Online story: "On Tuesday, the Obama campaign joined Instagram -- the free, insanely popular photo-sharing application that allows users to take photos, add special effects and share the images on social networking platforms with the click of a button. * Instagram's special-effect "filters," which let users transform a plain photo into a faux-vintage image" -- Ahaaaa! potUS O'Blather's ad team thinks (oooops, I mean 'feels") it can convert his image to a faux-conservative.
---
Online headline: "Sandringham Estate: Police Say Body At Queen's Estate There For Months" -- Brings a new meaning to the Brits keeping a stiff upper lip.
----
Why would anybody, DIM&DUMBERats included, want to get foreign policy, economic or re-election advice from Jimmy Carter?
---
I don't know who is more embarrassing to be endorsed by...the Moonlight BunnyRanch girls or John McCain. Well, at least the BunnyRanch girls are not on the government payroll.
---
While it's legal for a sitting president to make appointments when the Senate is out of session, it isn't when the Senate is still in session. Why is potUS O'Blather claiming some now when it's illegal?
---
Why is the DOT trying to find a way not only to waste money, but waste it on something other than building and maintaining our highways? This makes the Transportation-SPLOST even less attractive than before.
---
L-E's " Thought for Today": “It is easy to be tolerant of the principles of other people if you have none of your own.” — Herbert Samuel, English political leader (1870-1963). -- This really hits the DIM&DUMBERats, Moderates, and Mainstream Media on the head!
---
Don't you love it when liberals cast stones at conservatives saying conservatives are money-driven zealots? Truth is, conservatives work hard to accumulate an independent life style, while liberals clamor for other people's money; now, who is the greedy bunch?
---
From the 'state of denial' department - L-E headline: "Pelosi says no regrets" -- What she meant was that she has 'no morals'.
---
The LSU-Bama game will make New Orleans look like New Year's Eve of the past. Why did NO even bother with this year's Sugar Bowl?

The Iowa Caucuses...my analysis: After millions of dollars spent in the Iowan media economy, less than 25% of 122,000 people who chose to participate voted for any one candidate. Candidates that could draw the attention of 1-in-10 should bow out while they can do it gracefully.
---
When potUS O'Blather returned from sunny Hawaii to a cold front in Washington, he should get the message from above.
---
How can a sitting president just announce his determination not to work with any chamber of Congress, even though neither chamber endorses his leadership?
---
Hyatt has " memories of a Democrat that was willing to share a chew." -- Hmmm, that's about all the DIM&DUMBERats are willing to share (unless you consider D&D's taxing your paycheck so they can 'share' it with their voter friends).
---
L-E story: "Though Muscogee residents pay no state sales tax on groceries, they still pay local sales taxes to the city and the school district.McKoon said the schools get 1 percent for a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, a temporary tax to fund designated projects. The city gets 2 percent in continuing Local Option Sales Taxes, he said." -- Hmmm..So that is what the 3% tax on our groceries is.... In effect, those of us who pack our children's lunches for school rather than have them eat less healthy offerings are taxed directly, then indirectly taxed again to pay for lunches the MCSD gives away to those on reduced/free school lunches
---
L-E headline/story: "Commission on Passenger Rail to hear many speakers at today's first meeting * The commission is charged with studying whether Columbus would be wise to pursue being part of the state’s proposed passenger rail system." -- "wise to pursue"? Just the mention of "wise" and an anachronistic idea is oxymoronic. Why not go out and recruit a buggy whip or slide rule manufacturer?
---
From a fellow BCer:

This is old, but shows the trend. ND now at $15+Trillion and growing.
---
Alan Colmes should be canned and banned from any/all TV! Set-up: Rick Santorum's wife gave birth to a boy who died just two hours after his premature birth. The Santorums brought the body of the infant home so that their other children could see him, hold him and recognize the precious worth of every life. * Alan Colmes commented on Fox News' "Happening Now": "Once they (the voting public) get a load of the crazy things he's said and done, liking taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple of hours so his other children would know that the child was real." * When Rich Lowry confronted him on air, Colmes arrogantly leaned back in his chair with his arms crossed and a smug look on his face." -- Liberals lead such miserable lives, and the only joy they must get is in making others miserable, too.
---
From a fellow BCer - Rumor has it thatUGA Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo took the early lead in the Iowa Republican caucuses as a write-in candidate ...he was the most conservative.
---
A "Morning Rush" reporter on AOL/Huff Post reported that a silver back gorilla named Gino has 3 wives. Since when do gorillas get married. The correct word is 'mates', but since when are liberals interested in any 'correctness' other than political?
---
Mayor Obamalinson must be embarrassed this morning as the Railway Commission meets. GA Trend announced its 100 top power brokers in GA in this months magazine, and she didn't even get a honorable mention.
---
L-E story: "KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban announced Tuesday that they will open an office in the Persian Gulf nation of Qatar to hold talks with the United States, " -- The hide & seek Taliban is opening an office? Next, we will have them opening an Embassy in Washington, and giving them foreign aid.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — A Fulton County judge is allowing thousands of parents who could face jail time for failing to pay child support to join a legal challenge that says they must be appointed attorneys if they cannot afford to hire a lawyer. " -- Great....NOT! Now 'we' will have to pay "support' for deadbeats who have pretty much put their families on Public Support already. Is there no shame in the judicial system?

Online headline: "Protesters Occupy Rose Parade" -- At least the smell was covered.
---
I felt a certain anti-SEC bias when Mississippi State was playing Wake Forest, but it was blatantly evident when Michigan State scored its first touchdown against UGA. It seemed someone else in the press box must have tackled the commentator and gagged him before he could break out in the Spartan fight song.
---
When UGA scored its last touchdown, it should have let Boykin run for the two-point play. If he had done so, he would have scored 4 different ways in one game: tackle for a safety, punt return, pass reception, and then by a running play. Oh, well....
---
Online "headlie": "Ohio Earthquakes Caused By Drilling Wastewater Well, Experts Say " -- Experts say? Since when are DIM&DUMBERats experts on anything other than spending other people's money and propaganda? Man directly affeting earth movement is as likely as Superman flying around Earth in reverse to turn back time... only in the comics.
---
However, if man can cause earthquakes, how about starting a drilling program on the San Andreas Fault in California..
---
L-E story:"Accused in the September 2010 fatal shooting of David Heath Jackson, Ricardo Strozier could be more than a year away from his capital murder trial. * District Attorney Julia Slater is seeking the death penalty for Strozier -- the first time she’s sought capital punishment since she took office in 2009. * One attorney said it could be 2014 until Strozier’s case reaches trial." -- Doesn't the public deserve a 'fair and speedy trial', too?
---
A NEWS3 headline: "Columbus woman finds dead rat in apartment" -- Hope the Thayers fix this faster than they have replace the dead trees on Veterans Parkway.
---
Cee Lo Green...kudos, big guy, and hey, Roseanne Barr...take that!
---
Maybe Mark Richt will learn a lesson... you can't win by trying not to lose.

Do you realize that 9 of the 12 2011 SEC teams are 'bowling' this season? Add Texas A&M and Missouri, and the SEC has 11 of its next season's 14 members playing in a bowl game.
---
Online headline/story: "Mitt Romney: Obama Campaign Promises As Good As Kardashian Wedding Vows * he said. "I think the gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I’ve seen, well, since the Kardashian wedding and the promise of til death do we part." -- What was Romney thinking? There's no comparison between a potUS O'Blather promise and a Kardashian one... you could have HOPE in the one Kardashian made.
---
Happy New Year...Those dead trees in the Veterans Parkway renovation are still there and still dead. Isn't it cold enough yet?
---
L-E headline: "Nearly half of likely Iowa voters undecided " -- But only about who they want to replace potUS O'Blather with...
---
The report concerning the current and future costs to taxpayers for funding our state government's "unused time off" program just accentuates the abuse of government benefits. In effect, employees get paid twice for vacations they should have taken, and for days they came in sick anyway. In addition, it raises the final year's pay which wrongly boosts the salary equation their pensions are based on. It's time to eliminate all such programs. Private industry doesn't do this (well, possibly with some union situations excepted).
---
With the BCS Championship game being played in the New Orleans between LSU & Bama, maybe the Jan 3 "sugar bowl" game between two foreign teams should be renamed the "High Fructose Corn Syrup Bowl".

Happy New Year, and welcome back about 70 taxes that the cutback has expired. Wish I could tell you all of them, but the bill they were in hasn't been read yet.
---
Having grown up with January 1 being "the" bowl day, don't you find it strange, too, that there's not 1 bowl game being played today?
---
We did stay up and welcome in the New Year but I'm not sure why. We saw Sydney, Australia beat us to it 16 hours before that.
---
Your New Year's challenge is to determine why "they don't call us Budget for nothing".
---
Governor Perry ads say that Congress needs to spend less time in Washington. Wouldn't it be even better if Congress just spends less?
---
New Yorkers had their ball drop at midnight; as usual, Columbus just dropped the ball...again.
---
Online story: "WASHINGTON -- Indefinite military detention of Americans became the law of the land Saturday, as President Barack Obama signed a defense bill that codified that authority, even as he said he would not use it." -- BS! potUS O'Blather knows exactly how he will use it...in negative campaign ads in high immigration states!
---
One thing will be quite evident this coming year. potUS O'Blather and Harry Reid will try to balance the budget by downsizing the military through budget cuts that downsize our readiness. Clinton did so, and it took Bush43 18 months to rebuild our military to be able to respond to the 911 travesty.
---
L-E story: "A Columbus man has been charged in a series of vandalisms that included the Columbus Museum and other public buildings. * Tracy Douglas, 24, of 921 Harbison Drive was arrested Friday and charged with six counts each of criminal trespassing and one count of interference with government property . He was being held in the Muscogee Jail Saturday on bonds totaling $4,000. * The interference with government property charge stemmed from $200 in damage at Edgewood Elementary School, 3835 Forrest Road. " -- Excuse me, but isn't the Museum considered 'government property", too? I know the patrons feel it is private, but the Columbus Museum is not only under the MCSD umbrella, but it's because the Museum is under the MCSD umbrella that the MCSD gets an extra 5 mils of taxing authority from the state that other counties do not get.
---
L-E "headlie": "Hope reigns as U.S. prepares for 2012 " -- Should read, "Hope reined in as U.S. prepares for 2012"
---
L-E's "Thought for Today": “A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.” — Author unknown. -- Sorta like any DIM&DUMBERat's campaign promises to Occupy Wall Streeters.
---
L-E Online's "Question of the day": Will you make New Year's Resolutions? Yes or No -- Hmmmm, isn't resolving not to make resolutions a resolution in itself?
---
This week's Council Agenda is for proclamations & resolutions. In the midst of the Civic Center ticket scandal, how can people serving on the Civic Center Advisory Board be given appreciation commendations for 'meritorious service'? Just wondering....
---
On the basis of the above's agenda, why isn't Dale Hester being 'appreciated' on his retirement like other employees who 'retired' ?
---
L-E headline: "On today’s calendar * New Year’s Hike" -- Oooops, my bad. Thought this was about the 70 or so taxes set to rise today.

Online headline: "Ron Paul Says He Might Not Support His GOP Rivals" -- And? I haven't seen him even support himself in a positive manner.
---
From L-E column: "No doubt, poverty is a huge problem in Columbus. Eliminate poverty and you’d have brighter students, happier teachers, a stronger educational system, a better-equipped workforce and lower crime rates." -- Is the glass half full or half empty? Poverty itself doesn't weaken the education system; education is supposed to be the route out of poverty, and it's up to the parents and teachers to convey this. Unfortunately, government is/has tried to take over being the parent of poverty students, and is failing miserably.
---
The Insight Bowl gave us a rare event last night (2 events if you count the camera collapse). The Iowa QB threw an interception, then was called for unnecessary roughness with a late hit during the tackle.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The Obama administration hopes to restore momentum in the spring to U.S. talks with the Taliban insurgency that had reached a critical point before falling apart this month because of objections from Afghan President Hamid Karzai, U.S. and Afghan officials said. " -- This sounds exactly like the same story concerning talks between potUS O'Blather and the ultra-left-wing DIM&DUMBERat factions...
---
L-E story: "TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Scientists want to know if an underwater cannon can protect valuable Great Lakes fish from a greedy predator. * The round goby is an exotic species that hangs around spawning beds, gobbling up eggs of native varieties such as lake trout and whitefish that are important to the fishing industry. " -- This already sounds like another government snafu, but why this, now? Why didn't the government try to run off the little fishes that shut down the California water supply to farmers' irrigation equipment?
---
What good is an incarceration system/sentence if it isn't adhered to? There's a man pictured in the DUI section today that was arrested for his 2nd DUI in May, and sentenced to 180 days in jail. Further down is the same man arrested for his 3rd DUI less that two months later. If he'd served his sentence, he wouldn't have been out and getting arrested a 3rd time (only God knows how many times he was driving without getting arrested). Just saddens and reminds me of the death of a neighbor's son about 18 months ago. The driver of the car he died in was sentenced to 52 weekends in jail only a few months before the accident. What would be the situation today had the young man served all those weekends as sentenced vs being out early and back behind a wheel?

Latest from www.barackobama.com:
I just got the seating arrangement for my dinner (plus guest) with potUS and Flotus. Wonder what he told the other folks? Of course, he didn't say we had actually been invited, but he does want a donation of $3.00 or more. Might have done so if $2.00 was all it takes. NOT!

Please note that the 'contest' is for 4 winners plus their guests. That would mean a table seating 10 would be necessary. Guess some couple would be left at a table by themselves in 'left' field.
---
Online story: "PHOENIX -- Animal lovers threatened to pull donations to an animal rescue group and the public flooded the agency with scathing comments and calls after a man's cat was euthanized when he couldn't afford its medical care, * The group has hired a publicist, * injury that he described as non-life-threatening. The agency said it would cost $400 to treat Scruffy, money he didn't have." -- This is a "humane" group? The man could afford $400.00 for a 'band aid',and the Arizona Humane Society coughed up way more than that to hire a publicist for damage control...sick sick sick.
---
I wish that when the L-E reports a story about something that is funded by "federal funds", the L-E would say it was funded by Congressional Special Interest with our tax dollars instead.
---
What a hypocrite! Eric Holder, our Attorney General, that is. Holder is challenging South Carolina's new law requiring a photo ID to vote. Wish some national media reporter would ask Holder this simple question: Mr Holder, since you've been Attorney General, how many people have been to your office without either a work related phot ID badge, or either a 'visitor' badge for which a photo ID was required to obtain?
---
It's strange, no, more than strange, that there hasn't been an "Iraqi War ending/Welcome Home Troops" parade in Washington or NYC (or anywhere I know of). I think one huge parade needs to be staged...how about along our US-Mexico border..
---
Reports are that a meal hosted by the O'Blather's in a neighborhood restaurant near potUS O'Blather's Hawaiian homestead had 3 different types of butter on the table. Will butter be added to Michelle O'Blather's balanced diet plate, or does this mean Paula Dean is about to be named head of the school lunch program?
---
From the 'suspicions confirmed' department - L-E story: "The president’s great-grandfather’s name was Obama. Obama is derived from the word “bam”, meaning crooked or indirect, she (Sally Jacobs) said in her book." --Talk about being born a politician!
---
L-E headline: "Trash collection up 8.5 percent over holidays " -- Oooops, my bad. Thought the Crime Committee had a better than expected month.
