A fellow BCer thinks it's time for a new slogan for Columbus... that Columbus has not... will not... live up to "We Do Amazing". In spite of having voted in a Public Safety LOST, Columbus is still short a 100 or so law enforcement officers.. has difficulty keeping and recruiting new officers, and is a front runner.. per capita.. for the most dangerous city in America.....

Yesterday was the first day of Columbus, GA using it's new quarter-of-a-million dollar automated recycling trucks. Obviously, some more communication between the City and it's citizens is needed.. As I drove around my neighborhood, I saw 3 homes in "compliance" with the "new rules - wheels to curb,, 3' of space on either side".. and bookooodles of cardboard boxes on the curbs.. It all got picked up, most went with the recycling, but quite a bit went with the garbage..

Wait a minute! There's a bill in GA that "we" will vote on that will give ad valorem tax exemption on farm equipment previously reserved for strictly family farms. While I think annual ad valorem taxes on already paid for business equipment is "robbery", just giving it to farmers only is not just when still charging other small businesses that crippling tax.. I applauded when the State removed the annual ad valorem tax on our vehicles for the same reason..depreciable assets should only be taxed by a sales tax at the time of purchase...
