"Barackolypse Now"; "Debt Man Walking"..... new names popping up all over.. I think "Debt Man Walking" sums it up pretty good.
---
That Silver Tongued speech maker in the White House just showed how 'tarnished' potUS O'Blather has become. The DOW dropped 100 points in the first 5 minutes of his opening statement yesterday. Keep him in the closet!
---
When potUS O'Blather's spinmeisters try to 'spin' today's stock market action, it'll look life a whirlpool sucking the wealth down the toilet again.
---
AOL/HuffPost headline: "Obama Speaks, Markets Plunge" -- You know the liberals are restless within when the HuffPost goes after potUS O'Blather.
---
Don't you know Warren Buffet blew a gasket at being quoted by potUS O'Blather as his stock plunged? Reckon Buffet may need to take out a 'cease & desist' order against O'Blather mentioning his name?
---
I want to know the names of any Wall Street brokers who disagreed with the S&P downgrade. I wanna make sure none are investment managers on any fund I have money in.
---
A fellow BCer brought point to bear that it was probably the same committee that felt the last SPLOST of the MCSD could bring in $45 Million dollars annually for 5 years that produced the model that BRAC would bring in 4,000 new students. I iterate...it was probably the same committee that approved the CRCT.
---

Geithner summed up the potUS O'Blather economic disaster when re asked to stay on, and potUS O'Blather added the exclamation mark when he accepted him back, Geithner is the last member of the original economic team BECAUSE every one else was smart enough to abandon ship before the water was up to their necks!
---
Compromise between mutual and consenting parties has a lot of merit as both parties can see what they are getting or not getting, BUT political compromises made between politicos interested only in what it will do for their re-election versus what is good for America's future will be the death of us.
---
Online quote service:"Each generation goes further than the generation preceding it because it stands on the shoulders of that generation. You will have opportunities beyond anything we've ever known." - Ronald Reagan" -- Even with his vision for the future, POTUS Reagan could not see the 2006 & 2008 elections and the rise of potUS O'Blather and the DUMB&DUMBERat Congressional majorities. potUS O'Blather and the 2008 Congressional electives acted like crooked butchers. They placed their thumbs heavily on the scales, and have inflated the costs on future generations by putting heavy thumbs on the next generations backs (like the super heavy backpacks students carry to-and-from school).
---
Online headline: "John Kerry urges media to ignore the Tea Party" -- I reckon so...even if broadcast with a negative connotation, when the mainstream media airs the T.E.A. Party positions, more and more American independents get to see the T.E.A. Party message.
---
Online headline: "Oil Plunges To Lowest Price Of The Year Following Downgrade " -- Nothing went right for potUS O'Blather yesterday. Even his goal of $5.00 gasoline took a hit.
---
Online news: ""An event like this should change our thinking [about military spending]," Rep. Barney Frank (D - MA) said, blaming the U.S.'s large defense budget for the downgrade on CBS's The Early Show. -- Maybe this regurgitation will be the incentive for Massachusetts voters to recall Frank home from Washington. It amazed, no, stunned me when the Massachusetts voters sent him back after the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac collapse. Well, we can hope, anyway.
---
potUS O'Blather doesn't get it...even after the past few days. The stock drop had nothing to do with his claim that the debate over the debt ceiling upset people on Wall Street. The stock drop happened because the DUMB&DUMBERats refused to address the spending fiasco.
---
After the market drop. potUS O'Blather went to a fund raising dinner. Surely, anyone who gave him re-election money after yesterday should be considered a traitor to our country.
---
L-E story: ""She (Susan Andrews) said that none of the other districts comparable to Muscogee County -- those with 10,000 or more students and with a majority of students on the free lunch program -- met AYP, either." -- A few years ago, bad student performance was claimed to be caused by children not being fed at home, so the free food program was started. Now, blame for the bad scores are being associated with children because they are being fed free. OK MCSD system, which is it?
---
From another L-E 'school' story: "“We don’t have any students this year,” Principal Jeanella Pendleton said. “All of our children are being referred to as scholars and leaders because that is the mind-set we want to establish here. We are a leadership academy.” -- Hmmm, the old, "If you can't identify and solve the problem, rename it, and maybe it'll go away or just not be noticed again for a few years" strategy. Sorta like "ACORN".
---
L-E story: Columbus Council will be asked today to approve spending more than $1.6 million to buy a dilapidated apartment complex at 3551 Victory Drive, adjacent to the old Baker High School site. The 5.6-acre property will be given to the Development Authority for economic development purposes, according to Deputy City Manager David Arrington." -- After checking "the books". it appears the City valued the property at a shade over $800,000.00, and now is willing to pay the owner twice that amount. OK, Council, I want the same deal on my house!
---
The L-E has an online poll going on based on the question: "How badly was your stock portfolio affected on Monday?" The answer choices were A - "I'm in serious trouble", B- "I took a hit, but things could be worse', or 3 - "I don't mess with stocks". There was one answer the L_E should have given us a choice on, "I've fallen and I can't get up".
---
L-E sub-headline: "Interior Secretary Ken Salazar came to Anchorage on Monday and said the Obama administration supports more oil drilling in Alaska, potentially including offshore Arctic development." -- One of two things is happening here: Either potUS O'Blather's Interior Secretary has "gone rogue", or potUS O'Blather is trying to recruit Sarah Palin to replace VEEP Biden-Biden on the 2012 ballot.
---
L-E story: "ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Scientists have identified an orange-colored gunk that appeared along the shore of a remote Alaska village as millions of microscopic eggs filled with fatty droplets. * Officials with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Monday they don’t know what species the eggs are" -- Hmmm, now 'illegals' are trying to get into our country from our Northern Borders and this administration cannot identify them either.
---
You know, we can almost forgive X-POTUS Clinton for most of his lies because he was trying to cover up his personal indiscretions. potUS O'Blather, on the other hand, lies to distract the truth from his agenda. There's a huge difference.
---
There's a letter in the L-E written by a Phenix City person with a propaganda bias towards debt ceiling raises in the past. The L-E should identify party activists when publishing 'editorial commentary' from them. A simple "google" of the writers name reveals his political donation bias.
---
It's getting to the time of year that Major League Baseball's administration needs to take notice of the contenders. How embarrassing would it be if Detroit has to be shown in playoff series?
---
Bob Cousy is 83 today. He'll never die in my mind though, as I can still see his court mastery of getting the ball to other Celtics in ways that boggled the mind.

Monday, August 8, 2011

Good morning! A good morning indeed! Very proud to report one of our BCers has returned safely from Iraq. BTW, I'm his proud and grateful uncle.
---
Online headline: "U.S. Credit Rating Has 1 In 3 Chance Of Future Downgrade, Says Standard & Poor's Official " -- Like salt into a wound. when it rains, it "poors". What's sad is that POTUS Bush and potUS O'Blather could have stopped most of the damage with a few vetos. Hey, isn't that why one man was given the equality of both Houses of Congress?
---
Online headline: "Geithner: Standard & Poor's Showed 'Terrible Judgment' " -- Huh? Isn't this a little like a caldron calling a pot black...or in Geithner's case, maybe he's smoking pot. Maybe "Hail to the Chief" should be retired from White House use, and be replaced with "The Man in the Mirror"
---
Of course, if Geithner wants to 'spin' the S&P story, he should inject how slow the S&P was in downgrading the infamous 'mortgage investment bundles'...ooops, that won't work either, cause he should have 'manned up ' about that himself.
---
L-E story: "The Muscogee County School District has been preparing for as many as 4,000 students but reported Thursday there are currently only 54 registered students it can directly connect to BRAC. * “We have a model that says we’re going to have about 4,000 students,” (Dr. Susan) Andrews said, but added, “that model could be wrong.” -- "that model could be wrong"? It's beginning to look like "that model" was conjured up by the CRCT staff.
---
Any body had any thoughts about the Indiana Schhool District that was starting to charge a fee to ride the schools buses? It's an idea that merits local discussion as it is optional for most parents.
---
Does any one know how to contact Ricky Fowler while he's on the tour schedule? Some one needs desperately to bring up his choice of wardrobe. Yesterday he wore an orange (and fluorescent, at that) cap, shirt, and pants. Couldn't figure out why unless he had to leave from the course to attend a Clemson tailgate party, or to pick up trash along some stretch of highway.
---
This quote should be carved into the desk of every sitting Congressional member, and every presidential appointee: "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country."
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Timothy Geithner has told President Barack Obama that he will remain on the job as Treasury secretary. * Geithner is the only remaining top official on Obama’s original economics team." -- There are only three reasons Geithner stays: 1 - Geithner has made such a mess that he wants no one to come in and reveal any evidence of how bad he really has been, 2 - potUS O'Blather considers that if he replaced Geithner, Geithner would be out on the speaking tour as a loose cannon, and 3 - potUS O'Blather fears Fox News would hire Geithner and put him on Sean Hannity's "All-American Panel".
---
L-E headline: "Congress has a shot at passing jobs-creating bills" -- What the American public really wants is for Congress to just do its job...control spending and cut the waste of duplicate government programs. Any job 'created' that is actually a 'government job' will exacerbate the problems as it will continue to put a strain, no drain, on the private sector's wallets. The best Congress can do is get off the track.
---
L-E headline: "45,000 Verizon workers strike" -- You have to wonder if they 'twitter-in" sick? On the other hand, who was around the offices to get the messages?
---
If Hillary Clinton makes a run in the DUMB&DUMBERat presidential primaries, wonder if she'll adopt a version of her husband's campaign slogan, "Hey, Stupid, it's your economy"?
---
L-E headline/story: "Duncan: States to get school testing waivers * Relief from some requirements of No Child Left Behind * Education Secretary Arne Duncan says he will announce a new waiver system today to give schools a break." -- Typical D&D response to solving a problem... if you can't pass a test, just eliminate it so no one will know you don't know how to solve it.
---
After looking at the pictures published in the L-E of second time DUI offenders, you would think the offenders would understand that excessive drinking does not make them prettier or handsomer as they must think.
---
From the L-E's "Blog post of the day": “Tickets are now available for The Loft’s second annual Brew-fest. The beer-tasting festival is set for 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. More than 100 craft brews will be available to taste.” -- "More than 100 craft brews will be available to taste"? Hopefully, there will be a breathalyzer testing station at every street leading out of the Broadway area in place by 4:45.
---
From the"how many ways can the government waste taxes dollars" department - L-E story: "MOBILE, Ala. — A new study being conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service aims to determine how many birds may have died during the Gulf oil spill last year. * Federal officials have dropped about 250 real carcasses and 65 dummy carcasses in the water since July 16 along the Gulf between Louisiana and Panama City, Fla. * The project is costing about $1 million. " -- 315 dead/fake 'carcasses'... hmmm that's about $3200.00 each. That would buy a lot of KFC dead bird carcasses for a lot of hungry people.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — Georgia’s not-for-profit hospitals receive millions of dollars each year in tax breaks, but a newspaper investigation found that not all of those institutions provide as much charity as their for-profit counterparts. " -- This is a "news story"? Show me where any hospital in Columbus has been charitable to anything but itself. Even indigent care is charged to the taxpayers in some form or another (either through government programs or padding the bills of responsible users.
---
L-E headline/story: "Scott wins first World Golf title * He celebrated with a caddie who has won quite a few more. * Steve Williams, fired last month by Tiger Woods after a 12-year partnership," -- Heh, heh, heh... like previously suggested, 'poor Tiger' needs to look at himself when pointing the finger of blame at his situation. Speaking of pointing the finger of blame, potUS O'Blather, it's good advice for you, too.

Online headline: "US Credit Downgrade Darkens Economic Outlook" -- Are you noticing the pattern? Looks like every 'urgent' legislation that potUS O'Blather pushes has the same result once the public gets to read the bill.
---
From the 'wish I'd thought of it first' department - L-E "soundoff": "I say fund the military 100 percent. It’s the only chance the country will have to survive when China comes to collect on its debt." -- OK, which one of you sent this in?
---
In a nutshell, our Constitution is just that, ours. The privilege, the rights guaranteed to be protected by it, and even the right to challenge it should be reserved only to its citizens and those going through proper channels to attain such; no ifs, ands, or buts.
---
The only guarantee for the future financial security of the nation (and any family's personal security) is for a U.S. Constitutional amendment to insure not only a balanced budget, but zero-based budgeting for all U.S. government departments.
---
This nation had better pray that potUS O'Blather does not get re-elected. With the spending issues that will kick in from his HELL-thScare bill alone in the term after the 2012 election, he won't have support a single new spending bill, and we will still soar into more new debt that the current 'debt deal' has no way of reining in without a new president and Congress dedicated to stopping existing legislation.

Chris Rock....he once went public wishing then sitting President Bush (43) and his entire family were dead. Why would potUS O'Blather, or any U.S. President for that matter, invite Chris Rock to celebrate a birthday at the White House?
---
For 100 years, the US has been rated AAA by the Standard & Poors Company....until yesterday. For the first time in 100 years, the credit rating of the US has been downgraded by THE credit rating gurus. What do you bet that the DUMB&DUMBERat 'spin' on this will be 'it's racism'?
---
On the other hand, in 1935/36, my grandfather had his portfolio assessed by the Senior VP ogf Standard Company (now Standard & Poors). All the stocks were commented on and 1 suggestion (that my grandfather ignore) was to get rid of a certain soft drink stock because he 'didn't see any future in it". Wonder what the S&P thinks about Coca Cola today?
---
Republicans have got to make a stand against every 'urgent that we pass it now' campaign of potUS O'Blather and Harry Reid. It was 'urgent' the 'stim-YOU-LIE' bill was passed or unemployment couldn't be held under 8%. It was so 'urgent' that HELL-thScare pass that there was no time to read it first. It was even more 'urgent' that the debt ceiling be raised so the credit standing of the US wouldn't be compromised. While we can, it's getting obvious the Congressional Republicans cannot see the pattern that is erupting.
---
Meeks, Massa, Weiner, Rangel....what is it with New York D&D Congresspersons? Is there an aversion to ethics in New York? Why do the New York voters seat and reseat such? It's not fair to the rest of the country.
---
Hmmm, the Huffington Post acquired and published a "leaked'' copy of Texas Gov Rick Perry's college transcript, and parsed every negative it could about it. What the HuffPost didn't acknowledge was that he graduated, and did so in 4 years. Now, would the HuffPost publish potUS O'Blather's transcripts if it acquired a "leaked" copy of it?
---
L-E story: "At a hearing this morning, prosecutors asked (Judge) Peters to set a bond that (Michael) Miller could not afford, suggesting $500,000 would be an appropriate amount given the gravity of the charge (murder). Assistant District Attorney Michael E. Craig said Miller has been arrested at least 32 times on a wide array of charges in Georgia and Ohio. * Superior Court Judge Bobby Peters this morning set a $250,000 bond for an Ohio man charged with murder in a 1999 cold case. * Michael Y. Miller, 41, has been jailed since February on charges he fatally shot 24-year-old Shawnita N. Campbell in Columbus. He will be required to wear an ankle bracelet if he makes bond, Peters said." -- hmmm, like an ankle bracelet can't be "disengaged", BUT if such ankle bracelet had an explosive charge set to go off if tampered with, or a could be set off by GPS if he left the county... I could live with that.
---
Another liberal (and probably government worker) "soundoff": "Do you head for the rack that says “7% off”? Probably not. The real bargains are on the 65% off rack. The sales tax holiday is a 7% sale that costs the state millions. " -- Once again, the liberal mentality that the state 'owns' your money.
---
L-E headline: "GEORGIA GOVERNMENT *Ethics chairman says he won’t resign * Complaint says he’s serving illegally" -- We have a Solomonic situation here...how can an Ethics Committee operate if the Chairman is accused of an ethics violation, but on the other hand, if someone wants to get rid of the Chairman of the Ethics Committee, maybe we ought to hold on to him.
---
No matter how the current administration manipulates inflation figures here in the USA, since we now outsource most of our manufacturing capabilities to foreign countries, and their inflation figures are more realistic (IOWs, 'higher'), isn't the international inflation figure the one we need to assess ours by?

---
Beavis and Butthead..you decide:

---
Online headline: "President Obama Asks Tim Geithner To Remain U.S. Treasury Secretary" -- Reminds me of the Clinton-Reno situation. Clinton 'asked' Reno to stay on after Waco because he could afford to have her running around the country on a speaking tour as a 'loose cannon'. I'm sure potUS O'Blather feels the same about Geithner.Have you noticed...the FAA is running on a skeleton crew, and taxpayers are saving $100's of millions of tax dollars, and no planes have crashed, and planes are pretty much on schedule as before. Hmmm, is shutting down the FAA revealing basic government 'over management' of taxpayers' concerns?
---
Online headline/story: "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Announces Deal To End FAA Shutdown * The temporary resolution means about 4,000 FAA workers and 70,000 construction workers can get back to work after going nearly two weeks without pay. The federal government has lost about $360 million in tax revenue on airline tickets because of the standoff." -- "The federal government has lost about $360 million in tax revenue on airline tickets"...proof positive that the federal government 'feels' your money is its money! No money has been "lost"; it just stayed in the pockets of those who earned it.
---
L-E story: "With the U.S. stock market plunging to extreme levels Thursday, companies headquartered in Columbus swirled down with it." -- Looks like potUS O'Blather got his birthday wish. He huffed and puffed and blew down the candles and hope of recovery.
---
The reason we can't get out of this 'economic hole' is because DUMB&DUMBERats feel digging it deeper is a 'shovel ready' job they's created.
---
From L-E's story on Expedia: "Wally Walker, a Columbus attorney who represents the city. “We believe the filing is frivolous.” -- Walker does not represent the City; he represent the Mayor's old law firm.
---
Pertinent comment from a fellow BCer: "The business manager of my company always included employee bonding in our insurance package. * The premium is so cheap it would mismanagement not to have had it. * Certainly the top management of Columbus bonded all employees who have access to property or cash. Since the criminal theft from parks and rec is a matter of legal record why has
no claim for that amount of money been made? * And if the employees of a two hundred million dollar income city are not bonded, certainly there must be an errors and omissions bond on senior management. * And if there are no bonds, why not? * And this is a good question to ask the school board. Bet they have it covered. -- My addendum: The City's response will be that it considers itself "self-insured" like it does for liability et al, but is it? It only works when payout is less than what would be any premiums.
---
I'm going to have to rethink my current name for the President. While 'potUS O'Blather' does cover his 'Irish drivel', is it as accurate as 'potUS Oblabber" ?
---
Oh...after 2 and 1/2 years, potUS O'Blather is going on a "listening tour"... DOH? Wasn't he 'listening' to the election results last November? Why hasn't he 'listened' since then? Why isn't he "listening' right now? Oh, and guess what, "we" will get to pay for this while he conducts fund raiser dinners in the tour cities.
---
Typical lib "soundoff" : "Neither the President nor the Democrats nor the Republicans got what they preferred, which is a good deal. It’s called “compromise.” -- You know, it takes all kinds to make this world work, but it would be a lot less work for all if this guy didn't exist. If he doesn't get exactly what he feels is best for him, then he's happy if the rest of the world doesn't get what is actually best for everyone. Compromise is simply not addressing the problem with a real solution.
---
L-E's "Quotable": “Education is all a matter of building bridges.” - Ralph Ellison American author (1914-1994) -- Not quite...do you really want to cross any bridges built by recently "educated" people?
---
From L-E 'letter": "Many citizens believe that the color of the top management involved in these cases and the old boy network keep them off the front page of the news. African Americans need to stop repeated, unnecessary abuse of them by voting more selectively. Reginald L. Pugh President and CEO Urban League of Greater Columbus" -- "voting more selectively"? How much more 'selectively' can the black bloc vote be? I don't believe the black bloc vote cast its lot for Zeph Baker in the runoff, so the black bloc vote has no room to complain about who is the mayor.
---
So long, Jerry Lewis...you have made a difference. God bless you!
---
L-E story: "NEW YORK — Bank of New York Mellon Corp. said Thursday that it will charge its customers a fee to hold cash deposits over $50 million. * The bank said it has seen such a large increase in deposits over the last month that it will charge a 0.13 percent fee to clients with “extraordinary high deposit levels.” Bank of New York Mellon, which has $23.6 trillion in client assets under its custody, said customers have moved money to cash as a safe haven . " -- Hmmm, wonder which DUMB&DUMBERats came up with this new banking regulation? With interest being paid for cash deposits being negligible, charging to hold it is insane! I'll bet Dodd and Frank were involved.
---
Gov Mike Huckabee has coined a new phrase for the most liberal of TV networks... BSNBC.
---
Have you noticed how few tropical storms we've had this year in the Atlantic?Gulf regions? Must be 'global warming'.
---
When I upgraded (questionable, at best) to Windows 7, most of my old MS software doesn't work with it. Just bought a newr MS Office version which consists on a single DVD disk for an astronomical price (especially since I had already paid for the version that doesn't work with Windows 7), but I noticed something really disturbing about the new software. It was marked "Made in Puerto Rico". Give us a break Mr Gates..how much can you be saving by outsourcing the copying of software to a single DVD disk to Puerto Rico instead of doing so here in the USA?

From a fellow BCer, and not likely to run in the L-E:

---
Online story: "In 2004, Isaac Turnbaugh of Vermont was acquitted of killing his coworker. Police say he recently contacted them, however, and confessed to the murder. But there's not much they can do. * Some might call it an outrage, but he's protected under a basic Fifth Amendment concept better known as "double jeopardy," and prosecutors say their hands are tied." -- Bet this will become a movie. Hmmm, a good title would probably be, "The Casey Anthony Story...the Prequel". I do hope this story is stamped into the wall of every member of Turnbaugh's jury panel, and that the DA who prosecuted it is up for re-election this year.
---
Online headlines/story: "GOP Congressman Uses Racial Slur To Describe Obama * Doug Lamborn, Colorado Congressman, Refers To Obama Dealings As Being Stuck To A ‘Tar Baby' " -- One source says, "The term "tar baby," with origins that stretch back to an 1881 Uncle Remus story from writer Joel Chandler Harris, can be used to imply that a situation is difficult to solve". North Carolina, the Tarheel State, got its 'name' from a British officer who stated the stalwart defense of the NC militia indicated that the militia men must have had 'tar on their heels' because they stuck so firmly in their positions, but in more recent history, the term has developed more derogatory connotations related to describing African Americans. Only in the minds of the media and mentally crippled does such a use of a historical term mean it's a racial slur.
---
Online quote source: ""Pain prompts us to change behavior that is destructive to ourselves or to others. Pain can be a highly effective instructor." - Tony Dungy (successful head coach) -- Another bit of wisdom that you won't see hanging behind a school superintendent's nor a psychiatrist's desk nor in a jury room where a heinous felon's future is being discussed. Things need to change.
---
Donald Trump was on the radio yesterday, and something that made my law drop. I'd known about the $2 BILLION potUS O'Blather had given to Brazil for oil drilling (to benefit George Soros' interests), but yesterday I learned that if an American citizen buys a personal/corporate jet from a Brazilian maker, he gets more than a million dollar$ in US income tax credits. This is wrong.
---
Jay Leno nailed it Tuesday night. He said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D&D, NY came out after the debt ceiling deal avowing it's now time to move job creation to 'the front burner'. Leno then parsed it well when he said, "The only time these guys are concerned about our jobs is when they are about to lose theirs." -- Well said.
---
Let's face it, if the Republicans agree to a bill that potUS O'Blather is willing to sign, then the bill is a waste of our time and money.
---
potUS O'Blather says 'jobs' are the first thing he thinks about in the morning and the last thing he thinks about before going to bed at noght. Maybe he needs to think about them during working hours.
---
Sen Chuck Schumer, D&D, NY also said, 'creating jobs is the Democrats strong point'. First I snickered, but when you think about the D&D performances in every other aspect, you have to agree with him ...to a point.
---
Online headline: "Alabama County Could File For Biggest U.S. Municipality Bankruptcy Ever" -- Finally! Finally a category that Alabama is not 48th, 49th, or 50th in. Of course it will be a short lived opportunity to proclaim, "We're # 1" as California has many teetering on it as we speak.
---
L-E headline: "Most Phenix City schools make adequate yearly progress" -- Hmmmm, wonder how much Columbus students are charged to go to Phenix City schools?
---
L-E story: "(Dewayne) Chapman, charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of drug related objects and two weapons violations, pleaded guilty to all charges. Senior Judge Michael Cielinski, however, doesn’t have the authority to dispose of those cases." -- Why is it, that in cases where the accused plead guilty in Recorders Court, that Recorders Court can't accept that plea as final, and just assign it to the DA's office for sentence recommendation to be sent to a Superior Court judge? Seems it would be a lot more efficient use of time and resources for the courts and the taxpayers.
---
It was 102 in Columbus yesterday. Don't you know it would have been nice to visit one of the public pools.. ooops, they closed this past Sunday except for weekends.
---
From the "how come" department - L-E headline: "Obama back in Chicago to resume fundraising " -- How come potUS O'Blather just doesn't ask his fellow DUMB&DUMBERats to donate that money to the government (instead of his next campaign) ? Seems to me, that money applied to reducing taxes would go a lot further towards him getting re-elected than trying to explain to the voters how all this has happened on his watch.. ???? What am I thinking and saying..never mind potUS O'Blather, keep up the 'good work'.
---
From the L-E's "Looking back": Fifty years ago today, August 4, 1961 Negroes Arrested For Bus Incidents * Eight Negroes, six of them college students, were arrested in Columbus today on charges of refusing to move to the rear of a bus in three separate cases." -- A sober reminder of several things...how thing 'were', how things have changed, and why potUS O'Blather's father being called 'African' in the 'Race" area on O'Blather's supposed birth certifricate makes the document 'suspect' as to it having been filed in 1961.
---
L-E headline/story: "Defense cuts may not be as deep as anticipated * The initial $350 billion cut calls for slicing that much money over 10 years not from the Pentagon alone but from a broader group of funds labeled “defense and security.” * That includes programs such as homeland security, border enforcement, foreign aid and even veterans’ benefits as potential targets." -- One more example of why Republican's need to read any bill presented by Harry Reid BEFORE they sign on to it!
---
L-E headline/story: "GLAAD applauds ABC Family, CW for gay characters * The top score went to the Walt Disney Co.’s cable outlet ABC Family, which is targeted at viewers age 14 to 34 and features several series with gay characters, including “Pretty Little Liars” and “Greek.” CW earned the best score among any broadcaster, thanks to openly gay characters on shows such as “90210” and “Gossip Girl.” * One area of concern for GLAAD: the continuing lack of transgender characters on television. With a few exceptions — such as model Isis King on CW’s “America’s Next Top Model” — transgender people are seldom seen in programming. " -- You know, I'd be more tolerant of shows that we made to be informative, but the shows that are being 'highlighted' are shows geared at our children and are presented as 'normal' (even 'superior') rather than as, at a minimum, 'alternative' lifestyles.

L-E Business section headline: "Budweiser can gets makeover to aid sales " * "ECONOMY GOING NOWHERE" * "Unemployment rises in nearly all U.S. cities" * "Service firms expand at slowest pace in 17 months " * "Factory orders dropped 0.8 percent in June " * "Global airline profits hit by sky-high fuel costs " -- Makes potUS O'Blather's claim of thinking about jobs, and Chuck Schumer's vow to move 'jobs' to the front burner sorta shallow and secondary agenda.

Online headline: "Politician Resigns After Nude Photos Appear Online" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Weener had won the special election or something. False alarm, just another normal DUMB&DUMBERat.

Franklin Township in Indiana recently sold all its school buses to an private company because of financial reasons, and the private company is going to charge families about $50.00 a month to transport the children to school. Great concept! Parental complaints are mostly based on inconvenience of parents working or children needing to be at different schools at the same time, but parents find ways to pay for day care, so why shouldn't they take responsibility to pay for transportation? The children will benefit if parents actually take their children to school because the kids won't have to endure the excessive amounts of time necessary for a bus to pick up all the children in the AM and to drop them off in the PM, and the tax dollars wasted on busing can now go into the classrooms. Take note, MCSD.

Some economists are now bringing up the possibility of a "double dip". "Double dip"? We've been exposed to a 'quadruple dip' economy for the last 2.5 years; the 'dips' names are O'Blather. Biden-Biden, Pelosi and Reid.

potUS O'Blather says the FAA has lost $250,000,000.00 in airline tax revenues because the FAA is not operating due to him not getting the FFA a budget to operate. Planes are still flying and people are saving Billion dollars a month. Sounds reasonable to just close the FAA altogether.
---
How can anyone trust potUS O'Blather, Reid and Pelosi? They said if a bill wasn't urgently passed for the TARP, that they couldn't guarantee unemployment to stay under 8%, and that if they didn't raise the debt ceiling, the stock market would drop. DOH!

Online headline/story: "Jaycee Dugard Case: Report Says Criminal Justice System Failed Kidnap Victim, Allowed Phillip Garrido To Roam Free * The report outlines dozens of failures by counselors and psychiatrists, including in 1994 when it was learned that Garrido wore a prosthetic penis during drug screenings. "Garrido would wear a fake penis and use warm Mountain Dew to fool the urine tests conducted with this counselor," the report states. * Yet his parole was not revoked" -- Think about how many tax dollars go for psychiatric evaluation reports and rehab. Execute the such criminals, and we can save billions in wasted tax dollars. Oh, can't you wait for the next Super Bowl commercial for "Do the Dew"?

Online headline/story: "Illinois DREAM Act Signed By Governor Quinn * On Monday, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a law that makes it easier for the children of immigrants--legal or illegal--to pay for college. * Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also attended the Monday signing. * “Immigrants are a driving force in our city’s cultural and economic life, and opening the way for all Chicago students to earn an excellent higher education will make our city even stronger," Emanuel said in a statement. “I am proud that families and students across Illinois will now have a better shot at the American Dream — which starts with a great education.” -- Wrong! The "American Dream" starts with going through the process of coming to America legally. The Governor says that no tax dollars are being used for this initiative, but like all politicians, he forgot an important word, "YET!".

All along, I thought Senator Chambliss would be a supporter of the debt deal bill signed yesterday; I'm prouder of him than at anytime he's be our Senator. Can't say the same for Isakson... any one know of a challenger in the Republican primary?

L-E story: "Key leaders from Columbus, Fort Benning and surrounding areas are asked to volunteer and meet a bus to encourage students to commit to their own success by being present in school and engaged in the learning process. “Data has proven that it takes a village to raise a child,” said Melvin Blackwell, chief of student services. " "Data has PROVEN..."? Please, Mr Blackwell, show me such 'data' that 'PROVES' such a finding... preferably with in my life span. PS, Hillary Clinton's book is not 'proof'.

L-E headline: "Autopsy can’t find cause of N.H. girl’s death " -- Hope NJ doesn't hire the Casey Anthony jury! It would probably deny the girl is dead because the coroner can't determine how she died.
---
L-E headline: "Clinton meets Syrian activists" -- Whatta waste of time and money. Sending a woman to negotiate in a Muslim country is kin to insanity. THe only plausible reason for Syrian activists to meet with Hillary would be in hopes her purse in filled with US dollars, and they'll get an opportunity to mug her.

L-E headline: "Wrangler to rebuild Hackleburg (Alabama) plant after tornado" -- Wow! Something to wear that's still made in America. Wrangler will be on my shopping list!
