Columbus, GA homicides have soared 50% since last year, and now we're hearing that car windows are being broken in "smash & grab" at a huge rate.. the only good thing is that we are not San Francisco.. car owners there are so fearful of glass-smashing that many are leaving their cars on the street unlocked but with hatchback doors open which is an open invitation to use cars as personal Port-a-Potties.

In uncertain times, government waste is more intolerable than times... I have made note of what has to be a huge waste at the Columbus Water Works...My account is on "Auto Pay" yet I'm getting snail-mail notices that remind me that I am on "Auto Pay" and this is not a bill so don't pay it..as you'll see, I get the "1st Class main envelope, with a "do not pay" bill, a news letter, and a remittance envelope. I get the bill and newsletter by e-mail as well which saves the cost of mailing, printing, and handling as well as 2 envelopes. This is not the first time I brought this to your attention.. and I'm betting it's probably not the last, either..

Hey, certainly some government furnished, eye-witnessed, document could.... should... be required, because if a high school freshman "boy" without the proper plumbing showed up in a real boys locker room, "he'd" soon be wishing he had some sequined RED shoes that "he" could click the heels 3 times, and return "him" to his former self..

The folder is known as the Re-Entry Resource Information Folder, those entering back into the community will find several items in the folder to help them get back on their feet. * Inside the folder, former inmates will find a letter of encouragement from Sheriff Greg Countryman. A list of organizations that will help them find temporary housing, transportation, G.E.D. assistance, addiction recovery, expungement, and more. The folder will also provide a list of second-chance employers." -- Hmmm now, if cutting recidivism is the goal, then the number one way is to make sure a first timer LEARNS he does NOT want to come back.. Hard time.. hard work.. Then, even a folder is not going to help, if a prisoner cannot read or do basic math at an adult level.. Teach them to read and do math.. Jobs that will keep them off the street require skills.. teach them craftsman and computer skills so the first time criminals will have careers instead of being career criminals.
