Here's another 'only in California (I HOPE!)' thing: "LOS ANGELES -- Authorities say a convicted killer who gained notoriety for having a murder scene tattooed on his chest received unemployment benefits while he was in jail. * Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said Saturday that Anthony Garcia, nicknamed "Chopper," received more than $30,000 in fraudulent unemployment while in Los Angeles County jail from 2008 to 2010." -- Other than the obvious stupidity of the situation, another thing is clear. If the criminal actually worked 40 hours a week for the two years at minimum wage ($7.25), had no withholdings held out from his checks, he would not have earned as much as he's gotten in unemployment checks, and he's not having to pay anything for his room and board. No wonder the unemployed aren't out looking for jobs to get off welfare!

Online headline/story: "Judge Bans Rhode Island Teen From Driving For Life * Police said (17-year-old Lyle ) Topa was driving on a suspended license at the time. He and his three teenage passengers were drinking alcohol at a party before the accident. The teenagers were lucky to escape with their lives, * The sentence was handed out after Topa pleaded no contest to speeding, violating seat belt laws, and overtaking where prohibited, while the judge agreed to drop several charges including graduated license violations of having too many passengers in the car and being out past the designated curfew, leaving the lane of travel and failure to maintain control of the vehicle," -- Nice try, Judge, but do you really think he will obey your sentence? The judge should have suspended his parents from raising anymore children in Rhode Island as well.

Online headline: "Vladimir Putin Wins Russia President Elections, Says State Television Exit Polls" -- Guess potUS O'Blather will offer Putin a campaign manager job as Exit Poll Tsar, and Designate PBS as the State Television network.

L-E headline: "More than 800 people attend the 2012 Empty Bowl Lunch hosted by the Columbus Parks and Recreation -- Put next year's event on your calendar early next year when the date is announced. It's a great way to share a meal with your family, and support Feeding the Valley.

I had read a while back we could expect this, but now it is here! What? We are getting less toilet paper for our money! The rolls look about the same, but they are a shade narrower, but what really shows it is that the diameter of the tube is considerably larger than the older ones which makes the rolls look as thick, but in reality, they are not.

L-E headline: "5 questions with attorney, bar owner Bill Mason" -- Question we'd really like to hear is, "How many customers become clients after they get into their cars to drive home?

WTVM9 headline: "Chicago police chief pledges no NYPD-style spying" -- And for good reason; Chicago considers New York techniques amateurish.

We need a law reviewed concerning tax breaks given for historic buildings being converted to condos and such. I can tolerate such breaks during the development of such, but to give the individual condo buyers the same tax break after the purchase is a loophole that is truly elitist. A good example is a Eagle&Phenix condo (bought in 2008) worth about the same as my house (bought in 2003), but then property taxes for that property for 2011 were $154.59, while my house was charged $5,227.73. The tax freeze has nothing to do with this difference, and the city and provides as much or more services to that address as mine. This is a law that needs overhauling.

L-E story: "NEW YORK — A flower company is the seventh advertiser to pull its ads from conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s radio program in reaction to his derogatory comments about a law student who testified about birth control policy." -- What hypocrites! These advertisers were on to begin with because of Limbaugh's straight forward manner of conveying the news and his opinions. I plan to boycott the boycotters! the others are: mortgage lender Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online data backup service provider Carbonite and online legal document services company LegalZoom.

Once again, the L-E has demonstrated its political bias by not identifying Judy F. Brouillette as the elected Treasurer of the Muscogee Democratswhen she writes in with heracerbic drivel.Just a couple of weeks ago, the L-E identified writer Carmenb Cavezza in length following his contribution, and everyone already knows what he is all about, so why won't the L-E do the same for Brouillette?
