I ordered a gift last Wednesday from Amazon.. (I'd looked locally, but no store carried what I was looking for) ...delivery was promised for Friday. Friday came but the package didn't. Checked the USPS tracking number Saturday morning, and saw that it had arrived in Atlanta on Friday evening, left there for Macon and arrived in Macon about 11:30.. then it left Macon at 2:17 AM Saturday morning. Now, the USPS has no clue where it is. I went to our main PO yesterday, and the pleasant and charming agent smilingly confirmed the obvious facts and added it just hadn't arrived at it's destination. I mentioned that it's only 90 miles and it's over 60 hours since it left Macon, and asked if any Postal vehicles and drivers normally don't check in somewhere for 60 hours... his smug grin disappeared.

Update: Was notified late yesterday afternoon, that the package was received at "the carrier facility". If the package gets delivered with my mail today.. about 2:00 PM.. then the USPS will have taken from 7:53 PM last Friday when it arrived in Atlanta until 2:00 Tuesday.. over three and one-half days (90 HOURS) to deliver a package from under 100 miles.

And what's the status of the softball event that is scheduled for April 3rd involving the US Women's National Softball Team and two University System of GA softball teams that have had their seasons canceled?

I need a fake ID! Local hospitals are initiating a "no one over 70 years old policy" for visitors.. so I'm "banned" from visiting my father-in-law in a rehab facility. Even more sadly is that his bride is banned also...such are the ways of created by the unknown...sadder still is that there are no windows in his room that allow him to look out and see his grand & great-grand kids waving love and encouragement.
