From the "we gotta level the playing field to protect our police officers!" department - Online headline story: "Suspect in custody after standoff with Philadelphia police * Philadelphia police Sgt. Eric Gripp said early Thursday morning that the man was taken into custody after an hours long standoff with police. * Police implored the gunman to surrender, at one point patching in his lawyer on the phone with him to try to persuade him to give up, Ross said. * "We're doing everything within our power to get him to come out," Ross said during the standoff. "He has the highest assurance he's not going to be harmed when he comes out."" -- "assurance he's not going to be harmed"? Good grief! This is just as bad.. maybe worse.. than the police not shooting the El Paso nutcase because he laid down his rifle after killing 22 people! Instead of allowing the @-hole to shoot until he got tired ..or ran out of ammo... why not tell him that in 60-seconds, a grenade would be sent into the room he was in if he didn't walk out by then?

Idea: There's probably one already invented, but how difficult would it be to make a limited exploding grenade with barbed projectiles wired to a central core that would contain the projectiles to a room-sized limit?

After reading about al the civil unrest and shooting issue going on in South Bend , IN while Mayor Booty-gig is serving in absentia while campaigning for the DemocRATic Party nomination, I've come to this conclusion: Sounds like Mayor Booty-gig needs to go home and take care of South Bend's street crime/gun problems before he continues to try and solve other cities and national problems

From the "obviously she didn't read Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" classic" department - Online headline: "Pelosi knocks 'Moscow Mitch' for blocking bills" -- Queen PeLOUSY shoulda read Carnegie's book even if she didn't read the Obamacare bill before she voted on it..

It's sad to hear about the Columbus Water Works sitting on ready to shut off the water for the residents at the Ralston.. Surely there are options ..such as liens against rent receipts, but regardless, our Mayor is on the Water Board, and it will be the Water Board that will get the deserved criticism for shutting off senior citizens water during the heat of August.

Heard some parents complaining about their children having to ride two miles home on an unairconditioned bus. Hmmm.. hey, Mom-of-the-Year...NOT, drive to school and pick your child up!

Heh-heh-heh... Once again, art imitates life.. There is/was a portrait of Bill Clinton wearing a blue dress hanging in the NYC mansion of Jeffrey Epstein. Rumor has it that the album "Breakout" from Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, will be re-issued with a cover based on the painting and Bruce Springsteen with do guest vocals on "Devil With A Blue Dress On".

We may...or we may not..get to the bottom of the Clinton connection with Jeffrey Epstein, but words my late yellow dog DemocRAT Arkansas cousin uttered the day following the 1992 DemocRAT National Convention still haunt me..Cousin Dr Fred said, "I just sent a check to the re-elect Bush Campaign because we cannot wish the Clintons on the rest of America"

Online headline: "Council on American-Islamic Relations calls for removal of all Confederate symbols" -- Islamists are the same people that tore down and vandalized as many Christian symbols, buildings, and sites in the middle-East as they could find!

Have you wondered how scary it must be for any of the DemocRATic nominee wannabes to worry about getting the promises they made to get elected actually initiated?

Interesting.. most of us are familiar with Charles and John Wesley ..founders of the Methodist church... yesterday, I was reading a 1932 history of GA's Golden Isles and learned that though the Wesley's founded the Methodist church, neither ever left the Church of England.

Think about this.. NY Governor Cuomo is Fredo's brother...now is he "the smart one" or could he be the undocumented twin brother sharing the same DNA as Fredo?

Talk about "spin"', the DemocRAT spinmeisters are trying to justify the ICE buildings in San Antonio being shot up.. Juan Williams, Fox's primary resident leftist, said it was caused by the large number of illegal aliens being rounded up in Mississippi egged on by President Trump's rhetoric. NO Juan, the large number of illegal aliens arrested in Mississippi was caused by the large number of illegal aliens who crossed our border because we don't have an adequate wall.

Following skepticism by uniformed parents, I asked a MCSB member about something.. Well, it's official...just received confirmation that all middle and high school students in the MCSD system will be receiving Chromebooks in September. This makes all arguments for students having smartphones or iPhones in order to do lesson research moot. Now, think of all the money taxpayers will save when schools make all students check their cellphones at the door so they won't be running up electricity costs by recharging their personal phones on taxpayers' dollars.

From a conversation yesterday: "Let's talk about the effect of 1,300 Columbus High School students' body heat on a HVAC system..I'm going talk about winter time even though the local conversation is about our schools in August..At our downtown store (Kirvens) during the coldest winter months. At 6:00 AM, a crew would come in to clean and get the store ready to open. Heat thermostats were raised to 70 degrees, and at 9:00, when office employees started coming in, the heat blowers were aimed at the employee entrance to keep colder air being let in from outside. At 9:50, the heat blowers at the customer entrances were cut on..for the same reasons. When the customer doors were opened at 10:00, then the HVAC system was switched to cooling. Once customers started streaming in, their body heat would raise the temperature , and customers want to be comfortable when they shop. In addition, during the year, when we were closed on Sundays, the A/C stayed on to keep the air comfortable for Monday until the 6:00 AM crew came in. Never would allowing the temperature rise to 85 degrees be acceptable.

Joke of the day: Wow! DemocRAT candidates are complaining about media bias..They are claiming that MSM-13 is not reporting their programs correctly..Hmm..maybe if the DemocRATs had objected to how MSM-13 and the DemocRAT Leaders have lied about President Trump's issues and results, MSM-13 might be more interested in getting the real truth out.

Online headline: "CNN's Don Lemon accused of assault in sexually charged encounter at New York bar" -- DANG!..First Miley and now Don cheating on their husbands in public!.. Talk about the leftists lack of a moral compass!

Online headline: "ICE offices, workers hit by wave of violence and threats: ‘We know where all your children live’ -- FINISH THAT WALL!

Remember when the FCC/FDA got together and banned the use of cartoon characters...Joe Camel and Fred Flintstone come immediately to mind, to advertise cigarettes?.....w\Well how come Chantix..a drug that you take as a quit smoking aid.. can use a cartoon 'turkey' ' which is occasionally shown extinguishing a cigarette to push its product.. is allowed to use a cartoon turkey?

Let's really talk about the threat of voter fraud... You know, if DemocRATs were really interested in eliminating voter fraud, they would be 'FOR' the border wall AND voter ID.

Online headline: "Georgia Has Among Highest Hospital Prices, New Review Suggests" -- I believe it!Back in April, I had two severe (gushing) nose bleeds during the night.. we went to the ER's at Piedmont's Columbus Northside once and the ER Dr said that they weren't equipped to do any kind of cauterization.. By then, (20 minutes later) constant pressure finally brought he "gusher" to a stop. It happened again 6 nights later.. this time we drove all the way to Piedmont's Columbus Midtown..this time, we waited more, and by time the ER Dr came to my room, it was stopped, so actually he didn't even examine my nose.. we just talked a couple of minutes about medicines I was taking. I have received 4 different bills for those two visits.. two for ER services and two for ER Doctor's services (one for nearly $800.00, and one at OVER $1,800.00). All are from 4 different billing services.. no wonder Medicare can get ripped off so easily.. In fact the bill for the ER doctor on the first visit was "double billed" by different billing services. In fact, billed at two slightly different amounts ($790.00 & $787.25) to Medicare and to me for co-pays. Am going to take them in to be explained..

From the "great local history" department - M/C L-E headline: "Hidden Aflac house sits empty" -- This reminds me of a story I had with John Amos a year or so after he built his roof top home.. we were at a charitable function, and I casually mentioned his was the SECOND such rooftop home built in Columbus.. That caught his attention fast. In 1953, Kirven's built a prefab home on it's rooftop.. Materials were craned up and assembled there.. then after it was finished, then sold, it was craned down to a house moving trailer and hauled out.. He got a big chuckle out of this.
