Oh how "clever".. I'm talking about Columbus (GA) Council...In it's "Administration Building Summary" of 9-28-2021... First..after the taxpayers give Synovus $25,000.000.00 on (or before) March 1, 2022 , Synovus will keep control of its Broadway buildings - making up about half of the "deal" - for an additional 5-to-29 months for an agreed upon rent of $500,000.00. Synovus will be "renting" (and not paying any property taxes) 121,537 square feet for 5 months of use then 56,702 sq ft for another 24 months.. on average, Synovus will be renting out 67,880 sq ft per month for 29 months at $17,241.38 per month.. that comes to $206,896.55 annually ($3.05 annually per square ft)

Having personally rented space on Broadway in 2009-2012 and paying about $18.00 annual rent per square ft.. this sounds like us taxpayers are getting shafted! To boot, it may take longer than the Warm Springs Road widening that just opened in the last year to complete the renovations.. messing up parking and traffic smack dab in the UpTown Business District for the existing merchants. And... AND if you deduct the roughly $170,000.00 per annum in property taxes Columbus WON'T be collecting on these properties, the net rent receipts pretty much "wash out" over the 29 months..

Now.. the above is not the FIRST "clever" I am pointing out.. as bad as that is, check out further down the "Summary" .. in the "Funding Source" section:
"Debt Service is estimated at .50 mills for 25 years with no anticipated millage rate INCREASE beginning in FY23" (FY23 is Fiscal Year 2023 which begins on July 1, 2022) Of course there won't be any MORE "anticipated" millage increases" beginning in FY23... we'll be paying the INITIAL millage increase for 25 years!
And don't forget the 12.5 percent increase Council wants to add onto our state/local SALES TAXES with the $400,000,000.00 SPLOST next month... especially since they just eliminated $50,000,000.00 of "needed" funds projected for rebuilding the current Government Center.
Now.. while I have Council's attention.. which bank is going to handle the $50,000,000.00 in bonds to buy/renovate the Synovus complex?

---
You know... when Councilor Judy Thomas said, "Why did this come out on Friday afternoon to be voted on tonight (Tuesday) without comment from the community?", Columbus would have been better off if she'd voted ""NO" on the backroom deal made with Synovus to buy their building.

Online headline: "Democrats delay vote on infrastructure plan, bowing to progressives" -- But before this is over, Queen PeLOUSY will be blaming Trump and partisan Republicans for not voting for her PeLOUSY PORK PROJECT PACKAGE.

---
Hmmm... looks like Kanye West is being "labeled" as no longer "Black enough" for the left.. he just released his second fashion item he developed for "The Gap", and MSM and liberals are referring to Ye's "hoodie" as something you can find in every Walmart.

---
Online headline: "Biden signs bill just hours before deadline to avert government shutdown, approves bill to fund government through Dec. 3" -- Looks like "unity" and "openness" promised by JoKKKe Biden were, indeed, intentional campaign promises to be broken...

---
From the "now you see why liberals push "new math" in Public Education curriculum" department - Online headline: "Yellen: Federal debt ceiling should be abolished by Congress * The treasury secretary said the current system is 'destructive' and presents a risk to economic stability" -- Good grief! Debt created by wasteful spending is what is destructive!

---
From the "MSM Bias? What MSM bias?" department - Online headline/story: "Senior al Qaeda leader killed in drone strike in Syria, US defense officials say * The figure was responsible for planning, funding, and approving trans-regional al Qaeda attacks" -- Good grief! Sounds like a blatant attempt to defuse the Afghanistan fiasco being ripped apart in Congressional hearings! Notice.. this drone attack was in SYRIA, not Afghanistan... mainly because we have no military left in Afghanistan that could spot an al Qaeda leader, much less confirm a drone strike killing one...

---
From the "MSM bias? What MSM bias?" department - Online headline: "Woman who survived 1918 flu, world war succumbs to COVID * The 105-year-old struggled with the disease for a week before she died Sept. 16." -- Good grief! She was 105 years old..she survived Spanish Flu, polio, Asian Flu, German Measles, Smallpox, Bird Flu, Ebola, a host of other coronaviruses, whooping cough, numerous "colds" and ordinary "flu" bouts, and MSM pinpoints a week of Covid-19 as her cause of death.. this is a great example of Yellow Journalism...

WTVM-TV9 headline/story: "Buena Vista Rd. murder suspect granted consent bond * Kendaryl Rogers was 1 of 3 suspects connected to the 2020 August murder of 26-year-old Alex Davis. Davis was shot and killed at a BP gas station in the 3900 block of Buena Vista Rd. on Aug. 6 just after 3:00 a.m. * News Leader 9 is told officials won’t know the amount of Rogers’ bond until an order is filed in court. * Rogers was arrested back in March. * When Rogers was in court in March, witnesses said he was caught in another state and had what police thought was the weapon used for the murder." -- Excuse me.. while I don't know all the ramifications of giving a charged person a "consent bond", I'm assuming it is a lower monetary guaranteed instrument used to ease congestion in jail for prisoners awaiting trials, but as I understand it now, our jail is NOT overflowing, so why is a person charged with a violent felony getting back on the street... especially since his "alleged" partners in the crime are both DEAD from other shooting crimes?

---
From the good dual example of Socialism ... and freedom" department - Online headline:"Smith & Wesson to move headquarters to Tennessee over Massachusetts' proposed gun legislation * Legislation would impact 60% of gun maker's revenue" -- Hmm... maybe we ought to be teaching children the game of "BLUE State-RED State" rather than "redlight-greenlight" in school...

---
Local elected Councilors and School Board members who block communications on issues from property tax paying citizens do not deserve to make decisions affecting our town... it's not about whether they agree or disagree on issues, but whether they are willing to listen... I will be supporting candidates running against Mark Cantrell on the School Board and Toyia Tucker on Columbus Council. Neither "has to read" what I send them, but neither should "block" my e-mail...

---
From the "what took him so long!" department - Online story: "Democrat Fox News anchor Chris Wallace turned heads when he called on Joe Biden to build a border wall along the southern border in response to the ongoing crisis." -- Good grief! Wallace also "flipped" on MSM bloc agenda!

With Fentanyl from China coming through Mexico cartel labs and hitting the streets of US cities and killing 100,000 Americans annually, it can no longer be considered as an overdose... no it's poisonous... it's murder... it's war!

From the "so much for openness" department - Online headline/story: "Biden continues string of family-related hires with nomination of Rep. Clyburn's daughter to fed commission * Prevalence of family-related hires in White House piqued ire of Obama’s ethics chief Walter Shaub * President Biden is continuing his string of family-related hires with the nomination of House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn’s, D-S.C., daughter to a federal commission. * Biden nominated Jennifer Clyburn Reed t to serve as the federal chairperson of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC), a currently inactive commission established in 2008 that was "created to address economic distress" in the southeastern region of the U.S. * The nomination raises some questions as it appears to be the latest trend in family-related political hirings by the Biden administration. * While Reed’s father, the House majority whip, does not have a hand in administration dealings, he did give a critical endorsement to Biden in the packed South Carolina Democratic primary election. * The Trump administration wasn’t the first to have these problems, but Biden’s pledge not to hire his family and his emphasis on diversity sparked hope that it would be the last," Shaub wrote in the Washington Post in June." -- Wow! and in addition, "White House press secretary Jen Psaki, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, senior adviser Anita Dunn, White House counselor Steve Richetti, White House deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed and Presidential Personnel Office (PPO) Director Cathy Russell each have at least one direct family member working for the Biden administration."

Remember when VP Chuckles Harris nodded in agreement when a student made anti-Semite statements against Israel? Well, now IRAN is featuring her in ads of its own.. yeah.. Harris has as much diplomatic skills as Antifa

WRBL-TV3 Online story: "Cure Violence’s model is three steps: Detecting and interrupting conflict, identifying and treating the highest risk individuals and changing social norms. The Cure Violence Columbus Initiative is looking to get endorsement from Cure Violence Global — and work to get boots on the ground in the Fountain City." --
Seriously....why is Columbus Council entertaining the CURE Violence proposal asking for $500,000.00 when the background of the program was developed in Shicago which has worse street violence even compared to current Columbus. Council has seen the article demonstrating the program's failings... well, all but Toyia Tucker.

It's an absolute shame when a political announcement on a federal judicial appointment
in Northern Georgia focuses on a person's skin color and gender rather than the person's legal reputation built around her Constitutional knowledge and prowess. Martin Luther King, Jr. weeps from Heaven...

Online headline: "Panama warns of looming Haitian migrant wave, tens of thousands on the way: "Panama warns of looming Haitian migrant wave, tens of thousands on the way" -- at least 20,000 so I read... this reminds me of the old ground war tactic of sending in a wave of fresh "troops" after the first wave has worn down the defenders..

---
Online headline: "CNN's Don Lemon complains Sinema, Manchin are 'acting as Republicans'" -- Hmmmm.. sounds more to me that they are demonstrating they aren't mind-numbed Schumer/PELOUSY pawns.. if they changed parties, I might even suggest they are American patriots with America's future in mind."

---
Online headline: "Ex-Forest Service Investigator: Biden's BLM nominee colluded with eco-terrorists—she can't be trusted" -- Hmmm... sounds like Biden dismissed ATF nominee Chipman was a choir boy in comparison!

While I am vaccinated, and would prefer people in the medical field also be vaccinated, I do not think...feel for that matter.. that medical field workers should be fired for choosing not to get vaccinated. Chances are they already have been exposed and have immunity now, and their experience cannot be replaced easily...

Online headline: "Initial jobless claims unexpectedly rise * First-time jobless filings rose by 11K last week * The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits rose by 11,000 to 362,000 in the week ended Sept. 25, according to the Labor Department. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting the number of first-time filings to decline to 335,000. " -- Good grief! This is a 346,000 "reverse" of what analyst predicted!... Even worse than the last report that JoKKKe Biden "BRAGGED" about in his UN recitation...
