From the " when Trump wins, America and the world win" department - Online story: "President Donald Trump on Thursday expressed a willingness to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by May in response to Kim's invitation to hold the first meeting between leaders of the United States and North Korea, a South Korean envoy said. * Kim has committed to "denuclearization" and to suspending nuclear or missile tests" -- Hmmm... this is what happens when you apply the principles of "the Art of the Deal" rather than the art of the "squeal".
---
From the "education has lost" department: Online headline/story: "Kenny Smith blasts 'predatorial' NCAA: 'Men preying on 17-year-olds' * There has been no dearth of outcry against the NCAA recently with athletes and media alike criticizing the billion-dollar organization for its practice of profiting off of unpaid athletes. * He spoke at the NCAA Tournament media day and blasted the “predatorial” practice of the NCAA’s pursuit of young athletes. * “The rules are creating the predatorial environment,” Smith told reporters. “If that was anything other than sport, if it was, people would have been locked up. But because it’s sport, it took them, it’s taking longer. If it was anything other than sport, where 50-year-old men were preying on 17-year-olds — come on.” -- "come on"? Really, Kenny Smith... the NCAA sets rules to protect teens BECAUSE of coaches, agents and boosters who REALLY DO prey on the potential abilities of teens.. Without the NCAA, most players who do get scholarships to get an education... wouldn't get the opportunity.
Hey, Kenny Smith.. you are your own worst example.. you can't play pro-basketball anymore, and without the NCAA, you wouldn't even have the job you have right now!

There's a new "list" out... Worst Companies to Work For"...it's bogus... no list of "Worst Companies" could be legit if Congresspersons"working" for Pelosi and Schumer was not included.
https://247wallst.com/special-report/2017/06/05/the-worst-companies-to-work-for-3/5/
---
Anybody know how many people are employed by the MCSD in their "Security Department"? I remember a number from several years ago hat I thought was outrageous in that it seemed a better choice would have been to work closer with the Columbus Police Department, and have a budget for video alarm systems.
---
From the "wonder if this will go into his gun background check data" department - Online headline: "Accused cop killer asks judge if he could request death penalty" -- Hope the judge said.."you drive a hard bargain, but we will grant your wish... today... next case!"... before... BEFORE libs/mainscream media complain he's obviously mentally ill...
---
Here's another list..Columbus didn't "make it" ...but it is a list that stops at the 39 cities rated with the worst poverty rates in the country.. While Columbus didn't make, two of Congressman Bishops District 2 "towns" did,, Macon and Albany.. in fact both were in the bottom 20.. Macon, number 20, and Albany down at number 7. Hey, Macon.. hey Albany.. you have another opportunity to "change your stars"...but you have to stop drinking the DIMocrat Kool-Aid between now and November!
Hey, Columbus.. help Macon and Albany BEFORE we join them.
---
There is a study out showing more elderly parents are now living with their kids... obviously a millennial poll, and aimed at not mentioning it's probably because they moved back into there parents homes
---
Remember " E = mc2"? Well, there was another "formula" more valuable than Einstein's that DIMocrats have worked hard NOT to talk about being taught in schools.." “The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds.”― Albert Schweitzer" -- Well.. it does work both ways, too.. hopefully Trump's successes as a leader will impact students who graduated from the "Common CRAP" curriculum not knowing that they are capable to succeed without a government nanny involved in their everyday life.

L-E headline/story: "Columbus physicians writing too many opioid prescriptions — so city is suing drug companies * Last week, Columbus Council voted to hire a group of attorneys to go after manufacturers and distributors of opioid prescription drugs flooding the local market — much like municipalities went after Tobacco companies in previous years. * The lead lawyers on the case are DuBose Porter of Dublin, Ga., and Mike Fuller out of Hattiesburg, Miss. * handled a recent case where a man had 27 different medications. Four of them were opioids — one of them a huge bottle of liquid Oxycodone * The other was a huge bottle of 90 Oxycodone tablets." -- Oh no! Sounds like another Mayor Tom-LYING-son attempt (like with the Expedia suit years ago) to make Columbus the pariah of another industry.. When a person has excess opioids, the villain is probably the prescriber, and that's who needs to be shut down...Even more disturbing, is our leaders coat-tailing a lawsuit with out-of-town/state lawyers, and the results will be that the lawyers get richer, and patients who need minimum doses of opioid painkillers will have a harder time, and pay a lot more, getting them.
"Accidental Overdoses"... how many resorted in a death? Shouldn't deaths be considered a "homicide"? How many did we have that weren't counted in the already horrific number he had last year and are beginning 2018 with?
---
Mueller really IS on a witch hunt..This Seychelles thing takes the cake.. When this is supposed to have happened was AFTER the election, and if the Russians had worked with Trump to get him elected, why would either Trump or the Russians NEED to establish a back door access?
---
Online "headLIE" : New York Times issues correction after botching story attacking Trump’s tax plan" -- WRONG! Should have read, "Embarrassing New York Times issues correction after botching story attacking Trump’s tax plan". Oh, remember when the NYT's motto was "All the news that's fit to print".. unfortunately, the NYT still uses and believes that.
---
From the "things must be tough all over... in LaLaLand" department - Online headline: "Disney boss tells shareholders that ‘The View’ star Joy Behar apologized for anti-Christian remarks" -- Good grief.. Disney usually flaunts it's anti-Christ love affair.. I can only guess that summer vacation reservations are down...
---
Though it won't get much play in Columbus, Columbus's own Josh McKoon qualified this week for the GA Secretary of State nomination. Regardless of your party affiliations, Columbus really will benefit if we get one of our own elected to a state-wide office of this importance. Vote and support Josh McKoon.
---
Online headline/story: "Georgia House panel advances budget with funds for school security * Georgia legislative leaders are proposing funding $16 million in grants to local districts to beef up security following last month’s massacre at a Florida school." -=- Hmmm.. Let's parse a bit.. GA has 1.75 million students in its public schools... The GA Legislature is "throwing" about $9.14 per student into it's "beefed up" security plan.. guess it would pay for some sort of slingshot for each student to carry...
---
You know. Maybe we should be encouraging Mayor Tom-LYING-son to run....how about running for the border! Did you see the new numbers on the California bullet rail project.. Now up to over $10 BILLION...and that won't be enough to get up and running ..and it's not much longer than the Mayor's folly to Atlanta...and not the first rail has been laid.
---
Did you hear the Trump meeting broadcast yesterday? How about the information and figures Trump gave us on the economy, the UN, jobs...I tell you what, if you missed it, you won't hear about them in your mainscream media ramblings.
---
Online headline/story: "Army sets sights on new sniper rifle * Russian-made advanced armor increasingly protects U.S. adversaries. In war zones, U.S. boots on the ground have had to contend with terrorist group ISIS protected by armor — and by ever stronger armor. * U.S. soldiers need a sniper rifle that they can always rely on to penetrate these types of strong armor and stop the threat. * Once the Army announced that it was on the hunt for an upgrade, there was an intense competition to become the new sniper rifle. * the Army selected Heckler & Koch’s 7.62mm rifle based on their G28, with specific modifications tailored to meet the military’s requirements." -- Wow.. and we have a Heckler & Koch manufacturing plant right here in Columbus, GA home of Ft Benning and the Sniper School! Cool!
---
From the "pot calling the kettle" department - L-E headline/story: "Question about candidate’s $165,000 contract with MCSD stirs board race * The Muscogee County School Board candidate who had to resign his part-time job with the school district to get on the ballot wants the same reasoning applied to his opponent. * Mike Edmondson, a retired educator and the 1990 Teacher of the Year in the Muscogee County School District, wonders why John “Bart” Steed was allowed to qualify while his company, Kar-Tunes Car Stereo, has a contract worth an estimated $165,000 to service the heating, ventilation and air conditioning on MCSD buses. * The law seems to allow this disparity." -- Hmm.. you know, it use to be.. back in the days of Grand Jury APPOINTED School Boards, that board members could not do business with the school system.. I see complexity in both candidates.. did Mike Edmondson get hired by the MCSD to quiet his efforts to get the old Bibb School renovated from the disastrous condition the MCSD had allowed it to become, and why does the MCSD give "open ended" maintenance contracts.. If contracts for services that were not specifically bid on continue, wouldn't it make sure the contractor billed for ALL of the money in the contract regardless of the amount of services provided? You know, there's still today for John Thomas to reconsider his reluctance to run for re-election..
---
L-E headline: "‘Change of heart’: Myers to seek re-election" -- Now if only John Thomas will reconsider...too!
---
Ah! I see we have another qualifier for a MCSB position...now all 5 positions up for election will give people a choice.. Welcome Anthony McCool.. candidate for the At-Large post.
---
L-E headline/story: "Academy Sports accepting job applications for new store * Construction on the Academy Sports and Outdoors store in Columbus is picking up steam, with the retail project having reached a couple of major milestones, including the launch of the hiring process. Crews on Thursday were busy working on the outer shell of the 64,266-square-foot structure at 6700 Whittlesey Blvd., which is in the Columbus Park Crossing development, adjacent to North Highland Church. Construction is costing $7,525,548, according to city building permits." -- Hmmm... $7,525,548.00 for 64,266 sq ft of building... that's t=right at $117.00 a square foot.. hmmm... why does it cost the MCSD $750,000.00 for a 2,400 sq ft metal-on-slab wrestling room... that's about $312.00 a square foot.
---
L-E headline/story: "DOT board member weighs in on new intersection design * The new road design at Jenkins and Macon Road was a quick response by the Georgia Department of Transportation to save lives in the intersection entering Ridgewood Estates, a DOT board member said Wednesday. * transportation officials don’t have to go through the lengthy process when a project is less than $200,000. * While many residents weren’t notified of changes before Feb. 22, Wellborn said, “they had some community interaction but in all honesty, they probably didn’t have enough.” * In one of the first designs in Muscogee County, the R-cut in Upatoi reduces crashes at the intersection and makes the roads safer. There may be more like it in the county if it proves to be a lifesaver." -- "if it proves to be a lifesaver"? And what happens if it doesn't PROVE to be a LIFESAVER? I can already see how residents with farm/horse trailers are going to be a disaster waiting to happen if they need to go "left" (or simply want to cross the intersection) when they leave their neighborhoods and have to maneuver those trailers through a u-turn into 65-70 MPH traffic.
---
L-E headline: "Gosha gets 30 years for tax fraud, must repay $9 million" -- And let's add.. "and before he's released from jail" to his sentence to repay.
---
Not going to post the picture, but the L-E has a story on the protest by women in Pakistan holding up a sign "Stop the Killing".... in ENGLISH! You have to wonder if the woman holding it knew what it read.

---
Is it just me, but have you noticed that there haven't been any "Together 2017" ads in the L-e in a few days.. at least I haven't noticed them (though I was out-of-town for several days). What I have noticed are TV ads by Columbus 2025.. and admit they are a lot better at promoting the future for Columbus than any of the wrong year dated L-E ads.

You know.. the Parkland,FL High School shooting (_@_)'s demeanor in prison is being described as "disturbing".. How much has that cost US for doctors and lawyers? I pretty well knew that from what he did before being incarcerated.. Too bad school and local officials who also KNEW this didn't stop him BEFORE his actions.
---
Did you miss it yesterday? You know, the "sound of mainscream media silence" over the Texas election results... The only thing the party of "BLUE" did was "BLEW" time and money.
---
Online confirmation story: "In the Republican Primary of 2018, Senator Cruz received 1,317,450 votes in a race with four challengers. * Figures from the Secretary of State’s office show that just over one million voters turned out in the Democratic Primary in general across Texas. Cruz alone exceeded the entire Democratic voter turnout by nearly 300,000 votes." -- The mainscream media silence is deafening...
---
Looks like the DIMocrats are abandoning 7 term Illinois District 3 Congressman Dan Lipinski.. seems the "party" doesn't feel Lipinski is sufficiently "left enough" for re-election during the DIMocrat primary and is looking close at one of his competitors. Guess the DCC feels just sitting calmly in your seat during Trump's SOTU speech when Trump praised our military is too centrist to qualify for the DIMocrat endorsement.
---
George W. Bush was trying to claim that Trump makes his term in the White House look good.. Hey, "W"...how can you think your term of office was "good".. you created Nancy Pelosi's legacy with resounding Congressional losses in 2006, and paved the way for Obama to win in 2008.
---
Looks like there's at least one.. and only one, Bush family member that "get's it".. It's another "George Bush", but this one is George P. Bush, son of Jeb.. he won the Republican primary for Texas land commissioner on Tuesday after touting his continued support of President Donald Trump. He also endorsed Trump in 2016.
---
Online headline/story: "The White House just hinted 2 of America's biggest allies could be spared from Trump's massive new tariffs * The tariffs, which act as a tax on imports, are set to be enacted using a little-used provision of trade law that allows the president to act to curtail imports of a good on national security grounds. * "There are potential carve outs for Mexico and Canada based on national security and possibly other countries as well based on that process," Sarah Sanders told reporters Wednesday. * "That would be a case-by-case and country-by-country basis, but it would be determined whether or not there would be a national security exemption," Sanders said." -- You know... what is an "ally"? To me it's someone who "has your back"; "stands loyally in there with you regardless"; "answers your phone calls at all hours". How does Mexico fit in this mold?.. It doesn't.. It didn't during WWII. it didn't during the Cuban Crisis or Russian Cold War, and it surely hasn't in keeping drugs or it's citizens from coming into America illegally. Hey, Mexico...Build that WALL... with your money and your steel, and on your land... then come back to the table.
---
Online headline/story: "McDonald's is flipping its iconic arches upside down in an unprecedented statement * People driving by a McDonald's location in Lynwood, California, might be baffled by a sign that has been turned upside down. The golden arches, typically standing as a proud "M," have been flipped over to serve as a "W." -- Good grief.. You know, when a flag is flown "upside down", it's a sign of distress... or surrender... Sounds like McDonald's is suffering both.. what a weak excuse.. "W" for Women" on one day.... McDonald's should go back to the time when every Mom knew the "M" honored MOTHERS.. especially Mothers of small children.. and EVERY day!
---
What's with the "David Dennison" name some porn star is using as a pseudonym for Trump? Even if her other claims are "true", why would he use a pseudonym... would he think that there was ANYONE who wouldn't recognize him for who he was/is? If anything, her using "David Dennison" in a suit, just gives mainscream media something to gnaw on while she is "protected" from a retaliatory suit based on her slanderous and libelous claims.
---
You know, it's no surprise that the CNN anchors are obsessed with a possible Trump affair. Who among them has a clue at what men see in women, and women see in men.
---
Say what you will. but Peyton Manning selling off his 31 Papa Johns in the Denver area two days before the NFL announced that Pizza Hut would take over as the "Official Pizza of the NFL" sounds a bit like "insider knowledge". Too bad.. Hey, Peyton.. I just added Papa Johns phone number BACK to my speed dial lineup.
---
In a weird way, I've always like actor Steve Busemi.. he had a way of gaining sympathy from the audience.. Now I like him even better for his real life character.. He was a fireman before "fame" set in, but during the 9-11-01 turmoil, he returned to active duty as a fireman to help out.
---
Online headline/story: "Roy Moore accuser Deborah Gibson leaves GOP, launches bid for office as Democrat * A former Republican who spoke out against failed Senate candidate Roy Moore announced her plans to run for the Florida House as a Democrat. * “I am proudly running as a Democrat,” she added, before pledging her support for gun law reform, education, single-payer healthcare, and protections for dreamers." -- Something about "proudly running as a Democrat" sound suspiciously like mainscream media brainwashing.. with Kool-Aid.. The truth is that the Republican Party wouldn't support her even if she was running against Hellary for a job as "hog castrator".
---
Once again.. partly as a reminder of the false jubilance DIMocrats felt about winning a senate seat in Alabama certainly didn't catapult DIMocrats in Texas to new heights, we mist not forget that in Alabama, the DIMocrat candidate in the special Senate election won only ONE Congressional District there..but by an overwhelming percent.. enough to really question the validity of those who cast cast votes. And how DIMocrats spent over $30,000,000.00 in outside donations to win the GA District 6 special election to replace Dr Tom Price, but lost by even a larger percentage than anybody projected the day before the election.
---
You know, Uptown Columbus's director wanting to make public drinking a daily reality would increase under-aged drinking to record numbers...how easy will it be for a 21+er to buy a beer in a marked cup and give the empty cup to an under-aged friend who probably won't be challenged by the bar that originally dispensed it when presented for a refill.
---
It's alarming that the Uptown Director asserts a new law governing daily public drinking could get passed in the next week or so.. We need a law that prohibits new laws form being passed in Columbus once the qualifying period starts and the new Council/Mayor officially take office for the new term. Too much pressure can be exerted on a candidate to get support (or condemnation) by people with special interests.
While on the subject of local elections, we definitely need to get ours moved from party primary dates to the General Election date in November.. in fact, we also need any local referendums to also be contained to only the General Election date.
---
News Flash: The Conservatives swept the Italian elections..the losers blamed it on the Russians.. anyone surprised?
---
Leave it to our School Administration to mangle it's leadership of students.. Now the MCSD has sent out a message to all (assumedly) parents about an alternative "activity" scheduled for March 14th during a "national" protest event. First, the "national" event is a farce.. it's a political move orchestrated by adults using children as their foil.. The MCSD is correct in blocking any local participation., but to schedule an alternative event is not leadership... To make matters worse, the MCSD leaves it up to the parents to "opt out" for their children.. how embarrassing for kids.. either way...

L-E headline: "TSYS employee arrested at work after helping 2 inmates escape from jail, officials say" -- I wanna know one thing.. did she have access to my credit/financial information while she was employed at TSYS... and what TSYS is doing about it..

From the "it's about time" department - Online headline/story: "Trump's Justice Department sues California over immigration enforcement * The lawsuit, which also names Gov. Jerry Brown and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, challenges three recently passed state laws that the Trump administration says hinder enforcement of federal immigration law and endanger federal agents. * "The Department of Justice and the Trump administration are going to fight these unjust, unfair, and unconstitutional policies that have been imposed on you," U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in remarks prepared for delivery to a law enforcement convention. * The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the state capital of Sacramento, challenges three specific laws:
— SB 54, which restricts law enforcement officials from notifying federal immigration agents about the release dates for prisoners in their custody who have been convicted and therefore face deportation. It also prohibits local officials from transferring those prisoners to federal custody
— AB 450, which forbids private employers from cooperating with immigration agents who conduct worksite enforcement operations. The law also requires employers to tell their workers when federal agents are coming to conduct inspections.
— And AB 103, which requires the state to inspect detention facilities where federal authorities are holding immigrants who face deportation."" --
Good grief! It's about time Jeff Sessions took back his office.
---
From the "and what did libs expect?" department - Online story: "Sales of assault-style rifles are surging in the aftermath of the school shooting that killed 17 students and staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14. * Criminal background checks for gun sales — a key metric for estimating the demand for guns — rose 3.5% in Florida in the month of February, compared to the previous year, Bloomberg reports. * Background checks for long guns, which includes assault-style rifles like the one used in the Parkland school shooting, surged 12.6% in the state. Nationwide, that metric rose 3%." -- Sales AND background checks rose... Hmmm.. guess the sales tic was by those concerned over future politics.. and I'm gonna take a wild guess that the background check increase applicants were bolstered by a lot who wouldn't pass if new laws allowing their psychological profiles be reported to the fed database.
---
From the "I know the answer to this one" department - Online headline: "Ryan Seacrest’s Oscars red carpet ratings drop 43% from 2017" -- Whoa.. it's not what you're probably thinking... personally, I believe this is payback for Seacrest from re-booking Mariah Carey back to this past New Year's Eve show after Carey's debacle on the previous one.
---
From the "there's a new "chicken joke" in the making" department - Online headline: "Why are San Francisco Chickens Wearing Diapers?" -- Hmmm... because it's against the law in San Francisco to let people know your true gender?
---
Online headline/story: "Why are San Francisco Chickens Wearing Diapers? * The rich and famous of San Francisco are falling head over heels for a new status symbol — pet chickens. * Some Bay Area chicken-lovers are spending as much as $400 for a chicken — and nearly $20,000 for high-tech homes to house their pet birds. * The Washington Post reports one poultry paradise is constructed from sustainable red pine and comes equipped with solar panels. It’s called the “Range Rover of chicken cribs.” -- This is so San Francisco.. miles of streets are lined with homeless people's shanties and feces, and San Franciscans diaper and pamper their chickens...

Guess Pelosi found a voter registration law that allows chickens to vote..
---------------------
What's the latest on the the Republican Special Train wrecked by the garbage truck back in January? Certain aspects tend to indicate it was not an accident yet mainscream media is not the least bit interested in following up. Let's not let this drop.
---
Talk about state-of-the art college stadiums, Mississippi State just opened it's 2018 home season at newly reconstructed Dudy-Noble field..$55,000,000.00 worth. We'll have to see if State fans are as thrilled because it looks like cowbells will not be allowed inside. Whatta disappointment for this State fan...HELL, State, whatta ya' thinking!
---
Linda Sarsour.. venomous Muslim spokesperson, et al were arrested for "civil disobedience" outside Speaker Paul Ryan's office yesterday.. a couple of questions arise.. why does a person with an opportunity to discuss an issue do something to circumvent the opportunity, and secondly, how did they get past the Capitol Police Department in the first place?
---
Online headline/story: "NEWS Ben Carson To Shut Down Obama’s Biggest Illegal Pet Project… * Under Obama-era policies, the HUD doles out taxpayer dollars for Section 8 housing, going against administrators and the U.S. Supreme Court. * But not for long.
* Under new leadership, the HUD is now going to return to a “competitive bidding process” to award Section 8 housing contracts — so taxpayer dollars aren’t used." -- "so tax dollars aren't used"? Fancy that.. This is what happens when business people run the government..
---
Word is out that 25% of McDonald's restaurants are now using "fresh beef" for their Quarterpounder sandwiches. For 1-in-4 chance of finding out whether or not you'll get a fresh beef patty or not, I think I'll continue to stop at Wendy's where I KNOW the patties are fresh.
---
Spent this past weekend out-of-town..Twas a marvelous family weekend...didn't keep up with the local news, so can anybody brighten my day by telling me Carlton Gary passed away from old age or something?
---
Hmmm... Mayor Tom-LYING-son was busy this past weekend.. too bad it was pushing her own agenda rather than tending to City business... Why was she concerned an=bout the GA Legislature ending the Delta tax gift? In Columbus, she only wants to RAISE our taxes...
Tom-LYING-son also went after gun laws.. he said a man with a AR-15 strapped to his back walked freely through our Public Safety Building and her police officers were prohibited from demanding he show a permit. Really.. it would be one thing for a man to walk in with his rifle leveled for shooting, but even then, a room full of armed officers should have no problem responding to that situation either.. question: did I miss something... is it now a law to have, much less carry, a permit for a long gun?
Then she went after two politicians who had their guns stolen out of their cars while they were working.. Hmm.. if their workplace didn't have "Gun Free Zone" signs everywhere, they could have carried them inside and the guns would not have been stolen.
---
Oh,, and Mayor Tom-LYING-son wasn't finished.. she also wrote a column for that "Daily Beast" site. While she rambled on about different things, particularly about crime decreases and efficient use of our Public Safety SPLOST revenues (yeah .. right), this one "quote" sums her up:
In 2014, Georgia passed the “guns everywhere” law, which allows firearms to be carried into public schools, bars, churches, and government buildings, including libraries, recreational centers, city office buildings, and fire stations. This law passed over the objection of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, whose president stated: “Police officers do not want more people carrying guns on the street, particularly police officers in inner city areas.”
Good grief.. she closed one door at the Citizens Service Center because she said "we" can't afford two weapon screening stations, but if you are not a law enforcement officer.. do try and carry a gun into our government buildings.. Now I do sympathized with our police officers in, as she stated it, the "inner city areas", because chances are pretty good that the average teen on the street doesn't qualify for a "Carry Permit" or a clean background check to carry a LEGAL weapon.
---
You know, in partisan political races, candidates should have to identify their political affiliation in their ads and on their signs. We need to know whether a candidate will beholden to Pelosi or Schumer when voting, or not standing up for America during a Trump State of the Union speech shout-out to our military.
---
It's disheartening to hear Congresspersons.. especially RINOs, talking about trade wars and tariffs being battles that cannot be won...that's why we have such horrible trade deficits... it's been so long since the US has tasted victory that our Congresspersons just have no clue about how sweet victory tastes!
---
There's a new indicator to help determine if someone has experienced a "stroke" .. have the person stick out their TONGUE.. if it goes to either side rather than straight out, it's a good sign of a stroke.. Of course, there is an exception.. it doesn't work on career DIMocrat politicians/staff.. they are so use to speaking from both sides of their mouths that their tongues just alternate sides depending on who's in front of them.
---
Looking at some of the campaign disclosures in the Columbus Mayor's race..how can LLC's and other businesses donate without disclosing the Principle(s) of the business's name being included? If it's legal.. it shouldn't be. Oh,, and how about donations from Phenix City businesses... especially undisclosed principle ones?
---
From the "how many ways can the public figure out how to abuse this ordinance" department - L-E headline/story: "DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS * Proposed law would broaden open-container ordinance * The proposed ordinance is being recommended by Uptown Columbus Inc., a non-profit downtown redevelopment organization, to create what it terms an entertainment and restaurant district. The proposed ordinance would impact downtown businesses such as bars and restaurants that have an on-premise alcohol license and customers who want to carry an unfinished drink out of the establishment. * “This gives you the opportunity to have a glass of wine and go down the street and enjoy the rest of uptown,” said Ross Horner, president and CEO of Uptown Columbus Inc. *
• No alcoholic beverages purchased outside of the entertainment district shall be allowed in open containers in the entertainment district.
• Alcohol purchased from package stores or growler stores that have an off-premise license are not allowed in open containers in the entertainment district.
• Residents of downtown loft apartments and condominiums and the Columbus Historic District would not be permitted to bring alcohol from their homes in open containers in the entertainment district." --
Whoa! Good grief.. it would take assigning a monitor to every car, every dorm/apt room in the Downtown area to make sure drinkers simply buy a single beer at a bar, then refill it from their vehicles or abodes... and I guess the development/nurturing of "a family atmosphere" would be out-the-door...

---
From the "goose/gander" department - L-E headline/story: "COLUMBUS * Shot in head with own gun, home invasion victim tries to remember * A 24-year-old Columbus home invasion victim struggled Tuesday to remember the night two visitors set him up for a robbery that left him brain-damaged from being shot in the head with his own gun. * He was testifying in the trial of Dewayne Vidal Searcy Jr., 24, charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, using a gun to commit a felony and being a convicted felon with a firearm. * Prosecutors allege Searcy was one of two men whom the women visiting the victim allowed into Apt. 1-F at Cooper Cove Apartments on Milgen Road around 3:30 a.m. on May 11, 2016. * That’s when the men were supposed to sneak in through the unlocked door while the women distracted the resident, and take guns and drugs from a safe in a bedroom closet." -- Good grief! The victim is also a criminal and was involved in a criminal act.. I'm sorry, but the victim needs to be charged and prosecuted as well, and all of them put away or executed -- based on which crimes they committed..

Online story: "Trump on DACA: ‘It’s March 5th and the Democrats are nowhere to be found’ * “The Democrats are being totally unresponsive. They don’t want to do anything about DACA,” Trump added. “It’s very possible that DACA won’t happen, and it’s not because of the Republicans. It’s going to be because of the Democrats.” * “with ongoing court battles over the program, DACA will almost certainly stay in place beyond March 5. Two separate federal courts have blocked the president from ending the program.” -- Hmmm 2 federal courts... out of 13 appellate courts, and 94 judicial districts which are organized into 12 regional circuits, each of which has a court of appeals..and liberals go "judge shopping in California for most court challenges.. 2 cases is hardly a major movement, and they are subject to overturn by the only court that eventually matters.. the US Supreme Court.

Online headline/story: "A new generation of anti-gentrification radicals are on the march in Los Angeles – and around the country * The protest at Mariachi Plaza didn’t seem, at first, like a declaration of war. * the Feb. 7 event looked like the same sort of grassroots, anti-gentrification gathering that might have taken place in any big American city at any point over the past 10 years as higher-income transplants have increasingly colonized lower-income urban communities, remaking once marginalized neighborhoods in their own cold-brew-and-kombucha image. * it was organized by Defend Boyle Heights, a coalition of scorched-earth young activists from the surrounding neighborhood — the heart of Mexican-American L.A. — who have rejected the old, peaceful forms of resistance (discussion, dialogue, policy proposals) and decided that the only sensible response is to attack and hopefully frighten off the sorts of art galleries, craft breweries and single-origin coffee shops that tend to pave the way for more powerful invaders: the real estate agents, developers and bankers whose arrival typically mark a neighborhood’s point of no return." -- You know.. protests groups who wear masks, carry "flares" like torches, and use intimidation and violence methods, and perform while law enforcement official stand by and allow this use to be called the KKK. While I'm a great believer in the rights of free speech and assembly.. doing so in masks and carrying weapons is not one of the conditions.
What's even more bothersome is our Mayor Tom-LYING-son is on a course of gentrification of similar neighborhoods right here in Columbus, GA.. she's implementing bicycle and walking trails and T.A.D. projects through areas with a goal to relocate lower income residents without a follow-through vision of what the future will be.

https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/03/05/a-new-generation-of-anti-gentrification-radicals-are-on-the-march-in-los-angeles-and-around-the-country/23377595/

From the "America IS Becoming Great Again" department - Online headline: "Oscars drop to all-time low of 26.5 million viewers" -- Hmmm let's parse a bit: 26.5 Million is only
8.4 percent of the US population.. heck, 26.5 million is only 2 of 3 Californians who are dependent on the Hollywood industry... To paraphrase a familiar adage, Hollywood is "all messed up and nowhere to go'.
---
You know...Hollywooders don't understand that they are admire/rewarded for speaking words others have written out for them...not words of their own.
---
It's official.. Tollie Strode, Jr has qualified to run for Columbus Council Post 10 (At Large). Well.. still had hopes Tollie would rethink and qualify as a candidate for Mayor, but, getting Tollie's resolve and voice anywhere in our government is a big WIN for Columbus!
---
Hey Mayor Tom-LYING-son.. did you forget to publish these facts when you were trying to end our Tax Freeze protection?
26. Georgia
> Effective property tax rate: 0.9%
> Median home value: $166,800 (20th lowest)
> Per capita property tax collections: $1,087 (20th lowest)
> Median household income: $53,559 (21st lowest)

GA is right in the middle of high-to-low numbers.. I'm going to "parse" numbers I'm familiar with: A Columbus home assessed at $345K, with a homestead exemption final Assessment Value of $138K had 2017 property taxes of $5,170.01. The property tax equates with 1.49% of Total Fair Market Value, and 3.7% of Final Assessment Value. Now Mayo.. do not try to "splain" it with your spin.. this home was purchased in 2003 for $350K, and your new software deems it of lesser value 14 years later..you have nowhere to hide from your GREED to tax us more for your "gentrification/whim" projects.

Kobe Bryant.. LeBron James... and actually others... should be ashamed at encouraging youth to "be like them" and seek their fame and fortune in the NBA.. and skip college to do so.. "ashamed".. YES.. how do youths seeking to follow "them" decide to become 6' 6' or taller to begin with, but focus on basketball rather than education.. Statistically, reaching 6'6" puts one in a category of about 130,000 in the US; that's less than .0004 percent.. there are 30 NBA teams with rosters limited to 15 players.. so, only 450 players are actually playing in the NBA at a given time. And colleges .. there are 347 DIV 1 teams..with scholarships limited to 13 per team, so there are only 4,511 college players always looking to displace one of the 450 NBA players.o, Kobe.. no LeBron.. you are not doing of youth a favor by encouraging them to set goals to be like "you" .. Tell them the truth.. tell them to enjoy basketball, but concentrate on their education.. that's the way out and UP.

From the "when more than enough is not enough" department - Online headline/story: "Shootings at Chicago gang members' funerals getting 'out of control', police say * Chicago-area officials trying to prevent funerals for gang members from turning into shootouts say the issue has gotten so far “out of control” that one cemetery has started hiring off-duty police officers." -- Good grief.. even with "on duty" police on the streets of Shicago, gang shootings are out-of-control". The surprise here is that the cemetery wants to stop the on=site shootings.. seems like cemeteries would welcome the extra business.

Watching some of the PGA golf from Mexico....Officials around the greens and tee boxes were holding up signs to quiet the crowds...and they were in Spanish .. "Silencio" ..meanwhile, protesters about the "wall" are holding up signs in English..guess it means DIMocrats are providing them or.... or we don't need to teach classes in America in Spanish.

From the ""climate Change" experts... yeah.." department - Online story: "For years, scientists thought Adélie penguins — one of the most common species in the Antarctic Peninsula — faced a population decline. But with the help of some poop, researchers have found a huge new colony. * In 2014, NASA researchers noticed an unusual amount of penguin droppings on the Danger Islands — a remote area that was not considered an important penguin habitat. The team wasn't sure how many penguins were there, so they set out to count them * When the team got to the islands, they found thousands of penguins nesting at the landing site. And when they sent up a drone to take pictures, they were surprised to find more than 1.5 million penguins living there. "-- So much for the "endangered plea" and "big oils" fault.

Questioning Islam is not "phobic".. Online headline.story: "Teacher tried to create 'army of children' to launch terror attacks in London * A British supporter of Islamic State was found guilty on Friday of trying to recruit children he was teaching into an "army" of jihadists to help carry out a wave of attacks across London. * U*** H****, 25, showed the children beheading videos and other violent militant propaganda, forced them to re-enact deadly attacks on the British capital and made them role-play attacking police officers. * "His plan was to create an army of children to assist with multiple terrorist attacks throughout London," said Dean Haydon, head of the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command. "He tried and he did, we believe, radicalize vulnerable children from the ages of 11 to 14."" -- and DIMocrats still believe we should let as many unvetted Muslims into America as want to come.. Maybe we should do more vetting of DIMocrat voters/Congressperson, and send out those that fail.

This is what's wrong with "political correctness" - Online headline: "Sen. Hatch apologizes for 'stupidest, dumbass' comment" -- Good grief.. we finally get a senior politician to speak honestly, and he apologizes for it.. even though he was right!

Online headline: "House Intelligence Republicans leaked a top Senate Democrat's private messages to Fox News — and their Senate counterparts are furious" -- Republicans did this? The very nature of a "leaks" trail is ambiguous .. at best... but looking at the nature of the leaks, it's probably an equal .. or better.. chance.. that a DIMocrat "leaked" them just to create "turmoil" since the DIMocrats have nothing to add except "turmoil".

L-E headline/picture: "Q&A with Columbus Museum curator Jonathan Walz on ‘Holograph: Women on Paper’ exhibit"

You know, the Columbus L-E must have some fetish for genitalia.. Recently, the L-E published a picture of the "Viagra Falls" statue by the River Center.. but I guess it wasn't graphic enough, so the L-E decided to be MORE graphic.

Funny isn't it, that mainscream media and the DIMocrats cheered when businesses announced hey were not going to do business with the NRA over an erroneous gun issue... yet vilified a small bakery for not doing business for a factual religious issue.

From the "how come it's not a goose/gander thing" department -- A local crime scene involving a chase that knocked out a fire hydrant showed an indeterminate amount of water being lost. You know, when I moved into my current home here in Columbus, the Columbus Water Works would not change over the meter until I installed ANOTHER cut off valve between the Water Works meter and my house . I didn't matter to the CWW that I had already installed cut-off valves in the crawl space and in the living space... and owned a "water key" so I could cut off water AT the meter. On top of that, the outside meter didn't include an access box so it could be easily found in an emergency, and I cannot tell you exactly where I would have to dig to find it in an emergency, so, basically, all I have is two "pipe cuts" that could fail. Now, back to the water issue at the crime scene.. why didn't the CWW install a "cut off valve" to the hydrant so a police officer could shut down the loss of water?

Now, sadly, from the above story, a teen died... from a bullet exchange in which one hit the driver inn he head.. it happened over 3 years ago and just now went to court.. all the car passengers were 16 and younger, and all the guns were stolen prior to the incident..none of the survivors are going to jail.. all were plead out to lesser crimes and given probation..the prosecutor said it was because the mother of the dead child wanted it this way.. excuse me, but does society WANT these "boys" .. now older teens, back on the street with no lesson learned. Does society DESERVE this? Not in my book.

L-E headline/story: "Shotgun blast injures 3 people, damages two vehicles and apartment on Fifth Avenue * David Davis, 64, was arrested almost two hours after the 10:45 p.m. shooting at 620 Fifth Ave. He also faces one count each of reckless conduct, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime." -- Ever notice how often "possession by a convicted felon" highlight shooting stories? Well, the guns have 'a trail'. How about a database of stores manufacturers originally sold their guns, the the stores keep a database of who they originally sold their guns. Oh...seems they already do this.. Well, how about using this data to track down the original buyers and make them accountable for keeping a record of who they sold/gave the gun, or if it was stolen, when did they report it to the police.

L-E headline/story: "Ferst Readers reaching children in poverty in Columbus * One organization I am proud to serve is Ferst Readers, previously known as the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy." -- Ironically, changing the name from the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy to Ferst Readers highlights a most common perception that our students are not getting a good education foundation.. I can see it now, once kids CAN read, the first thing they will notice is that Ferst looks misspelled.

The sadder thing is that mainscream media KNOWS that the Obama administration shut down WV's economy by shutting down the coal industry, and WV is l]just now getting back on its feet economically and that is due to Trump's override of Obama policies... yet, the WV teacher's union did not go on strike when Obama was n office and their pay DECLINED!

Online story: "California native Greg Gutfeld reacted to his home state being ranked "dead last" in a recent survey studying the quality of life in each of America's 50 states. * "Being number one really means you're number two," he said. * Gutfeld said the survey looked at personal opportunity, infrastructure and crime. * "It's impossible to live there unless you're super rich or homeless," he said. * Gutfeld used the example of an apparent U-Haul surcharge on outbound travel with the truck rental company. * To go from San Francisco to Dallas costs $3,206, but the return trip only costs $1,128. * He said that disparity was a product of the mass exodus of people from the Bay Area. * Gutfeld added that in Los Angeles County, there are 55,000 homeless people, making the area look like a "post-apocalyptic wasteland" in some places. * San Francisco, he said, spent millions of dollars in 2017 just on cleaning human feces off its streets." -- SF "spent millions of dollars in 2017 just on cleaning human feces off its streets"? And that's hurting McDonald's, the world's second-largest restaurant chain, to the tune of billions of dollars. * So much so, that McDonald's just suffered the worst day in its entire history, at least by one metric: the total dollar drop and reduction in value that its stock lost in just one day of trading. * Shares of McDonald's fell 4.8 percent Friday. The company is still worth $118 billion, so that means it lost enough value that theoretically you could have bought its much smaller competitor Wendy's with the amount of the loss, and had a lot left over. " -- "theoretically (McDonald's) could have bought.... Wendy's with the amount of the loss"? You know, McDonald's SHOULD have done that.. and McDonald's would own the secret of serving FRESH hamburger patties!

From the "who are these people?" department - Online headline: "Republicans furious as Trump announces huge new tariffs: 'A massive tax increase on American families' * Republicans and conservative groups were furious with President Donald Trump's Thursday announcement to impose new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. * Trump said the US will impose a tariff, or tax on imports, of 25% for steel and 10% for aluminum. The move is designed to boost domestic production of US metals, but economists, lawmakers, and even many White House officials are worried it could lead to devastating consequences for the US economy. * "Obviously we don't want to be taken advantage of by our trading partners, but then there is always a danger of retaliation and creating trade wars," Cornyn said. "So it's a very delicate balance."" -- "we don't want to be taken advantage of by our trading partners"? Now a 3rd question needs to be clearly brought out to Columbus,
"How much money has been sent to Illinois and Atlanta dealmakers to get this deal done?"

L-E headline/story: "Lawmakers punish Delta over NRA feud * Pro-gun Georgia lawmakers scored a political victory Thursday over Delta Air Lines, making good on Republican threats to deny the company a hefty tax break after it cut ties with the National Rifle Association in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Florida high school. * The state House and Senate within hours of each other passed a sweeping tax bill that Republicans had amended to strip out a sales tax exemption on jet fuel. Atlanta-based Delta would have been the prime beneficiary of the tax break, which would have been worth an estimated $38 million." -- "pro gun Georgia lawmakers"? Really? How about constitutionally concerned Georgia PATRIOTS? Number one.. why should Georgia residents be penalized for compensating Delta.. Georgia residents are exposed to all the discharges of fuel combustion and the costs associated with those.. Secondly, it appears that Delta has been receiving an "operational advantage" other airlines have to compete with.. basically just WRONG!. Thirdly, who cares if Delta stays or not.. other major airlines would love to compete with all the freed up gates at the world's busiest airport, and would pay a premium to get the opportunity..

Thing is,  the guy is 18... an "adult".. and can be.. should be.. held accountable and subject to consequences.. One of those consequences should be removal from the MCSD system.. the other students .. and teachers..need peace!

Soapbox Moment: From the " male #metoo " department - -- What is Dick's Sporting Goods CEO thinking...well not thinking..maybe "feeling"...by giving up selling "some" semi-automatic rifles...does the CEO believe that the anti-gun groups will take up the slack? Maybe trade in their protest signs for outdoor gear.. good luck with that.. Does the CEO "feel" that if he "gives in" on one issue, that the antifa will be grateful? Fat chance.. all concessions to liberals do is "stoke them" to ask for more and bigger concessions. How about raising the drivers license age to 21.. We know more teens die ..way more teens die... annually in teen driven car wrecks that are killed in all homicide events.. Ah.. but like underage drinking, underage possession of firearms, teens will steal... "borrow".."get access" to someone else's car and take a joyride.. No, Dick's CEO is not helping with a solution, he's politically correctly "kicking the can down the road" feeling liberals will like him and stop bothering him. WUSS! .. Now, some of you are "up in arms" over the drivers license issue.. make exceptions.. passing school grades.. limited "to work and school" permits.. 10:00 PM curfews, no more than 1 passenger at a time, "Teen Driver" decals on rear windows.. And like all other attempts at legislation of morals, only the morals will obey them.. Oh.. just tore up my Dick's Rewards Card.

Further thinking out as to why companies cut relationships with the NRA leaves me even more confused at their "thought processing". Let's take airlines and car rental folks specifically..NRA members who fly to attend the annual NRA meeting are pretty likely people who do a lot of flying elsewhere during the year. Does Delta or United feel that NRA members are going to rationalize that Delta or United's intentions were just to keep them from attending the annual NRA meeting? When it comes down to the bottom line, Delta and United are messing with NRA member's 1st Amendment rights, and Delta and United are going to lose all the other non-NRA-discount business of millions of NRA's 5 MILLION members.. and Hertz. Avis, and Enterprise will suffer more. Me. I'm not even a NRA member, but I will boycott Delta, United, Avis, Enterprise, and Hertz on the premise they do not feel gun-owners have 1st Amendment protection as well!

From the "disgusting" department - Online headline/story: "Man sentenced to 300 years for child sex crimes freed on technicality * news broke that 46-year-old Michael McFadden was released from prison Tuesday, * McFadden appealed his conviction, claiming pre-trial delays violated Colorado’s speedy trial statutes. * This past June, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled in McFadden’s favor, throwing out his conviction and ruling he could not be retried. * McFadden does not even have to register as a sex offender." -- and "does not have to register as a sex offender"? I better see his name chiseled in stone above the door of wherever sex offenders have to register in GA!
Oh.. and here are the 22 Colorado Court of Appeals judges..I cannot find a listing of the ones that ruled in the McFadden case, so when each of these judges comes up for "retention elections - (every 8 years)", urge Colorado to replace them all until we know the exact panel that did this.

Judges:
The Colorado Court of Appeals, located in Denver, has 22 judges. The judges serve eight-year terms and are subject to retention elections. Each of these judges has his or her own separate chambers located in the Ralph L. Carr Judicial Center.

Saw this online headline, "The Untold Truth of Rachel Maddow", and wondered... you know, this is a very cryptic.. perhaps even oxymoronic.. headline.. can anyone even recall a moment that Rachel Maddow has actually TOLD the TRUTH?

From the "another jury fail" department - L-E headline/story: "OPERATION HIDDEN GUARDIAN * Man caught in child sex sting not guilty * Kim’s defense was he did not know the girl was 14 and that she led him to believe by an online photo and a phone conversation that she was much older." -- Good grief.. with as difficult a time it is to KNOW what age some girls can be with the amount of make-up that's available, how can a jury not realize that when a girl says she is 14, that a only sick person would believe otherwise and make the trip.. SMH.

From the "shoe is on the other foot now" department - L-E headline/story: "COLUMBUS COUNCIL * Sheriff to councilors: You need to pay for safety * “More importantly, sir, I’m just going to have to get real here,” she said. “... I need people to work in the county jail. The safety and security of both my employees and my inmates is paramount in my mind." -- Whoaaaaaa! Hmmm... isn't this sorta "deja vu" on my the mayor worked so hard to discredit Sheriff Darr that he had to file a lawsuit against her/Council? And didn't current Sheriff Tompkins curry favor with Mayor Tom-LYING-son to run against Darr on the premise she could run the Sheriff's Office on the Mayor's budget whims? Darr for MAYOR!!!

Did you see the Full Page ad Piedmont Healthcare ran in the Columbus L-E? Well, with Piedmont taking over Columbus Regional, we have two issues that need to be addressed.. first, will Columbus Regional rates be raised to the limits that Piedmont can get in Atlanta, and 2nd, and certainly not least, is will Piedmont still get the property tax millage that Council gives Columbus Regional to cover local indigent care. The 2nd issue is definitely a campaign issue to be addressed/answered by those running for Mayor and Council.

L-E headline/story: "Pizza Hut takes Papa John’s place as NFL sponsor * The NFL has a new favorite pizza joint. A day after Papa John’s said it was ending its sponsorship deal with the league, Roger Goodell announced Wednesday that Pizza Hut has stepped in as the new official pizza of the NFL." -- Hmmm.. guess I'll reinstate Papa John's back into my "speed dial" lineup.

From the "I'm taking the Missouri approach.... "show me" " department - L-E headline/story: "The ‘Stocking Strangler’ killer terrorized Columbus; now he has an execution date — again * Convicted serial killer Carlton Gary’s death by lethal injection is to be 7 p.m. March 15 at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson." -- It's been 40 years of terror this man has wreaked upon this community.. why wait until March 15th.. why not TODAY! Otherwise, he could die of old age before then and cheat us all again!

Who doesn't... well.. at least from most of the age group this message reaches... remember certain love poems penned by Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning? "come grow old with me".. "how do I love thee, let me count the ways"... Think about this.. if texting and e-mail existed in their days, we would not have these immortal poems.. we'd have nothing but "sound bytes".

Blaming guns for deaths is like blaming computers for dumb e-mails people send.
