Think about what California wants to do...Gov Newsom wants to have control of your home thermostat! Talk about being in control... he could get a list of Republican voters, and send their thermostats to HEAT mode and 100 degree temps when you need air conditioning, or cut your heat off during a freak winter storm.. Even worse, he could turn your air conditioning down to 55 degrees while you were on summer vacation so your power bill would be off the charts when you got back.

Watched the meeting when the Muscogee County (GA) School Board responded to the devastating Milestone Test report, and it was quite revealing....Unfortunately, in a depressing, not joyous manner:

While some of the MCSB members showed real concern, it was disheartening to hear one MCSB member reveal her goal was having 50% of our students be proficient.. The goal.. even if it's "pie in the sky", should be for 100% of our students to be successful.

In the MCSB meeting video.. the Milestone Tests show that in the 3rd grade, only 27.7% of students are "proficient and above" in English Language Arts.. and that the State says only students in the "proficient and above" are ready for the next level. What the "expert" didn't show was that students leaving the 3rd Grade without grade level reading proficiency rarely.. if ever.. catch up...

MCSB members raising concern about how many students undeservedly get advanced had me fuming...as I recall, she was an advocate for eliminating the High School Graduation test and celebrated diplomas being back-issued to students who had failed the test in prior years.
