From the "who are these people?" department - Online headline: "Republicans furious as Trump announces huge new tariffs: 'A massive tax increase on American families' * Republicans and conservative groups were furious with President Donald Trump's Thursday announcement to impose new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. * Trump said the US will impose a tariff, or tax on imports, of 25% for steel and 10% for aluminum. The move is designed to boost domestic production of US metals, but economists, lawmakers, and even many White House officials are worried it could lead to devastating consequences for the US economy. * "Obviously we don't want to be taken advantage of by our trading partners, but then there is always a danger of retaliation and creating trade wars," Cornyn said. "So it's a very delicate balance."" -- "we don't want to be taken advantage of by our trading partners"? Good grief We HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF by our trading partners.. for way too long... so long that American businesses have suffered in vital categories. Like oil. America does NOT need to be dependent on imports for key business and lifestyle resources.

Online headline: "Witness says Trump did nothing to stop bat beating in 1991" -- You know... when a "witness" of an event 27 years ago refutes Trumps' version of him stepping into a street rage attack now speaks out, there is but one question to ask.. "What did you do at the time to help out the man?" Even a 16 year old girl could have screamed enough to draw attention of the attacker away from his assault victim.

In 2010, President Obama attended the funeral for Senator Robert Byrd.. even spoke..eulogized him...this week, Obama has already decided not to attend Bill Grahams funeral...seems Obama has a vision of the wrong "cross".

L-E headline: "Orrin Hatch calls Obamacare supporters ‘the stupidest, dumbass people I’ve ever met’" -- This speaks volumes for the value of term limits.. Hatch's retirement plans now allow him to speak truthfully...

From the "it's becoming a trend... the loss of our identity" department - "L-E headline: "The sign at the top of what was once the Midtown Medical Center tells the story, one of change and long-term survival. * The sign simply reads, “Piedmont.” -- Names keep disappearing from our identity.. I remember when Callaway Gardens was "30 Minutes north of Columbus".. now it's "60 minutes south of Atlanta". We use to have Sears, K-Mart. and hhgregg .. but they, too, have left the area.. more recently CB&T has been replaced by Synovus, and now Piedmont bedecks the walls of Columbus Regional.. Yeah,, the Columbus Chamber " do amazing".. Abracadabra... we's gone!
---
L-E headline: "Marriott hotel expansion to create 65 jobs" -- Ooooops... in Opelika.. not Columbus... yes, Columbus Chamber..you do "amazing".

L-E story: "French prosecutors filed preliminary charges Thursday against Marine Le Pen for tweeting brutal images of Islamic State violence. * Le Pen’s 2015 tweets showed executions by IS extremists, including the killing of American James Foley." -- Where is the American mainscream media! This is what happens when the government controls citizens rights.. whether the right of freedom of speech or the right to bear arms without infringement...

From the ""how do Columbus citizens/taxpayers benefit" department - L-E headline/story: "Hospital merger walked a path of careful planning * The merger has been more than 10 months in the making and is part of a process that Columbus Regional board members and executives have been actively exploring for more than three years * The road to this merger started back in 2012 * asked the Columbus Regional chief financial officer to produce a five-year financial plan. An outside firm, Kaufman Hall & Associates of Illinois, was hired to formulate the plan. * hired Alston & Bird, a law firm headquartered in Atlanta. * the planning committee recommended in May 2016 a process to hire a consultant to assist Columbus Regional in exploring possible strategic partners. Kaufman Hall was again retained to help work through that process" - Seems to be a whole lotta cash has been sent out of town in this process...There were already two big questions on the table: 1 - the effect of an Atlanta based hospital own costs to Columbus patients, and 2 - what about the property tax deal Council has... had with Columbus Regional . Now a 3rd question needs to be clearly brought out to Columbus,
"How much money has been sent to Illinois and Atlanta dealmakers to get this deal done?"

L-E headline/story: "Lawmakers punish Delta over NRA feud * Pro-gun Georgia lawmakers scored a political victory Thursday over Delta Air Lines, making good on Republican threats to deny the company a hefty tax break after it cut ties with the National Rifle Association in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Florida high school. * The state House and Senate within hours of each other passed a sweeping tax bill that Republicans had amended to strip out a sales tax exemption on jet fuel. Atlanta-based Delta would have been the prime beneficiary of the tax break, which would have been worth an estimated $38 million." -- "pro gun Georgia lawmakers"? Really? How about constitutionally concerned Georgia PATRIOTS? Number one.. why should Georgia residents be penalized for compensating Delta.. Georgia residents are exposed to all the discharges of fuel combustion and the costs associated with those.. Secondly, it appears that Delta has been receiving an "operational advantage" other airlines have to compete with.. basically just WRONG!. Thirdly, who cares if Delta stays or not.. other major airlines would love to compete with all the freed up gates at the world's busiest airport, and would pay a premium to get the opportunity..

Once again, where is the Mayor and L-E on Sheriff Tompkins confirmation that Sheriff Darr was right...Darr was interested in doing his job by the regulations that had no flexibility.. The Mayor owes Darr... and the citizens of Columbus... a major apology..a simple resignation would suffice.

It appears that the DIMocrats are "up in arms".. pretty soon we'll probably see them backing off new gun restrictions like raising the age to buy them.. after all, what could they run on next election cycle?

L-E headline/story: "Shaw High student arrested for alleged threat on Snapchat * Officials have released the name of the Shaw High student who was charged Tuesday afternoon after allegedly asking someone on Snapchat to help him kill another student.
* K****** S****, 18, was arrested on one count of criminal solicitation of violence. He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail." -- You know.. I already see where this is going.. a few character witnesses will say "he's a god boy", and was "just kidding", and he'll be back in some school soon... the MSCD won't want to shed itself of a source of state revenue.. Thing is, the guy is 18... an "adult".. and can be.. should be.. held accountable and subject to consequences.. One of those consequences should be removal from the MCSD system.. the other students .. and teachers..need peace!
