books. Too bad the MCSD has not seen fit previously to get such texts in CD/DVD years ago. In addition to being easier for students to 'carry', electronic books could be updated, even corrected/amended as errors became apparent.

When we went to the movie this weekend, we noticed a 3-D cardboard display for "Titanic" being re-released as a 3-D movie. What exactly in the original was 3-D worthy that it has to be seen again in 3-D? You know, I think I've figured out why the movie industry wants to make movies in a 3-D version........they can charge 3-Dollars extra just for those glasses, and you will give back for reuse to the next suckers.

What is Mayor Obamalinson trying to do...destroy the Columbus housing and building markets? How will contractors compete i Muscogee County when mortgage companies will have to digest annually rising taxes when computing buyers ability to pay off the loan, and or how many 'seniors' will forego selling existing homes with tax freezes to buy a downsized retirement facility that has uncertain tax consequences when their incomes become more fixed?

L-E story: "(University of Georgia economist Jeff Humphreys ) estimated it will take Georgia until 2020 to replace the 360,000 jobs lost during the downturn. That compares to 2016 for the nation. " -- Of course that's only if assuming potUS O'Blather loses his this year.
---
Why do politicians and mainstream media chide people who have been successful enough to live off investment income rather than 'earned' income? Romney, even Warren Buffet, pay 15% off of dividends they receive from successfully investing in creating/solidifying jobs for many others. You can even call it a sacrifice that they don't take a salary which would be taxed at maximum rates, and that others get a salary because of this.
---
The Federal Reserve keeping interest rates at near 'zero' actually put the nation more at risk as individual saving accounts do not keep up with inflation.
---
L-E "headlie": "GOP campaign rhetoric raising racial concerns *
Critics say it uses blacks as scapegoats for white votes" -- "Critics say"? How about bigoted media make the assumption that statements about food stamp recipients is a slur towards blacks when the truth is "non-Hispanic whites" make up 49% of the recipients while "blacks" and Hispanics" combined make up only 46%? Have you also noticed that these same bigoted media folks capitalize "Hispanics" but not 'blacks" (or even "whites")?

A week ago, I listened in on a talk concerning the whitewater course given by an involved official to a group of women in a garden club. One of the women asked him what class the rapids would be when finished. The official answered "Class 3". I winced, as I do not believe "Class 3" rapids will bring many major competitive events to our city as has always been the motive to get City and State and investor interest.

What are the recipients of the 'free tickets' for the Merle Haggard concert going to do with their tickets? Perhaps see if they can trade'em in for 2 extra free tickets to the next event?

Online story: "Studies estimate that nearly one-quarter of the population, with varying degrees of light sensitivity (photophobia), may suffer negative physical effects if this ban (on incandescent Lightbulbs) becomes a reality. For this portion of the population, the most commonly found alternative, fluorescent lights (particularly the CFLs), may triggers headaches, migraines, stomachaches, fatigue, eye strain, anxiety, and irritability. Fluorescent lights can also negatively impact the immune system, literally making people sick." -- Whoa! Truth may be that these 'eco-green proponents may actually be 'green', as in green around the gills.
---
From L-E story: "(Mayor Obamalinson) asked the crowd of more than 200, "Can we continue a system of placing a disproportionate property tax burden on new homeowners when that system has been shown to drive young and middle-income residents to our neighboring counties and when the reasonable solution of sunsetting our property tax freeze exists?” * The proposal would preserve the freeze, which locks a home’s assessed value when it is purchased, for all property owners who have it now, Tomlinson said. But new property owners would not be frozen, so over time, frozen assessments would gradually disappear, she said." -- Mayor Obamalinson must have learned "new math"! How does removing the freeze on new property purchase protect the new homeowner if his/her home can be reassessed/revalued and re-taxed annually?
---
For future Civic Center events, a spotlight should be shown on every free ticket seat, so the people who got worse seats will know exactly where our City politicians and employees are sitting for free.
---
L-E headline: "Merle Haggard concert at Columbus Civic Center canceled" -- Knew the concert was in trouble when ads offering "buy 2 tickets, get two tickets free" started airing. The problem was probably exacerbated by the thought that those already getting two free tickets wanted two more freebies also.
---
How about if Council starts charging itself for those free concert tickets and using the money to buy new trees to plant near billboards? That way the paper tickets would have a back up source in the future.

Thinking about those Blue Bird school buses.... You would think that the price of those buses would go down each year since Blue Bird obviously doesn't have the expenses of making a new desogn for the outer body ever so often.
---
A school bus transfer station? There must be enough angst among parents who depend on their minor children being bused directly to schools, but knowing their children will have to depend on strangers to get them on another bus for the completion of the trip to school should send the parents climbing up walls. Lets get back to neighborhood schools!

According to an inside source at the MCSD, the current enrollment as of yesterday is 32,084. That includes BRAC. What's so revealing is that the MCSD had 32,000 students in 1990.....and 1959 as well. The MCSD is growing like a weed....not! But our tax burden is!

These are the same scientists that proclaim evolution and global warming based on no true connecting evidence. Who needs scientists?

In order for Sunday sales of alcohol to bring in 'more tax revenue', one can only assume the proponents believe people will consume a lot more alcohol than they do now. If this premise is false, Sunday sales will basically errode current Saturday and Monday sales, which will mean that liquor prices will rise as store owners pay for the costs of more employee hours and more utiliity usages.

Washington, D.C. laws are such that exterminators cannot kill rats. In fact, they must take any captured rats a minimum of 25 miles and release them. Wish DC would pass a law requiring DIM&DUMBErats to be driven 25 miles from the Capitol and abandoned in some wasteland.

A school in New Hampsire (Bedford High School) doesn't allow prayer in school, but took another step by assigning the students to read "Nickled and Dimed" (by cultural critic Barbara Ehrenreich) where our Lord, Jesus, is described as a "wine-guzzling vagrant and precocious socialist".

All, elected or not, City employees who use free tickets to Civic Center

Hope Scholarships are not a failure, but there has been educational failure attached to the Hope Scholarship. School systems ceremoniously announced that all its grads would get a 3.0 GPA to be eligible; colleges added boatloads of teachers to teach remedial students what they should have been taught in secondary schools; there has been unfettered escalation of college jobs/teachers/administrators salaries and benefits; and there have been non-curriculum costs forced upon all college students (mandatory high priced school owned dorms for non-local freshman students, and huge student activity fees). Hope Scholarship is not a 'failure'; those who have benefited/profited from the distribution of the lottery funds have failed the Hope Scholarship.

L-E story: "ATLANTA — Politics loomed over the ceremonies held Monday to mark the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday as black clergy, elected officials and others tied the civil rights icon’s legacy to the 2012 election, urging African-Americans to reelect President Barack Obama and condemning voter ID laws they warned are meant to suppress black voters." -- What a racist statement! Voter ID laws are meant to suppress unlawful voting which protects the vote of every citizen, whether he/she actually votes or not.

We went to see "Joyful Noise" last evening. Wonderful music but with a cast as talented as this was diminished by a poor job of directing and script development.

The southbound lanes of 2nd Avenue has become the most patched, re-patched, and re-re-patched stretch of road in Columbus. Please note only the southbound lanes. The northbound ones are pretty normal. Why the difference? 5 or days a week, overloaded dump trucks exit the J R Allen Parkway and scurry down 2nd Avenue to 14th Street where they take a left to Veterans to complete their journey south. The GA DOT is the only agency that can reroute those trucks off 2nd Avenue, but the GA DOT seems interested only in spending good money after bad on patching 2nd Avenue every week or so.

Now that Natalee Holloway is "officially dead" in the eyes of the government, how about the State Department declaring Aruba a
"no travel" destination until Aruba adopts a death penalty for major crimes.
---
How can DIM&DUMBERats in general, union and government ones especially, buy into the potUS O'Blather mantra that the wealthy aren't taxed enough on their savings and investment accounts? It's those investments that have funded all those union jobs in the private sector, and taxes on the profits of those investments that are funding all the government jobs.

If Council members want tickets for Civic Center events, make'em go through the same process, whether online or standing in line at the box office, as every other Columbus area citizen. Perhaps, then, the fees charged per ticket might get reviewed and a single fee per order installed.
---
Wanna bet that the IRS considers all those free tickets Council and City Manager's Office staff get should be reported as income? Wanna guess on whether any of the recipients have reported such? Regardless, Columbus taxpayers are being cheated out of operational revenues to run the Civic Center.
---
Wanna bet whether or not those 'free tickets' haven't been 'converted to cash' or used to barter personal services for City employees?

Mitt Romney is being attacked for putting his dog in a roof top kennel for a family vacation trip. My dog would have loved it versus being cooped up in side the car with 5 kids. Of course, it doesn't sound as exotic as sending the family pet via separate plane as potUS O'Blather prefers for his family vacations.
---
Online headline/story: "White House Will Not Support SOPA, PIPA * House of Representatives bill SOPA and its Senate counterpart PIPA are designed to punish websites that make available, for example, free movies and music without the permission of the U.S. rights holders." -- Since when did anyone think that potUS O'Blather (or any DIM&DUMBERat for that matter) would veto a bill, any bill, that gave away something for free that belonged to someone else?
---
No wonder no one at the Government Center wanted to audit Hester at the Civic Center; he kept them bribed with "free tickets". Council members and especially the City Manager should have their pay garnisheed until the recent lawsuit settlement is paid off, and IRS should be contacted to see if the tickets were claimed as personal income on their tax forms. In addition, why should the City Manager and staff get any tickets since they are not elected officials? At a lowball average of $40.00 a pop, 188 tickets would amount to $7520.00 (double that is more realistic) plus I'm sure they didn't fork over any ticket processing fees the rest of us get charged when we pay for them ourselves. Another fact that should be disclosed is where the seats were for these free tickets? I doubt many/any of the tickets I have purchased were as select as these 'freebies'.
I was shocked, but impressed, that the Mayor has the foresight to avoid such shenanigans.
---
One thing I would like to know is which Councilors and City Manager's Office staff were enjoying a free Civic Center event in which was sold out when I tried to buy tickets?
---
From a L-E story on the MCSD legal decision: "In Muscogee County, the prospect of exploring a new legal framework in the school district was raised last year by board chairwoman Cathy Williams. At the time, Williams proposed school officials consider hiring an in-house attorney who would recommend legal counsel for all cases, negotiate fee structures, oversee billing and report back to the board. " -- Hmmm, wouldn't that be more like hiring a chief fox to hire subordinate ones to guard the hen house?
---
There may have been a worse loss somewhere in the history of Tarheel basketball, but there certainly hasn't been a more embarrassing one than the shellacking given UNC by FSU on national TV. That was as painful as it gets (though Auburn scoring but 6 points in the first half recently gives it a run for the money)

L-E "soundoff": "Once-a-week garbage pickup is fine with us. Once a week for garbage, once a week for recycling. " -- Will someone check the source of this to see whether it was from Phenix City or from our Mayor's office?

What's with this campaign to promote Columbus will get more taxes if alcohol is sold on Sundays? Eventually, liquor sales would diminish on Saturdays and Mondays, and the costs will go up because retailers would have to make more to pay employees and utilities for the 15% more time the stores will be open.
---
Governor Deal, while you're at it, why should any citizen of GA be paying sales taxes on utilities? Also, while you're at it, ask why lawyers' offices shouldn't have to collect (and send in) sales taxes on services they provide? My business provides a time based service, and I have to collect and send in sales taxes.

A poll of the "TOP" Ten 'worst crime' cities in the world had all of them in the Americas south of our Mexican border. Bet Ahmadine-JIHAD was as PO'd about a Muslim being left off this list as Mayor Obamalinson was about being included on the Top Ten Brokest Cities.
---
Online headline: "Tim Tebow Wins Again And Charles Barkley Says 'The National Nightmare Continues' " -- Hmmm, well, a case of the "green-eyed monster", or simply because no one has ever characterized Barkley as a Christian?
---
The ASPCA TV ads are at best deceptive. The ads implicitly insinuate that the $18.00 a month pledge you make is going to take care of an animal the ASPCA will send you a picture of. I know, you know, that's not happening.
---
SR129A....one beer and a .10 reading? Must have been a 'super-sized' happy hour special.
---
The complainers harping about not getting to vote on Sunday sales in Columbus until the November General Election...just do what you normally do...go buy it in Phenix City. Phenix City needs the incoming tax revenue as so much of Phenix City citizens spend most of their tax dollars here supporting our LOSTs and SPLOSTs and lottery.

From the L-E: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is branding as "utterly despicable" the video purporting to show four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters" -- Wonder how many 'takes' it took for him to say that without laughing?
---
Dimon Kendrick-Holmes' commentary of the importance of books in the hands of poverty ridden households is right on, and Warren Steele's commitment is to be applauded, but like the old adage about leading a horse to water, it takes parent involvement to make it happen. Unfortunately, poverty families have been made dependent on government services to compensate lack of learned parenting skills, and parents who haven't earned self-esteem by actually being a hands-on parent are not equipped to pass on parenting skills to their children; they'll wait for the government to repeat the cycle. Government is its own worst enemy in fighting poverty.

Why does the NCAA penalize the defense for putting a hand (not grabbing it violently) on a running back's facemask when trying to make a tackle, but allows the running back to 'straight arm' a tackler in the facemask without a penalty?

From L-E story: "MLK Unity Parade of Excellence: Clarice Muhammad, director of the MLK Unity Parade of Excellence, said that usually around 200 different groups participate in the parade. She expects that many again Saturday. * She is not close to any final numbers but said bands from Columbus high schools Carver, Spencer, Shaw and Kendrick have already agreed to play." -- Well, the bands should be quite rested, as none of the Columbus high school bands played in the Christmas Parade last month.
---
The latest from barackobama.com: FLOTUS Michelle turns 48 on Tuesday. potUS O'Blather wants us to make a donation of $3.00 to his campaign for her birthday. Whatta cheapskate and megalomaniac!
---
From another BCer: Really worth a look -

From L-E story: "Turner’s fee is fair, Thayer said. " -- In what regards? The man retired yet had to be compensated/consulted for the Water Works to continue? What was Tant's job?
---
What is Mayor Obamalinson's obsession with once-a-week garbage pickup? For less than $6.00 per household per year she claims would be the total saving of eliminating the second pickup, neighborhoods would be subject to more obnoxious smells. Have you ever smelled leftover shrimp the first day it's been throw into the garbage cans? Imagine what a week would do for that during the summer months in particular.
---
You know potUs O'Blather's lost favor when McClatchy runs an unflattering photo like this in an article about him.

---
From L-E editorial: "A ban on Sunday alcohol sales, like any other kind of “blue law,” is obviously a religious prohibition imposed on the public at large, and everybody knows it." -- Just because it brings out religious figures/leaders to express community concern, doesn't make it a religious prohibition. If you think the Monday work no-shows are bad without Sunday potions to buy more alcohol, wait until it does become available.

Since real estate seems to be stabilizing, why does Synovus continue to sell property at below, way below, its previous market assessment value. Today has another one where the tax assessment of an 84,000 +/- building in the Technolgy Park area is $1.5 million, and Synovus is selling it for $570,000.00 to some hidden LLC corporation.

Alabama has signed a corner back from NE Mississippi JC (aka Scooba) who is listed at 6' and 270 lbs. That'll be a set of footsteps no wide receiver is ever going to want to hear coming up behind them as they stretch for a reception.
---
L-E headline: "Unemployment benefit claims jump to 399,000 " -- Post holiday terminations. Of course, potUS O'Blather and his spinmeister Tsars applauded and blew their trumpets for those new temporary jobs being the sign of recovery last month.

Where's Disney ad its troop of lawyers when we need them. There's a movie out now with the title of "Sleeping Beauty", but the rating is "R" because the story line is "A beautiful Australian college student (Emily Browning) is thrust into another life when she becomes a high-class call girl. ". What unsuspecting parent or grandparent is going to be shocked when they take a child in for a parent/grandparent day of fun. Fortunately, it is not showing at the Carmike theaters locally.

Online story: "WASHINGTON — Pepsi Beverages Co. will pay $3.1 million to settle federal charges of race discrimination for using criminal background checks to screen out job applicants" -- Once again, government has raised the cost of doing business as well as further intruded in the policies that allow private business to set standards for its employees. Chances are this would not have held up in a Supreme Court appeal, BUT Pepsi probably concluded 'settling' was the cheaper option of ongoing drawn out legal expenses or a punitive lower court jury finding.
---
Online story: "MILWAUKEE — A lifelong con man accused of starting a fake university and churning out fake diplomas – while in prison in Wisconsin – appeared in court Tuesday to face a fraud charge, years after the complex scheme was uncovered. * His public defender, Katena Roberts-Turner, did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday. " -- "his public defender"? This makes the 'public defender' industry just as fraudulent as the conman it represents.
---
What a political public relations fiasco for the Muni-Clerk's, Sheriff's, and Marshal's offices. Adding to the comedic situation is the fact that the Marshal's office was advertising an upcoming seminar on "Refuse to be the Victim". The Marshal should practice what he preaches.
---
The most common excuse for the long Christmas vacancy of students in the MCSD was 'it's because of teacher furloughs'. BS! If there was a necessity to cut back school days, then it would have been more appropriate to do so in August which would have given families more vacation time, and cut down on MCSD expenses of air-conditioning the schools.

L-E headline: "Financial adviser sees disappointment, volatility for Columbus economy in 2012" -- Obviously this advisor does not work for the State or University of Georgia.

L-E article: "BLAIR TAKES HELM OF CSU RESEARCH CENTER During its Financial Forecast presentation Wednesday, Columbus State University said it has set up the Sarah Turner Butler Distinguished University Chair of Business and Finance. * Benjamin Butler (sic) will fill the position and also serve as director of the Butler Center for Business & Economic Research, said Linda Hadley, dean of CSU’s Abbott Turner College of Business." -- Errata in proofing are a fact of life, but some, such as this, are inexcusable.

Online headline: "Team Obama Makes Bold Move On Primary Day" -- "Team Obama"? Since when is there an "I" in 'team'?
---
I'm curious... has anyone even digested where a high speed rail terminal would be located, where parking would be, how long it would take to construct, how disruptive the construction would be for automotive traffic,or how disruptive regularly schedule departures/arrivals would be to daily traffic, or even how disruptive such a venture would be to residential areas?
---
From L-E update on Carver High School construction: "Freeman & Associates and Balfour Beatty Construction are partners in putting together the 225,000-square-foot, 67 instructional unit facility capable of serving 1,250 students." -- Serving 1,250 students? Just a month or so ago, when new classifications were announced for athletics, Carver was listed as having only 740 students. Where are 510 more students coming from, and at the expense of which other high schools?
---
Online story: " Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy is only a few days old, but she already has over a million dollars worth of toys. Seriously. B and J spent over $1.5 million dollars on various toys, equipment and Swarvoski studded high chairs for their precious new daughter. Yes, blinged out high chairs!" -- Oh, in addition to spending $1.3 Million to keep other mothers and their babies off the same hospital floor when Beyonce was there. Seems Occupy Wall Streeters would have lived better occupying Blue Ivy's parents home.
---
L-E headline: "Councilors propose fining residents $100 for not spaying, neutering pets" -- Who's Council going to hire to 'check things out'...dropouts from TSA school?
---
L-E story: "Blue-collar comedy star Jeff Foxworthy perpetually has preserved 1,000 acres up by Blue Springs. * Property owners granting conservation easements don’t relinquish possession of their land; they agree to preserve it in its current state. * In return they get the benefit of certain tax breaks." -- Uh-huh...so much for celebrity liberal rich wanting to voluntarily pay more in taxes.
---
The only reason the BCS is talking about format changes is because one conference got both shares of the Championship game revenues.
---
Online quote source: "When you help someone up a hill, you're that much nearer the top yourself." - Anonymous" -- Obviously no one from the DIM&DUMBERat Party ever has thought, much less, voiced or penned such a thought. It would be blasphemous to D&D principles of class suppression.
---
It's sorta strange that Council wants to put Sunday alcohol sales on the ballot, but wouldn't change the laws so ladies' groups could have a private luncheon with wine during the week.

Saw another article on the Taliban opening an office in Afghanistan for negotiation purposes. Does the Taliban Headquarters have a car dealership there?

If Tim Tebow were Muslim, even atheist, the mainstream media would be praising the diversity he brings to the game.
---
Online headline: "Maker Of Wonder Bread, Twinkies Prepares To Refile For Chapter 11" -- Oooops, my bad, thought some DIM&DUMBERat Campaign strategist was bowing out of politics.
---
Speaking of Twinkies becoming extinct...The good news is that you can go out and buy a lifetime's supply and never worry about the preservatives shelf life expiring.
---
No wonder this administration is in such trouble like the post office. Last Thursday, a small, lightweight package was sent via "priority mail" to our home from Atlanta. We received it on Monday. Guess the O'Blather Administration and the Post Office could unite behind a single creed (and save some tax dollars) such as "When it comes to delivering a promise, we don't".

Another great game between the 2 best college teams; we deserve a tie-breaker. You know, a best-of-three deal. How about on SuperBowl Saturday?
---
From L-E story on Charter Review Committee proposals: "To prohibit any former mayor or former councilor from holding any compensated appointed office in the Consolidated Government until a year after his or her term of office expires, and to allow employees of the city government to seek elected office in other counties." -- "to allow employees of the city government to seek elected office in other counties"? How about a proposal that makes living in Columbus?Muscogee County mandatory for City employees! Even potUS O'Blather's own home Chicago/Cook County requires this.
---
From above story, too: "A seventh proposal, championed by commissioner Alton Russell, was debated at Monday’s meeting but ultimately was defeated. It would have required that top city executives be subject to a vote of confidence, or no confidence, by council every four years. * Several attorneys on the commission pointed out that council already has the authority to dismiss any executive and that by setting a four-year time frame, the proposal creates an “unintended consequence” of setting a term of office * Russell disagreed, which led to a good-natured exchange between him and Richardson, the county solicitor general. * “Typical lawyer, making things complicated,” Russell said. * To which Richardson retorted, “Typical lawyer, trying to keep his client out of trouble.” -- Yep, typical lawyer forgetting that the Charter Review's job is to make things easier and better for the City to operate efficiently, and that the City is his client, not any one employee.
---
L-E headline/story: "Woman pleads not guilty to shooting neighbor * Columbus police say Linda Jean Bular shot her 70-year-old neighbor five times Saturday night, chasing him around a mailbox with a gun after he told her he didn’t want to talk to her. * They found Bular “very intoxicated and unruly.” Officers executed a search warrant and found three rifles and a shotgun. * Bular, a convicted felon, is prohibited from owning firearms, police said." -- You know, there will be DIM&DUMBERats clamoring for a new gun law because of this, and even showing them many existing laws will not deter their angst!
---
L-E headline: "Columbus State adding more student housing downtown " -- You know, is this really in the best interest of the city as well? More student housing without adequate parking for such, and based on an unfair condition for local apartment owners/builders who pay taxes to the City.
---
L-E headline: "D.C. pushes to become 51st state, New Columbia " -- Aside from the well thought out plan of Founding Fathers to insure that the nation's Capital be free of any one state's influences, it's a DIM&DUMBERat initiative to garner 3 permanent Congressional seats and 3 permanent electoral votes for DIM&DUMBERat candidates. While it is redundant to say the DIM&DUMBERats haven't thought, heck, have even felt their way through the problems of having an even number of Electoral Votes and the possibility of a presidential tie.
---
Emanuel, Daley have gone back to Chicago. Let's hope potUS O'Blather and Arne Duncan complete the foursome.
---
How embarrassing for the Sheriff and Marshal to have to control 1 person by a restraining order, and at the same time, hold a seminar on "Refuse to be a Victim".
---
L-E headline/story: "New sex education standards released * WASHINGTON — Young elementary school students should use the proper names for body parts and, by the end of fifth grade, know that sexual orientation is “the romantic attraction of an individual to someone of the same gender or a different gender,” according to new sexual education guidelines released Monday by a coalition of health and education groups" -- Just when you thought it couldn't/wouldn't get worse... What children should be learning by the 5th grade is knowing the proper names of words, how to add/subtract/multiply/divide, the states and their capitals, the importance of the US Constitution, the truth about our history, and let them figure out that their feeling about the opposite sex is not about "cooties", and if there are standards to be learned, it is about the standards they should insist on in their teachers and legislators.
---
L-E headline: "AUBURN BASKETBALL * Almost two years later, Barbee finally signs Auburn contract " -- DOH! Why would Auburn want to sign a contract with a coach who's team scored but 6 points in the entire first half of a recent game?
---
L-E headline: "Leaders stress growth a priority -- Oh, guess that's why potUS O'Blather is an organizer.

TEBOW! Somebody knew something yesterday. My "scores" app showed a drop in the line from Pitt -8 to Pitt -7 on game day. Never have seen a line drop on game day before.
---
This weekend, heard that Beyonce and her husband "rented" the entite maternity floor at a New York hospital at a cost of $1.3 Million. Of course, in the Occupy Wall Streeters, Beyonce & spouse are part of the 99%. In reality, what arrogance of the liberal and elitist entertainment crowd. How many other mothers and fathers-to-be received lesser care because of the lack of availability of fewer maternity rooms?
---
I tell you what, after listening to the TV ads for prescription drugs' side effects, I think I would fire my doctor if he ever prescribed one of them for me.
---
L-E headline: "Arab League again tells Syria to halt violence " -- Like Syria listened to it the first time....
---
Once again Dusty Nix demonstrates his political bias by not identifying the letter rantings of Judy F. Brouillette with her elected status as the Treasurer of the Muscogee County Democrats. Dusty has been notified of such on numerous occasions yet fails to do so. If she is going to run off at the mouth about Republicans, I think everyone should know she is an elected DIM&DUMBERat official.
---
From L-E story: "A Pew Hispanic Center survey found widespread anger among Hispanic voters over Obama’s deportation levels and his failure to fulfill 2008 campaign promises to pursue comprehensive reforms that would give a path to permanent residency or citizenship to some illegal immigrants. * Yet in the same survey, Obama trounced Romney and Perry by 3-1 margins among Hispanic voters in head-to-head matchups." -- This is exactly why DIM&DUMBERat voters will continually be frustrated by voting for DIM&DUMBERat candidates. The candidates will not keep those promises they use to get the minority votes, because the minorities will vote for DIM&DUMBERat candidates anyway!

Online headline: "Rape Redefined -- More Victims Counted Under New White House Rules" -- Ah! They just added the 53% who are actually paying income taxes, and their children and grandchildren.
---
Online headline/story: "Dems Fire Back At GOP Proposals To Drug Test Jobless: 'You Pee In The Cup' * The past year has seen an unprecedented wave of Republican bills to drug test the poor and jobless. It also saw a smaller wave of Democratic bills that said in response, "No, you pee in the cup." * One of the most recent retorts comes from Georgia, where last month Democratic state Rep. Scott Holcomb introduced a bill requiring members of the local legislature to prove they're not Legislating Under the Influence. Holcomb told HuffPost he came up with the idea because he was struck by a bill from his Republican colleagues to drug test welfare applicants." -- For once, I agree with a DIM&DUMBERat. Make'em all 'pee in a cup'! Maybe then they'd stop pissing away our tax dollars and future!
---
potUS O'Blather really has no grasp of the domino effect of military cuts, and how they effect the security and economic stability of the USA. Defense contractors will make quicker cuts than the government, and defense contractors are the biggest job supplier for veterans 'riffed' from active duty.
---
L-E story: "When Georgia cut $54 million from the pre-kindergarten program last year to trim the state’s $18.3 billion budget, the Downtown Elementary School in Columbus lost its family resource coordinator who kept track of students. * The reduced staff forced Principal Tonya Douglass to fill in the gap while running a school with more than 500 students. “She used to spend an enormous amount of time building relationships with pre-K parents,” Douglass said of the coordinator. “She would be on them like a laser if there was a pattern of absence or tardy.” -- When will the MCSD and every other government run school system learn that until it holds parents responsible for their children, parents will not be responsible for them! School buses pick up and drop off their children, day & after school their children, and feed their children (many years round). How are these children going to learn what will be expected of them in raising children of their own?
---
No heart attacks, please, but I am going to recommend you read Tim Chitwood today. It's probably the best piece he's ever penned. I hope he actually wrote it out with a pencil, first.
---
L-E story: "SAVANNAH, Ga. — Gov. Na-than Deal plans to ask state lawmakers for $10 million to expand Georgia’s alternative sentencing courts, which the governor says will help reduce the prison population by diverting nonviolent offenders into programs focused on treatment and probation. * “As we divert more and more people out of a very expensive prison system that costs about $18,000 per person per year, we will begin to see savings,” -- Huh! When you add up the cost of unemployment checks. and state provided taxi, medical, and food programs and the cost of providing employees to run them, prison costs seem like a true savings. Build more jails!
---
From the Purchase Agenda at Council: "HIGH SPEED MOBILE DATA MODEMS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY VEHICLES: It is requested that council approve the purchase of 287 High Speed Mobile Data Modems from Motorola (Shaumburg, IL), in the amount of $590,072. " -- That's over $2,000.00 per unit. Wouldn't it be cheaper if the mobile force used cell phones with "wi-fi hotspots" ?
---
MOBILE DATA TERMINALS FOR THE POLICE AND SHERIFF DEPARTMENTS: It is requested that council authorize the purchase of 38 MW810 mobile data terminals, with applicable software and installation services, in the amount of $425,866 from Motorola Solutions Inc. * The unit cost for the Mobile Data terminal/AVL unit is $11,207. The equipment will be installed in 32 pursuit vehicles purchased for the police department, and six pursuit vehicles purchased for the Sheriff’s Department. " -- At $11,207.00 each, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to use cell phones with 'wi-fi hotspots'?
---
Additional comment: These seemingly unthought out expenditures total 4 times the savings Mayor Obamalinson wants to 'save' by cutting garbage pick-ups to once a week.
---
LSU and Bama... their first game was a knockdown-dragout 9-6 affair worthy of a rematch. Guess what team held them to their lowest point outputs in their other games? Mississippi State! LSU beat us 19-6, and Bama beat us 24-7.

Last Sunday was January 1st which use to be the big bowl day, but no bowl games were played. Today is another Sunday and there is a 'why schedule this at all' bowl game being played.

L-E story: "TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Actor Charlie Sheen quietly donated $25,000 to help tornado relief in Alabama, making good on a pledge to help survivors of the deadly twisters even though some had doubted his promises." -- "quietly donated"? IT"S IN THE NEWSPAPER!!! It was probably submitted by his PRESS AGENT (who probably was paid more than the $25K to do so)! Considering Sheen made $1,250,000.00 per 20 minute episode of 2 ad 1/2 Men, it was paltry compared to the magnitude of the tornado damages. Alabama should return it or at least turn it over to a battered women's shelter.
---
From an online story:A new exhibition at the Senckenberg Natural History Collections in Dresden depicts the fleshed out 'look' of man as it evolved from apedom. Why is it that scientists (versus science) are trying so hard to demonstrate/prove that modern man evolved from apes versus God's creation of all animals as well as man? These same scientists do not proclaim that all variations of apes ascended from on basic ape, so why do they feel man did? Did chimpanzees become gorillas or did gorillas become chimpanzees, and if so, why are there not many stages of ongoing evolvement? I guess it comes down to federal grant monies. What scientist is going to get a project approved to prove man is a separate creation of God than monkeys were, or versus the opposite hypothesis?
---
Online headline: "'The Obamas': Explosive Book Reveals Friction In White House" -- "Explosive book"? Ooops, my bad. Thought William Ayers had written a tell-all.
---
Bet there'll be a "Columbus" Trend of smoke coming out of Mayor Obamalinson's office for at least the next 12 months until the next edition comes out. Bet, too, John "whitewater' Turner is scratching his head.
---
Let's see...hmmm... most non-teaching parents worked right up until Christmas, took the weekend off to enjoy their family, went back to work on Tuesday after finding care for their small children while leaving their teens at home to entertain themselves, had a second long weekend end off, went back to work on Tuesday after finding care for their small children while leaving their teens at home to entertain themselves, while teachers either vacationed or lolled about for nearly 3 weeks. Who was the 3 week break for?
---
L-E "soundoff" that should be force-fed on all liberals: "U.S. companies’ boards don’t export jobs because they’re evil “1-percenters.” Higher U.S. taxes and union wages force them to, because it’s their job to maximize shareholder profits. " -- What a mouthful of wisdom compacted into a nutshell sized dose!
---
Online headline: "Restaurant Hurt By Occupy Wall Street Closes, Donald Trump Takes Over" -- I guess now the 99% will claim it was a Trump Conspiracy all along. When you get down to defining 'greedy', what is greedier, to want to keep/spend the money ypu earn in the manner you wish, or to want to take other people's money because you do not want to work as hard or make the sacrifices that it takes to earn it?
---
L-E story: "EL PASO, Texas — A 15-year-old Texas girl who was deported in May to South America after claiming to be an illegal immigrant was headed back to the United States on Friday, the U.S. State Department said. " -- Can you imagine the headline in the New York Times (or the L-E for that matter) if someone other than potUS O'Blather (say...hmmm..Bush43) was president?
---
L-E headline: "Government defends health care overhaul " -- DOH!!! What else would you expect from an administration that defends/justifies separate aircraft to get "Bo, the White House dog" to his vacation on Martha's Vineyard? One can truly say the potUS O'Blather treats his dog just like his wife.
---
L-E Online story: "CHICAGO -- Chicago's Cardinal Francis George is apologizing for remarks comparing an annual gay rights parade to a Ku Klux Klan rally." -- What'd he do...mistake a Mitre for a Hood?

Online headline: "John McCain Slips Up, Says 'Obama Will Turn This Country Around' -- Slip up? Just a misuse of tense. potUS O'Blather has turned this country around, only it's in the wro g direction!
---
Online headline: "Chicago Public Library Regional Branches, Facing Budget Cuts, Now Closed On Mondays" -- Does this surprise anyone who's aware that both our President and the Secretary of Education are from Chicago?
---
Why is Mayor Obamalinson so determined to cut our garbage services. Divided among 55,000 households, saving $250,000 dollars amounts to about $4.50 cents per household. If she ramrods this through Council, during the summer when you cook shrimp or fish, take your garbage over to her house to sit and wait for the once a week pickup.
---
Remember, it took President Bush43 nearly 18 months after 911 to get out military rebuilt and ready to respond from President Clinton's dismantling budget of the military he personally 'loathed'.
---
Why does anyone want to put the GA DOT in charge of designing a rail system? Especially when you consider that the GA DOT designed the J.R. Allen Parkway and its insidious set of exit/entry ramps, and the now-being-rebuilt I-185 bridge over Macon Road? Oh, and let's not forget how the GA DOT wanted to "rape" the re-routing of 13th Street through the Hilton and Lakebottom areas of Columbus with a 5-lane monstrosity.
---
When Georgia holds its presidential primaries, how many people will actually cast their ballot on based how the people of Iowa cast theirs?
---
L-E story: "McALESTER, Okla. — An Oklahoma inmate who recently attempted suicide was put to death Thursday evening for killing a man during a knife fight nearly two decades ago, marking the nation’s first execution this year." -- Question...why would authorities stop an attempted suicide of a man sitting on death row?
---
2 conflicting L-E Business page headlines: "REPORTS SHOW BETTER HIRING OUTLOOK " & "Holiday discounts crimp retailers’ profits " -- Retail 'jumped the shark'...again.... with anticipation that government unemployment and job figures were improving. Like most campaign promises from the DIM&DUMBERats, those figures were manipulated.
---
