After a record number of homicides in 2021 (71 plus at least 4 vehicular homicides that don't get includes), Columbus, GA got off to a much slower rate (thank God!) in January, but it seems like 2022 homicides and shootings are soaring again..Maybe the voters can initiate some change at the top in leadership next month.

Where's he been and what's he done for those 30 years? ... Oh! It wasn't reported, but did Bishop address WHY the new VA Clinic is 2 months late in opening? WTVM-TV9 Columbus, GA headline/story: "City of Columbus unveils improvements to Emergency Management Agency * After $200,000, the city has now improved its Emergency Operations Center. The unveiling was held this afternoon. * This $200,000 facelift was provided by the city along with grant money" -- let's not be fooled when politicians tell us they paid for it with local and grant money... it all is all tax dollars and taken out of our pocket! Oh... one other thing... WRBL-TV3 reported this as costing $180,000.00... why the difference?

I've seen real estate market surveys for the Victory Drive (and South Columbus) housing market, and it looks like the range is between $30K-to-$90K...the homes proposed in the NeighborWorks project were initially figured at $120K to-$165K... but that was figured before the soaring building materials and labor became affected by rampant inflation... A real example is for a 1,650 sq ft building for a North Columbus city-owned golfing facility.. It's a basic shell with two bathrooms, a "lesson/office room", and an open area for a transaction counter, some sales merchandise, and a vending/snack area.. no kitchen.. recent bids to build in came in at $320K-t0-$360K... that's between $193.00-to-$218.00 a square ft... Nice houses with property in my neighborhood are not valued anywhere close to $193.00 (or higher) a square foot! There's no way this "affordable housing project" can come in at the $120K-$165K range projected...
