What a display of fireworks last night! When the show ended, I told my bride I wished foe a moment I was watching CNN or MSNBC... or had been a fly on the wall at Queen Pelosi's or JoKKKe Biden's! I can imagine the "fireworks" in those studios being even louder as "T R U M P......2 0 2 0" lit up the skies over Washington, DC.. Had to highlight this.. Online headline: "The Most Eco-Friendly And Cleanest Cities In The World, Ranked" -- Wow! 6 American cities were included in the list of 25.. Shicago - 19th, Los Angeles - 18th, Houston - 17th, Philadelphia - 16th, Phoenix - 15th, and New York City - 3rd! I've been to all of these US cities except Phoenix. and believe me, none of he 5 I've been to would make MY list of "Eco-Friendly and Cleanest Cities". In fact.. NYC was a frequent destination in my business life.. In fact, I was generally ready to leave it the moment I got on the plane and was HEADED FOR IT! In fact, the first thing I'd do on the Monday morning check-in with our Buying Office was to look at my initial appointment schedule and call them to see where I could rearrange them so I could actually get out of NYC on Thursday rather than Friday. Additionally, I loved watching a new assistant or buyer preparing or his/her first NY Buying Trip.. all the week before, they would anxiously buy a new outfit or two that would shine as bright as their eyes about hitting the streets of NYC on Monday AM and "fit in" with the perceived "glitz and glamour" they imagined it would be.. It was almost amusing to watch their smiles dissipated as they left the hotel lobby on their first day.. it was even sadder to see them "rubber-necking" at all the unexpected visuals on their walk up the street to the Buying Office.. filthy walls and streets, cartoonish wardrobes. and the ever-present drunkard from the night before, still sleep inside a doorway alcove. It was usually a very sobering walk for our newest personnel..NYC was not the vision they found after expecting the Hollywood version.. I also doubt if any of the 5 cities I've experienced allowed the "raters" to venture within 6 blocks of the inner city low-income housing areas...and even though we only get once-a-week-garbage-pick-ups now, give me Columbus, GA any day!

After 3 months of violent rioting and looting, Portland's Mayor Wheeler is out pleading to the citizens to stand with him to stop the violence as "enough us enough". Good grief! Seriously...did the Mayor forget that HE'S the one who has had total command of the Portland Police Department and asking for National Guard for extra help! All I can think of is that Mayor Wheeler is seeing his re-election campaign flushed down the tubes!
