Online story: "Trump on DACA: ‘It’s March 5th and the Democrats are nowhere to be found’ * “The Democrats are being totally unresponsive. They don’t want to do anything about DACA,” Trump added. “It’s very possible that DACA won’t happen, and it’s not because of the Republicans. It’s going to be because of the Democrats.” * “with ongoing court battles over the program, DACA will almost certainly stay in place beyond March 5. Two separate federal courts have blocked the president from ending the program.” -- Hmmm 2 federal courts... out of 13 appellate courts, and 94 judicial districts which are organized into 12 regional circuits, each of which has a court of appeals..and liberals go "judge shopping in California for most court challenges.. 2 cases is hardly a major movement, and they are subject to overturn by the only court that eventually matters.. the US Supreme Court.

Online headline/story: "A new generation of anti-gentrification radicals are on the march in Los Angeles – and around the country * The protest at Mariachi Plaza didn’t seem, at first, like a declaration of war. * the Feb. 7 event looked like the same sort of grassroots, anti-gentrification gathering that might have taken place in any big American city at any point over the past 10 years as higher-income transplants have increasingly colonized lower-income urban communities, remaking once marginalized neighborhoods in their own cold-brew-and-kombucha image. * it was organized by Defend Boyle Heights, a coalition of scorched-earth young activists from the surrounding neighborhood — the heart of Mexican-American L.A. — who have rejected the old, peaceful forms of resistance (discussion, dialogue, policy proposals) and decided that the only sensible response is to attack and hopefully frighten off the sorts of art galleries, craft breweries and single-origin coffee shops that tend to pave the way for more powerful invaders: the real estate agents, developers and bankers whose arrival typically mark a neighborhood’s point of no return." -- You know.. protests groups who wear masks, carry "flares" like torches, and use intimidation and violence methods, and perform while law enforcement official stand by and allow this use to be called the KKK. While I'm a great believer in the rights of free speech and assembly.. doing so in masks and carrying weapons is not one of the conditions.

What's even more bothersome is our Mayor Tom-LYING-son is on a course of gentrification of similar neighborhoods right here in Columbus, GA.. she's implementing bicycle and walking trails and T.A.D. projects through areas with a goal to relocate lower income residents without a follow-through vision of what the future will be.

From the "America IS Becoming Great Again" department - Online headline: "Oscars drop to all-time low of 26.5 million viewers" -- Hmmm let's parse a bit: 26.5 Million is only
8.4 percent of the US population.. heck, 26.5 million is only 2 of 3 Californians who are dependent on the Hollywood industry... To paraphrase a familiar adage, Hollywood is "all messed up and nowhere to go'.

You know...Hollywooders don't understand that they are admire/rewarded for speaking words others have written out for them...not words of their own.

It's official.. Tollie Strode, Jr has qualified to run for Columbus Council Post 10 (At Large). Well.. still had hopes Tollie would rethink and qualify as a candidate for Mayor, but, getting Tollie's resolve and voice anywhere in our government is a big WIN for Columbus!

Hey Mayor Tom-LYING-son.. did you forget to publish these facts when you were trying to end our Tax Freeze protection?
26. Georgia
> Effective property tax rate: 0.9%
> Median home value: $166,800 (20th lowest)
> Per capita property tax collections: $1,087 (20th lowest)
> Median household income: $53,559 (21st lowest)
> Effective property tax rate: 0.9%

GA is right in the middle of high-to-low numbers.. I'm going to "parse" numbers I'm familiar with: A Columbus home assessed at $345K, with a homestead exemption final Assessment Value of $138K had 2017 property taxes of $5,170.01. The property tax equates with 1.49% of Total Fair Market Value, and 3.7% of Final Assessment Value. Now Mayo.. do not try to "splain" it with your spin.. this home was purchased in 2003 for $350K, and your new software deems it of lesser value 14 years later..you have nowhere to hide from your GREED to tax us more for your "gentrification/whim" projects.

Kobe Bryant.. LeBron James... and actually others... should be ashamed at encouraging youth to "be like them" and seek their fame and fortune in the NBA.. and skip college to do so.. "ashamed".. YES.. how do youths seeking to follow "them" decide to become 6' 6' or taller to begin with, but focus on basketball rather than education.. Statistically, reaching 6'6" puts one in a category of about 130,000 in the US; that's less than .0004 percent.. there are 30 NBA teams with rosters limited to 15 players.. so, only 450 players are actually playing in the NBA at a given time. And colleges .. there are 347 DIV 1 teams..with scholarships limited to 13 per team, so there are only 4,511 college players always looking to displace one of the 450 NBA players.o, Kobe.. no LeBron.. you are not doing of youth a favor by encouraging them to set goals to be like "you" .. Tell them the truth.. tell them to enjoy basketball, but concentrate on their education.. that's the way out and UP.

From the "when more than enough is not enough" department - Online headline/story: "Shootings at Chicago gang members' funerals getting 'out of control', police say * Chicago-area officials trying to prevent funerals for gang members from turning into shootouts say the issue has gotten so far “out of control” that one cemetery has started hiring off-duty police officers." -- Good grief.. even with "on duty" police on the streets of Shicago, gang shootings are out-of-control". The surprise here is that the cemetery wants to stop the on=site shootings.. seems like cemeteries would welcome the extra business.
