While so glad that he wasn't killed, I'm having concerns about the legitimacy of the attack on Paul Pelosi... It's that time of the election season that Democrats are well known for their "October Surprises", and circumstances "fit". Paul and Nancy Pelosi BOTH needed some public sympathy... Paul, for his DUI accident, and Nancy, because she's about to lose all of her Washington standing... and there's just a nagging doubt concerning how the police arrived so fast and we're witnesses to "the hammer action". Then... there's the "convenient" observation of the attacker being "associated" with "QAnon" beliefs, and the "attacker" is/was a "hemp jewelry maker", originally from Canada, living in the UC Berkeley area, and a proclivity for nudism.. and it's hard to associate the "attacker" as a right-winger.

After reading that property in the 8400 block of Veterans Parkway here in Columbus, GA needs Columbus Council's approval to change zoning to "RO" in order to build an apartment complex, it really brings the previously church owned tax exempt property on River Road having a "RO" zoning in place that excused Council from discussing and approving in public discussion. Something really does smell right.... Adding the fact that pre-work is already starting but the sale... and sales price... has not been recorded in the public tax database smells as well.

I see Columbus Council has delayed authorizing the candidate nominated to be the new internal auditor.. perhaps more information will come forward prior to the November 8th meeting... Let's hope this date chosen is not just because dealing can be easily "hidden" amidst the hubbub of the November Election Day results being of main interest on November 9th.

Wonder if Columbus Council has realized that in order to authorize the "Pedal Pub" as a rolling Pub, then state laws about operating a moving vehicle by anyone "under the influence" and with "an open container" will be..... at a minimum... compromised, if not shattered, and since such vehicles are "VEHICLES" then holding cellphones for "selphies" is also a state violation.

Why is Columbus Council so intent on allowing public vandalism? Council keeps allowing public space to be painted with not necessarily best public interest themes. The underpass is the most recent, and now it's "considering" the wall on 18th St between Veterans Parkway and 5th Avenue to be painted by college students who are more "message oriented" than "truth oriented".

Wow! Walmart is closing ... permanently... it's ONLY facility in Pittsburgh... "Underperformance" is the "stated" reason, but I'm betting it's uncontrollable inventory losses that's the real issue.. A corporation the size of Walmart has plenty of expertise to turn around a store that has been run poorly, but be even Walmart cannot overcome losses caused by the increased losses of unprosecuted crimes. Walmarts does not take leaving a huge market like Pittsburgh callously.

Thanks to one of our BCers, I recently found this out.. It's especially ironic considering that Adidas just cut ties with Kanye West.. Adolph ("Adi") and Rudolph Dassler were the founders of "Dassler Brothers" Sports Shoe Company in Germany, and in 1933, when Hitler came to power, both joined the Nazi Party.. Ironically, they sought out Jesse Owens prior to the 1936 Olympic games and got him to wear their shoes.. actually, it more was ironic since Hitler was out to convince the world that his German race was the superior of all races. Owens went on to win 4 Gold Medals. The brothers split their business in half a few years later with Rudolph eventually naming his company "Puma", while Adolph named his company "Adidas" which was a combination of his nickname and last names "Adi" & "Das".

 Seeing the signs removed from the Georgia Power building on Veterans Parkway here in Columbus, GA roused my curiosity as GA Power never seemed to be in a hurry to do so in the past.. so I looked up GA Power Company's local property tax information.. First, I found that there is nothing in our Tax Data Base at the 1112 Veterans Parkway address. Then I looked up Muscogee County parcels owned by GA Power and found none of them showed... by address or map location... where any of the sites were.. Then I looked up "Tax Profiles"... and found something really hard to believe.. all those properties were billed in 2021, and GA Power paid the taxes on them... but in 2022, GA Power has not been billed... at all... for the property taxes (over $500,000.00 worth).. What the "H"?

1- Instead of electric cars, I think we should bring back the electric chair. It would solve more of our problems.

2 - We picked a real bad generation to start WWIII...they can't even fight anxiety from being called by a wrong pronoun.

3 - We need to quit looking for intelligent life on Mars and look to see if there is any intelligent life in Washington D.C.

4 - If you're OK with letting Joe tell you how to raise your children, you might first want to consider how Hunter turned out.

5 - We live in a time when intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.

Perhaps it's time to upgrade the golf cart standards and regulations... no more lead batteries or gas engines.. and require license tags, full coverage insurance, and fully operating light systems... One was seen parked in a Broadway space and had no tag for the Meter Maid to denote for a parking violation...

I know when statewide and Congressional Candidates pop into Columbus that they are political..by design... but it's discouraging not to see our top City Elected officials come out and greet these candidates regardless of party affiliation. After all, our elected officials are purportedly "non-partisan", so I firmly believe that a Mayor welcoming ALL these candidates would pay dividends for Columbus in the future.

Well...it's happening..... The "Rape of River Road" here in Columbus, GA... 25 plus acres of God protected (via Wynnbrook Baptist), tax exempted wildlife refuge being stripped to the ground "to put up a parking lot" and 340 apartments and townhouses.. Hmmm... where will all the deer, owls, hawks and woodpeckers go? Better yet, how will the increased water runoff be handled? Simple logistics means it will flow downhill through and/or under existing apartment and business complexes, and choice school property, and into City's Marina. Sadly, because of some strange glitch in tax exempt, undeveloped property already being zoned "RO", Columbus Council and the Planning Commission had no interest in examining the details prior to any transactions, and somehow the Property database never has recorded and published the sales date or price. Wait a minute! Finally! Finally a perfect example of Columbus' 6-figure motto, "We Do Amazing!"

Think about this.... why would President Obama go to Philadelphia to campaign for Democrat John Fetterman? Philadelphia is about the most solid Democrat bloc vote in the country so why is Obama going there? Fortunately, the US Court of Appeals has stopped the implementation of Biden-been-Lying 's student loan transference until the US Supreme Court can put it to sleep permanently, but what did these loan recipients expect? Hey, Columbus, GA! Early voting has started, and Council has not delivered for us on our having control of all local elections.. It looks like (but wording is still a bit ambiguous) our local elections of officials will get moved to the statewide November General Election date... but Council has left us "hanging" on "Special Elections"...As I perceive it, the various SPLOST/LOST tax issues are "Special Elections", and they will continue to be called at the "whim" of our 2 taxing authorities (Council and School Board) at the date they feel is most advantageous to "them" (when they feel voter interests are low) rather than "us". I'm reluctantly going to vote "yes" on Article VI as getting local elections moved to November is for our greater good. The other Charter Amendments are "OK", but seem to offer some "wiggle room" for some "backroom political dealings", but that's hard to eliminate from politics...

This is sick... Resident Biden is trying to make retirees getting Social Security believe he is giving them about a 9% "raise" in their monthly checks... like everything else he claims.. it's pure BS! The government does NOT pay your Social Security.. you and your employer paid into Social Security your entire work career.. none of it was paid by the government.. the government has been nothing but the collector and distributor and VERY poor investor of YOUR money... All JoKKKe Biden is doing is reducing your Social Security account for the future...

Though Robin Williams is no longer with, I found a legacy he left behind... "Man of the Year" (showing on Hulu) is a movie he starred in in 2006 that's a combination of SNL's Pat Paulsen's presidential run in the 70s and William Holden's "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" movie "Network". Interestingly.. is that Williams drew attention to the millions of illegal aliens crossing our Southern Border without scrutiny while true American citizens returning from abroad were treated like terrorists following 9-11-01.

Speaking of illegal aliens.. got credible confirming info that for the past 20 months, we've had numerous illegal aliens flown into Columbus, GA from the Texas border (and not initiated by the Texas Governor). Then they are bused down to Lumpkin... source says Mayor is well aware of "trafficking" but hasn't spoken out... Unless I hear credible counter info, I'm going to consider the information correct. How about some transparency by our Council!

I think every politician or contractor who says "affordable housing" should be able to define what "affordable housing" is.. In my book, having taxpaying homeowners taxed extra to pay other people's rent does not make it "affordable housing" for anyone.
