After analyzing the GA/local sales tax system, GA's municipalities (such as Columbus) should unite on having the local option sales taxes be sent directly to a local office rather than redistributed by the GA Department of Revenue. The lag time between when the state receives the local tax revenues, and when the state gives those revenues to the cities means that a lot of economy boosting money sits in limbo rather than being circulated locally.

Here in GA, if your children do well in high school, and are citizens of GA, they can receive a Hope Scholarship worth about $6,000.00 per annum as long as they maintain a "B" average in college. In some other states, children of illegal aliens who have been attending schools illegally, can receive a $6,000.00 subsidy for school.

The election of Bruce Huff brings to light something most of us didn't know. Former Councilor Julius Hunter's wife worked for the city. There should be something to control spouses of elected officials from being hired by the City. I know new Councilor Huff's wife works as Tax Commissioner, but she, too, is elected.
