How can this be racially motivated! There were no white students involved, and how many times have we heard Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton preach to us that only white people are racists!

potUS O'Blather is protesting too much about the rise in gas prices being like a tax taken right out of our pockets. If he's concerned, it's only because we're putting his tax dollars directly in our gas tanks rather than putting them into potUS O'Blather's hands first so he can redistribute them as he sees fit. If potUS O'Blather were really concerned about taxpayers, he would reduce the 18.4 cents per gallon (24.4 for diesel) gasoline tax and have states do something about their taxes, too.

C.A. "Brother Love" Hardmon is patting himself on the back for pointing out problems at the Muscogee County Prison long before recent actions were taken. "Brother Love" has a history of crying out 'the sky is falling' and 'wolf', so why does he think anyone gives credit for his opinion?

From the 'only in California' department: "SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The nonpartisan League of Women Voters and two prisoners’ rights groups sued California elections officials on Wednesday, claiming that tens of thousands of criminals being shifted to county jails and community supervision should be eligible to vote. * The state’s new realignment law that took effect in October is sending lower-level offenders to county jails instead of to state prisons, where they are barred from voting. * It also ends parole for many ex-convicts, substituting a similar program called “post-release community supervision” instead." -- "post-release community supervision"? What's next, will prison sentences be reworded to become 'time outs' or 'life temporarily put on hold'?

Online story: "Pink slime -- that ammonia-treated meat in a bright Pepto-bismol shade -- may have been rejected by fast food joints like McDonald's, Taco Bell and Burger King, but is being brought in by the tons for the nation's school lunch program. * The U.S. Department of Agriculture is purchasing 7 million pounds of the "slime" for school lunches, The Daily reports. Officially termed "Lean Beef Trimmings," the product is a ground-up combination of beef scraps, cow connective tissues and other beef trimmings that are treated with ammonium hydroxide to kill pathogens like salmonella and E. coli. It's then blended into traditional meat products like ground beef and hamburger patties." -- In the interest of truth in advertising, it should be relabeled "Pelosi Pulp"... the schools won't tell you what's in it until after you "pass" it.

L-E story: "An 18-year-old high school student with three children pleaded guilty Monday to burglary in Muscogee County Superior Court." -- A fitting sentence would for him to be neutered by dissecting him in a Sex Ed class.

Richard Hyatt is concerned about how a kid's show is affecting his young daughter. Hey, Richard... just wait until she starts watching the teenager targeted 'reality shows'. You think Max and Ruby are showing her how to resolve their problems without parents is bad, but when shows like "One Tree Hill, Make it or Break it, Secret Life of the American Teenager, and others do show a parent, the parent is not only dysfunctional at every thing, the parent might be involved with one of the teenagers.

Further loophole situation involving the tax break of condos at the Eagle&Phenix complex: One other observation about this tax inequality situation is that none of the condos have a homestead exemption shown in the tax digest information. This makes it possible for someone to maintain two homes in Muscogee County benefiting from tax laws not everyone else has privy to. Someone living in the rural areas of the county can keep their home and buy a condo at the E&P without giving up the homestead exemption in the first mentioned abode. Even worse would be someone buying a condo, then renting it out without having to pay commercial tax rates.

Spring Harbor is a pimple compared to the wart going on at the Eagle & Phenix condos at 1201 Front Avenue. Units valued at $1.3 million dollars pay less than $400.00 in city/MCSD property taxes, and owning one doesn't use up your use of a homestead exemption on a second house in Muscogee County. The law applied to historic redevelpments is truly an elitist loophole.

Took this picture of a historic marker on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee near the 13th Street Bridge:
This is the spot that millions of dollars is being spent on restoring the river to make it safe for sporting kayakers to entertain themselves, yet when the Chattahoochee was "free' and in its natural state, it was safe for women and children to play and fish in. Wonder if spending all those dollars before seeing what the original site actually was is more like putting the cart before the horse (though in this case, 'before the mule', as its obvious that the engineers are too stubborn to do so).

Here's another 'only in California (I HOPE!)' thing: "LOS ANGELES -- Authorities say a convicted killer who gained notoriety for having a murder scene tattooed on his chest received unemployment benefits while he was in jail. * Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said Saturday that Anthony Garcia, nicknamed "Chopper," received more than $30,000 in fraudulent unemployment while in Los Angeles County jail from 2008 to 2010." -- Other than the obvious stupidity of the situation, another thing is clear. If the criminal actually worked 40 hours a week for the two years at minimum wage ($7.25), had no withholdings held out from his checks, he would not have earned as much as he's gotten in unemployment checks, and he's not having to pay anything for his room and board. No wonder the unemployed aren't out looking for jobs to get off welfare!

The judge should have suspended his parents from raising anymore children in Rhode Island as well.

We need a law reviewed concerning tax breaks given for historic buildings being converted to condos and such. I can tolerate such breaks during the development of such, but to give the individual condo buyers the same tax break after the purchase is a loophole that is truly elitist. A good example is a Eagle&Phenix condo (bought in 2008) worth about the same as my house (bought in 2003), but then property taxes for that property for 2011 were $154.59, while my house was charged $5,227.73. L-E story: "NEW YORK — A flower company is the seventh advertiser to pull its ads from conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s radio program in reaction to his derogatory comments about a law student who testified about birth control policy." -- What hypocrites! The company stopped publicly announcing sales targets last year. It sold 1,023 Volts in February and 603 in January. * "The fact that GM is now facing an oversupply of Volts suggests that consumer demand is just not that strong for these vehicles," said Lacey Plache, chief economist for auto information site Edmunds.com." -- Considering the SuperBowl ad, and a tremendous, carpet-bomb ad campaign since for the VOLT, it looks like the VOLT will mimic the potUS O'Blather re-election campaign. Maybe a name change is in order. Since potUS is from the home of 'da Bears', perhaps he will be referred to as 'da DOLT'.

Online story: "Los Angeles - After former Miramonte Elementary teacher Mark Berndt was charged with lewd acts upon 23 children, Los Angeles Unified was hit with a torrent of complaints about other teachers and staffers across the district" -- Looks like the "Sex Ed" classes need to be replaced with "Sexual Abuse" recognition classes.
---
Online story: "A 17-year-old boy was charged with three juvenile counts of aggravated murder on Thursday for the shooting that left three people dead and two more wounded at an Ohio high school earlier this week." -- "three juvenile counts of aggravated murder"? Juvenile? How does a 17 year old with a gun get treated as a juvenile? As a comparison analogy, I guess we can charge the Ohio DA's office with 1 count of jocularity.

HuffPost headline: "Rush Limbaugh: Sandra Fluke, Woman Denied Right To Speak At Contraception Hearing, A 'Slut' -- And why not..Fluke described herself as one.

Newt Gingrich is coming to Columbus. It was rumored he wanted to rally on the steps of Baker High, but we know all about that don't we, so he'll be at the airport at 8:00.

The Council should take the 70% from the second LOST designated for "Public Safety" and limit its expenditures to hiring/paying police officers and building/running enough jails to make sure there's enough room so that criminals do not get early releases because of overcrowding.

From a Richard Hyatt column on the former Ice Rink scheduler: "Then the Auburn University hockey team called. Hockey is a club sport that had been dormant at Auburn for nearly 20 years. They wanted (Marcel) Richard to help coach the fledgling team. * Richard approached his superior, Deputy City Manager Lisa Goodwin, about the offer. He explained this would be something he did after hours. * She said no and he asked why. * When he mentioned his high school team Goodwin said he would have to give that up, too, that coaching was a conflict of interest." -- Excuse me, but is this something recently adopted, because I do not recall Tony Adams coaching the Blazers basketball team being the reason he was fired?

L-E story: "In other labor data released Thursday, there were 77,756 Georgians filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in January, up 22 percent from 63,174 filings in December. But that’s down more than 13 percent, from a year ago when 89,659 people sought assistance for the first time. The department said seasonal layoffs in retail and construction were the primary reason." -- "down more than 13 percent, from a year ago"? On the realistic sides, I would bet most of those 89,659 are still on unemployment benefits, and the 77,756 is just the number added to the unemployment benefits packages.
---
L-E story: "Tomlinson said she considered last year’s forums a success and plans to keep them going. * “They’ve done two things,” Tomlinson said. “They’ve helped citizens address their frustrations and they’ve allowed us the opportunity to get information out there. They’ve helped make citizens feel engaged.” -- "feel engaged"? Sounds like she plagiarized a line of Sandra Bullock's in "Two Week Notice". Come to think about it, Mayor Obamalinson often imitates Bullock's role as an attorney.
---
After that vicious comment by Mayor Obamalinson, why hasn't the L-E followed up on Bill Duck's retirement. I think Bill should be exonerated from the doubts Mayor Obamalinson inflicted on the circumstances, or she should explain her coldness.

From the "only in California" department - Online story: "California teacher James Hooker has left his family and his position at a Modesto high school to live with his 18-year-old former student. * The two now share an apartment, and Hooker is on paid administrative leave from the school." -- "On paid administrative leave"? I wanna tax refund on my property taxes our schools get!
---
Actual L-E headline: "Open house set on training noise " -- Oooops, my bad. Thought the L-E had located someone with a way to train crying babies or something.

Liberal's L-E "soundoff": "I find Fox News distasteful. Yet some restaurants and doctors’ offices are serving it to me. As of today, I’m eating at Fox-free restaurants and calling a new physician. I feel better already. " -- This is a double bonus for actual taxpayers. Here's one more lib who will not be able to find a good restaurant so he/she will lose weight, become less obese, and will not need to go to the Dr's office as often on Medicaid!
---
L-E story: "KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghans killed two American soldiers and wounded at least two others before dawn Thursday at a joint base in Kandahar province, in the latest deadly shooting of international forces by their Afghan partners, U.S. officials said. " -- "Afghan partners"? This partnership needs to end, our troops evacuated, and Afghanistan be turned into another al-qaida soccer field like the one in Guantanamo.

Talk about inequalities of the tax freeze all you want, but that's nothing compared to the tax situation at 1201 Front Avenue Eagle & Phenix Condos. Luxury condos on the river and not one pays $500.00 or more in property taxes. I'm sure there's some 'historic district' law/rule that covers this, but the sense of reality fails miserably!
