Online story: "Police in Maryland say a 22-year-old woman caused a major inconvenience in a convenience store when she stripped naked, made obscene comments to customers and sprawled out on the floor in front of the doughnut rack." -- Hey! What happened to the "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" policy!

If you think "cap 'n trade" died on the Senate floor, think again. potUS Imam-a has empowered the EPA to do much the same as 'regulations' going into effect on January 2, 2011 (so much for Sunday sacredness, but Sundays are the Christian day of worship). Call your Congressional Representatives and demand they vote to 'defund' the EPA.

Tid-bit: "How many hunters are there in America today? * 23 million to 43.7 million *The total population of registered hunters in America today is ranging from 23 million to 43.7 million individuals. This estimate came from the 2001 National Survey Of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Related Recreation, which was based on the annual data provided by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service."
---
This is passed from a fellow BCer:
Subject: The world's largest army........American hunters
The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without someone getting killed. That's great. There were over 600,000 hunters. Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth largest army in the world - more men under arms
than Iran; more than France and Germany combined - deployed to the woods of a single American state to help keep the deer menace at bay. But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this week. Michigan's 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. America will forever be safe from foreign invasion of troops with that kind of home-grown firepower. Hunting - it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security!

Reported now in a L-E story: "Nicole Burkes, the (Keep Columbus Beautiful) commission’s education coordinator, said people should remember to remove all the decorations from their trees before taking them to recycling. Since 1991, the program has collected more than 4 million trees and passed out 1 million seedlings, she said. -- MS Burkes needs to provide facts/proof that 200,000 (on average) Christmas trees have been processed each year before the L-E runs those numbers as 'fact'. I'm not criticizing the project or effort or results, but credibility and reality are just as important.
---
Addendum to above L-E report: "For residents that miss the commission’s tree recycling drive, the city’s waste management division will also start picking up trees left on the curb on January 10. Les Moore, the division manager, said they are waiting until that date so they don’t impede the recycling program. * The trees collected by the city will be taken to the inert landfill, ground up and sold to Mead for fuel." -- Looks like a just as viable recycling plan that actually puts money in the City's coffers. Gets my vote this year.
---
One of the L-E's 'main stories' of 2010 was about CSU's President, Dr Mescon and his faculty revolt. First I was neutral as when someone does come in new, feathers do get ruffled, but then I had a chance to meet with him to discuss a student parking issue in UPtown. I was taken aback at his obvious display of being perturbed at having to be at the meeting, and his obvious lack of interest at wanting to address, much less solve the situation. Looks like a repeat of the turmoil CC/CSU went through during the Dr Brooke's short reign sandwiched in between Dr Whitley's and Dr Brown's terms.
---
From L-E story: "A Muscogee County corrections officer arrested Monday among a group of three rowdy patrons at Steak ‘n Shake has been terminated from the Sheriff’s Office, Muscogee County SheriffJohn Darr said Thursday. * Blake Gunter, 19, faces one count of misdemeanor assault in connection with the early-morning incident. Police said Gunter and two other suspects were drinking alcohol.............. at the Bradley Park Drive restaurant." -- Maybe I missed something or the report was not fully 'reported', but should there be additional charges of under-aged drinking and possible possession by a minor charges as well?
---
L-E story: " BAGHDAD — Militants attacked at least four Christian homes Thursday night with a combination of grenades and bombs, killing two people and sending fear into the already terrified tiny Christian community. * It was the first attack against the country’s Christian community since al-Qaida-linked militants last week threatened a wave of violence against them. * Christians went so far as to tone down their Christmas celebrations in what was a peaceful holiday, but the attacks Thursday night demonstrated the intent of militants to keep up their deadly pressure on the Christian community. * In the deadliest attack, assailants in southwestern Baghdad threw two grenades inside the home of a Christian family, killing two people and injuring five more, police said." -- And Christians in the US are called intolerant for not wanting the "Hamas-Que" being built in the shadows of what was the World Trade Center.

The GA Tech women's basketball team beat Tennessee State 82 to 11. Tennessee State's record is now 4-9. The NCAA Ethics Committee should check GT's rest of the season schedule to make absolutely sure none of the teams Tennessee State has beaten are on GT's future schedule.

Went with higher expectations to see "True Grit". Higher because my first thought were that I thought it was an injustice for John Wayne getting an Oscar for the original "True Grit". As I left, I was thinking that John Wayne's version wasn't so bad after all. Thumbs down; save your money.
---
Speaking of movies, I do agree whole-heartedly with the McClatchy critics "worst movie of the year", "Furry Vengeance". "Furry Vengeance" would be in the running for the worst all-time movie except there is nothing that will ever even come close to "Ishtar".

As long as Carmike is going to show the Auburn-Oregon BCS National Championship game on its big screen, why not broadcast it in 3D?

Alan Grayson... remember him; ousted one-term DUMB&DUMBERat Congressman from Florida? Grayson is being promoted as a challenger for potUS Imam-a in the 2012 primaries. Grayson...anti war, anti personal wealth, sweetheart of Trial Lawyers and MSNBC, pro National HELL-thScare, and pro tax increases, and the poster child for the extreme left base of the sect-riddled DUMB&DUMBERat coalition, could shape the campaign season for the DUMB&DUMBERats. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Online headline: "Cops: Man Playing Real-Life 'Frogger' Hit by SUV" -- Ooops, my bad! Thought this might have happened on Victory Dr as skateboarders attempted to cross over to the Skateboard Park.

Mayor Wetherington was sworn in on the outdoor plaza of the Government Center, so anyone who wanted to attend could do so. Mother Teresa Obamalinson has chosen to take her oath in the Council Chamber which has a limit of about 100 people. Guess the lawyer in her wants to keep the witnesses to a low, controlled audience, but she is 'offering' it to be televised on CCGTV at 5:00 PM . 5:00 PM on CCGTV? That's the equivalency of televising paint drying.

A L-E "soundoff": " These people texting while waiting at the stop light are holding up traffic. They don’t see when the light changes, so it backs people up. There needs to be a law about that." -- There IS a law against that!

Bowl Games should be the reward for a better than average season. Why are 6-6, 7-5 teams allowed to participate?

From L-E story: "NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Upset the federal government recently extended tax cuts for the rich, three professors at Yale and Cornell universities have created a website that encourages wealthy Americans to give their tax savings to charities and send a political message in the process. * The professors started giveitbackforjobs.org   to allow Americans “who have the means” to calculate what their tax cut would be and donate that amount to a charity. " -- I hate to have to use, I hate for anyone have to use this word to describe anyone, but much less Ivy League college professors, but sometimes you have to be honest...they are stupid! The whole concept of lower,no, reasonable tax levels is for people to be able to do what they want with their own money. The 'professors' think they are enabling people who already give more of their wealth away than the difference in the tax numbers just extended. What would be genuine would be for the professors to donate the difference as they calculate along with all the Congresspersons who want to do away with the tax cuts installed by POTUS Bush 43. One only has to look at the charitable donations made (actually, NOT MADE is more acurate) by DUMB&DUMBERat leaders to understand why they ban together in trying to tax the most charitable taxpayers even more.

Online headline/story: "Ed Rendell, Pennsylvania Governor, Rips Vikings-Eagles Postponement * Vince Lombardi would be spinning in his grave," Ed Rendell said in a live interview with a television station. * "I think it is a joke," Rendell said. "I was looking forward to this. It would have been a real experience. This is what football is all about. We're becoming a nation of wussies." -- I agree, but Rendell opens up a whole can of worms at why he wasn't even more indignant at Congress for repealing "Don't ask, don't tell", and the House DUMB&DUMBERats keeping Pelosi as their spokesperson?
---
Online headline: "$5-a-Gallon Gas Could Be Here By 2012" -- That should reduce the DUMB&DUMBERats in Washington, DC to 'zero', and run off a lot of 'moderate' Republicans as well. Maybe it will finally get Congress moving on opening up our oil fields for drilling.
---
Nearly every government 'entitlement program' should be audited for financial efficiency. With the exception of the military and social security (people pay into this and cannot be responsible for the way the government has bungled the funds) , all government entitlement programs should be modeled after private service businesses, and a payroll/benefits package for employees of 'government programs' be limited to 60-65% of revenues. As it is, government programs use 78+% for salaries/benefits (the MCSD uses 85% of its revenues) leaving very little for serving the needs of the people "needing" the program. A good way to see what is needed would be to account for all revenues distributed to 'users', and calculate that as 1/3rd of the total revenues any program can be allotted.
---
L-E story: "LOS ANGELES — Rep. Charles B. Rangel, whose 40 years in the House have come under a cloud because of an ethics scandal, announced Tuesday he has established a new defense fund to help pay off past legal expenses and to deal with pending and new complaints. * Rangel, D-N.Y., was censured by the House earlier this month for financial and fundraising misconduct and had to stand on the chamber’s floor to listen to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., read the censure resolution, which passed 333-79. * The new fund, called the Charles B. Rangel Legal Expense Trust, was approved by the House Ethics Committee, Rangel announced in a prepared statement." -- Unbelievable! How can the House Ethics Committee approve something that a future House Ethics Committee might have to investigate how the funds are raised to pay off the debt Rangel ran up defending how he raised other funds?
---
The L-E reported of a basketball game score being 80 to 75, but look (and add up) the quarter-by-quarter scoring recap: "Tuesday at Jordan Kendrick 18 21 22 10—75 Central 7 11 26 25—80" -- It must be either "new math" or teams get 'handicap points' like bowling. I get the line scores to add up to Kendrick - 71 points, and Central - 69.
---
L-E headline: "Bulldogs, Buckeyes agree to play in ’20, ’21 * UGA, Ohio State to work out details" -- I guess one such detail will be if Ohio State will have enough eligible players on game day.

Where are the pundits talking about inflation and the dollar effect? Gas has risen to $3.00+ a gallon and predicted to reach $5.00 in 2012, my coffee has risen from $5.80 a pound to almost $7.00, I recently passed on a loaf of bread that was priced at $3.19, other grocery items at Walmarts are almost as high as Publix's regular prices. All this, and the government doesn't see fit for a Social Security cost-of-living-adjustment.
---
From a story in the L-E's "Neighbors" section: "Since 1991, Bring One for the Chipper has collected more than four million trees and provided over one million tree seedlings to participants" -- Excuse me but according to my math (using 20 years as the divisor) that would mean that a city of 55,000 homes (assuming no one has any 'permanent trees they use annually) is bringing in 200,000 Christmas trees per year for 'recycling', and replacing them with only 50,000 per year. Can, would, someone from "Trees Columbus" (or in contact with) please confirm "Keep Columbus Beautiful" committee's figures?

After reading the Gallop Poll for the "Most Admired" men/women, I have to conclude that Gallop needs to consult with the BCS committee on coming up with a formula that will provide a truer result of who's "Number 1". BTW, if anyone on this e-mail list was polled by Gallop, please respond with that info. Surely, 'we' represent some portion of the American political mix.

Frank Pratt, a Republican State Representative in Arizona was severely beaten and bound unconscious on Christmas Day while checking on his business. The article does not mention his political alignment, nor does it speculate on whether this was a 'hate crime'. Nah... there' s no political bias in reporting.
---
In the L-E's "Top 10 local stories for 2010", the L-E quotes Edward DuBose for calling Tony Adam's firing a "public lynching". No one expected anything less from the hateful DuBose, but what was worse was than Mimi Woodson said the same thing as a member of Council, and she got re-elected.
---

If the Federal Government is so set, so adamant, in keeping a separation of "church and state", why does the Federal Government shut down its services on Saturdays and Sundays? Both of these days are used as days of worship for the majority of religions, and the Federal Government acknowledging such is in its own way supporting these religions.

SunTrust in UPtown would get a lot better positive public response if it flashed the current time and temperature on its light board rather than a stale ad that it has been running forever (seems like it, anyway).

Environmentalists continue to beat themselves upside their heads! If it's a bit warmer today, they clamor "global warming", and if we have a blizzard, they clamor "global warming".

potUS Imam-a says he's going to spend more time out of Washington than he has regardless of the fact he has spent more time out of Washington than eith POTUS Clinton or POTUS "W". Of course, his spending more time out of Washington will be good for the economy as when he's in Washington, he's more interested in spending too much money we do not have.
---
PFC Bradley Manning is the liberals dream-come-true poster child! He's a homosexual AND a whistle-blower (no pun intended) for stealing state and military secrets and sending them to WikiLeaks. Now here's a great example of why we 'should have asked' and why he 'shouldn't have told'.

From the 'clarification needed' department: "Caleb King, who started most of the time he was available this season, is not available for Friday’s Liberty Bowl game against UCF, having been suspended for missing too many academic meetings. From the "only in California, Oregon Division" - L-E story: "While Thomas has not put up gaudy numbers like Newton, he’s so important to the Ducks’ success that the players voted him one of the three most valuable members of the team, along with running back LaMichael James and linebacker Casey Matthews." -- "three most valuable members of the team"? "MOST" is a superlative designating the one person or thing as unique in its position in a listing. It's objective, nut subjective. Liberals..you can't live with them, and you can't educate them.
---
I'd love to go to see the Shaw Tournament games, but I won't as I have to sit through 3 games inorder to see the 2 games I'm interested in. Why does the MCSD mix the boys/girls games? Why do they each not have either their own venue or designated days of playing? At least it has been scheduled for after Christmas rather than before.

L-E headline/story: "South Columbus Elementary school robbed second time in two days * In both burglaries, an alarm system thought to be armed did not activate when the windows were broken." -- Why wasn't this "detail" attended to, and fixed after the first robbery?
---
L-E headline/story: "New tax law packed with business tax cuts * The massive new tax bill signed into law by President Barack Obama is filled with all kinds of holiday stocking stuffers for businesses: tax breaks for producing TV shows, grants for putting up windmills, rum subsidies for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. * There is even a tax break for people who buy race horses. * Millions of homeowners, however, might feel like they got a lump of coal. Homeowners who don’t itemize their deductions will lose a tax break for paying local property taxes." -- "Business tax cuts"? Sounds more like some more 'lame duck' DUMB&DUMBERat 'monkey business'. Bet this is another of those famous Pelosi Bills...we didn't know what was in it until they passed it.
---
L-E story: "PORTLAND, Ore. — Procter & Gamble Co. will not renew its endorsement deal with Tiger Woods at the end of the year, * The company used Woods and dozens of other athletes as part of its three-year “Gillette Champions” marketing campaign" -- Hmmm.. Must be because Tiger "shaved 'too close' for comfort".
---
Did you see the L-E ad for how to check for 'false IDs"? How about looking on the back for the scan bar... better yet, convenience stores, bars, and liquor stores could be made to use the same license scanner you had to have your driver's license scanned by when you went to vote. Call your Congresspersons and demand this to become a law.
---
Read Walter Williams' column today. Washington, D.C. spends $24,000.00+/- per student for public education annually, and even our test scores are higher. Why does the MCSD accept Federal dollars for anything..especially because the 'attached strings' that come with that money cost us even more of our local tax dollars?
---
From L-E story: "When he (potUS Imam-a) does interact with people in Washington, it’s often with elites. * He attends events at his daughters’ exclusive Sidwell Friends School, a favorite of the city’s political and media elite. He meets frequently with journalists from The New York Times, giving them access to his office and senior staff while refusing to talk to most media based outside the New York-to-Washington corridor." -- Does this sound like 'a man of the people'? Yeah..right. Read the rest of the McClatchy article for more exclusionary practices.

Another story from the "suspicions confirmed" department - L-E story: "Another (school) theft was reported at the (same South Columbus) school on Dec. 17, the day school let out for the holidays. Council needs to establish a "sunset date" on the position it created to "end homelessness in 10 years". Perhaps an evaluation at the end of 3 years to show whether any positive impact has been made, or at least a 5-year evaluation to see if there has been enough impact to think that the 10 year goal can be met. Either that, or dump it completely on January 1st, 2011.

The "lame duck" session of Congress just shows how cowardly most DUMB&DUMBERats and some Republicans are, With the pre-election numbers the D&D's had, they could have passed any of the legislation they are passing now, but were afraid to run for re-election on their voting records. Had these 'lame duck' bill been passed before the election, there'd be even fewer D&D's come January.

---
From L-E story on redistricting: "The final plan will require federal approval under the Voting Rights Act because of the state’s history of discrimination against minorities. The law will likely protect Second District Rep. Sanford Bishop, who is black." -- Yet the last election discriminated against the whole 2nd District because of the Columbus/Muscogee county bloc vote. It's time to let the Albany area voters determine who represents them.

Georgia Power Company requests should not be decided on profit margins, but on how well it controls expenses. As a basically monopolist entity, using revenue for advertising and charitable donations should not be allowed as 'expenses' the consumers should have to support.

L-E headline: "Senate passes spending bill * Stopgap measure will keep government open into month of March" -- You know, when the Senate 'passes' one of theses extensions because no budget is in place, Congressional salaries should be suspended from being paid out during months that the budget doesn't get passed.
---
Another thing, no new laws should be able to be voted on with an unrecorded "voice vote" in either the House or Senate. There's too much 'margin of error' for some loud mouthed politicians and Chairperson's with questionable hearing abilities. Just look at how little the DUMB&DUMBERats listened tp the voters for the past two years.
---
The non-partisan local elections have allowed all people who wish to run for office to do so. Going back to a partisan election would limit access for independent candidates, and voter's choices for deciding who represent them. This years Council elections had 3 choices in Council Post 1, 3 in Post 3, 5 in Post 9-at-large, and 4 for Mayor. Voters could decide on who they were "for' rather than having to choose between only 2 choices. Even multiple party affiliates could run against each other in full district elections rather than in a primary for each party. Non-partisan elections are good for the community.

L-E story: "The Fed is lending dollars to other central banks in exchange for their currencies. * The central banks can lend those dollars out to banks in their home countries to ease financial turmoil. * Use of the program peaked in May, shortly after the swap arrangements were set up. * The Fed had lent the European Central Bank $9.2 billion, and was repaid. * In June, the Fed had lent $6.64 billion through the program. Most of the money went to the European Central Bank, and was repaid. Use of the program has since waned." -- Now the Fed is printing more money to 'bailout' the Euro, but it dilutes our money and our savings! Do you think any other country would be propping up our dollar under the circumstances? Not even China!

L-E "correction": "CORRECTION A story on page A16 in Saturday’s Ledger-Enquirer about the Census Bureau preparing to release new reapportionment figures for the House of Representatives gave the wrong number of electors in the Electoral College. There are 538." -- Why does this matter? There are 100 for Senators which are assigned 2 per state, 435 for the House Representatives which change according to Census numbers, and 3 given to Washington, D.C. by a DUMB&DUMBERat Congress proposed 23rd Amendment, and will not change. The only thing effected by the Census is which states will get more and less House Representatives.

From the 'typical government problem analysis SNAFU' department: L-E headline/story: "As MARTA cuts, more passengers hit the road * Scaling back services and rasing (sic) prices lead to lower ridership * But the ridership decrease still cuts into MARTA’s fare revenue, not to mention that it flies in the face of the region’s attempts to decrease traffic congestion by providing options. * Because of the spiral effect where service cuts cause more losses of revenue, MARTA would probably have to eliminate about half of all its service to completely close the gap, MARTA CEO Beverly Scott has said." -- Bet one thing that won't get cut is executive salaries.

One way to cut the damages of a 'lame duck' Congress would be to revoke the voting rights of all Congresspersons who either did not run for re-election, or were defeated in the election. The voters have already spoken on the opinion of the non-re-electeds' voting records.

Online headline/story: "Venezuela (Lame Duck) Congress Grants Chavez Decree Powers * Venezuelan lawmakers granted President Hugo Chavez broad powers Friday to enact laws by decree, undermining the clout of a new congress that takes office next month with a bigger opposition bloc. * Chavez opponents condemned the move as a power grab, saying the law will be a blank check for the leftist leader to rule without consulting lawmakers." -- Don't you know potUS Imam-a and Nancy Pelosi are rereading the book Chavez gave potUS Imam-a to see if they can pull this off before Christmas break!
---
Can you believe how vulturous the 'lame duck' DUMB&DUMBERats in Congress still are? 35% of a dead man's estate isn't enough for them. The sad thing is how wasted the money extracted from an estate is so wasted. Instead of being available to build jobs and industry, the Feds confiscate it and pour it directly into general spending on programs that have no future value.
---
Somebody please save the architect's rendition of the new Carver High School! Notice how nice the landscaping looks? Two bets: One is that the landscaping will not look that way when the school reopens, and secondly, two years after Carver reopens, if there is any nice landscaping done, it will not survive due to lack of any landscaping maintenance programs in the MCSD budget.
---
The real story in the "800 MG Ibuprofen" case in a MCSD school is how the nurse obtained them from Martin Army Hospital. If not properly documented as dispersed, then the pills were pilfered, which means the mother received and dosed out stolen goods to her daughter who then became another recipient of stolen merchandise.

Looks like either incoming Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson is either a Saint after all, or an illusionist. No one is losing a job who used to work in Mayor Wetherington's office, and she's bringing in 3 new staff members and reducing costs $50,000.00.
---
From Thursday L-E story: The city raised several issues about Currie’s truthfulness. * She did not tell Goodwin the truth when asked about a concrete slab that was poured along the city’s new rail trial near Peachtree Mall. * “I never gave permission for that action to be taken,” Currie said of the slab, which was paid for by the United Way. -- Thought this sounded somewhat fishy, so I got confirmation from the lead horse:"The city paid for the Concrete and poured the slabs. We (United Way) did not! We got a grant from Pepsi for signs paint etc. No United Way money used." A clarification and apology from the City should be hastily forthcoming.
---
Online headline: "Home Repossessions Plunge 28% in November" -- Doh! There was a moratorium on such while investigations were being conducted about unresearched foreclosures.
---
Online headline/story: 'White House Furious With DeMint's Threat to Read START Text on Senate Floor * White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called DeMint's demand a "new low in putting political stunts ahead of our national security." * Gibbs said the treaty has been available to every senator for the past eight months. Reading it line-by-line in the chamber would take up to 12 hours, he said. "It is the height of hypocrisy to complain that there is not enough time to consider this treaty, while wasting so much time reading aloud a document that was submitted to the Senate months ago." -- Well, reading it on the floor would eliminate future regrets from those who might say they voted on it without knowing what was in it. Remember Pelosi's statement that they needed to pass the HELL-thScare Bull so they could find out what was in it?
---
One 'big oil' company is telling us it's developed a way to keep carbon dioxide from being released back into the air when natural gas is used. Hmmm, this must create a real dilemma for the ultra-left whether to applaud 'big oil' for being 'greener' or to protest 'big oil' for starving trees.

Congress's approval rating has reached an all-time new low of 13%. I'd like the pictures of those 13% posted in newspapers and on line so we'd know who they are.

L-E headline: "At least 20 killed in Ivory Coast clash * Forces supporting claimants to presidency drag nation back toward civil war" -- Another mess the French has given the world. Remember Viet Nam?

Online "Comparing a McDonald's Happy Meal toy to an irresistible centerfold, Center for Science in the Public Interest Executive Director Michael F. Jacobson today announced a lawsuit against the fast-food giant for marketing to children." -- And who gets sued next...Chuck E. Cheese, Toys R Us, or your local pediatrician?
---
L-E headline/story: "Obama says he shares goals with US business chiefs * Some of the executives are Obama backers and members of White House advisory boards who have worked with the administration for some time. * But there are past critics in the group, too. Jeff Immelt, chief executive of General Electric, has complained that "government and entrepreneurs are not in sync." And he has called for progress in shaping an energy policy. "Our policy is uncertainty," he said in June." -- Jeffrey Immelt was the lead dog on potUS Imam-a's transition team! Immelt rode his position of influence hard to push GE's 'green' light bulbs, and by the time he recognized Imam-a for what he is, Immelt had already helped sink us. I no longer buy anything from GE, and judging by the number of competing light bulbs from other manufacturers, I'd say many others are boycotting GE light bulbs, hence Immelt's flip-flop.
---
While I basically agree with the Editorial in today's L-E, I noticed that it was not 'signed' as by whom it was penned by. New policy or just an omission?
---
Kudos for Mark (a.k.a. 'Dre') LeGree! First defensive player ever to be named a Walter Camp All-American for 3 years.

From the' only in California" department: "BERKELEY, Calif. -The Berkeley City Council Tuesday night indefinitely delayed a vote on whether to bestow hero status on a soldier who allegedly released classified information to WikiLeaks. * Some council members in this famously liberal city said they were concerned about the way the resolution was written and wanted more time to investigate. Others said it was premature to hail Pfc. Bradley Manning a hero when he has not admitted to being the source of the leaks." -- I'm just amazed that there is actually a 'thought process' at anything that comes out of California politics.

From the "man bites dog" department: "Casino Bandit Grabs $1.5 Million at Bellagio in Vegas" -- Wonder if he had only 1 arm?

What a remarkable coincidence has occurred in comparing the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to Community Organizer potUS Imam-a and Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Xiaobo was represented by an empty chair in Oslo, and potUS Imam-a is a quite often empty chair in the White House.
---
Online headline: "Obamas Pledge School Meals Will Be More Nutritious" -- Hmm, that ought to cure the obesity problem with our children. Who ever heard of a child eating too much healthy food?
---
L-E headline vs real headline: HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL * Ruling by federal judge big setback for new law * Requirement for all in U.S. to carry insurance ruled unconstitutional" -- What it should of read is "Federal Judge protects citizens"
---
From the "we should look closer at the number of unnecessary MCSD non-teaching jobs" department: Did you note the title of a retiring school system employee....'chief administrative assistant to the superintendent" and his duties? Doesn't it follow that if you have a "chief administrative assistant" there must be two or more assistant administrative assistants? Guess there'll a squabble over whom will take over the retiree's job of announcing announcements.
---
Did you see the 41 'free agent" signings for Major League Baseball? Signings ranged from a one year, $1.5 Million contract to a 7 year, $142 Million one. I wouldn't recognize any of the players by name, much less by looks.
---
Have you looked at the bowl line-ups? Two in particular have to be challenged: On January 8th, mind you, Pitt (7-5) plays Kentucky (6-6) in the BBVA Compass Bowl. Obviously the bowl committee has lost its way. The second is scheduled for January 9th, no less, and 'features; Boston College (7-5) and Nevada (12-1) in the "Fight Hunger Bowl". Obviously the bowl committee suffers from an eating disorder.
---
Another look at the bowl line-ups show that on what used to be the penultimate bowl day - January 1st - there are 6 games, and 5 of the 12 teams playing have 7-5 records. What a downer for us baby-boomers.
---
Saw something the other night that baffled me... Did you know you can buy caffeine-free "Mountain Dew"? That's right, caffeine free "Mountain Dew". Wasn't the point of "Mountain Dew" to be a high caffeine, kiddie jolt alternative to lower caffeine offerings? Does "Mountain Dew" actually think offering a caffeine free version will attract more people buying it just for the taste of it? Good luck with that!
---
The newest tax law keeping the current tax rates will not stimulate the economy per se as the rate is the same as it has been, but raising the tax rates would have caused more stress as less money would be in the hands/use of the taxpayers. Wish the media and other DUMB&DUMBERats could imagine the difference.
---
From the "how can that be" department: There's a foreclosure notice on a residence with $335,000.00 mortgage initiated in 2001 in today's L-E Legal Section (sorta across the street from Councilor Davis' residence) that is valued on the city tax digest at about $240,000.00. I repeat, how can that be?

Yesterday's analysis of the Mayoral race was completely off base. The issue wasn't of the best candidate or the black candidate being supported by the black community, but one of the black bloc vote a Democrat, and the promises made to the influencers.

The Minneapolis Metrodome...not even the hot air of the most flagrant of DUMB&DUMBERat rhetoric can deny the effect of 'deflation'.

Hmmm...the next time you get called before a Grand Jury, or Tax Audit, or "on the carpet, or other such occasion, do like potUS Imam-a, and beg off because you've kept your wife waiting for 30 minutes and need to be a party.

You have to wonder if Bernie Madoff feels any remorse. I pray that he does, but do not know if he is capable of such.
---
L-E headline: "Snowstorm forces postponement of NFL game " -- Wimps! Both teams and every player's agent should be forced to watch the 1967 Packers-Cowboys game sitting in a food freezer.
---
The squeeze on education has evolved because of the mountain of unfunded mandates forced on the local school systems by our legislators over the years. Mandatory classroom sizes, busing, too many high electricity summer days scheduled, and mandatory 'special' programs have all contributed to a system of top heavy salaries dominating the local budgets at an 85% rate. There is just no place left to cut from already inadequately budgeted maintenance needs. Let's get back to neighborhood schools, drop federal programs that have 'strings' attached, and send a message to the state that mandates must be funded before they are enacted.
---
L-E headline: "Civil War’s 150th anniversary stirs debate on race * Whites, blacks have differing view of planned festivities " -- 150 years ago, the first major page of change was turned. Amidst the carnage, a new direction in US history began. 150 years later, too many people of all colors are living as though it's still 1860 though we live and work side-by-side, and share the same goals for our children. It's time all recognized history for what it is rather than what it was. There is probably more division, now, caused by a refusal to move on, than there was in Lincoln's time.

Online headline: "Ex-Boyfriend Charged With Attempted Murder in Designer's Death" -- What a cop out! the only way this headline/story could be more politically 'correct' would be if it read, "Ex-Boyfriend Charged With Attempted Murder in "Alleged" Designer's "Alleged" Death"

Online headline: "TSA Defends Screening of Indian Ambassador" -- Well, if she didn't get offended by what WikiLeaks probably said potUS Imam-a and Co. really thought of her, she should have known she'd get 'the pat down'.

L-E headline: "7 Georgia congressmen want more immigration enforcement " -- Don't we have 13 Congresspersons? Where are the other 6 on this?

The quote in yesterday's L-E "Cryptoquote" was one from astute Mark Twain: "Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." How many in Congress deserve voter support?

Online headline: "Harry Reid Goes All In For Online Poker" -- Surprise, surprise, surprise! Wasn't it Nevada gaming firms that told their employees to vote for Reid.
---
L-E headline/story: "Students to be charged today in cyber attack * Police say two juveniles have intentionally slowed down school district’s computer network since last month * Even though the problem affected the school district for about a month, Joiner described the technique the students used to jam the system as unsophisticated." -- This sounds like the detection abilities of the MCSD are even less sophisticated; maybe the students should be hired to install new detection programs.
---
L-E headline: "FAA loses track of 119,000 aircraft " -- Once again, government proves itself incapable of efficiently doing business of the people. While we do have to suffer under the Constitution's defined divisions of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, why are we made to suffer under other divisions?
---
L-E headline/story: "Obama reportedly cigarette-free * Smoking “is not something that he’s proud of,” Gibbs said at the daily White House press briefing. “He knows that it’s not good for him. He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like children to know about it, obviously, including his.” " -- Well, looks like potUS Imam-a has distanced himself from his strongest supports...liberal smokers.
---
Ever thought about why anyone could vote for a DUMB/DUMBERat? They all campaign on fiscal restraint, but when they get to Council, State or National Congress, they seem to think they are sitting down at an all-you-can-eat steak&lobster bar with a fork in each hand.

When politicians are asked to cut the deficit, they say eliminating small programs/earmarks won't do very much, but it's all these small programs'earmarks that have created the deficit.

The MPAA has gone nuts! It just reduced the NC-17 rating of "Blue Valentine" to "R" despite an unaltered oral sex scene that incurred the original rating. Of course, the movie should be rated "X" or worse.
---
From L-E story of "Blue Valentine": "He (Harvey Weinstein) also said he couldn’t see any way the scene could be altered without undermining the point of his movie. “Cutting the scene would have been cutting into the heart of the film,” he said. -- Sounds like the whole film should be laying on the cutting room floor.

Online "headlie": " Peace Process Falters as US Rethinks Mideast Strategy" -- "Rethinks"? With his placating Muslim leaders, who can actually believe that there has been ANY thinking involved in the past potUS Imam-a policy?
---
With unprecedented gall, Charlie Rangel appeared on Fox & Friends yesterday AM moaning about the new 'death tax' involved in the extension of the current tax rates. Rangel epitomizes every DUMB&DUMBERat on the "DEATH TAX". They are like vultures, sitting in ready to pick the bones clean of any hard working American who was productive, and responsible, and visioned.
---
L-E headline: "Imam behind NYC mosque plan sees hope after fury" -- "Hope". isn't that special...now what he needs to look for is "Change", as in location.
---
If Roy Barnes had been elected, we see him plagiarizing POTUS Clinton's famous, "I tried" speech about the middle class tax cuts he campaigned on. I can hear him now, "Teachers, I tried to work the pay raises I promised you to get your vote, but I just can't; in fact you're going to get more furlough days than ever before."
---

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

What were the "Bush Tax Cuts"? Basically, they were a repeal of the "Clinton Tax Increase" plus revocation of "The Death Tax". What's more American than that?
---
DUMB&DUMBERats are really showing their lack of how an economy works by being upset that taxpayers won't have the government digging deeper into their wallets. This whining idiocy follows Pelosi's statement that "unemployment checks create jobs".
---
Speaking of Pelosi, wouldn't you like to see her on, "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader"?
---
Speaking of the "Death Tax", it's almost sick that the government actually plans for the 'death tax' contributions in its long range budget plans. On second thought, no, not almost, it IS sick.
---
Al Sharpton is calling for Rush Limbaugh to be removed from radio. Hmmm, if it weren't for the ''Al Sharptons'', there'd be no need for "the Rush Limbaughs".

From an L-E story: Question asked a 12 year old girl - “Do you think you'd be in more trouble if you told your mother there wasn't any holding down” and that the sexual intercourse was consensual, defense attorney Frank K. Martin asked the girl during the hearing." -- Under what circumstance can a 12 year old 'give sexual consent' under GA law? This is worse than Martin's defense of a client being innocent of 1st Degree because he missed the intended victim and killed someone else!
---
L-E headline: "Jane Fonda releases workout DVD, wants TV role " -- Yeah, how about a series called "Hot L Hanoi".
---
From L-E's "soundoff": "Constitutional Rights are our individual rights, not the rights of government. If you really want to be free, you have to show individualism. Rely on government and you become a slave to the state. " -- Can't claim this one, but it sure is 'right on'. Musta been sent in by a fellow BCer.
---
From the "what's wrong with this picture" department: From L-E story: " The coaches released their All-SEC teams Tuesday, and Alabama has a league-leading 12 selections on the first and second teams. * LSU is second with eight. Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina have six apiece. SEC champion Auburn has four. * Auburn’s first-team players are offensive tackle Lee Ziemba, center Ryan Pugh, quarterback Cam Newton and defensive tackle Nick Fairley. Auburn doesn’t have any second-team players." -- Reminds me of the 1972 Miami Dolphins...perfect season, and the defense was called "the No-Name Defense" because it was such a team effort the media couldn't just focus on 1 or 2 players.
---
According to a L-E story: Registration for the Parks and Recreation 2011 youth basketball season are underway. Registration fees are based on "ability to pay" so "proof of household income" is "required". What malarkey! Who on the P&R staff is responsible for authenticating such information, and what will be done to safeguard that info? Either require all participants to pay a set fee, or plan a budget to include such costs so everyone who wants to do so can play.

The holiday buzz must be getting to me. Another BCer pointed out another misdirected credit. Roger Miller, not Ray Stevens, sang "King of the Road". I knew that, but just messed it up. Anyway, I like both those guys's songs.
---
potUS Imam-a blames lack of manufacturing capabilities/facilities as the reason unemployment is so high...DOH...but doesn't 'get it' that manufacturers sought relief from government excesses in regulations that added higher costs via taxes, fees, unions and unnecessary compliancy to unnecessary government agencies being funded by the ever consuming government need for revenue.
---
From another BCer: 'don't know if this is an accurate quote....came to me in an email today, but thought you would get a kick out of it regardless. Gov. Mike Huckabee said..."If we want to keep our Nation's secrets 'SECRET'... store them where President Obama stores his college transcripts and birth certificate."

Have you seen the ads for Windows based phones? I look for Apple to start an ad campaign on whether you'd trust your Windows phone in an emergency based on past experiences with your computer software from Microsoft. I know I will not buy another Windows based piece of electronics in the future. Vista and 7 put in the finishing nails to the coffin.

Online story: In April, the government announced a new high-tech $100 bill that would feature security features such as a 3-D security strip and color-shifting image of a bell * Unfortunately, millions of these folded during the printing process, leaving a blank portion running across the bill face. * Authorities can't work out what caused the problem, or even what they should do about it. Sorting the bills by hand could take as long as 30 years and nobody has come up with a mechanized system to separate the good bills from the bad. * The defective bills, which could have a face value worth billions of dollars, will have to be burned. * For now, the bills, which cost a total of $120 million to print, are simply sitting in vaults in Fort Worth. * "The Fed's very unhappy, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is taking a beating unnecessarily," the person told CNBC. "Somebody has to pay for this." -- At least it's not bailout money; but haven't we taxpayers already paid enough for this boondoggle? If any one pays, it should be by eliminating enough government jobs/programs to make up for it.
---
On the bright side, disposing of the ashes of the millions of new $100.00 bills will be a 'shovel ready job'.

Online headline: "Is Obama Selling Out Liberals Who Elected Him? " -- C'mon...liberals didn't elect him; they all voted for him as they would for any DUMB&DUMBERat candidate. potUS Imam-a was elected by the spineless element of voters that cast their votes based on what feels good at the moment versus the long range good of the country..

In the L-E interview with Mother Teresa Obamalinson, she said the lawsuit against the online hotel booking company(s) 'didn't cost' Columbus anything because it was on contingency. What BS. Having Columbus left off all the sites made Columbus look invisible, and countless dollars not received by our hotel/motel businesses were lost to the local economy.

L-E headline: "Mediators try to intervene in Ivory Coast * Country could return to civil war" -- Another French mess. Remember Viet Nam?

L-E headline/story: "Foreign fighters seen slipping back into Iraq * Iraqi officials say there has been a surge in financial aid to al-Qaida’s front group in Iraq as the U.S. military prepares to leave by the end of 2011." -- This is what happens when you tell the enemy of your plans to leave.
---
L-E story: "Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is stepping up his defense of the Fed’s $600 billion Treasury bond-purchase plan, warning that the economy is still struggling to become “self-sustaining” without government help. " -- The economy is such BECAUSE of 'government help'!

After analyzing the GA/local sales tax system, GA's municipalities (such as Columbus) should unite on having the local option sales taxes be sent directly to a local office rather than redistributed by the GA Department of Revenue. The lag time between when the state receives the local tax revenues, and when the state gives those revenues to the cities means that a lot of economy boosting money sits in limbo rather than being circulated locally.
---
Auburn left "No Doubt"!
---
L-E headline: "Tomlinson shares her vision for Columbus" -- Like I have said repeatedly, she thinks of herself as "Mother Teresa Obamalinson". No one likes to think about the Comer Recreation Center being slap dab in one of the highest crime rated areas, and a contiguous sector is almost as high. Would love to see crime rates of all sectors where Public Recreation Centers are located.

Here in GA, if your children do well in high school, and are citizens of GA, they can receive a Hope Scholarship worth about $6,000.00 per annum as long as they maintain a "B" average in college. In some other states, children of illegal aliens who have been attending schools illegally, can receive a $6,000.00 subsidy for school.

The election of Bruce Huff brings to light something most of us didn't know. Former Councilor Julius Hunter's wife worked for the city. There's a new level of DUMB&DUMBERats in Congress; those who voted not to censure Charlie Rangel can now be upgraded to DUMBEST DUMBERats. Our Sanford Bishop joins this newest caucus.

L-E headline: "Columbus Council: Plan to fight homelessness might have $100,000 price tag" -- Might cost $100K? This is another feel-good, government folly that will only keep its director and staff from being 'homeless'. Homelessness has been a static state forever, and will continue (unless such are penned in 'homeless camps') forever more. Does not the Mayor and Council and City Manager remember the Ray Steven's making a fortune singing about "The King of the Road"? Does it mean that we shouldn't care and be compassionate, and helpful? No, but government is not the entity to do this. Name one government program that you consider effective and budgetarily efficient.

Censure...other than being set up as the 'donkey' in a game of 'pin-the-tail-on', is a pretty big joke. Rangel loses his availability to be a committee chairman (but the last election means there are no DUMB&DUMBERats serving as committee chairpersons). and he had to be present while his friends 'roasted' him (heck , that used to be a Dean Martin television event). Hopefully, the IRS will not be so accommodating.
---
A WTVM headline: "Businesses prepare for holiday crime" -- "prepare for holiday crime"? This is almost pathetic in the sense that it's an angle no safe city should have to think about.

What planet IS Nancy Pelosi from? Yesterday, she outright stated that unemployment checks "create jobs"!

L-E story: "Romell Broom’s execution last year was stopped by Gov. Ted Strickland after an execution team tried for two hours to find a suitable vein. Broom has said he was stuck with needles at least 18 times, with pain so intense that he cried and screamed. * He was sentenced to die for the 1984 rape and slaying of 14-year-old Tryna Middleton after abducting her in Cleveland as she walked home from a Friday night football game with two friends." -- Talk about poetic justice> This guy has felt the pain of someone sticking things into him, and now he will still be executed. Soon is not too soon.
---
L-E headline story: " Congress votes to stifle loud TV commercials * Under the legislation, now heading to President Barack Obama for his signature, the Federal Communications Commission would be required within one year to adopt industry standards that coordinate ad decibel levels to those of the regular program." -- Now potUS Imam-a listens to the American people!
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — The Treasury Department has received another $1.8 billion in net proceeds from the sale of additional stock in General Motors. * Treasury said the revenue received Thursday brought the total the government has earned from an initial public offering of General Motors stock to $13.5 billion." -- $13.5 Billion want even cover the 'earmarks' of a normal Congress year.
---
Let's face it; Congress's decision regarding 'the Bush tax cuts' is simply a matter of taking the current tax rates, and either keeping them or increasing them. potUS Imam-a's name will be on the tax incease.

If we had more car dealers than lawyers in Congress, the economy could take a positive lurch forward. Just think how much a boost the economy would receive if Congress eliminated state sales taxes on cars, and how much would come in if lawyers had to charge sales taxes on all their fees...

From the Dale Carnegie Course of what-not-to-say/do examples from "How to Win Friends and Influence People" - L-E story: "(Columbus Police Cpl. Byron) Hickey said that his transfer from vice -- a prestigious unit -- humiliated him. Working burglaries and thefts requires no special talent, he said." -- That's enough for him to be laughed out of court.

Two predictions I'll make after Tuesday's run-offs: First - Voters remorse by January 2012 as programs are started that use tax dollars for neighborhood revitalization of private property. Like Obama, she told you/us this is what she wants to do, and it's basically another tax dollar funded bailout. Secondly - A conflicting situation involving the ongoing lawsuits against online hotel booking companies by the new mayor's husband. The City of Columbus will have to drop out as I don't see her and her husband's firm wanting to drop proceedings that tap into the 'golden egg'.

The "Sip and Be Seen" Summit in the White House was a big bust. potUS Imam-a had a grand chance to demonstrate leadership, but turned over his responsibility to Beavis and Butthead, so he can wash his hands of responsibility to his most left wing support groups. Reminds me of Clinton's declaration when he first took office. After campaigning on a tax cut, he came out a cried that 'tried huis hardest' to make a tax cut, but could only offer a new tax increase.

L-E headline: "Ga. authorities investigate 19 dog carcasses found" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought the L-E was examining the election results that blew out the DUMB&DUMBERat 'blue and yellow dogs'.

Do you wonder if opponents of Christmas get joy out of trying to make it miserable for others? Can you think of another reason 'they' act this way?

Why is the media so concerned about the US being in Afghanistan for the same amount of time as Russia was in the past? Russia was actually trying to take Afghanistan; the US is working with (as best as one can do so) the Afghanistan government to fight terrorist activity and growth.

Lets look at the WikiLeaks situation as an opportunity to end "political correctness", and as an opportunity to "move on" with all cards on the table.
---
Online headline: "Smithsonian Christmastime Exhibit Features Ant-Covered Christ, Nudity, Gay Incest and Ellen Degeneres" -- While nativities in Washington, D.C. have been banned, smut is allowed. Now this IS a real reason religion should be separate form government!
---
One big question needs to be answered by potUS Imam-a: Why didn't you quash this last July? The soldier obviously has committed treason, and Assange is in receipt of stolen goods.
---
Online headline: "Maxine Waters Demands Her Ethics Trial Be Held Before Year's End" -- No hock, Sherlock! She certainly doesn't look forward to a Republican led investigation/trial/sentencing.
---
Ending 'homelessness' in 10 years will be about as successful as the WikiLeaks revelation ending world-wide political correctness.
---
Seems both the European Union and the US are investigating Google. With any luck, maybe the US government and the European Union will learn the secrets of running a debt-free operation.
