For Christmas, my bride gave me a wonderful new coffee table book on baseball parks, “Ballparks 8 A Journey Through the Fields of the Past, Present, and Future”.. Historic and New stadiums of Little League, Minor League, Major League ..and even overseas were included ... but I did notice that Historic Golden Park in Columbus GA, past home of many major league affiliated teams was not... hmmm .. maybe Golden Park is not as "historic" as Mayor Henderson seems to believe is worth being the center attraction of a $50 MILLION DOLLAR taxpayer funded makeover and development.

Wow! According to the Sports Council of Columbus, GA website, baseball Hall-of-Famer Tim Glavine played at Golden Park... Who knew Tom Glavine had a twin brother? Oh... I'm trying to figure out when Ty Cobb played baseball in Historic Golden Park as well.. Cobb's career with the Tigers ended in 1926, and his last two seasons were with the Athletics (1927 & 1928), and while baseball has been played in the same area since 1926, the Historic Golden Park now standing wasn't erected until 1951.
