I'm sorta confused.. the local paper published a "holiday schedule" for various government offices as to which are open/closed for "Presidents Day" but is it today or Monday?

From the "who's mainscream media feel it's fooling" department - HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Poll: Trump's approval rating sinks below 40 percent  * The new Pew Research Center poll shows that Trump's rating is historically low when compared with other presidents during their respective first weeks in office" -- "the Pew Poll"? Isn't that the one that had "predicted" Hellary a 60-40 shoo-in winner in September? "Pew Poll"? More like a "p-e-e-w-w-w-w! poll". BTW, Rassmussen's Poll was also released yesterday.. it paints a different picture showing Trump with a 55 percent approval rating -- a 16 point-difference from the Pew poll. Oh.. BTW, too, Rasmussen's September Poll predicted Trump by about 2 points.. to win!

How about the DOW & S&P rally since Trump won the election! Tell you what..over 100,000,000 Americans have benefited from this, but what about challenging liberals to donate all their profits to leftwing, feel-good programs they support when government funding is cut off.

---
How about the DOW & S&P rally since Trump won the election! Tell you what..over 100,000,000 Americans have benefited from this, but what about challenging liberals to donate all their profits to leftwing, feel-good programs they support when government funding is cut off.

---
Love Trump! During his press conference, Trump told the CNN reporter that he was going to change his name for CNN...instead of "Fake News", the new name will be "Very Fake News".

---
It was uplifting to watch Trump putting mainscream media in its place yesterday..Mainscream media believes it is bigger than the stories it reports, and expediency is more important than the truth...and mainscream media is wrong.

---
Hearing press reporters be concerned about their 1st Amendment Rights of free speech but none addressing their responsibility to print/report the truth is the number one problem with liberals.

---
HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Fox News anchor Shep Smith blasts Trump * Shortly after the press conference, FOX News anchor Shepard Smith hit back hard. "It's crazy what we're watching every day, it's absolutely crazy. He keeps repeating ridiculous throw away lines that are not true at all and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia as if we're some kind of fools for asking the question," said Smith." -- "we're some kind of fools for asking the question," said Smith"? Hmmm.. sounds like Schlepp Smith finally "gets it"... I pretty much predict Schlepp Smith will be the next Fox "anchor" to be "dropped".

---
You know.. "anchors"..like Schlepp Smith.. as well as field reporters, would probably do America (and their own careers) a great service..if they would examine what Trump's doing that's positive for our country.. and report it "fair and balanced".. I wonder if Schlepp Smith even know's that's part of Fox's spiel?

---
Online headline: "A flash flood watch is in effect as a once-a-decade rainstorm barrels toward Los Angeles" -- Looks like the "snail darters" lobbying group "win".

---
Online headline: "Nearly 800 former EPA officials oppose Scott Pruitt's nomination" -- Trump must have really struck a nerve.. and made a great choice! And it looks like the 15,000+ current employees may attain "former" status, too.

---
Online headline: "Reading a certain book makes you a better person" -- Dang.. my guess was "The Bible"... but...according to a recent paper published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, kids who read Harry Potter books and identify with Harry are more open-minded and less likely to be prejudiced against minority groups... Hmmm.. of course liberals would feel that..

---
HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Scientists are close to bringing the woolly mammoth back * Scientists at Harvard University say they are about two years away from making a hybrid woolly mammoth embryo. * The team, believes that it is nearing the point where it can splice mammoth-exclusive traits, such as long hair and blood that's resistant to freezing, into an elephant embryo's genome." -- Hmmm.. maybe it's just me, but I thought science was suppose to lead us forward.. On a positive note, it could backfire on the libs. The Republicans could modify its elephant symbol and give it long hair with a pony tail. and appeal to the hippie element that is entrenched in the Democratic Party..

You know.. Harvard's "monkeying" around with genome stuff could lead to a real improvement for mankind.. conservatives' brain matter could be spliced into liberals' embryos, and the babies would start out with a eal live, WORKING brain.

---
I enjoy old Perry Mason and Matlock shows..justice always seems to win in their court cases...of course, neither one could win in the liberal-biased courts we have today.

---
Online story: "Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday asking him to convene a grand jury or charge Bryan Pagliano, the computer specialist who helped establish Clinton's server while she was secretary of state. * Pagliano did not comply with two subpoenas ordering him to appear before the oversight panel. The GOP-led committee later voted to hold him in contempt of Congress. * Chaffetz said in a statement that allowing Pagliano's conduct "to go unaddressed would gravely harm Congress' ability to conduct oversight."" -- And Chaffetz is right.. Pagliano must understand that just because Hellary is "above the law" in mainscream media's eyes, she's not in the eyes of the law, and he is not either.

---
Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina said there is "an element of disrespect" in Trump's comment to journalist April Ryan, asking her whether she was friends with CBC members and could convene a get-together.
"He's not going to ask any other reporter to do that for any other group, so why did he do that to her? I think that was pretty instructive to me," said Clyburn, a veteran lawmaker and member of the House Democratic leadership." -- The CBC should be disbanded..it violates our Constitution.. you know the one they swear an oath to uphold... by discriminating against race which is addressed specifically in the Constitutional Amendments.

---
Online story: "In a letter to the Chairman and Ranking member of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, AARP Senior Vice President Joyce Rogers lashed out against the recently introduced State Age Rating Flexibility Act of 2017, legislation that would allow insurers to charge older Americans significantly more for health insurance. *  “This legislation has a simple explanation -- it would be an age tax -- charging older Americans not yet eligible for Medicare a penalty of five times what others must pay for health insurance. The term ‘age rating’ is Washington-speak for overcharging older Americans by thousands of dollars for their health care,” AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond told FOX Business." -- "age tax"? "age rating"?  How about simple math probability logarithms? Does this "professional" address "age rating" for teen aged drivers? Does she address "age ratings" for life insurance? The answer is "No!".. Move on...

---
From the "it must be  Court District 9 territory" department: "The Washington Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that a florist who refused to provide services for a same-sex wedding broke the state's antidiscrimination law, even though she claimed doing so would violate her religious beliefs." -- Hmmm... now what would the Court decision if the bakery filed a discrimination suit against a same-sex couple who walked by this florist shop and selected another  florist because it was owned by a same-sex couple?  District 9 would feel that would be "OK".

---
Was reading about the outbreak at River Road Elementary School, and was stunned to see the student population at only 430. I remember when the state did not distribute funds per student when such a low number of students were assigned to a school (remember when two South Columbus Schools were merged into one in order to get to the state minimum?) . Well, while I was looking up a new minimum standard for elementary schools (no definitive result... so far), I ran across a "standard" for the state that requires an assistant principal ONLY if a school has 750 or more students ( "A school with an enrollment of 750 or more students has a full‑time assistant principal or an additional qualified person designated as an assistant to the principal on a full‑time basis." -   http://gac.coe.uga.edu/gac-standards/standards-for-elementary-school-programs/  ).  tried to look up the school and see if one was listed, but the database doesn't show assigned assistant principals, but I was dumfounded that the alphabetical list of principals/assistant principals was compiled by first rather than last names.. this just demonstrates how unprofessional the MCSD is.. Now, if there IS an assistant principal at elementary schools with less than 750 students, then, by state standards, these are unnecessary personnel, thus an unnecessary tax expense.

Sen. Rand Paul needs to shut up about how he feels about how OObamaCRAP should be handled.. there are people in charge of the process, and he's nit one of them.

---
From the "stick the blade in... and twist it" department - L-E headline: "New choice for Labor would be only Latino in Trump Cabinet" -- Good grief.. the L-E cannot celebrate the reason Acosta was nominated which has nothing to do with his DNA.. it has to o with Martin Luther King, Jr's "dream" of being accepted by his worth.. another thing.. at least the L-E didn't mention that Acosta would be the "only" non-billionaire Latino in Trump's Cabinet..

L-E headline/story: "In many cities, protests mean a day without restaurants * The heart of Philadelphia’s Italian Market was uncommonly quiet. Fine restaurants in New York, San Francisco and the nation’s capital closed for the day. Grocery stores, food trucks, coffee shops, diners and taco joints in places like Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston shut down. * Immigrants around the U.S. stayed home from work and school Thursday to demonstrate how important they are to America’s economy, and many businesses closed in solidarity, in a nationwide protest called A Day Without Immigrants." -- Hmmm.. let's see.. what actually was accomplished..I guess restaurants that participated just lost a day's revenue.. I didn't go hungry, and my bride and I dined out at an Aussie themed steak house and got wonderful food and service.. tell, who actually went hungry because of liberals feeling their are too important? Oh, and who actually lost a day's wages and tips? Brilliant protest... NOT!

HuffPOOPOO headline: "Trump ends Obama's 'March Madness' legacy, will not fill out NCAA tournament bracket" -- Imagine that.. a president with the interest of America's NEEDS on his mind...

---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "Report claims Melania Trump is 'miserable' as America's first lady" -- Imagine that, a First Lady with the interest of America's NEEDS on her mind...not where I can go on vacation.

---
HuffPOOPOO headline of CNN story: "Stephen Miller reportedly helped launch anti-Islamic terrorism group in college * White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller..helped launch a controversial group while at Duke University, reports CNN. *  According to an archived website for the group, it was called the Terrorism Awareness Project, or TAP, and intended to make "students aware of the Islamic jihad and the terrorist threat, and to mobilize support for the defense of America and the civilization of the West." *  CNN reports that Miller had contributed writings to the group's effort, including one piece where he said, in part, "...our nation has failed to educate our youth about the holy war being waged against us and what needs to be done to defeat the Jihadists that are waging this war." -- "CNN reported"?  Imagine that.. CNN .. you know the network that WOULD NOT report the atrocities Saddam Hussein committed in his Baghdad Palace for "fear" that Hussein would not invite it's staff to Palace parties?

---
Online headline:Senate votes to let mentally ill people buy guns" -- And why shouldn't Democrats be able to LEGALLY buy/own guns if they are vetted properly?

---
From the "If you immediately think "Chicago" after reading this headline/story.. YOU'RE RIGHT!" department : "2-year-old boy and man shot dead in Facebook live video: 'Call 911! They killed him' * A shooting in Chicago has left a 2-year-old boy and an adult man dead Tuesday and startling footage of the assault, which also left a pregnant woman wounded, was posted live to Facebook." -- Wow.. and Rahm Emanuel is proud of Chicago being a "sanctuary city" where people are safe from police enforcing the law.

---
HuffPOOPOO story: " A New Jersey Muslim Civil Rights organization is calling for increased security for Muslim students after a poster calling for a "Muslim-Free America" was found Monday at Rutgers University." -- Wow.. you wonder how AOL/HuffPOOPOO hasn't discovered that the Quran advocates for a "Christian and Jewish Free WORLD"!

---
And now, from the "as Paul Harvey would say.. now, for the rest of the story" department - Online story: "Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (ticker: BRK.A, BRK.B) shed $900 million in Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT) stock, reports Business Insider, echoing larger issues the retail industry is facing against fierce competition like Amazon.com (AMZN). *  Buffett has shifted focus – i.e. billions of dollars – toward airline stocks instead, like Southwest Airlines (LUV) and Delta Air Lines (DAL). He also increased shares in Bank of New York Mellon (BK), among other purchases." -- Well, well, well.. the REAL story here is that Buffet has finally ENDORSED Trump! Buffett recognizes how eliminating repressive taxes and EPA regulations will benefit air travel. Yep.. this is the REAL story, but mainscream media will not admit this.

---
You know, if the Fed had hinted at interest rate hikes when Obama was in office , or if, heaven forbid, Hellary had won,  the stock market would be sinking as we speak. Instead, Fed hints at rate hikes are being discussed because the economy is "perking" up because of the confidence industry has in Trump's vision and abilities to lead America back to world dominance.

---
A liberal spinmeister said OObamaCRAP has brought down healthcare cost.. Good grief, just a few years ago, healthcare was 14% of our GDP, and now it's 20%!.This has caused a huge drop in dispoable income which has caused the stagnation of our economy.

---
Athen's Banner-Herald online story: "ATLANTA | The Georgia brewery bill has turned into the booze bill. * Lawmakers combined legislation that allows breweries to sell directly to the customer with another proposal that would permit distilleries to do the same thing. * The bill cleared the House Regulated Industries Committee Tuesday and heads to the floor for a likely vote. It has strong support from many influential lawmakers. * The proposal would negate a Prohibition-era law that required distillers and brewers to use a distributor to get the product to the consumer." -- "would negate a Prohibition-era law that required distillers and brewers to use a distributor "?  Hmmm.. big... BIG question.. how many of these "influential lawmakers" have gotten clearance from Georgia Crown's Don Leeburn?

---
What a powerful sight...President and Mrs. Trump standing outside on the driveway in wait for the White House arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Netanyahu. Our allies everywhere understand this, and Israel's enemies are put on alert.

---
Why does Fox continue to go to Lindsey Graham and/or John McCain for input/confirmation on current events? Neither one has any ongoing credibility as to what Trump or anyone else should do, nor even recommending who America needs to have credibility in?

---
L-E headline/story: "Businessman to buy historic downtown YMCA * The historic old downtown Columbus YMCA building, owned by First Presbyterian Church, is in the process of being sold to a local businessman, downtown resident and property owner. *  “The first thing that I want to do is get the building where we don’t have leaks or damage to the historical value,” Gamache said Wednesday morning. “This was one of the pieces of property that I rode by almost every day and I felt like it needed to be saved. And I am sure at some point somebody else has come in and did the same thing, but I am looking for opportunities to make my backyard a better place.” --  Don't you love it...NOT... when Columbus history is discussed.. and pertinent info is just omitted? Of course, in the L-E's situation. it's because there's no one there who really knows much about Columbus' early history. Joseph Albert Kirven, founder of Kirven's Department Stores was the president of the YMCA in 1903 (and years preceding it) and led the campaign to raise $10,000.00 to meet the challenge/condition of George Peabody to make the erection of the marble YMCA building happen.. It was his son and grandson that led the erection of the 1951 addition.. Knowing Jason Gamache.. he will do something good to revitalize this property.  Nice move, Jason!

Just looking back at the Michael Flynn resignation..You know. Flynn was wrong in how he handled things.. especially not in informing Trump and Pence of "everything". but the real issue here is the "leaks" from Obama holdovers to mainscream media (and who knows what other foreign entities), and mainscream media is basically giving the "leakers" amnesty.. .. Amnesty.. despite them walking around post-election with info that could damage America's security and with a know penchant to blab about it..

L-E story: "It once seemed replacing the historic Toomer’s Corner oak trees Auburn University students roll with toilet paper after football victories would be a once-in-a-lifetime event. * A crowd gathered at Toomer’s Corner on Feb. 14, 2015, to watch the iconic oaks replaced with new ones — a once-in-a-lifetime event, folks thought. And why not? The first ones lived more than a century. * It turned out to be a once-in-a-lifetime event only until the following July, when one of the replacement trees was replaced, having failed adequately to take root. * Fans were asked not to roll the trees again until the 2016 football season, when the custom resumed. Then the old tradition was back on track – until Sept. 24, when Jochen (_*_) set fire to the toilet paper draped on one of the new oaks after Auburn beat LSU 18-13. * The tree suffered extensive damage, and horticulturalists were left wondering whether the canopy would leaf out again. They finally decided the tree was not going to recover this spring, so it had to be replaced. Again." --  Ironically.. the old Toomer's Corner trees could end up at a wood processing plant on the Chattahoochee River and made into rolls of TP which could end up on the limbs of the new Toomer's Corner trees in the future..

---
L-E headline: "ROAD SAFETY * U.S. traffic deaths rise for a second straight year" -- I'm sure misuse of cellphones have been a major contributing factor.. and probably alcohol purchased at drive-in liquor stores, and non-use of seatbelts, too, but I notice no mention of unlicensed or even licensed illegal aliens was included in this story.

From the "it could get no scarier than this" department - L-E guest commentary headline/content: "Will casinos fix HOPE, other things? * BY KYLE WINGFIELD Atlanta Journal-Constitution * The casinos bill had its first hearing before a Senate committee this past week, and so far the discussion has little to do with whether it’s a good idea to open Georgia’s doors to an industry that would suck money out of residents’ pockets. It has much more to do with how to divvy up the state’s meager share of the loot. * Under the bill, the state would get 20 percent of casinos’ gambling revenues. " -- "the state would get 20 percent of the casinos’ gambling  REVENUES"? And you thought the interest rates that can be charged  on "Title Pawn/Loans" was criminal! If casinos are happy with giving 20% of their revenues (most likely this is a miscommunication of fact as it's more than likely 20% of "profits or "net"") just to get the doors open, what chance does any gambler have to leave such in any way but "broke".. and likely to need entitlement assistance to take food home to his/her children? If YOUR politician supports this bill, you should campaign to oust him/her from office!

L-E headline/story: "TEXAS GOVERNOR TELLS NFL ‘GET THE HECK OUT OF POLITICS’ * Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wants the NFL to keep its nose out of the state’s business, saying that it should “get the heck out of politics” as the state considers a so-called bathroom bill." -- Let's draft Abbott to run for governor of GA! My soon-to-be-5-years-old granddaughter is capable to go to a bathroom by herself.. pity the man who tries to go in there with her...

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Online story: "Humana, one of the five large publicly traded health insurers, said in a press release Tuesday that it will pull all of its business from the individual marketplaces starting January 1, 2018. *  the company said that in reviewing data from 2017 enrollment on the exchanges, it saw "further signs of an unbalanced risk pool." *  Obama officials hoped that a larger number of young people would sign up, (but) enrollment plummeted in the two weeks after Trump took office, and sign-ups came in lower than the year before." -- Good grief.. when the only incentive to make young people buy into OObamaCRAP was a severe tax penalty if they didn't, then why would young people enroll unless the insurance was a good buy and make sense to them?

---
You know, if Nancy Pelosi and Elijah Cummings had put as much effort into helping America when Obama was in office as they do in vilifying Trump, Hellary might have won..

---
Question..where were Democrats John Lewis and Elijah Cummings indignation when Loretta Lynch met with Bill Clinton when Hellary was under investigation?

---
Where was the liberal indignation when Obama was caught on an open mic telling a Russian official to tell Putin he "could be more flexible after the election" in 2012, and where wad their indignation when Obama denied Romney's inference that Russia should be our nation number one concern.

---
There's a list of the top 12 "sanctuary" cities in the US, along with the estimated illegal aliens residing in them (and about 20% of the total illegal alien population)...plus the amount of federal funds each city receives annually.. Adding up the fed funds, it looks like if Trump shuts that off, there is more than enough saved in one year to "Build the WALL"!

---
Remember "Obama For America"?..Remember that he changed that to "Organizing For America" following his reelection? Now it seems he has decided to use "OFA" as a political protest organization to "Resist Trump". That, my friends is almost, if not actually, is a terrorist organization. I hope Trump has IRS run a forensic audit on "OFA", and remove its 501 (c) __ status.

---
The taping/leaking of phone calls made by General Flynn before Trump took office pretty much confirms the lack of patriotism of Obama appointees still sprinkled throughout the government. Flynn was wrong in what he did, but, he may end up a hero since the holdover "moles" had to expose themselves..and their covert personal agenda.

---
General Prateus was back in for consideration as Trump's National Security Advisor...definitely a stellar military strategist in the past, but didn't Patreus get vilified for enabling himself as a potential blackmail victim which is what mainscream media was concerned about with General Flynn.

---
Why would the City Manager throw out a $100 MILLION dollar figure to build a new government center since a downtown replacement structure would not have to hold any of the offices which use to be there but were relocated to the Macon Road Government Services Building?

---
When Mayor Tom-LYING-son charges the committee she appointed to study about constructing a new government center, shouldn't she have them explore other surrounding counties to pony up their share of Superior Court costs? After all, it seems the Superior Court "space" is the main issue since so many other other Columbus services have already shuffled out to the Macon Road facility?

Oh! And who pays for Superior Court salaries? Do Columbus taxpayers shoulder all the costs, or do the other counties they serve "chip in"?

---
What is it about mainscream media that its brains work better at formulating investigative questions when in the presence of conservatives versus liberals?

---
LIVs' L-E "soundoff": "In order to become a school superintendent, you should have been a teacher first. In order to become Commander-in-Chief, you should have been in the military first."  -- And to be a voter, you ought to be a property owning, tax paying citizen.. with a photo ID..and a job.

Let's review our presidents military service: While Trump did not serve in our military, he did attend a military school, but let's review our previous presidents service.. Democrats of the past 100+ years - Obama zilch, Clinton.. double zilch because he was failed to report after being called up; Jimmy Carter Lt in Navy.. Lyndon Johnson.. Commander, USN Reserves.., John F Kennedy.. Lt. USN Reserve; Harry S. Truman.. Col.. MO National Gurad/ USArmy/ US Army Reserve; FD Roosevelt.. zilch; Woodrow Wilson.. zilch.

Now, Republican presidents: George W. Bush..1st Lt. Texas Air National Guard, George H.W. Bush.. Lt/pilot US Naval Reserves; Ronald Reagan.. Captan.. US Army Reserve/US Army Air Corp; Gerald Ford.. Lt. Commander..USN Reserve; Richard Nixon..Commander...USN Reserve; Dwight D. Eisenhower.. General of the Army; Calvin Coolidge..none; Warren G. Harding..none; William H. Taft..Conn. Home Guard and US Secretary of War; Teddy Roosevelt, Col.. US Army.

Looks like the country is a lot better off with Republicans overseeing our military. Oh.. and just think what electing Hellary would have added to the Democrats' side?

---
L-E headline/story: "Local liquor store owner sentenced for cashing fraudulent IRS checks * George Rowell, 61, owner of Big O’s Package Store at 4034 Cusseta Road, cashed fraudulent tax refund checks from February 2012 to March 2013, charging his co-conspirators a 10 percent fee, authorities said. *
Rowell to serve 18 months in prison plus three years of supervised release, and to pay $645,343 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service." -- Restitution to IRS? Not enough.. this was intentional fraud.. and he should be paying restitution to the taxpayers  for court/prosecution costs as well as his 3-year taxpayer paid "room and board" and all costs of monitoring him in the future!

---
L-E headline: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD * Request to fire school board’s law firm fails" --
Thank heaven for Frank Myers and John Thomas.. as bad as the results have been in the MCSD, just imagine what they'd be without the Board and school Administration knowing the issues/practices/policies that NEED to be challenged WILL be challenged.

---
L-E story: "Federal guidelines don’t allow students to receive a hot lunch if their account is in arrears, and health department regulations require the original meal to be discarded, Schlader said." -- You know.. we taxpayers are already paying for 38 schools free meals.. students' families that do not get free meals at other schools are also paying for other schools free meals.. Isn't that double taxation!

---
From the "ironic or moronic" department - Online L-E headline/story: "Entrepreneur gets extension for hookah liquor license * (Saad) Ahmed is the son of Dr. Sajid Ahmed, an oncologist at the John B. Amos Cancer Center. " -- How does a son of an oncologist end up in the tobacco business?

---

Response to a "Letter" in today's L-E: Good grief.. How can liberals "feel" that Putin influenced Trump's election victory.. like Hellary, Putin wouldn't have bothered to try to influence voters in what the Democrats refer to as "flyover country", and that my friends is why Trump was elected.. he won the majority of votes in 30 states..plus another Electoral College vote in another state..

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Online headline: "Michael Flynn resigns as national security adviser: Official" -- Trump IS making America GREAT Again! He's brought integrity back to government! He demands accountability.. Hey, Loretta Lynch.. why didn't you resign when you were CAUGHT having that meeting with Slick Willie!

---
From the "proof is in the pudding" department - Online headline: "Playboy returns to nudity in new issue" -- Just as suspected.. no body really read the articles.

---
From the "proof liberalism is our worst enemy" department - Online headline/story: "Sheriff outraged after being forced to disarm before entering hockey arena * Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said he was outraged Saturday night when he was prevented from entering the Spokane Arena to promote a charity hockey game, because he was carrying his gun -- even though he was on duty." -- Hmmm... Washington state.. of course.. the same state that brought us Judge Robart, and voted for Hellary in a bigger margin than Obama won by in 2012. Why even allow law enforcement officers wear guns if they cannot protect citizens at public events?

---
From the " Judge Robart said: The government has pointed to no evidence...that any alien from any of the countries named in the order has perpetrated a terrorist attack in the United States."" department:  9th District Court Judge Robart said he didn't know of any terrorists from the 7 countries named in the ENTRY BAN who'd done any terrorist acts. Yesterday, a list of 72  terrorist convictions since 9-11-01 of "immigrants/refugees" from those 7 countries came to light..Minnesota had 8 of those, and at least two of the terrorists were living in Washington, which joined with Minnesota in the lawsuit to block the order. Oh, it is said that none are so blind as those who will not see... I disagree,, blinder still are people who just don't WANT to see.

---
Hey, Judge Robart.. does this guy look familiar?

---
Imagine...Bernie Sanders and Al Franken calling Trump "delusional". Delusion is feeling either Hellary or "the Bern" would be president.... or Franken being a Senator.

---
A liberal commentator said on Fox that Trump has estranged himself of formidable Republicans like McCain, Graham and Rubio. Good grief..all three of these have estranged THEMSELVES with the American conservative movement.

---
It's refreshing to have a president that doesn't kowtow to liberals in the mainscream media or government or in the judicial branch.. Go Trump!

---
You know, why is mainscream media feeling it is representing America by denigrating every word, every action of Trump, when the real attitude of America is the soaring stock market. America..and the world in general, is excited Trump is our president.

---
From the "it only makes sense if you're a liberal" department - Interesting....with all the liberal push for empowering women, why are liberals so joyful that Nordstrom and others are kicking Ivanka Trump's line out of their stores?

---
The scary situation at the Oroville, CA dam just amplifies the irresponsibility of governments throughout our country. Politicians are so concerned about spending new money on projects that they don't take care of what's already built and needs maintaining . Locally, our mayor authorized a $244,000.00 bathroom on our local RiverWalk, while letting our 45 year old government center to further deteriorate and now wants to spend $100 MILLION dollars to build a new one.

---
Instead of trying to get the minimum wage raised, employees should try to maximize their efforts so employers will recognize their value and pay them more to stay where they are working.. As my dad told me, "make yourself valuable in whatever you do, and people will recognize and reward your value." I tell my girls the same thing.

---
Online story: "All but one of about 50 undocumented Mexican migrants at a meeting Saturday indicated they would rather risk detention and long court battles in the U.S. than return to Mexico voluntarily." -- Good grief.. and liberals scratch their heads about why our prisons are overflowing? Entitlement programs nor the Mexican economy simply do not guarantee a roof and bed and 3 squares a day..

---
Online story: "Prosecutors in Puerto Rico have smashed a ring of current and former U.S. Transportation Security Administration workers that allegedly smuggled 20 tons of cocaine worth as much as $100 million into the U.S. over more than a decade." -- It was bad enough in the past, but my blood will boil if any of those guys try to "pat me down" again in the future!

---
L-E headline: "2016 ELECTION FALLOUT * Democratic town hall meeting draws more than 100 people in Columbus" --- Hmmm.. ell since 69,817 people cast their vote in November, it looks like 69,717 didn't show up.. even more damaging to the Democrats is that 39, 831 voted for Hellary, and obviously they didn't show up either.. In fact, if 100 was the actual number, I'm willing to bet that only Democrat politicians, Democrat officials/poll workers, and the mainscream media were the only ones present..

---
While the "soundoff" about the guy who wanted "two Flacons, two Braves, and two Bulldogs" for pall bearers so they could let him down one last time is going to be my all-time favorite "L-E :soundoff", this one would have made the Final 5: "America now ranks 29th in the world in science and math scores. You know it’s time for a change when the Polish (ranked 11th) start telling American jokes."

---
L-E headline: "EDUCATION * School district releases vision, values survey results" --  I saw.. even took the poll.. and not one question gave you the option of another viewpoint... What's needed is a poll made by taxpayers to see where the School Administrators stand on efficient use of tax dollars. BTW, I noticed that no "comments" were included in this story.

---
L-E headline: "Jewish fears of Trump mount on eve of Netanyahu visit" -- Good grief.. Obama wouldn't even see Netanyahu.. and even tried to openly undermine his re-election. Somehow, I do not think mainscream media speaks for mainstream American Jews anymore.

---
From what can only be described as "sour grapes" department - L-E "headLIE": "Beyonce shines, Adele flubs at the Grammys" -- Good grief.. Adele "emotionaled out" singing a tribute to George Michael, and mainscream media is getting back at her for a 3-to-0 trouncing of Beyonce in the awards sector..obviously. "Adele's Life Don't Matter".

How loving.. the L-E's  Foreclosure Section was a full 8 pages today.. Happy Valentine's Day.

Online headline: " Al Franken suggests some GOP senators worry about Trump's mental health" -- Hmmm.. well, the Democrats couldn't have picked out a better representative to speak for them.. Franken, on his best day,  is but a joke.

---
Online headline: "Evacuations ordered below damaged California dam" -- Hey, Governor Moonbeam,, how about ordering a couple of "snail darters" and some indigenous algae to identified, then order that they be protected at all cost, and see if that will stop any water from being "released".

Coordinated Headline: "Oroville Dam: Feds and state officials ignored warnings 12 years ago" -- Wow! Mainsceam media and the Democrats have found another way to "Blame Bush". Now, why didn't Obama do something about it in the 8 years he was president?

---
From the "libs must be conflicted" department - Online headline/story: "Yale to change name of college tied to 19th century slavery defender * The college is named for John C. Calhoun, a South Carolina native who served as U.S. vice president under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. He graduated from Yale College in 1804. *  Yale said it will rename Calhoun College for Grace Murray Hopper, an alumnus who received a PhD in mathematics and mathematical physics in 1934. It described Hopper, who died in 1992, as a trailblazing computer scientist and a brilliant mathematician who also served as a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy." -- Whatta lib dilemma! Of all the people selected to replace a slave advocate, Yale picked a woman who was a warmonger, has a guided missile launching destroyer named after her  ... and kept her ex-husband's name even though she had no children.... Personally, I think she more than lived up to her nickname, "Amazing Grace", but it really must chap libs.

---
From the "CNN Fake News" department - Online headline/story: "Faith Hill Responds To CNN Mistake * Last week, CNN took to Twitter to announce an upcoming hip-hop collaboration between Faith Evans and the late Notorious B.I.G. Unfortunately, the network mistakenly announced the duet album would be done by country star Faith Hill, instead of Evans," -- Will mainscream mediocrity ever end?

---
From the "doesn't mainscream media have anything else to do" department - HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "What is Donald Trump really eating? * Donald Trump might not know too much about alcohol but he does know that KFC is Finger Lickin' Good.* Trump loves his fast food - including KFC and McDonald's. Last year he told the Daily Mail that he eats a ton of fast food on the road because quote, "it's quick"" -- Hmm.. so mainscream media is concerned about what Trump eats... I tell you what, it's obvious what Trump really eats is their lunch!

---
Online headline: "Sears, Kmart drop 31 Trump Home items from their online shops * Hmm and there are 150 Sears/K-mart stores closing this year.. Looks more like Trump voters are dumping Sears/K-marts.

---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "Trump on Warren: 'Pocahontas is now the face' of Democratic party" -- It's not often that I disagree with a Trump assessment, but in this case, I think Elizabeth Warren's image is more in tune with the southside of  a Jackass.

---
From the "libs may change their minds about moving" department - Online headline/story: " Canadian man who beheaded bus passenger granted total freedom * A Canadian man who was found not criminally responsible for beheading and cannibalizing a fellow passenger on a Greyhound bus has been granted his freedom. *  Manitoba’s Criminal Code Review Board announced Friday it has given Will Baker, formerly known as Vince Li, an absolute discharge, meaning he is longer subject to monitoring. * Baker said he heard the voice of God telling him to kill the man or “die immediately.” * He repeatedly stabbed McLean while he fought for his life. As passengers fled the bus, Baker continued stabbing and mutilating the body before he was arrested. He severed McLean’s head, displaying it to some of the passengers outside the bus, witnesses said." * The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 1999 that a review board must order an absolute discharge if a person doesn’t pose a significant threat to public safety."-- "heard the voice of God telling him to kill the man or 'die immediately'"? Wait a minute.. he didn't hear God say that.. maybe a "god" , maybe Allah, but not God. On the other hand.. now you see what happens when libs run the Supreme Court...

---
From the "oxymoron headline" department - Online headline: " 'MORAL MARCH' Massive crowd protests Trump, anti-LGBT law in NC" -- "Moral March"?

---
Mixture of personal contributions and some online stories - I may be rethinking my membership in Netflix. On April 28th (which is also my birthday), Netflix will air a series called "Dear White People". The show expands on Justin Simien's 2014 movie of the same name, which chronicled the lives of several black students at a predominately white, Ivy-like university as racial tensions spike. In the new 30-second spot, protagonist Samantha White bluntly ticks off a list of acceptable Halloween costumes on her radio show: "Pirate, slutty nurse, any of our first 43 presidents. Top of the list of unacceptable costumes: Me," she says amidst a flurry of photos of fellow students in blackface." -- Hmmm.. while I will not condemn the show until I actually watch an episode... or two... I bring note to the "pith" of the promotional info.. I'm 70, and have never "black-faced myself" nor approved of such by any on my generation.. and secondly, who will take note that though the setting is "the lives of several black students at a predominately white, Ivy-like university" versus  how it will probably malign Southern schools.

---
I heard a liberal spinmeister say that the problem with attacking-style media coverage of Trump is because Trump attacks.the media...Huh? What I've seen from day one is mainscream media attacking Trump, and Trump, not.only defending himself, but turning the tables on rude reporters.

---
You know, when black and white citizens and leaders realize they have one destructive enemy they share..America will reach its potential. It's not ISIS, it's not each other..it's liberals..and it doesn't matter whether they are politicians or media, Democrats or Republicanish, black.or white..liberalism is America's worst enemy.

---
Hey, libs..you, too, mainscream media..we know you won't like Trump...period..so just get on with your lives and stop reminding us why we are so grateful to have Trump rather than Hillary running the economy and our safety.

---
Online story: "With President Trump pledging $1 trillion for infrastructure, California officials on Wednesday took a break from their feud with the new administration to propose a list of $100 billion in projects for possible federal funding to help rebuild the Golden State’s system of crumbling roads and bridges and improve transit and water storage. * The state faces a $136-billion backlog of necessary repairs on state highways and local roads,." -- Good grief.. Jerry Brown threatens secession, then holds up his hand and yells, "me too.. me, too" when he hears about Trump wanting to spend mega-bucks on infrastructure.. and California wants more that it would take to build not only the wall on our Southern border, but also for a wall to be built around the California border with the other contiguous 47 states. I'll make this a "motion".. do I hear a "second"?

---
From the "passing the buck" department -- Picture of both Clinton women's husbands "H->"ing  off the loss to their wives..

---
If you wonder why mainscream media is focusing so hard on Trump, you have to realize that mainscream media doesn't want to address the Clinton problems.. their foundations are taking hits because "pay for play" donors know the Clintons no longer have any "play" for donors to "pay", but also, the Clinton's son-in-law "hedgefund" was "shuttered" (closed down) in December for sustaining other people's investment losses that rivaled hers.

---
Yesterday, Representative Hank Johnson, D-GA4, held a " listening session to hear from our Muslim, immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters on what they’re experiencing and how we can all help bring about change and greater understanding". Hmmm... I wonder if considered whether too many in attendance in one place might "tip Georgia over"?

---
L-E headline: "City manager: New government center could cost $100 million or more" -- Hmmm... and we could get a new City Manager for only $100K or so...and even a good one for $150K.

---
Council Agenda:
"REMOVAL, RECYCLING, REUSE OR DISPOSAL OF MATTRESSES & BOX SPRINGS FROM PINE GROVE MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE LANDFILL – It is requested that council approve the contract for mattress recycling, reuse, or disposal services with Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta Inc. (Atlanta) for the estimated contract value of $35,000 annually. Pine Grove Landfill takes in approximately 50 mattresses or box springs per day; which equates to approximately 13,000 annually. It is the city’s intent to divert all mattresses and box springs from Pine Grove Landfill in an effort to meet diversion goals and increase landfill compaction rates." -- This $35,000.00 contract... are we getting paid for the mattresses,  or giving them the mattresses and $35K?

---
From the "libs can turn on a dime" department - LIV's L-E "soundoff": "The world knows that our President did not serve in the military. Yet he criticizes Senator McCain, one of our heroes." -- Hmmm.. libs are so transparent,, in 2008, the libs fawned over McCain during the primaries, but once he got the nomination, hey chewed him up and spit him out.

---
From the "can I get an Amen" department - L-E "soundoff": " Just because I refuse to lower my moral standards doesn’t make me a hateful person." -- AMEN!

---
L-E story: "Democratic members of Columbus’ legislative delegation will host a “Georgia Resists” town hall meeting * The initiative aims to mobilize Georgians to engage with their elected officials and organize their communities around progressive issues at the state, local and national level." -- Good grief.. I'm sure Atlanta will take notice... and "write Columbus off"... again... How many time can a City vote 60% +/- for Democrats and expect to win favor of the Republican Party?

---
L-E story: "Fear and panic have gripped America’s immigrant community as reports circulate that federal agents have become newly aggressive under President Donald Trump, who campaigned for office with a vow to create a “deportation force.” -- Good grief.. while a lot of citizens can be excused for not seeing the follow-up report on the ICE deporting  that Mexican woman with the criminal record, writers for the AP, WaPO, and the Columbus L-E have no-nada-ZERO excuse for not seeing the story telling us that the raid ICE made was made.. finalized.. under Obama.. and just occurred after Trump took office.

---
L-E headline: "Shaw senior charged with surreptitiously recording student in restroom" -- "surreptitiously"? Now that's a word that wasn't in the last Spelling Bee.. maybe it will be next year.. flavored by a good local example usage sentence.

---
L-E headline/story: "Tractor-trailer truck overturns on Airport Thruway *  “I mashed the brakes and I said ‘I ain’t got no brakes,’ ” * Worthy said to his brother-in-law riding in the cab. “I kept blowing the horn for people to move out of my way. I pulled the trailer brakes and everything.” As he made the wide (round-about) turn to get onto Airport Thruway, Worthy said he couldn’t get in other lanes because of heavy traffic. He was traveling 30 to 35 mph. " -- Hmmm..and just wait until top-heavy loaded logging trucks start trying to navigate the River Road "Roundabout"...

---
L-E story: "Republicans love cutting taxes, especially if they were authored by a president named Barack Obama. But as they push their wobbly effort to erase his health care overhaul, they’re divided over whether to repeal the levies the law imposed to finance its expanded coverage for millions of Americans. * It’s a trillion-dollar dilemma – actually closer to $1.1 trillion. That’s the 10-year price tag the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office puts on revenue the government would lose if the law’s taxes on wealthy people, the insurance and pharmaceutical industries and others were eliminated." -- Good grief.. mainscream media has drunk so much liberal Kool-Aid that it believes government forcing people to comply by penalizing them is good for the economy! The Citizens will not lose the $1.1 TRILLION.. they will keep it in their pockets and spend it however they please which will spur the economy!

---
L-E story: "House Democrats are united against President Donald Trump, but as they wrapped up a somewhat painful, inward-looking retreat on Friday, they are still trying to figure out how to turn that opposition into a winning strategy." -- Maybe Democrats should "look inward".. and notice they are in the minority in so many ways that they need to look at what forward thinking Americans actually want!

---
L-E "headlie": "Fixing travel ban’s legal problems won’t be an easy task" -- Well, it would be if mainscream media used truthful headlines.. such as referring to Trump's Executive Order as an "ENTRY ban" versus a "travel ban".

---
You know, all the denials, all the tweaked reports, or all the "favorably facted" L-E stories about crime being less go out the door when newcomers or business leaders/scouts come to town and ride on Veterans Parkway between River Rd and 13th St. There are 11 businesses that have fenced themselves in with barb and/or razor wire visible from the street.

---
L-E headline: "Poverty should be addressed, agree grassroots leaders" -- Good grief.. it was calculated that $22,000,000,000.000.00 .. (That's 22 TRILLIONDollars.. that's 10% more than our current NATIONAL DEBT!) has been spent since LBJ created the "Great Society.. War on Poverty" back in the 1960's.. Government cannot solve poverty by running entitlement programs..

---
L-E headline: "Big concert will benefit ACLU" -- Hmmm am I missing something.. nowhere does this indicate that America will benefit...

---
LIV's pathetic L-E "soundoff": "Republican ranks could swell by millions if they would — like Democrats — recruit, instead of reject, Hispanic and Muslim immigrants. These are primarily people of faith, whose values are more conservative than liberal." -- Good grief.. why would Republicans HAVE to RECRUIT? People are free to choose their political philosophy  based on what's important to them.. Do they want to be independent or basically a slave to government?

---
Really stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "When Republicans repeal Obamacare the number of uninsured in Georgia will jump by 71%, and 1,006,000 Georgians will lose health insurance." -- Good grief.. when people bought into OObamaCRAP because they would be "penalty taxed" if they didn't, who can call that a willing or working system?

---
L-E headline: "VANITY FAIR CONFIDENTIAL * Show looks at Columbus’ ‘Stocking Stranglings’" -- Good grief.. a magazine known better for "exposures" than an " exposé " and that considers "Cait" a female is going to solve the Stocking Strangler case.. Good grief.. gimmee a break!

---
L-E story: "A later spring break is on the proposed 2017-2018 school calendar for the Muscogee County School District. * Spring break this school year is March 20-24 but next school year will be a week later, during March 26-30. * Students will still get a week off for Thanksgiving. *  For the winter break, the students will attend class on Dec. 20 then not return until Jan. 8. Counting weekends that is 18 days away from class. * Students will be off for Labor Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day and Memorial Day." -- Wow.. you know, there's no need for a full week off for Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri should be ample) and there's no need for the "Winter (vs Christmas) Break to go a week past January 1st, and there's no need for school to end before the first of June.. There. I think I've solved a lot of problems.. School can begin the day after Labor Day (saving that holiday expense) so when you figure the days saved during the school year, you can do this.. and save not only the expense of air conditioning during the hottest months of the year, you'd give families a full summer off for vacations and other family visits. Even the City's outdoor pools would benefit! Win-Win in my book.. Oh.. was it intentional that "Easter" was left out of the hoiliday system?

NOTE: I noticed this story was done by Larry Gierer rather than Mark Rice.. could it be the L-E finally sees the conflict of having a reporter who's wife works for the MCSD (and another who's wife is on the MCSB) being restrictive in addressing issues within the MCSD?

---
From the above MCSD story: "The board is being asked to approve Landmark Grading Company for the construction of a parking lot for Columbus High School and to amend the project budget to include additional funding of $200,000." -- Aside from the "coincidence" of this getting on the agenda following questions about why this property was paid for last year but nothing done about it, is the "additional funding of $200,000.00" the total cost of razing the home and converting the space to parking, or is it " "additional funding " for what was projected originally.. Somehow, $450,000.00 (close to half a million to purchase plus construction) for what.. 50 more spaces,, is hardly a bargain.

---

Another item from above MCSD story: "Scheduled to address the board on the public agenda are Marianne Young, Felissa Grissett and Gail Tompkins. The topics were not given in the board agenda." -- You know, what are the chances that I could get a speaking spot at a MCSB meeting and my subject matter not be disclosed at the time of the request?

If you have Netflix.. there is a movie available that you must watch... "Woman in Gold",, I don't even remember if it was offered at the theaters in the Columbus, GA viewing area, but it's EXCELLENT... as is the cast..It stars Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds in the main roles. It's about restitution of art stolen by the Nazi's and the difficulties of a Jewish woman trying to recover a particular personal painting that had ended up as the "star" in the Austrian government's museum. Of note is the transformation of a previously less than successful lawyer who came into his own... See it! It will bless your time..

---
Hey, FOX & FRIENDS... after watching Geraldo rant his support on your and my time yesterday AM on letting improperly vetted refugees et al come into our country, I am turning you off as soon as you announce his presence on any future shows.

Speaking of Geraldo.. remember last year when jihadist terrorized Paris? Remember the angst as Geraldo feared for his daughter who was in Paris at the time? He had a different opinion of unvetted "travelers" at that time.. I suspect his current position reflects his disdain for Trump.. and wanting to regain importance in the mainscream media/A-List world of fantasy. Oh.. by the way.. "Geraldo" isn't his birth name.. He was born Gerald.. and added the "o" to sound more Latino...

---
It's strange, if nothing else, that the 3-judge appeal panel didn't publish Trump's actual Executive Order in their decision. If there was anything in the Executive Order that was illegally, they could have easily pointed it out... and they SHOULD have.

---
I am so glad that Trump is our President.. any other Republican would roll over and play dead (hmmm... that's probably why the Republican primary voters rejected - other than Cruz -  all the other candidates.. they were DOGS!) Trump standing up against the lower court judges is part of his "drain the swamp" movement that has endeared him to the American voters.

---
Speaking of the 3 judge panel.. did you see Hellary's "tweet... simply, "3-0"..Would someone remind Hellary that she was not only "0 for 3" in WI, MI, & PA, but she's "0 for 2" in presidential efforts.

---
Soapbox Moment: Trump should revoke Gorsuch's nomination...not because he not qualified, nor because he's become less qualified since his nomination.. but.. when he commented on Trump's comment about the court being wrong on staying his Executive Order. Because it's an issue that may come up before the Supreme Court after his confirmation,  Gorsuch has set himself up to have to recuse himself when this does comes before the Supreme Court, and with the politics of some of the current Justices, a 4-4 decision would send it back to the lower judge's decision which was wrong... just plain wrong.

---
Yesterday was "Day of Rage" in Iran, and demonstrators burned US flags in protest of the ENTRY ban.. Who cares! I had a "day of rage" as well.. RAGE at mainscream media covering the Iran "Day of Rage".

---
Online headline/story: "Georgia settles suit challenging voter registration process *  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Georgia will no longer reject voter registration applications that don’t exactly match identifying information in state and federal databases. * Candice Broce, a spokeswoman for Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, says the settlement was advised by the state’s attorney general and will avoid the cost of further litigation." --  Won't "reject voter registration applications that don't match identifying information"? ... To "avoid the cost of further litigation"? Wait a damn minute.. what is the cost of litigation got to do with making sure voter fraud is not ended!  As far as I'm concerned, Brian Kemp is no longer worthy of becoming the next GA Governor, and Deal should take action against him staying on as Secretary of State!

http://onlineathens.com/local-news/2017-02-09/georgia-settles-suit-challenging-voter-registration-process

---
L-E headline/story: "$1 million plaza planned for Martin Pedestrian Bridge, RiverWalk * The Georgia Department of Transportation is paying $800,000 of the costs and the city will pick up the other $200,000, according to an agreement the Columbus Council approved in December. * The local 20 percent match will come from the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax discretionary funds and is already budgeted in the fiscal 2017 Capital Improvement Program." -- Let's talk about who's REALLY paying for ALL the bill, and, in Columbus taxpayers situation, OVERPAYING! The bill is for $1,000,000.00 taxdollars.. but that's not the whole story.. Those $200,000.00 coming from the T-SPLOST.. well since Columbus only gets .85 cents back out of each $1.00 we pay in, then the $200,000.00 is actually costing us about $230,000.00!

---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "Protesters block Education Secretary Betsy DeVos' entry into DC school" -- Sorta explains why public schools have floundered.. floundered so that Democrats do not want new people to know what's been going on inside of them...

---
From the "hmmm... and we wonder why education is at new lows" department - Online story: "The principal of a fancy New York City private school says the election of President Trump is worse than the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. * Steve Nelson, principal of the Calhoun School, fired off a hate-filled email to parents blasting the president. He also said Trump's election would be more devastating than Vietnam, Watergate and the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." -- I hate to give (_*_)s media highlights, but this guy's name should be on the tip of the tongue of every citizen who is ever charged with finding a new principal for any school in their community.. STEVE NELSON... certifiable prick!

---
Hmmm.. Trump just finished his 3rd week since his inauguration as our 45th Presodent.. At the rate that liberals are imploding so far, there may be none left to vote in 2018...

---
From the "well, well, well" department - Online headline/story: "ICE: Southern California raids were planned for a while, not tied to Trump * Immigration arrests across Southern California over the past week were planned before President Trump took office and could be compared to similar operations the occurred last summer, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said." -- "planned BEFORE Trump took office"? Hmmm... oh... then all the liberal frenzy and protests of a Mexican mother being deported  should really be aimed at OBAMA.. and his legacy.

---
L-E headline/story: "Holocaust survivor: My father said, ‘We’re home, we’re going to be safe’ * “And then I looked out, and I kind of saw what he was crying about,” Greenblat said Thursday. “What I saw was one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen — the Statue of Liberty. She was lit up. I guess it’s the imagination of an 8-year-old, but I had never seen anything like that. * “My father said, ‘We’re home, we’re going to be safe,’” he said." -- Hmm.. and now immigrants/refugees look around and wonder if the person next to them may kill them in America with a jihadist terror attack.

L-E commentary/content: "Why ban, temporary or not, was a bad idea * As the (temporary) travel ban executive order hit the newsstands, it seemed like a no-brainer victory for the White House, I suppose. Muslims from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen would not be allowed to enter the United States for a period of time. It was sure to please the conservative base, and divide the Democrats between progressives who would oppose it, and moderates unwilling to oppose it, in the hopes of winning in 2018 and 2020" -- Good grief! As Ronald Reagan might say, "Well, ASSociate professor John Tures, there you go again."   It's not, nor ever has been, a "TRAVEL BAN"! It is a temporary "ENTRY BAN" into the US from countries who have no stable governments nor diplomatic relations with the US. Therefore, the US has no expectations of being able to "vet" refugees or random travelers from those 7 countries, and it is of benefit to our nations safety to stop such situations until the US can validate identities of people trying to gain access to our country.

Friday, February 10, 2017

Online headline: "Trump and Clinton respond to courts ruling on travel ban * The president and his former Democratic rival had vastly different responses to an appeals court decision not to reinstate the travel ban" -- First.. and I repeat, it's not a "travel" ban, it's a temporary "ENTRY"  ban, but there's a bigger issue .. these folks so opposed of our vetting refugees/"travelers" from the unstable 7 countries are mostly the same folks who are hoping that God has no vetting to enter into Heaven.

---
I'm amazed at how much attention and fawning mainscream media is giving to Democratic Party Congressional people's "ideas" for new laws.. none of them will ever reach legislative action...

---
I learned something this morning that shocked me.. Lady Gaga is only 30!  After seeing pictures of her dropping into the NRG stadium at the Super Bowl halftime show, I thought she was the same age as Madonna .. and trying to look as good as my wife does.. but without success.

---
Senator Rubio orated about Senator Warren's uncalled for Senate Chamber impugning of Senator Session's character. Rubio said we are only country that can govern even though half the country hates the other half..I think Rubio needs straightening out. While liberals do openly demonstrate their hatred for conservatives, conservatives do not not do so in return..conservatives just correctly disagree and move on with keeping this country on the best path it can despite who has the majority political power.

---
Does anyone else find it strange, no..hypocritical, that Democrats are suddenly concerned with ethics, when they steered clear of looking into the Clintons, Obama, or Charlie Rangel?

---
After 14 or so years, just conducted my last account interaction with WOW..got my old number "ported" over to Spectrum/Charter, and paid my last bill. I tell you what, I didn't realize until Spectrum's service started how bad my "WOW" service was...gone are the interminable "sorry for the service interuption" messages we received daily, and for the first time, my WiFi router reaches all rooms of our home. To boot, I have a 3- year guarantee of the same price each month. Highly recommend if you have an option to change.

---
Why does NY keep sending Upchuck Schmoozer back to the Senate? After years of having businesses leave NY because of high taxes , NY has lowered taxes and is advertising such seeking new/return businesses, but when have you seen Upchuck offer new tax cuts for the other 49 states? Or support Trump's plan to keep.. and bring back ..companies  by eliminating crippling tax structure and regulations.

---
L-E headline: "GEORGIA GAMBLING * Columbus back in the game for casinos" -- Hmmm... sounds to be that a "Wright" good bit of money has been deposited in the "Wright" pockets and campaign accounts.. I guess, also, it the "Wright" person reaches the "Wright" persons, they will come up with a "Wright" answer. ...even when it's the WRONG one.

---
From the "the contest is over" department -- We have a winner of the best L-E "soundoff" EVER: "Final request - When I die, I want two Falcons, two Braves and two Bulldogs to serve as pallbearers so they can let me down one last time. "

---
A "close runner up" L-E "soundoff": "We need magnet schools required for all kids who don’t want an education, so students who do can get one. Until then, the only hope for poor parents stuck with failing schools is voucher programs." -- Amen, Brother!

---
L-E story: " (Libba) Russell, a historian for the Muscogee County School District, noted that when the county was founded in 1826 and when Columbus was founded in 1828 neither included any public schools. The city’s first public school opened in 1867 and was for whites only, Russell said. The city’s first public school for blacks was opened in 1868, the former Claflin School, she said." -- Excuse me.. why is it that "historians" insist Claflin was the FIRST school in Columbus to educate blacks? There is a Historical marker on 1st Avenue (between 12th and 13th Streets" proclaiming the old theater as being the first school for blacks, and a Historical time line at the Springer stating that the Temperance Hall became the first school for blacks in 1866. Please.. everybody get the facts straight... or at least coordinated.

On a purely local Columbus area basis.. the Exchange Club of Columbus is having a "All The Pancakes You Can Eat" breakfast fundraiser tomorrow at the Shrine Club on Edgewood Rd... Starts at 7:00 AM.. L-E Commentary headline/content: "Does Columbus have a property or a sales tax problem? * the CCG Accountability Forum, led by Tollie Strode, one of the mayor’s most ardent critics. *  The group’s plans call for a reorganization of CCG finances and accounting; the reshaping of the “anemic” sales tax revenue structure; and responding to “systemic change” in city expenses. *  Strode said he based his analysis on data published in the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. * He says the city’s financial position has declined in recent years, with an 89 percent increase in spending since 2001 and a 39 percent increase in revenue. To address the problem, he recommended no increases in property taxes, which he described as regressive; a five-year moratorium on capital projects, with some exceptions; a freeze on hiring for some new positions; and rigorously testing Tax Allocation District projects based on sales tax and property tax justifications. * “We don’t have a property tax problem; we have a sales tax problem” he said. “And after all the investments that promised a return, we’re not seeing it.” --  Am I detecting an "about time" meltdown in the L-E's penchant to back Tom-LYING-son and Hugley regardless of the facts?  Having worked with Tollie Strode on the "Keep the Freeze" campaign, I know Tollie is well informed and well focused on his tasks.. maybe we can convince him to run for Mayor in 2018.

L-E guest commentary headline: "ANALYSIS * Sessions faces a tough job at Justice * BY DEL QUENTIN WILBER * Tribune Washington Bureau" -- "Sessions faces a tough job"? WRONG.. Sessions has an easy job.. just uphold the Constitution as written. The folks with the "tough jobs" will be liberals having to relearn and re-accept what the Constitution really says.

L-E headline/story: "Police searching for person who robbed Columbus Civic Center ATM * Police are searching for the person who broke into the Columbus Civic Center on Feb. 1 and robbed the ATM. * According to Columbus police, the crime occurred around 2:20 a.m." -- Surely the Civic Center has an alarm system and security videos... and it's what.. 10 blocks from the CPD?

From the "I gotta print this Columbus L-E editorial  verbatim" department:

 "HISTORY ON THE MOVE

Even as you read this, perhaps the most iconic of all Georgia historic and artistic treasures is rolling through the streets of Atlanta.

The Cyclorama — the massive panoramic oil painting that depicts in epic detail the Battle of Atlanta on July 22, 1864 — is being moved from Grant Park, its home since 1921, to a new facility built specially for it at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead.

The 359-foot-long, 42-foot-high, 12-ton painting will undergo intensive restoration, as will the diorama that for decades has filled the space between the canvas and the viewers. (The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported a detail that probably few of us knew — the diorama was a New Deal work project of the mid-1930s, a half-century after the painting’s 1886 debut.)

A trip to the Cyclorama at Grant Park has been a rite of educational passage for more of us who grew up in this area than we could even begin to estimate. But the almost century-old building’s leaks and its temperature and humidity fluctuations have caused the exhibit to deteriorate toward a point of no return.

Its new climate-controlled exhibit building is the centerpiece of a $35 million project to save a priceless and irreplaceable American monument. We wish it a safe and uneventful trip to its new home."

Wanna bet than when it's time to re-open the exhibit in its new "home", the L-E will join in a protest that excoriates the "priceless and irreplaceable American monument" as racist because there are Confederate Flags in it?
