Some NFL kicker made a crossbar assisted 66 yard field goal in a NFL game yesterday but I can't even remember who this morning.. but I'll never forget the 63 yard field goal made by Tom Dempsey of the Saints to beat the Detroit Lions for he last of the Saints two wins that 1970 season... It wasn't just the length of the kick.. but because the NFL goal posts were actually on the goal line then, Dempsey kicked it from his own 37-yard line! I also remember Alex Karras of Detroit being on Johnny Carson the week following, and Carson asked him about "the kick".. I think "The View" pulled a con on America Friday... VP Chuckles Harris was scheduled to appear "live" for an extended interview period , but as the show opened, it was revealed that 2 of the "sitting on stage" panel had been tested "positive" for Covid-19 and then they walked off the stage. Wanted to wait until after the Columbus Council meeting tomorrow when the backroom deal for the City to buy Synovus property on the 1100 blocks of Broadway and 1st Avenue was discussed "openly", but more details came out early.. Looks like the City WANTS to pay Synovus $25,000,000.00 for properties the City currently values (and taxes on) at about half that amount.. then spend another $25,000,000.00 adapting the property for City office space use, while at the same time, not only will the City remove the tax revenues received from those properties, the City still wants to rebuild the Government Center offices it no longer will need buy pushing a $400,000,000.00 MILLION DOLLAR 1-percent sales tax SPLOST!

By the way.. one bit of history not mentioned is that it includes the property my family's locally historic department store occupied until 1987.

I also object for the City to take over property vital to the health of UpTown Columbus' business district.. Look how the City allowed the newcomer Government Center complex "rot" into an eyesore that needs total replacement after 50 years...versus the condition these UPTown properties have been maintained...
