We are being bombarded by attempts to "cancel" what has made us strong and worthy to be guardians of our past and future. I'm watching a British series called "Lovejoy"... It's a witty series about an antique dealer, and has a nice blend of comedy, romance (mainly "G-rated") and tidbits of history.

 

I'm in season 4, and a War of Independence (our Revolution) British flag was discovered, and following a contested concern about it's current ownership, a pastor produces a sales contract identifying the church as the rightful owner. There was conflict about whether the flag was to be held in esteem... or distaste. Upon displaying the relic in the sanctuary, the pastor spoke these words:

 

"Around us, we see many artifacts testifying to our rich history. Milestones in the journey towards civilization, some to be proud of, others... perhaps not, but all of them worthy of our reflection."

 

Truly, this is most appropriate for us, to all Americans, to ponder and mull over as why we need to CANCEL the "cancel culture" that's destroying the 20-20 hindsight path that's led us to today.

Let's take a peek at what the Council/Synovus "deal" will do for Veterans Parkway... Obviously, the bank building at Veterans at 10th Street will close, and across 10th Street on the other corner, the "ANNEX" building of our City Government will close.. Add those two empty buildings to the previous closed GA Power Building on the corner in the next block, not only do visitors and business prospects traveling Veterans Parkway see this.. and it's also bundled with business after business between Victory Dive and 38th Street having chain-link fences topped with barbed and/or razor wire. What a confidence builder for our City's future.... NOT!

Good grief.. Columbus can't even finish grieving for our 54th homicide victim when number 55 has already occurred.. WTVM-TV9 reports a stabbing victim on Curry Street on Sunday... SMH!
