Random thought..after listening to NYC outgoing Mayor de Bl@sio proclaim (now that he's leaving office during a record crime rate period) "everything's fine again", I happened to think about which NYC businesses were struck the hardest blow by NYC restrictions created by Covid-19..first thoughts considered nursing home/hospitals, hotels, restaurants, Broadway Theaters, and brick & mortar retail stores.... then it hit me.. it had to be Parking Garages! Think about it.. anyone driving into NYC was looking at daily rates of $18.00 to $92.00 if he/she had a monthly contract.... and if you only drove in for a shopping day or dinner/theater night, parking meter hourly rates run from $5.00-$7.50 ... but.. with most people working from home, there was no reason to drive to town, so those spaces just sat empty...

Now... in the Arbery murder trial.. The jury verdict was just as right as the jury verdict in the Rittenhouse trial, but in both trials, the prosecutorial teams, and in the Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William "Roddie" Bryan trial, the defense team, were embarrassments for civil justice. And the protesters.. they should have been removed from the court house areas at a minimum ... juries should only be listening to evidence, not community or "imported" intimidation.

 Spoiler Alert: I mentioned the higher costs of turkeys this year versus last, but what;s not being highlighted is the costs of cooking them..One of my BCers is an avid DYI Fried Turkey Aficionado, and he just informed me that the 35 pound container of peanut oil that cost $19.00 last year at Sam's, costs $55.00 this year.. Unless you use "new math" to calculate, this is almost tripling the cost! We're not just talking about inflation.. were talking INFLATION with a Capital "T" Right here in River City!

You know, I'd pretty much written Portland, OR "off" as just another BLUE CITY that's failed to allow law enforcement do it's duty to protect law-abiding citizens when it re-elected the mayor following the George Floyd riots.. but I've got one last comment to make...the "protesters" were not such then, nor are they now.. they are simply criminals using failed liberal city policies as their excuse to commit crimes to benefit themselves... Ben Franklin once penned, "The Lord helps those who help themselves".. and was about personal achievement... but it's been hijacked by the Left to be the creed of criminals...

With Saturday's 62nd "official" homicide recorded here in Columbus, GA for 2021 &and with 5 more weeks of "the busy season" still ahead,we've already achieved the "dubious honor" of have eclipsing 31 HOMICIDES per 100,000 people. You know, we've been seeing a lot of new industries announcing lately of big new ​businesses going to areas within 100 miles of us... so we have to wonder if our Sky-high number of homicides have steered businesses away from Columbus.... Columbus is neat city and has lots to offer..so there has to be one-dominating issue that's making new business avoid us...

Police say they were dispatched to 3400 8th Avenue, Wilson Homes apartments" -- Columbus, GA's 62nd "official" homicide... if we have no more in 2021, we'll have 31 per 100K people...and that puts Columbus in the top echelon of American crime cities. To boot... the death site is but "a stone's throw" away from Veterans Parkway at River Road.. Think about how close 1,000s of Columbus citizens drive by one of Columbus' most dangerous homicide areas ... every day... all day...

Guess we in Columbus, GA should be "thankful" we have "ONLY" had 62..versus 46 last year.. Hmm.. So far this year, Austin, TX has a 38% increase while Columbus, GA has "only" a 34% increase in homicides..sounds like a "small blessing" until you realize that Austin, TX is about 5 times larger in population than Columbus, GA. Columbus GA has 31 homicides per 100,000 people while Austin, TX has "only" about 16 homicides per 100,000 people.. Wonder how the Chamber of Commerce here "spins" this figure?
