I just heard something I had not heard/realized before, and it’s mind-bending… While the brutal Battle of Gettysburg occurred the first week of July in 1863, Lincoln did not go there and give what we now refer to as his “Gettysburg Address” until November 19th of ’63! When we look at pictures taken at the Address moment, we still see bodies stacked and devastation still being removed.. Can you imagine the stench that 4 months of decaying bodies created? I do not remember seeing this particular info in any of my text books…. Wow.. and what are students taught about it today… that Lincoln text messaged the Gettysburg Address through his Social Media account?
