Sen Diane Feinstein D&D, CA, says she 'takes the president at face value".... Well, which one, his left, his right, or his about face? --- L-E headline: "Axelrod says voters will judge Obama on actions" -- DOH! Of course potUS Arpege will be judged on his actions, and for his lack of action. I expect David Axelrod is about to abandon potUS Arpege soon, and rejoin the Clinton campaign for 2016. --- Online headline: "Commerce Sec. Bryson cited for felony hit-and-run" -- Oooops, my bad. Thought for a moment potUS Arpege had thrown the Commerce Secretary under the (economy) bus. --- Update on above: "A separate White House statement said that Bryson, who aides said suffered an apparent seizure on Saturday while driving near his Los Angeles-area home, will undergo medical tests and evaluations." -- The only 'seizing' going on is potUS Arpege 'seizing' the opportunity to blame someone else. There was nothing in the police report that confirmed a seizure occur as Bryson hit a vehicle from the rear, then after losing an argument about whether to call police or not, Bryson got back in his car and tore off, and eventually ran into another car which rendered him unconscious. --- From the 'only in California' department - Online headline/story: "Planned Parenthood sets up clinic on high school campus * A California doctor says one school district's union (Los Angeles Unified School District) with Planned Parenthood illustrates how deceptive the group is when it comes to marketing to teens." -- Now here is a situation where I'd be supportive of a Sharia Law Club, a Catholic study group, and a Judeo-Christian Coalition being situated right next it, but that won't happen. --- Online story: "SPRING CREEK, Nev. -- Students at a northeastern Nevada high school were surprised when they received their diplomas: the word "graduation" was misspelled as "graduataion." -- Lightning strikes again! There was a recently reported 'diploma-gate' in Maryland over a misspelled word, and now this. Don't these guys have 'spell checker' software? Surely these companies are relying on recent high school/college grads to catch spelling errors. --- Online headline/story: "Chicago Public Schools: Highest Graduation Rate On Record For Five-Year Grads in 2012, District Predicts * With more than 18,500 students graduating from CPS this year, the district predicts its graduation rate will hit 60.6 percent this year for students who were freshmen in the 2007-2008 school year, the highest it's been since at least 1999 * CPS Chief Jean-Claude Brizard attributed the improved rate in this year's class to graduation rate initiatives that targeted several schools, like Phoenix Military Academy, where teachers and principals collaborated to raise their graduation rate from 42 percent in 2008 to nearly 75 percent last year" -- 5 year curriculums for high school? Wonder if athlete's get red-shirted for eligibility? Also, we have to wonder whether the CPS has hired all the Atlanta teachers who were fired for cheating on student testing.... --- Related story to above: "90 percent of Chicago teachers authorize strike * Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis announced the result of last week's balloting - nearly 90 percent of its 26,502 members voted to authorize a strike -and called it "an indictment of the state of the relationship between the management of CPS and its largest labor force members." State law requires 75 percent approval. * Teachers are upset that Mayor Rahm Emanuel canceled last year's raise and that they're being asked to work longer days without what they consider to be an adequate pay increase. * Chicago public school students have the shortest school day - 5 hours and 45 minutes - among the nation's 50 largest districts, according to a 2007 report from the National Council on Teacher Quality * (Mayor Emanuel) still was able to lengthen the school day for children to 7 hours, starting this fall, without the union's approval." -- Chicago teachers are complaining about working a 7 hour day while private business owners put in 10 - 14 hour days to net enough money after they pay taxes to live. Chicago needs Scott Walker for its Mayor! --- Online story: "Lindsay Lohan is now blaming faulty brakes as the cause of her recent accident after blaming the truck driver cutting her off was debunked" -- As hard as I try, there are some Lohan sightings/citings that have to be addressed. Lohan was driving a Porsche. Blaming the truck driver versus the Porsche brakes was a much better avoidance of the truth. --- L-E story: "The Muscogee school board’s failing to appoint an administrator has placed in jeopardy a $1.2 million adult education program serving 1,700 students in five counties. * The school district annually puts about $300,000 into adult education; the rest comes from federal and state grants that for the 2013 fiscal year total $932,000. The school district administers that grant money for Muscogee, Harris, Chattahoochee, Stewart and Quit-man counties. " -- Excuse me? Our local property taxes are being used to pay for students from other counties? It was bad enough when the MCSD was allowing teachers who were capitalizing on other states/counties lower tax rates to live there, but let those teachers' children attend Muscogee County schools without paying the non-county tuition charges. Unless there is more state and federal dollars coming in to make this program 'revenue positive', this is worse. --- Addendum comment to above: "These programs that bring in less revenue than expenses are the very reason we should wean ourselves from federal program involvement. The average federal program takes $100.00 dollars out of the community for every $20.00 they send back for a specific program that requires us to spend even more local tax dollars to sustain. --- Judy F. Brouillette should follow her own advice. The L-E should report that she is the treasurer of the Muscogee DIM&DUMBERat Party. --- Excuse me, but in the world of tennis, having a mediocre 50/50 +/- record should not merit an All-Bi-City award. Call me old fashioned, but a performance award should have performance standards. --- L-E headline/story: "FBI: violent crime down for fifth straight year * The number of violent crimes reported to police across the country fell 4 percent last year when compared to 2010, the fifth straight year of declines." -- Obviously, Columbus has been left out of these statistics. ---
