To our Veterans! Past, Present, and Future.. We.. well, real Americans, salute you!

---
Boy will tonight's Monday Night Football put the NFL's stance about allowing players to "kneel" in protest of our National Anthem.. there's no way the players can separate the disrespect to our military with whatever it is they think they are protesting.. Wait a minute.. there almost IS a way.. They could at least salute and be respectful while they are kneeling.

From the "bias? What bias?" department - Online headline/story: "President Donald Trump could not attend a commemoration in France for U.S. soldiers and marines killed during World War One on Saturday because rain made it impossible to arrange transport, the White House said. * The last minute cancellation prompted widespread criticism on social media and from some officials in Britain and the United States that Trump had "dishonored" U.S. servicemen." -- "dishonored"? Good grief! President Trump has done more to HONOR vets and their families by his revamping of the VA that was in shambles when he took over.. He's honored veterans and their families by getting soldiers killed in Korea 60+ years ago. He also HONORED active servicemen by NOT exposing them to fly a helicopter in dangerous conditions..

No wonder Bama looks so good defensively...they can rush/blitz 8 or 9 players on a pass play because they've got 2 or 3 defensive backs and 4 or 5 referees defending against the pass.

---
Good grief... Mississippi State had to go into halftime and re-strategize how to defend against the referees! Missed fumble, and stealing a touchdown are pretty bad "home cooking" plays to have to overcome against any team, but against the Number 1 team at home...

Soapbox Moment: - Momentum... let's talk about "momentum".. Momentum is basically controlled emotion and confidence. One moment can turn it on or off in a millisecond. It happens out of the blue most of the time, but it can be destroyed just as easily.. Take the Alabama-Mississippi State game yesterday.. I t was a very .. pretty much brutal... physical match-up.. Four of the best defensive linemen in the country were playing..yet referee calls changed momentum and fortunes in a heartbeat.. Two grievous "moments" happened at the most advantageous times for Bama.. conversely, they were back-breakers for State. In the opening serious, BAMA fumbled and State recovered.. the call on the field was that the runner was down..irrefutable video replays showed the ball was loose before either of the runner's knees were "down". Fumbles are review-able.. yet no call for one was made. BAMA continued down the field to score. At the end of the first half, State scored a touchdown...until a yellow flag was thrown and a State player was called for a "block in the back" penalty.. the only referee in the complex WITHOUT a clear view threw the flag (and "penalties" are not re-viewable except for "targetting").. The truth was that the Bama player "foot-fumbled and fell" and the one ref without a clear view "assumed" he was pushed. This made what should have been a 14-7 halftime score (7-7 if that first Bama TD was erased because of the pre-mentioned uncalled fumble), and State was to get the ball to start the second half. Yes "momentum" is a mysterious occurrence, sometimes there's no explanation of how or why it occurs nor when it is coming. What we do know is that"momentum" should neither be given nor squashed by the referees.

Online headline: "Recounts ordered in Florida Senate, governor races" -- You know.. some order should be dictated to consider/count ballots.. primarily, only ballots kept under constant security of an election official since the polls closed be considered and/or counted..
Case in point: Online story: "A Florida teacher found and reported a box containing potentially uncounted ballots on Thursday — two full days after extremely close midterm elections in the Sunshine State. * Schoolteacher Lakeisha Williams of Miramar Elementary School told the New York Post, “I went into the area that we use for storage and saw it in there.” -- Found it?... in a closet? .. two days after the election? Good grief, it was probably stored there weeks ago...

Hmmmm ..if black voters cast 92% of their votes for a black candidate, and 74% of white voters cast their vote for a white candidate, it's rather clear that white voters are less focused on a candidate's color than black voters. At least some people heard Dr King's "dream".

College football needs to adjust the scoring on field goals..How about 1 point for 25 yards in, 2 points for 50 to 26 yds., and 4 points for longer goals. The primary effect would be for teams with "4th and goal on the one" would go for it rather than mechanically "take the three".

---
Online headline/story: "Broward County elections supervisor explains why it's taking so long to count ballots * "We ran 22 sites, we ran 14 days, we ran 12 hours, we had a big vote by mail (during early voting), so don't try to turn it around to make it seem like I'm making comedy out of this," Snipes replied." -- Good grief.. NO ONE feels there's ANY comedy in this! What America NEEDS to know is that there's no TAINT in this.

---
From the "can I see Bill Clinton's definition of 'toxic' first" department - Online headline: "Surprise! Hollywood's finest including Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio come out against 'toxic Trump'" -- Hmmm... one thing about MY Hollywood "A-List".. the "A" stands for asshole, and these two are in the top 10.

---
With so much interest in stopping "targeting" in college football, why is it that running backs can still stiff arm a tackler's helmet or drop there heads and collide with a tackler?

---
From the "peek-a-boo.. we see you" department - Online story: "Fired FBI chief James Comey used his private Gmail account hundreds of times to conduct government business — and at least seven of those messages were deemed so sensitive by the Justice Department that they declined to release them. * The former top G-man repeatedly claimed he only used his private account for “incidental” purposes and never for anything that was classified — and that appears to be true. * But Justice acknowledged in response to a Freedom of Information request that Comey and his chief of staff discussed government business on about 1,200 pages of messages, 156 of which were obtained by The Post." --
"never for anything that was classifies"? Wait a minute.. back up a sentence! "at least seven of those messages were deemed so sensitive by the Justice Department that they declined to release them"?.. Doesn't sound like all the exchanges were personal blather.

Online headline/story: "Parkland school shooter registered to vote while in jail, outraging victim's father * Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz became a registered Florida voter behind bars in Broward County outraging the father of one of his victims.
* “He’s a mass murderer, he’s already confessed and he shouldn’t have the right to vote,” Andrew Pollack, 52, told Fox News Saturday." -- Liberals are so hypocritical.. Hey Libs.. technically, Cruz hasn't been convicted... yet.. of a felony.. technically, he's just as eligible to buy another gun as he is to register and vote.

I tell you what...after looking at the slow motion replays of Acosta , it's apparent the WH Intern has a documented #MeToo charge against "Acost-her"

River Road Roundabout Recap: Let's see.. work came to a screeching halt (.well, it was Wednesday), so...after 3 weeks..we've seen 4 days of work , a bulldozer has been added, the human waste debris 'dumpster' was decorated to scare the crap out of users , a buncha trees were taken out without one peep from the Mayor or Trees Columbus, and we still don't know if the dirt packing machine will even crank up. Your guess is as good as mine as to when/whether it will be finished in our lifetimes.

While we are on Monday, ... hmm.. May, June, July, August, September, October, and now November.. hey ZEPH.. not only is IT TIME, it was PAST TIME!

Why do scientists continue to try to "connect" humans with apes by evolution? What's clear to me is that God saw what he created in apes, and wanted a better version HE could commune and converse with, so He created humans... Other wise, there'd be example after example of "evolution in progress".

On the other hand.. though not via DNA, scientists could make an argument about Democrats being a more associated with apes... hey do share more in common.. an absence of God in their lives, and a tendency to prefer mob rule/action versus intelligent civility.

From the"I guess this means we have hope in America, too" department - Online headline: "Philippines hands Imelda Marcos lengthy prison term in graft case" -- Hmmm and Imelda only had shoes to hide versus Hellary's "boxes" of e-mails..

---
M/C L-E headline/story: "Hecht, who designed prominent Columbus buildings, retires again * In your own mind, you get to a place where you think it’s time to go, and I reached that period. . . . Nobody has forced me.” -- "nobody has forced me"? Why would anyone say that?

---
Drive by.. even through Columbus High School on a weekend, and look at the construction going on to build the new wrestling/cheerleader practice facility.. It's going to creep into the baseball field even more than I first imagined..and confirms that there really was no practical area construct it once the MCSB ruled out any possibility of building it attached to the gymnasium because it would eliminate as many (or more) of the parking spaces they added 2 years ago to give MORE parking.

From Columbus Council Agenda: "II. GMA RECERTIFICATION CITY OF ETHICS PROGRAM: Approval is requested to recertify as a “Certified City of Ethics” and if approved accept recognition from the Georgia Municipal Association.

The Columbus Consolidated Government first applied in December 2000 to become a Certified City of Ethics and was awarded the designation January 2001 and again in 2017. To remain certified, cities must recertify as a Georgia Certified City of Ethics. The purpose of this requirement is to make sure that the importance of ethical conduct in public service and the requirements of the city’s ethics ordinance are brought to the attention of newly elected officials and regularly reinforced for incumbent officials. Additionally, recertification will provide the GMA Ethics Certification Committee with an opportunity to ensure that any changes to the city’s ordinance since the original certification preserve the key element necessary for participation in the program.

Approval is requested to apply for recertification and, if approved, accept recognition from the Georgia Municipal Association as a “Certified City of Ethics”. The governing subscribes to the following ethics principles and pledges to conduct its affairs accordingly:
• Serve others not ourselves.
• Use resources with efficiency and economy.
• Treat all people fairly.
• Use the power of our position for the well-being of our constituents.
• Create an environment of honesty, openness and integrity."
-- Wait a minute.. the first Forensic Audit completed showed ethics violations, and no application should be applied for to be certified as "ethical" until all the Forensic Audits are complete, and all discrepancies have been addressed AND accounted for..

---
Another Council Agenda item of dubious clarity: Approval is requested to accept a donation of a pool table, with an approximate value of $4,000, by an anonymous donor to be used by the Recreation Division of Parks and Recreation. The piano is being donated for use at a Recreation Center for the citizens utilizing that center." --"pool table"? "piano"? Who knew they were so interchangeable...

---
Another Council Agenda item: "ELECTRONIC VALIDATING FAREBOXES - It is requested that council approve the purchase of three Odyssey electronic validating fareboxes from Genfare (Elk Grove Village, IL), in the amount of $43,328 ($14,356 each, plus $260 Freight), to be installed on Metra buses. The new fareboxes accept a wide variety of bus fare payment options (i.e. cash, swipe card, and credit card) and will improve operations and security." -- Two questions: Do all the buses have $14,356.00 in fare collections annually, and secondly.. does this mean SNAP food cards can be used to travel on buses?

---
Another Council Agenda item: "FORD EXPLORER – GEORGIA STATEWIDE CONTRACT - It is requested that council authorize the purchase of one Ford Explorer from Allan Vigil Ford (Morrow, Ga.), via Georgia State contract at a unit price of $31,355. The vehicle will be used by the mayor elect. This is a new vehicle that was authorized in the fiscal 2019 budget." -- Hmmm.. does this mean the current Mayor damaged her vehicle so bad it can't be passed on to the new Mayor?

---
One more Council Agenda item of note: "Nov. 14, 2018 - One 3-Ton Vibratory Asphalt Roller – The Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide one 3-Ton Vibratory Asphalt Roller." -- Hmmm... maybe all the Councilpersons should have to sit on the new vibrating asphalt roller and drive it for a few minutes.. it may wake them up and get our streets repaired.

---
You know... Stacey Abrams was her own worst enemy...she wanted us to trust her with our votes, yet she didn't take the concern registering many thousands of new voters that accuracy matters. Now those "voters" will have to get their registration info corrected themselves so they can vote in the future.

---
Why would the American voter want to see the Democrats take on healthcare..again..we saw what the Democrats did with healthcare when they had a supermajority, and gave us ObamaCRAP with zero Republican input, and zero Democrats who read it before signing it...

---
I understand that Broward County Board of Elections is separating the first page from the ballots in order to speed up a recount. Boy does this reek if fraud potential. The whole ballot should be counted in order to have a reference point to how down ballot races come out compared to the original count. By removing the down ballot pages, it becomes much easier to slip in fraud ballots to replace the original ballot.

---
From the "and guess what... he's right.. as usual" department - Online headline/story: "Wildfires rage in California, Trump blames 'forest mismanagement' * "There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," he wrote in a Twitter post." -- California has so many restrictive "green" regulations and laws prohibiting/preventing old growth harvesting, and forest floor debris management so when any fire gets a 'start', there is just too much "fuel" available to allow prompt management and containment.

---
Liberals have no clue about the silliness of their "gun reform" quest... The adage, "When guns are outlaws, only outlaws will own guns" drifts right over their heads..What they need to champion is judicial and penal reform..What they need to focus on is intolerance for guns being used in crimes, and criminals illegally possessing/using guns.

---
Republicans need to unite on all these 'all of a sudden we found some 'lost' ballots'...the Rally Call is, "America doesn't believe your unverified stories on this either!"

---
So, Michelle Obama says she'll NEVER FORGIVE president Trump.. Hmmm...betcha God is taking notes and names..hope she has some good answers in the future.

In a discussion on Fox about Michelle Obama's book and the point she made.. in bold print..a Pulitzer Award winner said .. this was the ... the "most powerful moment" of the book... then she followed quickly.. of course "I hadn't read the it"..What a kick at her own credibility!

---
What Michelle Obama PROBABLY didn't address in her book (like the Pulitzer Award winner, I haven't read it either.. and will not do so in the future) is that her husband is TOTALLY responsible for Trump now being our President. It was at the 2011 White House Correspondence Dinner.. President Obama took the podium, and spent nearly 5 minutes taunting and eviscerating dinner guest Donald Trump in front of the world and God Himself, over Trump's comments about the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate.. (too be honest, I've never seen a Trump tweet that was as vicious about an individual as President Obama's attack was on Trump). You could almost see the "wheels turning" in Trump's head about being the next president.. There wasn't time to start from scratch and win in 2012, but 2016 was a different story.

---
I totally disagree with Newt Gingrich's thoughts about why Clinton got re-elected after he was impeached.. it was not because sympathy for him made him popular again, it was because the Republicans through and absolute DUD against him in the 1996 election.. Good grief.. Bob Dole was about as lovable as "Chucky"... but not as popular.

---
Online headline/story: Bill Nelson Florida ‘Emergency Recount Fund’ to pay for legal action * The three-term Democrat, who lost narrowly to Republican Gov. Rick Scott on Election Night but has declined to concede as votes continue to come in from liberal districts, sent at least his third fundraising e-mail around 5 p.m. Eastern time Thursday. * “As more votes are being counted, Sen. Bill Nelson’s vote share is increasing and will continue to increase,” the fundraising blast read. “We believe Sen. Nelson will be the winner of this election at the end of this process and we must see it through to the end.” " -- Good grief.. a thee term Democrat Senator has more cash stocked away in his campaign account than he needs, but,, in typical Democrat form... wants other people's money to pay for his needs. Out with the wastemonger!

---
We just finished (well almost have finished) the election season with a flurry of celebrity endorsements and personal appearances.. Oprah went so.. no, TOO far by declaring that blacks should vote because their ancestors could not. What she didn't say was that it was the politics of the Democrats that denied blacks voting right. You know.. the whole truth is the truth.. half-truths are no different than any other lie.. Oprah.. shame on you!

---
Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp are getting married... you know, there has to be a "Cougar" joke in here somewhere...

---
M/C L-E headline/story: "Judge blocks pipeline permit, orders new review (Now, before I read further, I'm betting this judge is from US District 9) * U.S. District Judge Brian Morris put a hold on the project late Thursday, ruling that the State Department had not fully considered potential oil spills and other impacts as required by federal law." --
Well, I'm close.. the judge is actually assigned to the Montana District,, but... BUT any appeals of one of the 3 Montana District Judges is HEARD only by the US 9TH District Court in California..and.. of course, Judge Morris is an Obama appointee...

From the "even liberals should cringe at JUST the thought of this" department -M/C L-E headline/story: "Tiny homes might make their way into Historic District * At a cost of $200-$300 a square foot, a 400-square-foot house could cost $80,000 to $120,000. " -- Can you not see Mayor Tom-LYING-son's Tyler Technologies software seeing a $120,000.00 "400 sq ft tiny building" next to a $300,000 dollar 2,500 square foot home, and "decide" the 2,500 square ft home be FMV'd at $750,000.00 because the square ft evaluation should be the same? Oh, and heaven forbid Tyler Technologies' software picks up on a homeowner adding a backyard wooden storage shed or doll house, and adding the tax costs at $300.00 a square ft. Oh, and ask Mark Cantrell if those $10,000.00 storage building could be bought and and converted to a "tiny home" for another $10-$15,000. and sold for $100,000.00 plus in the Historic District.

And excuse me... but what "tiny home" buyer.. especially one who would rent such out, is going to spend $200/$300 a square foot on such property?.. In fact... how DOES one spend $200/$300 a square foot on such?
