Yesterday, I posted a soliloquy from "Bones", a TV how I've always enjoyed... I'm re-posting it today as a thought to remember as we celebrate the birth... not the death... of our country:
"If I've learned anything, it's that we can never let the chaos and injustice make us so blind with anger that we become part of the problem. Understanding, compassion, kindness are the only true revolutionary ideas. When we compromise those, we become what we despise and we lose our humanity. The world might see my legacy of one of violence and destruction, but I know that you are my real legacy and for that – I will be thankful everyday."

This is an important issue for Columbus, GA to remember. As it stands, one person.. Elaine Gillespie.... who finished LAST in a 3-way race to fill a Columbus, GA City Council seat, but was bumped up when the 2nd place candidate graciously withdrew feeling that the taxpayers having to spend $50,000.00 on a runoff election for a position that has a 4.5 month duration and a total salary for that period of about $6,000.00 was not in Columbus' best interest. Elaine Gillespie.. why is this waste of tax dollars so important to you? Go away... graciously.. come back in 4 years if you feel you have more or important to say.

Online headline: "NFL to play Black national anthem before Week 1 games" -- Good grief! and it'll be played BEFORE the National Anthem of ALL Americans.. guess viewers and fans /players in attendance will be glad there are no Canadian "nfl" teams to make the playing of 3 anthems necessary... I tell you what, though, there should be no players kneeling at all for either anthem. Let's pray that only the ONE flag that protects.. represents.. us all will be raised...

I tell you what.. the next time there are riots, looting. or just gang gatherings going on in our inner cities, maybe the police should play "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing" over their police car speaker systems, and see if the perpetrators will stop what they are doing and stand quietly at attention.

Former DNC head Donna Brazile must have multiple sets of teeth! She made the biggest lie I've ever heard her make. After the latest jobs numbers were released, she was asked if the Socialist-Democrats wanted the full and robust economy to return prior to the election.. Of course, she said, "Yeeessss"..of course we do..." I felt I needed to duck her teeth exploding out of her mouth!

Man! Talk about backing oneself into a Corner! In tennis, this would be described as an "Unforced Error". Winn-DIXIE is feeling overly Politically Correct...and wants to change it's name from Winn-DIXIE to ANYTHING else.. Not a shopper there myself, but do have some possibilities.. Since you shop for groceries, and it's up to you to "pick" items out, how about "Winn-Picket"? Hmmm..on second thought ..that sorta sounds like the Confederate General...you know as in Pickett's Charge...back to the drawing board....hmmm.. nope, that idea wouldn't work..hmmm... neither will this one. Hey... Wait, I've got the perfect name...since no one will win, how about changing it's name to... drum roll...."LOSERS"
