From the "look what the ____ Scouts have started" department - HuffPOOPOO story: "The Miss America pageant will no longer feature a swimsuit competition, ending a tradition widely criticized as misogynistic as the event tries to move toward more inclusion." -- Hmmm... well. now that the Miss America Beauty Pageant has dropped femininity as a qualification, what's next.. "Beauty"? What's next.. will the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition models be wearing burquas.... oh, and what about the Victoria's Secret "fashion show"... do we we see longjohns and bloomers in the future?

You know.. I remember when the young contestant wore modest one-piece suits that most women of the day would.... could .. wear.. In it's quest to boost TV ratings, the Pageant forgot what was important, and put the women in scanty bikinis... and made a mockery of the overall woman's place in the world.

Shhhh..... It happened... as predicted, a Democrat took the first spot in the California primary for governor, but former San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsome only garnered 33% of the vote.. the surprise is that Republican John Cox came in second with 26%, nearly doubling the votes of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.. In a nut shell. Cox being on the ballot will insure Republican interest in the November races.

Other California primary results of interest are:

Diane Feinstein won.. but with only 44% of the vote

Nancy Pelosi won District 12.. with 68% .. but she will have a Republican challenger

Maxine Waters won District 43 with 71% and she will have a Republican opponent who actually LIVES IN the district.

And in District 22, voters rewarded Republican Devin Nunes with 58% of the votes, Of note is the DIMocrats really wanted to make an example of Nunes because of his strong Trump support... sorry folks.. didn't happen.

Of real importance in California.. Republicans had more voters in over half of the counties.

Word on the streets of Columbus is a trio of roundabouts is being planned out in the Williams Road area.. hasn't the Williams Road/Veterans Parkway already take over 4 years of people's patience, and heading for more.. Then you look at how long ... and with no transparency.. the River Road/Bradley Park has been bandied around (in it's 6th year) and no one on Council will admit to knowing anything about the costs or completion dates. I guess we are seeing why Sam Wellborn is so anxious to retire from the GA DOT, and why Mayor Tom-LYING-son wants to get another political job so she can move out of town.

Dennis Rodman is going to be in Singapore for the North Korea-United States summit meeting.. It appears Rodman still has Kim Jong Ooooops' "favor". Rodman did say he couldn't take all the credit for arranging the meeting.. but..he could be included in possible negotiations... You know, since Rodman was an emissary of Obama, could this also be an attempt at political influencing of a foreign despot to undermine America's best interests?

Am really concerned about the volcano erupting in Guatemala.. both my bride and one of my daughters were near there last year on a missions trip, and our church has had to cancel one so far this year. Lift the people of Guatemala high in prayer.

From the "wanna make a bet" department?" - HuffPOOPOO story: "Members of the outgoing 8th-grade class at St. Cornelius Catholic School in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, each received a graduation gift that reflects the troubled times: bulletproof shields for their backpacks." -- This is taking "helicoptering" to a new level.. wanna bet not one of the kids will put those bulletproof backpacks to school next year .. now, on the other hand, if they had been given Superman bulletproof capes... nah... I'd make the same bet.

My bride runs the crafts portion of the VBS at First Baptist here in Columbus... one craft this year is each child making a place mat to take home to remind them of God's Providence. She decided to give them old vinyl records to use as the base.. She bought a 100 from the Salvation Army thrift store.. There were some classic albums as well as little known artists, but two really caught my eye... mainly because I was surprised someone actually bought them, listened to them and donated them to the Salvation Army..Surprise number 1 was "Bavarian Yodeling Songs and Polkas".. but the second one really threw me... "Hit Songs of the 17th Century".. I really wished I had a record player to listen to that one.. well, not really.

Oh,, to explain the 33.3 LP Vinyl records the kids were mystified with I explained to them that these were the "CDs" of their grandparents.. They all understood then..

From the "bias, what bias" department - Online headline: "Haiti excluded from White House reception of 'like-minded' friends on Venezuela" -- Hmmm.. but then, the story explains why.. "It was a clear indication that despite considerable pressure in recent days by the administration and an April meeting between Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and Florida Republican and Venezuela hardliner Sen. Marco Rubio that the country had not caved and would not be supporting the U.S. toughening position on the Maduro regime." You dang right Haiti should have been excluded.. the headline gave a reason , but misrepresented why Haiti was not invited,, Haiti backs Maduro!

From the "compounding an error does not solve the problem" department - L-E headline/story: "Here’s how kids can swim for free this summer in Columbus * With two of the city’s four outdoor public pools closed for repairs, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Summer Fun Pass for children to swim for free. * Leaks at the Psalmond Road and Shirley Winston pools mean those facilities won’t be available during the swimming season that runs through Aug. 5. But the Summer Fun Pass will give children free admission to the city’s two other outdoor public pools: Double Churches Park (2300 Double Churches Road, 706-494-7775) and Rigdon Park (1600 Howe Ave., 706-687-5813). * The pass also will allow them to swim at the city’s Natatorium, the Columbus Aquatic Center (1063 Midtown Drive, 706-225-3980) for the reduced price of $1." -- Good grief.. if the City took care of the pools, and charged sufficient usage fees, income revenue could keep all the pools open.. As it is, Free Swimming" will produce no revenue yet usage will increase the need for maintenance, so the problems grows bigger. Out of curiosity, as I was driving by the Double Churches Road pool on Monday, it appeared to be closed while a large crew worked on it.

Yesterday, I ran this item in my blog.. "Online headline: "Bill Clinton addresses his remarks on Lewinsky scandal, says he supports #MeToo" -- Yeah.. if Bill Clinton supports #MeToo, it's only because he defines it as an opportunity to meet more women that aren't Hellary." -- One astute Facebook buddy brought something ironic to my attention...while millennials and mainscream media folks ballyhoo the "hashtag-MeToo" slogan for abused women, my buddy reminded me that the older readers never have referred to "#" as "hashtag".. to us, we ca=]ll it the "pound" sign.. Think about it... all these abused women and supporters are parading around with signs that read, "POUND.ME.TOO"

L-E headline: "Officials looking for answers in whitewater rafting death" -- you know, there's one condition not being addressed.. there as an alert in the Atlanta J-C that mentioned that boating and swimming in the Chattahoochee were temporarily banned.. it's possible that was only for the Atlanta area of the Hooch, but we had some pretty swollen and fast paced flood waters streaming down the Whitewater Course.. perhaps discretion.. not running trips during this period.. could have been more prudent... and saved a life. Surely, the local river-guides could not have much training under these circumstances.

L-E headline: "To ward off tariffs, China offers to buy $70B in US products" -- Good grief.. Trump's trade plans are working.. and no additional tariffs have been added on import goods.. Trump knew this would happen if he stood strong... Hey, Mainscream Media, how about excoriating the past 3 presidents that allowed foreign countries to deny American businesses a far market in their countries!

I'm going to go shopping at Sports Authority to look at AR 15 rifles... I don't plan on buying one because I do not go big game hunting. What this means is I am NOT shopping at PRICK's Sporting Goods because Prick's has told me they don't carry such anymore..

L-E headline: "A Democrat who talks like a Republican could steal an NC House seat from the GOP" -- Yeah... "talks" like a Republican, but will "walk" Pelosi's line.. This was the ploy of a DIMocrat in Pennsylvania that worked..and we have his record since to verify he's a typical LYING DIMocrat...
