(WTVM) - In one Columbus district, the community is getting ready for several road improvements including the development of three more roundabouts. * The roundabout on St. Mary’s Road has been in operation for quite some time, but with the news of three more coming to Steam Mill Road in District 4, leaders are urging drivers to know the rules of the road ahead of the project completion. * “You should also put your blinker on when exiting because most roundabouts are pedestrian friendly.” -- Good grief! $22.5 million for 3 round-a-bouts! That's $7.5 million each... Remember when the state was going to build the one on River Road for $1.2 million... but after redesigns, the state backed out and Columbus, GA taxpayers got hit with $4.8 million... since then we've paid many thousands for a sprinkler system and major landscaping .. I doubt seriously the savings in electricity for traffic lights will ever pay for as suggested. Now, with the area-collected $400,0000,000.00 in TSPLOST bulging in the pockets of the GA DOT, the State doesn't care how much things cost.

Oh! And if speeding on Steam Mill Road was dangerous in the past, wait until the speeders tear through dual lane roundabouts, and .. right.. those speeders aren’t likely to use their blinkers….
