We live nearby, so we've watched eagerly as the new Veterans Clinic at River & Mobley Roads has gone up. It was scheduled to open in Feb of 2022. It looked ready in December of 2021.. but we are in MARCH of 2022, and it has not opened. Even though it's obviously in Georgia, the sign claims it's part of the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System.. and even though it's not in his District, Congressman Bishop sure has tried to take a lot of credit for this that Congressman Ferguson should be credited with.

Who knows what a 5 year old will want at age 18.. when I was 5/6, I wanted to be a cowboy.. Howdy Doody.. a spaceman.. and by the age of 8, I wanted to be a left-handed baseball player like Ted Williams and a basketball player like Bob Cousy.. and when I was 12, I wanted to be 7-feet tall.. fortunately, neither of my parents wanted to mold me into what they wanted me to be for themselves! And as Popeye the Sailor man would say, "“I am what I am, and that's all that I am.”. And my parents were proud of me for that..

I've asked Council many times in the past that not only do we need an easy access report site of homicides to keep us informed, but I've also asked for an up-to-date list of shootings, whether they have fatalities or not, and the following link justifies such a report. I got my weekly 3rd party E-mail report of crimes in the previous week and found 2 different shooting reports had been filed within a couple of miles of our home. It looks like as bad as we think it is, the number of shootings is a lot worse than we thought.

Will someone on Council please explain the difference between, according to Miriam-Webster Dictionary, is "Murder is the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse, especially the unlawful killing of another human with malice aforethought." and "Homicide is a killing of one human being by another". The reason I ask is it looks like the City has two sets of "books" it's using when talking about the 54% RISE in "homicides" in 2021. One report says we had 71 "homicides" (but not counting 4 or 5 'vehicular homicides") in 2021, and a CPD report saying we j=had 63 "murders" but nothing about 8 other "deaths by humans" nor the "so-mentioned "vehicular ones".. Hey, WTVM.. this is probably a good question to ask in your "Mayoral Debate" scheduled for Tuesday night.
