I know when statewide and Congressional Candidates pop into Columbus that they are political..by design... but it's discouraging not to see our top City Elected officials come out and greet these candidates regardless of party affiliation. After all, our elected officials are purportedly "non-partisan", so I firmly believe that a Mayor welcoming ALL these candidates would pay dividends for Columbus in the future.

Well...it's happening..... The "Rape of River Road" here in Columbus, GA... 25 plus acres of God protected (via Wynnbrook Baptist), tax exempted wildlife refuge being stripped to the ground "to put up a parking lot" and 340 apartments and townhouses.. Hmmm... where will all the deer, owls, hawks and woodpeckers go? Better yet, how will the increased water runoff be handled? Simple logistics means it will flow downhill through and/or under existing apartment and business complexes, and choice school property, and into City's Marina. Sadly, because of some strange glitch in tax exempt, undeveloped property already being zoned "RO", Columbus Council and the Planning Commission had no interest in examining the details prior to any transactions, and somehow the Property database never has recorded and published the sales date or price. Wait a minute! Finally! Finally a perfect example of Columbus' 6-figure motto, "We Do Amazing!"

Other than being a Mississippi STATE man, watching Ole Miss get trounced by LSU was extra satisfying because the Ole Miss coach was wearing an anachronistic t-shirt advocating the "Ole Miss Rebels"... Friday, I mentioned the WTVM-TV9 editorial explaining how election laws prohibit them from editing federal level political advertising. What we need, though, is election laws that prohibit politicians from "editing the truth". Never was it so apparent than listening to Resident Biden reading the Teleprompter on Friday telling us that his excessive giveaway spending has lowered the National Debt.

Think about this.... why would President Obama go to Philadelphia to campaign for Democrat John Fetterman? Philadelphia is about the most solid Democrat bloc vote in the country so why is Obama going there? My guess is that current crime on the streets is so severe, and the Philadelphian Democrat voter base isn't so sure they want to support Fetterman because Fetterman wants to release murderers back on the streets where law-abiding families are trying to establish a safe neighborhood.... so, the Democrats feel desperately obligated to "send in the clown".

Fortunately, the US Court of Appeals has stopped the implementation of Biden-been-Lying 's student loan transference until the US Supreme Court can put it to sleep permanently, but what did these loan recipients expect? At best, for most, it wasn't going to eliminate their debt, just reduce it which wasn't going to help their current financial plight very much, and would be an albatross around their necks when applying for mortgage/car loans in the future.

While I applaud improved reporting methods/schedules of City Department audits.. recently there appears to be an issue with hiring such an internal auditor who has previous connection with a City Department that only $1.5 Million of over $5 Million in shortages has been "accounted for"...I do believe our City Council needs to take a closer review of the situation....
