It really embarrasses.. even HURTS.. the City of Columbus when the politicos go outside of the City to bring in outsiders to run our major service areas versus promoting from within...We've had decades of such from our elected School Boards, and recently with our Chamber of Commerce... and now the Columbus Mayor has gone outside to pick a new candidate for the Columbus,GA Fire and EMS Chief, and now has indicated he's going to replace our beloved Chief of Police (who's retiring) with another outside choice, there's but one other move the Mayor can make that would make up with the taxpayers of Columbus.. replace the City Manager... Anybody seen any happenings with the Statue of Christopher Columbus down on the RiverWalk? Of course, it may have escaped scrutiny due to all the parrots hanging out there. Some may feel it's more of a Parrothead's tribute to Jimmy Buffet.
