Taiwan (officially the Republic of China or ROC) is in the news... but what do we know about Taiwan? It's an island off the coast of China that was formerly known as Formosa, has a population of over 23,000,000 and is 13,826 sq miles. The US states of california and Texas are the only 2 that have higher populations.. It's capital is Taipei, and it's history shows it was founded by the Dutch, annexed by China in 1663, ceded to Japan in 1895, and given back to China in 1945 following Japan's defeat in WWII. The Chinese Communist Party took over mainland China in 1949, and the ROC fled to Taiwan which brings us pretty much up-to-date. Taiwan is an important state.. Taiwan is a developed country, ranking 20th on GDP per capita. It is ranked highly in terms of civil liberties and healthcare, and human development. There is a lot at stake should China invade and overthrow the ROC...

Looks like I called it right yesterday...Br'er Biden and Br'er Xi "threw" Br'er Binary PeLOUSY "into the Taiwan briar patch".... this, combined with picking off a near dying Al Qaeda relic, even the price of oil and inflation dropped off the front page headlines... And that brought out the Republicans, thumping their chests and applauding... and praising PeLOUSY...ain't much gonna change in November if the Republicans don't get focused and stop being "played".

---
Neither the efforts nor dollars the Republicans spend pointing out the Democrats' "flaws" will generate enough new votes to create the Red Wave in November.. The Republican strategy needs to be aimed at inspiring the conservatives who have lost interest or stopped voting, and give the moderate Democrats and "Libertarians" something to change their voting patterns. It will take a real plan of things the Republicans can correct versus just regurgitating the Democrat failures.

Tuesday's "Night Out" celebration of First Responders and our neighborhood was glorious!
You would think the City would have been concerned about getting all the debris picked up before the First Responders Night Out .. well , in our neighborhood, some got picked up, some didn't... Maybe in future "Night Out" adventures, some Councilors and Department heads might join the convoys.

After watching the LIV golf tournament from Trump's NJ golf facility, it was apparent that the PGA lost credibility by taking it's Championship tournament away from it. It's an interesting and exciting layout..

You know, that "former" deputy sheriff "Dennis" that Stacey Abrams has shilling lies about the new "Carry Law" for guns in GA must have gotten drummed out for lying. Somebody ask him... even ask Abrams... why they are against law abiding citizens being armed for self protection because they know any criminals they might meet are going to carry guns even though there are laws against them doing so.

From the "Paul Revere" department -- The Braves are coming! The Braves... and the World Series Trophy are coming!.. Friday at 4:00 at the Home Depot..

Looks like Joe Manchin is having "buyer regret" after saying he'd vote with Schumer. Saw him twice trying to defend his vote on TV yesterday, but also saw him fervently trying to lock Sen. Sinema of Arizona in on the bill also.. that confirms that Schumer promised the moon to Manchin's West Virginia state.

From the "damn the truth, full speed ahead" department - Online story: "White House economic adviser Jared Bernstein spoke to Fox News moments after a panel of swing-state voters criticized President Biden over inflation and perceived inaction on the energy crisis, telling the network he needed to "fact check" some voters' pronouncements. * One voter who reportedly owned a towing business was exasperated at fuel prices, and Bernstein started by thanking the voters for their input but took exception to the woman's claim gas has only fallen a "couple of cents" in recent weeks. * "I do think, though, that there's a couple of fact-checks I want to do. Someone said that they thought the gas price had come down a couple of cents. That's just factually incorrect. It's down $0.83 off of its peak since mid-June," he said." -- Hmmm... and Bernstein was talking about Regular Gas which has lowered primarily because some states have dropped their "gas tax" and drivers are driving as much so "demand" has dropped because people are not driving as much, but the conversation about the cost of fuel not dropping much was about DIESEL fuel for trucks... in New England diesel fuel has dropped 7.6 cents since July 25th, but is still up $2.20 cents from a year ago and transport companies don't have the liberty to "not drive" that families have.. The White House is blowing smoke up Democrats rear ends... but it's not working...

Talk about "PeLOUSY privilege".. Online story: "Paul Pelosi, the multimillionaire husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, allegedly had a drug in his system, addressed officers with slurred speech, and tried to hand them a police courtesy card during his May arrest on DUI charges, according to court documents. * Pelosi allegedly handed officers his driver’s license and an "11-99 Foundation" card when they asked for his ID, according to the documents. The 11-99 Foundation is a California Highway Patrol charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children." -- Good grief! Paul PeLOUSY feels he has the equivalence of a Monopoly Game "Get Out Of Jail Free" card! Oh... and no comment about the drugs.. other than an excessive an=mount of alcohol.. that was found in his blood test..

From the "Paul Revere rides" department - The Braves are Coming, the Braves are coming!" Yes, on Friday, Aug 5, 2022, some Braves and the World Series Trophy will be at The Home Depot here in Columbus, GA.. 4:00 PM.

Online headline: "Georgia's gas tax suspension to be extended, governor's office says" -- of course it will....and it'll stay on through the November Election unless Kemp wants to hand the election over to Abrams on a silver platter?

---
Online story: "California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta announced Monday that the state has reached a settlement with the federal government to halt new oil and gas leases on public lands in Central California until the potential risks to public health and the environment are adequately assessed." -- Hmmm... what really needs to be re-assessed are the current AND potential risks of to public health and the environment in california with Gavin Newsom in control...

---
Online headline: "Restrictions on ballot drop off boxes in Georgia impact voters of colour, investigation finds" -- "Restrictions on ballot drop off boxes in Georgia impact voters of colour"? -- "voters of colour"?good grief ... Hmmm as public education reverted to the Queen's Socialist English?

---
No sooner than I mention that all guards.. all employees .. of Georgia prisons need to be "frisked" for contraband when they come and go from work, and three Georgia prison guards gets arrested for such..

---
Online headline: "Horror author Stephen King is set to testify for the DOJ in trial to block $2.2 billion merger between Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster because it will result in top-selling writers receiving smaller advances" -- Hmmm .. the point King is missing is that if there is no merger, one or both of these companies might "go under" and authors could get NO ADVANCES versus "smaller advances"...

---
Online "headLIE" "Supreme Court certifies ruling ending Trump border policy" -- Wrong! The Supreme Court just confirmed that Trump's policy was Trump's policy as the sitting president, and another Resident Biden could invoke his own policies... Hopefully, Biden recognizes that all the Trump policies he;s already changed were wrong moves, and not change this one...

---
Online headline: "Nearly 500 grams of fentanyl found in Columbus (GA) man’s house, officials say" -- Surely this monster can be associated with some of the fentanyl deaths our community has suffered... and charged with those murders as well! Oh, and where are the charges for a felon in possession of firearms?

---
Online headline: "Sen. Warnock cites 'bipartisanship,' avoids Biden in Georgia" -- Hmmm.. so much for Senator Pastor Warnock's "unity".. as a Democrat, as a Georgian, and as a Christian...

---
Online headline: "Should governor Brian Kemp resign? Many Georgians say YES" -- Hmmm... sounds like Abrams and the Democrats are already stuffing ballot and drop-off boxes..

---
WRBL-TV3 headline: "City of Columbus gets the keys to downtown Synovus property, renovation underway" -- Hmmm... and we wonder whether the landmark history plaque will be kept for prosperity sake... the plaque identifying the Kirven Department Store Location being there for nearly 100 years...

---
Online headline: "Kansas rejects weakening of abortion rights in ballot initiative" -- hmm.. Kansas just proved that the US Supreme Court was right in reversing the overreach of the 1973 Supreme Court ruling known as "Roe v. Wade".. It should have been a states' issue under our 10th Amendment then, and now it is...

---
Well, Georgia has responded well to the Supreme Court's decision for states to determine when life begins... pregnant Georgia residents can now file unborn fetuses as "dependents" on their income taxes... and his will undoubtedly lead to pregnant women drivers to be able to officially ride in the High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes through Atlanta...

---
Online headline: 'More people of color are running for Congress in mostly white districts and winning, experts say" -- How can this be? All we hear is that Whites are all racist? Hmm.. sounds like another Democrat campaign point smear has been exposed as a lie...
