Hey. remember, because of the effervescent reports on AP awards for Carver High, my asking for the MCSD to supply the names of Carver High's S.T.A.R student winners for the past two years? Well this is the MCSD SECOND response:
"I do apologize in the delay in responding. Communications has contacted the Chief of Teaching and Learning and have been advised that a list does exist with the event sponsors, Rotary of Columbus, however that information has not been provided. Therefore, we are reaching out to our high school principals to obtain the names of their S.T.A.R. students (as applicable) and will advise you of our findings. Thank you for your patience."
Don't you know this makes all the winners of S.T.A.R student recognition at each school "feel special"? Good grief.. how can the MCSD NOT know the names of such a prestigious program?

thinking about the hardship certain school days off/early releases play on
parents..now, if we can get the MCSD/MCSB to pay attention to the hardship a
poor education plays on students, too. The part I abhor is that "grown-ups" in
the education system think the older kids that the MCSD has failed are capable
of being substitute childcare workers for their younger siblings.

Of course, the MCSD/MCSB could help families and other taxpayers even more
if they started the school year in September and ended it in early June, so
school vacation times would mirror traditional vacation periods in the private
sector workplace... to boot.. eliminating 5 of the hottest weeks of the year

The signs will be placed in strategic locations throughout the community where there is high bicyclist activity and motorist interaction." -- Can't get this song out of my head, "Sign, sign, everywhere a sign, Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind".. You know the irony is that placing those signs next to the bicycle lanes will encourage bicyclers to ride further into the traffic lanes that cars use out of fear of hitting a sign.
