Welcome home, Scott & Friends!
---
I watched a replay of a collision at home plate recently when the catcher had his leg broken. It's painful to watch a runner coming at full speed on a collision course with a catcher who is standing still at best, and probably does not have the time to even brace himself for the contact. I'd like to see a catcher keep his helmet/mask on during such a play, and lower it into any runner who does not actually slide into home plate.

L-E headline/story: "U.S. judge rules against corporate contribution ban * In a ruling issued late Thursday , U.S. District Judge James Cacheris tossed out part of an indictment against two people charged with illegally reimbursing donors to Hillary Clinton’s 2006 Senate and 2008 presidential campaigns. " -- Bet the judge wouldn't have felt this way if the donations had been made to George Bush.
---
L-E story: "Want to go for a swim? Public pools in Muscogee County are open until July 31." -- We spent how much money on building and remodeling the public pools, and none are open in August, the hottest month of all? Someone at the City has already been sitting out in the sun too long. This is another reason the MCSD needs to re-evaluate starting schools before the Tuesday after Labor Day.
---
While WTVM9 did walk on eggshells concerning details of a 4:00 AM accident Thursday morning (leaving out details such as names and whether or not there was alcohol involved) that ruptured a gas line on Standing Boy Rd, the L-E has completely ignored it. Something smells in River City. Any of you people (no wonder we prefer 'y'all')have any details you'd mind letting the rest of us know about?
---
Why is GA Power allowed to donate money to politicians? Let's face it, GA Power gets its rate increases at the whim of politicians elected to the PSC.
---
The L-E ran pictures of downed trees following Thursday night storms that also hit Columbus. The area off Country Club Road still looked like a war zone Friday night. Couldn't the L-E use local pictures to write a story about?

What if Harold Cramping was actually right, but he missed 'the cut'?
