Jen Psaki says the White House position on Stinger & Javelin missiles vs MIG jets is that the missiles are defensive weapons and the MIGs are offensive... To me, that opinion is more OFFENSIVE than supporting Poland providing those MIG jets. It seems obvious to me that Ukraine would use the MIGs in a defensive manner just as they will use the missiles.
