Online headline: "Columbus Council reverses longstanding policy, to allow Alabama residents to take public safety vehicles home" -- The second major mistake along this line.... the first was letting police/fire officers drive their Columbus taxpayer funded vehicles to homes in Harris (or other ones in GA) County. They don't support our tax needs here either. I remember when police officers were first allowed to take their duty cars to their homes.. there were high hopes that cars driven by one driver would be better maintained, but having Police Vehicles parked on the streets (or driveways) in neighborhoods would be a visible crime deterrent... Of course that aspect doesn't work when such vehicles aren't on Columbus streets, or when vehicles are parked in garages..
