Correction .. (and my apology to the Mayor).. apparently she did show up at Ft Benning Thursday night, but somehow in an "open concept room", Ms Photo-Op somehow became invisible to me.... or she had her "avoid at all costs" Kirven-radar-detector enacted... Anyway. I'm glad she did attend, but I do "feel" (THINK, too) that she should have joined General Brito and his bride when the General welcomed everyone to the event to show that the unity of the community that created the Ft Benning-Columbus bond in 1918 was still as strong today.

---
Ah!... It's Monday again..
Zeph Baker still hasn't revealed his campaign donors or expenses, and we still don't know whether the mayor complied with City rules pertaining to wrecking a city vehicle... or two. Now we can start counting down to the finish date of the River Road Roundabout as it finally starts today.. of course we have to add 2 weeks extra for the orange barrels that are already racking up rental costs. Oh, and another week has passed and we still don't know whether the man with the bashed in head who was pulled out of the river last August was murdered or what. Speaking of dead men pulled out of the river, was there ever a determination of the cause of death of the Whitewater Rafter that was thrown from a raft?

From the "bias? what bias? department - Online headline: "President Trump threatens to turn away thousands of Central Americans as migrant caravan continues north" --"threatens.... threatens to turn away thousands of Central Americans"? -- Good grief! President Trump is doing his Constitutionally charged duty to enforce our laws and protect our country and our fellow citizens! It's that simple. Maybe it's time we put a new requirement on American "journalists".. that they pass the Citizenship test administered to out naturalized citizens before they can publish any reports/stories.

---
I hear the Despicorats complaining about how Trump is basically avoiding the issues with Saudi Arabia, but none were concerned about Obama's Apology Tour, and bowing down to Muslim dictators.

---
Good grief...saw clips of Rosie O'Donnell chastising Donald Trump and his 'merry white privileged men'. Excuse me, but Trump has been elected to lead our country, while Rosie just 'feels' she can attack him because can...talk about PERSONIFYING 'white privilege'!

WTVM 9 TV headline/story: "Columbus police confiscate drugs disguised as candy as Halloween approaches * Officers seized several different drugs disguised as candy yesterday. * They say the lollipops and Tic Tac look-a-likes they seized are suspected to be laced with ecstasy and THC." -- Hmmm...Drugs disguised as candy...sorts makes sense since the families of the dealers will swear in court they are really nice and would never sell drugs.

---
You know, if the Honduran Caravan is suppose to be timed to benefit Despicorats in the November mid-term elections, how are the people getting here. We see pictures/videos of men, women, and children walking and they have 2,500 miles to travel (from Mexico's southern border to Sam Diego) in what ... 15 days. That's about 166 miles a day..even if they don't sleep, and walk around the clock, that's almost 7 miles per hour ..it's over 6 marathon races PER DAY ..for 15 straight days. Something tells me that the Despicorats have some Rosie Ruiz (Boston Marathon cheater in 1980) type cheaters hiding on the route who will jump out in the last few miles and claim they ran the whole way.

---
From the "#He-TOO!" department - Online headline/story: "CNN's Acosta sends private message to former Melania Trump aide: 'F--- you' * CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta sent a direct message to a Twitter follower that read "F--- you" after being mocked on the social media platform on Thursday night. * Direct messages can only be seen by the sender and receiver, but Justin Caporale, a former aide to first lady Melania Trump, made Acosta's message public by tweeting it to his own followers." -- "F... YOU? Hmmm...Sounds pretty much like a verbal sexual assault!...and certainly not very civil nor unbiased.

---
You know.. we can talk about how good it would be if California Despicorats would run someone other than Maxine Waters for Congressional District 43, but.. remember what happened in GA's District 4.. remember Cynthia McKinney? We got our wish.. but we got Hank Johnson.. Remember Hank "Guam will flip over if we put all our military equipment in the base" Johnson. There are actually times I wish McKinney were still in Congress.

From the "when the effect of drinking Despicorat Kool-Aid wear off department - Online headline/story: "Brookhaven parks bond opposed by group that helped create it * The public opposition by four of the five members of Parks and Recreation Coalition of Brookhaven reverses their previous impartial stance and follows the recent creation of a “Yes for Brookhaven Parks” group. Not all conservancies or “friends of” groups within PARC are opposing the bond. * “PARC of Brookhaven has determined that it is imperative to change our position from neutral information source to advocate for a ‘no’ vote on the upcoming potential bond,” PARC Chair Sue Binkert said in an Oct. 16 statement. * They say the bond would hike property taxes unnecessarily, adds projects the public never approved, and ignores alternative funding sources." -- Hmmm... sorta like "Save Hilton" here in Columbus.. so much for MidTown "rubber stamping" Mayor Tom-LYING-son's T.A.D. initiatives...

OK...everybody....mark your calendars... this is Monday, October 22, 2018...and a "road message board" on River Road has been announcing all week that the "Roundabout" construction begins TODAY! Let's see...the original plans go back to 2012, and the first attempt to begin was scheduled for the summer of 2014 (but was scrapped after glaring flaws were pointed out 😎) and new plans were presented in February of 2016, and now it starts. Don't forget that what started out as a GA DOT project with the state picking up the projected $1.5 MILLION cost now has become a $4.6 MILLION dollar project that Columbus taxpayers are picking up..that's swing of $6.1 MILLION.. plus whatever the rent is on large backhoe, dirt packer and a bunch of orange barrels cost for sitting unused for the past two weeks. Now, mark your calendar and make sure it's one you see daily so.you won't forget how much it costs or how long..if ever..it'll take to finish.

Oh, I'm gonna throw out an "over/under date for the roundabout's completion (when the LAST orange barrel is removed): October 22, 2020.

---
Have watched as one new home was finished.. and as another one is being erected on the 5700 Block of Green Island Drive (portion south of the roundabout)... I wonder if the new owners realize that they will no longer have access to Green Island Drive north or Cascade Road... unless they exit via Cascade Ct to their south.. make a left against the incessant River Road traffic, and then manipulate the roundabout which may involve a game of "who's gonna win the right-of-way battle with a logging truck.

Online story: he premiere of ABC’s “The Conners” – which is the Roseanne Barr-less spinoff of “Roseanne” – lost 35 percent of viewers who tuned in to watch the return of the original series in March. * Last spring, “Roseanne” returned from a 20-year hiatus to a massive audience, with a 11.6 rating and 18.2 million viewers but Tuesday’s spinoff premiere drew a 7.5 rating, The Wrap reported, citing Nielsen’s overnight ratings." -- Even if ABC can pull off a "happy face" with these ratings, I'll bet the advertisers are not..

---
Best speech of the week.. maybe the entire political season - Online headline: "Nikki Haley jokes at Alfred E. Smith Foundation fundraising dinner: 'You wanted an Indian woman, but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test'" -- Looks like the Republican Party is solid for the next three presidential elections.. Trump, of course in 2020 if he still wants it, but in 2024 and 2028, Nikki Haley will evaporate any of the Despicorats that show up... I can see the headlines for a Warren-Haley debate.. Women face off in a "pow-WOW",

---
Think about this.. two years ago, at the same fundraising dinner, Hellary LOT the presidential election. Trump spoke ahead of her.. and ripped her a new one.. At that point, Trump was on shaky grounds.. but Hellary stepped up and handed him the election. If she had simply shook her head, and "apologized FOR HIM", she'd have won the day.. but she didn't.. she took his bait, and tried to respond likewise, .. unfortunately, she brought a rubber knife to a gun fight. What's really important to understand is that Trump KNEW she couldn't resist the opportunity to try to beat him at his game... and she still can't.

From the "goose-gander... "Bob Dylan 'how does it feel' "" department - Online headline/story: "Nancy Pelosi was heckled by a group of Cuban-American Trump supporters and shouted out of a Miami restaurant while helping to campaign for a Florida Democrat, the Miami Herald is reporting. * Pelosi has been helping Miami Democrat Donna Shalala, a former Clinton administration official, in her campaign for Congress. Unfortunately for Pelosi and Shalala, on Wednesday they and some colleagues found themselves surrounded by angry protesters, demanding answers about the Democrats’ willingness to work with Cuba. * It was in this context that Shalala, Pelosi, and some colleagues found themselves surrounded by Cuban-American pro-Trump protesters. Specifically, a group showed up at Shalala’s campaign headquarters, demanding to know why a politician would align herself with another politician — Barbara Lee — who had praised the Cuban dictator on his death in 2016." -- You know.. I do not condone the language.. even the temperament.. of the protesters.. but I sure sympathize with their cause and anger, and it's the main difference from the antifa actions.. The Cuban-Americans were not paid flunkies ...

Online story: "Two Christian filmmakers appeared before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Paul Tuesday to challenge Minnesota state law which they say illegally forces them to produce and create films expressing messages that contradict their core beliefs.
* Telescope Media Group owners Carl and Angel Larsen have already been threatened with hefty fines and up to 90 days in jail if they choose to disregard the law. * (Minnesota's) Human Rights Act stipulates if the couple creates films celebrating their Christian beliefs about marriage – that marriage is between one man and one woman, they must also create films about marriage that violate their beliefs, including films promoting same-sex marriages." -- Of course this law in UNCONSTITUTIONAL! It doesn't demand that porn producers have to make acceptable Christian relationship movies, too.

Online headline: "Jimmy Carter: Kavanaugh is 'unfit' to be a Supreme Court justice
" -- Well, I'm sure, as a teenager, Brett Kavanaugh felt Cuzzin Jimmy was unfit to be a president...and time has proved Kavanaugh right...and Cuzzin Jimmy wrong. Hang it up, Cuz!

You know.. campaign donation reform IS needed.. We've seen extreme examples of out-of-state funding support during the Ossoff Congressional District 6 Special Election last year, and are seeing an even worse out-of-state campaign cash tsunami for Abrams this year. We even got vote requests post cards sent from California. Why didn't Abrams have those done here in GA .. at least she could have claimed she created.. even if temporary.. jobs for Georgians.

I bought 100 lottery tickets Friday.. I could not let the opportunity to possibly win a BILLION Dollars pass without having "skin in the game". I do have a suggestion that the Lottery might consider.. You know, when a jackpot gets over $400,000,000.00, why not have two winning numbers drawn.. each for one-half of the pot, and when the pot escalates another 200,000,00.00, add a third winning number and so on for every $200,000,000 the pot increases. Even more interest would be created if players knew they had two or more opportunities to win BIG.

For the record.. of 100 Quick Picks, only 1 number the computer "chose" had the PowerBall #7 selected. Not exactly the results I hoped for, but.. it;'s the reality of anyone picking the winning number when it has an over 1-in-300,000,000 chances to win odds. Oh.. no one won the BILLION, so the new estimated "dangling carrot" for Tuesday is currently $1.6 BILLION. Chomp, Chomp! (BTW, did have a ticket with 3 numbers on it worth $10.00)

From the "possibly the most Despicable Despicorat comment of the year" department - Online headline/story: "Sarah Sanders rips Rep. Joaquin Castro's 'slanderous lie' linking Kushner to Khashoggi's disappearance * Castro stated: “Let me get to the point that I think is most disturbing right now; the reporting that Jared Kushner may have with US intelligence delivered a hit list, an enemies list to the Crown Prince [Mohammed bin Salman], to MBS in Saudi Arabia, and that the prince then may have acted on that and one of the people that he took action against is Mr. Khashoggi.” * The CNN anchor pushed back on the comment, saying that the network doesn’t have that report. * Castro continued that he’s “seen reporting” on that claim and it “needs to be investigated.” -- Can you believe it, a Despicorats' claim that even CNN pushed back from? Castro is in the Texas 20th District.. a District so "blue" no Republican is running, but there is a Libertarian candidate on the ballot.. Jeffery Blunt. Sadly, Blunt has also run in the 2012, 2014, and 2016 elections, and the highest percentage of votes he's ever received against Castro was but 24%... but he is on the ballot this year.. so if you know anyone in the San Antonio area, contact them and get them to vote for Blunt.

From the "why isn't this on the front page" department - M/C L-E headline/story: "Feds propose tax rule meant to help distressed areas * The Trump administration is proposing rules for investors in a new program that it says could have a big impact on economically depressed areas around the country. About 8,700 so-called “opportunity zones” have been set up in all 50 states to lure investors and developers with tax breaks. * Administration officials say the goal of the program, established by the new tax law enacted last December, is to create businesses and jobs in low-income areas and lift residents out of poverty. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin predicts that $100 billion in private capital will be invested in the new zones. * “This incentive will foster economic revitalization and promote sustainable economic growth,” Mnuchin said in a statement." -- You know, Pelosi and Schumer, supported by MSM-13, will direct their Despicorat minions to vote against this too.. The last thing the Despicorats want to happen is for their poverty-base voters to feel they have an opportunity to think and work for themselves. Ask Kanye...

Online headline/story: "Trump says US will pull out of intermediate range nuke pact * President Donald Trump said Saturday he will exit a landmark arms control agreement the United States signed with the former Soviet Union, saying that Russia is violating the pact and it's preventing the U.S. from developing new weapons. * The agreement has constrained the U.S. from developing new weapons, but America will begin developing them unless Russia and China agree not to possess or develop the weapons, Trump said. China is not currently party to the pact." -- Once again, Trump shows us he's the first president since Reagan that has not become "GENDER NEUTRAL"! Trump 2020 Vision!

Dennis Haysbert may find himself out of a job when Trump finishes his second term... Allstate Insurance could find no better spokesman to say that "America is in Good Hands".

I'm curious..maybe even confused....a candidate for a Congressional seat does not have to live in his/her district as long as he/she lives in the state, but voters have to live in the district of the Congressional representative we are assigned. I'm sure there are others but I can think of Maxine Waters in California, and we experienced the situation in GA District 6 when the Democrats tried to buy the seat for Ossoff. Both Waters and Ossoff are Despicorats, but you don't see/hear the DNC or MSM-13 questioning the legitimacy of their candidacy.

Years ago, in 2010, the era of extreme political correctness, the Ole Miss student voted to change the school emblem from the Rebels/Colonel Reb to the Black Bears.. Why, pray tell, does the Ole Miss field crew still paint "Rebels" in the end zone? Of course, an even newer mascot has been approved for this season, but the Landshark hasn't appeared as yet... not that I ever expect it will.

The producer/director of "First Man" can try to minimize the importance of the US flag planting scene it left out of their movie about Buzz Aldrin's historic moon walk, but ESPN's Game Day gave it the proper reverence in American history when they did a piece about Washington State's legendary flag guy, Tom Pounds, and his Game Day trek to get the "Coug" flag on every Game Day broadcast.

---
Did you see the ESPN Game Day salute to the legend of the Washington State "Popcorn Guy". People have been trying to ID and locate "Popcorn Guy" since the Stanford rout of Wash St in 2013..

The clip rivals the early 1970s Oakland at Houston Monday Night Football game when a camera zoomed in on a pretty zonked out Houston fan who was alone in a section after all the others had left as the score was about 35-0. The guy suddenly opened his eyes and saw the camera zoomed in on him, and he "flipped a finger" at the camera.. "Dandy Don" Meredith didn't miss a beat as he said, "Well folks, I guess that's his way of saying 'Houston is #1"!

Anyway, good luck to Wash State finding their "Popcorn Guy".
YouTube/Google it to see him.

You'd think Oregon fans would demand that Oregon sweatshirts have a "U" added.. as it is, you can hardly think of the Yellow on Green "O" as anything other than a BIG ZERO!

---
M/C L-E headline: "In Georgia schools, consent is added to sex education classes amid #MeToo movement" -- Call me old fashioned, but how about discussing that "consent/no consent" should be decided before... not after/during moving on from 1st base...

From the Columbus Council Agenda: "PROPERTY ACQUISITION - 2212 1ST AVENUE: Approval is requested to acquire 2212 First Ave. in the amount of $15,000 to include closing costs in an effort to assemble land in the City Village Redevelopment area. The owners of 2212 First Ave. contacted the Community Reinvestment Department asking if the city would be interested in purchasing the property. The city currently owns the properties located at 2216 First Ave., 2221 and 2213 Second Ave., and 114 23rd St., which are adjacent to this parcel. Property at 2221 Second Ave. is currently leased by Homeless Resource Network. This property was recently appraised for $15,000." -- "recently appraised for $15,000"? Hmmm... well, it was appraised by the Tyler Technologies software at a Fair Market Value of $8290.00 this year, and the owners did not challenge or appeal that appraisal.. and the property across the street at 2213 1st Avenue is appraised at $8,050.00. Seems like there should some more discussion as to what is considered an "appraisal value" when the City is buying private property

Also from Columbus Council Agenda: "CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE SERVICES (ANNUAL CONTRACT) – It is requested that council authorize the extension of the Long Distance Telephone Services contract with AT&T (Atlanta) for an additional six-month period. The estimated cost for the six-month extension is $12,000. * Per Resolution No. 50-12, dated Feb. 28, 2012, council authorized a five-year contract with AT&T. The contract was due to expire on Feb. 27, 2017; however, in accordance with Article 3-109 (Annual Contracts: Price Agreement and Service Contracts) of the Procurement Ordinance and at the request of the Information Technology Department, the contract was extended for one year, through Feb. 27, 2018. *Per Resolution dated Aug. 8, 2017, council authorized an agreement with AT&T to upgrade the city’s current CCG PRI VoIP telephone system to a more modern SIP IPFLEX VoIP telephone system. The SIP system will allow phone services to be delivered via the internet instead of PRI lines." -- Wait a minute.. Council is going to pay an extra $2,000.00 a month for long distance phone service, yet changing from land line to internet access.. Isn't that basically cellphone service, and NOBODY pays for long distance calls on our cellphones.

Another Columbus Council Agenda item: "Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Vehicles – The Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking vendors to provide 30 Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Vehicles for the Columbus Police Department." -- Two things... wasn't there a big to-do years ago when a bid was offered out for police vehicles that was written specifically that only one manufacturer could meet the requirements? Is this any different? On the other hand, I'm glad to see what appears top be an "open bid" contract versus buying all through an out-of-town source who has a state contract.

One last Columbus Council Agenda item: "Nov. 7, 2018, 3-Ton Vibratory Asphalt Roller – The Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking vendors to provide one 3-ton vibratory asphalt roller." -- Wait a minute..is this why mine, and many other streets, haven't been been resurfaced in so long?

---
Why do Columbus citizens only get half the story when we get news from the ACT test officials. Heard yesterday that ACT officials say 35% of test takers aren't equipped to pass basic college math or English classes. This drives home the fact that I remember so well when CSU's previous president, Dr. Mescon, proudly announced a new freshman record enrollment class included over 1,000 who had to take remedial classes at Columbus Tech.

From the department of absurdity - Online headline/story: "Head of officiating Al Riveron says NFL will discuss making hair tackling illegal * As of now, it's entirely legal for defenders to bring down a ball carrier by grabbing onto their hair. But according to the league's head of officiating, Al Riveron, the NFL will discuss making such tackles illegal. That doesn't mean it'll result in a new rule before next season, but it will at least be a point of discussion. * Riveron shared that tidbit during his weekly rules video during which he discusses controversial plays from the past week. In that video, Riveron noted that the hair tackle by Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney on Bills running back Chris Ivory was legal, but a discussion with all relevant parties will be happen after the season." -- Good grief! Just make it a rule that players cannot have hair more than 2" or so coming out from under their helmets... tell them to either get a haircut, or wear a hair net. Problem solved!

From the "what California liberalism has done to our court system" department - Online headline/story: "Public Defender Convicted Of Providing Firearm To Felon, Keeps Her Job * A San Diego public defense attorney accused of providing a gun to a felon pleaded guilty to the offense on Oct. 12. * Andrea Bayer, 37, had previously pleaded not guilty in San Diego Superior Court to felony charges of furnishing a firearm to a felon and aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm by a felon, * In exchange, the second felony count against her was dismissed. * Instead of sentencing her to up to four years in prison, Deputy District Attorney Oscar Hagstrom said that he and Bayer’s lawyer, Domenic Lombardo, expect the judge will likely place Bayer on probation." -- And now.. in the inimitable words of Paul Harvey.. "and now, the rest of the story:

The Public Defender bought a gun for "self-protection" then "stored" it in in a locked box at the house of twin brothers who are now in jail for charges including attempted murder, manufacturing hash oil, arson, brandishing a firearm, vandalism, and making threats. The California Supreme Court will decide whether or not to suspend or disbar Bayer. I guess California has Sanctuary Courts as well.

---
From the "sick.. in so many ways" department - Online headline: "Hillary Clinton Celebrates Planned Parenthood’s 100th Birthday and Its 7 Million Abortions" -- What a sick thought to "celebrate".. Epic infanticide on a level of the Holocaust! Guess they had a cake whit 7,000,000 candles as well, and Hellary "snuffed out" each individual "light" one-by-one.

---
Online headline: "Trump has lost $1 billion in personal wealth since running for president" -- And the next time you have the Nike "Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything" KaeperPRICK ad, close your eyes and imagine Trump's picture in that ad.

Let's look at the 5 Amendments on GA ballots this November:

Amendment 1 - Basically, it wants to redirect the sales taxes we already pay to buy more land and maintain existing parks.. Proponents say it won't raise our taxes... but they lie.. Basically, it takes tax revenues the state and local governments already use so the revenues will either have to be made up with other taxes being t=raised, or services cut. - VOTE NO..

Amendment 2 - would set up a Georgia court to hear complex business cases. Republicans broadly supported this one, on the grounds that businesses could get faster, more consistent verdicts from judges who come to specialize in business; and regular courts wouldn’t get bogged down with such cases. Business court judges would be appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state House and Senate judiciary committees" -- Seriously, why would any business want to to give plaintiff attorneys access to a judge that could be appointed by a liberal? VOTE NO!

Amendment 3 - would change how timberland is defined and taxed in Georgia and how counties get reimbursed for a property tax break that the state gives to such land. For several years, some of the counties that have a lot of timberland have felt unfairly treated by the state. This adjustment to the program got near total support in the Legislature." -- Vote NO... two or three times if you can! There is no NEW money tree that the legislators can access to to pay the local governments for the preferential treatment large landowners already get.. this would insure .. even give priority to using the existing revenue flow for something other than was/is planned. Again.. VOTE No!

Amendment 4 - aims to keep people involved in court proceedings if they’ve been a victim or alleged victim of a crime. Crime victims already have rights like the right to be informed if a perpetrator has been let out of prison; this puts those legal rights in the state Constitution. " -- What can I say other than VOTE NO. We have existing laws on the books.. A Constitutional addition would just make it harder to tweak or improve in the future. VOTE NO!

Amendment 5 - will be on every ballot, but it only matters in counties that have more than one public school system, such as a city one and a county one. It gives a new right to the larger school system in any such county to call a vote for a penny sales tax for education, even without the smaller system’s buy-in. But the systems would still share the money — split by enrollment numbers by default — unless they come to some other agreement. -- Vote NO as many times as you can! Columbus will not see a penny of this as we have a combined public education system..and paying another 1% taxes will just drain another $30-$35 MILLION out of our economy.. Council and the MCSB should be adamantly joined-at-the-hip in opposition, and Columbus voters should be single-minded on this issue. VOTE NO!

---
There are also 2 "referendums (referenda) -- what's not said is whether the referendums (referenda) are binding or non-binding.. and even a non-binding "yes" vote gives the legislature an opportunity to writer-rewrite them in salacious ways. VOTE "NO"!

---
M/C L-E headline/story: "Big changes coming to busy stretch of Beaver Run Road, DOT says * The restrictions reduce crashes at intersections by preventing dangerous immediate left turns and straight-through driving where motorists must navigate through intersections where traffic is moving at high speed in both directions" -- Good grief.. remember the famous words we learned in history when history was taught correctly? How about , "Go West. young man!" as spoken by Horace Mann to an eager young man wanting to make a name for himself... In today's times, that quote would have to be "Go West young ma,, but only after you go East and then make a U-turn".
