Have you noticed that you never hear TV Announcers mention the U of Mississippi mascot? It was once "Rebels", and had been for decades until the student body voted to change  to U of M Black Bears and eliminate "the Colonel" from the sidelines, too. That wasn't popular so a new vote was taken, and a new mascot was picked.. the LANDSHARKS.. Now, announcers only mention or refer to them as "Ole Miss".. and U of Mississippi has no mascot on the sidelines...or t-shirt symbol.

I saw Mal Waldrep, Jr, on the sideline at the Rose Bowl.. He's a freshman offensive lineman at Alabama. I was friends with his grandfather/grandmother, and his Dad, Aunt Amy and Uncle.Morgan. In fact, I coached his uncle for 4 years in Little League. Mal, Jr outgrew them all.. 6'5" and 324 lbs.... great kid... great family!
