Online headline/story: "Fox News anchor grills Hillary Clinton on her email scandal *
Last March, facing criticism for exclusively using a private server during her time as secretary of state, Clinton handed over about 30,000 work-related emails for the State Department to make public. She deleted about 31,000 more emails she says were personal in nature. Since then, many of the released emails have been marked classified upon their release." -- For a moment and for the sake of discussion.. let's take her on.. well.. AT her word.. "31,000 e-mails were of a personal nature"? Hubby Bill says he has only gotten/used e-mail twice in his life.. to whom did she exchange 30,998 personal e-mails?

---
Online headline: "Virginia Senate approves electric chair amid drug shortage" -- Hmmm... yeah!.. and make the convicted choose.. hey.. let's throw hanging and firing squad back in the mix as well.. and put up a website where families of the victims of any murderer can vote for which method!

---
Online headline/story : "Hillary Clinton Says She Agrees Her Role In Mass Incarceration Was A Mistake"  *
“That’s why I am focused and have a very comprehensive approach towards fixing the criminal justice system, going after systemic racism that stalks the justice system, ending private prisons and ending the incarceration of low level offenders and i am committed to doing that,” she continued." -- As I recall, that bill was one of her husband's and the Democratic majority House/Senate passed in 1994.. Hmmm .. that's been over 20 years ago.. to boot, she had 6+ years under her husband's term, and these 7+ year under NERO-bamageddon's term to suggest/repair whatever she won't divulge now unless she gets elected.. in unison .. Whatta Crock of BS!

---
From the "she can't win either way" department - Online headline: "Woman who can't get a law job sues her alma mater * A**  A*******a, 37, is accusing Thomas Jefferson School of Law of using inflated post-graduate employment figures and salaries to defraud applicants." - Good grief.. if she presents her case in a satisfactory way, she shows the jury that her lack of finding a law job is her fault, and if she loses, then the jury would also know it's her fault..

---
From the "let's revisit a previous Breakfast Club report" department - Online story: "Chicago police said Monday they had identified the suspected triggerman in the execution-style killing of a 9-year-old boy that shocked the violence-scarred city this past November.  *  D***** B****-D***, 22, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tyshawn Lee, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.  * Tyshawn was playing basketball in a park on the city's far south side on the afternoon of Nov. 2 when he was lured into a nearby alley and shot in the head. Seven .40-caliber bullet casings were found at the scene." -- Hey, Sharlatan.. hey "Black Lives Matter", who are you going to defend on this?

---
Hey. remember, because of the effervescent reports on AP awards for Carver High, my asking for the MCSD to supply the names of Carver High's S.T.A.R student winners for the past two years? Well this is the MCSD SECOND response:

"I do apologize in the delay in responding.  Communications has contacted the Chief of Teaching and Learning and have been advised that a list does exist with the event sponsors, Rotary of Columbus, however that information has not been provided.  Therefore, we are reaching out to our high school principals to obtain the names of their S.T.A.R. students (as applicable) and will advise you of our findings. Thank you for your patience."

Don't you know this makes all the winners of S.T.A.R student recognition at each school "feel special"? Good grief.. how can the MCSD NOT know the names of such a prestigious program?
---
L-E story: "The Thanksgiving break would be Wednesday through Friday instead of the whole week. The committee’s rationale is that most parents aren’t off work that Monday and Tuesday, so the weeklong break for students who don’t have siblings old enough to take care of them was a burden for those parents to find childcare." -- Hmm.. something I can actually partially agree with.. thinking about the hardship certain school days off/early releases play on parents..now, if we can get the MCSD/MCSB to pay attention to the hardship a poor education plays on students, too. The part I abhor is that "grown-ups" in the education system think the older kids that the MCSD has failed are capable of being substitute childcare workers for their younger siblings.
---
Of course, the MCSD/MCSB could help families and other taxpayers  even more if they started the school year in September and ended it in early June, so school vacation times would mirror traditional vacation periods in the private sector workplace... to boot.. eliminating 5 of the hottest weeks of the year would make a dent in paying GA Power bills for airconditioning.

---
What's is it with Rubio? Now he's asking folks in Florida to give him their vote. I don't want to give my vote to anyone...I want who I support to EARN it!

---
Did you hear Bernie "shush" Hillary for interrupting him during the Republican debate..I'd love to see Bill do that.

---
A new Monmouth poll shows new info for the Michigan primary, Kasich is now ahead of Rubio...good grief, how can Rubio ask anyone to seriously believe he could beat Hillary when he's below Kasich at this point?

---
Think about this.. a Trump vs Bernie presidential race... what would lobbyists do to keep money coming IN since no businesses or industry groups would need to send them money because neither Trump nor Bernie will be accepting any?

---
Detroit...how is this a battle for income equality for the Democrat primary? Didn't we read about union UAW workers getting a new contract that raises their $78.00 per hour jobs to about $85/$88.00 per hour?

---
I'm listening to an ad by Ken Nugent that has some "clients" celebrating the "big" checks Ken has gotten them (of course it doesn't mention his share for their pain). Ken then comes on and says, Of course I can't guarantee getting one for "you". No wonder so many lawyers are Democrats. It's easy to promise big bucks to get voters, and it's just as easy to blame a jury or the Republicans when it doesn't happen.

---

From Columbus' Council Agenda: " PURCHASES:
CHEVROLET TAHOE 2WD POLICE PURSUIT VEHICLES – GEORGIA STATEWIDE CONTRACT: It is requested that council approve the purchase of three Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles from Hardy Chevrolet (Dallas, Ga.), in the amount of $34,610.00 per unit, for a total price of $103,830, via Georgia State contract.
2016 FORD F150, GEORGIA STATEWIDE CONTRACT: It is requested that council approve the purchase of one 2016 Ford F150 from Allan Vigil Ford (Morrow, Ga.), in the amount of $29,006, via Georgia state contract." -- You know.. why aren't deals made through our local dealers?

---
From Columbus' Council Agenda: " BICYCLE COLUMBUS DONATION: Approval is requested to receive $1,020.60 in donations from Bicycle Columbus for the purpose of purchasing 30 roadway signs that shall display state law 40-6-56, requiring motorists to provide bicyclists with no less than 3 feet of space when passing on roadway. The signs will be placed in strategic locations throughout the community where there is high bicyclist activity and motorist interaction." -- Can't get this song out of my head, "Sign, sign, everywhere a sign, Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind".. You know the irony is that placing those signs next to the bicycle lanes will encourage bicyclers to ride further into the traffic lanes that cars use out of fear of hitting a sign.

---
L-E story: "A 20-year-old male cyclist was admitted to the Columbus Midtown Medical Center Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and wreck in the 2200 block of Marion Street, according to a Columbus police report.  *  Columbus Police said they found the cyclist lying in the middle of the road with his pink and gray Magna mountain bike lying next to him when they responded to the scene of the 8:20 p.m. collision. * Police spoke to a female witness who stated that she was driving westbound on Marion Street when she saw a white late model midsize vehicle directly in front of her “swerve irately and strike” the cyclist. The automobile had “aftermarket rims,” she noted. * She said a slim black man dressed in all white left the vehicle from the passenger side and walked toward the cyclist before hastily returning to the vehicle. The driver then continued onto Marion Street and turned south onto Britt Avenue." -- Hmmmm.. maybe Council should make some of the signs being voted on today should read "Bike Lives Matter".

---
Online story: "   Immigrants' rights supporters, led by Voces de la Frontera,  lost a key battle to get ID cards for people who are living in the U.S. illegally when the Wisconsin Legislature passed a bill to ban counties issuing such cards, but activists say they're not giving up the fight. lost a key battle to get ID cards for people who are living in the U.S. illegally when the Wisconsin Legislature passed a bill to ban counties issuing such cards, but activists say they're not giving up the fight." -- Good grief.. the state already issues ID's.. allowing  individual counties to do so would just compound the falsification of information and muddy real identification.. not to mention the fraud that would ensue in voting and welfare programs.

---
Online story: "It took less than a day after Oregon’s governor signed one of the nation’s largest minimum wage hikes into law for activists to complain that it’s not enough – and to begin pushing for further wage mandates to be included on the state’s ballot in November.  * The newly signed law will raise Oregon’s minimum wage from the current level of $9.25 per hour to $14.75 per hour in cities like Portland. Smaller cities will have a minimum wage of $13.50 and “rural areas” will have the minimum wage set at $12.50.  The increases will be phased-in over the next six years, with the first increases taking effect in July" -- Good grief.. when you give a slacker an inch, they want more with their next breath.. of course, actually working hard and EARNING a better wage isn't in their  vision.

---
Oh, Oregon is on a mission to eliminate coal. Legislation passed by the state’s assembly, which will need to be signed into law by Governor Kate Brown, will transition Oregon away from coal, which currently provides around a third of the state’s electricity supply. As soon as Governor Brown signs it (may have happened yesterday), Thousands of jobs at skilled labor wages will start to disappear. Way to go libs.. you keep shooting yourself in the foot,

---
Online story: "Attorneys for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said Saturday they may seek a deposition from presidential contender Donald Trump or call him as a witness at a legal proceeding, saying they fear his comments could affect their client's right to a fair trial." -- Good grief.. Bregd(_*_)hl is not wanting a "fair trial" but a trial that is weighted in his favor.. and there's nothing fair about that.

---
Incredibly stupid.. naive as a minimum, LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Republicans, guns, and education. Only one of those things leads to something positive." --  Good grief.. The Democratic education plan has exceeded their highest expectations.. It's downgraded the results to the point that diplomas are more of a record of "participation" rather than achievement, and the Democrats have effectively passed the blame on to those trying to correct the system.
---
L-E headline: " Aflac and TSYS make ‘ethical’ list" -- Hmm.. wanna bet neither invites a Clinton to be on its board?
---

Did you notice the sudden expansion of the L-E's "Foreclosure Section today.. a full 8-page section and part of another. yeah.. the economy and job market is really improving like the L-E and Mayor TomLYINGson are touting.

Monday, March 7, 2016

Nancy Reagan.. 1921-2016..

---
Online headline/story: "Navy SEALs tell top House lawmaker they don't have enough combat rifles *  After SEALs return from a deployment, their rifles are given to other commandos who are shipping out, said Hunter, a former Marine who served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. This weapons carousel undercuts the "train like you fight" ethos of the U.S. special operations forces, they said. * U.S. military officials said they were looking into the issue." -- "military officials were looking into the issue"?  Good grief.. after 2-terms of NERO-bamageddon, the SEALs are lucky if they all have swimming flippers.

---
Online headline/story: "Lousy food, low pay ... lawmakers testify (gripe) about working on Capitol Hill * Here is one complaint and concern the lawmakers debated at the session:

 Low wages for aides.

Good grief... not one of the "lawmakers" has earned his/her own salary, so it's apparent aides are not earning what they are getting paid as it is! Besides, why should aides of lawmakers be higher than "aides
of taxpayers who are paying for the lawmakers AND their aides?

----
Instant repeat - Online headline/story: "Lousy food, low pay ... lawmakers testify (gripe) about working on Capitol Hill * Here is one complaint and concern the lawmakers debated at the session:

The vulnerability of House garages to a terrorism attack and how security precautions make it a pain for staff to navigate the workplace.

"security precautions make it a pain"?  Good grief.. perhaps it's the lousy job the "lawmakers" are doing that arouses suspicion of the security team that they are actually suppose to be in the Capitol.

---
Instant repeat - Online headline/story: "Lousy food, low pay ... lawmakers testify (gripe) about working on Capitol Hill * Here is one complaint and concern the lawmakers debated at the session:

Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the top Democrat on the Legislative Branch Appropriations panel and chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, posed multiple questions to acting House Chief Administrative Officer Bill Plaster at the hearing about the availability of tampons and sanitary napkins.
*  “When you need a feminine hygiene product, you need one. Immediately,” lectured Wasserman Schultz. “For the convenience store to stop stocking products like that is really inconvenient. It’s the opposite of the purpose of a convenience store.”" --

"when you need a feminine hygiene product, you need one immediately"? Excuse me, but shouldn't a Congresswoman know she's going to need such, and have her own supply? In fact, since Wasserman Schultz is perpetually in PMS mode, she should carry hers in a backpack.

---
It's definitely between Cruz and Trump now.. Rubio's immaturity caught up with him. Rubio was shut out of delegates in Maine and Louisiana by not getting  past the minimum vote threshold.. In Maine, the threshold was only 10%... pathetic.

---
You know.. the Republican Party  should just name Trump its presidential candidate.. With the number of people who have announced hey are leaving if Trump wins, America will start out a better place for the rest of us.

---
The L-E published the local primary results yesterday. There's only one question.. well actually two.. that need to be asked after the primary.. why do voters in South Columbus still support the Democratic Party, and did too many Wynnbrook voters forget it wasn't a cuteness contest...... Rubio?

---
You know..another p-poor L-E/Chitwood analysis..why is there no mention of the number of early/absentee votes? I think it would "interesting" to see how many votes from each precinct were cast early and which candidates benefited.

---
In 1990, I ran as a write-in candidate for mayor.. I got to know Margaret Jenkins quite well during the forums.. Margaret Jenkins was a dynamo .. and former Democrat running as a Republican. As she put it, she'd been a Democrat all her life then woke up.. She woke up when she realized that Democrat politicians promised the world but never delivered. .. Nothing has changed, so why do South Columbus voters still support Democrats?

---
L-E headline/story: "Changes to the Ledger-Enquirer coming Wednesday * You’ll see summaries at the top of stories, which will give you a quick synopsis if you don’t have time for a deeper read" -- "summaries"? What we'll get is "biased opinion" that "may", but probably "may not" correspond exactly with the detail/facts of the complete story.. of course, that's assuming we will get the "complete and factual story".

---
Instant repeat - L-E headline: "Changes to the Ledger-Enquirer coming Wednesday " -- Unfortunately, the changes will not be what neither the L-E nor community needs. Just like before, there won't be any scrutiny to actions of the Council or MCSD, nor will the L-E keep up-to-date crime statistics.

---
L-E story: "A stray bullet was fired through the walls of three apartments at Cougar Village early today but no one was injured, Columbus police said. * An investigation revealed the errant bullet was fired from an apartment in Building No. 5. at 4712 Milgen Road where a man said he was attempting to clean his 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol about 2:15 a.m." -- Good grief.. what a stupid story/report..to clean a Glock properly, you remove the slide and barrel.

---
Trump won two of four states on Saturday yet the first question Fox asked him on Sunday morning was if he thought his debate performance on Thursday hurt him... huh? I think that question should be asked to Rubio. He had a miserable Saturday including two states he got shut out of winning any delegates.

---
Qualifying for 5 local Council and 4 School Board seats begins today. Neither group's responsibility is to micro-manage...but it IS their job...their goal to support as well as control those being paid to run the City and School system..not by districts but by what's best for the taxpayers as a whole.

---
I'm about to resign my membership at Sam's! Went by Saturday with the intent of buying a new camera and TV (my bride has finally acquiesced to a larger one in our living room). Got there and had to park in Phenix City.. Walked into the entry and there wasn't a single shopping cart available.. walked in and watched in amazement at entire families shopping (rules are one guest), and paying with EBT cards. Wait a minute.. I qualify/pay for an annual membership yet people using entitlement cards that your and my taxes fund are shopping there. Why? I mean they got there the same way I did .. by car/truck, and mine was probably the oldest vehicle in the lot.. and  the cell phones.. I don't think I saw a child above 10 that didn't have one..I just left.. Sam's lost about $3,000.00 in sales Saturday.. I went home and ordered the camera and heading elsewhere to buy a TV today.

---
Before I went to Sam's, I dropped =by Lowe's to return 2 sets of curtain rods, and buy 2 longer ones. Went to the refund station.. very smooth.. then the clerk asked whether I wanted cash or put it back on my card.. I said,  "card". Then she asked if  "5 to 7 days" was OK. Of course I said NO,, just give me the cash, and she did. I asked her "why... it "cost" you the cost of swiping my debit card when I bought these and now you giving me the full cash amount plus losing the cost of "swiping" my card.. You know.. business ideas start at the top, but business profits start at the bottom.

---
Rubio is pissin' me off... I don't want candidates more interested in beating Trump than winning the White House and Congress.

---
Hey, Fox..it's Saturday ..10:10 AM....Neal Cavuto just announced SHmIT Romney was coming on in a minute.  I just cut to another station. Put that in your ratings analysis.

---
It really gets to me to hear Republican candidates talking about what/who is/isn't a conservative candidate/policy. I have one question to inject...are the ranters talking about their or Webster's Dictionary's definition of "conservative"?

---
Libera media just can't...won't let go if a story..even after contrary facts are well known. The OJ's knife story jx a good example..even though a forensic exam has ruled that this is not the knife that OJ used, ABC's Good Morning America reported it Saturday AM like it is an ongoing story. PS- Fox was doing it, too.

---
Super stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Shame on any Vietnam veteran for voting for five-time Vietnam war draft dodger. He didn’t want to serve then and he’s not able to be Commander in Chief now." -- Hey, Dumbo.. wrong Clinton.. it's his wife that's running now!

---
L-E headline/story: "SOME IN GOP START SEEING CRUZ AS BEST ALTERNATIVE TO TRUMP
 *  Republican leaders on Sunday grappled with the prospect that the best hope for stopping Donald Trump’s march to the nomination may be Ted Cruz — the only candidate who causes as much heartburn among party elites as the billionaire businessman, if not more." -- Good grief.. isn't it time that the RNC/GOP start looking at who's the best candidate for the American future rather than the future of the GOP? The funny thing is.. the voters will decide that if the RNC/GOP just backs away.

---
I do not play the rumor game, but there are rumblings about mistresses in Rubio's life.. well.. he is adorably cute...

---
L-E headline/story: "Hundreds expected at gay wedding expo * By BRADY McCOMBS * ASSociated Press
 *  SALT LAKE CITY — Hundreds of people are expected Sunday at a wedding expo in Salt Lake City aimed at connecting same-sex couples with businesses who will work their weddings in a state where florists, bakers and photographers have a legal right to refuse to serve a gay couple and commonly do." -- "Hundreds expected"? Good grief.. why is this newsworthy to begin with, and why would the L-E waste trees to print it? There were "100s" at the First Baptist Church of Columbus "house-warming" opening of it's new City Ministry facility, "Second Story" at the corner of 11th St and Broadway last evening, and that was newsworthy .. even for the L-E.

---
The oath sworn by all new/re-elected presidents is: ""I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" -- NERO-bamageddon is going to escape prosecution by a technicality...  he IS operating at "the best of (his) abilility".. unfortunately, he's just not very good.

---
Our L-E has published this Toles "cartoon"..  a quick search indicates there's no truth in this matter, but knowing how Democrats have "changed" the rules _without reading them), I would like confirmation from some of our legal eagles.. Of course, our Columbus L-E thought nothing about running such without conformation of truth.

-------------------------------------------------
Speaking of cartoons...one of best I've seen is this Non Sequitur submission:

Of course, it would work with the House and the White House as well.

Saturday, March 5, 2016

From the "in a nutshell" department - Online headline/story: "Former Democratic Sen. Jim Webb says he may vote for Trump over Clinton * "The reason Donald Trump is getting so much support right now is not because of the 'racists,' et cetera, et cetera," the former senator said, dismissing the problematic support Trump's getting from white supremacists like former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. "It's because a group of people are seeing him as the only one who has the courage to step forward and say we've got to clean out the stables of the American governmental system right now. We've got to make it work." * Still, "voting for Donald Trump, you might get something very good or very bad," Webb continued. "Voting for Hillary Clinton, you're going to get the same thing. Do you want the same thing?" --  "the only one who has the courage to step forward and say we've got to clean out the stables of the American governmental system right now"! Whether Webb does or does not vote for Clinton.. we won't know unless he takes a camera into the voting booth with him.. but just knowing there are Democrats who have stopped drinking Kool-AID is encouraging.

---
Cruz made a very impassioned speech in Maine, but popped his own bubble when claiming Trump would compromise with Democrats Schumer and Reid on a Supreme Court nominee. President's nomination is just the beginning if the process...the Senate has the power to actually seat the Supreme Court justices. A liberal judge is the failure of the Senators, not the president.

---
Cruz's inexperience as a Senator came through when he was talking about the Supreme Court nomination process. If the Republicans do not have enough Senators elected after the November elections, the Senators will have to compromise regardless if who the president is. Trump represents the best opportunity to elect/re-elect enough Republican Senators to bypass Democrat input.

---
Online headline: "Social media lights up during National Grammar Day" -- Oooops.. figured the DOE was thinking Hillary was making a campaign stop at FaceBook site. "LIKE" if you get it.

---
Six families of those killed during the San Bernadino terror attack have filed a suit against Apple to cooperate with the FBI..I hope they win.. getting into one phone is not going to make it a known hack for the rest of the world.

---
That knife us not OJ's.. what needs to be found is the suitcase one of the lawyers took from his house that no police officers examined.

---
Trump has decided to skip the C-PAC meet..I just wondered why he agreed to speak there to begin with as he's not going to solicit nor accept their money.. Wonder when CRuz and Rubio will realized they've been "one-upped" when Trump is in the primary states today pointing out where they are?

---
Hillary is running scared... she backtracked on skipping the Michigan Fox News Townhall meeting scheduled for Monday. I think she's realized not only can she not give Bernie 2 hours of talking more "free stuff" he can promise, but dodging the Fox questions would not wear well because of the immunity given to her server set-up techie.

---
From the "politicians making up their own rules to live by" department - Online headline/story: "Hillary Clinton has paid herself over $250,000 from campaign money since April 2015. *  The first transaction was for $74,042 on April 13, the same month she started her campaign, and the seven total payments since to Hillary have totaled $254,447, The Washington Free Beacon reports. A Federal Elections Commission rule change in 2002 allowed for candidates to pay themselves using campaign funds, however, this was allowed explicitly for candidates without means who quit their jobs to seek office. “The salary must not exceed the lesser of the minimum annual salary for the federal office sought or what the candidate received as earned income in the previous year,” according to the FEC. -- "A Federal Elections Commission rule change in 2002 allowed for candidates to pay themselves using campaign funds"? Good grief! How despicable.. how does a rule get pt in that literally allows donors to "hire" politicians? I sure hope that the IRS is pulling all politicians who have tapped into their campaign donations and used such for non-campaign personal expenses.. those funds need to be reported as taxable income.

---
Online story: "When more than 40,000 escaped slaves took refuge in Washington in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln sought to provide them with food, shelter and medical care. " -- Hmmm.. That's how Republicans differ from Democrats.. Lincoln helped because it was the right thing to do.. Democrats promise help in exchange for votes.

---
I'm not totally 'surprised', but am somewhat curious about the lack of publicity about the Cadillac PGA tournament is being played at the Trump Doral "Blue Monster" golf course. Hey, Romney.. is Doral a business failure of Trump's?  BTW.. great course!

---
Romney mimicking Rubio about 65% of Republicans want someone other than Trump is sort of a Kool-AID response. The reverse of that is that more than 80% want someone other than Rubio.. The truth is that st this moment, Trump is attracting the most supporters, and this is a purely a selection process that lets candidates listen to voters responses. Trump is exciting lifelong and new Republicans.

---
Did you see Juan Williams' "outfit" on Fox News yesterday AM?. It looked like he had a "metro-male" wardrobe malfunction/failure..

---
I may have to pull a "Trump", and be flexible on something..California may have Republican Congressman after all. Duncan Hunter, R-CA, ripped a Fox anchor a new one when she tried to get the Congressman to back away from his open support of Trump because of retired Gen Keane's difference of opinion about waterboarding terrorists.

---
Online story: "An Atlanta-based entertainment industry executive says at least one major feature film is prepared to shoot elsewhere if Georgia’s proposed Religious Freedom bill becomes law. *  Tolleson told WSB-TV he recently learned the openly gay director of a feature film that plans to shoot in Georgia later this year, is now considering shooting elsewhere if the bill becomes law. *  "Why would you want to support an economy that doesn't want you?" Tolleson asked." -- Hmmmm... "Why would you want to support an economy that doesn't want you"? -- Hmmm.. how about wanting to be a good example of addressing phobias?  Especially his own! Wanting more tolerance means you have to be more tolerant of others as well.

---
L-E headline: "AMC PLANS TO KEEP CARMIKE BRAND, NOT HEADQUARTERS  * Executive: ‘Considerable redundant’ back-office expenses will be eliminated" -- "redundant’ back-office expenses will be eliminated"? Hmmm... sorta a politically correct way to not tell people they've been fired... you know.. in spite of reading about our businesses that are closing, we seem to hear that unemployment is "down".. something doesn't "mesh"...

---
From the "I wish I could have been a fly on the wall" department: Yesterday AM.. our granddaughter took my bride to her school for "show 'n tell" day.. Each Friday, the students bring in something to show that begins with the "letter of the week". This week it was the letter "C". What better presentation could Sophia take in than her "CC". Original plans for the day were altered (what grandmother could say "no" to such an impassioned plea?), and she went down.. Her smile afterwards was still on her face when she went to bed

---
As if it was needed.. my brides name is Carol.. which also is a "C", but you have to listen to an "almost
4 year-old" pronounce it  to fully appreciate it.. Say "Carol"... now say it pronouncing it like "Karo" (as in Karo Syrup" but add an "L" to it.. I agree with Sophia...she's sweeter than syrup.

---

L-E headline/story: "Satellite data shows no pause in global warming * shows a slight warming of about 0.18 degrees Fahrenheit since 1998. Ground temperature measurements, which many scientists call more accurate, all show warming in the past 18 years." -- Good grief.. 0.18th of one degree.. in 18 years.. you know, unless the temperature was gleaned at the exact same time taking Leap Year's additional days and whether Daylight Saving Time was/wasn't in effect on those measurement days (remember, DSL is a variable now). 0.18th of one degree can happen if a bull releases methane into the air at a measurement time. Therefore.. we can make just as much claim that this report's findings are pretty much based on how much BS is in the air.

Friday, March 4, 2016

There was one decided "big loser" in last night's Republican debate... Fox News.. when you plan to ask inflammatory questions, you should have an empty chamber so the audience yahoos are not on "center stage".

---
I watched but 20 minutes or so of the debate before and wondered whether Rubio was applying or the role for Pee Wee Herman documentary,.. all he has up repertoire.

---
From the "suspicions confirmed" department - Online story: "Rubio has continually attacked Trump over the past week — calling him, for example, a "con artist" trying to "scam" voters." -- Hmmm.. considering that Trump is the only one of the candidates that has met a payroll with his money rather than "other people's money", it's more like all the candidates except Trump could be considered "con artist".. it's like Rubio is rehearsing for his shot at the Pee Wee Herman role... "I know you are, but what am I?"

---
Romney and friends have painted themselves into a corner. Once Rubio has eliminated himself, the RNC will only have Trump or Cruz to support..and will have to hope either will accept the endorsement.

---
Some "expert spinmeister" suggested that Romney was "keeping his foot in the door" if the convention became "brokered". Huh? "foot in the door"? It was more like sticking his foot in his mouth and gnawing it off!

---
The RNC gang doesn't realize what's to gain with standing strong against China et al on trade issues. What the RNC doesn't grasp is if import prices rise because of tariffs, the manufacturers will find it cheaper to make their goods here while providing good jobs for Americans.

---
You know, the last time the RNC and and Establishment candidates ganged up on a Washington, D.C. outsider it was Reagan.

---
I find it interesting that Romney would praise Reagan. The Republican Party did its best to stomp Reagan because Reagan was not in step with RINO policies..good grief the Republicans supported Gerald Ford!

What the hell was Romney thinking .. no .."feeling".. He excoriated Trump, yet had no one he would throw his weight behind. His saying to vote for Rubio in FL, Kasich in Ohio, and for whomever..whether it is Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, or a fencepost turtle if it will hurt Trump just despicable. The truth is, Romney endorsing Cruz or Rubio, or Kasich would not help any of them.

---
I tell you what, after two failed shots at the presidency, what right does Romney have to talk down to Trump? Romney praised Trump's 2012 endorsement, and now wants to bite him. If Clint Eastwood does another "empty chair" debate, the "empty chair" will have Romney's name on it.

---
If Romney had gone after NERO-bamageddon like he did Trump (only factually correct), Romney would be running as the incumbent seeking re-election.

--
Trump just "trumped" Romney.... basically he ignored Romney, but picked him apart a piece at a time. Romney is toast.

---
Tell you what, Romney's failure to actually endorse a specific candidate to support should have sent a shudder up Cruz's backbone, and Cruz should state he will fully support Trump if Trump gets the lion's share of delegates.

Tell you what, also, is that Rubio was the second biggest loser of Romney's tirade.. If the RNC's "point" was to promote Rubio, Romney should have endorsed Rubio..

---
Now that our military doesn't have GITMO to send captured terrorists , what's Obama's Plan B.... "catch and release"? Personally, I like another option.. take no prisoners!

Republican Foreign Policy "Experts" Say Trump unfit for president. .. Good grief, Hillary has nothing she can point to that she accomplished as Secretary of State, and these Foreign Policy Experts have less successes to point to than even Hillary.

---
Online story: "The key former State Department aide who helped set up and maintain former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s controversial email server has struck a deal with federal authorities in exchange for his cooperation in the investigation, and some are speculating this could be one of the last dominoes to fall in the lead-up to a Clinton indictment." -- This is huge.. "immunity" is dealt with very precisely and only by a judge that sees the value of the information BEFORE immunity is granted.

---
Online headline: "Trump: Romney was begging so much, I could've said: 'Mitt, drop to your knees...'" -- Did you have thoughts of Romney getting on his knees to beg? I did, but apparently the only thing that crossed Fox anchors/reporters' minds was an image of Monica and Slick Willie.

I wonder if Vanity Fair, presenter of Bruce Jenner as the "Woman of the Year", has thought about the repercussions in store for next year... if you were a real woman, would you want to follow and be compared  Bruce?

Online story: "Fox News Channel is staying put in Detroit. Just a few days after airing Thursday's GOP debate, the network will host Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for a Town Hall in the Michigan city. * The Town Hall will not include Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. " -- Do you blame her? The only question she'd be asked is "what did the guy given immunity know, and when did he know it?". Hmm..

---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " I have experienced the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and all that has followed. Never have I had as much fear for the future of my country as Trump has made me feel." -- Hmmm.. what we see here is a Democrat who has lost his/her "free Kool-AID" supply and reality has set in.. What/he/she meant is that "Never have I had as much fear for the future of my country as Trump has made me SEE."

---
Non-Christian liberal LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Columbus is finally creeping toward a positive cuisine direction offering unique eateries, but they must be open Sundays to flourish. Close Monday." -- Hmmm... must be a Bernie supporter.. and feels the Sunday meals will be free. Oh.. I guess Chick-fil-A can't be successful since it isn't open on Sundays nor does it serve alcohol.

---
L-E headline: "Romney, McCain: Trump a danger for America’s future" -- In retrospect, we really have to be glad that neither McCain nor Romney won.. the reality of them having won would be that there is no difference between them and Obama, Bernie or Hillary as well.

---
L-E headline/story: "JOBLESS RATE DIPS TO 5.4 PERCENT *  State has added more than 119,000 jobs over the past year; rate hasn’t been this low since February 2008  * With that, the state’s labor chief reported the jobless rate for Georgia in January was 5.4 percent, down from 5.5 percent in Decemberand compared to 6.3 percent in January a year ago" -- Word to the wise.. never accept at politicians evaluation of the unemployment figures for January.. The post seasonal jobs have not all been eliminated when polls are taken.

With "pab" stories about awards of excellence given to Carver High School last week, I sent a FOIA request to the MCSD's Spokesperson for the names of S.T.A.R. students representing Carver for this and last school year. I haven't heard back.. haven't even received an acknowledgement for that matter, so I've sent this e-mail request to Ms Fuller and copied the MCSB:

Ms. Fuller,
Last week I requested via the FOIA (Freedom o Information Act) for the names of the S.T.A.R. students representing Carver High School for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years.. I haven't heard back.. If there is a privacy issue (why since the names are published in the L-E), then confirmation and documentation that Carver did indeed have a student in the S.T.A.R. student/teacher selected.

Thanks,

Hal Kirven

Will let you know if this gets a response.

Online headline: "Ted Cruz hints for GOP rival to drop out of the race * After winning his home state of Texas on Tuesday night, Cruz made a plea to the Republican candidates -- and he seems to be speaking to one in particular now." --  " After winning his home state of Texas"?  Winning has a little more specificity to me than being the plurality vote getter in your own home state's primary.. Cruz made a solid showing but so did Trump.

---
I prefer Trump's ability to get things done. accomplished.. Cruz.. has good ideas and passion for certain, but not sure of his ability to get voters to the ballot box in November to win. not only the White House, but more importantly get large amounts of conservative independents out to get another 6 or so Republican Senators elected.

---
Online headline/story: "Trump releases healthcare proposals * U.S. Republican presidential front-runner candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday unveiled proposals for reforming U.S. healthcare that included repealing Obamacare, allowing prescription drugs to be imported, and turning the Medicaid program for the poor into block grants to states. * The plan also calls for the sale of health insurance plans across state lines, full deduction of health insurance premiums from income tax and adds: "We must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance." * Trump, who is the front-runner in the race to become the Republican nominee in November's presidential election, is also proposing allowing individuals to use Health Savings Accounts to pay for out-of-pocket expenses. Contributions to HSAs would be tax-free and could be passed on to heirs without any tax penalty. * The proposals include requiring "...price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure." --- Hmmm.. tell you what.. simplicity and common sense sounds good to me...Of course, insurance companies/hospitals probably won't like this... hey, that's a good thing..

She was confirmed to the post by the Senate on a 96-0 vote. *  Republican Senator Chuck Grassley said at the time that Kelly was "well regarded in my home state of Iowa" and that he was "pleased to support" her nomination." -- Hmm.. the "Game" is "ON"!  More about Judge Kelly.. a Harvard classmate of NERO-bamageddon.. less than 3 years as a judge on Court of Appeals, and the kicker.. was previously supported by Iowa Senator Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that would review any Supreme Court nomination. Yes, the "Game" is  "On'.

Online headline: "Fox: Republican Romney to make 'major speech' on 2016 presidential race" -- What.. now he wants to "man up"?  After bailing out in both 2008 and 2012..I'm not ready to put much stock in Romney's political prowess or impact..

Online headline: "Lawmaker: 2016 hopeful a 'monster' spawned by GOP * Minority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that Republicans have created a presidential candidate that could potentially destroy their party." -- Hmmm.. isn't that special.. Online headline/story: "David Axelrod: Georgia Voters Are Poor And Dumb, And That’s Why Trump Won * “When you look at the difference between these states, it really is a difference in income and education,” he continued. “Georgia has more of the downscale vote. Trump has done better there. Rubio has been trying to appeal to upscale, highly educated voters, such as those you find in northern Virginia. " -- Hmmm.. David Axelrod... Democratic Party strategist for Obamageddon, and director of the non-partisan Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago and is a Senior Political Commentator for CNN thinks Trump voters are dumb... God only knows what he thinks of Democratic Party voters...The Democrats are shaking now, as Trump has tapped into the Democrat political plan.. make the promises people want to hear, and worry about fulfilling them...or not... after the election.

That's the strongest Republican turnout I can remember in a long time..further good news is that local Republicans picked Trump the most, and that is very important, because it'll take Trump's energy to get these voters back to the polls in November to crush Democratic Mayor TomLYINGson's plot to end the  tax freeze!

---
Triple-double incredibly stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " My America is great now." -- God help us...

Yesterday I mentioned the nasty fence Mexico erected at its Guatamalan border.. here's a picture of one stretch:

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Yesterday, I posted the past primary(ies) for reference to compare to yesterday's results:

For those registered voters in AL. AR, CO, GA, MA, MN, OK, TN, TX, VA, and VT,,, make sure you VOTE today!  For the record, In 2008, 8,565,000 Democrats voted in their primaries in these states. For the Republicans, 4,740,000 voted in these states' 2008 primaries, and 4,780,000 voted in the 2012 ones. I'll compare this with today's numbers tomorrow.

Other than Trump scoring 7 state wins and 285 delegates, and Bernie winning FOUR states and basically splitting Massachusets, the significant numbers to focus on are the overall votes cast

I'm taking Colorado Democrats (121,000 votes) out of the total because the number of voters for the Republican figures won't be released until their convention.

After leveling the playing field:

Democrats cast 5,763,000 +/- votes for yesterday's primaries.. compared to their 2008  (basically no primaries in 2012 with incumbent president) figures of 8,445,000+/-, the Democrats had a drop of 2,682,000 votes cast.. That's a 32% drop, which indicates, that Democrats are not really excited about either of their two choice (I'm still looking for a Biden movement).

Republicans cast 8,874,000 +/- votes yesterday.. compared to the 2012 primaries totals of 4,740 +/-, that's an increase of 3,134,000 voters, almost an 88% INCREASE..and Trump had almost 3,000,000 votes himself, Trump brings "star" power ... and Hope for real CHANGE in November..

---
Being realistic.. the votes for Bernie are really anti-Hillary votes (well, who could blame them?) , and a lot of these voters won't show up in November.. at least not for Hillary.

---
Bernie won 4 states.. and nearly won Massachusetts.. none of the pundits gave Bernie a shot at anything but Vermont ... but Bernie won Oklahoma, Minnesota, and.. get this Colorado!

---
GA, TX, and VA numbers were impressive.. in 2008, the Democrats had 1,060,000 voters in GA.. this year, only 753,000 Dems went to the polls.. that's almost a 30% drop in interest.. but the Republican voters cast 1,290,000 votes compared to 901,000 in 2012, a whopping 43& jump!

In Texas, 1,422,000 Democrats voted compared to 2,875,000 in 2008.. a drop of 98% increase..more than 50%.. .. on the Republican side, 2,814,000 went to the polls compared to 1,449,000 in 2012... that, my friend is a whopping 98% INCREASE..

And VA,, in 2008, almost 1,000,000 voters went to the Democratic Party primary, but only 785,000 found their way there this year.. but again, it was the Republican Party that shined.. Over 1,000,000 cast ballots versus less than 500,000 in 2012..  Now, Rubio did well in the Northeastern area of VA (close to Wash., DC)
but that was predictable as that is a wealthy area where lobbyists and other political people congregate, and they were not going to mess with their paychecks.

---
One interesting Democratic Party primary fact is that only Colorado had more voters in 2016 than 2008. but it also had Bernie as an unexpected winner..and he garnered almost 60% of that vote.

---
Online story: " If you listen to furious Bernie Sanders die-hards, Bill Clinton is running around America waging a one-man war on our democracy. Mr. Clinton was out on the trail for his wife on Super Tuesday and caused an mini-uproar when he strayed too close to a polling station.  * Bill was alongside Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on Tuesday, greeting election workers and voters at the Holy Name Church, located in West Roxbury, Boston, according to MassLive. At the polling station (plus 4 others), Clinton reportedly spoke with voters, posed for photos, smooched an old woman and purchased a cup of coffee. When a woman asked for a photo inside the polling station, Clinton said, "As long as we're not violating any election laws." *  Massachusetts law prohibits vote solicitation within 150 feet of a polling station" -- Good grief.. both of the Clintons.. well for that matter, most all Democrats, are firm supporters of Machiavellia's  creed of "the end justifies the means.. and under any other circumstances, no Democrat would have uttered a word about this in Massachusetts.

Online headline: "Osama bin Laden left $29M in his will for 1 specific cause" -- Oooops, my bad.. it wasn't to the DNC...

I cannot believe that Apple won't send a techie to the FBI labs and do what's necessary to unlock the San Bernardino, CA terrorist's iPhone.. the answer does not need to be done through or on the I-net, and the "formula" does not have to be recorded. It's one phone.. one phone that belonged to a terrorist.. and one that din't live that far from Apple headquarters.. wonder if Apple would be so high & mighty if the killings had occurred in its headquarters.

---
Online story: "U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said on Tuesday that the Republican presidential nominee must reject any group "built on bigotry," an admonishment aimed at Donald Trump after the front-runner failed to disavow a white supremacist group in an interview." -- Wait a minute.. didm't we see a story yesterday that David Duke has denied he "endorsed" Trump? The RNC/establishment Republicans are doing more damage to the Republican future than even Trump or Cruz might correct! On the other hand, has anyone seen a Democrat who would reject a vote/endorsement from anyone in the New or OLD Black Panthers? How about convicted felons or illegal aliens?

Well, well, well.. NERO-bamageddon supporters Bill Gates amd Warren Buffey may change their minds after their accountants released the current figures about their wealth.. Gates lost $4.2 BILLION in 2015, and Buffett lost $11.9 BILLION

HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Obama Is Going To A Baseball Game: Rays vs. Cuba At Home * Obama is a Chicago White Sox fan, but presumably on this occasion he'll root for the Rays." -- Good grief.. NERO-bamageddon is most likely to wear the Cuban jersey....

You do know Mexico built a fence..a pretty nasty one at that, on its shared border with Guatamala....guess Mexico doesn't want illegal Guatemalans taking American jobs away from Mexican illegals.

Hillary says America "needs more love and kindness"....how's that working in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, St Louis, New York, Los Angeles, or New Orleans?

There's pretty disturbing story floating around about what Rubio has asked fellow competitors to start referring to Trump supporters as.. I'm going to search for more/better confirmation before addressing this.

I have an idea who's time has come...how about if police departments have a registration for individual homeowners and apartment complexes to sign up as go whether the police should respond to 911 calls. Should clear up any doubts in gang ruled neighborhoods as to whether the police will get cooperation or not.

Online story: "ATLANTA -- An Atlanta state senator says a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton at city hall Friday may have been "illegal."  Mayor Kasim Reed contends it was within legal and ethical bounds." -- Good grief.. is than anything more oxymoronic than a Democrat defining "ethical"?  Slick Willie thought his illegal presence too close to Boston polling places was "ethical" , and even here in Columbus, GA in 1990 and earlier. the former Superintendent use to vacate her office during "qualifying week" and let the local Democratic Party set up its qualifyng headquarters in her office without her even being there.  I am just assuming the practice is no longer happening. )=( of note - not carried in Columbus L-E)

Just an update: Following what I considered a "fluff piece" on Carver High's improvements, I requested from the MCSD, via the Freedom of Information Act, the names of recent Carver High School S.T.A.R. students. I haven't heard back from the MCSD's Ms. Fuller as yet..

---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " There is a plethora of political candidates today trying to arouse our fear of terrorism and the like. Trouble is, the candidates frighten me more than the terrorists." -- Obviously a Democratic Party elected official... but his/her fears should be about how voters are going to react at the polls to elect people interested in fighting terrorists.

Additional congratulations to the 10 semi-finalists in the MCSD "Teacher of the Year" competition.. Thanks to, to other 46 school nominees as well.

From the "what don't you understand about FORBIDS" department - Online headline/story: "US State Department releases final batch of Clinton emails  * Clinton, secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, has said her email arrangement broke no rules and that she will be vindicated. *  The government forbids sending or storing classified information outside secure, government-controlled channels. The FBI has taken the server and is investigating with U.S. Justice Department attorneys whether laws were broken through the unusual arrangement." --  "government forbids sending or storing classified information outside secure, government-controlled channels"? Hey, FBI,, whose definition of "FORBIDS" are you using.. Websters or the Clintons?

---
Online story: "Is Donald Trump suffering from a serious case of sleep deprivation?  * Timothy E*g*n, a New York Times columnist, says Trump's behavior on the campaign trail may be caused by extreme lack of sleep." -- Good grief... I don't recall seeing a "MD" after E*g*n's name, but if there is any "sleep deprivation", it's within the DNC and mainscream media worried about what's going to happen in November.

---
Online headline: "NY ruling gives Apple big boost in war over privacy * A federal judge said on Monday the tech giant does not have to help the FBI unlock a suspected drug dealer's phone." -- Excuse me.. but there is a lot of difference in a common criminal act and an act of terrorism.. GITMO was established to house war terrorists versus bringing them to our homeland.. there's that same difference in the government's "need" for info.

---
Online story: "John Cornyn, the Senate majority whip, the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. Senate said on Monday he was worried that Donald Trump could be an "albatross" for Republicans running in other races if he were to win the party's nomination for president, CNN reported." -- Good grief, of course Cornym is worried.. Cornyn is from Texas and worried about whether Cruz can get 50% of Texans votes, but more importantly, Cornun is worried he want have a plum job in the Senate beginning in 2016... so much that he's whining to CNN... can MSNBC be far behind?

This will come after the expiration of a 2-year agreement between Congress and the U.S. Postal Service to raise the price of stamps by 3 cents." -- Wait a minute,, I feel cheated.. I bought "Forever" stamps to hedge against additional increases, and now they are going to be devalued? I'm taking mine back in for a refund, and will rebuy them April 10th!

Yeah, the Secret Service ASSIGNED to Trump. Good grief, if one of the Secret Service Agents assigned to NERO-bammageddon had seen a photographer trying to get out of the assigned area for photographers, HuffPOOPOO would have declared such an agent as a hero.

---
Online headline/story: "'Would You Ever Have a Private Server?': Bret Grills Lynch on Hillary Email Case *
Would you ever have a private server? Fox News' Brett Baier asked.
"We use our DOJ servers here for emails," Attorney General Loretta Lynch said.
"So, you wouldn't have a private server at home?" he pressed.
"I don't comment on that," Lynch said. "I use the Department of Justice email system." --

Hmmm... "I don't comment on that"? I'd say that was a pretty obvious comment..

---
You know, the last time the RNC and and Establishment candidates ganged up on a leadership challenger, Ronald Reagan was the target.

---
Listening to the "experts", I honestly don't think they don't have a clue to what is going on. The "experts" seem to think Cruz/Rubio voters are interchangeable and all are against Trump..personally, I think if Cruz or Rubio dropped out, Trump would benefit most.

L-E headline: "Delta Data moving office to downtown Swift Mill" --Hmmm On February 20th, I posted the following item in my blog, as well as sent e-mails to Mayor TomLYINGson and Council concerning the Swift Mill property:

Hey, Mayor TomLYINGson...looking for more tax revenue? How about looking under your nose.. The old Swift Denim Mill... the one at 1506 6th Avenue... it's assessed at over $4.3 MILLION , no homestead exemption, but only pays $3979.30 in property taxes. That's less than 1/1088 of assessed value. If my home were taxed at that percent, my taxes would be only $319.00 instead of $5,196.92. I guess it's because we aren't buddies..

http://qpublic7.qpublic.net/ga_display_dw.php?county=ga_muscogee&KEY=017%20028%20005

Now we see it becoming the new home for Delta Data.. Don't tell me that the Swift Mill property was unimproved on January 1st of this year..

This nonprofit emergency financial assistance organization is dedicated to “Helping the Army Take Care of its Own.” Financial aid comes in many forms, including interest free loans, scholarships, food and necessary provisions, funeral expenses, emergency travel and more." -- Just popped the buttons off my shirt! George Smith Patton is part of my family tree!

A "really gets it... almost" L-E "soundoff": " I think Apple should unlock Hillary Clinton’s iPhone." -- Heh heh heh.. would probably be interesting, but I'll bet YouTube would rather gets it's hands on Slick Willies' iPhone.

Another "get's it" L-E "soundoff": "Chris Rock’s racial rant at the Oscars got old quickly, especially when he said “race shouldn’t matter.” Seems that was all that mattered." -- Hmmm .. based on what I heard in a couple of unavoidable news clips, I concur..
